Not so much a rumour more a 'Whadyathink'...

Personally I think we could do with a strong tough tackling Midfielder to beef up the middle...so 'Whadyathink' about Nigle de jong as a pos. Signing..on the cheap perhaps?

Him and Bellamy in the same team! Opposition Beware. {Ed002's Note - His wages would be a major issue. I really don't see it.}

Why would he be cheap??

Do people forget Lucas is coming back?
N De Jong would be an underused luxury we can't afford. I agree that Spearing has shown he can't be a 1st team regular but that still leaves Gerrard, Lucas, Adam, Hendo, Shelvey & possibly Coady fighting for 2 spots on the team. The first two are priority picks - Hendo and Shelvey are projects ready for opportunity.

Huntelaar
Lewandowski
De Jong
One of those forwards would be perfect. Do you think we are looking at forwards Ed? If so, who do you think we would most likely to sign? {Ed022's Note - Yes we are looking at forwards mate. Luuk De Jong looks fairly likely.}

Hokey Ed, you say fairly likely. I'm not asking for a % but just wondered why fairly likely? I know we have had him watched but is there anything else?

Thanks as always {Ed002's Note - Liverpool have a sustained interest in de Jong.}

I appreciate the sustained interest.....but is the feeling mutual? ie. I'm comfortable based on what I've heard from you guys that its fairly likely we'll be in for him......But does it remain fairly likely that he would still want to come to us in the face of other competition? (such as the very exciting german champions). and will our interest be just as strong at a potentially higher price? {Ed002's Note - Players are not always as fickle as that. He has to look at where he will be playing, what opportunities he will have etc.. I have no feeling for where he will end up, but I do agree that there is much interest in him.}

Nowadays u dnt no wat 2 expect frm lfc like who on earth would have ever thort we wer goin in for Henderson last summer ? But it happend in the blink of a eye even carrolls was unexpected bt nt as much as we were desperate for striker then... So who knows wats gna happen in the summer

Hernanes' agent has said his player is staying put at Lazio, according to Sky sports.

09 May 2012 21:54:46
Munain is immense no chance of getting him!

We are Liverpool of course we have a chance looked great tonight but his style reminds me of Sterling just Muniains doing it on a higher level as he's had the chance

I believe Macca or one of the Eds. has stated that he's on the wish list - so there must be some feasibility

Through the Storm

Bet he would love to start his Europa campaign off first week in August
No chance he,ll go to a top club in eurppe

09 May 2012 21:54:45
After speakking to my sources i believe we'll sign A. johnson and Defoe! Believe me if
You want im not fussed! Also SSN has just said Juventus want Suarez and RVP! Your thoughts Edward?
RedRob {Ed002's Note - I have explained the desires of Juventus many times over recent weeks.}

Just heard off a freind of mine joachim lowe to b next manager will b announced after euros same person got roy hodgson to b nxt england manager right so got a good source what do you think eds macca hope not i say give the king more time he will get things right ynwa jf96

Then i have to assume both england manager and lfc manager are selected by the same group of people.

He was right purely since there was a 50% chance he would be

Why would Low leave one the youngest, most talented national squads in the world two years before a World Cup? Think before you post.

Hi eds is it true that giroud is being looked
at by us or is it just rubbish if so is it. True he's bayern bound

Thanks
Alec {Ed022's Note - I am not aware of any Liverpool interest in Giroud at this time. Feel free to have a look at the Player Profile on him though! (I need to stop plugging for my site haha)}

09 May 2012 20:54:34
hi ed what do think of gaston ramirez as a player. is he good enough to play in the premier league? {Ed022's Note - Oh boy have you asked the write Ed. www.player-profiles.co.uk - check out the profile on Ramirez and it's all covered there my friend.}

Actually, I believe Alec has asked the right Ed
Pernickety Red {Ed022's Note - How on earth did I spell that wrong? I apologise all, that's awful.}

You could cover quickly by saying it was a pun on the fact that you do the 'write'-ups on players for the profiling site...

Hi Ed,

Is Van Der Wiel a target to replace Glen at RB should he move on? Ive tried searching through previous posts but I couldnt find the answer I was looking for.

I understand Isla is a target but do you or anyone else know of other potential targets for that position?

Thanks

Kam {Ed002's Note - Van Der Wiel will probably move in the summer and his preference remains Spain - and something may yet be worked out with Valencia. Real Madrid have also shown an interest in the player. Chelsea may maintain an interest but they remain more interested in Azpilicueta.}

Just had a word with one of my mates who works in Boston for the red sox. Speaks to John Henry a few times a week as he is in a sort of high management position over in boston. Said he was on the gold course with Henry earlier today and they got talking about LFC. My mate obviously knows I am a LFC fan so he trys to get info for me, rarely he gets much tbh as Henry is usually quite tight lipped, but he said Henry said to him today that he will be over in Liverpool alot in the next month or so because he will be looking to find a new manager as the current manager was looking to step down.

Take it with a pinch of salt, but the only other times my mate has been able to tell me stuff was the DC sacking, and the Hodgson sacking.He gets no info at all on transfers but Henry tends to tell him when he will be spending time in Liverpool due to change in management at LFC {Ed022's Note - Wow, your friend spent time with Mr Henry on the Gold Course? I bet that's worth a few pennies! Is that like a racing track made out of solid gold or something? I mean, I know Mr Henry was fairly rich, but that just takes the p*ss boy!}

Yeah right

What a load of.....

Interesting approach though!

I meant golf course

Isn't the Gold Course a strip club? Oh Mr. Henry....!!

Thats the best yet

Lol... John Henry would be the last person I could picture playing golf...

Like Mr.Burns.

KKM {Ed022's Note - But the first person I can imagine in a strip club. Not sure why he'd be there though as his mrs is SMOKING hot. (I'm being slightly unprofessional now).}

Why has someone wasted their ( and our ) time by posting this? {Ed022's Note - Because I enjoy wasting peoples time. Guilty as charged.}

I was on the golf course with John today and your mate wasn't there. It was a four ball with Elvis and metal mikey

Everyone knows metal Mickey can't play golf ......ffs

On a par with the 'my mates a high class window cleaner in fulham...clint dempsey...screensaver of the wirral on pc...' rumour from january.

Ha I remember that post. Could yet prove to be true...

Haha What a ripper......

Unless Elvis or Metal Mickey are his mates and that is where he gets his info from !!

Whats his handicap?

Is Joe Lewis an option if Doni leaves as he would be on a free transfer if we did decide to move.
thanks
Smithy. {Ed022's Note - Don't think so mate, though he's not a bad keeper I must say.}

Great boxer tho!!

Hi ed. I have no idea who this guy is so you will have to excuse my ignorance but I believe he's just been released by Peterborough? Although you shouldnt always trust wikipedia ha. My question is, are you being sarcastic about him being a good keeper, being released by a low championship side (if true) isn't exactly a good start (unless it's something behind the scenes). However, assuming wiki is right and you are being serious, why would he not be considered an option?

Ta in advance,

100% Cotton {Ed022's Note - From what I've seen of him he isn't a bad keeper at all. I have no idea why he was released, perhaps it's something I'll chase up. I doubt Liverpool will look at him but never say never I suppose.}

Joe lewis is not a good keeper he is horrendous.

Trust me I am a Peterborough season ticket holder and Lewis is terrible.

This question is to Macca. Whether he answers it or not. well i hope he does!

Macca you say Munain is one of our top targets right? Well the rest of the Ed's dont agree. Which they don't have to ofcourse you have you own sources I assume. But what im asking is what are our chances of getting him. He has been touted around europe and it just doesnt seem to add up in my opinion. But are you still confident in what you said and that are our chances great? (whether that % or out of 10) you know what i mean? if you end up wrong up i wont bug you things change something dont happen its life. im just wondering if you could answer those 2 questions! Thanks! JLFC

JLFC,

The only thing i can say is that he is a target, i have no idea if he will sign or not..

One thing i will say is that we need to start believing in the owners because they are a group of very wealthy individuals who want to see us do well..

Cheers

Macca {Ed022's Note - Yes everyone, this is the real Macca. He has said from the start he is a target and we're grateful as Ed's for Macca sharing his information. Cheers.}

Are our chances great and the confident in what you said are two different things by the way sorry

And regarding the owners comment. i fully agree. they have lots of money. and can obviously pay astronomical wages if needed. (they are a baseball company!)

