I have read it somewhere.
Is it true that Liverpool have agreed personal terms with Lyon player Tonguy Ndombele?
Eds please confirm if u know anything.

Believable0 Unbelievable8

{Ed002's Note - apparently someone said on Twitter that lots of clubs had done this - but he did not mention Liverpool. And they have shown no interest- and I think the club is happy with Fabinho

Is there a contract on the table for Milner? I know about the situation with Leeds, but has LFC shown interest to keep him? Hopefully yes.

Believable17 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - yes.}

09 May 2019 13:11:15
Awesome news! Not that I wish Leeds falure to get promoted, but I really hope to see Milner stay at least for another season.

09 May 2019 14:08:56
I really like Milner but if we buy 2 new full backs and a Brandt type player I just don't think he will get the games he requires.

Gini
Hendo
Kieta
Ox
Fabs
Brandt type

If Fabs plays most games as the holding midfielder then that only leaves 2 places. I don't think he will want to stay just as cover.
Maybe even Trent for a few games.

When does his contract expire Ed? Sly saying end of this season but I thought it was next?

Milner offers more than on the pitch, if he is happier not playing as much, he should stay. Can cover fullbacks as well. Know won’t let us down, role model, vice captain, plus with Keita and ox having regular injuries this year, he may be needed more than we think.

Games like Tuesday, I’d rather Milner than Keita as it stands.

Agreed Ron, definitely good enough to be our second striker.

No amount of money can buy Milners experience, dedication and heart.
Said it during the game on Tuesday that when he does leave he will be sorely missed.

{Ed025's Note - your dead right verdo..

10 May 2019 01:55:32
I'd love to see him stay, always reliable and despite his age he takes care of himself impeccably so can still play at a high level. More importantly he's a fantastic person and his attitude is what you need around a squad.

Seeing him in tears after Barcelona game sums him up as a player and person.

10 May 2019 05:44:14
100% verdo.
It would be easier replacing Salah if/ when he goes than replacing Millie.
Will a life time supply of Ribena do the trick?

Agree6 Disagree1

10 May 2019 13:02:06
I don't think a player has changed my opinion of them as much as Milner has done since he has been with us. What a pro, what consistent effort and love for the game in general and just gets on with the job wherever he is asked to play, even when he is open about his preferences. I would move heaven and earth to keep him at LFC now and will be gutted if he decides to move on.

Agree5 Disagree0

10 May 2019 22:09:58
We owe Milner BIG time, he has been such a professional, I reckon he'd don a set of GK gloves and play there if asked. Deserves a trophy with LFC . he'll definitely Never Walk Alone!

westwood could not agree with you more when we signed him I thought what are we signing him for Mr reliable. but for me I all ways thought 6/ 10 but he has been at least an 8/ 10 most games. And the season he played left back when he signed to play Cm and just got on with it with no fuss great pro don't get many like him any more think we are very lucky to have a few of them in are club.

Ed02 if your about pal a quick question if possible! When a certain transfer goes through regardless of price do all the authorities get a percentage Fifa, UEFA, FA or us it just club and agent?

Believable6 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - It might be an apt time to explain again about the cost of transfers (excluding wages). What is paid by the buying club would typically include:

(a) Transfer fee - the big number.
(b) Any levy applied by the local FA – 5% for the Premier League.
(c) Tax due on the transfer fee – typically this will be VAT (at varying rates across Europe) some or all of which should be reclaimable.
(d) Agent fees – this may be to one or more agents (as an example, Liverpool have spent £44M plus VAT on agent fees (nearly double the next highest) last season alone).
(e) Tax due on the agent fees – typically this is VAT at the local rate where the agent bills from – it is not reclaimable.
(f) Intermediary fees – this may be to one or more sponging leeches (what do you mean you have a super agent?) .
(g) Tax due on the Intermediary fees – typically this is VAT at the local rate where the Intermediary bills from – it is not reclaimable.
(h) Signing on fee to the player (possibly including non-reclaimable VAT if the player is VAT registered).
(i) Legal fees.
(j) VAT on legal fees which is reclaimable.
(k) Moving/relocation costs for the player.
(l) VAT on moving/relocation costs which is reclaimable.
(m) Solidarity and Traing Contribututions (see below).
(n) Paying up insurance costs to the selling club (usually waived).

