With the lack of strikers the club has, is there any chance we could go for someone like Darren Bent. He is a proven goal scorer in the EPL and he seems to start most games on the bench for Villa.
How much would he cost?
-Brett-

We still have Pacheco Morgan, Yessil who can be called up to play.

We'd be better of with David Brent than Darren Bent

Flagg

That is true, but they are all young and fairly inexperienced in the EPL. The only thing that seems to be lacking in Liverpool's game is scoring goals. They are playing great football, just cant seem to put the ball in the back of the net. Having a proven goal scorer would also take some pressure of Suarez as well.

Gotta say, Im not a huge fan. And ask yourself a question, if he cant even get a game at Villa, why would we want him? Nah, leave him there and spend our dosh elsewhere.

Bloody hell bent

Lol i have never seen that much unbelievable likes hehe

We would be better off with Sandra Redknapp

Did we sign Armin Hodzic?

We signed him on like a 6 year deal i read (whether its that long i don't know but i think he is highly rated)

Yes, he is in academy

Yeah he'll be joining up when he's 18

I live in Sarajevo, i remember watching him play for u17 of željezničar. A monster, bit like Elvir Baljić ( if you remeber him, you should, he was Real Madrid record singing 12 years ago)

He was signed in May 2011 but got injured but made his first appearance in July 2012 are injured for the reserves i think

The deals LFC wants to conclude in Jan

Mapou Mbiwa £4-6m including Stephen Sama or Danny Wilson on loan until the end of the season [most likely Sama]. (he is on his last season and has massive interest hence the price), Carragher's replacement.

David Villa on loan until the end of the season.

Quaresma - £1.5m, Cole's replacement.

Michel Bastos - £6m, Downing's replacement

spending = £14.5m

players to leave in January

Downing, Cole £10m

net spending = £4.5m

We also want to secure Fernando Llorente on Bosman (for the summer of 2013)

10 million for Downing. Nobody is stupid enough to pay that price.

10m for Downing and Cole is what we want but probably would be 9m

10 Oct 2012 03:37:32
Oh behave mate your in dream land, this is not football manager!

It's 10million for Downing AND Cole.

Btw, why is the Villa rumour surfacing again? He doesn't want to leave Spain and his wage is a problem.

As for Llorente, if we sign him, might as well recall Carroll back.

Even if the David Villa deal could happen, their would be a substantial (4m+) fee.

^^^^^ Llorente is a much better all round player than AC and would contribute much more.

If we can offload Downing and Cole for anything near 9m it will be good business.

FSG need to do something in Jan to help BR out up top , we are really not that far off a very good side. Mixing youth with experience and maybe adding a tad more pace we will be back.

You are also missing from the list:
Santa Claus
The Tooth Fairy
Pele
Gary Barlow
and The Partridge from the Pear Tree.

Llorente has said some unsavory things about LFC now why would he want to come after that?

Think about it and check out the comments Lllorente made about LFC hardly the sign of a player would have even the remotest thoughts of joining us

Llorente aint LFC bound if he comes to England more likely he will arrive in London and go to Chelsea

David Villa may be available for loan in January. He is best friends with Pepe Reina. Would you think a 6 month loan deal for Villa is out of the question?

Never gonna happen, he said he never wants to play outside of of his home country Spain, plus his wages, even though hes best mates with reina doesnt mean anything, also we cant offer champions league football!!

Cant say its completely out of the question- he's hardly getting any football at the moment, so may welcome the chance to play.

Yeah great idea, they could go out for dinner together

09 Oct 2012 21:09:39
Cristian eriksen flattered to be linked with us maybe a hint. What a signing that would be.
Scouse ben

Not going to happen! he's a self confessed Spurs fan who stated that other than Spurs he would jump at the chance of joining United

I think he would to come because in the past he totally denied liverpool fc as a club that he would join, now that BR is in charge and is giving young players starts especially over experienced ones plus the style of play suits him and his national captian the Dagger signing a new long term deal.

if we could just buy Eriksen, Dries Mertens, Aly Cissokho & Llorente we would be sorted for YEARRRS.

