I know people won't want to hear this but i have an ex professional friend who is currently working for Man Citys owners. He has heard that we are getting bought out by Arabs at Christmas and the reason for the lack of transfers was purely to save money from between now and then. A rough estimate is 22 million saved. This is not idle gossip. These Arabs are in the same financial bracket as the City owners.

Course we are!!

we have owners now who are trying to steady the ship and not blow massive amounts on the team as next year we have to be self sufficent as per FIFA rules. Teams like Man City and Chelsea will not be able to spend like they have in years gone by.

Allllllrighty then ha ha, would it not have been more cost effective to have done this 'transation' in the summer?

Utter Trash!

Clubs will find a way round the FIFA rules mate. FIFA and UEFA haven't got the balls to stand up to them. Remember we are talking about FIFA and UEFA.

The only, and I mean ONLY, thing which would make sense is the fact that there has been no decision or progress on the stadium issue.
It is not impossible, but it is very unlikely.
Owners like City's could potentially destabilise our youth set up if the players didn't get opportunities.

Hope it's true

Blairs right, money talks and theres a plenty in football these days.
The lack of communication from the owners is a bit concerning, and i am sure if someone flashed the cash and they would make money out of a sale then i am sure a sale would be on the cards.

If we did get sold, any new owner would be crazy to change things about, we are starting to look like a team, BR ideas are getting through to the players..

That is the only way were ever gonna be compete for the title again,is if we have a man city style takeover.However this rumour is complete and utter bull,so lets just leave it there.

Hope its true bcoz the way things are going the Financial fair play rules are just utter trash and every mega rich club will find some loophole to avoid being dropped from European tournaments..the governing bodies are just not strong or strict enough to forcefully implement these rules and risk the clubs boycotting UEFA tournaments and forming different leagues of their own..
FSG are much richer than abramovich or whoever else and in the same bracket as city's owners but they are too much dependent on the FFP rules and trying to play safe without investing too much.. Top 4 looking very difficult and if things dont improve drastically by jan anything is possible..

My goodness we must be the most unluckiest and stupidest club seriously , in my opinion financial fair play is just plain b.s , clubs that spend big will find a way around it and sadly Liverpool FC owners are to naive , I don't care what anyone says , I rather have a mega rich billionaire owning our club and have instant success like Chelsea and man city than wait an decade to have a crack at the title but that doesn't mean I won't support the current project , I'm sick of us being dissed by crappy club supporters that we are not even in the champions league let alone challenging for the title , we are Liverpool FC for heaven sake an global club and we should start showing on the pitch that we are a global club

It comes to something when the biggest thing to happen to your club is you wanting new owners personally i would love this to happen and then you go the same way as malaga because your only source of success would be through a system which buys trophies but then im pretty sure there are more attractive proposals in the premiership than lfc

I have to say that post that began with my goodness is spot on.regarding the post cant see someone from city knowing so much about liverpool buisness. maybe its santa coming and mr snowman.Tommy Irish Red

IT would be great if it happened!

But I fear its wishful thinking only?

Who cares what would happened to the academy if we could buy off the shelf supperstars like chelsea

Most in the academy will be duds

Id rather be in the position we are in at the moment, with developing youth players and seeding them into the first team than turn into a new 'Man City'. Buying big names for fun, isn't the Liverpool way.

I like everyone is desperate for success but time has to be given to a manager whom i think will do well. The answer at the moment for lfc is not money but stability and common sense. Remember we were in the champions league and had every team in europe fearing us .....but we had one set of players and when an injury or loss of form happened we were poor, we had no depth , no soul and no loyalty.....the moment it looked rocky the so called big players went.Let fsg do their stuff. We are building from the bottom, a solid base with good hungry players who want to win.the days of relying on one legend has to be put in the past. Buying average players with huge wages based on one decent season has to be stopped, especially when their sell on value is zilch. From now we have to buy or discover young players who can be moulded to a system, who graft, who don`t accept defeat , but most of all want to wear the shirt.....not just want the pay cheque!!.....think....dare i say it, the mancs, or Barca. Long term projects with long term dominance, not short term fixes with bad bank balances and a shock round every corner. We have to trust these owners. They with Bredan have already cleared out the old wood and saved a fortune in wages.Ok we missed out on Dempsey......oh no!!I personally have prefered the emergance of Suso and Sterling over the buying of a 30 year old average player!!Patience my friends it will be ok.Y.N.W.A PINHEAD.

And thats saturday night hangover speaking for him. good morning Sunday

Boys can you smell that its sheep no its cows no i know what it is its rubbish

Ref the city links, you'd be surprised how many there are, especially through players agents. I've been saying for some time now on here that an outright deal or partnership is being discussed at the highest level. Not just sponsorship....

Marshy {Ed002's Note - It is not possible to own more than one club who are involved in the same competitions.}

I hope not.

We completely outplayed the billionaires at Anfield.

We are doing fine.

Personally, i'd much prefer we EARN our position at the top of the game, through sensible ownership, prudent financial management, development of youth players etc... rather than BUY success a la Man City and Chelsea.

Fans of the aforementioned clubs would never admit it, obviously, but deep down they know their success is tainted by the fact that it was given to them on a plate.

Liverpool is a special club, we WILL be back at the top sooner or later, and we won't need a sugar daddy to get there.

