Luis Suarez seen at Manc Airport terminal 3 earlier today-catching a flight to either to paris or amsterdam for connection to Montevideo presumably?

Any Ideas -escaping the UK for a while?

No mate, connection to Madrid. Just saw him having a cappucino with mourinho.

I wouldn't say he's flying anywhere, just because he is suspended doesn't mean he takes a holiday or time off, he still has to train at Melwood like the rest of the squad, especially now he's not playing, plus he's available again to play against spurs on the 6th of February so he himself will want to be fit and ready for that game.

Rocky

He has been given a week or so off to return home while he's banned to recharge his batteries and come back raring to go. Good decision by the club I think
Finisher

Holiday maybe

He's gone for a round of golf with Tevez!

hey eds amazing site, do you know what happened to the interest in Brek Shea ?
Thanks {Ed002's Note - Shea would never be good enough to me.}

Seen him play for Dallas a few times. Decent enough player but don't see him being the quality that we need.

Blackburns asking price for Hoilett is 8m.

Apparently we offered 5 but it was rejected.

YNWA 92 LFC

Hoilett would be a fantastic acquisition for the long term, linking him with Hendo later on seems a good idea but we need a proven crosser of the ball, Bellamy can't do it all on his own!

Just been checking him out on youtube he is absoulutely brilliant i would pay much more than 8m for him probz worth about 12m in this market what do u think eds will lfc get him and has there been any talks/bid etc hoilett-pace skill and would make caroll into a 50m striker sign him up kenny!!!

Give 8 so, would be a welcome addition! Young and great potential, will be worth twice that much in 2 years! Will add an extra dimension to our play

Liverpool are reportedly considering a surprise move for Huddersfield Town striker Jordan Rhodes in order to freshen up their misfiring front line. what do you think this kids worth ed?

Hope so, the lad destined for the prem; why
not us.
kidmillions

Rhodes makes some good food, but i think he is a man utd supporter

Caughtoffside no doubt, however kenny does have previous when it comes to finding lower league players

8-10m

Wayne Rooney is an Everton supporter - 'BLUE 'TIL I Die".
DM

Any player that has a big game (like Rhodes recently did) makes it on to this website as Liverpool interest. This is especially true of players that do well in games against Liverpool. As far as I can remember, none have ever come to Liverpool. With that being said, Berbatov scored 5 goals in a game against Blackburn last year so Liverpool must be interested in him.

Jordan rhodes has NOT just jad one great game he has been fantastic for huddersfield this season. Whilst I agree he is destined for the prem , my concearn would be his ability to do it now in the top flight ! Many strikers have found the step up to the prem too hard , we are in need of a goalscorer imediately, good prospect but wilson shelvey etc were all playimg full time with their previous clubs hence the slow down in their development, ynwa.

Hope terry mac gives us a better report about him than he did about andy

Prolific goalscorers are very rarely great footballers they tend to come to life only inside the box and get that half a yard in front of their man. So while the step up from lower divisions for a winger,midfielder, defender could be a big ask. This is not necessarily the case for a goalscorer in the Rhodes mould. That's why I think we should take a chance.
kidmillions

As I previously said on Rhodes, my friend is a season ticket holder at Huddersfield and said this lad is a class act. I agree from what I've seen.

Asking the ED's to put a price tag on a player will not gain a reply.

In MY OPINION I would think it would take somewhere in the region of 7-9M to prize him from Huddersfield. He cost them somewhere in the region of 2.5M alledgedly if my memory serves me right, which is a staggering amount for a L1 team.

An important thing to remember is that this lad is also scoring goals for Scotland.

Hope this helps,

RobbehLFC.

I work in correlation to Huddersfield Town & was speaking with one of the coaches yesterday. They said they have received no official bid for the player in question (Rhodes) however, they have had interest from 6 clubs, 2 of these from the premier league.

If he was to go to a premier league team, they would accept a bid of 7.25 million+.

I enquired to why '7.25' million as such a specific number, & he said it was something to do with a fee that goes towards the player as he has not personally handed in a transfer request.

If they were to sell him to a championship side, they would look for a price of 6 million+

As of yet I'm unsure as to if one of the premier league team's in question was Liverpool.

Hope this sheds some light on the situation, cheers.

Just a quick one EDs,do you know if we've looked at all at young french winger Henri Saivet?many thanks.

PM {Ed002's Note - I doubt it.}

There is meant to be an ex red about to become on the coaching role is what I've heard.
My favourites are..
Fowler
Hypia
Hamman.
Outsiders are..
Mcmanaman
Berger
Molby
Rush
babbel
To be honest it really could be any big name ex red but it does look like it will happen.

Him and Balotelli up front for me when I was Tottenham in FM08 destroyed completely. It may sound weird but in that game you found out about good players before anyone else.

GuvTOB

Id bet on steve nicol

forget all the players rumours.

The "hot one" is that a former manager will be in charge again come start of 2012 season.

Dalglish?

I think we already knew Kenny would be in charge next season.

Martin

Oh plz let it be hodgson ....NOT
Paul ynwa 77

Let me guess, Kenny Dalglish?

Stu.

Roy Evans comming back, great news

Y the hell wud we need a new manager?
we already hav the king. unless benitez comes back as a coach.
Houlliers not coming bak, so who do u think is gonna come?!

I'd like the boot room to return

Aslong as its not souness or evans or hodgson or anyone but dalglish i dont care :) and nobody else should!

5TIMES

In my Opinion, if it was Rafa I would be happy about that because if he gets to spend money he gets quality:Reina, Arbeloa, Agger, Skrtel, Aurelio, Mascherano, Alonso, Lucas, Aquilani, Torres. Now I know people are going to say but he signed Voronin, Degen ect.. but they were free transfers plus when he spent big he never failed.

And Im not sure if people know this or not but the season when we finished 2nd Rafa had lined up Silva, Mata and Villa all to come in the summer until the owners f&#ed it up (I think it was those 3) Im sure the ED's can also verify this.

Yeah your right kenny is a former manager

Yes i heard also think kk has had a good go but sadly way off the mark

When Rafa spent big he never failed yeah right what about Aquaman for starters?

Dalglish has improved the team but not good enough. Although im all with kenny if he decided to go rafa should come back but only if the KING left

Are ye being serious? Benitez? No doubt the same fans that wanted him out! Give KENNY a chance! Huge progress in a year. Look at the position were in this year compared to last, points and the quality of football. Apart from a few missed opportunities against weaker sides we'd be comfortably in the top 4! Fans like ye make me sick, get behind our club, players and manager and let's see where we are this time next year before making any rash decisions!
John h

Im in total agreement with John H. YNWA

Yesterday, after watching Rafa talk on Football Focus, on youtube, he seems to be very sharp still, and i tried to post this yesterday, but didn't get posted...i would love to see him come back, i think he's a quality manager, and just got unlucky with bad owners...hopefully will be back one day after the King wants to leave.....i wouldn't even mind them being joint managers....maybe Rafa looking after tactics, and Kenny looking after man management etc

Actually Aquilani was a great player, who never got a chance from Hodgson or Kenny (Even though he was our stand out player in pre-Season). The only bad signings he made was the Free transfers and some Very Cheap players (which was not his fault considering the lack of comitment from the owners. All I know is that Torres probably would be partnering Suarez up front and we would have signed players better then Carrol, Adam, Downing. (Over 60 million).

A previous poster mentioned having Kenny and Rafa as joint managers. That will never happen. Their egos are too big for that.

Rafa's Purple Goatie

Lads WTF? KK has done a very good job to get us back even within a whisker of top 4 considering where we were last season. Take a feckin breath will ya? This season was always about getting back into the CL, yes we've had a few set backs but we've been ridiculously unlucky as well with some of the results and decisions. But we've also been lucky in the fact that Chelsea and Arsenal are dropping silly points too. A couple of good results in the 2 cups against both sets of mancs and you will all be singing Kenny's praises again. Benitez, his fault or not, got us into the s**tter, Hodgson sank us even further and KK has had to try and drag us out of it. We have been without Gerrard, Lucas and now Suarez for big chunks of the season and we are still in the mix for CL. I'm sure that they will bring in one or two players in Jan if they feel they will add to the squad as a whole and not just the wage bill. Have some faith and dont panic

Robbie Keane, Voronin, Aquilani, Dossena and Milan Jovanovic all Rafa signings, Dalglish is the man at the moment to bring the club forward once we're back where we should be Rafa will take over again

John H is spot on. Some people think KK is a failure because we havent won the league by January! Get real! He's got rid of every poor player on our books who had been hanging on for years (Babel, El Zhar, Deggen, etc), brought in loads of young potential (and given some a chance), fixed our defence, got us to the semi's of the cup and to within a few points of a Champs league place. All in 12 months and the first 6 months of that was with Woy's poor team.