I fully agree Macca,I'm sick of people like Tony Evans criticising them because he doesn't want to Criticise Kenny...

He called them clueless the other night.

I think they have done nothing but good for the club since coming in.

They have provided funds for players,it's not their fault that they were spent poorly.

Do people want them to scout the players too?

I believe they hadn't really got a choice but to appoint Dalglisg after making him interim manager and him doing well.

It's now up to them whether to give him more time or not.

I think they will do what they think is best for the club and not be so afraid of fan backlash if needs be.

After seeing some of the decisions they made with the Red Sox I wouldn't be too surprised if they did sack him or ask to step down...

KKM..

Just heard something about jackson martinez' agent confirming intrest or a approach maybe do ed's know of this?
{Ed002's Note - Nope.}

09 May 2012 20:14:19
Just a quick question - when does the summer transfer window open for Domestic and then International transfers?

Im expecting very little movement until after the Euros especially for European players.

YNWA jns {Ed002's Note - End of the season and July 1.}

09 May 2012 20:12:20
Hi Eds, with everyone on about Bilbao players, I'm just wondering whether Bilbao have any financial need to listen to offers? Or are they pretty secure financially? Cheers!

DP {Ed002's Note - The whole of Spain is suffering financially and ertainly some clubs are really struggling financially. Racing Santander, Zaragoza and Betis are in worst shape.}

Let the Falcao to Liverpool rumours begin.

Daniel Rogers.

Wot a player!! Him and Suarez would be a dream zzzzzz if only Lar !!!

Redthroughandthrough

Falcao off he's not that great!

Gav

Funny you should mention Falcao , as I have an ex girlfriend , who drinks in the same bar as him , and he was reading a teach yourself scouse book , and eating fish and chips , so maybe .
redforever

Oh Soz Gav!
I take it you are a top scout ? Who would you go for you scouse wanabe? Andy Carroll ?? Redthroughandthrough

Although Falcao is Colombian, I heard a rumour resently he is of Geordie descent. Considering we usually spend about 40m a transfer market on northeners who love gravy, I think there's a 96% chance we will sign Falcao.

Blurts !! Go back to where ya's come from! Not merseyside I guess? Support your own hometown team ;-)))))

Redthroughandthrough

There not rumours it's a done deal I am sure of it

Cool...first player to win Europa Cup with 3 different clubs next year?

09 May 2012 19:27:19
Hey Eds, do we have any scouts watching the europa league final tonight for players such as muniain, martinez etc? Also, I understand we're looking at Gaston Ramirez, but would he be employed as a winger or a more central attacking mid role? Cheers, TheRedOne {Ed002's Note - I don't know about the scouts. Gaston Ramirez has been watched by Liverpool but I still remain unsure as to how strong the interest is from the club but would not be at all surprised if a push was made to sign him. He was available in January for about 15M euro plus a signing on fee - but Liverpool did not follow up on their initial enquiry. However, Ramirez will move in the summer with interest being shown by Napoli, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, Palermo and Juventus, who have made a firm offer. Unsubstantiated rumours suggest Manchester United, Manchester City, Spurs, Barcelona, Chelsea and Real Madrid are also interested. Sevilla were interested but I understand that Ramirez has no interest in such a move. At present, Napoli are very much favourites for his signature. Discussions have now taken place between Bologna and Napoli - adding to discussions that have taken place with Juventus. Whilst Napoli are very much favourites for his signature at this time we cannot rule out Bayern Munich and Liverpool. My understanding is that his recent words from his agent about an offer from an "important" EPL club having been made has been clarified to say that he had been misquoted and that an offer is being prepared to be submitted by an EPL club. So he is not saying that he was wrong just misquoted and the offer is on its way - which I guess makes more sense. He also said he had spoken with a "significant" German team - which I assume to Bayern Munich but it remains clear if he contacted them or they contacted him. His final statement was that Bologna would not make any decision on the future of the player until the season is over - which sort of implies that Bologna have forced him in to all of this. So as before, don't rule out Napoli, Liverpool or Bayern Munich.}

09 May 2012 19:26:25
Hello Eds,
is Brad Jones destined to leave?thanks {Ed002's Note - I don't know - I think it more likely Doni will go right now.}

09 May 2012 19:00:53
is this elia rumour just recycled or has there been recent interest? {Ed002's Note - It is seemingly speculation as Liverpool have been interested before and he will be moving this summer. It also is perhaps reasoned speculation.}

Get him on the cheap (under 10M). Worth the chance

09 May 2012 18:58:28
ed is there any chance of herrera leaving bilbao, are LFC interested? cheers! JF LFC {Ed002's Note - No.}

09 May 2012 18:26:56
Hi ed, how much would we be looking to receive if kuyt goes to germany or any other club? {Ed002's Note - Not much. There is a clause that can see it be as low as £1M but we do not know the provisions of the clause. If put on the spot I would say £2.37M.}

.....and 17 pence.

For that i would rather see him stay.. same as ryan babel

Why 2.37 why dont just say around 2.5 mill {Ed002's Note - Why 2.5, why not 3 or 10?

09 May 2012 18:04:09
Eds, is there a chance Downing and/or Adam will leave this summer? {Ed002's Note - I am not sure that either is scheduled to leave.}

09 May 2012 18:03:31
Hi eds, just wondering it says in sky sports that juventus could be in for van persie, suarez and higuain just wondering who is most likely to join them and the overall chances of suarez moving.
Also who if you had to say would be our main targets and in what positions?
Tnx
DDEK {Ed002's Note - I don't see Van Persie moving to Turin but Juventus do have an interest in both of the others. As for targets, plenty are discussed on a day by day basis and you need to keep up with the posts.}

09 May 2012 17:47:36
For those asking why lfc haven't made any moves regarding new signing, I'm told Kenny will step down in the next few weeks.

The_Insider

... Or maybe.. Just maybe, we will wait until July 1st like every other team?

Well... Arsenal have signed Podolski... You douchebag {Ed002's Note - No, Arsenal will sign him on or after July 1. And try not to be so rude.}

Well said mate, no manners ! as for players , how do you know lfc do not have signings in place ?

Douchebag?? Bloody Americans

Dalglish is King!

Common misunderstanding by the first replier. Just because signings don't become official til July 1st doesn't mean teams aren't making moves (ala Arsenal/Chelsea as current examples).

You would be foolish to think that teams are not making moves well in advance of July 1. Hell, Munich even 'signed' Shaqiri months ago for the July window. When Djib Cisse came to us that was well in advance of the window (if I remember correctly).

09 May 2012 17:38:37
Jonjo Shelvey cost £1.7 million
Jordan Henderson cost £17 - 20 million
this post has nothing to do with Henderson and his ability or complaining about his price, this is just to show Jonjo's price and what we got in return, i Believe that is what FSG want. Low cost, inexperienced but with a physique and ability to make it at premier league level, young 18-22.

Your absolutely right. Jonjo much better player the Hendo, any day.

Just common sense really but will require patience from us in the stands but will bring results in the long run I do believe this will work

Low cost and inexperiance doesnt win you titles

Never really understood the Henderson purchase. I thought we make a big deal about the academy precisely to avoid paying huge sums for young players, and produce more Jonjo's.

High cost and rubbish doesnt win you titles too.

And the same goes for wilson I personally feel he feel come good if sent on loan to a premier league team.

That is why Jordan Rhodes could be a good buy, he only has to do it at the top level in a few games and his value will rocket

Sweetcorn

When we have the likes of suso, sterling why did we pay 17m for henderson, who is only 2 year older and does not look like a world beater? with that money steve bruce purchased two players from united. no wonder the DOF had to go and perhaps the manager may have to as well!

Henderson is quality, so is shelvey. however henderson has an engine. important attribute for a cm

How are people still so stupid to get hung up on the inflated price tags...duing that window all British/English Players were to be sold at the highest price due to homegrown rules right? or x amount of english/British players in squad...at put the past aside there is obvious room for true potential...a ton of you slagged andy carrol to death...tow or three recent outstanding performances and you all sing his name?? Lucas anyone...GIVE PEOPLE THE TIME if not the RESPECT!

Dalglish is King all you treasonous negatives...Long live the...

