I guess these sort of things shouldn't bother me, but they do. If we can't/ don't win the league this season, would I prefer City or Arsenal?

The answer should be simple; Arsenal. I always quite liked Arsenal actually, or at least I didn't dislike then in the way I do Manchester Utd, Chelsea, City. Not sure why, maybe it stems from the fact that for a number of years under Wenger they were the only team that came close to challenging Utd, so I got behind them for that reason. Lately though I really don't like them. I think it's mainly down to Arteta who I find really dislikable. On the other hand, I despise what City have done, and been allowed to do, and more generally I hate that clubs have been able to inorganically catapult themselves from also-rans to serial winners. So I hate everything about City and everything that they win.

However, if I look at it through the lens of Klopp and his legacy as he leaves, I find myself finding a City title win to be the lesser of two evils. As things stand, Klopp's Liverpool can hold their heads reasonably high in saying they have been the only club able to stop City's dominance. If City win the league, Liverpool will be the only team to stop them from winning the league in a seven year period. People who understand these things will know that had City been subject to more rigid and robust financial rules to stop clubs doing what they have done, Liverpool would likely have won a couple of more league titles during this period. If Arsenal win the league this season, then the unavoidable fact will be that in the nine years that Klopp has been at Liverpool; Arsenal/ Arteta and Leicester/ Ranieri will have won the same number of league titles. Of course we all value and love Klopp for more reasons than the one league title he has won, but one title in nine years for a manager who we consider amongst our greatest ever, and with a team that included players who were considered by many to be the best in the world in their positions (Alisson, van Dijk, both full backs, Fabinho, Salah) feels like we should have won more.

I get what you're saying RR, but neither Arsenal or Leicester have 'threatened' City before or since their title challenge (or win in Leicester's case}.

We have lost out by 1 point on a couple of occasions, and with a record points total one year, as well as winning it.

So I think with a PL title, CL title + another 2 finals, a Europa final, an FA cup and 2 Carabao cups we have acheived quite a lot in my book during Klopp's tenure so far.

I am disgusted with what I've been reading here. Can we all just leave salah alone for a while. Seriously. The hate is unfathomable. I'm a proud salah fan regardless of form, regardless of current achievements. I think many of us are. He's been one of the most important. posters the last few years- aye, he's not hitting the highs of previous seasons, but to want him to head off to greener pastures is mildly disrespectful. Give him a chance to pull his game together. In saloe we trust.

Singing your own praises again, eh aoe?

17 Apr 2024 00:15:36
Haven’t seen any hate, just people sad at his obvious loss of form and wondering if it’s an age thing.

That’s not hate, just sadness.

17 Apr 2024 02:36:24
Thank you very much me, I still have one fan :) . In saloe we trust indeed! Kind of enjoy speaking to myself, this is good! I think even Ed1 is one of us now he just won't admit it the funny onion.

Lol I hope you're doing well aoe, how is the new house?

{Ed001's Note - sshhh that's a secret.}

17 Apr 2024 03:12:39
Self praise is the best praise these days. Cheers salah mate- house is great, finally getting to write in peace annd quiet, and until recently all matches I’d watched had us soaring high. No idea how I jinxed us but it certainly happened around the fa cup.

{Ed001's Note - that's what happens when you are happy mate, if life doesn't find a way to ruin it, then your missus will as there is nothing they hate more than their other half being happy!!}

Agree with Ron, haven’t seen any hate, just concern that Mo is in decline, it’s sad to see arguably one of the greatest players the club has ever seen beginning to come to the end of his time with the club. It looks fairly clear that his legs are going as he’s lost that pace and acceleration that would get him past the fullback and he looks a shadow of his former self. To me that’s just time catching up with him. Does not diminish his achievements or his huge contribution to the club. He’s still a legend by some considerable margin and one of the best to ever pull a red shirt, like with any situation the time to part ways has to come eventually and it’s probably now while we stand a chance of attaining a good fee to reinvest. Whoever comes in to replace him has huge shoes to fill.