Lets get 5 good years out of KK, with Carra under his wing, and then let him enjoy retirement as the true LEGEND he is and pass the mantle over to Carra who would no doubt run the club with the same passion.

Open your eyes. He's doing a fantastic job.

Marshy

Yeah he's called dalglish!!

Rafa? RAFA?! Another era of dull, dire, dour, uniinspirational defensive football to watch?! NO; THANKS! MAY RAFA NEVER RETURN, AND I MEAN NEVER!

BooDaBooze

No rafa and no more zonal marking please

Yes alonso,masch,torres,garcia,lucas,skirtel,arbaloa,reinna terrible manager

To the poor deluded guy who posted "they were free transfers plus when he spent big he never failed."

Don't suppose you remember Rafa buying Keane, Aquilani, Dossena, Babel, Riera, Pennant.......need I go on?

Hoilett expected to hold talks with LFC sooner rather than later.

Blackburn wanting to sign another play maker before they let him go / accept his transfer request.

Unsure about a fee at the moment, but a few bids expected from LFC and THFC in the next few days.

Any more news, ill let you know

Snowbed

Say hello to Hoillet for me please Snowbed. Thanks

What a stupid name

Please ed's can I please get any info on soldado, ? ? As I think he would be the final piece of a title chasing side
{Ed002's Note - Certainly Liverpool have shown some interest in Soldado who is having a good season but his availability in January is by no means certain. Milan were also interested in the player but have perhaps been a little distracted by Tevez but PSG are beginning to see if Soldado could be attracted to Paris. At about 25M euro or more Soldado would not be cheap.}

"title chasing side" i hope you mean Carling Cup

Seems to me there is even less coming out of Liverpool in the way of rumours than their was in the summer.
Would I be right Eds in thinking there is just no sign of any signing? I'm starting to think maybe we won't do any business at all.

Chris in Tamworth {Ed002's Note - Chris we know at least some of the players there has been interest in as discussed. As to when anything will happen is anyone's guess.}

Chris, it's only 9th January, if it was 20 days time, I would be worrying, but not yet! Have faith.

Keith

Please don't get me wrong I'm not panicking and I'm still hopeful, also I'm sure the Eds are correct in the players who they are pretty sure we are linked with. I'm just starting to think that maybe some whisper about a definite January bid would have sneaked out and I'm wondering if we are going to wait until the summer to do anything.

Chris in Tamworth

Even less rumours than there were in summer...

possibly because we made a whole heap of transfers in the summer?

x

Yeah cos we only signed 6 players in the summer amongst all that quietness! How many do we need to sign before you consider it a busy transfer window??

alright lads, its the spear report coming at yeeeee. right i was on the phone to spearing a few hours ago. i cant reveal to much as jay would not be to pleased, however here it goes and what he told me.

hoilett - he said liverpool are interested in hoilett but says report of 6 mill bid etc are a load of crap. he said lpool have not even put a bid in yet but COULD do soon.

huntelaar - apparently he said lpool are looking at him but have made no official move as of yet, whatever reason we havent moved for him is something that only kenny and comolli will know.

luuk de jong - we are interested in him but it looks like he wont move until the summer.

demba ba - jay said lpool have no interest whats so ever because he has knee problems and is at the ACON. he said lpool are looking for a striker to come in for right now. so its a no no for demba ba.

xabi alonso - apparently according to jay - he said xabi will DEFO move back to liverpool in the SUMMER and thats how confident he is of that. so sorry if its not for january but thought i would share the news with all the fans of xabi. personally im very happy he told me this.

except for that guys, jay couldnt really update me with anything else. i did however asked him to get kenny to one side and tell him the fans would like a right winger and possible either podolski or erikson for ajax. he just laughed and said ill ask kenny to get messi aswell lol.

lastly i would also like to say thanks for the support lads. i know theres a few negative people who criticize what i say. i was going to post around 10pm because thats when these jokes who criticize me would probably be watching desperate scousewives haha. ill will be back on friday lads. If i get any news before then, well ill let you know. peace.

-----the spear report-----

It's nice to know that jay spearing is involved in kenny and comollis thoughts regarding transfers.
Complete and utter tripe!

BW

I thought you said you couldnt reveal to much lol

Molbys big toe

Complete and utter tosh. I (1) don't believe that you actually know Jay Spearing and (2) why would Jay know every in and out, nook and crannie of our transfer dealings. Players don't often know that much of whats goin on. Even rooney said he didn't know about scholes 'till it happened.

This is meant to be a rumours site, NOT make up bulls**t site. NOB ED!!

Ive got martin kellys cousin on xbox live and i met him a few times before the game in the albert and i was speaking to him and his dad (they showed me photos for proof) and they said martin does not know anything at all about transfers or anything regarding decisions about liverpool, they said the best info they get from him is what they do in training, i can not see them lying about this, so how does jay spearing know so much?
Cheers
G BOX

This is a joke. Alonso back to Liverpool? He was just named to the team of the year (one of the top four midfielders in the world....). Why would Madrid let him go? We blew that one years ago when we let him leave.

If any of this is remotely true then spearing wouldn't be in kennys good books, let's face it there is no way spearing knows anything regarding transfers, so cut the crap and get get to bed, it is a school night after all

As a personal friend to jay what a load of unbelievable bullsh*t! if theres ever any noise within the camp and with the players its because its close not because whatever youv made up that is happening in the summer or the fantasy that you first of all get this "info" but the fact you claim one of the most professional people iv ever had the pleasure to play with and befriend would ever tell a gossip and give away any inside info for the sake of an obvious name dropper.

Philson

Had a nice laugh at least

Rubbish... Xabi wanted to come back but at 30 Liverpool won't touch him...FACT

You were going to post at 10.00 p.m. - Wouldn't your mum let you stay up that late?

Redpath

Akright lads, just coming to once again to put you all in your place. did u read my last post on friday? jay is a good mate of mine, so please dont be jelous, it aint good. i really thought use would be preparing to watch desperate scousewives as a few of you are probably bitchier than them birds in that.

we are not living in the 70's. the players now a days hear alot of stuff. nothing is kept secret. the players hear of other players from the media and discuss and hear through what kenny and comolli are doing, but not all of it. the main thing im doing is letting you know what players are at of our INTEREST, NOT the fact they will sign.

ill see ye on friday lads. if it makes it better by saying liverpool will sign maradona and zidane, then next time ill post that and may get more respect. you will soon see if im a fake or not. laters

Hell y dont u become friends with gerrard and he'd ask u who to sign while he splashes the cash on them

To the spear report

you are an absolute beaut. your a legend mate. egnore what the divs say. you get them everywhere. look at other posts and all you see is back feed back.

the red kop

Spearings sh*te anway why woukd kenny tell him anytin? Load of twoddle

Lol. Can just imagine Spearing discussing transfer matters in this much details with Kenny and Comolli. Is he also helping design the new stadium too? Lovely stuff.

The Spear Report is the best thing I've read amongst the dross here in days. Keep it coming!!

Keep em coming Spears boy.

Lol so Kenny tolds Spearing that Xabi is comming back, I can just imagine.

King Kenny: " Jay you are a wee bit s**te so I will be getting Alonso back in the summer to make sure you never have to play again"

You said you where on the phone with him and you said he apparently said something. You must know if he said it or not!

Great post...actually quite entertaining...but maybe best suited for the banter page. Dont believe a word of it!

Gav

The spear report? What a load of rubbish

This is a good factual report. It talks a lot of dribble and possibilities. Similar to what we have been haring every transfer window on who may or may not be coming. Mata was red hot to come to LFC but we got downing. Look at all the talent we have missed over the years. But at least we have Carol!

The gerrard report ... dont believe ought spearing says he s a lying little b**tard...and so s his mate.

Utter b.....ks

It's more entertaining than some of the ridiculous sh**e posted on this site. YNWA

Some people do talk crap when the windows open

Give the guy some cred he telling us wat we want to hear maybe not spearings words maybe we as fans should start to believe our team is already good enough give cred were cred due king kenny is a asset took us outta relegation to just outside europe get of these peoples backs an hear em out coz if any of it came true you would be up in arms shouting yea decent signings not thanking this guy if he wrong thats how life goes we never gonna get top players if we cant get champions lge .

You are a sick twisted little boy.. What happened to you during your childhood that made you grow up thinking that you could just make up tall tales to make yourself feel better. I myself have had 3 of my cousins playing professional football over the years and they said that they don't get told s**t about any transfers for the reason that one of the players wives best friends dogs previous owner may let it slip to a little git like you who runs straight to his keyboard. But it looks like your imagination is the only source you need.

