FINALLY! We play gakpo in his preferred position and he looks a different player. Don't sleep on gakpo he is a leader in the dressing room and has loads to offer us from the left wing. I would definitely sell Nunez, diaz and salah I can take or leave but has been an absolute legend for what he has given. If possible Somerville of Leeds, gyokeres and Lois openda or Brian mbuemo would be top of my shopping list to replace above mentioned.

Mbuemo? No thanks, mediocre player at best, Summerville isn’t really tested at a top level one good season in the championship isn’t really enough. If we’re replacing a legend like Salah at least get someone in of equal quality or who looks like they could reach the same level.

Openda is probably off the table due to RBL usually liking all of the transfer fee up front and that’s not really FSG’s preference, I’d say Gyokeres is too expensive too.

22 Apr 2024 10:34:28
Not sure on what basis Mbuemo is mediocre. Brentford arguably missed him more than they missed Toney. At 24 years old he is playing in a team teetering just above a relegation battle and he is still starring with goals and assists on a consistent basis. Last season he had Van Dijk and Konate on toast. In fact Virgil popped a hamstring trying to keep him under wraps. He’s too good to be languishing in the bottom half and would walk into any squad in the league in my opinion. Not necessarily as a starter, but I’d liken him to Bowen. He has the potential to step up and become more.

Mbeumo is a mini Mike tyson on the footy pitch, buying players who have played in the league is very important as they grow to new levels with liverpool, we have done well with players from within our league Mane, salah, Robertson, vvd, mcallister, ox before the injuries, shaqiri, gini etc these players have all elevated when they joined our club, the players who haven't played in the league have been hit and miss.

Really good point that hailstones. I would add Jota to your list too as a successful domestic buy. Come to think of it most of the flops under Klopp had no Prem experience. Keita, Karius, Arthur, Thiago, Kabak etc. I'm sure some would argue Nunez and Konate are knocking on the door to being flops as well given they were signed to be game changing players and right now I wouldn't even have them in the best XI. Tsimikas, Klavan and Minamino never really set it alight for us either but at least they were dirt cheap. Matip was free but his body just never looked up to the physicality of the league. Diaz has done well but I don't think he's anywhere near what Mane was and he's pretty much at his peak now for a winger reliant on pace.

Gakpo, Gravenberch, Endo and Szoboszlai need to do more in time but I wouldn't call any of them flops just yet as they've all been here less than 18 months and shown at least glimpses of what they could offer us, Endo especially.

Alisson and Fabinho are probably the only undeniable exceptions where buying from a foreign league has paid off for Klopp so far. That's actually one of the best original points I've ever seen on here. Maybe it really is best to buy local produce!

22 Apr 2024 16:52:25
Mbeumo is a very good player loads of potential. Quick, can dribble, can finish and gets lots of shots off in good areas he’s the exact type of player Edwards would like.

{Ed002's Note - Edwards does not pick the players and Liverpool has shown no interest.}

23 Apr 2024 13:11:37
MK mate, if we're talking about undeniable exceptions surely a certain GOAT joins Alisson and Fabinho in that bracket. He might be out of form and possibly off to SA next season, but let's not forget about him just yet ;)

3 points. Now for the lads to wake up, show some character and consistency with 5 more wins. Then hope Arsenal and City drop points. Odds are stacked against us but it's not impossible.

Alonso,
Spurs are going to have a massive say in this title race. definitely not over!

21 Apr 2024 22:44:20
Myrtle. You’re 100% spot on. Spurs will be up for Arsenal as is a derby, but more so because they don’t want to see them winning the league. And Spurs are City’s boogy team. If we can somehow win all our games we take the league, as I actually see a few games Arsenal can slip up. Chelsea, United and Spurs. As for City only one, possibly two. Brighton if they can somehow play like the Brighton of last season can beat them. But if I’m being honest City will most likely beat them. It’s down to Spurs to be the team to stop City. Definitely not over yet!

Fair play to Forest calling out PGMOL. The VAR official for their game was a Luton fan, obviously conflict if interest there. They warned PGMOL but they never changed that. Forest should have had at least 1 penalty if not 2 or 3 against Everton, none given and they have put their feelings out there on Twitter. Brave move, .

2nd+3rd pen appeals where dead certs, I dunno how they weren't given. Can't blame forest 2 b raging.

{Ed025's Note - the 3 were dead certs Digger, Forest were robbed and it does nothing to dispel rumours of corruption mate..