Eriksen 14m
Dries Mertens 11m
Llorente 8m
Aly Cissokho 7m

buy them all in January for 38m - 40m

sell downing 8m, carroll 17m, Enrique 6m, cole, spearing & pacheco 5m for 36m
= 4m+ net spending

Being a fan of a club is one thing, playing for a club is another thing. Remember Robbie Keane? He is (or was) a fan of 5 or 6 clubs.

I think we already have a player in Suso that will fill this position eventually.

We need DM cover and strikers if anything.

Not overly convinced with Suso yet , good potential but lightweight and goes missing. (Luis Garcia) Hopefully with more exposure to the premier league this will be addressed. At least its good to see the young players given a chance.

Not sure Suso goes missing? Do you judge that based on reserve team appearances?

For me, every time I have watched him play, he has been pretty much the standout player. In regards to his two first team appearances, he's been very good both times.

Ever asked a girl out and she says she's 'flattered'? Whats the next word out of her (lovely) mouth? 'BUT...'! Does she go out with you after being 'flattered'? No she doesn't.
Biscanifyoucan

Every players says that. Means nothing. He will not be a Liverpool player, nor do we need another midfielder.

Eriksen's been quoted as saying a move to Anfield is 'unlikely', plus he'd want Champions League which is far beyond our reach at the present time.

''I think he would to come because in the past he totally denied liverpool fc as a club that he would join, now that BR is in charge and is giving young players starts especially over experienced ones plus the style of play suits him and his national captian the Dagger signing a new long term deal.

Hi eds just read a rumour saying Liverpool are after

James Milner
John Guidetti

I wouldn't Mind John Guidetti after all The 20 year old netting 20 goals in 23 Eredivisie matches for Feyenoord but is now wasting away in the Man City reserves he sounds like a decent lad if we could get him cheap do you reckon he's worth giving ago to

but we don't need any more cm do we? in regards to James milner

ramythered {Ed001's Note - Milner can play wide as well, but I have heard nothing about any interest in him at all.}

Signing milner would be like signing downing all over again.

Milner loves lfc and would play for us but man city will keep him as he is a unsung hero a bit like ronnie whelan

Milner?! MILNER!? Has anybody been paying attention at all? There's no way he would fit into BR's style of play and there's no way we would move for him.
Biscanifyoucan

Guidetti would be a decent signing, could get him for a song i reckon. Goal Scoring machine last season but he's not going to get a look-in at city.

Maybe this Milner thing is a smoke screen - I reckon if he didn't come, but we ended up with Guidetti, Brendan would be a happy bunny!

Milner is garbage.

~Fresh

With Milner you know what you get he may not necessarily catch the eye but he is a good utility player being able to play wide & at fullback could possibly fill the defensive midfield role,good work ethic to boot
Paisley's genius

Id rather play with 10 men than have milner!

Viktor Fischer to Liverpool instead of signing a new contract

Didn't this guy tear us apart in the NextGen. I heard a whole host of top clubs including Man Utd and Chelsea are interested in him.

We should put in a bid for him and Kolbein Sigborrson

Id prefer Fischer instead of Eriksen as 1 he is younger and 2 cheaper at around 8m - 10m and a better talent

09 Oct 2012 19:08:14
Suarez to leave in jan..going to spain for 35mill
BR to get cash +another 10 mill for 2 strikers

Very possible.

09 Oct 2012 20:14:02
Suarez, Downing, Cole, Wilson, Enrique and Spearing for Falcao sounds good to me.

Would not be suprised

The only clubs that can interest Luis are Barcelona & Real Madrid, I doubt that one of these clubs will try to get him.

09 Oct 2012 22:13:23
up liverpool, never walk alone. i dnt think suarez should leave by nw coz he has so many things to do,pls do ur possible best to stop him. from NiGERIA

Suarez is our best player along with SG. How many players play with his commitment for the full 90 mins week in week out. We should be building the team around him and not looking to offload him just because we've got nobody to support him and then blame him for not scoring. There was a time when LFC kept the best players in the world and were the envy of every team in Europe. Be thankful we have a top class player that seems to love the red.

^^^^^^Agree^^^^^ Time to put that mindset into practice throughout the club!!!