People should refer jay to Mr spearing now that he is in the mix with transfers haha !!

I am going to make the Craig Bellamy report every week where I ring him and he tells me everything and then I am going to put it on here so everyone will think I am an useless t**t, get a grip.

Im one of jays best mates so who are you because ive spoke to him and he knows as much as us when it comes to signings so come clean and give us your name and we can confirm you talking bull

lee

The whole of the Sperm Report is crap. Just ignore him and he will go away.

Reading all the BS on here Liverpool have some squad to train in January.........go do some work

Its funny how these kids typing here are all mouth behind a keyboard. i honestly think hes telling the truth.

why do you see everywhere, heard from a source and alot of you like it? i thought kenny and comolli only discuss transfers???

talking to spearing is alot more realistic than saying heard from a source.

Hey ed Liverpool have made serious enquires about Nathan Redmond.

Also theres a high chance we will get one of Hoilett/Sinclair.

YNWA 92 LFC

09 Jan 2012 20:09:40
hi eds, just wondering if there was any chance of us acquiring some young english talent this january? would players like anthony pilkington, elliott bennett, ryan shotton and victor moses fit the FSG transfer policy? thanks {Ed002's Note - I would not expect too much to happen in January.}

09 Jan 2012 19:49:57
Hello Eds, do you happen to know what the situation is with Nathan Eccleston will he be leaving this summer? Or will he progress to make a push in the first team , hopefully he can progress {Ed002's Note - The summer is a long way off and we need to wait to see what happens.}

Eds haven't a clue.No point asking. {Ed002's Note - You value added impact to this web site is zero. So why do festering little anonymous trolls like you bother to type anything?}

I've always liked Eccleston, he may never become the most prolific striker in the world but he is very clever. I do hope he can still push his way in but with Morgan and Ngoo playing so well he may not get the chance. Shame.

TSP

I agree TSP, he looks very lively and would even suit Wing play. I remember Nathan coming on V Napoli in the Europa league he looked very dangerous and had a good cameo role , bit of a shame that he has not had a chance in the F.A or Carling . Though reserve ATM is a very exciting prospect

09 Jan 2012 19:51:26
Hi Eds, we have seen many users (including me) asking me whether we are going to any certain player.

But the question I want to ask is how likely are we to sign any striker this transfer window? Also are we looking to bolster any other positions as well?

Thanks TheBigCrazy23 {Ed002's Note - I cannot answer questions about "how likely" easily. I have explained that there is interest in players such as De Jong - I acnnot say when and if a bid will go in and if it will be acceptable.}

09 Jan 2012 19:39:51
hey eds great site any chances in getting :
Benedikt Höwedes, Tomas Rincon or Julian Draxler
cheers. {Ed002's Note - I very much doubt it.}

09 Jan 2012 19:57:17
Hey eds
Heard anything new on Moussa Sissoko? I know we had a high amount of interest in the summer but for some reason, never followed it up. I believe he would be a terrific addition to the squad.
Which strikers do you know we have expressed interest in/watched? Would like somebody to come in, preferably a goal scorer but I would imagine one or two to come in and be used in rotation with both Suarez and Carroll.
Any new on some youngsters being used a little more in the first team? I believe we have a few that are ready to make a step up and potentially make a few appearances here and there. {Ed002's Note - Nothing on Sissoko, sorry.}

09 Jan 2012 19:57:01
Hi eds, just thought id ask if you had head of any scouting for Andy Polo? He plays for Universitario. Have been told that we have been looking at him, just wondered if you could confirm this...thanks.
Big Red Welsh Dave {Ed002's Note - Although Arsenal, Liverpool, Athletico Madrid, Udinese, Palermo, Genoa, Hamburg and PSV showed an interest, it seems most likely Andy Polo will stay in South America for a year or two and the maybe move to Schalke as he will not get his desired move to Barcelona or Inter Milan.}

09 Jan 2012 19:57:01
Liverpool are chasing 17 year old Nantes striker Jawad Boukabous, according to French Paper L'Equipe.

09 Jan 2012 19:25:11
Eds, are you aware of any interest in Blackpool right winger Matt Phillips by LFC or any other PL club?

Robbo7 {Ed002's Note - Nope.}

I was aware that we had scouted Phillips a few times last year, but that simply places him alongside countless others in that category and it is not an indication that we are about to make a move for him. I've no idea if there has been any follow up interest this season, but his form of late may raise his profile once again.

Hi Ed, respect all the work your putting in over the january transfer window.

Was searching for agreement rather then a rumour, im hearing news we signed Hoilet, and would you agree that we then dont need to sign a striker? I figure all of our chances currently are lacking pace, and the crosses into big Andy are all predictable, if hoilet (for example) could sprint down the wing and whip in a cross it would be a lot easier for Andy to score and create another dimension for play. I beleive this is how Andy was scoring so freely at Newcastle, with the pace and quality of service through Ben Arfa % co. please reply, thankyou. {Ed002's Note - I did not know that Liverpool had signed Hoilett and I have no feeling the impact that would have on the signing of a striker. My information is very different to this right now and I have explained what I understand to be correct. As I don't use Twitter I am obviously at a disadvantage.}

Whats your information then ed? {Ed002's Note - As I have said I have already explained - but I am getting trash and abuse from the Twitterettes or whatever they are called. It is hopeless me explaining anything when most people are convinced he has already signed.}

Ed002 I personally think.you should set up a Twitter account. Loads of people there seems to have sources that are very close to the club and find out transfer news before dalglish does. You can also earn a few bucks through skybet too.. {Ed002's Note - Got to be the way to go. Now I have an appreciation society: tinyurl.com/7fbgecd on Facebook/}

09 Jan 2012 19:12:34
Blackburn Rovers have rejected a transfer request from Junior Hoilett as Tottenham and Liverpool both continue to circle.
Liverpool, however, have been in discussions with both Blackburn and Hoilett's representatives in the previous weeks regarding the possibility of a move

09 Jan 2012 19:09:54
Liverpool will make a bid for Honda and Soldado.

Liverpool are very tight lipped when it comes to transfer targets for obvious reasons, so I personally don't think that anyone will have any solid transfer rumour information. My source is somebody who has heard something from a journalist so its not concrete but to me it makes alot of sense so I've posted it and put my credibility on the line.

Daniel Hanwell YNWA

Erm... you put your credibility on the line in August when you guaranteed Aguero would be signing. you don't have anything left to be putting on the line, mate.

Was that the clown who said Kun would be coming out in red at half time during the match last week?

09 Jan 2012 19:08:35
all these true eds?

1) Liverpool may well step up their interest in Newcastle's Demba Ba after it was revealed his release clause was less than £10m.

2) Neil Lennon has dismissed speculation he is prepared to sell Celtic trio Kris Commons, Gary Hooper and Adam Matthews in the January window.

3) Liverpool are in for Saloman Kalou

4) Liverpool have been told to switch their attentions elsewhere after CSKA Moscow issued a hands-off warning for Japanese star Keisuke Honda.

5) One of the best young talents emerging on the European stage. Markovic has all the hallmarks of a young Michael Owen.

{Ed002's Note - (1) We don't know that there has been interest; (2) I really don't know; (3) Seems unlikely; (4) Seems like speculation; (5) He is a just a kid.}

In relations to option number 5 "he is just a kid" so was michael owen when he debut for liverpool and he was 18 when he scored against argentina in world cup 98.

ACHILLES. {Ed002's Note - Irrelevant. The question I cannot answer sensibly was if this 17 year old kid playing in Belgrade "has all the hallmarks of a young Michael Owen".}

Demba Ba will never I repeat never pass a medical. Ba has no cartledge in his knee. Hence why none of the big hitters have done anything about him!! Anyone that thinks thatwe will sign him is bonkers cos it isn't going to happen! Sorry people.

(1) not true
(2) stokes on the other hand?
(3) nope
(4) seems like a fair comment, he would be hard to get away from russia in general, valuable player in a lucrative market.
(5) yes, just a kid, much like michael owen was at the 98 WC!

Cheers.

Red7.

LFC will be signing Junior Hoilett for a fee in the region of 6m, despite Spurs interest because Hoilett believes he will get more regular football here aswell as the fact Redknapp is trying to offload Kranjcar and Pavlyuchenko to raise funds first. Kenny and Comolli believe this deal is a no brainer.

DC is currently trying to thrash out a deal with Newcastle for the transfer of Cheik Tiote... Tiote has travelled to Africa but personal terms have been agreed with the player beforehand (illegally yes but it happens all the time nowadays) and if Comolli can agree a fee with Newcastle, Tiote will seek leave to complete a medical here in England.

