Fernando Aristeguieta a 20yo striker currently on loan at FC Nantes. Swansea are looking to seal a deal but the rumours at Swansea is Brendan Rodgers is going to beat them to it. Both Swansea and Liverpool were looking to get him in January But he was playing such a poor league in Venezuala that they got cold feet. His Class has shone through while playing in France. Definately a player to follow.

We have Yesil to come through, too.

hello editors,

I hear that Alex Sandro (Porto's left back) is a serious target for Liverpool. any truth in that? Last I heard he was linked with Manchester. is he available on cheap or does he have huge contract close on his head?

another one is Jérémy Ménez. is he available on cheap (around 8mill) as many suggest? if so what is the story behind it? I really think that he is a quality player whom Liverpool should go after. {Ed001's Note - I only know we have been taking a look at Porto's left back, no idea about the lad at all. As for Menez, again no idea, sorry.}

Believable9 Unbelievable11

How viable of an option is he Ed? I'm asking because Porto bought him for €10 million a couple years back and well, Porto being Porto, they're going to want some absurd price for him. I don't think we have the money buy him just for competitionlong term for Enrique. He may take over for Enrique in a year or two, but I still can't see us spending that amount of money. {Ed001's Note - to be honest, I really don't know much about him, other than we have taken a look at him. You are right though, it would be unlikely to happen unless he was seen as a replacement, due to the cost involved. Porto do buy to sell for a profit though, so it is viable in terms of their willingness to sell.}

At the very least this shows that Rodgers sees the need to obtain competition for LB, as Enrique desperately needs it. Same for Johnson, I might add.

Eds fellow reds hope you've enjoyed the summer, just been looking at victor wanyama. I think he looks like what we need big strong defensive game and pops up with some goals, a micheal essien type of player. Is he a possibility {Ed002's Note - Not whilst the club has no interest.}

Believable20 Unbelievable7

Lol Ed you're going to get continuously asked about Wanyama until there is interest! Unfortunately I don't see it happening. Don't even think BR will target a DM to be honest

Agree0 Disagree0

It's Spring mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed he is a target, trust me #ITK we have had people going to watch him

Hey eds, I just have a question in regards to the future of Patrick Herrmann from borussia monchengladbach. Will he be moving soon?
Not sure if you eds have a big knowledge of the bundasliga but I have only seen him once on tv when I was trying to get a look at ter stegan and he looks good and then his highlight reel is unreal. Cheers. {Ed002's Note - They are just about to agree a new deal with him. He won't be moving in all probability.}

Great players a bit similar to reus in style.

Hi Ed001

Thanks for sharing your views yesterday was really interesting to see your opinion

I've tried searching but was wondering if we have any interest in full backs?

I know we looked at Richards a while back but wanted to know if we've looked at any recently, for example Digne, Martins indi or Montoya of Barca?

Thanks

Mac {Ed001's Note - we were looking at a right back, following Kelly's injury, but never moved for any in January, I would assume that was because Wisdom provided adequate cover for now. We haven't been noticeably scouting any right backs since then. Left backs we are supposedly still looking at, Porto's left back has been mentioned to me, though I forget his name, pretty sure he was another Brazilian to add to Coutinho and Lucas. Willems, a young lad at Bilbao (whose name I am not even going to try and spell!) and Neil Taylor were also mentioned as possible targets.}

Believable15 Unbelievable3

Would love for us to move for Porto's left back Alex Sandro, I think he's a real talent being so quick and strong, although I do rate Enrique and do think Robinson could be useful as cover. As much as I think we could use any of the listed players in the team, I do think two CBs have to be the priority and hopefully have enough money left over to strengthen further forward, provided Reina doesn't leave. Cheers ed

Agree0 Disagree0

Was the porto left back Alex Sandro Ed001?

KiwiRed {Ed001's Note - must be, according to the other editors, who are telling me that is their Brazilian left back. I haven't seen him play, so I have no idea what he is like though.}

Agree0 Disagree0

That Left Back is Alex Sandro?

