I think one of the interesting questions this summer is going to be who do we have in the squad currently that are expensive luxuries. There is a clear list of players to ship out (Degen, Konchesky, Insua, Kyrgiakos, El Zhar, Jovanovic, Poulsen, Ngog) but then there are imponderables such as the keeper Jones, Cole, Ngog, Aurelio, Aquilani, Agger (and maybe even Skrtel & Johnson). I suspect all of the first list will leave and several of the second list too if we're to bring the wage bill down and get the best of the squad money we're spending. I've posted this before but still think we need a young CB (with some prem experience), LB, LM, RM then CF in that order. I love the speculation flying around at the moment. Bring on the transfer window!

In keeping with FSG's emphasis on winning hearts and minds, honouring the club's history and building a good relationship with the fans, it is rumoured that a representative of the fans will find a place on the board, and that the proposals for a new stadium or redevelopment of Anfield will include a consultation period in which fans will be asked to vote and/ or have their say. Evening Eds, just want to say that this is a great site, and your all doing a great job providing a great service to all us fans.
The quick question I have is this, who do you think Liverpool will sign in the summer (pretty broad question I know, if you want to only name a couple I'll be happy with that), and also who would you like to sign?
My personal choice would be Adam Johnson, but with City seeing us as rivals next year I can sort of see them just loaning him out to somewhere in his native North East, similar to Bellamy this year.

I agree with you on the 13 players. I understand it may prove difficult with Mata but we could hopefully bring Payet here. I know PSG are interested but we could have half a chance with a reasonable bid.
I didn't put unrealistic values for them, 24 million for Mata and Payet for 7 million.
With Valenica's debt problems, they'd problem snap our arm off for 24 million (27.4 million euros).

Ed, my heart wants mata or johnson and payet for the wings, sissoko for the middle, aly sissoko for LB and sakho for CB But my head says that Knowing LFC, we will go for young, downing, possibly lennon, enrigue, cahill and adam instead. Ed, would you agree mate, ino we are interested in alot of players but I think we both know we will go for more english like young who is average and enrique(i don't know why on earth at all). Would this be a realistic summer activity?
In:
Enrique (8 million) - Solid full back, decent offensively and is decent defensively and has pace.
Rolando (15 million) - Quality defender, reads the game well, strong in the air and has decent distribution
Mata (24 million) - Fantastic player, best player in la liga who doesn't play for Barcelona or Madrid, slightly unrealistic signing but If we can't bring in 1 marquee signing, then we'll never win the league.
Payet (7 million) - Good player, good cross and gets goals. Has pace and would be a good addition.
Merveaux (0) - Not seen a lot of him but from the little I've seen, he has pace, good cross but cuts inside fairly often and is injury prone.
Sissoko (15 million) - Gerrard's long term replacement. Has a fantastic engine, works very hard for the team defensively and offensively, gets goals and can track back, also he's physically very well suited to the premier league.
Wolfswinkel (10 million) - Good back up striker. He is a goal poacher and has pace.
Total (79 million)
Sell:
Konchesky (1 million) - Not good enough, simples
Agger (11 million) - Good player but simple isn't fit enough
Johnson (12 million) - Good player but we have Kelly who's better IMO and Johnson is on very high wages.
Aquliani (13 million) - Good player but has proven he's not physically able to keep up in the premier league.
Poulson (1 million) - Not good enough
Soto (1 million) - Not good enough
El Zar (0.5 million) - Not good enough
Degan (0.5 million) - Not good enough
Pacheco (4 million) - Good enough to play for us but I feel he'll be sold.
Jones - (1 million) - Not good enough and maybe a championship we take him.
Cole (3 million) - Average player who was overrated but maybe Spurs or Villa will take him for couple million
Jovanovic (2 million) - Not given fair chance but not good enough either
Maxi (2.5 million) - High wages but could get couple million for him, played well recently.
Total (52.5 million)
Net spend - 26.5 million

The scum are 1 point away from winning the league. but they are ageing team. Just read aldo's passage in the sunday paper and he has written some good points about our youth players who have come in and played and how well they will do next season.
KK should of had the job from the start but there was a pair of cowboys running the club. Roll on next season we will be right up there and other big clubs are going to struggle man utd and arsenal.

The info i have is that Young is pretty much nailed on and there is also very strong interest in Downing.
Benzema was close to signing in January but Real changed there mind. I know we are interested in signing him.
Also Adam was nearly done in Jan and i still believe the club are very interested in him.
Enrique is also pretty much done but with all the above deals things can change very quickly.
One thing i am sure of is that it will be a very interesting (good) summer.
As soon as i have any new info i will post it.