Darren Bent will not sign for LFC. We did look at him but his wage demands are too high and we feel his all round play isnt good enough. Jermain Defoe will also not sign because his wage demands are also too high. Bafetimbi Gomis is the striker Kenny is after and he is very keen on the lad. The only problem is convincing him to leave Lyon, a team competing in the CL for us. I have no idea if he will be a replacement for Carroll but I do know Carroll will be allowed to leave for the right price. But we are not desperate for him to leave as far as I know.

Cheers,

Jay

Ed do you know if we have tried for any players so far this window but been told no, either not available or the player doesn't want to come? Or have we not tried yet? {Ed002's Note - We do not know if any bids have been made. If however you follow Twitter and believe everything on there about a dozen players have already signed. Hoilett, Bent, Sinclair, Ganso etc.}

Some randomer mentions we're looking at Abel Hernandez as we need a winger and he's Uruguayan and every Tom, Dick and Harry jumps on the bang wagon and thinks we're going to sign him.

I think not, He would likely cost between £15-20m espescially mid-season and I don't see us forking out that kind of money in January when we have quite a few players who can play on the wings (Downing, Bellamy, Maxi, Henderson, Kuyt) Although some are not natural wingers they can still play there.

We surely must concentrate on a Striker, in my opinion that is all we are lacking in our push for a CL spot. We create chance after chance, match after match and yet we dont score half as many goals we should. I doubt we'll buy Bent for the price and the fact that McLeish has reiterated Dalglish has told him that Liverpool will not be in for Bent.

I think we could maybe use a Lucas type of player too but don't think we will pay a lot for a player in that position as when Lucas comes back he will almost certainly go straight back in.

Hopefully, Dalglish & co. will sign a Striker who can play alongside both Carroll and Suarez and knows where the net is. Oh and to add to that, Suarez will not be going anywhere in the next few years just because some ass in the paper says he won't be able to handle abuse from fans, pffff

LFCHAWK

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think Abel Hernandez is a CF not a winger

You don't see us forking out 15-20m in January? Are you able to remember January 2011?

Abel Hernandez is a striker. Doubt we're after him though.

He's a striker 100%

He won't be moving anywhere as he's been out injured since October

Ed's just a quick question if you don't mind as I'm a bit confused with the Demba Ba thing.

If a club did offer the amount the so-called clause in Ba's contract and Newcastle were forced to accept, Demba Ba wouldn't have to accept the deal would he?

Just thinking that it would sort of be pointless to chase a player that is happy at his current club, and won't be available until 12th of Feb at the latest. I know what I'm writing sounds a bit stupid, and I have checked the archives, but I'm still a bit confused.

Cheers {Ed002's Note - No, you cannot force a player to sign a contract.}

Demba Ba's clause only applies to teams that were/are in Europe. Liverpool will not be signing Ba in January

You can if you have the right armour?

Ed, haven't heard anything on Andy Polo for a while, is there any news on that front? Looks as if he could be a great prospect with lightning pace (something we've been lacking, would you agree?), is there still a chance he could become a Liverpool player, or should we not hold our breath? Cheers pal

ToonRed {Ed002's Note - Nothing. He is only a kid and I really don't see him moving right now.}

I have contacts in Fulham FC who are saying that we have approached them officially to speak to Kerim Frei - Swiss winger; young; tricky and very pacy.

Not a lot seen of him in the senior team yet but he has been looked at regularly according to my source.

My source said that unfortunately for them, it would be likely that he would go if given the chance to join Liverpool.

He has huuuge potential this kid!!

Father of Truth

Very exciting player with potential to be a world beater. Comparisons already being made with 'you know who'. Sign him up while we can still afford him.

Liverpool are leading a three-team race to sign Dijon's in-form midfielder Benjamin Corgnet.

The 24-year-old has hit seven goals in 18 Ligue 1 games this season, sparking interest among a number of Premier League sides.

Newcastle reportedly had a £4.5m bid for the 24-year-old rejected last week and are now out of the race, but Aston Villa and Blackburn have now been alerted to his form across the Channel.

French newspaper L'Equipe claims Liverpool have sent scouts to watch Corgnet up to four times and Dijon coach Patrice Cateron has admitted he doesn't think he will complete his current contract that ends in 2015.

"He will almost certainly go at the end of the season but we still do not know where," Cateron said.

Hope we sign him he's mustard

If Madrid want Suarez I'd be gutted, IF it happened though the only way would be 10mil + Higuain + Alonso back. End of story. Haha. YNWA

That's crazy talk. Liverpool won't be getting the 2005 version of Alonso back. You realize that, right? If we are in fantasy land, I'd like to see Higuain and Ozil instead.

And first option of ozil

KopEndDannyLFC

Id go straight swap ozil and higuain

I agree with Ozil + Higuian. The Alonso comment was to make light of the situation. I personally adore the work ethic and heart Suarez shows for us. We need to bring in top talent not sell it away.

Madrid have success with this team and I do't think at the moment they let any of their player leave.

09 Jan 2012 16:38:09
Hey ed, at present who is the most likeliest striker to join us? Who wud u put ur money on?
Indian Buzzer {Ed002's Note - I would not put money on anyone and it really is impossible to say who is the most likely. The club are not going to buy just for the sake of it so if they cannot get the players they want they will wait until the summer. Interest remains in Luuk De Jong, so perhaps he should head the list, but of course we have been bombarded with the unsubstantiated Bent done, Hoilett done, Soldado don, Sinclair done, Rhodes done questions arriving via Twitter. In terms of players available that have been looked at, much can be extracted from teh round up posted earlier.}

09 Jan 2012 16:22:46
Eds, what are your thoughts on Nathan Dyer? I'm not sure he's good enough to play for 'pool but he works hard and knows his role on the wing. {Ed002's Note - If a player is not better than what the club has it makes little point in buying him.}

I think he would be a better option on the right than Kuyt or Henderson out of position on the wing.

Ed002 - That makes no sense at all. Every club, including Liverpool, buy players that are not better than the person already in position at the club, I'm sure thats what they call back up players.

Baz Mac {Ed002's Note - Ok, on that basis Liverpool may as well do away with the academy and the reserves as they will never get a chance to come through.}

09 Jan 2012 16:09:52
eds, how can you not be 'aware' if of lfc's interest in hoilett? it's everywhere and pretty much all of the reputable sources have confirmed it..... {Ed002's Note - I have had absolutely no confirmation of any Liverpool interest in Junior Hoilett at this time.}

Eds.......bid has been accepted {Ed002's Note - Excellent news for Liverpool then. You can all celebrate now.}

Can i ask do you work for hoilett?

sounds like he is trying to force a move away from sinking ship

"it's everywhere and pretty much all of the reputable sources have confirmed it"

err where and which sources?....im seeing the mail and the mirror with the story so not what i'd call reputable

Maxi to Anzhi (The Russian Club) for £25.

Seems they took a liking to his recent 'form'.

You heard it here... maybe second.

TomtheRed

£25 seems a bit cheap, even for a player of his age!

Ye and carroll might be going there aswell for 100 mill

Ive heard its a straight swap instead maxi for eto and they will pay eto's wages

Lmao maxi for 25 mill, you must be joking?

I know he's not the greatest player in world but surly he's worth more than £25

I suspect it was actually £2.5M

I know its fake but anything over 10 mill for maxi i would be doing cartwheels from my house to mellwood

Let him go for 24 million.

I this did happen i would run to mellwood pick maxi up and carry him all the way to russia myself

For 25 quid i will buy him for my local side bournemouth !

My word, if we got 25M for him, i would personally go marry the broker who made that deal.

Surely he must be atleast 80M. I heard that Barca are willing to sell LFC Messi as long as they can pay his wages. They are also willing to send all their youngsters here!!. You heard it here first guys...

I wonder if an ed or anybody else could answer this?
If real Madrid did put a bid in for Suarez and it was accepted and he moved there. Would he still be banned from playing? Is it just English FA games or is it Europe wide?

MIKEY

Oh and for the record trolls I don't expect Suarez to be sold for a good few years, I'm just curious. {Ed002's Note - The ban would be ratified by UEFA to apply across Europe.}

So why didn't suarez's ban from holland get carried over to england?

