Ed do you think they will look at cappello as the new boss? {Ed001's Note - no, they ruled out any manager who doesn't speak English last time around, that hasn't changed.}

Some would say kenny doesn't speak any english..lol

RAFA is the King get him back, Bring all good Spanish players back, RAFA gets the big players.

On a slightly related note, does the DOF have to speak english? It seems like that would be obvious, but then I was not sure about Txiki's English ability and whether this would rule him out of the running.

There's nothing wrong with his english! I think he would be a great option...

Kenny does not speak english though and he got the job {Ed016's Note - haha, I moved from the U.K to Canada and the missus from Canada can never understand anything anyone from the Liverpool team says. Also laughed when they got Carra to wish Holly luck on American idol. Probably the hardest to understand}

Strong rumour is that the King will move upstairs if we find a top managerial replacement for Kenny.
Jochim Lowe, Rafa, Martinez(wtf) are on the list.

FSG are not even giving him another year. Sad really.

Just passing a message, please don't shoot the messenger.

They way Wigan played against Newcastle is the way I dream of us playing. Martinez is clearly one of the brightest managers in the game. He should be on the shortlist.

Stolen shamelessly off of LFCreds poster.

Jochim lowe?? he has germany on his hands to focus on

Isnt Jochim Lowe rumoured to be leaving the Germany job after the euros ?

What's sad about Kenny not getting another year? We are 9th.

It's a time for tough decisions as much as we all love kenny it obvious he ain't the man for the job

Bring back raffa a great coach good tactical awareness kenny is a good manager to get to 2 finals with the players he bought jarg over inflated prices no wonder commolli was bulleted but he got it wrong with chelsea they were there for the takin n he played the wrong players

Bang bang

I want the job, give it to me

One of my mates who is a physio at Liverpool has told me it is very likely that Kenny Dalglish is going to go upstairs. Who do you think will become the next manager.

RAFA
CAPELLO
or leave kenny do another season see how he gets off then go for PEP
need big names other whys no big players no champion league and the standard liverpool fc club is the premier league chmpion league fa cup and league cup we the biggest club in england and we need to get a Big Name in quick and get the signings out the way:)

Rene Girard is a name that hasn't been mantioned much, but I think he would be a superb fit for us. Montpellier are flying high with a decent young squad, and keeping the big spenders PSG off the top spot. Admittedly it may be hard to convince him not to lead the team in the Champions League next season, but if we could do, I think he could be a great manager for us.

Your mate,s a physio and you cant get no better inside information than kenny may go

If I was FSG, I would go all out to get Mourinho!

Kenny Dalglish is staying

07 May 2012 21:09:50
Eds, do you think there is a REALISTIC chance that Marcelo Bielsa will be Liverpool Manager next season? {Ed001's Note - nope.}

Bilbao are desperate to give him a new contract and it looks like he will accept. he has not finished in building the club, the club has very bright future.

Would never happen Biesla doesn't speak a word of English.

PD6

What about an UNREALISTIC chance?

Hi ed

is there any truth in the rumour we are after Afellay or Tello from barca?
{Ed002's Note - Try the search function.}

No!no! simple

Afellay isn't yet fit and Tello is massively overrated. {Ed005's Note - How can a player Tello's age with limited match time be massivly over-rated? Unless you come and tell me you watch the Barca B team or something!}

07 May 2012 22:49:15
If Pepe wants to leave sell him and bring in Paul Robinson from Blackburn , he is a vastly experienced
goalkeeper who would come at the right priceand he
would be every bit as reliable as Pepe after the season he has had with us.
We could use the profit in this transfer deal to buy a
top class right winger to provide our forwards with quality service which would put us in a win-win situation

If and it's a big if Pepe does leave than there is only one keeper to bring in-Shay Given.A far better keeper than Robinson,it's a no brainer.

Yeah cause this theory is exactly what will get us back in the top 4, raid lower teams. Worked well when we replaced Mascherano, Alonso etc, with mid/low table junk

I agree given is miles better than robinson, reina is still top class though do not want to see him go, his season wasnt all that bad either!

Doni?

YNWA! (Adam)

As a biased Emerald Pool fan, ive always thought Shay was the man for us between the sticks but due to his fine performances & consistency with his club(s) @ those times we just never had a chance to grab him away, such a pity, as he's still doin the job @ Villa... ah well... {Ed005's Note - Who cares about Given? We have Pepe Reina.}

He is not leaving end of.

Robinson's not that good. He's not as comically bad as he used to be, but I still see Blackburn concede quite a few where I feel that Robinson could've done better. I'd rather Given as well. Or Al-Habsi, or Bogdan, or most keepers in the league actually.

Best option would be Hugo Loriss, but he may not want the move. {Ed005's Note - Compared to what we could get if Reina left, Al-Habsi or Given would just sit on our bench.}

You 2 should get together, two half wits together... you will have a whole wit.

Good back up keeper

Robinson is a terrible keeper, pepe is going nowhere. Die hard scouse fan. Shay is a good back up plan tho.

Wot about Al Habsi from wigan?

Why would they go for an old keeper, if reina does go i wouldn't mind them bringing in the great prospect smithies from huddersfield

This was a bad season for pepe
but compared to other keepers in the prem he is still one of the best.
the whole team has been dissapointing
this year and it would be daft to single out players

07 May 2012 22:30:44
any chance of kevin keegan becoming new manager

KK - that would be handy. Not much else going for it though...

He would 'LOVE IT! If we beat Utd!'

The goals would go up at both ends

I thought Keegan should have got it when Souness got it, but unfortunantly not now.

Would personally prefer lawrie mcmenemy.

07 May 2012 22:22:21
I don't think we are going after another "target-man" player. So who will it be?

I do not mind selling Suarez, because I think we could be able to replace him.. in a way

Instead of focusing our attacking-style play on one player only, we have to focus on the team. Although Suarez is one of few who makes chances, he also prevents the team play occasionally. I am not saying that Suarez isn't a fantastic player, but I am just brainstorming

Selling Suarez wouldn't be a bad move IMHO if we can use the money on promising creative players:

Matias Suarez - Luis's name brother.. quite similar to him. very promising
Belhanda - Would be an excellent addition to the team
Gaston Ramirez - Just amazing
Luuk de yong - The goal scorer we need?

Previously we have been focusing mainly on young british talents, and I think we are open for players that will benefit the team.

Just some thoughts I felt like sharing
YNWA

Matias Suarez is awful, trust me.

Matias Suarez will be 27 later this year..

Carroll is the one i'd sell over suarez but i think he should be loaned out instead.

Luis Suarez cannot be replaced at this time it's a new team and he's the inspiration of that team it needs to be built around him. If you thought that losing Alonso was bad just try and imagine losing just about the only creative player that Liverpool have at the moment and we are 9th in the bloody league.The spark of this team will be lost. It would be the dumbest piece of buisness that can be made by FSG.Might aswell sell all of our key players and let the kids play.

ChinUp

Go away you manc. Stop thinking you are a shrewd business man by selling our star man to bring in other players who we won't get. Suarez is our best player by some margin. We add to our star players not sell them.

This the only site where i see fans writing of selling suarez. He is cant be replaced. I think you believe players are exposed in a supermarket and you just pick them up. Out of all players who are willing to join lfc none is in the calibre of suarez.Suarez is in same category of messi and ronaldo.

marco derek

Not selling suarez

As much as people are criticising this post i agree. he is a somewhat greedy player and that isnt what Liverpool need at the moment. he is a one-man show which will never work with caroll. What we need is a proven goalscorer, which suarez isnt. He may have got a ton load of goals in holland but then so did afonso alves...darren bent would be ideal {Ed005's Note - I hope this post is a joke to be honest. Isn't what Liverpool need? He's exactly the type of player we need at the moment. Have you eve wondered why he fails to pass to team-mates? Because he knows himself his team-mates lack the ability to do anything with the ball. When Gerrard plays with him he always looks for the pass to Gerrard which is a testament to that. What Suarez needs is someone quality up there with him. And please, comparing him to Afonso Alves? Utterly awful thing to write.}

I was drooling when i heard they were signing suarez cause i thought of him and torres together and that's justa freightning thought......(i know what torres has done for chelsea) but for liverpool he was awesome. Nothing else to say.....we should never have sold him if you ask me.....we should have waited another 12 months then got rid....cause we were going to spend 30 mill anyway before the 50 for torres......could have been a different picture for placing this year if we had

Just got to say well done to Wigan and Roberto Martinez. Sensational finish to the season for them.

RedSG

Hard work does pay off. shame we lack there spirit

Come on What experience has he got at a big club, or in Europe none

07 May 2012 22:04:58
Hi Eds,
Great work you guys do on here, quick question.
If Kenny does decide to go up stairs do you think the board would consider Martinez of wigan? He has done a great job in his time there. He has definetly brought the best out of players like Moses, Di santos. I know he wouldn't be everyone's choice but he has EPL experience and noes how to fight in important games.
Thanks {Ed002's Note - I really don't know.}

Dalglish isn't going

Martinez will not leave wigan for liverpool, he has a project that he wishes to see through, he turned down villa for the same reason he would turn down liverpool!

I do think Martinez is a good manager but not yet ready.
We were saying the same bout Hodgson n Fulham n how great he is But that didnt work out did it?
Martinez maybe in the future. Needs to manage a club like villa/sunderland first to prove himself.

F5

I don't understand the clamour for Martinez. Wigan were dire for 2/3rds of the season. So we want to hire him for being able to make a team great for less than half a season? Okay, they play nice football, but, newsflash - so do we. We pass about just bloody brilliantly and then fluff our lines in front of goal.

In terms of cold, hard, results (again, the lack of same being why people want Kenny out), Martinez has been no better as Wigan manager than Paul Jewell or Steve Bruce. Do we want one of those as manager either?

Maybe it's because he has a nice Spanish accent like Rafa Benitez...

07 May 2012 22:01:20
Are/were LFC interested in Leroy Fer? {Ed002's Note - There was past interest, yes.}

07 May 2012 21:43:20
hi ed

heard a strong rumour that roberto martinez will be are next manager with bergiestein becoming d.o.f i fro one would love to see this happen your thoughts please. cheers

bigboo red

I personally feel that martinez would be a good man for the job because of his style of play, as long as you have someone in the dof position with previous experience at a big club who will bring in top notch players an let martinez then manage them and get them playing his style of football

07 May 2012 21:07:09
hey eds i have a few questions and i would be gratefull if you answered

1) do you think we will sign luuk de jong

2) roughly how much would he cost?

3) and finally if we got him do you think he would keep carroll out of the team or be on the bench

thanks {Ed002's Note - I think a good chance; £12.65M; no idea - players are squad players generally.}

Surely de Jong would start as first choice to make Carroll prove his worth. He had a point to prove on Saturday and looked unplayable.