Ive clicked "disagree" as I dont agree that the owners for stump up the whole of a fee, let alone and additional 10 mill...!

What a ridiculous, stupid post Suarez you may remember, signed a 4 YEAR DEAL TWO MONTHS AGO!
Also I haven't been on this site for a while and now I've come back to find that most of the posts are unintelligible or look like they've been written by a 5 year old, what's going on edds?

Benzo {Ed001's Note - I blame twitter personally.}

I'd much rather have Suarez than buy two forwards like Borini

09 Oct 2012 17:25:06
Eds? Any news regarding Wilfried Zaha or Angelo Ogbanna? {Ed002's Note - Liverpool is one of the clubs that has taken a look at Zaha this season.}

Can't see him coming? Think he'll choose from spurs or arsenal?

If we have to look back at zaha after kenny decided that he had not end product then BR must really be shopping on food stamps.

Maybe you should look BACK at zaha because he's doing a very good job of making Kenny eat his words with a string of match winning performances! We would be mad not to go for him!

Benzo {Ed001's Note - I have been watching him, he's nothing special, he offers nothing that we don't already have twice as good in the kids teams. Ibe and Sinclair are both far superior players to him.}

09 Oct 2012 16:39:24
any chance of isco this wintter? {Ed002's Note - I would very much doubt it.}

We will be all down in this winter of discontent at LFC

09 Oct 2012 16:24:32
Is Alexis Sanchez a serious target? I bet Barca are willing to part ways with one forward so they can continue to pay off Neymars fee {Ed002's Note - I would not hold your breath about Sanchez moving to Liverpool and Barcelona are not paying anything in respect of Neymar.}

What are you talking about?

Who is paying for neymar then ed??

majestic69 {Ed002's Note - Nobody is paying for him. He is a Santos player.}

It was on (I know I know) think he would be brilliant as our central attacker,intelligent,clinical & skiful...... Oh to dream eh fellow reds? Jft96
Paisley's genius

Many respected journalists have said Barcelona have put a downpayment on him.. he is going there. {Ed002's Note - They are wrong. Sorry.}

No name dominated by ed002
brendanusa

He's going to Barca. Whether they've paid for him or not yet is not important, but he IS going to Barca. I heard that the forward they're willing to part with most is Villa due to age. But Villa will probably still stay in Spain. {Ed002's Note - There is no agreement for him to go anywhere but he could one day end up at BArcelona. They have not paid any money for him.}

09 Oct 2012 15:21:42
has we scouted angelo ogbonna? do u think it will be a good signing? or we are scouting other players in Italy?

09 Oct 2012 12:07:12
Hey Eds,

As we are looking for a new Left back have we ever looked at Leighton Baines ? And how much do Everton value him at?

Thks

Thatracoonstolemybacon {Ed001's Note - not going to happen.}

He's an Everton fan isn't he?

Well apparently he was a boyhood Liverpool fan. 20m

Baines about 20M and he hates LFC

I actually do know a mate of his who's Red and as much as he'd love to play for his childhood team it's not worth all the abuse him or his family would take if he signed

Since when do Everton sell us their players?

Hi eds/Macca, we all know Liverpool need a striker. What arebthe chances of a certain Fernando Torres coming in? Not the one everyone will be thinking of, if you get what I mean? Whats his situation at Bilbao, last I heard he had fallen out with Management and was looking to move?
Also, think people slating Shelvey and praising Cleverly in the media should look at the two players. Shelvey is a box to box centre mid with pace and finishing abiility, something that only Gerrard and Lampard bring to the England team. Cleverly is a passing centre mid who only really operates between boxes, something already presented in abundance with the likes of Barry, Wilshere, Huddlestone to name just a few. I know the criticism has not come from this site, this is just a place to vent my opinionated rage at the Twits posting to the bbc sportsday.