It did you muppet

Eds do we have any genuine interest in Lazar Markovic the serbian striker {Ed002's Note - None that I am aware of, perhaps when he is older.}

Fiorentina will buy Markovic like they earlier buy Jovetic,Ljajic,Gulan,etc.All this guys are from Partizan Belgrade football school.Liverpool should at least send scout to Belgrade ,this kid has very good future at least.Serbian Red

09 Jan 2012 14:24:53
I must say that I am really finding some of the valuations of Suarez on here to be a great laugh anything from £30 mil plus Higuian to £60 mil. I think we paid about £24 mil for him a year ago, in that 12 month period he has scored a staggering 9 league goals and got 8 league assists, hardly set the world alight, I've said it on here numerous times now, he is not all that great, very exciting to watch, but so is Die Hard, however neither are going to win us a Premier league, if we were to make a profit of anything between £5 and £10 mil, and bring in a 20 goal a season player using the money made from the sale and have a bit of cash left over for another flutter in the market I would jump at it, and while this is obviously influenced by the recent incidents it is mostly down to the fact that despite all his flair, inventiveness and general good play his record is poor, this time last year we sold Torres, he was our hero, he scored as many league goals for us in half his last season (which was his worst his whole time here) than Suarez has scored in a whole year, did losing Torres make us weaker? No it made us stronger! we are far better off now and if we had a player who hit the net consistently we could be in a title race now, rather than a race row and challenging for 4th place. So I know there is a few people who will agree with this but most of you wont, but to those who don't, every morning when you wake up look East, that's where the sun shines from and it is not Luis Suarez's a$$.

Gman82

You're a tube mate. Torres had a team with mascherano , alonso and gerrard at his peak , all playing in a team that raga tailor made for Torres. The team we have now is good but it has nothing on the 2008 squad we had. If Suarez had played in that 2008 team I guarantee he would have been scoring for fun. Suarez hasn't even had a run of games with gerrard yet

Suarez is world class, why else would Madrid want or need him. I have no doubt whatsoever the goals will come when he and Gerrard play together.

Suarez has scored 150 goals in 264 career games to date. Actually better than Higuain.
Your forgetting he joined a struggling team that had just changed the Manager and after last Summers outgoings and incomings is still in transition and finding it's feet and he's still managed to come back from a successful summer tournament
with Uruguay and put in some fantastic performances and score some fantastic goals for Liverpool.

U talkin utter crap he only here a year an u want rid cop on onr real prob is carroll waste of space adam not liverpool standard downing a flop so far henderson maybe ok in time we need 2 wingers an a striker an a creative midfielder an then we might have a shot at league

So have we resigned our best player to nothing more than a show boater get a grip you tool.

Can we all stop talking about suarez leaving ! Let's leave him be for the moment n let everthing die down all this talk n rumours everywhere won't help the situation

I cannot believe how many of these so called fans are having a go at Suarez! He hasn't done anything wrong since he came and has provided the more spark on the field, which we lacked when Mr Torres qas here. So what if he doesn't score that many goals? He main attribute is to give defenders a hard time so other players have more space to use! And it is not that he is incapable of scoring, its just the clubs luck this year with the amount of woodwork they hit. And let's not forgot he came to Liverpool when the club was sinking to its lowest. For anyone who is interested in supporting a club with a good scorer why don't you support arsenal? They have a player that looks like he can manage 50goals a season.

I agree with certain things but i see suarez more of a playmaker behind the striker and he would be perfect playing behind a torres or a higuain.
i personally would'nt sell suarez to get in another player. we need to try an add quality to our squad not sell for a like for like type player.
skurks

So your saying Suarez is worth £29m-34m,let me guess your a arm chair fan,he is the only liverpool player who will get you off your seat,he is the most exciting and best player in the epl.he would walk into any team in the world including barca.so which player would you buy

But y'all need to temper the price tag a lil' bit. We are not going to get over 40M for him, and that is in euros. We'd be lucky if we come close to that figure even.

BooDaBooze

I have to say that Gman82 does have a point to a certain extent. For those of you who say Suarez would be scoring for fun with better players around him, there is just no evidence to prove that. He has missed a load of opportunities this season that a striker should be putting away, and that has nothing to do with how good the supply to him is. Granted in a better team he may get more opportunities, but his finishing still has to improve significantly. That said I have no doubt that he is a class player. I'm just still not sure if may be a better attacking midfielder/supporting striker. I hope he proves me wrong and bangs in 20 from Gerrard assists!

I'm a tube? No your a tube, where did I say anything about our 2008 squad? The only mention of Torres was with regards to our 10/11 squad with no Mascherano or Alonso, any way that was all besides the point I was merely making a comparison, to highlight the FACT that an inform Suarez has not score as many goals as an out of form Torres did for us, personally I think Suarez is good player and I'm more than happy for him to stay and I certainly don't want Torres back, but if selling him at a profit after a pretty average year is best for the club than do it, I can't believe how easily people are won over by fancy footwork when the lack of end product is so blatantly in front of our eyes, not to mention the fact he constantly ignores players in better positions and the going to ground every time he is challenged.

Gman82

Are you making a comparison between a human being and a film, as surely they are different entities entirely? Are we going to play Saving Private Ryan at centre half?

What's a tube? sounds a bit girly!

I stand by my point , you are still a tube. You say your making a comparison, but your comparison is unfair because Torres played for a different liverpool. Suarez goal scoring record for Ajax and his country is phenomenal . If Suarez was playing for Madrid or barca he would be scoring for fun. So quite frankly , as a Liverpool supporter I would have thought you would be praising Suarez for the talent he is. Suarez, silva, aguero and Rooney are the best players in the league. I think most would agree to be honest. Once we get in another striker to help Suarez, pending the quality of the new addition, I would guarantee he starts bagging goals all over the show! Rab

Suarez is there to stay

Suarez is utter class. I see him SD a play maker and we need a finisher in the mould of a van nistelrooy.

So Rab, if I compare Suarez to Torres its unfair, but yet you are making comparisons with his goal scoring record at Ajax, that's slightly hypocritical don't you think? I'm not slagging the player I'm having a go at all the fans with rose tinted glasses that are putting ridiculous values of up to £60 mil on a player who's record is not very good, and if you'r going to guarantee that he will score more goals than your as foolish as the rest of the ones I'm having a go at, I agree he is in the very top bracket of players in the league when it come to ability, there are few better, but at the end of the day its a game of statistics and at 4:45 on a Saturday afternoon there is only 1 statistic that counts, the score and if Suarez was man of the match, made 11 chances for himself but doesn't score and we draw nill all with Swansea then it may as well have been me wearing the number 7. I find it quite funny reading through all the responses mostly saying how awesome he is and that he hasn't had the he thlp, to those people I say look at Yakubu 15 goals in a team in the bottom 3, what we need now is a goalscorer not an amazingly gifted player who terrorises defences for 90 mins and leaves the pitch without a goal, I'm not saying sell, I'm happy for him to stay if that is what's best for the club, but if the owners and management team decide that he can be sold at a profit after a year where (no matter how well he played or how stringently you want to believe differently) he has not lived up to the hype and delivered when we needed it, than I will accept that and be happy with what they do, who are any of us to disagree. There is also one response above that I found extremely funny so I'm going to put a quote in from it "U talkin utter crap he only here a year an u want rid cop on onr real prob is carrol waste of space adam not liverpool standard downing a flop" this for me personifies everything that I am trying to get across, I'm a fan of the club, not the individual, this guy has a go at me saying he's only here a year then contradicts himself immediately by slagging of players who are here the same or less amount of time. Anyway its all about opinions and however much I might disagree with others or think they are hilariously stupid I respect them all cause at the end of the day we all want the same thing and that's the last I have to say on this topic.

Gman82

Some people are pathetic! Suarez has been one of our best players this season, OK he has not been banging them in like we would have hoped but who else on the LFC side has? Just think if we had scored all the goals that hit the woodwork where would we be? Just because he is banned doesn't mean he will leave don't you think it is more likely that he will have felt that he has let LFC down and now want to make it up to them and us and prove himself, from what I can tell about Suarez's character that is the more likely outcome.

Gman 82 said it all

You clearly don't know quality when you see it and have low football knowledge, if you can't see thst Suarez is world class, start watching netball. Wayne rooney hasn't had many season as a goal scoring or assistance machine but is still regarding by the professional of the game who know what they are talking as one of the best players in the world

Just like to point out he's scored 12 goals, got just as many assists, being an integral part of our team and is worth his weight in gold...give the guy a chance

Gman82 has a point, this website is full of valid opinions and some not so valid. I agree with him. Suarez is class and as a club we need to either sell him to produce squad depth (competition), or accept we're still in a rebuilding phase and support his talent. If an offer of £35mil came in, I'd sell!