How is £12.65M roughly, thats sort of precise

07 May 2012 20:59:17
Hi eds / anyone who may know

What's the situation with Marco Bueno from Mexico? I know he cameron trial and there was an issue with us signing him due to his age - but are we still in for him? Are we waiting for him to become old enough to sign or has interest faded?

On another note if Blackburn go down then I think we should look at Yakubu - proven premiership striker that will be cheap I guess...

UNiT

07 May 2012 20:58:11
any chance of dembele edd?
5gold stas {Ed002's Note - It seems unlikely but not impossible.}

07 May 2012 20:56:05
Hi Eds, what are the chances of us getting Luuk de Jong this summer?

LFC|Man {Ed002's Note - De Jong will likely make the European Championship squad this summer and will be one of those being watched by a number of clubs from Italy, Germany and England. Interest has been shown by Dortmund, Liverpool, Lille and Newcastle over recent months but any waning interest from Newcastle has now been replaced by firm interest from both Dortmund and Hamburg. It has been suggested to me that Lazio are looking to Luuk De Jong as a replacement for Tommaso Rocchi.}

If we DONT make any moves before/during the Euros then we lost our chance to sign him.

F5

If Newcastle have taken a look at him then he must be decent with their good eye for strikers lately

07 May 2012 20:53:39
What do you think the likelihood of signing Adam Johnson in the summer is? I have heard that he may be allowed to leave city for around 15mil. Would be be daft not to approach city early and try and complete a deal ASAP?

I hope so

You have to think about his wages ,city pretty much ruined it that way

What people seem to forget about Johnson is:

He'd cost too much to buy
He's on big wages
If he was a world beater he'd be playing week in week out at City
He's done less in his career than S Downing
There's talk he has a poor attitude

So why do so many people think an overpriced, overpaid, over-rated player is the answer to our prayers. We could have had him for £8m years back and decided against it. Hardly clever to pay more than double that when his career has levelled out. {Ed016's Note - There seems to be a fair amount of critisicm for Johnson. I don't think he had a great season but I think it was because he was adapting to play more of a WB than a FB.}

07 May 2012 20:52:00
younes belhanda has been linked with us of late an i have just been on sky sports website an montpellier are playing now an hes not even on the team sheet is he injured edd or do you think they have took him out now because hes for sale incase he gets injured do you reckon we will go for him edd {Ed002's Note - Read the other posts.}

He was sent off in the previous match I think.

-Shane.

Im pretty sure hes suspended for punching an opponent recently.

He was red carded and will be back

07 May 2012 20:32:30
Is there any chance of Liverpool going for Loic Remy?
as Marseille had a very poor season, Didier Deschamps is probably leaving the club at the end of the season.
{Ed002's Note - There have been no approaches to Marseille regarding Loic Remy from Liverpool but in January a third party (an agent) suggested to Marseille that there was interest from Spurs and some sort of exchange for Pavlyuchenko was proposed which was immediately dismissed. Spurs went in to discuss options for buying the player outright and Marseille said he was not for sale but they could return with a bid in the summer. Remy would perhaps be interested in a move to a leading side in the summer but Marseille have no interest in selling unless a very good offer is made.}

07 May 2012 20:16:34
I know he's a player that's been talked about ad nauseum but I really think Honda should be a realistic target. Any idea Ed if we are even interested?

Chris in Tamworth {Ed002's Note - Liverpool were very interested at one time but may have blown their chance of Honda in January 2011 when he was available for about £8M. During the mid-season in Russia, Wolfsburg and Juventus were interested in Honda but the player said he wanted to move to Spain and the 25M euro asking price put them off. Recent enquiries for the player have been from Lazio, PSG, Sevilla and Palermo and Lazio nearly signed him in January. I suspect Lazio remains the likely destination but Liverpool could revive their interest.}

07 May 2012 19:01:48
Hi ed002 i see you tell a lot of posters that you see kenny moving from liverpool which i feel is quite true aswell however i wanted to know which managers are available to take his place because its all good saying you want the manager to leave but its another getting someone to do a better job any idea ED?
lfc all day {Ed002's Note - I have no idea who it could end up being and there has already been plenty of conjecture on the subject.}

07 May 2012 20:15:20
After hearing so called Ed002's responses I have very bad feeling that its gonna be one very long & disappointing summer. Of course Ed002's words are not Gospel. But still I have respect for what Ed002 words so it concerns me very much.

-Suarez Leaving [Ed002 thinks he is defo leaving and we are likely to be looking for buyers...Believe me we are not gonna get a suitable replacement for him, Keegan, Dalglish, Rush, Fowler, Owen might have left but at that time they left the club we are in a far better position to get a suitable replacement, see Torres has left have we really replaced him.. of course not.. Suarez is a gem in our hands we have to build our team around him, of course the Evra saga was disappointing but lets leave it behind its all over, KD has to take some blame on it]

-The Managers position [ Ed002 thinks KD will leave but that means more money needed to spend on compensation and appointing anew manager, cost of changing backroom staff, Me too wants kD to step down but I hope the cost we have to bearer in appointing a new manager doesnot eat away from our transfer budget]

-Summer signings [ ED002 expects most of the signings to be made after the Euro's, well thats once again gotta make life difficult for our transfer dealings, prices would hike up, bigger clubs would get aware & interested in our targets, thus leave us to scrap for left overs,...... well Arsenal, Chelsea has already started buying young talent form abroad and some of them they are getting are relatively cheap, With City, UTD expected to be up their once gain + reinforced Arsenal & Chelsea with pressure expected from Spurs & now Newcastle could we really snatch top4 next season, I doubt it ]

-Transfer Budget [ ED002 thinks theres not a fixed budget but still thinks we won't spend much, based on who leaves... with out spending 45/60M on new players irrespective of who leave I doubt we would get quality players wrt to today's inflated prices]

The bottom line or big picture would be:
As ed002 said yeah we will be among in the mix for top 4 but we won't reach top 4.

Please do not assume I am being too negative but this is what I understand & predict from as far as ED002's knowledge is concerned.

Cheers ED002. appreciate your work... keep on bringing such good news to us..

Bosco {Ed002's Note - The reason that I don't expect most of the transfers to complete before the Euros is that the transfer window for most of Europe does not open until July 1. Unless you want players from England and Wales only?}

Dude, your gay for ed002

I think you've got yourself another fan Ed.

KT! {Ed002's Note - You have signed up for the Ed002 Appreciation Society I hope at: tinyurl.com/7fbgecd }

You have posted everything Ed002 has said but what about the other Eds? I would like to issue a thank you to Ed002 and all the other Eds for their hard work on this site which I know can be quite challenging {Ed002's Note - You are very kind. Post of the day.}

Sorry Ed but I thought that it only needed to be our transfer window that was open? Hence why anhzi tried to go in for tevez whilst their window was still open even after ours closed. Cheers

ToonRed {Ed002's Note - Dispensation is allowed at the end of the window for countries operating a shifted season (Russia, Brazil, Japan etc., but for intra European transfer it is fixed. The English window is only open at the end of the season for transfers between English clubs. Any other transfers have to wait.}

Is that your mum Ed002 ?

07 May 2012 20:10:29
mc carthy n do santo of wigan would be 2 good signings , di santo a handfull n mc carthy is classy on the ball, send henderson on loan to wigan to sweeten d deal,

Are you joking? We are Liverpool not Luton.. we need to sign quality! Not random players from relegated clubs. Paisley and Shankly would be turning in their graves!

YNWA

@sms_92

Lets look at the prices Wigan were looking for when we enquired for other players when we eventually ended up signing Henderson they wanted £20M plus Di Santo is awful most of the time and McCarthy isnt as good as what weve got defensively we're sound we need attacking players not defensive players Carlos81

Dude...Di Santo is terrible.

Di Santo is piss poor. I'll wager that Carroll scores twice as many goals next season as that wee nugget. He wasn't good enough for Chelsea and hasn't scored many this season despite being in a team that create lots of chances.

07 May 2012 20:07:49
{Ed022's note - brand new player profile on Younes Belhanda of Montpellier as promised for you LFC fans. I'm sure you're all missing me loads on this site, so this is to ease the withdrawal symptoms haha! Linked with Liverpool in recent times (unconfirmed however) and will more than likely be available. www.player-profiles.co.uk - thanks all!}

07 May 2012 19:29:39
just seen RAFA at melwood i cried omg omg let the good time roll

Need a tissue?

Oh God easy knowing it's a holiday wkend....All the numpty's are at it!!

Grow up

I dont beleive you...well...i believe you cried a lot, i jus dont believe the rest.

We're not Arsenal; "good times" are about winning leagues and cups, and two trophies in six seasons is not great.

Dalglish has been LFC manager for six full seasons, and during that time period he has won six trophies.

Can I suggest that we show our current manager a little more respect?

No phone? thought not.

No you didn't. I would love it if you did - but you didn't.

He lives in liverpool...

Funny that he looks like murinho to me

Why do people enjoy telling lies? Where did you see Rafa? In your dreams, got it.

100 per cent backing king kenny, some people need to realise that there is a reason why kenny is managing our team and rafa no longer is, I've had enough of watching benitezs long ball boring tactics, how come when people go on about replacing kenny the majority say rafa, but what about houiller, he won more than rafa, so cut the crap and get behind our king cos he is the right man for the job, one poor league season doesn't mean it needs changing, come on king kenny the true fans are with you mate

Why do you want him back?..Half the problems starts with him with money he spent on rubbish..The football he plays would put me to sleep again and also his last job how long was it to he got the sack?I have no idea why people keep going on about him..If he got the job i really think i would become a blue nose and i really dont want to do that

07 May 2012 18:53:35
hi eds... Do you know of any clubs talking to mateo kovacic? Liverpool would be fools if they not trying to get him, offer him a nice contact... I remember his agent stating epl is most likely destination... U have any info?(im afraid another huge talent will end up in manchester)

Cheers {Ed002's Note - Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, Barcelona, Real Madrid and no doubt others have an interest in Dinamo Zagreb's Kovacic. Seen to be one for the future but I suspect that if he does move any time soon he could spend time in Germany gaining experience before a move to one of the more major players in European football. In the summer, Barcelona offered up a small financial payment for Kovacic on what I understand to be an 8 year deal with the first two years contracted to Zagreb followed by a six year deal with Barcelona. This would "overcome" a number of issues with the regulations. However, two clubs have been involved in very recent and ongoing discussions with Dinamo and one has now put an offer up for consideration.}

Lfc should offer 30-40k a week and a nice signon fee for him and agent... We are not in position to get top players so we should try hard for the best raw talents.... Do u eds feel same or am i way off in fantasy land? Would love your view on it
have a great night..

