Hi eds,
I know you must be fed up of all the salah talk I was just wondering where the player would prefer to play if/when he leaves?
Also one more thing the mirror I think we're reporting interest in valbuena? Is there any truth to this at all?
Thanks

Believable1 Unbelievable10

{Ed001's Note - he usually plays as a wide forward/right winger, that seems to be his preference. It is the Mirror, they are the least accurate of all the tabloids.}

Almost the least :)

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I suppose it depends on whether you count the Metro or not, as that is the only one that is less accurate. The Mirror really are that bad.}

Hi Eds, hope ye are all well, Ed001 is there any hope at all of a bid going in for the legend that is Ronaldinho, have been reading that he can leave Mineiro for free in summer, apart from wages he would be a class act with suarez, cheers and happy 2014 to all

Believable4 Unbelievable18

{Ed001's Note - no, he is not good enough any more.}

He's better than salah

Agree7 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - if you really think that an extremely overweight and past it Ronaldinho is better than Salah, then you are extremely ignorant.}

I read there was/is mean't to be a big push for him to go to the U.S (NY, I think) and play, but that was a while ago that I read that.

He's going to Besiktas in Turkey

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd like to see a poll on that ed001, would be a few ignorant people around the world

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I totally agree, there are a lot of very ignorant people in this world.....}

Hi Eds, just wondering in your opinion do you think we may have a look at Menez as his contract appears to be running close to 6 months.

Believable2 Unbelievable14

{Ed002's Note - No. If he leaves it will be to Italy I would think.}

Not huge transfer news but I believe that we are tracking a goalkeeper from non league Nuneaton Town his name is Kelle Roos a former dutch youth player? Sunderland, Everton and Cardiff also taking a look u heard anything ed?

Believable2 Unbelievable14

{Ed002's Note - Sorry Bosco, no.}

This is my local team who I had a season ticket for for 5 years. Chris in tamworths local rivals. He was signed against the managers wishes & was put in the team by those above him. He's been getting absolute rave reviews. I've not actually been this season even though they're doing the best they have in years

Agree0 Disagree0

He has been excellent this season and I heard that Everton had watched him but I didn't actually believe it

Hi ed's,
Few small updates that I have been given.

There is a lot of interest in Jordan Ibe from football league clubs.dont be suprised to see a loan deal, especially if we get Salah (or a player in a similar position).

Should Derby gain promotion this season. expect negotiations to take place regarding making Andre Wisdom's loan permanent. I'm told that Wisdom isn't satisfied with the opportunities he has had at Anfield and would seek a move in the summer with Derby being an obvious choice given how well he has done there.

Also.Conor Coady to Sheff Utd may become permanent most likely in the summer but not out of the question in January. Watch this space.

Cheers

Believable28 Unbelievable35

Ibe is in my opinion the better long term bet than Sterling. He seems more suited to the rough & tumble of the Prem than is Sterling and seems to have more of a physical presence generally. We should loan him to a quality club. What we mustn't do is sell him. Other youngsters who I feel have a big big future at Anfield (along with Ibe ) are Seyi Ojo, Teixeira & Trickett-Smith.

Agree2 Disagree0

Would be a big loss to lose Ibe IMO - I see more potential in him than sterling.

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope coady leaves united my mates lad was being frozen out by wier and left on loan

If Liverpool don't bring in players this january, then ibe could, and should, get playing time. Some posters believe that suso should have made appearances for the reds this season, and I agree. Surely it is productive for our young players to get regular playing time, but, at the moment, we lack depth.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jack Straw you do know that suso is on loan to almeria in the liga bbva, he's not just sitting in the reserves

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm a big fan of loaning out players. I think they learn a lot more from playing at this level than featuring in reserve matches vs other reserves and simply training with 1st teamers. I know Liverpool have lacked a little depth after a few injuries in places, but overall having loaned out several players I think they'll have gained a lot more from playing 20+ games in strong competition than covering for 3 games for Liverpool's injuries. It's much better for our future.

I believe Coady will be kept one more season in the hope that he reaches Championship quality rather than league 1. This way the academy will receive a fee plus add-ons.

Hi ED are we still pursuing Diego Capel?

Believable4 Unbelievable31

{Ed002's Note - No.}

Good morning Eds. Several reports this morning saying that because we've not played Moses as much as they would of liked it will go against us in any Betrand deal.