Henderson makes less passin mistakes than shelvey altho shelvey tries the harder passes... henderson runs so much during a game and cover so much ground n dats why he keeps startin n maxi (who doesnt run much) doesnt start ahead of downing

Great post Sweetcorn

totally agree on Jordan Rhodes...would be a well calculated gamble considering his upside

numondo

First off, calling people treasonous b/c they are critical of the club is idiotic. This isn't a monarchy; the club owes its supporters as much, if not more than, what they owe to the club. Secondly, it would be a mistake to dismiss Henderson (or Carroll, for that matter) so quickly. One poor season should not be taken as evidence of what will follow. The moves will only be failures if they the players are not given the chance to prove themselves. Gareth Bale sucked for a while before he became every newspaper's favorite player.

Henderson is quality and jonjo isn't great to be honest!!

People seem to think Jonjo is better because he is good on the ball. However, off the ball Henderson is far far superior. Last season, the player who covered the most ground/match for us was Raul Meireles. Henderson covers more than that.

Henderson is also a more intelligent player and appears in better positions.

Shelvey is a more comparable player to Adam than Henderson imo

Ed, what would you say are the chances of Kuyt ending up back at Feyenoord are? Cheers

ToonRed {Ed002's Note - Possible but I suspect Hamburg stand a better chance of signing Kuyt.}

pepe to be replaced with hugo loris(spelling ) of lyon

Or Reina to work on his game and stay with us. He's not a spent force you know.

Jonesred

I agree if reina stay it would be great but if he want to leave lloris is the best option

Vivek12011

Lloris is a great keeper, but personally i would go for Akinfeev or Stelekenburg, but really, i'd rather keep Pepe, yea he's made a few mistakes, but he is world class and one of the best

I'd give Gulacsi a shot.

Club are showing tentative interest in picking up Junior Hoilett on a free when his contract runs out. However its more likely he will move to a club which guarantees him first team football, Sunderland and Villa are in poll position.

09 May 2012 15:51:00
are liverpool interested in welliton eds ?

collins {Ed002's Note - Welliton will be available at the right price but I don't see that Liverpool have any interest in him at this time. Dortmund were interested and a player exchange involving Lewandowski was thought possible in January, but that never happened. I know that there has been interest from Turkey but would suspect that an acceptable offer would see him move to England, Germany or Spain in preference.}

Dunno who it was but i saw a brand new Porsche Cayenne Turbo yesterday with Dortmund plates it was at the nursery where Luis Suarez & Pepe Riena send their kids. Luis was there at the same time must have been showing someone round. Sorry can't say the name of the nursery as my daughter also goes there.

Hi Eds,
I've been told by someone reliable that,we're going to sign those players:
Luuk DE JONG.
Rasmus ELM.
Gaston RAMIREZ.
Younes BELHANDA.
Nathanael CLYNE.

Thx,cheers.....

If that's true... it would be awesome!!

What is the fuss about Belhanda never been overly impressed

Dude thats everyone we have known interest in (bar belhanda says the eds) sure your source is not the eds themselves? because we have came to this conclusion ages ago...JLFC

Congrats at being able to use the search function...

Why do so many people capitalize last names on this website?

2 questions ed's
1. Any player we are in pole position to sign at the moment
2. Loic remy ed's? I know abt the spurs saga in jan but seems realistic enough that he could join ?
-mihir {Ed002's Note - There have been no approaches to Marseille regarding Loic Remy from Liverpool but in January a third party (an agent) suggested to Marseille that there was interest from Spurs and some sort of exchange for Pavlyuchenko was proposed which was immediately dismissed. Spurs went in to discuss options for buying the player outright and Marseille said he was not for sale but they could return with a bid in the summer. Remy would perhaps be interested in a move to a leading side in the summer but Marseille have no interest in selling unless a very good offer is made - as they need the money.}

09 May 2012 15:41:26
Hi eds, just wondering nobody has really mentioned shaquiri off basel any chance eds?

Cheers
D690 {Ed002's Note - Shaqiri is joining Bayern Munich.}

09 May 2012 15:02:30
Do liverpool have any interest in Eljero Elia ? He seems to be out of favor at juventus and he could be quite cheap. {Ed002's Note - Elia looked certain to move to Valencia a year ago with Liverpool and others considering the player too expensive. He decided to stay in Hamburg and then took the option of a move to Juventus over Newcastle - but it has not really worked out and Juve were willing for him to make a move on loan in January with, I expect, an option to buy. Everton, Hertha Berlin and Newcastle had apparently shown interest and his representatives were looking to place him in a northern European side where he would get a regular start but nothing came of it. I am sure he will be available this summer but the only firm interest right now is from Benfica and Genk.}

Drenthe is better than Elia, Elia has played 4 times as a sub this season, he is no longer in the Dutch squad. He wants to leave Juventus a.s.a.p as so he can start rebuilding his career.

I'd rather Liverpool sign Drenthe who has done well this season and is the same age as Elia and Babel.

09 May 2012 15:00:05
Any possibility of a deal involing Elia and Aquilani Ed? could solve 2 problems there.
RNred {Ed002's Note - I really don't know. Elia and Suarez perhaps?}

Is this a joke? Elia for suarez?

Rubbish!

ChinUp {Ed002's Note - Nobody suggested Elia for Suarez. However on possibl option will see Juventus offer Elia plus cash for Suarez.}

Yeah right Ed002.......ur sarcasm toward us knows no bounds......how bout Elia for Torres......that would be a fair trade.....one overpriced has-been for another!!! Honestly Ed002... LMFAO!!!

6m euros plus Aquilani for Elia

09 may 2012 15:36:10
steven gerrard will be sold and we have scouts going to europa cup final to watch 5 players

Simply dumb comment to make i sense a disgruntled chelsea fan at play here

I wish these idiots would keep their brainless posts to themselves.

Markel Susaeta
Iker Muniain
Javi Martínez
Diego Godín
Álvaro Domínguez

You should be shot for this comment

09 May 2012 15:35:26
Would you say that Suarez's transfer value is north of 40million? {Ed002's Note - No.}

I'd guess between 25 and 30 million. Can't see it being worthwhile for any less.

Sir Masher

There's no way we'd sell unless an offer of over 30m came in, there would be no point whatsoever. The owners would definitely want at least a reasonable profit for one of our best players.

There's no way we'd sell unless an offer of over 30m came in, there would be no point whatsoever. The owners would definitely want at least a reasonable profit for one of our best players.

35million and not a penny less

If lavezzi or tevez is worth more than 40 mil then so is suarez. he is as good as those two {Ed002's Note - The price being looked at for Lavezzi is less than 30M.}

Ed, other than Inter which other teams are seriously interested in Lavezzi? {Ed002's Note - There is interest in Lavezzi from several clubs including Manchester City, Chelsea, Juventus, Zenit, PSG and particularly Inter and AC Milan. I think it would take a very high offer - more than 30M euros, some trading or a third-party ownership deal bid to get Napoli to sell the player who is unwilling to extend his existing contract which runs to 2015. Inter have offered 15M euro plus Marco Faraoni, Goran Pandev and Joel Obi but that offer is not acceptable to Napoli.}

Ok Thanks Ed

Luis Suarez deserves to play at a top club, as simple as that. He has a winning mentality, and a club like Real Madrid or Barcelona would be lucky to have him. YNWA Suarez

Im glad your not wanting our club to become great again.

Yep only two clubs in the world.

What a joke

Liverpool to sign Gaston Ramirez from Bologna, £15million & Luuk de Jong from FC Twente for £10.5million. Only others to come in will be free transfers like Bellamy last Summer.

That would be good if it happens

TRIBAL FOOTBALL:
Liverpool are eyeing unsettled AS Roma striker Bojan Krkic.

Krkic is on a two-year loan at Roma from Barcelona, but could see the deal cut short after a disappointing first season in Italy.

Corriere dello Sport says Liverpool and Schalke are in contact with Roma chief Walter Sabatini about the player's situation.