Mateo is a wonderful talent, i'd love us to sign him. these are exaclty the type of players we should be looking to sign. do you think we have a chance ed's and macca? {Ed005's Note - Not sure what player you are on about mate.}

07 May 2012 18:46:52
Ed is the situation with soldado still the same? I saw he was talking about being interested in psg. I think he would be perfect for us {Ed002's Note - Nothing new - Milan and PSG remain interested in Soldado.}

07 May 2012 19:25:41
Any possibility of nene from PSG?

Isnt he nearly 30?

07 May 2012 19:02:51
Expect an announcement on Friday 18th May regarding KD and the DOF role.
BIG changes ahead !! YOZLFC

We all know there are changes to foot, owt credable to say??

And you know this HOW?????

07 May 2012 18:32:07
Eds, if Blackburn go down, which is looking likely, is there any interest from LFC for players like Hoilett or the Yak? Personally I think both players would be great signings, Yakubu is a proven goal scorer in the prem and would surely be better than signing a possible flop from a foreign league. And Hoilett is a fantastic prospect that would fit in to our squad. {Ed002's Note - There is no interest in Blackpool players I know of.}

Come on Yakubu be serious.
And I'd rather have Adam Johnson than Hoilett

Blackburn eds not blackpool :L ;)

We had Blackpool's best player last year. Enough said. RED LENIN

What is the obsession with picking over the carcasses of relegation candidates / relegated sides? If the players were that good, in the quantities suggested on here, then their teams would be above us in the league as well.

Also if the rumours about Pepe are real and he is off to Malaga in the summer, could we not be interested in Paul Robinson?

Man u fan deffo

Dont you yhink these players may have had something to do with these teams going down?????

Id take pedersson as cover ! hes delivery puts downings to shame!

Someone is taking the p@£s the Yak at Liverpool come on! he's done well for Blackburn but we need Players with pace and work hard Hoilett and Paul Robinson could be a good shout if the Pepe rumours are true but come on we shpuldnt even humour this kind of dross on here! Carlos81

07 May 2012 18:28:05
Hi Eds! Do you think Younes Belhanda could join to Liverpool this summer?
{Ed002's Note - Read the other posts please.}

07 May 2012 18:17:49
I'm sorry I love Liverpool and always will but I really feel Torres needs to come back. He is being ruined at chelski and I think he knows he made a mistake by leaving. I know people won't be happy but if he scores goals they will soon come round.

By all means he can come back - as long as he fronts the transfer fee out of his own pocket for abandoning us to the plastics.

How about trying to find the next Torres rather than living in the past?

Hes never coming back so just get over it and look to the future

Let me tell you, he is not at all interested in coming back, i can assure you all of that..

Cheers

Macca

I totally agree, I posted a similar posting a few weeks back and got slated!
If we didnt get Torres we need a natural finisher, someone to bag us 20 goals a season.

Haha, is the writer Torres himself?
He will be off to Spain very soon imo
oh, maybe Juv... Just like the Aqua deal
he went there for loan, score ~10 goals there, doing nothing special. Then, becoming another owen... what a legend!

Why wud we want a player who has only desire to win things sitting on a bench..if he wanted to be at liverpool fc,he wud still be here

People get fooled into thinking Torres is an angel because of the goals he scored when he was here.

The guy kicked up a major fuss about leaving for probably a year or so, at very least since Rafa was sacked.

The guy is a mercenary. He moved to Chelsea of all teams!

Get over him.

I guess he's like an old ex girlfriend that you were madly in love with.

You won't get over him until another one comes along.

If Carroll was scoring 20+ goals a season no one would be talking about Torres.

KKM..

I hope Torres won't come back he was cherry picking his games at the end of his liverpool time.
You don't win the league only when you shine against chelsea, arsenal and man utd.
You need to give it a constant go

Macca, Is it due to the position the club is in? or due to certain people at LFC he's not happy with the reason behind him being not at all interested in coming back? Just for nosey purposes really and might shut some people up

Interesting to hear people say 'stop living in the past' yet Kenny is managing us and many want Rafa back...

Just a few reasons

We can't afford the fee
We won't match his wages
He wanted to leave
He doesn't want to come back
Most fans feel betrayed
He's 28 and probably past his prime
He's not played consistently well for about 2 yrs
Need I go on....

Haha this is hilarious.
First off, Liverpool ruined Torres. He went to Chelsea, and recently he is showing signs of being his old self.
''If he wanted to be at Liverpool, he would still be here''. He has ambitions and wanted to win trophies, he wouldn't be able to do that at Liverpool. By that I mean he wants the chance to win the Champions League or Premiership, not the worthless Carling cup.

We have Suarez now! Enough said

How sad and disolutioned are you? oh yeah im sure sulky torres wants come back and finish 8th or 9th lol

I'd rather jay spearing play up front than that mercenary traitor, at least he will put 100 per cent in, and as for the chat ski fans who are saying the worthless cup, it's no coincidence that we have won something now he's gone also he had a great game Saturday didn't he

We could get a much better player than Torres for the price and contract he would demand

No thanks he's rubbish

" Haha this is hilarious " so was your mum last night

Hey Eds I know there is a lot of interest in Luuk De Jong as a strikers. You have mentioned in the past LFC still looking to boast their midfield. Could Siem De Jong be an option. He had a big part in Ajax winning the title and might not be a bad choice with how well Dutch player do in the EPL. What ya think Eds?

Harry the Red {Ed002's Note - I don't know of any interest.}

07 May 2012 17:52:26
hey ed's, do you think with napoli missing out on the champions league, cavani or lavezzi could be tempted? {Ed002's Note - In to what?}

Bullfighting.

Drigan

Into joining us when we are in the same position ? No. Another team that can offer them CL football ? Yes.

JP

I think he means tempted into a life of crime.

We can't offer CL either! Noel C

Tempt them to play with adam/downing/henderson. i remember poulsen was very keen to have a partnership with adam ;)

07 May 2012 17:32:38
ed do tou know if we are still interested in moussa sissoko and do you think he would be a good addition {Ed002's Note - Toulouse's Moussa Sissoko has attracted interest from Lyon, Roma, Genoa, Juventus, Liverpool and probably Napoli. Arsenal and Milan's previous interest waned over last summer. Damien Comolli let Sissoko's agent know that Liverpool see his man as the ideal long-term replacement for Steven Gerrard but for some reason Liverpool failed to make the final push in the summer. Sissoko remains available but Liverpool have yet to follow up their previous interest. Right now I would have to say Roma are most likely to get their man this summer.}

07 May 2012 17:25:35
I said last year that a good signing for us would be James Tomkins of WHU, and nothing has changed my mind,great in the air,reads the game really well and he is English and still only 23.

Alan50

Well he fits the young British transfer policy

Only problem is that he's not a good footballer.

Martin

Coates is better than Tomkins

07 May 2012 17:22:11
hi eds ! keep up your good works !

what's the chance of portos james rodriguez moving this summer ? and if he moves do we have a chance ?

collins {Ed002's Note - Bayern Munich have been looking carefully at Rodrigues and the other club showing an interest is Palermo. I would not be surprised if Manchester United had been having the player watched but they may be reluctant to pay the sort of fee Porto would be looking for. Liverpool - no, sorry.}

07 May 2012 17:36:55
Ed if kenny goes do you think there is a chance of laurent blanc or bielsa? {Ed022's Note - Perhaps.}

Blanc or bielsa or both? I really rate Laurent blanc.

Shame he an ex manc player!
Lee73

Kenny is staying
Anyway Blanc is going to Chelsea

07 May 2012 17:18:27
Re: My earlier post sorry I found it difficult to open the reply page
Not a Manc not a wind up, I mean Fletcher is a decent striker who can score goals , Hanley is a 20 year old the only mediocre player is Jarvis

About Suarez leaving comeon You all have heard that before too ED002 said something similar all along , I am not saying he will IF an acceptable offer comes in he will. Owners and Kenny are not too impressed about The Evra handshake apparently madness to see in personal opinion

AND Again all these are what I heard NO inside knowledge no sources but heard from people who I believed may have and obviously going for Jarvis doesn't mean we will not go for anyone else too

YNWA_JFT96

If we Only buy British then I woul expect Liverpool to get relegated'im afraid. I'm not saying your wrong but I can't imagine if we sign the players you have mentioned then I would expect us to sign many more especially players in the same position fro abroud who would be of the quality that we desperately need. Also de Jong probably won't create as many chances as Suarez so I think it would be very silly replacement, he might make a better partner to bemore clinical but saying that it's a bit of a gamble. I think he decent but hardly the world class striker lfc require

07 May 2012 17:15:22
Eds, do you think the owners could look at Frank de Boer as the replacement for Kenny? {Ed002's Note - I really don't think de Boer would be available.}

07 May 2012 16:58:07
Ed, about newcastle here...

I know they sold Carroll, but they weren't really spending much before that were they? So do they actually have the money to spend or? {Ed022's Note - Yes they do, but not very much compared to other clubs. Ashley is a very very smart guy, and will always try and get his moneys worth.}

But the fans if i'm correct started to hate him because he wouldn't invest? So surely he'd need to sell to buy?

We still have £20million from the Carrol transfer in the kitty and the club has been selling out home games plus I think we are the most televised team and of course in the top 5 and the club is in the black.What makes you state NUFC have to sell?

Is there any chance Ashley will expand the sportsdirect policy to the football club and have a one day 90% off sale on Papisse Cisse?

TAYPOT

If he was so smart previously why did Newcastle spend a pile and still get relegated.

07 May 2012 16:46:14
apparently liverpool are back in to try and sign darren bent... great just what we need another overated english player...

What are you on about Bent scores goals. However I'd rather go for Danny Graham

As the eds would say its just a recycled story for caughtoffside the most unreliable website known to man..

LFCHero :)!

Averaged about 10 goals a season for last 8 seasons or so. I'd be happy to welcome him to lfc. Also if he does come that doesn't mean we can't get another striker as well especially if Suarez goes. Stop pissing and moaning and just and see who comes your gonna give your self an aneurism befor the new season starts if you stress about every rumour and that's all it is. A rumour calm down pall.

Eric the red

I think you mean to say 'English talent'!

Adam

No i meant to say what i said, and he averages 12 goals a season, thats not good enough we need a striker that can score 15+ to get remotley close to top four, he will cost a huge amoint and he is not worth that he will cost as much as soldado would and he scores 25+ a season, overated english crap football player!

Let's hope it is just an old rumour that is being recycled because I agree with the comment above, he would cost more than what a player like soldado would cost, more overpriced british $h!t in my opinion!