21 Apr 2024 21:46:11
A terrible decision according to both those gems at sky sports.

21 Apr 2024 21:30:53
Fair play to u ed25 to say that, not so sure on 1st but bloody hell how the other 2 weren't I will never know.
And grealish handball in cup as well. No way can officals with benefit of var can be getting these so wrong.

{Ed025's Note - and thats where the corruption accusations come into it Digger, if VAR cant see that mate then whats the point?..

22 Apr 2024 07:06:48
And all the headlines today are pointing to Forest being investigated for their comments.

AGAIN. accusations being swept under the carpet to protect individuals and a system from being investigated.

This is when the other teams need to be strong, and support a call for a deep investigation into how VAR is being used and by those who use it and enforce it.

{Ed025's Note - absolutely JLC, "something is rotten in the state of Denmark" mate..

22 Apr 2024 07:46:37
Forest should of had three pens no two ways about it i am now sure of a gang of cheats in that PGOML . How embarrasing was it to listen to the to Sky puppets cara and nevil what they had to say about forest the pens and their statement was unbelivable it was embarrasing to listen two clowns who are bad as PGOML with explanations the carra and nevil should be sacked tonight after they went on tv and said an employee of forest should be sacked tonight discusting asking for a man to loose his job because of he has a diffrent opinion on a football match .

22 Apr 2024 09:00:17
Just like all the pundits and presenters, these 2 have been given clear instructions to NEVER go against how the officials have officiated a match.

To think that they played at the highest level and are intentionally diverting attention away from the real issue is scandalous at best.

21 Apr 2024 13:07:04
Morning ed002,

Has Edwards and the new SD started working with the club? Or will it be when the season on ends?

Cheers
Drogie.

{Ed002's Note - Michael Edwards yes; Richard Hughes will join on June 1.}

Thanks.

Well what a fix that semi was, how could that of not been handball by grealish, then for var to give a goal kick, corruption at the highest level.

Million percent. They don’t even try to hide it anymore. Clear bias towards them each game.

21 Apr 2024 06:35:06
100% Magico.

Some will still call it incompetence, but it is so clearly corrupt people making corrupt decisions.

Whilst teams are getting points deductions. City seem untouchable.

Like everything else questioned about City. let's just brush it under the carpet.

21 Apr 2024 11:39:58
AI should run VAR.
Unemotional, consistent, will constantly improve game by game. Look at the goal line technology.

It will do some PGMOL officials out of a match day job which can be the only reason it’s not being embraced.

21 Apr 2024 15:17:35
of course its not a handball!
refer back to Ars vs Liv
NBA player OM in the box
if that's not a handball, of course what JG did isn't too
he was moving his hand towards his body eh?
he didn't have any intent to use his hands eh?
and it didn't impact the moment not the result eh? as the ball would have curved out for a goalkick anyway, so the ref and VAR just did what would have happened if the ball didn't touch anyone eh?
yea, ref and VAR correcting what really happened in the game to what might / could / would have happened based on their imagination.

Sorry not sorry. Some of the things I read about this team from supporters are absolutely absurd... a team that's given us so much, a manager who's given us so much, players who even throughout this season were said to be world class, Mo playing some of his best football at the beginning of the season, we couldn't believe how well oiled this new machinery of a midfield was looking, the excitement and the belief of winning four trophies, it all seemed plausible. Now it's been a rough month or so, bad results, tactics look sluggish, players tired, staff clueless. Supporters are ready to sell half of the team and throw every player, coach, cat and dog under the bus. Maybe it's the belief of it all that makes it seem so much more disappointing, I am sure as hell disappointed too.

I just want to offer another perspective. I think people might be downplaying just how much of an affect mentality can have. Players don't just turn absolutely sh*t over a period of a month. But when a manager who gave so much of himself suddenly not only looks, but also sounds so extremely defeatist - it not only kills the mentality of us as supporters, surely it does for the players as well. Who hasn't looked at Klopp lately and thought "phffffff, he looks absolutely deprived of energy" - that starts a train of thought, it sets the tone of our mindsets and puts a negative or tired spin on it. For us but just as likely for the players. It all starts from the top, and if it's left "untreated" it has free reign to fester and eat away at anything like flies in a pile of sh*it.

I hope Klopp is okay, I hope it's nothing serious. But it definitely seems like now is the right time to leave. The players however, they will bounce back once new energy is instilled.

Good post mate, I think you are probably spot on. We’ll miss Klopp a lot but not this version of him. I hope he can find the passion and energy again for one last almighty push. It must be so hard though to just switch it back on. Season was unfortunately just a month too long for his battery I reckon.