And Krkic's agent was in Rome yesterday to meet with Sabatini and discuss his future beyond the end of this season.

eds/macca do u see any possibility? {Ed002's Note - Bojan joined Roma last summer in an unusual deal worth 12m. If Roma pay another 28m in June, they will own him outright, but if they leave it until June 2013 then Barcelona will buy him back for 13m. However, I understand that Barcelona are not interested in taking Bojan back so are open to negotiating the sale of his remaining rights to Roma for less than the contracted amount. However, Roma are not impressed with Bojan following a series of poor performances meaning that neither club want him. Bojan would cost in excess of 40M if his full value was paid. He will probably complete the move to Roma for some sort of negotiated deal, perhaps including a couple of younger players. The only viable alternative would be for a club, perhaps Liverpool, to negotiate with Baercelona to take the player which would probably mean paying both parties. It seems most unlikely to me that Liverpool would want to be taking on a player who has been under-performing for even half of the contractual valuation.}

I have seen enough of bojan over the last few years the italian league doesn't suit him its to slow and bojan is all about pace i think he could be a real force in the premier league similar to henry even given the opportunity BIG BREN

Ah yes, Tribalfootball. That well known and reliable source.

Eds, I would love to see Christian Streich become new LFC manager. You maybe don't know him but he was a youth coach until he became SC Freiburg manager in January this year. Freiburg was at the bottom of the table, everyone thought they have no chance, they will go down!
But then came Streich and formed them into a real unit and a good team. They finished 12th, 10 points above the relegation zone!
Recently he also was in the german show "Sportstudio" and spoke about his success.
His priorities are solidarity, teamspirit and respect for each other. I think that would fit into Liverpool's philosphy. He's such a great person and character!
He was answered how he managed it to turn the ship around, and he answered: I have turned around nothing, We have 289 workers at this club and they ALL are responsible for our success!

I really think Liverpool should consider this guy!
What do you think of him Eds? Do you even know him? {Ed002's Note - I know nothing of Christian Streich aside from his recent promotion to manager of Freiburg.}

And the fact he appeared on the mega succesful Sportstudio show .
I hope that helps.

ed's, is there any interest from liverpool in Lucas Biglia? rumour going round that he's available for as little as 8mill!
cheers
john {Ed002's Note - Real Madrid and Arsenal have enquired after the player but no approach has been made to Anderlecht yet. Anderlecht rejected a recent approach from Parma but I suspect he could well move this summer. He has expressed an interest in playing in Spain.}

Lucas Biglia is a poor man's Lucas Leiva. I do not mean this as an insult. Anderlecht is the other team I root for and I can tell you in all honesty that no-one on their roster is capable of solving our short term problems. Also, if I were to pick someone from Anderlecht it wouldn't be Biglia, nor Matias Suarez but rather Kouyaté. Mark my words, this guy will be a force in years to come.

hey Eds 1.do you expect the following players to leave : Doni,Jones,Aurelio, spearing,J.cole,Auqilani, Maxi,Kuyt,johnson(probable)
2. I know you cant possibly say who we will buy but are these the players most scouted by us
Luuk de Jong,gaston ramirez,matt philips,M.isla,Elm,Belhanda,susaeta
any others I missed ?
I think if we can get de Jong and 2-3 of the remaining players it would be a good summer.Is it realistic ? {Ed002's Note - All of these have been discussed as possible leavers and players who the club is interested in. Please put spaces after commas in teh future else the posts could end up deleted for formatting reasons.}

From what Im hearing (and seeing to be fair), Stevie G cannot be relied on every week to fill the attacking midfield roll due to recurring injuries, so he is being dropped back into a more defensive position alongside Lucas next season.

This will allow a regular understanding to develop between our front 2/3

Gaston Ramirez will be the major summer signing. LFC realise that the top teams play with a tricky (or small!) creative midfielder setting the tempo for attacks.

Man City: David Silva (& Nasri)
Spurs: Luka Modric
Chelsea: Juan Mata
Man Utd: Paul Scholes
Newcastle: Johan Cabaye
Arsenal: (formerly Fabregas & Nasri)

As a fellow Uraguayan, Ramirez can form a fantastic understanding with Suarez and his strike partner, be that Andy Carroll or maybe Luuk de Jong.

Dont expect any other big money signings, as Kenny will keep faith with last seasons signings where possible, and maybe promote a couple of the youngsters (Sterling and Robinson).

Defensively we have been pretty sound this year. With Andy Carroll showing the same form as he is now all season next time, we dont need much in attack either. We just need Lucas fit and to find someone other than Stevie G to be able to operate on the same wavelength as Suarez. Thats Ramirez.

Red G

Ramirez is 6 foot.

6 1 actually but that's always a bonus

Hi Ed(s) and Macca,

Would like to enquire about the likely statuses of these players and our interest in them or whatnot. And whose are looking most likely to sign for us(the main top targets).

St:D.Teixeira, Luc Castaignos, Abel Hernandez
Wg/Att:S.Jovetic, Andre Schurrle, A. Griezmann, Coutinho, L. Holtby
Mf:Lars Bender, James McCarthy, Pajtim Kasami

And are there any more top targets beside these and G. Ramirez, R. Elm, LdJ et al?

Thanks for the info lads! {Ed002's Note - I will leave this one for Macca to answer for you.}

09 May 2012 14:13:51
do we have an interest in Hamit Altintop?
{Ed002's Note - Trabzonspor and Galatasaray have a declared interest in Hamit Altintop who will be leaving Real Madrid this summer. There is nothing confirmed regarding Liverpool's interest although it was suggested in the press a while back that they could be interested. He would be cheap but at 29 not a long-term solution.}

09 May 2012 14:07:57
Eds, you've said before that if an acceptable offer came in that Liverpool would consider selling Suarez, would this figure have to be 35 million plus? Just wondering after juventus came out saying Suarez was one of their targets...
Cheers {Ed002's Note - The actual figure is irrelevant but the club will no doubt have a number in mind. The interest from Palermo, Roma, PSG and Juventus is not new.}

09 May 2012 13:59:31
Awhile ago Liverpool were being linked with dusan tadic,(spelling). Is there any news, or will he move elsewhere. Is he still being looked at? {Ed002's Note - Schalke have already a replacement for Farfan in hand by signing Chinedu Obasi on loan and were looking to Groningen's Dusan Tadic for next season, although that situation has changed with Farfan signing a new deal so interest from Schalke may have waned. Interest in Tadic is also being shown by Roma, who had a bid turned down in January, Hamburg and Borussia Monchengladbach. However, Twente looks to me to be is most likely destination.}

Shame we havnt tried for him,excellent player

Spot on Ed002, he has agreed the move to Twente.

09 May 2012 13:52:20
Hi eds

Just wondering if you've heard anything about a clause to sell Kuyt for £1m? Maybe rubbish

Thanks

Mac {Ed002's Note - My understanding is that if he moves abroad then Kuyt will leave for a nominal fee of £1M plus a fixed agent fee.}

Million seems way short Ed. I'm not saying he's worth millions as he isn't, but something inthe region of 3-4 million would seem more appropriate.

Ed do you know why the fee is so little?

Jonesred {Ed002's Note - As I said there is a clause in his contract - according to his agent - that can see him leave for that amount. What I don't know is the provisions that would need to be invoked. I think Hamburg will go to perhaps 3M euros.}

From what ive heard...the clause is only a 1 million to clubs out of england so that he doesnt move to another premier league club

09 May 2012 13:42:43
Amazing what people can read into a statement from a guy who speaks poor english, about the team winning and doing their farewell lap to thank the fans for the last home game of the season. Some people really need to look in the mirror sometimes.

In saying that - if Eds think there is a chance he could be sold he may well be.....but I don't think luis wants to leave....and to come to that conclusion based on the twitter comment is beyond ridiculous.

Peace
MD4

Thats what i said but they put it on the banter pages. we need to step back and not jump to conclusions. not saying he won't be sold. but let this play out

09 May 2012 13:31:42
if reina left in the summer it wouldnt be too bad, i love pepe hes a great character, but his performances have been below par this season to say the least, he would fetch a sizeable sum for a goalkeeper and could be replaced.

LFC-IRE

Pepe is one of liverpools most creative players, he can start a counter attack like no other goalie one of the best on his day

09 May 2012 13:17:27
Any one for Sebastian Giovinco...
A good young winger...
Former Juventus Lad...

Would be a great signing.

Talented player, unlikely to come to England.

More of a Central Attacking midfielder in the mould of David Silva or Nasri.

09 May 2012 13:15:56
hey eds, is there any possible interest in Bert Van Maarwijk? Ive heard he is leaving the Dutch national team after the Euros. He is quoted as saying he is interested in England and Spain for clubs to manage?