Danny Graham funniest thing Ive heard all afternoon.

The funny thing is, if he did come and was banging in 20+ goals for us you lot would say you've always been fans of the guy

I was being sarcastic...

Adam

He scores goals mate what more do you want??

07 May 2012 16:39:03
All these posts asking if we're going to sign any players from Wolves or other teams that will eventually be relegated are starting to turn my gears. Do some people actually believe signing these players is going to improve us ? We need GOOD players not another bunch of Adam's in the making.

JP

True but as I said earlier there are talks about Kenny wanting Matt Jarvis Fletcher quite seriously, also Grant Hanley from BB but that is different at least he is young

My thoughts entirely! i'm sure there is an old japanese proverb that 'a big fish from a small pond does not grow when he swims into the sea' ...or something.

Well thats why i hope Kenny stands down (To the top commenter), i dont like seeing the abuse thrown his way the way it is but as i said i hope he does stand down rather than be pushed as i respect the guy but i think we need something different.

JP

Yeah good point that, Gareth Bale, Tim Cahill, Ashley Young, Joe Hart. All proven for top 4 teams without anybody ever having to take a risk on them...

Are you trying to imply that Aston Villa are a top 4 team ? Or even Everton for that matter ? As that's who Young and Cahill flourished at, Villa signed him from Watford before you say anything else.

Bale didn't become the player he has until last year, by which time Spurs had sounded out clubs to sell him on for only £4 million after already having him around for a good amount of time.

Joe Hart i agree with, but nothing else you've said there.

JP

Since Charlie Adam got injured our season went down the pan!! Slate him all you like....bet you slated Carroll before saturday! The problem with Carroll is Dalglish (too defensive) and Charlie Adam shouldn't have to pass the ball to Gerrard everytime he gets it!

You really think that ? Adam can't pass a ball 5 yards, his 'hollywood' balls come from him hoofing and hoping, the only good pass i've seen him play all season long is the ball to Johnson when he scored against Chelsea earlier in the season.

Why don't you go and take a look at his set-pieces - Something he's supposed to be an expert of, the club have probably needed to hire a few panel beaters to knock the dents out of the rafters at Anfield from his 'set-pieces'.

The problem with Carroll is that he needed time to fit in and find his feet and his own behaviour off the field didn't help, hopefully now he'll push on.

Watch the games every once in a while and atleast leave a name to your post if you're going to criticise mine.

JP {Ed005's Note - I loved that second paragraph lol.}

07 May 2012 16:35:02
Could you humour me Ed002 .......
Davey Liver {Ed002's Note - It has been covered ad nauseum today and it is not worth the grief of opening it up again. Sorry.}

07 May 2012 16:20:03
Reports suggest Arsenal have now signed Yann M'Vila, heard anything eds? He was previously a target or there was speculation linking him with us so i thought i'd ask.
Great signing if true. We need to act fast.

Cheers {Ed002's Note - If he has agreed to sign it is no more than expected.}

Apparently we paid almost same amount for downing and henderson! what a waste!

07 May 2012 16:10:10
hey eds wat are the chances of us landing younes belhanda? {Ed002's Note - There is interest from confirmed interest in Belhanda from Bayern Munich, Arsenal and PSG and there is unconfirmed interest from Liverpool, Inter and Roma. The player wishes a move to Germany with Bayern Munich or Dortmund or to play for PSG if Germany is not possible. So a chance but don't hold your breath.}

07 May 2012 16:07:53
that horrible Man Utd manager has got what he wanted , suarez is a world class player who with the right players around him would carry the team to glory , there is no one in the world like him , and to get rid of him to replace him with mediocre players is very bad for the future , its like letting rushie go for some one like heskey it just does not make any sense , i will be realy gutted if he goes , and it would show to the rest of the world class players that liverpool is not a top club anymore , these new owners are starting to sound like the other 2 yonks , if they sell suarez for the money then weres all this money they say they have , it will show that the owners dont have no money and no long term ideas for our club , it will show kenny up for what he is , an over rated sweaty sock who believe henderson and downing are the best thing since sliced bread , i would love a reply of you to let me know weather this is just a rumour or is it a fact that suarez will be sold ,cheers eds ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,mickey b {Ed002's Note - I think most of this is well wide of the mark.}

Think hendo is more of a baguette than sliced bread. It takes longer to prepare having to cut it and all that but they taste great when theyr done. Calm down. Good things take time.

Eric the red

You really shouldn't be using your mummy's computer when she is not home mate, you might get grounded.

I was agreeing with this up until the point where you labelled King Kenny as a 'sweaty sock'. Also, if you expect people to take you seriously, you might want to learn how to use a full stop.

I do agree though about Suarez. I think he was stitched up by that lot in Manchester, and I believe he is world class, one of a kind, irreplaceable. Our loss will be much to the gain of PSG, Inter, Barca, or wherever he goes. I think selling our best player will be a big big step back.

Hopefully, the owners will give him another season. He has been pretty well behaved since his ban.

Adam

Oi! leave off heskey.

You fool the owners have done nothing wrong its the idiots they left to spend the dough.

07 May 2012 16:25:15
Hey

I know you've said you think there's a good chance of Luuk De Jong signing and Suarez leaving, but what would you say is the better chance of happening? I think losing Suarez is a bad move for us, because I doubt we will sign a player of the same calibre to replace. {Ed022's Note - I'd personally say there's more chance of signing Luuk De Jong. Suarez will only be sold if the right offer comes in.}

Suarez is well better than De Jong

Lets be fair though ED002, every player at every club in the world will sell if the right offer comes in for any of their players.....Ronaldo 80m, Kaka 50m, Zidane in 2001 @ 45m, my belief is we should only sell if we can guarantee that we get a player in, of equal ability.......In other words, if Barca were offered 250m for Messi, the likelihood is they would accept, but who the hell would be an acceptable replacement for him.....we have sold Xabi, Masch, Hyppia, and never replaced them , the board needs to realise this, its all very well selling to boost the balance but at what cost. The reason we are where we are is for this very reason.......If Kenny is to move upstairs then I think Rafa, with a board who will support his ideas will get us back to where he had us for most of his time when he was here, I don't care what he did or didn't do at Inter, it was always gonna be a poisoned chalice following what the Jose did the previous yr, he knows the club, the traditions and what we expect, he still lives in the area, so the board should at least listen to his ideas and targets should he bein the running to be appointed.....Suarez should be kept unless the boy wants out himself.....thats my view!!

07 May 2012 15:56:54
if we sold suarez it would send out the wrong message , we need to keep world class players , not get rid of them eds , i have not been on the site for a couple of days , so im reading about suarez getting sold , i would sell downing , henderson adam and carrol before a player who has more skill in his left highbrow than these 4 players put together ,,,,,,,,,mickey b

Keep Henderson he will mature into a better player. Carroll is just hitting form. And Downing is still one of the best wingers in the league. Ok though maybe sell Adam

07 May 2012 15:25:17
I am of the thinking i dont think Kenny has done enough this season, i thought an FA cup win would have saved him, but i think he will be ousted for a new manager in the summer, personally my number one pick would be Laudrup.
if Kenny is given time then i will support my club as always, but if we do go for a new manager that will be our third boss in as many years, thats what worries me and we have probably taken a step further away from our goals every time, so it will be a difficult choice for Liverpool to make, although Kenny has not done himself any favours in sticking with players who are clearly not good enough or out of form, so im wondering is Kenny ruthless enough to manage Liverpool and make tough decisions with regards to players, he seems like a very nice positive boss and sticks up for his players to the end which is great but i just dont think he has the heart to tell players they are not good enough for Liverpool, thats my biggest worry and still i dont see the plan of how we are supposed to play where is the threat in our style of play? next season i still see us turning up and hoping for a bit of magic from Suarez and Gerrard.
cobra

I supported liverpool for more than 22 years from the time of Paisley. I predicted the downfall of Liverpool when Dalglish was manager the first time. Dalglish did well in the first years as manager because he had the backbone of the team from thr time of Paisley. The fiest players he bought were recommended by Paisley. He then got rid of Bob because he thought he could do it on his own and started buying rubbish players. He continued to stick with the old guard and failed to freshen up the squad with the right caliber of players. Refreshed he went to Blackburn and buildt a decent side with the money of Jack Walker but did not have the bottle to carry on and step aside. I love him as a player and he is a great ambassidor of the club but he is not up for the job. KK has to leave.

In his last term as manager Kenny tapped quite a few players on the shoulder and let them know that their time was up. Shouldn't be any different now.

To all you moaning fans. becareful what you wish for,#

when they get rid of kenny. luis, andy.
it wll take another couple of years to get anywhere near top 4,

which ever manager comes in , you miserable lot will destroy him and the players jut like you have all seaon.

god help them with fans like us lot,

chrissy

It doesn't matter how many managers we have had in whatever length of time. I love Kenny he was a legend as a player and he was succesful in his first tenure as manager. The fact of the matter we are talking about is that Kenny has took Liverpool in the league this season to depths we wouldnt dared have imagined, his reputation has taken a battering and i think he should be removed before he does anymore damage. The league form especially at home has been disgraceful and he should go its as simple as that. Carlos81

Like I've said, you see the back of Kenny, you'll see the back of Suarez Singred

Singred, absolute tosh ! as for a coupe of years away from top 4, dalglish has made sure of that himself, we need a fresh young manager with modern ideas

What we need is a manager with the experience of winning the league with at least two teams, anyone come to mind? apart from KK? A manager 'ruthless' enough to sell half of his 'team mates' within 2 years of becoming the manager, telling them they were no longer good enough, just after winning the league again! anyone come to mind apart from KK? Theres a reason he is held in the esteem that he is, usually by people who have supported this club for 30 years or more, other managers have come and gone, he's always been known as/will always be 'King' Kenny. In KK i trust

07 May 2012 15:22:27
Just wondering... if KK does leave and ambrovich doesnt keep di Matteo, wouldnt di Matteo make a good new liverpool manger

Is that some kind of Merseyside skin disease?

Puzzled

Don't think he'll have the heart for Liverpool...

07 May 2012 15:02:01
I've had the distinct impression that Kenny's departure has been decided and agreed upon by all parties for some time. As befitting a club legend, he has been given public endorsement and will be allowed the appearance of leaving on his own terms for the good of the team etc etc. FSG have had issues in this regard with the manager of the Red Sox in the past and I personally think they are going to great lengths to be diplomatic and beneficent in their dealings at Liverpool (ie. Camolli's leaving for 'personal reasons' despite the 'full support' of coach and club blah blah) to avoid any such situation arising again, but Kenny will go.

