Hi Eds isn't Fowler a free agent? Im sure he could still do a job on a pay as you play basis? {Ed002's Note - He is but surely it would be a kick in the teeth for the youngsters to see a 47 year old Robbie Fowler back at the club for a year.}

Isnt he 37..?? {Ed002's Note - Nearly 48.}

Fowler should be in coaching our strikers.

Gibzkit.

He is 37 ed, check again. {Ed002's Note - He lies about his age.}

Fowler isnt 47 and im sure he still knows where the back of the net is,but on the other hand how bad of a situation are we in when were looking at or even talking about old players,i just feel our club is going backwards and it really hurts me

The club is definitely going backwards tryng to get a bargain player for a year? Outrageous we need to pay 20million for fowler at least

What is wrong with people....is it that hard to understand that we failed to sign anybody on deadline day therefore we simply have to wait until January when the window re-opens to bring in new attacking options. This is not the end of world as realistically, we will probably finish in a similar position to last year anyway given the restructure going on. We are embarrassing ourselves here wondering about possibilities of signing the likes of Fowler,Owen, Drogba, Barrios, Kalanic and even bloody Robbie Keane who is contracted with another club. People often talk about the football knowledge and intelligence of Liverpool fans etc. but it can be lacking in here at times. I am quite excited about the future under Rodgers (i.e. next 2-3 years not 2-3 months). I am extremely grateful to FSG for saving the club from administration and for financially restructuring the club in accordance with the upcoming FIFA Fair Play regulations. The record deal with Warrior and Standard Charter was impressive too. For the fist time in years the club is being properly run and the future looks good. Dont therefore expect the club to pay some has been player millions in wages etc for the sake of waiting 16 weeks for the window to reopen. Lets speculate on who the club might be targeting in January...players who will be bought for the right prices with the long term in mind.

I dont't think he's 47!!!!!!!

47? someone hates god,the graham le saux still festers in you?
frankyscouse

The Ed is right... I spotted Fowler out with Ken Aguero celebrating his brithday - I counted 47 candles.

tippers

I think liverpool would have given him his first start before he was 27!

Big Bad Bob

Confirmed. Ed002 failed Maths. 2012-1975 = 37

Anyway, if Brendan feels his midfielders are good enough, he can play 4-6-0. But I think it is better for him to start Adam Morgan.

Did Ed002 just get something wrong? Unlucky Ed haha I agree Fowler should at least be offered a chance at coaching our strikers. He can't do worse than the coaches we have now, only problem is I heard he is interested in the Chesterfield managers job

Aaron

Ed002,
I think you have got his age wrong.
He isn't 47; he was BORN in 47'.

Redjinal

I think the eds point was the younger players deserve more of a chance than some old player signing for the club again.

Do you not think Ed might have been talking with his tongue firmly in cheek?

The ed was just trying to prove a point ya bunch of wallies !

It is so deflating knowing that we are in for such a long hard season just to stay mid table and away from the relegation zone. Why didn't they take a gamble on Jordan rhodes. worse case scenario we sold him back to the championship level.

I'd rather stick with what we've got than get fowler

I think some people in the top brass thinks that it is unwise to spend 8 million on a striker who is unproven at the top level. Anyway, Blackburn snapped him up with a transfer fee of 8 million.

Fowler aka God is a natural goal scorer and would be a brilliant mentor and coach for the academy strikers. AKLFC

Ian Rush is a free agent as well! Please dont be going down the line of naming all the semi/retired players saying we should have a pop on them.......

Man Utd brought Scholes back last year, so were they in the same boat as us.

Do u guys not realise that ed02 is taking the p*ss?! so hes not really 47 but he might as well be for all the good it would do in signing him. hes past it and so his age is irrelevant. at least thats what i think ed means.

Perhaps now is the time for Liverpool to hold open trials for the #9 position and film it as a reality show. The winner gets to lead the line from now until January 31. We just might get relegated but it would make hella TV!

Robbie would play for nothing I imagine. I am sure he could do 20 minutes. Long time ago when we had Fowler Litmanen Owen and hesley. Titi Camara would do! real shame. {Ed002's Note - Jari Litmanen is available as a free agent as well.}

I think Ed002 was referring to the number 47 as the number of years since you won a trophy :)

Ed, isn't Kenny Dalglish a free agent now, or would the club not have him back? I mean in a playing capacity, not managerial role. I seem to remember he got a great goal at Anfield only a few years ago, albeit a charity match, but with a few days on the atkins, a few hours in the gym, and a few million signing on fee...he would be better value than that RSVP bloke the manckers just signed. Please post Ed because I haven't seen this option proposed by anyone else and would just like to know what others think about this. Thanks. Dave the Red.

We can't go backwards like that, Fowler is a legend, but his day is over. Throw in the young lads, mix it up a bit, Assaidi, Morgan and Yemil should get chances. Bring on the challenge, I know it will be a tough few months, but we've had a tough 20 years or so, BR and FSG will get it right for sure

You could always sign Jordan, you already have a pair of massive t**s up front so another pair wouldnt hurt.

Definitely want him in there as part of the coaching staff working with strikers......but anyone suggesting he could do a job on the field obviously hasn't seen him play in the last 2-3 years. He was off the pace in his final season in Australia 2 years ago and I'm not sure he's played since (maybe in Malaysia for a bit?!?!)......on the other hand.....he is still GOD!

John Aldridge still looks slim and i bet can still head a ball

He could always get the treatment scholes gets from the media,Thought mark lawrensen was going to wet his pants r knickers when talking about him and purple nose on football focus 1 day there.Folwer would be a great man to stick in the training i think show r first team how to find the corner of the net r is that something u cant coach u have it r u dont hopefully only a matter of time till we start scoring o and tighten up at the back.Tommy Irish Red

Zoro's coming in on a free and the Lone Ranger and Tonto in January for 20 mill each they tried for Silver but he would only come for 2 bales of hay and a bag of carrots FSG said they couldn't afford him, so we've turned our attention to a Dalek as long as the pitch is flat we'll 'exterminate' the opposition - get a grip no ones riding in to save us its all in our own hands we're in a transition period so lets go for it give all the kids a go the cream rises to the top !!

Samed Yesil FTW

Get a grip Lar !!
Av you seen the size of the gut on him ?
Oh sorry ! Talkin about GOD ere!!

Move on !! We will be a Leeds or Forrest !

( I bet the Eds don't print this, cos u all can't take negativity )

Rushy9

Aww, wum fail:

"I think Ed002 was referring to the number 47 as the number of years since you won a trophy :)"

Bless, back to wum school for you!

Give suso and yesil a go

I like the reality tv idea - would put some coffers in the bank if we could get it screened prime time on a commercial channel and sell the advertising.

I for one would love to see him back.

Realityshow? No it would need to be comedy it will rival Only fools and horses

God I love my comedy moments on Liverpool pages

Pardoe {Ed063's Note - Almost as good as the United pages right?}

Fowler couldn't do the job in the A-League, which is a poor man's championship league - he most certainly could not do a job in the toughest league in the world.

Is Riquelme a free agent? And Drogba there's interest? {Ed002's Note - Riquelme is a free agent but Drogba is not.}

Would roquelme still be good enough to play for lfc. {Ed002's Note - Riquelme won't be moving to Liverpool.}

5-8 years ago, he was a top top player. not now. Forget him. Stick with morgan - give him a chance. coudl save us a few million

Suso and Yesil > Riquelme and Drogba

I think you are wrong Ed002 - doesn't the mere fact that he is a free agent mean that him signing for LFC is imminent. Skill level, injury record, age, and even the players preference don't even come into the equation do they?