{Ed002's Note - I really don't know.}

09 May 2012 12:59:49
Juventus to offer out of favour Dutch winger Eljero Elia plus cash for Luis Suarez.

Thats sounds about right, we usually swap are good players for lower parr ones.

Won't happen.They will not be able to offer enough cash.

1 cast off
A little bit of money.
In return one world class player.

I would shout AQUILANI down the phone and cut them off.

Elia is utter crap. A player in the region of Babel and I thought Babel was utter pants too.

Elia played four times this season for Juventus, mostly from the bench. So Juventus have completely ruined the value of Elia, he's worth 4 Million at best now.

09 May 2012 12:54:22
{Ed022's note - Just wanted to say there's a brand new feature over on www.player-profiles.co.uk (the site on player profiles yes), which enable you to sign up to the site and have access to an exclusive 'members area' as well as receiving e-mail updates when a profile is being done/when it has been completed. It's all free, and enables you to use your sign off name etc. Cheers all!}

09 May 2012 12:51:57
hello Eds,

which club is likely to sign elm from az? is it liverpool still or have other clubs taken an even further interest?

kopitee {Ed002's Note - Juventus, Spurs, Manchester United, Lazio, Roma and Liverpool have shown interest in Rasmus Elm but there has been no bid, no discussions about price and certainly no agreement over a move - regardless of what people have said on Twitter.}

09 May 2012 12:33:22
I hope saurez doesn't leave he's class.

With him staying on the pitch later than other players , could be him just showing his appreciation for the support through the race incident.

LAVERS

He has tweeted that last night was a great way to say goodbye to the fans!

#gutted

Boxer

He didn't stay on later than the others. I just watched it again.
Your reading too much into it matey

I don't want to see him go, he's a special talent and we'd be foolish to sell him out of a choice made by the club.

If Suarez wants to leave, then that's a different matter, i'd try and change his mind, but even if i (as the manager in this little make belief scenario i'm having here) failed, then i'd tell him i'd only agree if a big offer came in.

I'd want at least the 40 million as i think he is worth that, especially if it were PSG who were the bidding party. (Who paid about 33million for Javier Pastore) and also attempted to unsettle our player via the media etc.

I'd want that much just out of spite that i had to sell him, to be honest i'm becoming highly unethical just thinking of the forced scenario Liverpool may have to go through with Suarez. :(

Especially as Carroll has seemed to shake off the hoo'doo that has plagued him this and the tail end of last season.

Suarez Tweeted "Very happy for yesterday's victory and being able to say goodbye to our supporters this way. THANKS TO ALL !!"

He says 'our supporters' i.e. it was a good way to end the season and for the team to say good bye to the supporters untill next season.

RedChris

Nah your all reading into it his english isnt that good so he uses auto translate so it just hasn't translated over right

09 May 2012 12:27:37
Eds any chance of signing Julian Draxler of Schalke ? {Ed002's Note - No chance.}

09 May 2012 12:14:32
Ed 002 do you know if Julien Laurens who writes for La parisen newspaper in France is a reliable journalist? He seems to think Liverpool are in the driving seat for Belhanda at the minute

Hope all is well
Amz {Ed002's Note - I know he is a London-based freelance who will certainly not be creating rumours. He will report what he hears, but it does not mean it is correct. For me, Liverpool in the "driving seat"? Probably not.}

This journalist is not into making stuff up. So if he's hearing Liverpool are trying to make something happen at least it shows our intent in the transfer market, it's better than nothing.

This is funny, a respected journo v Ed...lol {Ed002's Note - So who would you believe, the French kid who has announced that M'Vila has already signed for Arsenal or me?}

Lol theres no doubt Ed has a better track record than the majority of journalists.

09 May 2012 12:11:12
I hear a different rumour eveyr day or two on who's going to be our manager next season, i was just wondering if you know the truth in any or even if you have a preferred selection:

1) Kenny to be given another 12 months to get Liverpool into top 4.

2) Rafa to come back with Sami Hyypia as his number 2.

3) Kenny to take a back seat role and Carragher to be the manager (abit like Kenny did when he became the manager)

4) Steve clarke and Kevin Keen to step up as manager and number 2 respectively.

5) Rafa to come back as director of football.

Then theres Frank de Boer, AVB, the valencia manager....

Is there any truth in any of these? {Ed002's Note - There is no truth in Frank de Boer or AVB rumours.}

Rafa to come back would be brilliant , however if he was coming back Maxi would be staying.

I'm all for Rafa to come back because he is the only available option we have. Sami as no.2 is interesting. For Cara to be manager is abit too soon. Perhaps in the reserves he will be groomed to be one for the future. Other than Rafa, I doubt the others like AVB, de Boer, Capello would be interested to come here. The owners aren't keen to spend like City or offer high wages to the players. So that is another problem of attracting top class players to this club. A further stumbling block to attracting them is that we are not in the champions league. We need to improve on our league standing next season but with the players we have this is going to be a tall order. finally but not the least we dont have a manager who can bring out the best out of players. Kenny was great during the 80's but not anymore. i hope the owners get their priorities right, otherwise it would be another 20years!!

1's the most likely out of those. Along with a completely new manager, but not de Boer or AVB. Marcelo Bielsa would be good, but I don't see it happening.

Don't see 3 or 4 happening. Carra's not ready for the big role (is he even qualified?) and I don't think Clarke is either.

2 is maybe, but I wonder would everyone in the dressing room be happy to see Rafa back.

5... not sure. Our DoF is there to negotiate the details, fees, wages etc, after the manager tells him who he wants. Now Rafa might be good at that, he had little tolerance for Parry's dithering on certain players and overpaying on others. Certainly don't think his first offer for Carroll would've been 30m. But at the same time he paid an awful lot for Jonno just to stop City or Chelsea from gazumping him on it, and I'm still not sure he was worth it.

Hyypia is staying Bayer Leverkusen manager.

Benitez is a coach.

Interestingly before Rafa was sacked there was an agreement with Newcastle for Caroll and let me tell you it was alot less than 35 mill.sbs3em

09 May 2012 11:56:10
edds do you think torres will leave chelsea an go back to spain he didnt look happy last night an i think he was abit out of order at the end of the game last night when he walk stright of an never shook hands with any of the liverpool players do you think he regreting leaving us edd {Ed002's Note - I think if an acceptable offer arrived Chelsea would certainly let him leave if he wanted to. I am not so sure that offer would be from Spain but it could be - or perhaps Italy.}

He probably wasn't happy with the 40,000 Liverpudlians screaming judas among other things. ;)

Yeah I felt that was a little uncalled for I mean yes he left the club but as you can see he has struggled with his emotions ever since which is why I believe he hasn't be in any sort of solid form until recently. All said and done I still think hes a great player and still wish him the best.

And psg can have him and leave suarez alone whose psg anyway big club yeah right.

I am a South African fan and i happened to meet Torres(yes i have a pic to prove it) when he was here during the World Cup and by the things he said i picked up that he wasnt going to be a Liverpool player much longer . In contrast Xabi Alonso was thrilled to hear Liverpool fans shouting his name. I would rather have Xabi back any day (i know it aint gonna happen)

09 May 2012 11:55:21
Hi Edd's you said earlier that maxi even said bye on his twitter account.... I have just noticed Suarez has said on his twitter "it was nice to say good bye to fan tonight" I am reading to much in to this? Do you think he will stay? {Ed002's Note - I did not say anything about a Twitter account of course, but perhaps one of the other Eds plays with Twitter. I would advise you not to believe everything you read on Twitter. As to whether or not Suarez will leave, my opinion remains the same.}

No way will Suarez leave.( Although about 40 mill might be interesting.)

Good bye cuz its the last home match of the season

09 May 2012 11:51:33
Luis Suarez

Very Happy for yesterdays victory and being able to say goodbye to our supporters this way.THANKS TO YOU ALL !!!YNWA

Can we take anything from this ?

DAVY

Yes, we can take its the last game at anfield

I'm hoping it's just a poor translation, as forgetting his saga earlier, would love if he stayed next season!

Keith

He means coz its are last home game idoit

Yeah, he means we are closing this season - if that is him. I really hope we keep him.

Drigan

He won't be playing at Anfield again this season so he was saying goodbye.

He wrote it in his native tongue and it was translated, mistakes get made.