07 May 2012 14:52:49
Ed do you know which players are likely to go and who's interested in them? {Ed002's Note - Try the search function.}

I think luke dejong elm and bent

07 May 2012 14:46:31
Hi eds if luuk de jong does move to lfc do you think he would play well and suit the prem? {Ed002's Note - I think he would fit right in.}

07 May 2012 14:42:04
Dempsey has scored 23 goals this season and he plays in midfield and only sometimesupfront. Any lfc interest? {Ed002's Note - I am told that Dempsey will come up for sale there will certainly be interest from Arsenal, Everton, Spurs and a couple of German sides. Age and cost has to be a consideration of course.}

I'd take Dempsey anyday he is a proven goalsvorer

07 May 2012 14:33:52
hi eds, if blackburn lose tonight they defo get relegated. Do you reckon any players will want to leave because of that and do you reckon lfc have any interest in any blackburn players? {Ed002's Note - None that I am aware of.}

Yeah Grant Hanley is a done deal

Last year every 1 on here wanted scott dann maybe his name will come up again as he,s a local lad

07 May 2012 14:33:49
Eds why is the club trying to sell suarez and caroll are the owner not aware that suarez are fan icon they are the one not doing their home work then {Ed002's Note - You need to read the other posts and use the search function.}

07 May 2012 14:28:16
Ed,my source said Gaston Ramirez deal will hopefully be tied up this week.
{Ed002's Note - To Napoli or Juventus?}

Juventus

Is there no chance of us getting Gaston Ramirez then Eds?
CH {Ed002's Note - As I have said previously Gaston Ramirez has been watched by Liverpool but I still remain unsure as to how strong the interest is from the club but would not be at all surprised if a push was made to sign him. He was available in January for about 15M euro plus a signing on fee - but Liverpool did not follow up on their initial enquiry. However, Ramirez will move in the summer with interest being shown by Napoli, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, Palermo and Juventus, who have made a firm offer. Unsubstantiated rumours suggest Manchester United, Manchester City, Spurs, Barcelona, Chelsea and Real Madrid are also interested. Sevilla were interested but I understand that Ramirez has no interest in such a move. At present, Napoli are very much favourites for his signature. Discussions have now taken place between Bologna and Napoli - adding to discussions that have taken place with Juventus. Whilst Napoli are very much favourites for his signature at this time we cannot rule out Bayern Munich and Liverpool. My understanding is that his recent words from his agent about an offer from an "important" EPL club having been made has been clarified to say that he had been misquoted and that an offer is being prepared to be submitted by an EPL club. So he is not saying that he was wrong just misquoted and the offer is on its way - which I guess makes more sense. He also said he had spoken with a "significant" German team - which I assume to Bayern Munich but it remains clear if he contacted them or they contacted him. His final statement was that Bologna would not make any decision on the future of the player until the season is over - which sort of implies that Bologna have forced him in to all of this. So as before, don't rule out Napoli, Liverpool or Bayern Munich.}

Likely to go to Napoli or Real, depending on whether his countryman Cavani stays at Napoli or goes to Real...as Real are interested in both

07 May 2012 14:23:20
Eds wat are the chances of suarez staying because if he leave fans will be very piss more {Ed002's Note - I think there is a good chance he will leave.}

If we keep selling our best player how we going to win things? if we sell him that going back for me i dont think we will ever win the prem

If Suarez is sold i thing that will open the floodgates for other players (one might say are worth keeping) such as Reina will leave also, i agree that if we continue down the road of selling our best players (Torres, Meireles et al) to teams of a similar stature when a player doesn't necessarily want to move on it sends out the wrong message and we will certainly end up as just another mid table mediocre outfit who dont win leagues and dont get ionto the CL Carlos81

I know i'll be very piss more

I get that yopu will be very piss more but im not so sure you will piss very much more than me if this happens

07 May 2012 13:23:13
Eds do we have any interest in Kevin Mirrallas. can play on both wings.
cheers {Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware.}

Been playing fifa12 have we?

Another FIFA scout.

07 May 2012 13:18:16
Got a bit of news! Not an ITK just been heard this I things is likely to be correct
First Kenny is gonna stay, he has convinced Henry that there is progress and Henry doesn't want to spend another fortune to get Kenny out and get a new manager

Luis Suarez will leave he really wants to stay but Kenny and owners now decided to cash in, there have been talks with PSG Roma with his agent depends on the price, and IF he leaves there may be a relatively big name-No lot a Cavani or Falcao at best a Soldado or a Luuk De Jong

Kenny is trying to build a British squad in the long term and will for sure go for Grant Hanley,Matt Jarvis and Stephan Feltcher

Heard there is a chance of Kenny going for Marc Albrighton as he is fed up of Downing

YNWA_JFT96

And we will get relegated next season!

Muha u gota luv the optimism on here! Did you not watch the fa cup final? Or maybe try catching john henry on the street and ask him his side of things. Silence is the worst thing you can hope for when your deeply wishing kenny will stay, he will be removed from his post. Fantastic player i have respect for him thats why i dont insult or abuse but awful manager 2 nd time round, 9th in the league?? Unbelievable! RedTurk

I really hope your right British players are defiently needed. Hope Dalglish stays. Not sure of Suarez rumour

How can you call having the worst season in the league since 1952, progress, we have dropped 30 points at Anfield this season, granted we have a trophy, but a second divsion side took us to pens and we were lucky to win, if John Henry doesnt act, then i seriously would question his ambition. If Rafa got sacked after finishing 7th then Kenny has no excuses for finishing 8th, 9th.

Grant Hanley, Matt Jarvis & Stephen Fletcher - God how depressing! We will sink even further if we were to lose a genuine world class talent & brought those kind of players in. If the FA Cup final showed us nothing else, it showed us we need to up the quality level of the squad. The quality of the squad from the 2009 season when we finished 2nd has decreased massively - you only need to look at our midfield to see that. If we want to get back to the top of Domestic & European football - we seriously need to set our sights on high quality players. I'm not saying it will he easy due to our poor finishing position in the PL & the fact we're not in the CL but we at least need to try for players of top quality players who will improve our team. Hope you are wrong in your information - suppose we'll just have to wait and see though. Bex :)

If this is true then we are doomed!

If that isnt a squad fit for relegation I don't know what is, seriously fletcher, Hanley and ,well , who cares less. if this is all we have to look forward to then I'm giving my season ticket up.

What a load of tripe if we sell our best player kenny stays and we build a british team we may as well rename ourselves Norwich City...what a disgrace...if anyone believes any of this rubbish then feel free to go and support someone else.

B****cks obviously a manc no way would Kenny ever get rid of Suarez and bring in someone who isnt of his standard, and Jarvis, Fletcher, Hanley, seriously you can do better than that!?
Cam

Drinking on a bank holiday have we!

Great we're destined for a mid table finish next year then.

You sound like a Manc to me mate.

Papa G

Wait....so we are going to sell suarez (an irreplaceable player) and bring in one guy and a bunch of players from the relegated teams and a team that prob should have been relegated....

oh and we haven't learnt anything because they are british so they are nice and overpriced (like the downing that he is fed up with and looked better than all these guys when he was at a smaller club like them)

Ouch.......

So what ur saying is that KK wants to ruin the club then? Cos lets be honest, we tried
British and it ain't worked and never will work. A majority British team will never be as successful as multi national teams. Look at real Madrid, man city, man utd, barcelona, chelsea, arsenal, Newcastle, spurs to name a few.

I for one don't care if kenny stays but hope u r wrong with the rest of ur proof!

If we end up with kenny staying thats fine but if we hanley,jarvis and fletcher aswell, i won't be best pleased at all.....if indeed kenny is our manager next season he really needs to sign better players than this

I hope you're wrong.

Not sure what part of that was the hardest part to read - Suarez leaving, Henry convonced there is progress (seriously?) or the 'building a british squad'. if Euro's/World Cup teaches us anything, its that there arent enough good british players to win anything. dont believe me? watch the Olympics.

if our biggest summer signings are Fletcher or Jarvis, I will stop using this site, as the rumours on here just build our hopes up of signing serious world-class players, only to have those dreams shattered by incredibly average and overpriced brits.

Hope you are wrong , because if your correct we are fecked.

Jarvis and fletcher would be another downing all over again.

LAVERS

Surely on the wind up?

How can suarez be sold when theres talk of contact extensions already going on, the club want to build around carroll and suarez not plow £££ every season and buy players that dont perform. The future looks bright, who knows maybe andy carroll will start scoring more if he is taken to the eruo's.

You said it at the start mate your not in the know, so stop pretending to be.

If Kenny stays, and has the intention of building 'a British squad for the long term', I will eat my own thumbs.

Adam

I think Kenny should be given another season. But the rest that you wrote is a recipe for relegation.

ChinUp

Not wanting to "shoot the messenger", nor do I disbelieve what you may have heard or been told, but on face value - attempting to build a "British" based team didn't fair us that well this season did it?

Kenny may stay, he may go - I don't know (personally I'd like him to stay), the only minor issue I have with Kenny is his substitutions and the timing of them ...afterall, I'm sure Kenny's final words to the team aren't make sure you hit the woodwork instead of the net.

Selling Suarez would simply increase the notion that we are, and will remain an average team. Suarez IF sold would only be so because the real funds aren't there to buy unless we sell - stands to reason he is our most sellable asset.

Furthermore, whilst we are told the "two" are seperate entities, etc. the Boston Redsox's are having a disastrous season (with no improvement on the horizon), so I'm sure their fans will be expecting and demanding players (expensive players), be brought in next season ... it could impact on us.

Guys wake up, the poster can hardly type english and you are getting wound up, it's a load of b**l

Cmom get real,why would you sell one of your best players without his 17 GOALS
we really would be in the brown stuff,as
for the three british players you mention
there worse than the one's we bought
last summer,YNWA JFT96 were do you think
we'll finish with those players in the team
and no SUAREZ........most def.not CL.....

If Suarez leaves over this whole Evra affair then I want the owners out. They need to grow up and move past it, we all have and so do they. It's really annoying me this talk.

I was believing it until you said grant hanley

2 quick questions Eds:

1. I know player swaps are rare...but do you think management will be trying to arrange a swap deal to bring in Jose Enrique from the 1st half of the season in exchange for Jose Enrique of the 2nd half of the season.....would be great if they could pull it off.

2. In relation to Luuk De Jong. I know during the Jan window the info was that we were looking to bring him in the summer, but would bring him in January if interest from others forced our hand to act then. I know you've always been pretty confident of us being able to land him....but do you think that with the (rumoured) increase in the interest in him from many other clubs that it might now be quite difficult for us to be the ones to land him, and in hindsight we maybe should have acted sooner?