Im in utter shock hearing someone say sell suarez for a 5 million pound profit - he has been guilty of poor finishing but it's something going through the whole team at the moment, look at his uruguay performances and goals. most clubs maybe not barca would have him in an instant, the whole racism row with evra erupted because he was given evra such a bad time now how many strikers can say that. he is a wonderful intelligent, technically gifted determined footballer that will only get better and if we sold him now for 5 million pounds profit it would be the most ridiculous thing ever, thank god people like you arent actually involved in the club - rant over

You should give your head a wobble pal sounds like summats come loose! you think selling our best player will get us further suarez hit the epl running because he's a tallented intelligent player, who is still yet to play along side 1 of the worlds best midfielders (gerrard) the reason he's having all this trouble is because the clubs and players can also see he's a great player and fear his skill! when all this rubbish blows over he'll be back more focused with a point to make (unless he goe's abroad hope not) and then arm chair fans like you will regret posting crap like you just did and as for traitor torres he was only the player he was because of the players around him he aint got that now thats why he's crap were as suarez came into a team knowing no one and shone! point made pal so stop posting crap and sort your head out, if you dont like go and support that manc shower down the road!!

So Gman82, we wouldn't get a lot of money for a player who 'doesn't have a good record'. Brilliant. Suarez goal scoring record is phenomenal. He hasn't had a prolific season but why would we EVER judge a player on such a short space of time?
You seem to be judging a players worth solely on his goal scoring record, and a VERY selective portion of this record to boot.
Get behind him, support him, the goals will come, the performances have been electrifying.
And why are you banging on about laughing at over people's posts? Bit arrogant for someone who seems so clueless about the game if you ask me?
I will skirt past the embarrassing Yakubu nonsense, and finnish by highlighting the funniest pearl of wisdom from your daft rant...
"I'm happy for him to stay, if that is what's best for the club.."
Nice one, thanks for that... I'm sure Kenny will breathe a sigh of relief.

In fairness gman82, I agree thatthe post you quoted is ridiculous. I was disagreeing with you because I felt you werent really giving Suarez the credit that myself and so many others think he is due. But just a slight difference of opinion on his ability I guess. Apologies for the name calling and no hard feelings eh lad! Rab

OK, I was going to leave it with my last post, but seen as some people find it hard to understand what I'm trying to say I will make one more. Yes, Suarez is a very good player, but he hasn't got a very good goal scoring record for us, never mind what he done at Ajax or for Uruguay I really couldn't care about that, I just don't think he is any where near the player that most of you do, and if that shows a lack of knowledge or makes me an arm chair supporter than so be it, but I'm a realist, I see it for what it is, he's just 1 cog in a much bigger thing, the club, I really hope that I am proven wrong and he turns out to be a legend but with his already low scoring season and the fact he's sitting in the stands for the next 6 matches I don't think it will happen this year, at the end of the day the stats tell the truth, I can back up what I'm saying because for all his good play he's being outscored by players from Norwich, Swansea and Blackburn, what can you use to back up your opinions, we all want to be entertained but what good is it without an end product. And yes I agree, thank god I'm not running the team because me, you and everyone else posting here really wouldn't have a clue how to do it, as I've said before I'm only expressing an opinion, if one person on here can give me 1 statistic that can make me change that opinion I will admit I'm wrong, but the truth is they're not there. Anyway this is getting tiring and I'm supposed to be studying.

Gman82

I think this is one of the best posts thats been on here for ages. Suarez is top player but if we could buy a striker who will get us 20 plus goals a season for 25million why not,but if we could get a striker for that price and that many goals and keep Luis we'll be not very far from a qulity team once again..buy a couple of young wingers in for a few million each in the summer and a quality centre midfielder cant see what else we need then
Thanks

Gman82, you can never base your facts about a striker on only goal scoring for 1 club alone. You base it on scoring for all his clubs he has played for. Then what point would it be for someone to open Wikipedia and find his goals scored in these many appearances. And right down to it, i will agree that Suarez's dutch league isnt as strong as ours, but i think when you bring in the question of Torres, i can guarantee that even IF Torres chose to stay and given the team we have right now, even he would struggle to score even if all he has to do is put his leg to divert the ball into the net.
It pretty obvious that both strikers need service to show their talent but Suarez for me is special than Torres because he goes that extra mile to create that service for others and himself. I can only imagine if we got Higuain, we would be Immortal to say the least.

Btw on a side note, i see Mario Goetze as the answer to Steven Gerrard retiring(when he does). Goetze for me is pretty much the german version of G8 in his early 20's. Not very prolific, but he can lift the team with his heart. Shoot me but last season, Dortmund owed much to him for the assists he gave to Barrios, Robert and co...

Alzonator. The future LFC manager(not sure when though)...

Alzonator, you make a fair point and yes Suarez's goal scoring record is top drawer, but when judging him as a Liverpool player, looking at his stats for Ajax or Gronigen is pointless, I don't want people to think I have something against the Kid or that I'm calling for him to be sold, but if we were to receive an offer like some of the offers being quoted on this site I think it would be good business for the club, I would love to see Suarez and Higuain play for Liverpool together, but unfortunately I don't think were in the position to see such a thing happen, and if it were the case that if Saurez was to be sold and Higuain or another out and out goalscorer brought in with some extra money for the transfer kitty I think it would be beneficial to the club.

Gman82

Gman you obviously have no idea of the beautiful game and i doubt whether you are a true red. Suarez is electrifying on the field and terrorises defences for 90 mins whether he scores goals or not, his presence and work rate is good enough for any team in the world.

Alzonator. The future LFC manager(not sure when though)...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The future Liverpool manager is looking at pale immitations to replace the real thing

Good call Gman 82.

In fairness suarez was purchased as a feeder for traitor torres but that muppet did one on us, so now luis is been used as a out an out striker and things arnt jelling but all i can say is when this window closers and hopefully suarez is still a red fortunes will change for the best and the goals will fly in, all we need is a good striker this window so fingers crossed

Suarez and £5m for Higuain and Ozil - heard it here first

That's the only deal I would accept for Suarez {Ed002's Note - It is not going to happen.}

Dream on pal

Id prefer that deal, highly unlikely none the less

Id deal but carnt see it happening

Are ye mad saurez is class act he causes so much hassle for defenders its unreal yes he not scored enough but where is his support no where our prob is adam not good enough downing not good enough henderson not good enough yet if we had another striker 2 help saurez then we look in ok shape

Nah, ive heard bull S**t before now somewhere else - you are not the first.

Suarez up front with Higuain is all we need.
Everything other aspect of the team will gain in confidence and improve with just the one signing Higuain!!
kidmillions

Actually, i was firster than you.

I will like it but its not happen. Mourinho not going to sale ozil in january .

Suarez isnt worth anywhere near Higuain OR Ozil. It would have to be Suarez and 30mil for the both of them.

No I said this last week

Currently bombs Demba Ba for Newcastle in the Premier League but it does not stop the attacker in order to vent his enthusiasm for other teams.

- I've always been a fan of Paris Saint Germain, and it is a club which is really interesting, but a change there will probably not be likely in January, says Demba Ba, according to RMC.

Although Demba Ba thus suggest a future shift to French football, so he continued to concentrate on the national team and Newcastle.

- My first goal is Senegal and getting a good result for the African Nations Cup, and then I shall continue to perform for Newcastle, says the Ba.

09 Jan 2012 13:47:13
Hi ed/s, just a quick question i was hoping you could help me out.

Ba signed for Newcastle in the Summer, would he be able to sign for another PL club in January?

Cheers in advance. {Ed002's Note - Yes.}

Short memory, robbie keane did the same thing not long ago

09 Jan 2012 13:36:53
Liverpool have made a bid for soldado

He was awful last night against Villareal. He is lethal when Valencia play at the Mestalla but he is virtually anonymous when they play away from home. Lethal finisher though when he gets his chances but he does allow himself to drift out of games.

Hi eds.
Heard anything on a potential Michael Owen return? I've heard a £5m figure being thrown around. {Ed002's Note - Nope.}

'Everyone' is getting out of their coffins for their roots, so you never know.

Mate, Owen isn't even worth 5 pounds....and I'm pretty sure Man Utd would give him on a free

£5 million for Owen who now wheres calipers when training! lets hope not eh

09 Jan 2012 13:13:22
Surely if Suarez leaves we must be looking for doubling our money - £45m, especially with some of the prices quoted for the likes of Hulk etc.

Suarez is worth atleast 60m

Keep dreaming. At the moment, Suarez is worth, at the most, somewhere between 35 and 40M tops.

BooDaBooze

Suarez is worth whatever our club wants for him {Ed002's Note - Actually he is worth whatever anyone will pay for him.}

09 Jan 2012 13:05:14
Eds

Is there any truth to demba ba having a buy out clause of less than ten million. And if so, have we shown any interest? I know there were issues with his medical previously but he seems to be fit and obvious in great form.