Theirs a very reliable ITK on a LFC forum I visit who is good mates with Adam Johnson. He swears that Adam wanted to join us when he left Boro, his 'people' approached the club but Rafa said no thanks. He didn't reject us, we rejected him. Apparently he can't stand Mancini, and if Roberto stays Adam might not. I also hear that the money's gone to his head and his changed a lot.

I cannot reveal who but I have a very good source at Atletico Madrid who have told me that Aguero is 95 percent sure of leaving this Summer, he said that his prefered destination is England and Liverpool, but we will have to wait and see what happens.

Liverpool has a great chase of signing Aguero. He may be expensive but he s a Liverpool supporter and great friends with Maxi. Imagine a front 3 of;

That said Liverpool also has a chance of signing Hazard. Hazard has rejected Chelsea and Real Madrid in the past because he wants regular 1st team starts. Liverpool and Arsenal are interested due to the lack of interest from other teams because of the huge interest in Alexsis Sanchez.
Ed, who would you prefer to sign? Hazard would be the better investment for the club. {Ed001's Note - out of Aguero or Hazard? There is no contest, Aguero would be better on every level. Better player who would shift incredible amounts of shirts and so would work out cheaper.}

Sylvain Marveaux (long since done, unfortunately)
Enrique, like all the left-backs Liverpool have coveted (and that includes Gareth Bale), can play as a wing-back in a 5-3-2 and supply crosses. Average crosses, in my opinion, but he's played with Carroll for long enough already.
Young is able to play in the hole as well as on the wing.
Marveaux is versatile enough to play anywhere on either side but his versatility doesn't account for his lack of quality.
Sissoko signing will upset me.
Bojan and Adam Johnson will be fantastic signings.
Dann should come, cheaper than Jones. Either would be good.

Sources have told me he is unsettled at the club due to not knowing where he stands in the squad. He reportedly had the chance to join us from Boro before he went to City, but he opted for City mainly because of the money and he thought they would be going places.
Johnson wants playing time and with the lack of competition at Anfield I can safely say he is interested in joining the club.
That's all it is at the moment, but the move has serious potential.
i would rather players who desired to play for us rather than for money etc as he chose man city instead of us because of money shows he is not worthy of the red shirt

Hi all,
DC has got his knife out, he knows we need to get this summer right if we want to challenge for the title (which is what everyone is expecting next term). FSG are willing to spend, they want the league. However they won't buying flavour of the months. I expect up to 8 signings in.
Agger, Aurelio, Cole, Jovanovic, Kyrgiakos, Insua, Ngog, Maxi, Degen, Jones, El Zhar, Darby, Ayala, Poulsen, Konchesky are all set for the chop.
We want Cahill and Jones to replace Agger and Soto. Shelvey is set to go out on loan as part of the Cahill deal.
We have spoken to Mata's reps and Young is all but done. Johnson is on standby, depending if Mancini stays and who they buy in the summer. If not, Downing is an option who Kenny rates.
Sissoko is rated by DC, but Kenny rates Adam, so I expect either one of the two to sign for CM. We do not want a DM, following the recent form of Spearing. The Matuidi comments by DC were before Spearing proved himself as a decent player.
Benzema is being lined up as Kenny wants 4 top strikers. Defoe rejected us, as well as other strikers not being available, whereas Benzema is. He has been told good things about the club from Alonso and Arbeloa who of course previously played for us.
Personal terms have been agreed with Enrique, just need to set the fee- Konchesky could go there as part of the deal.

With all the talk in the papers of kaka being used as a makeweight in the Madrid side, who better than KK to get the best out him once again, I think he would be a great option to go for, I have heard also nzogbia and Moses are on the radar.

The rumours also is that king kenny will have his contract announcement next week, I know like u said it's all formalities with that. It'll create a serious buzz for the game if it does. Aru taking a break before end of season as u know it's gonna be mental all summer with links to players. Keep up the good works ed's pleasure reading the site daily.
Fowler is god {Ed001's Note - I don't know on the Cahill link, it is conjecture because we are following Bolton closely, but no one is certain who it is. It is just a best guess situation. As for Agger, he is in serious danger of being sold, if an offer matches his valuation he will be gone.}

Lots of people doubting Adam Johnsons ability, KD could mould him into world class winger and finally solve the left sided problem. Suarez is always coming out to the left flank and Johnson likes to cut inside and attack the centre halves. I would also go for Clichy.
Need somebody on the right who can cross a ball, no point in going for Young or Aaron Lennon, not sure who fits the bill. Any suggestions ed ?
I was also hoping that we might sign Honda and Turan but these deals seem to be dead in the water. I would like to see us sign the following :-
Adam Johnson, Turan, Honda, Clichy, M'Villa, Cahill & a striker (Huntelaar or Benzema ?)