Cheers
MD4 {Ed002's Note - 2. Yes, they should have made the move in January.}

I'm pretty sure de Jong himself told us to come back in the summer as he dident want to move with the euros so close

Ed do we still hold an interest in Esteban Granero, could be a perfect partner for Lucas and very cheap at around 5m, also he is only 24!! Perfect option surely? {Ed002's Note - Granero is surplus to long-term requirements in Madrid and will likely leave the summer. Granero could interest any number of clubs and may be used as a makeweight in a transfer. Only solid interest at this time has been from Blackburn Rovers and Sevilla back in January but unsubstantiated rumours have linked him to Liverpool and Espanyol as well but there is no confirmation of either clubs interest and everything has been quiet since.}

I have got it in good faith that Hoilett WILL be our 1st signing once the season ends ,its a cash plus player...not sure what player is going though....my source also told me well in advance that Peinarr would return to Everton well in advance. KK will be here next season although its a must improve in th PL .............but do you guys/gals know before fenway sports group come in we was ONE DAY AWAY from adminstration,yes ONE DAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!

Hoilett is out of contract in the summer. Why would we do a player plus cash deal. Obviously just blagging here mate

Considering he's out of contract, that would be stupid, it may be a case of paying the compen and Blackburn buying someone like Spearing as a separate transfer

He's out of contract- whoever gets him gets him free

Hoillet is available on a free so i dont see why we would be offering a player to blackburn as well as money as he will no longer be there player. So i wouldnt listen to your mate too much if i were you sunshine.
Willster :)

I hope not that we'll pay Blackburn and give them a player when Hoiletts contract is up this summer! Seems rather unlikely if you ask me!

Cash plus player? thought he was out of contract and therefore free......

Cant help but feel we're getting ripped off considering Hoilett is supposedly out of contract in the summer...

YNWA! (Adam)

Hope that the rumour that Dalglish will be here next season is true. Not sure about Hoilett

I put the posting on, we all know he is out of contract but he is wanted by other clubs also...I said first signing not first buy...there is another player goingthe other way as a sweetner

He is on a free and numerous clubs are chasing him....liverpool are giving blackburn compo and player before his contrct runs out

Why would we need to give Blackburn a "sweetner" when Hoilett will be free to negotiate with who he likes at the end of the season? This makes no sense whatsoever? This story is all BS. {Ed002's Note - He will not be Blackburn's to sell - as you say, BS.}

You said cash plus player therefor cash = buying

The one thing your forgetting is that hoilett has already decided what club to join! I'm of the same thinking as ed 1 in that hes opted to join spurs!!

Eds why do you let people post total rubbish like this that they have just made up on here? You know as well as anyone that Hoillet is out of contract, so you can tell this guy is just making stuff up, and yet it gets onto the page. Is it just so everyone can pick on him? If so fair enough because he deserves it, just wondering though... {Ed002's Note - If you want I will stop publishing all posts unless I know them to be true and will ask the other Eds to do the same.}

Who are the other options?tanx {Ed002's Note - We don't know who all the options are.}

Liverpool have made a provisional £3.5mil bid for Blackburns Grant Hanley as a long term replacement for Jamie Carragher. Blackburn havent made a decision, as they will wait until the end of the season before deciding. Although Spurs and Newcastle are also interested. If one of those were to qualify for Champions league, it well may be that he would rather join them instead.

Red Skip

Highly unlikely, Coates would take Carraghers role

Why would we want him.
Why not local lad Scott Dann

Hanley is shocking

Everyone will be staying far away from Blackburn centre backs

Spurs looked to have wrapped up vertonghan

He's going to Utd

I hear Rafa is coming back'

Fantastic! Bye-bye Kenny, Luis, Carroll; hello zonal marking, defensive play and the likes of El Zhar, Voronin (shudder!) Singred

Or you could have Alonso, Mascherano, Torres, Arbeloa, Agger, Skrtel, Reina, Lucas?
{Ed002's Note - If you don't put spaces after commas we will have to delete the posts in the future.}

Hello, Champions league football, and players like Reina, Arbeloa, Agger, Skrtel, Mascherano, Alonso, Kuyt, Torres. And good bye to s**te like Adam, Henderson, Downing.

That would be the zonal marking and defensive play that won us the champions league.....the last 2 seasons have been our lowest scoring yet under benitez we scored 20-30 more per season....that sounds really defensive play

If you believe that Rafa would have signed Voronin over Suarez then you are fantastically mistaken.

And as far as zonal marking goes, do you know who uses zonal marking? Every single team that plays at a high level. Barcelona. Real Madrid. United. Chelsea. Arsenal etc. etc. Zonal marking is the most effective way of defending from set pieces. Man marking is used by lesser teams whose players have not the requisite intelligence to use zonal. Stop listening to everything the TV pundits tell you and think for yourself.

TSP

Let's hope there's little left at the club of the dressing room that he 'completely lost' at the end of his last tenure!

Kenny is staying so everyone should shut up! If Rafa was the manager this season then we would be even lower about 11th. Kenny is defo the right man to take us forward. Do you really want to go back to nearly the whole team being foreign. Plus why would we want Torres when we've got Carroll

Actually the top teams use a combination of zonal and man marking. 3 players mark up zonally on the six yard box (this is for a corner) and the others pick up the runners. This way the ball will not be allowed to bounce inside the box and the runners wont have a straight run unoppossed onto goal. Very effective.
KiwiRed

Whats wrong with team being foreign ? they would do better than the present home grown dross

The whole team being foreign? Because England are doing so well..

Rafas tactical sense and ability to setup a team to beat any team in Europe, coupled with Kennys man management skills would be the dream team for me. DOF and/or manager doesnt matter which way round. Rafa and Kenny without money equals top 4. Rafa and Kenny with money equals winners!

'You could have Alonso, Mascherano, Torres, Arbeloa...'
Oh you mean they are coming back to play for us?! I doubt so, since he drove Alonso away, Masch & Torres refused to play for us and jumped ship, Arbeloa was homesick... or you mean with Rafa we'll get Llorente, Munian, Cavani, Lavezzi? Sure, let him try... Singred

"Who need torres when we have Carroll" haha Grant Holt is better than Carroll and don't tell me he was amazing even Babel has had great cameos...Singred is a wonderful poster cowardly naming 2 free transfers amongst a great deal of great transfers, whilst Kenny has spent 120m on worse players

Didnt rafa sign Josemi, Morientes, González, Babel, Pennant, Itandje, Paletta, Dossena and Aquilani my point being every manager makes flops so don't dwell on them...but in my personal opinion i never wanna see rafa in charge again

"Kenny has spent 120mil on worse players" nameless poster - the 120mil spent included Carroll and Suarez. Would call them our worse players? Singred

Is this the same Rafa that made his name by taking over other people's teams and claiming them as his own when they won. He took over Hector Cuper's Valencia and won La Liga against Barcelona and Real Madrid teams that were in transition.

He won the CL in 2005 with Houllier's team + Alonso (who he signed and then later drove out of the club), but lost in 2007 with a stronger squad against a weaker AC Milan side with his defensive, negative tactics.

Then when on the verge of taking us to a 1st EPL title he went into rant mode, lost all initiative, refused to buy an adequate stand-in for Torres and came in second. The following season he led us to a triumphant 7th in the league with ALL of the collection of superstars that were previously mentioned by the rose-tinted glasses brigade.

You'll notice that I chose not to go down the road of trotting out lists of the pub league standard players that he also signed because everyone knows who they are. Nor did I mention the fact that for every good signing gained, Benitez also burdened us with 10 booby prizes. FACT!

Having been asked to get his coat and leave, he joined Inter - the CL holders and winners of the double in Italy, and he did his best to relegate them the following season.

He lasted less than 6 months and has been unemployed since then. Except for the odd appearance on Soccer A.M.

Is this the same Rafa Benitez that you are all talking about?

Robbie's Noseband.

I am sure the rafa i rememba took us 2 istanbull and came bck with a champions league...signed players like alonso arbeloa torres ohh and almost got us our 1st premier league trophy

I think everyone forgets that if Rafa had been backed properly with funds, our squad would be so much better

He missed out on Alves, Vidic, Bale, Silva, Nasri, Villa, Aguero, Jovetic, hell i could go on and on, all because he wasn't backed properly

Singred, you're an armchair fan and i can tell

Dan

Defensive? All those clean sheets? All those goals and 50+ goal difference at the end of the season

Has Bas Dost been looked at? He's class. He must be an option with that kind of a goalscoring record!

Lfc Fan in Holland {Ed002's Note - Liverpool have not at this time shown an interest.}

He has also not made the Dutch Euro 2012 squad...

Along with Van Wolfswinkel..

hi eds

could you please tell me if the owners had already planned for kenny to go at around christmas time , after all the trouble with suarez.over evra.
because i think our sesaon started to go wrong since then.

i will be very angry if thats the real reason.
because i think kenny as looked really down since then.
what do you think ed.,.

chrissy {Ed002's Note - Everything will be figured out at the end of the season.}

Henry is a disgrace for not offering his hand to Dalglish. Fsg out

Kenny backs fsg. Now cop on to yourself and do the same..

07 May 2012 10:54:27
Hi eds, I was watching the Blackpool v Birmingham game the other night and I noticed how well Stephen dobbie played. Do you know of any interest in him because I think he could make a great squad player and would also be cheap. {Ed002's Note - I don't, sorry.}

Eds what about ince, he looked good but do you think he would be good enough? {Ed023's Note - It is irrelevant to Liverpool if Ince becomes good or not. The lad was sold, is enjoying his time with Blackpool and I doubt very much he will leave anytime soon.}

The world has gone mad! Dobbie? Ed 002 how can you simply dismiss this rumour? I demand you spend the rest of the day finding out the likelihood of him joining while I walk down to the training ground to see if he is doing a tour of the facilities.

Dirks Engine Room

Dobbie wasn't good enough for Swansea.....you think he would make it at Liverpool....wtf

Not good enough for swansea not good enough for us

You have to be F******* kidding!

Do you see... Man Utd, Arsenal, Man City signing him?