Anfield Andy {Ed002's Note - Fernando Llorente is interesting Juventus, Spurs, Chelsea and Manchester City with rumours of interest from Arsenal and perhaps even Liverpool as well. There is a very good chance that he will move next year although there are talks continuing with Juventus over a January move, and that seems his most likely destination to me.}

Shelvey a box to box midfielder with pace? Really? We must be watching a different player. He does get back but it's pretty pointless as are Paul scholes can probably put in a better tackle and is probably as quick too. I do rate him though. Best position is just behind striker

Hi eds know it's only paper talk,but is there any truth
in the rumours were lining up a bid for christian eriksen as a replacement for gerrard?. {Ed002's Note - No.}

09 Oct 2012 11:53:27
Wasn't Jonjo Shelvey bought to be a replacement for Gerrard? He looks the part now

Rocky

James Morrison is being lined up as a replacement for Stevie G.

Would be a dream if it were true. think he has his heart set on barca or real

Erikson - what a joke FSG are Broke

Next it will be Hulk and Falcao

Time to get real FFS

When is the penny going to drop FSG are poor owners and should leave LFC before they destroy it.

Its a report coming out of not even paper talk thats that then forget about that.tommy Irish Red

Re: James Morrison. I think he has a fantastic player and he could be a very useful addition to the side. If we get him for a realistic fee it would be a good signing.

09 Oct 2012 08:08:45
can i ask if there is any news on Gerard Deulofeu from Barca. He isnt playing anywhere, he is young, fits our style of play like a glove and is a wonderful gifted player. I know we spoke about him in the summer but nothing happened. any news? thanks {Ed002's Note - There is no news related to Liverpool and he remains with the BArcelona B squad. There has been interest in Deulofeu and Roberto from anoth EPL side but I doubt anything will happen.}

Eds,

Following up all the late transfer window talk of Aubameyang, just wondering if there is any updated whispers on the lad.

Impressive start in Ligue 1 surely interest has picked up from a few sides and hoping our rumoured keenness is real.

Bringing him in along with Mertens, whilst offloading Downing & Cole would be an ideal yet probably unrealistic Winters work.

Finally just for the hassle, is there any interest in LB's? Or is Johnson recognised as adequate cover there even if Enrique left the club..

Cheers for the work guys!

Wizard from Oz {Ed001's Note - nothing new regarding us and Aubameyang, just talk of others watching him as well. Though we have definitely had the lad watched. Left back is a position that is being sought, Enrique is not wanted, Johnson is only seen as cover, not as a first choice left back.}

According to you, ed, who's our first choice right back then?

I do agree with the OP about Aubameyang and hope we get him in the next few windows (january 2013 would be ideal).

Do you know of any solid interest in a particular LB or is it too early to tell?

The players I'd offload would be Cole, Enrique and possibly Downing.

Cheers
YNWA
JFT96

I think Johnson really flourish as a left-back. When him and Sterling are running down the flanks, that scared a lot of teams.

Eds is that why we are looking at Italian Ogbonna of Torini to solve the LB problem he is a very good and solid defender but not sure on the price he would command.

BigD

I reckon we're fine for full backs.. even if enrique and downing (not really a lb though) depart:

Glen Johnson
Martin Kelly
Jon Flanagan
Andre Wisdom
Jack Robinson

why waste money! stick with the youth!

Ed001 You seem very sure that Enrique is not wanted. Whereas he expresses that he has had an injury that has held him back. Can I ask where you get that impression? I had the same feeling but I have no links... apart from what you guys say ;o)

cheers
Tim {Ed001's Note - just what I am being told. Though I would have had that feeling anyway, due to his poor performances, at the end of last season and since returning from injury. He is now so far off a first team place that Rodgers prefers to bring Wisdom in on the right and Robinson in for Europa League games.}

It's a shame, from what I've seen/heard of Enrique, he's a genuinely nice guy, always laughing etc.. But, if he's not good enough, then he isn't good enough.

ChrisMiz

Many thanks Ed001 for the reply, really appreciate it.

Following up your comments on LB being a problem position, do we have any targets at this stage? Or is BR happy with giving the youth a chance?

Thanks again!

Wizard from Oz {Ed001's Note - we did look for one in the summer, but it is not seen as the main priority, striker is still the immediate worry. As such, lb will most likely have to wait, with Robbo being close to being ready anyway, it has made it difficult to get the right lb.}