Cheers

Carrickfegus Red {Ed002's Note - I don't know what his contract says and we have no confirmation of interest.}

09 Jan 2012 12:49:48
Hi Ed's according to l'equipe we're meant to be interested in benjamin corgnet and jawad boukabous,firstly have u ever heard of either player and secondly are we interested ?
paul d {Ed002's Note - Manchester United, Liverpool and Aston Villa have apparently had folks watch Dijon's Corgnet recently but Newcastle are the only player I know to have been interested. Aside from that I canno help.}

09 Jan 2012 11:49:30
Hi Ed's and news on our interest in Swansea starlet Elliot Lee? {Ed002's Note - Nope, means nothing to me.}

09 Jan 2012 11:43:58
LFC are in a bidding war with Spurs for both Hoilett & Demba Ba.
Harry Redknapp has come out and said that Ba's release clause is infact half of the 10mil figure suggested.
If we manage to pull off these two deals & keep hold of our players, January will be a success.

Think it could be honours even?? daniel wont sign a player without an insurance policy, so that could rule out ba! and hoilett will go to spurs

If Ba has a release clause of £5-5.5m why would the clubs be in a bidding war? Surely they would offer no more the the release clause?

Why offer £10m when £5.5 will be accepted?

And how would 'arry know this ?

09 Jan 2012 11:26:11
Good morning eds & fellow reds. One of my sources is telling me we have simply left the bid of 17m with Villa for Bent - Villa want 24/25m and have denied all speculation as not to upset some already unruly fans. The other source says we are still interested and potentially negotiating - take from that what you will.

They know of no current negotiations for Luuk De Jong, however did have some info on sales:

Kuyt - not attracting massive amounts of interest and Liverpool dont mind holding on to him - he will play most carling cup/ FA cup games and unless we receive offers of circa 6m, he wont be leaving.

Maxi - has attracted interest from a few prem clubs, sources have both said stoke are interested, and potentially Villa. Qpr were thought to be interested too but unknown now due to managerial change. Liverpool want at least 4m but again, not desperate to see him leave.

No idea of any further incoming players apart from potentially Jarvis of Wolves who has been of interest for a while. No info on any bids for suarez as of yet and no info regarding the usual suspects i.e shaquiri and co.

OS Red

Your source being yourself? Nobody will pay 4million for Maxi and the club won't value him at that given he came to us for free and are likely to release him for free in the summer

If you read my earlier post from a few days ago using the search function you will see who my sources are - please do some research before jumping to conclusions. The point is that liverpool value him at 4m, i never said anybody else does - however if you consider his goal scoring record then you can see why some mid table teams would want him - just because a player comes on a free doesnt mean he will leave on one - a ' la demba ba. OS red

09 Jan 2012 11:12:02
hey ads great site!
do u think we could get pato if the reports of suarez to madrid are true?
thanks in advance {Ed002's Note - No, I don't see Pato moving to Liverpool in January.}

09 Jan 2012 10:58:45
Some logical reasoning:
Even without all the controversy surrounding Suarez
if Real Madrid were seriously interested in him
and made a bid of around 35-40 mil then...

(1) Surely Suarez would want to move
on to 'bigger club'.

(2) Would fit with Fenway sports policy, buy/sell
player and make a tidy profit after 1 year.

Then factor into this that Suarez don't want to have the label of racist associated with him. Liverpool are
very consious of their public image and racism.

The Conclusion: Suarez will leave 100%. I suspect
offer has already been made and Liverpool looking for big name replacement. It's elementary.

Sherlock Holmes

I woudln't say 100% Sherlock, why support the player so much then get rid? dont think its gunna happen

Dr Watson

NESV need to be very careful here.
Suarez ISNT a racist. That is overwhelmingly clear. He's part black for a start off. Players are NOT assets to be moved on once they appreciate. Our great teams had great players for LIFE.
Otherwise fans feel no affinity with new also rans brought in all the time.
NESV have NOT made a net spend on transfers despite horrifically high ticket prices.
They will incur the wrath of the more educated fans very soon, should they even attempt to unsettle Luis.
Remember how "excited" people were in the early days of that Tom Hicks.

Many of us are ready to act against NESV. We know how they smear players that they want to make a profit on.
Too many Mancs and undercover NESV staff on here, IMO {Ed002's Note - Can you help us identify these undercover FSG staff? Do you know who they are?}

Surely if the owners FSG wanted to sell Suarez, Then got a like for like player ie: Higuan and made a profit in the process thats good for the club as a whole?

Jamie

It's the alien's man. They're all out to get us!

NESV are doing a fine job. Get a grip.

I think people should stop talking about FSG / NESV policies when they clearly have no understanding of 'moneyball' and what it entails...the amount of rubbish I've heard over the last year is amazing.

If Suarez were to be sold then I suggest that both FSG and the board-level team at LFC would want substantially more than the figures you're pointing out as he has proven ability at all levels! Consequently it seems unlikely as most teams that could offer such sums are currently failing to get shot of excess baggage from their books and they must if they are to remain balanced within UEFA financial rules (Tevez is a good example...high wages, huge cost and a minimum two players must leave to make way for him...not going to happen at least until summer)...Oh, and the notion you can offset buys against several years is also a nonsense as it must be shown in the accounting for the year in which any transfer takes place...ask at Deloitte UK

Izain

A fiendish plot Mr Holmes...?
Good post though. I enjoyed reading that.
The Real KB

Never heard such a pile of bilge in a while...pathetic

Only if we get higuain and ozil in the deal

SHERLOCK AND JAMIE: The problem with selling Suarez is, who do you replace him with?

There is not one top striker avilable in this window that would join Liverpool espcially if they knew that Suarez was to be sold.

Currently there is no chance of Higuain, Cavani, Lavezzi, Llorente, Gomez etc

For these reasons Suarez WILL NOT be sold.

Red Otter

Talk about paranoia .....look out for the men in black boys .

Which club is bigger than Liverpool???

Oh no looks like I've been rumbled, now for my elaborate escape plan to kick into action, I'll be leaving on the private jet that is being used to bring Demba Ba back from the ACON so we can activate the 50p release clause in his contract.

Samson Rasher

You make a compelling case Mr Holmes. If I was in charge i'd be thinking about it £50-60m would be very tough to turn down. The negativity is not going away anytime soon. Sad, but true.

Arnt I right in thinking el zhar cost round the 8 million mark as in terms of his package? I seem too remember he was the most expensive 15 yr old or something like that! Eds?

Mpc {Ed002's Note - I really don't know, sorry.}

I know ElZhar was useless and grossly overpaid if that helps you!

Seeing as we signed him when he was 20, I doubt he was the most expensive teenager.

TSP {Ed001's Note - he certainly never cost anything like 8m, he was a free signing!}

I found this on the BBC seems we didn't pay much "Given Liverpool's size, history and wealth we're disappointed we haven't received compensation - 180,000 (£162,000) is 0.1% of Liverpool's turnover," St Etienne sporting director Damien Comolli told BBC Sport.

09 Jan 2012 10:42:04
Hi ''Ed's'' Just a few quick questions, forgive me if they are tiresome, as i am new to this website.

Does Comolli sound out and have control in relation to who Liverpool buy? As when i watched an early interview with John W Henry, Sky Sports, he explained that another American friend of his ''Brian or Ben Bean'', or something like that, who knew a lot more about football than Tom Werner or John Henry sounded Comolli out to him.

Also do you know if Liverpool will be exploiting any of Comolli's French connections such as Ryad Boudebouz or Marvin Martin to name a few.

As last summer, Comolli gave a interview to Sky sports and he explained that Blaise Matudi had all the statistics and attributes that Liverpool were looking for (Paraphrasing slightly), but Liverpool didn't both with a bid and Matudi went to P.S.G (i think) for less than £10 million.

Do you know why Liverpool didn't follow up their interest, did Comolli not get his own way? As i'm struggling to understand the dynamics behind the scenes with Kenny and Comolli. Just out of interest.

Thank you and cheers for any response, as i know from my brief time reading, that it gets quite busy and repetitive around these halls. {Ed002's Note - Comolli is the Director of Football and responsible for the scouting systems that will bring details on players to the management team for discussion. The final say whether or not to follow up will be Dalglish's and the finals ay over the money will be the board. Ryad Boudebouz and Marvin Martin are players not Comolli's French connections and it would be illegal for the club to approach them directly. It is not possible for us to say why the club does not always follow up previous interest in players.}

09 Jan 2012 10:40:54
Morning Ed's
Heard a small rumour that Liverpool have had advanced talks with the agent of Chiek Tiote. Whilst he has been away at the African Cup Of Nations Damien Comolli has been working hard on securing his signature, with the absence of Lucas this seems some what right. A reply would be very much appreciated

Cheers Ed's
John The Big Fat Red! {Ed002's Note - This is a most unlikely move.}

09 Jan 2012 10:24:08
Ed with Real Madrid apparently showing interest in Suarez do you think there's a genuine possibility we have seen him play his last game for us?
RNred
{Ed002's Note - Obviously there is a chance of a bid, but that is all that can reasonably be said at the moment.}

I've also heard this rumour and I've heard this is going to be a cash plus swap deal involving Mezut Ozil

Breaking News @ Close source says Podolski heading for medical tommorow. Personal terms yet to be agreed. Commoli prefer Podolski ahead of other targets. YNWA

Hope this is right but I thought he was going to Arsenal.