07 May 2012 10:44:08
Ed's, do you think with Kenny potentially leaving (or stepping aside) it will have an impact on Suarez's future? I know some of you are of the opinion that Suarez could leave as the decision of the owners due to the negativity over the Evra issue but he has said he'll consider his future if Kenny were to leave or get sacked. {Ed002's Note - You have probably stumbled over the wrong Ed to ask as I have said from day one that I personally expect both will move on this summer. There is plenty of interest in Suarez as well.}

I appreciate what you are saying Ed and I know you've said this all along! Just one more question, do you think then that should Suarez leave, it'll be a decision taken by the hierarchy rather than a manager? Ian Ayre, on SSN, welcomed the news Suarez 'wants' to sign a new contract so would this come from the owners?
Is this your opinion Ed002 or is this something you've heard/know from the inside? Thanks. {Ed002's Note - I really don't want to open all of this up again.}

The reason Ed002 keeps saying this is because he is convinced our sponsors and owners do not want Suarez displaying their logo etc, but as I said in a post which, for whatever reason, has not been put on this site Suarez is all over standard chartered website.
Further more the owners should kno that if we were to sell him this window the fans will think we would basically be conceeding defeat to the mancs over the evra thing and whisky nose in particular would love it!
Sick of this subject now but the last thing I will say is that Suarez deserves his shirt our support and more, we will always regret it if he goes and in my opinion if you want him or Kenny gone you're no Liverpool fan!

Benzo {Ed002's Note - I have never said anything about the sponsor' logo and Suarez. What I have done is shared information regarding the matter that has proven to be a very significant issue for the owners and the board which for some reason you seem unable to accept.}

Kenny and Suarez are both staying

So if it's not about him wearing their logo colours etc then why do they not want him here? Obviously it caused major issues a long time ago which if you care to notice is history now and certainly not a worldwide marketing issue for the club hence his image being everywhere on our website and standards website!
My problem is not u sharing your info and opinion on it in fact I commend your efforts but you seem unwilling to accept that fan power will have more than a little to do with this one, the suggestion of him leaving is bad enough for most fans but if it is known that he is being sold over the t**ting evra crap they wont have it at all!

Benzo {Ed002's Note - Well the fans turned on me when I said Dalglish was not the right choice and would likely be gone this summer - and now pretty much to a man want him out. And now you seem to be suggesting that fans cannot tolerate a player being sold without their approval. I cannot see the owners would give two hoots over that - they have evidence enough in how kowtowing to the fans to employ Dalglish worked out. Whilst everybody understands the commitment of the fans, sometimes they perhaps cannot see what is best for the team because they are looking back and not forwards through their red tinted specs. The owners want what is best for the club and they want to protect their investment. After 18 months of doing it the fan's way we see the league results degrading game-on-game and the time has come for taking the bull by the balls and doing something to put the club in a position where it can move forward.}

I think Suarez is untouchable. Ed is trying to be a smartass. There will be a riot if they sell him because that will mean succumbing to Red Nose's demands. Only from that they CANNOT sell him. {Ed002's Note - You need to make your threats directly toward the owners to make sure they take note.}

Fair enough Ed I suppose H&G left me with little confidence in owners decisions from afar!
Still tho I do think is Luis does go we will watch him become one of the worlds best and that will be a shame!

Benzo {Ed002's Note - There is no doubt that Suarez is a great player but since the arbitration fiasco with Groningen he seems to have gotten a habit of making his own life difficult. The owners that Liverpool have owners who are responsible and I am certain want to do what is right. I think they have come to understand and respect teh traditions of the club, but it is an investment, there have been mistakes and missed targets and there is not a bottomless pit of money there. You have the Europa League to look forward to you next year and once clear of the games against the Albanian runners up and the Turkmenistani Milk Cup winners, the chances of some excellent European nights.}

Gosh dang it, my fav player is gonna leave Liverpool :'(.

07 May 2012 10:01:33
Hi eds ,Am i right in saying that when lucas was playing in south america he played not as a defensive mid but as a box to box attacking mid and won south american player awards in this position ? ,bearing this in mind and the rumour that De Jong is leaving city in the summer would it not be worth putting a bid in for him or another def mid ,The all round mid we are looking for maybe right under our noses ! ant {Ed002's Note - Lucas played further forward prior to joining Liverpool. De Jong will not be joining Liverpool.}

Have you never seen Lucas attacking? He is dreadful. His shots on goal invariably trouble the fans behind the goal more than the goalie!?
He is a Def mid and no more.
5uarezTimes

Could you please clarify this for me ed2. at 8:53 this morning you answered a post stating that there still remains a good chance of luuk de jong signing, however at 10:01 you say de jong will not {Ed002's Note - The post at 10:01 was about Nigel De Jong.}

This is our problem...he was a central attacking midfielder at Gremio who we have tried to turn into a defensive midfielder...he was not a goal scorer but a passer doing a lot of lead up work...he was the heartbeat of that team

07 May 2012 09:48:14
Hey eds I live in Australia and I don't think I quite understand how the transfers work over there. Could you please clarify if it is the manager or DOF who gets the final say on which players come in? {Ed002's Note - It varies club by club. In the case of Liverpool the management team will decide on targets and scouts will report on them. A decision will then be made to take a closer look at the players. Clubs will typically informally ask an agent (a) if the player is going to be available, and (b) would the player consider a move to the club. If the answer is yes, it is then necessary for the club to approach the player's club to ask if they would be willing to sell and if they would grant permission to speak to a player's agent and possibly even the player. The process at Liverpool would require a case to me made to the board to agree the financial aspects and get approval to proceed. The club will then typically agree a deal with the player's club (through an offer) or actually agreeing a fee and responsibility for any significant costs (agents fees etc.). Once this has happened the club will be able to speak to the player's agent and perhaps the player himself to look at the package that will be involved. So many players are looked at and discussed at a high-level with agents and clubs; a subset of those have an offer placed; a subset of those involve discussions with the player's club; a subset of those involve discussions over terms, and; a subset of those go ahead.}.

Cheers Ed

Ed002 now that the fa cup has gone and the season is virtually over, do you think at the end of the season kenny will go either upstairs or leave totally?just a yes or no would be great {Ed002's Note - It is very difficult to give a "yes" or "no" answer to a question including an "or". I remain of teh opinion he will not be in charge of teh team for next season.}

Kenny should move upstairs and we should bring back benitez

I think henrys no handshake for kenny painted a picture on what is going to happen

Henry is a disgrace

Kenny will be manager next season. tom werner has already said as much, but then what does he know hes only the chairman. ed 02 knows more than him. have the bottle to put this on 02 {Ed002's Note - I imagine you parents would have preferred the damp patch to the anonymous troll they got.}

07 May 2012 09:05:13
I was reading a piece on dortmund by rafa honigstein, and he mentioned that a possible replacement for barrios was luuk de jong. Does anyone know if they have shown any real interest?

Thanks,
Ryan
YNWA {Ed002's Note - Dortmund are indeed looking at De Jong - as are Lazio.}

07 May 2012 08:59:14
Liverpools new signings over summer; amero, Isla, sissoko, Ramirez, Phillips, elm, de Jong and Rhodes. These players players will more than happy sign and will not break the bank. Promote a few of the reserves and we could have a squad to challenge for the top 4 again. Hopefully the likes of Adam, Henderson, downing and Carroll will push on with better players around them and a different system in place

07 May 2012 08:54:23
Eds what are the percentages on us signing these few players. I need to know whether to get excited or not.
Gaston Ramirez
Rasmus Elm
Luuk De Jong
Junior Hoilett
Robert Lewandowski
Jackson Martinez
Adam Johnson {Ed002's Note - I am not getting in to percentages but most are possible options. Liverpool have a long term interest in the likes of De Jong and have certainly looked at Elm. Lewandowski is less likely. Ramirez may be an option, as may Martinez. I don't know that Hoilett is though.}

Adam Johnson yes all the rest no

07 May 2012 08:53:53
Eds is it true
1.we are looking to loan jack robinson to villa and are looking at pablo armero as back-up to LB ?
2. also what are our chances of signing Luuk de jong (i mean is he interested in joining us)?
3. also who are being looked at for RW apart from matt phillips although i would take him all day long
4. and finally do you expect any of maxi, kuyt, doni, jones, aurelio, spearing, cole, aquilani to be with us next season as I fell these are the players need to be sold and replaced by a ST,RW,CM,LB {Ed002's Note - (1) AC Milan have shown a great deal of interest in Armero but there is also some interest from Liverpool, Spurs, Juventus and Fiorentina. There may soon be interest from another London club. (2) I have been telling you of the interest in Luuk De Jong since last summer and there remains a good chance he will join. (3) I think options remain open. (4) Yes.}

07 May 2012 07:18:56
Ed do Liverpool have any chance on dries Mertens, he has been absolutely amazing this season, exactly what we need! {Ed002's Note - I don't see Mertens moving to LIverpool - if he moves I suspect it may well be to Bayern Munich.}

I doubt he will move to bayern as they have robben ribery shaqiri coming and muller. No real place for him unless ribery to be sold? {Ed002's Note - Bayern are actively looking for a wide player and are making enquiries of Mertens, Hoilett and Gaston Ramirez.}

Fair enough ed02 I just hate it when clubs with enough probably west wing quality just sign more and more, they certainly don't need it, give the rest of us a chance {Ed002's Note - Until the last few days Robben was expected to leave and it is certainly not out of the question that Ribery could leave with interest being shown in him.}

How about dusan tadic? ed022 has a good comment on him

{Ed002's Note - Schalke have already a replacement for Farfan in hand by signing Chinedu Obasi on loan and were looking to Groningen's Dusan Tadic for next season although that situation has changed with Farfan signing a new deal. Interest in Tadic is also being shown by Roma, who had a bid turned down in January, Hamburg and Borussia Monchengladbach. However, Twente looks to me to be is most likely destination.}

07 May 2012 07:14:06
Ian ayre and john henry batted away questions about kenny dalglish's position after the fa cup defeat and remained silent. Now for anyone thinking kenny is going to stay, think again.RedTurk {Ed016's Note - I would say anything is possible. I know that NESV are pretty brutal when it comes to gaining success and if they need to fire someone they will.}

Being from the united states and a big baseball fan aswell, they fired Terry francona who won 2 world seris for them in a Span of 3 years. He was fired because he failed to make the playoffs last season despite being one win away from making the playoffs. So yes kenny will be fired :'(

Yes me too ed and they had every chance to clear up any rumours about kenny's position and they remained silence, reminds me of when hodgson was sacked they gave him full support until he was removed. I believe they would make a big mistake not to employ rafa benitez who is the safest bet right now, as he knows this club and the players, anyone else would be a big gamble and we simply cannot afford to gamble, rafa is proven himself enough at liverpool and deserves his 2nd chance.RedTurk

Kenny is the worst manager ive ever seen. 9th in the table after spending all that money i hope he is sacked soon.

They never fire King Kenny. They know there would be major unrest if they did. Kenny isvthevgreatestbplayer to ever put on a red shirt and you Ed obvious don't know that or the way Liverpool fans (true ones, the majority) feel about Kenny. YNWA {Ed022's Note - For you to generalise 'true fans' into a certain category of loving Kenny as manager is simply untrue. Don't be a muppet. If you think he should stay good on you, but don't drag in an Ed in your squabbles.}

Oh dear, Bank Holiday means schools are off. Roll on Tuesday and hopefully some more mature and RESPECTFUL comments.