YNWA

The way things are at the moment the proposition does look attractive- the teams which splash the most cash win the trophies. I would like a rich owner with a prudent approach- a mix of the two if you like. Just buying your way to success is too short term and vain for me.

Why on earth to people including Ed's think that IF we are bought by Mega Rich owners we will turn up like City or Chelsea!?!?!?!. Why can't people understand that the owners may be knowleadgable about the business side of soccer. Atleast with Rich owners "we have hopes of signing top quality players". Honestly speaking, with FSG at the helm, we wont even get half top quality players simply because FSG are not qualified to RUN A SOCCER CLUB. We need an owner who is solely commuted to ONE SPORT or one who KNOWS SOCCER LIKE THE BACK OF HIS HAND. Onlh then may we challenge for Top 4 and beyond...

Ed 002 - I wasn't talking about Man City partnerships, I meant part buy in's at the club or a complete buy out with parties other than the Man City owners.

The reference to Man city is one of intermediaries having affairs at both clubs - both player representation and 'higher'.

Marshy {Ed002's Note - I know nothing of this buyout by Arabs or any non-standard links of any type.}

I couldn't care less who owns the club provided they are not morally bankrupt - and obviously not financially bankrupt - though it would be nice to have owners with some football experience (not American football).
If anyone does come, they will take stock of Rodgers team.
There are signs that Rodgers has a side in the making, but equally that could also turn into a side in crisis. Any prospective owner or potential part owner needs to be working in the background for a plan B to remedying any critical situation that might arise in the coming months.
That should include bringing in new, quality/experienced players for Rodgers.
But hovering around the relegation area for a prolonged period is not acceptable - in a relegation fight Liverpool would not be equipped to succeed, especially with the young lads who have done so well, who will be worn out by March April. RBBR

We are exploring the option of bringing in Ciro Immobile in January.

07 Oct 2012 09:01:26

If he's immobile - dont think pass and move is his game. haha

Evening eds , just read a post from yesterday about sturridge loan and sell . Do you think he would reconcider his options now he's not playing. Maybe as soon as January.cheers psv any thoughts {Ed002's Note - He is not playing because he is injured.}

Adam Maher from AZ Alkmaar. Any LFC interest? {Ed002's Note - Last year Hamburg, Leicester, West Ham, Augsburg and Manchester City enquired about Adam Maher. There were also unsubstantiated rumours of interest from Arsenal a while back, but nothing from Liverpool. Asking about players at random is really not good use of your time or mine and will invariably result in the same "no interest" answer.}

Aw can you not be bothered as usual ed002 go and do something else then {Ed002's Note - You actually get answers like the above because I can be bothered - and if you had the balls to sign a name then I will be more than happy just to delete all of the Liverpool posts that I don't want to answer in order to keep you happy. Then the posters will know who to thank. We give our time for nothing and have to put up with anonymous trolling cocks*ckers like you.}

To the ed is it not a rumours site?, why give the boy stick for asking about a random player, it is your job is it not to answer his question? And it wasnt some mad player that we may not have any chance of getting. If you dont want to answer questions on rumours you should maybe switch it of till the next transfer window.

Scootybhoy1888 {Ed002's Note - I do not have the time nor inclination to sit here and answer questions about lists of random players people have found on some fantasy manager game. I have no idea why you think it is my "job" to do that. The second response came from a troll not the original poster who I answered. But if you want us to shut the Liverpool and Celtic pages down until January I guess we could look at that for you.}

any chance of liverpool signing Alex McCarthy from reading looks loads better than reina

There is a QUESTION site you know!

Is there interest in Mertens from liverpool ed? N which is the other club seriously interested in him?
Indian Buzzer {Ed002's Note - I don't see Mertens moving to LIverpool in January. If he moves next summer I suspect it may well be to Bayern Munich although there remains serious interest from Lazio.}

Hi Ed002,
do Cole, Henderson and Downing have any future at Anfield or will they be sold ASAP? thanks. {Ed002's Note - Henderson's agent was told in the summer that he would be made available if a club could be found. I would expect Downing to leave next summer. Cole has been injured but I would suspect that the summer will see him leave as well.}

Henderson is staying. Downing will be sold in summer as well as cole

I hope we keep Henderson

Henderson WILL be a solid option he works hard, good passer, can score goals..No way he will be forced to leave...Take Carrick and Fletcher at UTD Fergie would never sell & hes better than both of them!

Henderson leaving would be a mistake. He's a solid option who can improve. I have no qualms with Downing/Cole/Enrique leaving so long as we replace Downing and Enrique adequately. They better work hard to get Mertens in but I'm sure it'll be WLcott instead. As for our defense: the Kaya guy from turkey would be a great option

Be a mistake to move Henderson on IMO but if hes not cutting it in Brendan's eyes move him on.

As for Joe thought he would have fitted in well under BR`s regime injuries and time out just make him not a very viable player for The Reds ,pitch time to wages must be a scary calculation .

Downing leaving is a must hes been a terrible buy ,in fact Downing leaving could be the trigger for Henderson to start stamping his authority on games.

McGurk

I sthe position with Henderson the same Ed's? He seems commited and he's young, and seems to be adapting to the new style? {Ed002's Note - I expleained the postion with Henderson in the first answer.}