When we shutdown at work, I say goodbye to my colleagues.

Don't read too much into it. You can tell Luis loves the club and (the majority) love him.

Personally I believe 100% that he'll be in an LFC shirt next season.

Tristan

Im hoping its KK and he just loged into the wrong twitter account!

I think if he had said "goodbye to my supporters" it would be different, however as he said "our supporters" it wont mean anything. Unless they're all leaving!
IOM Red

Im hoping its spearing

Ironic, the guy who calls someone an idiot, spells it wrong...

09 May 2012 11:50:59
That is Suarez sorted then. Very Happy for yesterdays victory and being able to say goodbye to our supporters this way.THANKS TO YOU ALL !!!YNWA

So where is he going then Ed02 ? I blame you for this. Ha.

Shush lad!

He means because it's are last home game person

Doesn't necessarily mean he's leaving imo. His english is dreadful and it's the last home game of the season. He might just be saying bye till next season.

He's not going anywhere!

He means goodbye i'm going to the beach for a few weeks

09 May 2012 11:45:22
Top targets (Without sales):
Luuk De Jong
Gaston Ramirez
Nathaniel Clyne

We are also heavily interested in:
Younes Belhanda
Matt Phillips
Adam Johnson
James Milner
Micah Richards.
Obviously I'm not suggesting we will buy all these players.

09 May 2012 11:39:43
Suarez put this on twitter! @luis16suarez: Very happy for yesterday's victory and being able to say goodbye to our supporters this way. THANKS TO ALL !!... http://t.co/jbi13UYx

anything you can tell us Ed's

I think what he meant was that its a very good way to say goodbye to the fans in the last home game. goodbye because its the last home game for the season, meaning Liverpool has sign off with a good win at home.

Finesse-Seychelles

He is saying goodbye since it's the last home game of the season. This does not mean he is leaving.

I think thats what he is say ing the season has ended for a nother year thats what ithink he is saying and why he is waving

He was just saying goodbye, god give him a break. It seems people are just trying to overthink things!

09 May 2012 11:33:20
Luis Suarez - Very happy for yesterday's victory and being able to say goodbye to our supporters this way. THANKS TO ALL !! YNWA

Daniel Rogers.

09 May 2012 11:20:17
Hi Eds.... I would first like to say that you have all done great work. I for one really appreciate it! I was just wondering what the story was with MATT PHILLIPHS? Please answer. Thank allot eds {Ed002's Note - I don't know that there was a "story" at all. I understand from Ed001 that Liverpool have indeed been looking at Matt Phillips of Blackpool and I understand from the Reading manager that they have an interest in him as well.}

09 May 2012 11:19:34
"Very happy for yesterday's victory and being able to say goodbye to our supporters this way. THANKS TO ALL !! YNWA"

On Suarez's FB page... Sounds fairly ominous to me!

DP

Why? are the whole team leaving?

He is saying goodbuy to the fans because the season has ended for another yer basicly i think it means see ya next season

He is saying goodbuy to the fans because the season has ended for another yer basicly i think it means see ya next season

09 May 2012 11:16:28
Charlie Adam will not be leaving. He is great back up in midfield.

You are joking right ? when u said "great back up" .

The reason he is not leaving is because there are no offers for him. Blackpool might want him back but not for 8mn.

Adam's the worst type of footballer there is. An average one who thinks he's good. He'll come up with just enough nice passes to perpetuate the myth that he's a Scottish Alonso in his own mind and won't play to his limitations as a result and will keep wasting posession with Hollywood passes that aren't on, pushing too far forward and leaving gaps in the middle.

Lucas, Gerrard, Shelvey and Henderson should all be ahead of him, and if we buy another midfielder (someone who can put their foot in to back up Lucas), then he wouldn't even be needed as backup.

09 May 2012 11:13:48
So Eds,Suarez has announced 'it was good to say goodbye to the fans in this way' maybe he is offski afterall...

Chris1977YNWA

No ..."to our fans". It was their last game at Anfield this season.

09 May 2012 11:12:09
people say we should buy vorm of swansea city, yet he is 27, if we want a replacement for pepe we want him to be younger and more agile. IMO pepe needs replacing a younger reina wouldn't have let either of ramires' goals in a few years ago

Keepers dont get to there best untill after 30 its a fact bob paisleys skids

Age has nothing to do with letting in goals like that. He just made a mistake.

Age doesn't matter keepers. There like Duracell bunnies. They keep going and going and going. Whereas outfield players are more like durex they fill up with as much glory as they can for as long as there legs will carry them then they end up in the bin.

Eric the red

So we should sell Reina because he's had a dip in form? He has been (and still is) one of the top 3 keepers in the country. Until this season he was arguably the best in the league and one of the best in Europe - just look at his clean sheets record. I think we should remember that the team in front of him have not been great. So, lets not knee jerk our way into destroying the backbone of the team.

Reina doesnt need sold but if he is then pehaps sommer of basil ?

09 May 2012 11:08:42
Maxi will leave and i gather this from his waving as he was substituted last night, it's a shame really

It is a shame a quality player was not played enough!

Ant really be sentimental about this, Maxi has done well this season and prob deserved more game time but there are younger better players that will be more influential and we need to look forward.

09 May 2012 11:05:17
Few rumours going around that we put a offer in for bojan from Roma, any truth to this eds or just made up? {Ed002's Note - I would not believe everything you hear on Twitter. Bojan is not Roma's to sell, although he will be when they complete their purchase from Barcelona.}

You sure about that Ed? I thought they had bought him outright, but Barca had a buyback clause. So we can buy him if they don't activate the clause or we match the clause value? {Ed002's Note - I am sure. Bojan joined last summer in an unusual deal worth 12m. If Roma pay another 28m in June, they will own him outright, but if they leave it until June 2013 then Barcelona will buy him back for 13m. However, I understand that Barcelona are not interested in taking Bojan back so are open to negotiating the sale of his remaining rights to Roma for less than the contracted amount. However, Roma are not impressed with Bojan following a series of poor performances.}

Just for the eds to answer about Bojan I watched Roma vs Chievo on ESPN and the commentators felt that Roma wouldn't be signing him for the 35 million that the clause apparently is because his performances have been so poor {Ed002's Note - I have explained the situation above.}

Bojan Krkic (Perez)

Was terrible at Barcelona, he played over 160 games scoring only 41 goals. Now for one of the most attacking teams in the World, that record is considerably bad, and is only just better than David N'Gog's statistics at Liverpool.

Bojan Krkic at Barcelona
163 games, 41 goals.

David N'Gog at Liverpool
94 games, 19 goals.

Bojan Krkic at Roma
36 games, 6 goals.

Bojan = over rated, over paid and over played.

Just to add to previous post,

Bojan Krkic career total.
221 games 57 goals

That's pretty poor.

Luuk De Jong would be a much better choice and cheaper, making Luuk De Jong much more viable to Liverpool, also his physicality is much more suited to English/British style football.

I'd be mad as hll, if Liverpool went for Bojan over De Jong,

09 May 2012 10:58:01
Can some please point me in the direction of an official statement that Maxi is leaving, think I must have missed it - I thought there was a good chance but didn't realise that it was 100% confirmed?

YNWA jns

He has said bye to the fans, cant get more official, not been announced by the club but its from the horses mouth so hes defo off.

He said himself on Twitter

09 May 2012 10:53:51
Ed, here's an interesting one: Aaron Lennon? I mean he's dropped right out of Spurs' pecking order this season and I think he's class. And with Spurs 'linked' with all these top wingers maybe there'd be a chance we could get him? Cheers {Ed002's Note - I don't know of interest from Liverpool - if there is no interest there is no chance.}

He is not class he has no end delivery and is a bit of a t**t. About the same level as Downing who has an end product but can't get past people.

Long Live the King

Never going to happen, he was very critical of liverpool as a club and the people. besides which why would we want their rejects

09 May 2012 10:52:07
DO you think that if a bid in the region of 15-20m would come in for Carroll that we'd accept? {Ed002's Note - I really don't know.}

The Penny seems to have finally dropped with Carroll, He is also looking lean and in good health, probably all the running hes been doing trying to find a cross. I dont think they will sell this summer, might gamble on him carrying form into next year after paying 35 mill for him.

No way would we take a loss on him the way he is playing now.