Surely the 2 are not linked? Rubbish right?

Believable9 Unbelievable15

{Ed001's Note - the 2 deals are not relevant.}

Hi ed, are we actually interested in Bertrand?do you think a deal would be possible and are thee any alternatives we are looking at for the left back spot?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Try the search function.}

Well Moses has been a waste of a salary to date and I'm not over bothered about Bertram, if the chavs want to get all pissy about it then I'm not going to lose sleep about it, they are welcome to have Moses sit on their bench instead.

As the Salah transfer saga rumbles on (Basle believe that because of all the clubs that are interested they can command a figure nearer the €20 mill mark) and with LFC refusing to go anywhere near that mark Liverpool have been looking at alternatives should a deal not materialize.
One such option I read could be Ola John. Having joined Benfica in 2012 he has struggled to command a regular first team place and the Dutch international wants playing time to cement his place in the Dutch national team.
Ajax are favourites to sign the player but should the Salah deal not pan out the was LFC wants it too then Ola John is seen as a suitable alternative and a move will be made to try to sign the player.

Can't hold down a first team place in the benfica team but we're after him? Doesn't sound believable to me really, where did you hear this from?

have to say when Liverpool go in for a player the other team really play hard ball and add a few million on but if its a case of Liverpool willing to pay 9m and them wanting double that amount its hard to see a compremise, I know salah played well against spurs and chelsea but he is untried at this level over a period of time and nobody knows how he will react to playing for a club that 1 r 2 bad games and even the media get on your back straight away, no for me 9m is more than enough sort out the full back area, centre mid imo.

Agree5 Disagree1

Slightly disappointed that we are going for Ola John, not good enough to start for Benfica in a weak league, don't see how he will make us a better team. I kind of hope that Ajax really push for him so we don't end up with another dud winger.

"Talks with Liverpool are ongoing. They want him. But they need an agreement with Basel." Salah's agent!
According to reports in Russia, Zenit are ready to pay FC Basel £12million for 21-year-old Salah - almost double the amount Liverpool are prepared to pay. Are you joking? If that's the truth I'm gunna go nuts, if u want a top player then pay what he's worth or don't bother! Salah for 6m? C'mon! Even 9m is a steal for him.

Believable63 Unbelievable23

I have no idea of the facts but I agree we should pay £10 million plus if it gets us Salah as he looks very good and it would seem would really fit our style and cause more menace that lesser teams will struggle to contain

Agree0 Disagree0

So what? I personally would rather trust fsg and Rogers and not pay over the top get out bid i.e Mickey, sigurdson, Dempsey, willian, just look at sturridge and couts! £20 million combined and worth at least 3 times that now. Studge has got 12 goals and has been out for two months! Keep the club stable and all those who moan bout a "few" million well.?. if it was your millions you would spend it wisely I'm sure. br and fsg are a breathe of fresh air I loving this season!

Btw also did boston Red Sox 'not' win the major league again for second time in 5 years a little while ago?! These guys have come in and saved us and invested sensibly! Ie no 20-35 million signings of average/comoli stat type players! And we are a force, Luis on a new contract and looking to invest!
Come on you red men!!

If this is indeed the case it is extremely frustrating and disappointing. Who in their right mind rates Joe Allen at 15, Borini at 12, Aspas at 7, 5 - and then Salah at 6!? It is pretty obvious who's the most talented of those. Stop saying 'we rate him at blah blah', it's the selling club that rates the player and if we are serious about acquiring him, we should not lowball. If we don't have the funds we shouldn't be wasting time for everybody involved.

Agree1 Disagree2

I don't think 20 million is over the odds especially when we paid 15 million for Allen I say jus pay it and getaway quality player

Agree1 Disagree3

I think everyone is getting a bit carried away here, and worrying about this way too much. As Loosyboy says, we are trying to be a bit more careful with funds, and trying to get the best deal we can. It is the this sort of tactic that ensures that the club can buy two or three players instead of one. I would love to have Salah at the club, but if we don't get him it isn't a nightmare. The squad we have at the moment is playing well enough to push for that top 4 spot, and Sterling is certainly impressing now he has had a run of consistent games. Just let Rodger, Ayre, and FSG get on with their business and I am sure we will all be praising them come the end of the month.

