Heard a rumour from somebody who I know has contacts inside Liverpool FC that Sterling is asking for £130k per week!

Good thing Ibe and Ojo are the more talented players then really If tthat's true!

If that really is the case then maybe it's time to cash in.
There's no doubt that he's a good player, but we cannot be held to ransom by a young player who still has a lot to prove.

I wish that these young players had just half of the passion that we had for the club, and could see the bigger picture.
At the end of the day, we are just a stepping stone to other big clubs for this breed of player.

I'm with EMS ibe isn't that far behind sterling and he will be the better player.

Sterling needs to get his head out of his arse and stop being a little greedy ******* for both money and goals.

he should have set stevie up against Chelsea and everton and probably found ourselves in the league cup final and another 3 points in the league.

{Ed001's Note - I don't believe it is about greed, and it is sad that he is now being exposed to those kind of allegations purely due to an idiotic comments from the manager.}

10 Feb 2015 10:25:48
I thought the delay is nothing to with money but more to do with RS's agent leaving the Impact Sports Management to create his own company whilst taking RS and Saido Berahino with him. This has allegedly caused problems and delays as the players are already contracted to management from ISM. Of Course this might also be nonsense but it was quite widely reported. It's probably the case that both the change in management and story leaking by his agent Aidy Ward to hike up the money are partially true.

People saying Ibe is better than Sterling!get a grip, sterling was England's best performer in the World Cup, him and Coutinho have been our best players this season, Ibe did well at Derby but didn't do amazing and wasnt playing week in week out, the two at this stage are totally incomparable.Think people are getting carried away after a promising performance on Saturday.

I agree with ED001. The comments from Brendan have not helped Raheem and insinuate he was being greedy. He might as well leave his foot in his mouth permanently No-one outside the club knows what he is asking for and how far apart the club and his agent may be. let's just concentrate on supporting the player and hopefully he will sign a new contract at a sensible wage for him and the club.

CobraCraig

My judgement of ibe is from watching him since joining the club at 16, not just from Saturday night.

Ibe to me has more to his game not just relying on speed which sterling does.

Sterling being one of our best players these season doesn't really say a lot though seeing as we have been pretty crap for most of it.

Sterling is a good player but IMO if ibe has a good run in the 1st team you will see a better player.

Love that argument Cobra, best player for England at the World Cup. Just how good were England for that benchmark.

some of us have watched Ibe since he first signed "cobracraig", and I'd bet that everyone of the opinion that Ibe will be better has been following very closely. Jordan Ibe already has the attributes to trouble almost any full-back in the world; pace, strength, quick feet. Once he settles down I am 100% sure he will be better than Sterling. Right now okay Sterling is better only down to the experience though in my opinion. I want him to stay and I want Ibe and Sterling to be a big part of a successful future for us, but if Sterling won't accept a new deal it would be absolutely fine to just cash-in.

At the moment in time sterling is the best young player in England if not the world.if he was at any other big club they would pay him £130000 need to stop pinching pennies. So he did not pass to stevie against Everton did not do this against Chelsea.if Steve did not fall over last year we would have been champion if Sturridge did not miss half the seasons God knows where we would be get of his back

As much as I like sterling and hope he stays (which I think he will) I don't think he's one of the best young players in the world

People please give the boy a break. You base your opinions on him and his "greed" on what you read in the press i suppose? Well done. They are a trustworthy bunch! Ibe may very well be the most talented. What do i know. I won't argue about it. I just know that it isn't always the most talented who end up being the best. If Ibe end up becoming the better player of the two - Hurra, what a pleasure it'll be with both hopefully in the team. But give Ibe a break to, stop the compare the two and let the boy get on with it and play. They aren't the same person guys. What about Markovic? Why doesn't anybody compare Sterling and Markovic to each other? Quick young and skillfull players. There is as many similarities between them as there is between Ibe and Sterling

Being England's best player in the World Cup isn't much of a benchmark but it's more than Ibe has achieved.
He's also been voted the best young player in Europe!
You cannot even come close to comparing the two the fact Madrid are interested proves this.
I just think people are getting on Sterlings back because apparently he is stalling on a new contract.

I think his end product is so bad
People say was ronaldo as good that age no probably not but that means nothing absolutely nothing of irrelevance Sterling will never be as good as he is now so you just can't compare things like that

Well Rodgers hasn't exactly helped the situation today. someone really needs to get him a muzzle.

Amazed how he can keep those teeth so white when his mouth is so regularly filled with foot!

If he wants to leave then let him leave. We'll get a good price for him and we have Ibe who'll probably end up even better and less spoiled than Sterling is. He'll rot on the bench if he goes to either Madrid or Barca.

Sterling is a cracking player but not quite yet the finished article. He needs to make better final decisions and develop his finishing- at the moment I think he's very good but a bit overhyped by the media, and there are a few sigificantly better players already at real who will normally start ahead of him.
If his agent convinces him to move from lfc and being a regular starter to a club where he'll be lucky to get a dozen starts a season, then frankly he deserves what will happen to him.
As fickle and stupid as some lfc fans seem to be, the real fans have much higher expectations, and I heard they are already giving Bale a fair bit of stick.
He'll need an even thicker skin to put up with the flak, a tougher mind to cope with being second or third choice winger, and he'll have to raise his game to deliver the numbers of goals and top performances that the passionate Real fans expect. They want a winger who can turn a game a win a CL final against the toughest and smartest defenders in europe.
I don't think he's ready for any of that, not yet.
It'll make him and his agent a lot of money if that's the priority, but will he get a game in front of the likes of Bale, Isco and whoever else they buy in the summer?

Suarez is a perfect example of when a move may not make personal sense and Sterlings not yet good enough to nail down a starting role in Real in my opinion (which in itself says something about the gap). He'd be better served in a place like Liverpool for another couple of years at least in my opinion, let's hope he and his agent see the benefits beyond the $.

If he goes it would be a big loss so hope we'd get enough money for him (40-50m) to get another star in return like Lacazette. With Coutinho and Llalana in the side, I'd hope they use the funds for a proper striker/winger over another CAM.

Hi Ed002,
I believe many people were impressed with Ibe performance on Saturday. I hope he'll get more chances in the upcoming weeks. I know it`s probably too early to say but is it possible that Lambert, Borini and Balotelli will all move on in the summer? Origi, Sturridge, Sterling, Ibe upfront. I think one good striker replacing Mario, Ricky and Fabio would be enough. have a nice week.

Believable19 Unbelievable3

{Ed002's Note - There is clear interest in Ings. Like all clubs, everyone wants to see some youngsters coming through and Ibe is certainly one to look out for - and Ojo might prove to be better still. It is very early to be firming up summer transfer for Liverpool with the manager's position unclear. Howver, a GK, a midfield player and a forward will likely be desired.}

09 Feb 2015 13:09:44
Do you expect the club to attempt a clear out of sorts Ed? We seem to have quite a few players not contributing to the squad, either through lack of quality of managers preference. Balotelli/Lovren being the obvious pair. Gerrard already on his way and the likes of Lambert/Borini/Lucas linked with moves away.

{Ed002's Note - I have explained over and over.}