Accept a 15-20 million loss on a player just when he's starting to produce his best form? Really?

09 May 2012 10:43:07
Ed what happend with Sam Magri? I knew we had him for a trial and I thought we had signed him, but theres talk now that WBA are going in for him?
Also is there any truth in the Gravenberch talk? Have to be honest this makes sence, I have to be honest I think De jong looks good but having broken into the National squad is he going to come without some sort of promise of first team football?
RNred {Ed002's Note - Gravenberch has been interesting a number of clubs including Manchester United but he would be a long way off getting in to an EPL first team. There are reports of Liverpool interest but I know nothing of it. I thought that a deal had been agreed over Magri but can find nothing to confirm it. Try Ed001 is you see him lurking about.}

hi ed do we show any interest in higuian (spelling) need a good goalscorer and he can do it and lift the squad? {Ed002's Note - Higuain was offered to Chelsea but with a proviso regarding Cavani that may not be acceptable. The price discussed was also rather high. I expect Juventus to make a bid for the player and PSG to follow up their interest. Chelsea remain interested at a lower price.}

Why is it pogba is available on a free? {Ed002's Note - He will be available for "free" when out of contract.}

He's trouble and Fergie's sick of dealing with him, so he's not offering them the huge wages his agent is demanding.

I dont see why were so interested in strikers we have got carroll in fantastic form hes got his confidence back and saurez is saurez...amazing! We need two new wingers...afellay would be perfect...can score goals and is a very pacey player along with juventus player Elia he decided his future and said it wont be a juventus...so theres two young dutch players would be perfect for our wings and a centre midfielder...weve lucas who was onform until his injury and weve still a few years in gerrard but a young player would be crucial..javi martinez or sao paulos lucas...we need to spend money and big money if we want champions league football and top four finishing like 2005 etc.

You need more than two strikers if we are playing in Europe next year and challenging for top 4 finish. Just look at man u, man city, tottenham and Chelsea they have 4 or more strikers.

We didn't make the top four in 2005

Why do we need more forwards?...Have you had a look at our 'goals for' section in the Premier League table?

Affellay and Elia wouldn't solve our problems. Elia is fast and that's about all he has in his locker. Affellay is talent but prone to getting regularly injured.

We'd be far wiser looking elsewhere.

Suarez isn't a clinical finisher

You are right about Carrol and Suarez, but we do need a natural finisher. Suarez may be one of the best footballers in the world, but he will not score more than 25 goals in a season. Carrol is a great target man, but we do need a scorer to get 30+ a season someone like de jong. Another striker will also be useful incase of injury.

Two wingers would be most important as this is where we lack most. Afellay would be a dream signing but I don't think Elia is what we need. Would much prefer Tadic or Narsingh as they more direct. I also think we need a new left back, Enrique is good but he waste a lot of time on the ball and never really has the confidence to attack like he did at Newcastle. The extra striker we will hopefully sign is De Jong, a class act in the making.

Need more tham two strikers generally to make a good squad. Also to get the best out of suarez's creativity you need a clinical finisher which would also help Carrol as well. Both the strikers we have are not really out & out strikers. We sold a 25 Goal a season striker (in all comps) and we still need to replace them goals. Suarez will get a fair few but he will create more than he scores, same with andy Carroll.

No he isnt and nor is carroll kuyt could be leaving an experienced striker ie berbatov and de john would be good

Hi eds/Macca....I keep hearing on here about Reina leaving....is this true, because it hasn't been reported anywhere in the news, and his interviews haven't showed he is unhappy at Liverpool?
Thanks
Kabir {Ed002's Note - I don't know that Liverpool would want to sell so it would be up to the player to request a move.}

If it hasn't been reported, where are you hearing it then?

Question to any of the eds really. Not so long ago most of the eds seemed to think carroll would go if the right offer came in. Since then he has found his form and is really settling in the team. I have always been behind him and really hope he stays I think with proper service he can be a force. Anyways my question is do you still believe he will be sold or do you think the club is leaning away from it and that it would take a larger offer for it to happen?

Thanks Seano {Ed002's Note - I suspect that if the right offer came and Carroll was open to a move then he would go. His value would not have gone up in the past few weeks.}

If Carroll was playing like he is now 3 weeks after he arrived, him moving wouldn't even be on the agenda. He's a human being and its taken him time to settle in. Just as he's getting there we'll probably sell him. everybody wants everything 'today'! We must hold on to him and let him rip next season - if we still want to sell him then at least his value would have gone up.

Does anybody remember drogba in his first season brutal carroll will be unstoppable next season

Fear not, Liverpool have no intention of selling Andy Carroll.

Red Owl

May I ask why Ed 002 you don't think Carroll's value would have increased?
Do you think a players value stays the same indefinitely regardless of performance? {Ed002's Note - You have to be some sort of halfwit to ask this question and suggest that I think "a players value stays the same indefinitely regardless of performance". All I said was that his value would not have gone up in the past few weeks.}

hi eds all reds very good performance last night, pressure off i know. sad to see maxi waving goodbye , suarez waving too, reading to much into that? or was it just that he was holding his daughters hand? really interested to see who we make a move for. i would love to see deigo come in alongside lucas , or maybe go the opposite way and sign someone more defensive than lucas? hendo , when played in his true posistion, looked very good, and as ive said all along , andy c awsesome! godbless 96 all reds steviep62

All the players were waving does that mean they are all leaving??

I was at the game last night and stayed for the lap of honour. Suarez was waving, simply because he was either carrying his daughter or holding her hand as she was walking. He applauded the fans when she was with her mother. Luis has said he'd like to extend his contract at the end of the season and has never expressed any desire to leave Liverpool. In fact, he praised Kenny and the fans for standing by him over the Evra issue and wants to repay the faith. The only way he will leave is if he is forced out by the Liverpool hierarchy or an unbelievable offer that is simply too good to refuse is put in for him. But the point of the matter is he is very happy at Liverpool and has no desire to leave at this moment in time.

ed's do you think pepe reina will be sold this season. {Ed002's Note - I imagine it will be his decision - I cannot see the club wanting him to move on.}

The problem these days is people want quick money ,quick success and everything good as fast as downloading something from the Internet.People talk about the money spent by kenny (which is perhaps 35-40m actually) and it wasn't exactly him who spent it and that is why Henry fired Commoli not Kenny.Its not kenny's fault if the players hit the post but i also agree that he made some mistakes but come on everyone does! city didn't qualify for champs league after spending millions more than us but now?Had they been in the same place if the had fired Mancini?? Kenny should stay and has to be given another season no matter what our position is this season.
As for transfers my wish list is
INS :
Aqualani, keita, a.johnson, Munaian, Soldado (marquee)
Outs:
adam, aurelio, kuyt, spearing,henderson (loan), maxi (shoul've stayed)
long live the king...YNWA
REDistani.

Clearly need to borrow a few brain cells

Another KD supporter. Sorry mate LFC is greater than KD. So you are saying that Carroll, henderson, Downing, Adam were bought by Comolli and not KD ? BTW FYI since you are talking about ManC they did change their managers for two successive seasons before Mancini.

I share same opinion as your's ..people want to win league at the click of a button...Rome wasn't built in a day ..but sadly, people have taken it literally 1 day

I think Kenny chose the players he wanted, but had nothing to do with their prices - the negotiating (or lack of) was down to Comolli.

Kieran

I really wonder where some peoples heads are. Aqualani has made it clear he does not want to play for us,for goodness sake forget about him and Maxi was always going to go at the end of this season.
Loan Henderson out? Crazy, he is just coming good .Why give someone else the benefits.
I have mixed feelings re Kenny, a club legend but has not had a good season.People say the new players needed time to settle but players that joined other clubs settled in very quickly.
Our tactics have been our main problem and they are dictated by the Manager/Coach.

To think kenny said last night liverpool fans are well educated in football try telling that to the first 2 guy,s who replied any 1 with half a brain can see the quality we have had in some of our performances this year we have had the worst luck imaginable some of our performances were quality especially the arsenal 1 where we lost it in the last minute no patience any 1 these days

Rome wasn't built in a day but neither did it take 20 years to do so! We waited 20 years and the only thing we are seeing now is Kenny has broken club record by getting the worst home record since 1954. Commoli was made a scape goat for Kenny's choices.