Hope this is true. I hope to see him in the red shirt. I really dont hope we go demba ba, he is just lucky as i see. he wasnt no treat when won 3-1. and i only think redknap telling people about the 7m buyout clause because he wanna take the focuse away from another player. Get podolski and forget Demba ba. Podolski&Suarez thats a goalmachine

Unless personnal terms were agreed there would be no medical

Why comolli prefer any player?.
surely kenny should decide who he wants to play in HIS team?.
is he not the team manager?
if not get comolli out and put the king in charge of players in/out.

paisleys slippers {Ed002's Note - Comolli is responsible for the scouting of players.}

Commoli prefers podolski ahead of other targets doesnt mean anything! Who Kenny prefers decides who we buy and by the sounds of it they don't agree on anyone.

As far as I can understand it, Commolli looks for the players, gives Kenny a dossier or 2, Kenny says 'Ok, get this lad' and Commolli goes back and thrashes out a deal in coalition with Henry or Werner's permission of a max bid.

Or am I barking up a wrong tree Eds?

TSP {Ed001's Note - it is not as simple as that, but yes, sort of, Kenny makes the final decision.}

I hope the rumour is true. we need a player like poldi's calibre. he could play as striker, or winger. with a great left foot also.

Wheres that breaking news from eh ? Stop talking s**te ffs

09 jan 2012 09:21:16
liverpool are looking into the possibility of loaning inter milan forward mauro zarate, according to the national.
however, for any deal to happen, inter would have to release zarate back to his parent club lazio because the 24-year-old is currently on a temporary contract at the san siro until june.

ed i want to know that there is a rules of fifa a player can't go to 3 club in a playing year. so if inter send him back to lazio and then we take him then we are the 3rd club and can't play for us ? am i right ? {Ed002's Note - That is correct if he has played first class games for each club (Serie A, Europe - but not if the games were friendlies or they were European pre=qualification games.}

Why get a man who has not scored in 12 games .... out of form man... please dont get him...

Form is temperary class is permanent. Whilst i dont think this will happen, i was chatting to a mate who is a red sox fan and fenway have a history of getting players who are out of form or coming back from long term injury cheaper and getting them to play well. Its not always about how much money you spend but who fits the system and will work for the team.

Loafmaster flex

Thanks for the post ed. Zarate didn't play for Lazio this year. and to the people who said Zarte out of form they must know Zarate not reguler in inter as they change the coach who start of the season. he is a good player and I am sure if he Join Liverpool then u will see he is a good player or not.

Just a question for Eds and others, how can Scholes come back mid season? Is this considered a transfer in the January window? We all have to name a numberof players in the squad so how does this work?

Iggypop {Ed002's Note - He can arrive anytime as he would count as a free agent. Same as, say, Hyypia signing.}

What ya mean Ed002 the Hyypia is signing on a free :P

Joke- before Eds get asked about it ever day till Jan '13

ed Is Malaga make a £40m offer for Suarez ? and they want to talk about it with Suarez and Liverpool. as Suarez mother ask if Possible then leave England as she think it will be hard for Suarez to take all the boos in away match. one of my South american friend told me that . as he have relative in Suarez family.

Roman-Red {Ed002's Note - Malaga would certainly be in a position, financially, to make an off to Liverpool for Suarez. Whether or not they have approached Liverpool is unknown.}

And Malaga have a Chilian coach too. ex Real Madrid Coach Pelogrini. (spelling) personaly don't want too see Suarez go. but yes he may suffer so much if any deal happen then must be £50m as Malaga is a cash rich club.

adam johnson wont be coming to lfc. man city are not going to sell him even if they buy someone else. he is part of there long term plans. we dont need him. we need players who can win us matchs. . kk is not far from getting it right but we need just that bit extra and johnson is not what we need. he is a great player but not for us at the moment. one player i would like us to go for is demsey a proven prem player and gets goals and works very hard for the team.

Oh dear lord, you want players who can win games and then you want Depmsey...??

Haha it was actually believable until u mentioned the American.

''We don't need Adam Johnson because he won't win us games with his 30 yard strikes....but we need Clint Dempsey because he's an awesome American footballer who is the best player at mighty Fulham''...

Climb back in your cage codger.

RobbehLFC.

Since when did Dempsey rocket into the category of being a little bit special? And where would he fit into the team? Maybe we're gonna sign anybody who happens to score a winner against us this season, like we previously did with Joe Cole.

Hi EDs, a lot of Hoilett rumor i am seeing in Twitter , do u know are we actually in negotiations with BRFC / put a bid / everything is just plain bulls**t ? Great site , keep up the good work

YNWA {Ed002's Note - We cannot be expected to respond to Rumours on Twitter. We simply do not have the time to sit here and do that.}

Think you need to realise, this is a rumour site! I'm sick of coming on here and seein sarcastic comments from the eds when people post RUMOURS. Especially when not one of you have got a transfer right in the last 3-4 years. I'd like to know what you would do if everyone only posted about the 1-2 players we will sign. Ed002 your attitude stinks {Ed002's Note - He did not simply post a rumour, he asked the Eds about something on Twitter. The response was not sarcastic but it reflects our position. People cannot seriously expect us to sit here and respond to eveything that appears on Twitter. Questions about Hoilett have been answered already, there is little point in repeatedly saying the same thing. You are a very long way off with your comment about the accuracy of what the editors say. Interestingly you say you are sick of visiting this site and blah, blah, blah and then, as an anonymous bootscraping, you start your usual rants against the editors. Last week you were going to expose my agenda to eveyone, but sadly you could not do that. Then you had the little fit that made you a laughing stock - it was so like your previous tearful outbursts.}

Im going to start using Twitter they seem to know more than the Ed's, I'm sorry but you know nothing about transfers, i could fill a sticker book with the amount of players you have got wrong over the years! {Ed002's Note - A sticker book eh? Bye, bye.}

With increase of twitter users that are players agents and pundits unchecked by their press agents is twitter that far fetched? Ed002 i feel u ignoreing twitter is laziness and not fully utilizeing your reaources. And on a site that depends on user content how can you constantly disrespsct your audience for asking YOU for information only to get made fun of. You dont even create anythimg here you just post information with stupid one liners attacking us or provideing us with the same evaualuation my 3 year old nephew gives on football. Keep up the good work. Ed002 you used to be great now lazy {Ed002's Note - So who writes all of the lengthy responses that appear in the round up. Twitter is an uncontrolled feed. I could open an account today and say "Confirmed Cavani joins Liverpool after successful. Neymar to follow tomorrow" and someone will then be asking me questions about it. We do not have the time or the effort to start trying to unravel such rubbish and do not appreciate people like you anonymously moaning about the editors whilst adding zero value to this site. Personally we put up with extreme filth and abuse from pestilential trolls like you who hiding anonymously on the internet have the audacity to call people like us "lazy".}

Morning Eds

Really appreciate the work you Ed's put in

Ive seen a couple of posts on Rhodes from Huddersfield, In your opinions do you think
A) we have watched him regularly?
B) Could he be worth a punt as he has good movement and certainly knows where the net is?
REDFORLIFE
{Ed002's Note - I don't know of any interest from Liverpool - Newcastle and West Ham are certainly chasing Rhodes.}

I'm glad somebody made this post...

My mate is a season ticket holder at Huddersfield Town and rekons this lad is seriously the real deal.

I rekon he's worth paying for from what I've seen.

Sometimes you can see things in players, just because he's from a lower division won't matter with the type of goals this lad is scoring.

{Ed002's Note - This was all dealt with over the summer. It is not simply the money Liverpool paid to release the players from contracts, but wages that were continued to be paid etc. so you need to go back through the archives.}

Kenny thinking of making a £4million bid for Sunderlands James McClean, a left winger who is very similar to Gareth Bale in his style of play.

Very similar to bale LMAO.. .......NOT!!
Rednose

Reminds me a lot of James Milner in both physique and style of play. Good player. Doubt Martin O'Neill would let him leave though.

-Shane.

He's only after playing his second game for sunderland man! they'd prob rip our arm off if we offered them £4 mill for this fella!

Another bout of Motd fever?

Stu.

Oh yeah and Sunderland will be happy to let him go cheap won't they? Dimwit!