What is paid by the selling club would typically include:

(a) If the player is under 24 and moving between different football associations, a Solidarity contribution paid to his previous clubs responsible for his training - this is 5% of the transfer fee received (apportioned 5% of the contribution for each year from the season of his 12th birthday to the season of his 15th birthday and 10% of the contribution for each season from his 16th to 23rd birthdays). This is generally (there are exceptions) recoverable from the buying club but responsibility (that is meant to be with the buying club) can be assigned to the selling club.
(b) If the player moves to a higher category club (all clubs being categorised 1 to 4) then Training Compensation is due for the period of age 12 to 21. Compensation is due to all clubs when the player turns from amateur to professional and thereafter only when he moves from his final training club to another club. The initial training compensation is levied at the training costs associated with Category 4 clubs. The subsequent figure is agreed between the sides or tribuneral if necessary. This is generally (there are exceptions) recoverable from the buying club but responsibility (that is meant to be with the buying club) can be assigned to the selling club.
(c) Any monies owed to the player if he did not request a transfer – again this is 5% of the transfer fee received.
(d) Any monies owed to the player in terms of his contract (typically outstanding owed wages (not future wages) and bonuses).
(e) Any money contractually due to a previous club as the result of a sell-on clause.}

Hi Eds,

Such a good break down! Did football always have intermediary fees? I noticed you linked this to "sponging leeches" I 100% agree on that note, but I'm wondering did football transfers always have leeches, or did this only become a thing until clubs started paying millions for players?

Thanks for all your great work :)

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Some clubs have refused to pay them - notably two Premier League sides. They have been around for quite a number of years.}

09 May 2019 13:53:17
Who exactly is the selling club paying all this to?

Agree0 Disagree8

{Ed002's Note - I assume you could not be bothered to read it.}

Why has Liverpool paid more than double the next club in agent fees? I know brought in several expensive players, but it seems we are paying a higher ratio of agent fees than other clubs.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - They are not terribly smart.}

09 May 2019 19:08:38
Would highly recommend people save this breakdown, it's helped me keep my feet on the ground for the last couple years at this point.

09 May 2019 21:21:52
Regarding the solidarity fee, if a player moves a number of times before he is 24 eg Sancho to Germany and then to Spain (say) and then back to England, does it get paid each time? If so does it get paid to every club since he was 12 again?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - First signing as a pro after leaving his training club and each International transfer. So in your example yes it would get paid each time until he is 24.}

10 May 2019 07:01:29
Someone asked why we spent nearly double in agent fees, larger transfer fees and spending more than anyone else contribute to this skew also.

I've just called Anfield to check if they plan to show the final this season like they did last year. I was told that there are no plans to do so, but if things change then it will go up on the website.

Sounded like a rehearsed answer to me, so I guess it's a wait an see.

Do I book a hotel room or not?! 🤷‍♂️😂

Anyway, thought I'd share that to save other ringing up too.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Thanks Z. They are probably too busy sorting out the hospitality tickets anyway.}

Well worth booking a room in liverpool anyway there won't be many bars without the game on and the atmosphere will be insane, took the girlfriend to watch the seville game and despite my horrible mood after the game she still fell in love with the passion in the city, 3rd time lucky for her to see us lift a european trophy our hotel was booked 10 mins after the whistle!

Think we’ll have to use this year as the barometer ed, if it all goes pear shaped he’s going to have some tough choices to make.
Joking aside, just read something that suggested the game mightn’t be shown due to the take that concert taking place at Anfield 🙄. Anyway, the atmosphere in the city will be electric and I’m sure if we all pray, show how deep is our love for LFC and have a little patience, the good times could be back for good and we could go on to rule the world. These days, it only takes a minute to score a goal, could it be magic?, absolutely if our players shine and never forget, everything changes in a game so quickly and even if we fall behind, if we play like giants it could still be the greatest day.

Agree3 Disagree1

09 May 2019 21:35:04
The game is not going to be shown at Anfield due to the commitments to the concerts being held. The merchandising for the final has been hampered also by these previous commitments.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 May 2019 22:21:10
It was a fantastic atmosphere last year and something nice to do for those fans like myself who missed out on tickets in the ballot.

Fingers crossed I’ll be in Madrid this year so won’t have to worry about it!

One thought is that the ground is hosting a take that concert on the Thursday after. Perhaps too little time to clear the necessaries to show the final and then set up for the concert? (I doubt it but you never know) .

Agree0 Disagree0

09 May 2019 23:16:28

There will be plenty of bars in the city centre to watch it and the atmosphere will be amazing. Also read that they might be showing it at the Echo Arena like the last couple of finals.

11 May 2019 15:02:37
It could be due to the concerts that we are having at Anfield this years off season for the first time make it unavailable.

Hi Eds, loads of reports in both the English and Turkish media that Liverpool have moved in with an offer of £18million for Trabzonspor's 19 year old playmaker Abdulkadir Omur. Firstly, is it even true? Secondly, (if it is true) will it be as a replacement for any existing player/ s? Thanks in advance.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - It sounds like old news but certainly a number of sides have shown an interest in him inclding Roma, Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid. Trabzonspor have recently mentioned a number of clubs "watching" him to include Barcelona, Manchester City and Manchester United - but that seems a little far fetched. I am not aware of a Liverpool offer at this time.}