So you think the city of Rome was built in less than 20yrs:).
On a serious point i have no idea what FSG are going to do as they appear pretty clueless about the game.
The clubs current infrastructure worries me more than the manager.

Hoilett Keita Elm DE Jong Ramirez all to sign

Only problem i've got with de jong is is he what we need right now? we need someone who can bang the goals week in week out, he isn't proved and is only young. i may be wrong but time will tell.

Big changes at the club in the summer - Money IS available for new signings, but the management team have been told they need to cut the current wage bill and personell before it will be made available.

On the goalkeeping front, both Jones and Doni will be released on a free, and they will be joined by Reina, who is set to return to Spain, with Malaga a likely destination.

Gulacsi will be the backup keeper, with either Krul (Newcastle), Federici (Reading) or Al Habsi (Wigan) being touted as Pepe's replacement.

At the back - Carragher will take up a player/coach role and will be used rarely, with Aurelio leaving (released) - No other changes.
Wilson will be used as cover (along with Agger) for left back and Kelly will challenge with Johnson (who is staying) for right back - Coates and Flanagan will also be fighting for regular football, with Coady also in contention.

Going, will be: Maxi (free/released); Kuyt (nominal fee); Aurelio (as noted above); Pacheco (nominal fee); Cole (£1m); Reina (as noted above - fee c£12m); Doni (as above); Jones (as above); Spearing (£5m - Stoke are interested as are Wigan); Bellemy (free).

Little as far as transfer funds in, but a good dent in the wage budget.

An approach will be made for Dempsey and an offer for Moses of Wigan, plus expect to see; Shelvey, Souso, Sterling, Coady, Flanagan and Eccleston being given more chances.

Once the above have been shipped out, transfer kitty will be in the region of £50m, with two big signings expected - one a 'poucher' type goalscorer, the other an additional attacking midfielder winger - Plenty of options for both.

Dont you have something else to do in your
Life?RedTurk

Sorry but why would we sell one of the best goal keepers in the world (granted he's not been in great form this season) for 12m. Considering Pepe would walk into pretty much any side in the world and can play for another 10+yrs?

Krul? LOL really, he is going to leave Newcastle to join Liverpool... 20 mil + maybe... Also, why go to Liverpool if he is also apparently linked with Spurs they may have CL football next season... then again Newcastle may also have CL football.

Utter junk, sounds like a fantasy shopping list to me... all BS

Utter junk...

You forgot to mention Suarez' 28.2m move to PSG.

Jay Spearing 5M lol

I swear you numptys don't actually watch the reserves or 18/19s coady is shocking much like spearing only at the club because he's scouse if were really really struggling he might make the bench but I can't see gerrard,Lucas,hendo,shelvey,Adam,spearingall being injured or suspended at once next season

09 May 2012 07:53:59
Remy Cabella 22 of Montepelliar & Yacin Brahimi 20 of Rennes... two jems of talent.. Any interests in theses players? worth a punt...options for the wing positions

Can see these two becoming two great players after whom top clubs would be running after with one or two seasons.. if we can't get Hazard or Bellhanda these are the players we need to go for...

Bosco {Ed002's Note - Gladbach remain interested in Brahimi, but that is it right now.}

I remember once gerard houllier sayin that we had 2 french gems in le tallec and pongoalle ha

Hello Ed002,
was Maxi saying goodbye to Anfield last night?
{Ed016's Note - Yep, he even said goodbye on twitter last night}

Same as dirk?

Miss you maxi :'(

Good luck to him where ever he goes, shame KK didnt give him the run he deserved this season

Pity as i like maxi and given a decent run he could certainly do a job for us

Still don't know why he was not played more this season, guess he didn't impress on training ground. Still scored some valuable goals and hope he is happy where ever he goes.

There is an important question that needs answering urgently and the answer will put things into proper perspective for all us fans and that is...

Ed, how much funds do you think/know will be available for transfers this summer, Do you think there is no budget but they are open to make transfers if the manager feels it's needed?

Daniel Hanwell {Ed016's Note - Not as much as last year. Depending if any more players get shifted and for how much. I think it is probably sitting at a healthy 25-30 mill. Obviously selling someone like Joe Cole gives us the transfer money and frees up a couple of million in wages. I'm just making an educated guess}

Will it raise to 35-40m after sales of players, eg joe cole and aqua?

It would be 25m+funds frm sale of players ryt??

If I've understoodcorrectly what some of the other eds say, there is no fixed transfer budget per se. Transfers will be conducted on a deal-by-deal basis.

Drigan

hay im just thinking is there anyhting going on with christian eriksen {Ed016's Note - I think he will stay in Holland for 2 more seasons, then probably Barca}

Im thinking one more season in Ajax as thats what he has said himself on several occasions( he has said maybe 2 tho) and then i hope he will go to a club that will get him playing time as that is hes goal when moving on( he has said that several times as well)

But gerrard was heard on the phone saying to carra we have got eriksen

09 May 2012 00:36:58
can you rate joao moutinho please? i heard that he's interested in moving to the premier league i think he's very suitable for us , if not are we into javi martinez? and what are the chances of getting him? why don't we go for gotze? one of the hottest prospects and we need players versatile like him and fits very well in our policy and style of playing {Ed016's Note - I think he would cost a lot of money}

Don't be soft lad Gotze's just signed a new contract at his boyhood club and champions of Germany.

09 May 2012 00:34:47
Really hope both kuyt and maxi stay....true would get then off the wage bill but truly believe they would make fantastic squad players.
Thanks {Ed016's Note - Kuyt will return to Feyenoord and Maxi will return to Argentina}

Kuyt has had his day, but Maxi would be good for a squad player. I expect he would rather have first team footy though.

Well done lads, great result tonight for LFC.
Though to be honest, Chelsea were pretty bad.
I understand this is the 32nd time we have played Chelsea in 8 years, that must be some kind of record.
Thought Shelvey had a great game, and AC and LS up front starting to show real promise
Sorry, Downing is just not the right player for us, I mean does "he ever" want to score a goal.
Still believe we need newer and better quality in the team, that will be the subject of further debate, no doubt
Read that many teams are looking at Luuk de Jong, so I hope LFC move swiftly to secure.

s

Hasn downing already scored ? twice i think {Ed016's Note - not in the league}

I wouldn't read toomuch into this game. Their performance had been pretty much like a yoyo. Anfield was once a place teams feared. it was a fortress. Now we are some 30 points and more from the top two. Even newcastle looks a distant from us. The players we bought are not performing as expected of them. Downing played as if he was playing in the top league for the first time. Henderson just could not fit into our system. Carroll is beginning to show his sharpness like his days in Newcastle which is encouraging. God knows why we bought Adam in the first place. Gerrard for some reason is no longer the player he used to be before his long absence from injuries. Kenny and Clarke was never going to work as a team judging from the team performance lately. I am horrified to hear rumours that we are interested in Bent. Are we never going to learn from the mistakes we made in the past when we bought injured players?

What about the manager? Results don't lie and one game suddenly doesn't make you the greatest team. Agree about Downing, but you forgot about Adams and a few others. Whether it's a work in progress, who knows? It's clear something has to change, and that change begins at the top. I'm sorry, but Dalglish can't cut it. Take off your rose tinted glasses and see the real picture... LFC aren't good enough.

I thought downing was excellent tonight against chelski. unlucky not to get a goal ,but certainly not worthy of criticism in a 4-1 drubbing.

Well even before the first goal went in last night Dalglish had his name sung by the Kop. The true fans want him to stay and can see he's building something for the long term.

Kieran

PS I've asked this time and again... who the f*ck is Adams?

Liverpool fans are funny, how you bang on about how good you were. The fact is you beat a skeleton Chelsea side who are only looking to the CL final.
Liverpools side is not good enough FACT.
As the post above say you probably need to get rid of Kenny as manager and as director of football etc. No one works well in the shadow of another look at Roy. Also you will need to get rid of a lot of your players even Stevie G. Your wage bill must be the 3 or 4th largest in the prem, maybe even higher! Bring down your wage bill then sign players who want to play for you rather than play for the money, that way you know you will be signing players who will give 110%.

Actually i believe it's 7 years

Fantastic performance tonight by Liverpool.
Henderson and Shelvey both had good games. The whole team played well. Great to see Raheem Sterling again. Just a shame it couldn't be done on Saturday