Agree2 Disagree0

Let's just disregard which player, in this case Salah, that we're talking about. The knee jerk reaction from posters seems to be that he's a new face so pay whatever they ask for him. People are casually now saying "if it takes £20 million then pay it". We allegedly got out bid for Willian at over £30 million and posters on here moaned about it. After watching Willian in action I can't see he's worth that much. Bankrupting the club by paying whatever price is asked for a player might just not be all that good a plan.

Agree4 Disagree0

I bet the people on here badgering on about just spending whatever it takes to get Salah will be the first ones on here to rip into him if he doesn't score on his debut. Have faith and see what happens, Rogers obviously wants the best he can get without being held ransom on the price and I respect that.

It's commendable that some of you defend how business is conducted at the club. However, you cannot ignore the fact that we've made some huge mistakes in signing overpriced underachievers ever since FSG took over. Yes, we hit the jackpot with Suarez, but remember we took quite a gamble on him paying some £25m for a player who was nowhere near as dominant in the Dutch league as he is in the PL. Coutinho was also a gamble since he wasn't playing regularly at Inter and was very much unproven (quite frankly, he still is since he's nowhere near the level now that he was the first six months). Sturridge was a £12m gamble since he had never proven himself worthy as a starter to a top club. He's turned out great, yet injuryprone. All other FSG signings have been ranging from poor to average, most being poor. Point is, when we have the chance to sign someone who's regarded as one of Europe's brightest attacking talents, we should be all over it and £15m doesn't seem unfair. Unless of course we want to be known as takers of Tottenham's sloppy leftovers (Gylfi).

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - You need to register.}

Ummm if we don't get Salah we don't get him, we'll move on to another player. LFC should not be held to ransom on it. As for FSG signing then why don't we just look at BR's signing.
Borini - struggled with injury, on loan but still has a future at LFC. Looks bright in a team bottom of the league.

Allen - Injuries. Fought back and in the team now. Him and Henderson look good together and able to express himself more when not having to cover Gerrards aging body.

Aspas - let's judge him next season.

Coutinho - Class

Sturridge - Class

Mingolet - Looked good enough, again will improve once we stop getting injuries at the back and having to change back 4 every week.

To many people judge to early. All you calling Allen a flop where the same people calling Lucas and Henderson useless. Muppets.

Agree3 Disagree0

@redphil
Yes, Lucas and Henderson are useless and so is Allen. Winning the league with them will be the same as winning the CL with Biscan and Nunez.

Agree0 Disagree1

Lancelot, you must be bloomin blind saying Hedo is crap! He is the Dirk Kuyt of our midfield and some of his passing is amazing, that is if you get off you bhind and watch a game. the slide balls, crosses, runs and all round unselfish play is what makes him the class player he is. Allen is young and has been hit by injuries, give the lad a chance and back your team. Even Biscan gave his all, which I more than I can say for a so clled proven player in moses, now he is crap.

Agree0 Disagree0

To the person who said we took a gamble on Suarez? he was not performing for Ajax like he is now? Are you for real? He scored 49-50 games for Ajax .

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Jan 2014 22:00:39
Anyone who says Lucas and Henderson are useless clearly know nothing about football. You can't have a full team of Suarez and Sturridges. A full team of Gerrards on the other hand, perhaps yes!

@fact jones

I don't know where you collect your statistical facts, but Suarez scored 111 goals in 159 matches with Ajax during a four year spell. That, of course, is impressive enough, but still, he was playing in an inferior league where there's been plenty of goalgetters who couldn't cut it in more competitive leagues. Afonso Alves, for instance. Now, I'm by no means saying that it was a bad gamble, it was, of course a fantastic decision to buy him, but still, paying £25m for someone unproven at the highest level is a gamble. And it is that kind of gamble I would like us to pursue again. Salah is not as proven as Suarez was at Ajax, and he's nowhere near as expensive. Imho we should pay the £12m asked (if that is the true figure). If we rate him at £6-9m we won't get him and we should move on to our next target, simple as that. To the people who believe we're being held ransom by Basel, if you have a hot commodity and there are several interested parties, wouldn't you also stay patient and wait for your asking price to be met? There's plenty of time left in the transfer window for Salah to get his dream move to the EPL, whether it be with Liverpool or some other club willing to meet the asking price.