Reread the message victor and Ron. I was having a laugh. It wasn’t the best bit of wit, but you got to try.

17 Apr 2024 10:17:04
Just did, good effort aoe.

17 Apr 2024 13:44:05
Good one aoe, I must have been living under a record.

17 Apr 2024 13:47:55
Really happy to hear all is well mate, Ed1 is spot on yet again. What do we call ourselves now? SalaoEd1? Haha. Zed as well, the bloody nutter lol. We can't talk can we. Jesus ;) .

Could be worse lads. We could have Naby Keita still at the club, who’s just been suspended until the end of the season for refusing to travel with his team. He was annoyed he wasn’t in the starting 11 despite only playing about 100 minutes since joining them.
What an absolute waste of oxygen.

What a waste of talent, clearly he had the skill to be a good player but mentally just wasn't right.

16 Apr 2024 18:29:58
If you have a spare 45 minutes check out the Trent overlap interview, what an intelligent and articulate well mannered gentleman he is.

Taking notes from the interview I doubt he's going to be a one club wonder like Stevie and will probably join real Madrid before maybe bringing Jude back for a last hurrah.

If he does leave I hope he gets no stick and I can't see it happening for at least 3-5 years but I do think it will happen.

He’ll have no reason to leave if we start bringing in players to help us win the CL and league.

16 Apr 2024 22:35:26
Movement in football is normal so if he moves, he moves ?‍♂️.

17 Apr 2024 10:11:13
Didn't Stevie move to the MLS so he wasn't 1 club man either.

16 Apr 2024 16:48:53
Surely it is no coincidence that Sporting Lisbon will not do any business with us due to tapping up and the move to bring Amorim in as manager. We want ignacio so we have to have Amorim to facilitate the move.

So you are suggesting we are appointing a manager just so we can sign one player?

16 Apr 2024 20:16:58
Absolute nonsense.

16 Apr 2024 12:56:23
I know Alonso has previously said he is staying with Leverkuesen but surely there is always a price that can change his mind. I loved the way FSG aggressively went after Klopp and got him when he was the obvious standout character. Is there a possibility that they will do the same again with Alonso? The alternatives don't look hectic to me.

He’s going to Real Madrid, move on.

16 Apr 2024 15:53:44
Alonso was a world class player 20 years ago.
He’s made enough money to the point where his salary is irrelevant.

He gets to choose where he goes.

16 Apr 2024 16:35:51
You'd be surprised how many rich people can be swayed by more money ?.

16 Apr 2024 16:56:42
Alonso doesn’t strike me as that kind of person Adam.

Notwithstanding the fact that he’d inherit a better squad and bigger transfer funds at Madrid. He’s waiting for the Madrid job for football reasons not avarice.

16 Apr 2024 19:20:50
Klopp was unemployed. When he was in a job we went and got Rodgers from Swansea. I think Alonso may manage us in the future but I think his first destination will be Madrid in 12 months.

16 Apr 2024 22:36:48
I couldn’t give a toss about him anymore and will be very pleased to see Loserkussen bomb out next season and get relegated.

{Ed001's Note - really sad and bitter that Ken. You clearly do give a toss or why would you want them to bomb out and get relegated?}

17 Apr 2024 07:40:53
Worried about Ron personally. He was a ray of positivity and optimism back in the day. He disappeared for a long time and seems to be a different person and super negative.

Hope you’re doing ok mate and that if you’re not, there someone to talk to.

18 Apr 2024 12:00:51
He ain't coming, let's move on.

He doesn't seem to be the type of guy who would go back on his word after publicly saying he's staying. Also, I doubt the team would continue to waste time chasing him after his announcement.

Preparing for end of season heart break, what's your list? Whisky, Guiness, Italian Grappa, German schnaps, Vodka.

All suggestions are welcome.