"Kenny is the worst manager ive ever seen. 9th in the table after spending all that money i hope he is sacked soon."

What kind of statement is that! From somebody who needs to grow up a bit.
Ok Kenny has made some mistakes but he is still a fantastic manager and a fantastic servant and legend for LFC and if you were old enough you would know that.
Now dont forget to get your mum to check behind your ears.

Why all the tit for tat? Makes everyone look like children. Kenny will move on and rightly so, it hasn't worked for him which is a shame. He should walk away with his reputation and health in tact. I think the club means so much to him he doesn't see the wood for the trees. Would you rather another season with no progress? Certainly the clubs owners do not as pointed out by others, so they will be looking for a manager elsewhere, imo.

Andy Npton

I will never forgive fsg if Kenny goes

Look Kenny has won 1 out of 3 trophies in his first full season. It would have been two if it wasn't for a very poor decision. You all need a reality check

I dont understand what the big issue over kenny staying or going is. Doesn't he only have 1yr left? Wasn't he specifically brought in to be a stop gap or a temp fix for 2yrs? Its not like was going to be a long term manager.

I agree with everyone that the table pos doesn't show well but all things consider what we hit the post 32 or more times we had the best defense in the league until Agger was hurt, Took a huge step down in class from Lucas to Spearing, it was a hard season. Also it took Man City almost 2yrs with their star players to gel.

Everyone needs to relax. I'm from the US and support the Cubs baseball team who hasn't won the World Series in over 100yrs. Everything is a cycle

The King will always be the King. He will always be loved, and I would bow down to my knee's and kiss is feet in thanks. BUT its a myth about him being a great manager. In his first spell he inherited a great side, by the time Souness took over we were buying the likes of David Speedie, Glen hysen and the team was ageing. At Blackburn he bought the title, Newcastle he failed, Celtic he failed, and he is failing now. So please Kenny step down now because although a myth, its a myth we all want to keep. Long live the King, just not as the manager

Do u think there is a chance of Torres rejoining . The thought of Gerrard , Saurez and Torres makes my mouth water. Torres and Gerrard were unstaoppable in their link up play. PS: Also thought Enrique and Spearing were woeful in the FA Cup loss ....we need backup in those positions {Ed016's Note - He's going to be 29 next year, get over it, he is way past his prime}

Torres roflmao still hung up on the leaver....
seems lame even discusting hes return, id have to see it before i believe it.

Is this love for Torres going to keep going, he's gone, he's all washed up, he's getting older, he's not coming back. Look to the future

Torres is 29, but why are we being linked
to CLINT DEMPSEY who is also.......29

Yes the same age as clint dempsey doesnt stop the eds saying we are interested in him tho does it

Maybe the difference is the prices each would be available for?

BREAKING NEWS: Torres might be handing in transfer request, guillem ballague just said

Eds - Do you think that we would benefit from moving Dalglish upstairs, I think he loves the club so much that he gets too defensive about us like a protective father. I also think he is struggling to accept that the club isnt (at the moment) a major player in the EPL and Europe.

Maybe we would benefit from somebody without emotional ties who could look at us without rose tinted spectacles.

Billericay Red {Ed016's Note - I think Kenny will know if he isn't the man to take Liverpool forward and he will let go.}

Emotional ties isnt the problem. The players understand what the club means to him. Its the inept signings and tactics

Hi Eds, if Kenny is to be replaced as Manager then surely Frank De Boer must be a great shout.
Won the title at Ajax twice in the space of 18 months. Previously was involved in their youth set up ( we know what happened in the Nex Gen!). Also played for Barcelona, so will be ingrained with their philosophies and culture. Probably knows Tixi Bergstein too I imagine after his time at the Nou Camp. Lastly, coming from the Dutch League would know quite a few of our supposed targets well (Elm, De Jong, etc) and would also know Suarez. To me he ticks All Boxes, is a proven winner, played at the highest level and at just 41, the right age that Fenway are supposingly looking at. What does everyone think? {Ed016's Note - If he brings Erickson and Vertoghan then I would welcome him with open arms}

Frank de Boer is my favorit for the seat, incase kenne decides or is asked to step down, but i want johan cruyff along for the ride.

Frank De Boer surely must be high on the list if Kenny was to step down

Red Fred {Ed002's Note - Wrong Frank Fred.}

Ed.........are u suggesting a certain Mr Rijkaard is the one high on the list then? Odds of 25-1 on that at the moment. Wouldn't be keen on Rijkaard myself.
Leffeman {Ed002's Note - Not at all. I was simply pointing out that Fred had erred in his post which I deleted.}

Good shout

What's the chances of Luuk de Jong, Younes Belhanda and Matt Phillips joining?

07 May 2012 00:22:59
Ed, jan vertonghan, were we or are we interested in the player? I ask because van der vaart has come out and said he is close to signing for spurs? {Ed005's Note - I'm not sure however Spurs are interestedsd so perhaps he is close to signing.}

Eds, you say the decision on the manager will be made/ announced at the end of the season.
Do you mean right after the swansea game or one/ two weeks after the last game? {Ed016's Note - Expect an announcement probably a week after the swansea game}

How about DOF? {Ed016's Note - It should all take place around the same time, however at the end of the season everyone is entitled to a break, so things could drag out for a month, but I am sure everything will be in place before the Euro's kick off}

I agree with Ed here, the owners will do the business early, to give the new manager time with the squad

Eds, Is there any chance of an announcement over Kenny's future tomorrow so he gets a send off in the last home game of the season? {Ed002's Note - I have absolutely no idea but would guess not.}

Just been out with Damien Comolli's assistant who told me DOF post already filled and its KD to continue with culture and philosophy of the club. this only to be announced at the end of season to minimise disruption they wanted comolli to stay till end of season but he opted to go. No decision on new manager yet but Fenway have spoken to Rafa and Rijkaard informally about taking over. others in consideration are Dechamps, Conte and steve clark the person should be able to work with Dalglish very closely. Key transfare targets are all foreign as FSG say no real value in british players at the moment. key targets are Ramirez, Elm, Cissokho, Payet, Bangoura, Gueye and Tiote Dalglish would like to promote from with in so the likes of Stirling Suso Wisdom Coardy and Shelvy to get a chance esp in pre season.ed what do you think about this {Ed016's Note - Well Kenny has said that he will be talking about his future with the owners end of season. I think yes we probably have more than enough "home grown" I am having a hard time seeing Rafa make a return, Although with good money he could win the title, I have little doubt in his tactical ability. I havent yet heard any specific names so I can not confirm any targets}

Rafa is all about being tactical, maybe his philosophy is a bit sit back and counter attack though

Bring in a finisher , a wide muan, someone creative in the middle of the park. Have Rafa back and will shall rise again. YNWA

I would take Rafa back before frank Rijkaard... {Ed016's Note - I don't care about the tactics as long as they bring the 3 points. Rafa had a great zonal marking set up that took a few months to be accepted in Liverpool, it lead to one of our greatest defensive years, with many records broken. Brilliant as his tactics are, from what has been said about him, his man management is not brilliant. I would think it would be great if he came back, but he also wants to be involved with every aspect of the club and the new owners seem to like the divisions.}

You went out with comolli`s assistant and your posting on a rumours website. yer right.

Perhaps the Kenny with Rafa has legs in it then.....Kenny to put an arm around the poor £80k a week players while Rafa sets out teams that get results. Good shout ed re zonal marking - for all the slating it got from Sky Sports et al, we had the best defence in the Prem for about 4 years!

We had one of the best defensive records unde Rafa because he set his whole team out to be defensive. It wasn't due to zonal marking (which so often resulted in very soft goals which could have easily been defended by man to man marking). I hope zonal marking never comes back!!

Come on rafa to come back!

How old is Rafa now! What's all the talk of getting 'a young manager' in. Can't see him coming back.

Who is Comolli's assistant and why does he currently need one?

I agree with the point about Rafa being definitely sub-standard when it comes to man-management. However, his tactics and his results went decidedly south after Pako Ayesteran and Paco Herrerra left the club. Makes you wonder who the real tactical geniuses were.

He almost won the premiership after they left

After todays game in which he has not played, Alberto Aquilani has made 23,5 appearances for AC Milan this season.
With just one game remaining he won't reach the 25 apps which would secure a move to Milan.
So he is expected to return to Anfield at the end of the season.

Cheers
Farbe

Exactly what Juventus did last season? I remember saying on here last season that Juventus would rather Pirlo on a free transfer and people laughed saying Aquilani was basically a done deal... Why loan him out again and make the same mistake, absolute joke of a transfer, should never have bought him in the first place, all because Benitez wanted Gareth Barry instead of Alonso, what an idiot.

Rocky

I agree with Rocky. This is the ugly side of football personified. A stubborn manager who has to make up for his error by committing an even bigger one. Milan were never going to sign this guy and played him just enough so as not to have to buy. I saw him play a few games for them and he looked out of shape each time. Shocking really!

Canadian Fan {Ed016's Note - The worst piece of footballing business in history. How he was ever going to fill Xabi's boots is beyond me}

You don't have a clue Rocky Bullwinkle.

He wasn't all that bad with Milan this season. After having actually watched a few games, hes done pretty well and shall be preferred to the likes of Henderson and Adam any day of the year. He has some tricky, innovative passes in him. Anyway, time shall tell if he stays or goes. I'd personally want him to have a go in a Red shirt (why not? when some really poor players have had theirs recently)

We will have to take a huge loss on him. I hope the scout who recommended him to Rafa is hanging his head. It was obvious he would never adapt to the premier league, even at roma he spent much of his time with the physio. I think Arsenal decided he was too fragile for the premier league and gave up their interest.

Long Live The Lion King

We should never deal with an Italian club again {Ed002's Note - But that would mean no Cavani and Lavezzi?}

Don't start them off again Ed lol

Appearances are not counted in halves so if he has 23.5 games he actually has 24 appearances. he is 100% not coming back to LFC coz HE does not want to play for the club {Ed002's Note - The appearances were calculated based on starts (one point), substitute appearances (half point) less a half point if substituted before x minutes.}

Pick out a game were aqua was our worst player? Never he came back from injury got6-7 assists and we gave um away were he has done fine hes still an amazing player better than adam hendo shelvey we need to keep him we sold raul and payed the price

We're looking at Peter Lovenkrands on a free!

ed do you know joao moutinho will move this summer or whos interested. cheers ed {Ed022's Note - Yes he will probably move, and I think there's a fair bit of interest in him. Can't think off the top of my head at this hour though!}

He would be expensive though