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the bilboa lad is Jon Aurtenetxe

Lil Red

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed does that mean Enrique is likely to leave or are we looking at competion for lb? {Ed001's Note - not sure, I haven't heard of any attempts to sell him, so I would say competition.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Is Aurtenetxe the Bilbao left back you're on about Ed? {Ed001's Note - yes, something like that, like I said, no way I was going to even try and spell it, without googling and then copy and pasting it.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks for the info Ed

I would be happy with any of those options as they're all better than Jose!

A real worry for me is defensive midfield, our lack of cover or competition for Lucas, who I feel has been rather average recently, is poor.

Have we hinted at looking for a combative midfielder?

Someone in the ilk of Gonalons or Capoue

Thanks, sorry for so many questions, you give really good answers!

Much appreciated

Mac

Enrique has hugely improved for me this season, his ability to get forward and play nice one-touch passes around the opposition box, his long passes which have set up a good few goals for Suarez, and most of all I think his defending has improved to the extent that players know when he shields the ball they have no hope of getting to it! However I think a bit of competition for places can improve his overall game as there is still a few things he has to improve on. Alex Sandro would be a great addition and would mean we have strength in depth for the left-back position which is what we need going forward.
Cheers,
LS7.

Agree0 Disagree0

Enrique was runaway man of the match a few games this season, and he was the best defensive performer in most of the games he played in (save of course for a few nightmares in the early part of the season), so I really have no idea why anybody would think it'd be a good idea to put him on the market. he's pretty much the only guy on the team besides Carra with some steel and grit, he uses his body better than pretty much anybody else in the league, I think, and though he still needs to work on his final ball, anybody who says he's been poor in that department this season obviously hasn't been watching him play. Luis would probably be the first person to say how much he appreciates having him around. he chases every ball, tracks back, isn't often beaten for pace, plays the game with confidence and a sense of authority. that's more than I can say about a certain Glen Johnson, who does none of those things consistently, and whose balls into the box are significantly worse than Jose's.

Agree0 Disagree0

I really hope something happens with Alex Sandro. Rodgers better get on that. Would be a perfect LB for his system. Enrique's a bit poor when he goes forward.

Agree0 Disagree0

I have no idea why there's so much disdain for enrique for his season in newcastle he got:
1 assist in 08
2 assists in 09
3 assists in 11

Liverpool:
2 assists in 12
2 goals and 6 assists 13

He was never a full back that scored and assisted a lot, such as baines for example. He has his odd moments of a laps in cocnentration, but usually his long ball and diagnol ball is good, he hendo and coutnho have been running the opositions right defense ragged for a lot of the season. I don't deny competition is good, but he's accomplished a lot this season.

Agree0 Disagree0

No reason to disdain Enrique, however he has one major deficit in that he disrupts the flow of possession with too much dribbling and also with poor decision making.

At times.

Hi eds, just wandering on the situation with; Ben Arfa, Eriksen, Sow and Sanchez? I know a lot of rumours have been circulating about them? Thanks and really enjoy the page. {Ed002's Note - There is Liverpool interest in Eriksen as has been explained. The others, not that I am aware at this time.}

Believable17 Unbelievable9

Ed do you know of any other LFC targets if we fail to bring in Eriksen? thanks. {Ed002's Note - The priority remains defence and I would not hold your breath over Eriksen. Inan and others have been looked at.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed Mkhitaryan maybe? :) {Ed002's Note - Shakhtar's Mkhitaryan is of interest to Lazio and Juventus, but the player is looking for a move to Spain with Barcelona or somewhere in England, preferably London, so he can get the very high wages he says he is due. Seems a bit of a flake to be honest. Shakhtar are looking for about €25M which seems high to me, and they quoted €30M to another club.}

Hi Eds. Is there any more news on Alderweireld? Do you believe he is our 1st choice target for defenders? {Ed002's Note - There is nothing new.}

Believable15 Unbelievable4

Sadly Wiliams and Pearce

Agree0 Disagree0

If it's Williams and Pearce, then we can spend the next year looking for a new manager.

Hi eds, any truth that Rodgers wants to sign FC Twente's Douglas on a free transfer? {Ed002's Note - Reading, Newcastle, Aston Villa, Rubin Kazan and Ajax have all shown interest in Twente's Douglas in the recent past but Inter would like to take him for defensive cover whilst Spurs are considering if he would be suitable as a replacement for Gallas as an alternative to Alderweireld. Interest of Liverpool would be of no surprise.}
