Just read we're interested in Depay if Mane leaves. I RTFP and his name was mentioned today but there was no reference to Mane leaving and the Ed's never commented. Please put this to bed Ed's on both fronts.

{Ed002's Note - If Liverpool do wish to buy Depay it would be at the expense of Mane I would think.}

No no no!

Could you tease us on possible forward additions if studge and Origi both leave please Ed? Or do you expect Origi to stay? Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - I suspect Origi will stay and Brewster will, I think, be integrated in to the squad.}

Depay for Mane would be a definite downgrade!

Sorry, to clarify. Does "Depay at the expense of Mane mean" there's currently an explicit risk of Mane leaving, or is LFC just staying ahead of this and planning contingencies?

Or, am I reading too much into your answer and it's just your opinion that adding Depay would only happen if Mane were to leave?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Why is this such a struggle to understand? You all crave £100Ms of players to pack out the squad - why would Insigne, Hudson-Odoi, Hazard, Dybala, Depay etc. move to sit on Liverpool's bench? Where would the money come from to pay for them?}

09 Apr 2019 06:54:21
I feel like Odoi is realistic as he is super young and wouldn't have a tranfer fee. also being so young id find it hard to belive he thinks he could join any elite club and be a nailed on starter straight away. whos to say shaqiri won't leave as he may have fallen out of favour with Klopp.? there would be plenty of very good players that wouldn't cost 100m+ and be happy to be part of our squad that is trying to win things. injuries, form and rotation is an obvious reasoning for good players to join us with realistic chances of plenty of game time. i dunno why ed2 keeps banging on about us having to let 1 of our front 3 go to add obvious lack of depth on LW and AM. players will leave but it won't be our stars, by liverpools choice anyway, so room will be made. Possibly Milner, Lallana, Sturridge etc. Liverpool is a much better fit for Odoi then Chelsea for game time and more importantly development. most players really as a matter of fact, as Klopp can generally bring out the best in players, so long as they have the drive to want to learn and improve.

Thanks for the note, Ed002. I try to follow the finances part as much as I can with the info I can get, and I'm not delusional about what we can realistically expect them to spend this coming summer. I appreciate your notes on the finances, as I have worked in finance for major 4 teams in the US for 10+ years. You guys do a great job cutting through the sensationalist junk that gets reported. I do disagree on putting Depay and maybe even Hudson-Odoi in that big money tier, but that wasn't the focus of my question.

I'm just confused on how Mane relates to this, and if the situation is where there's a *real* risk of him leaving (teams actively plotting to acquire him) or if you simply think someone like Depay won't be added unless Mane leaves, in general.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool will not add £70M or whatever players to simply sit on the bench. I stuggl;e to see why this is so difficult to comprehend.}

11 Apr 2019 17:58:06
I agree. I don't believe they'll spend that kind of money on a guy who will be support for Fimino, Mane, and Salah. Fee may stretch to 40-45M, but certainly not 70M. I also don't know in what world Depay is valued as a 70M player either though, but if that's the price Lyon have placed on him, then I understand why you keep coming back with his connection to Mane having to leave. All I really wanted to know though is if Mane may leave or not, independent of any interest or connection to Depay or anyone.

Hi eds,

Seen a rumour about us being interested in a young striker from Paris FC with a quality name, Wamangituka.

Know anything about it/ him? doesn't really make much sense to me with the likes of Brewster Duncan and Glatzel trying to break through.

Cheers eds.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any declaration of interest from Liverpool in Silas Wamangituka but he has certainly been watched by them, Barcelona and numerous other sides, including several from England such as Brighton, Leicester and Spurs. A problem the English sides have is he will never be eligible to be home grown and would likely not get a work permit - whereas Barcelona don't have any such issues. I would not hold your breath.}

Cheers Eds02, excuse my ignorance, but why are the rules different around the European Union regarding work permits, ie our young striker always on loan and this lad playing in France and no problem in Spain?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - The rules are the same for people in the European Union moving from country to country to work, but local rules in each country apply regarding Work Permits for people outside of the European Union.}

Hi Ed002, just wondering please if we will soon be getting any Sharkopods? Think you normally do them around now?

{Ed002's Note - reasonably soon

TRANSFER RUMOURS

I haven't really seen us linked with any significant names this year which is the first time in a while. Has anyone got any knowledge of who we are looking at for the summer?

Memphis Depay.

I look at the Depay thing and think here is a talented player who was discarded by United too quickly and mismanaged by them with who has started showing he’s a very good player with a point to prove. Much like a certain Mr Salah. I’m pretty sure he’d be happy working under Klopp surrounded by familiar faces such as van Dijk and Wijnaldum and he’d be a success. And where better to rub United’s nose in it than here?

I have heard the following .

Jay Dasilva - Young left back from Chelsea on loan with Bristol City with those having first option on him apparently but another English lad.
Adrien Rabiot - The PSG player but Eds have more substantial info that he is off elsewhere, still sticking to my sources.
Danny Wellbeck - I just heard about this late last night - he is on a free and used to being a squad player and does give us options up front and is English.

I thin the lack of names is due to who is leaving, I mean we have Champions League football next season so we are in a great place from a recruitment point of view - not sure how the accountant sees it though.

{Ed025's Note - im sure that ED01 will be delighted that danny wellbeck it being linked to you KC, i think hes a big fan mate.. :)

07 Apr 2019 10:46:45
Hi Ed025 - Wellbeck is a wild one and I must admit but put a smile on my face once I heard it as my mate talked about it as if he was stone cold sober . but he is a decent squad player if he can stay fit.

Welbeck makes zero sense as he is a poor version of Origi.

I’d rather we kept origi than wasted time with a crock like Welbeck.

I can't see us going for depay, albeit he has some really positive attributes but he has no sense of defensive responsibility which all three of our current forwards relish putting him out of klopps radar for me. Plus I think it may also be time for his contract renewal and wouldn't surprise me if his agent or 'entourage' have been talking to local media. I love the 'entourage' phrase the media use. Footballers haha. How many assistants do these people honestly need?
Sorry, I digress. Back to business, so, welbeck? Really? Come on. We may as well keep Studge if we want an English sicknote with some OK to good YouTube footage.
I'd like fullbacks for either side or somebody who can cover both sides equally as good. I'm not convinced by wan bissaka or sessegnon tbh. I think due to their names appearing in the media regularly makes them safe bets for a lot of fans, having said that they are young and do have great potential but the figures being mentioned are crazy for players who positionally leave a lot to be desired and having no international or European experience.

Memphis Depay I could understand, as he moved to united too soon and was not ready for the step up.
Danny Welbeck?, must mean Sturridge is leaving and there is a place in the treatment room available.

Greenflash totally agree with you on welbeck but depay, yes he probably did move too soon but he turned us down in the same transfer window for utd and I just don't think he has learnt about the other side of the game, the boring stuff that isn't flashy but just as important, especially to a klopp type player. The fight and spirit in this current team is what I believe is our greatest strength added with the individual qualities. Hendo and milner changed the saints game due to their fight and verbal aggression that lifted the other players. Depay has neither of these qualities in my book.
