"Soldado 'flattered' by Paris Saint-Germain links"

"It's flattering that PSG are interested in me," Soldado told Telefoot.

"They hold significance on the European scene and have an interesting project.

"If PSG made an offer that meets Valencia's asking price, then I will study it. I appreciate the competitiveness of football in France.

"However, If Valencia tell me to stay, then I will."

If PSG comes in, then its pretty much over. LFC cannot go into a bidding war and if they do, LFC will lose.

SLURed

Im happy that psg are interested because I've always liked luuk de jong better, also think he has more potential.

I think we should do all we can to get Luuk De Jong at Liverpool.

I'm convinced Inter Milan will want to have a look, as they also want to offload Luc Castaignos and Twente might be interested, depending on how much Castaignos wants to move home (drop in wagers), they might have an interesting bargaining chip.

I can't see Kuyt at Twente however, and that's before the wagers problem. I have heard that Bayern Munich were interested in Kuyt replacing Olic, at a bargain price, but most likely paper chat.

They won't get soldado, they want Higuain as their priority and I guarantee that they will get Higuain which leaves soldado to come to us. {Ed016's Note - Higuain is going to cost them 50+ million now}

I'd personally prefer Luuk de Jong over him. He looks to be a top prospect and I believe, he can be a major asset for us. YNWA Trustme

Oh shait 50 mill plus!! Nvm me saying that PSG are gonna get Higuain, I dont even think they have that much money. Now Ima just pray to Jesus that we get soldado ^o^. {Ed002's Note - PSG have enough money to but pretty much anyone they wish.}

hey ed's and macca, anything on robert lewandowski? {Ed022's Note - Nothing, although I have profiled him if it helps.}

06 May 2012 21:43:50
there are rumours we could sign Dempsey with a swap for kuyt, in my opinion luuk de jong would be a better signing, as he could cover the right wing position just incase we dont go after hoilet. also we could sell spearing use shelvey as back up and bring aquilani to the club again, as he has been class for ac millan. we may need another cb for carra. glen honson is awesome with kelly as back up. carrol and suarez should be used as a striking pair as they do play well together. and it will help prepare us for when hes gone, and another rumour on gaston ramires he looks class 16 million may be a gamble, but surely cant be worst then hendo even tho kenny plays him as a right winger when hes a cm. last note sell maxi and bring sterling into first team because he has been very good when he came on as a sub. against fulham he came on for 15 minutes and played three times as many good crosses for big andy, if we dont totenham are gunna snap him up!

Dempsey's cheap and a decent player.. Not a prolific striker but maybe an ideal partner for suarez.
I think we need speed in the squad though

I stopped reading when I got to "Johnson is awesome". have you actually watched him this season? He couldnt tackle a cheeseburger!

Well tbh johnson is the best full back we have, if we played kelly as a rb and johnson as a RW he would be better because apart from sterling he is our only winging option with real pace and can take poeple on, and dempsey would not be that cheap, if arsenal show their interest then the bidding wars could begin

06 May 2012 21:28:06
Ed could u be able to tell y luuk de Jong an gaston Ramirez weren't playing for there clubs tonight think its anythink to do with us {Ed022's Note - Nothing to do with us at all.}

Ramirez was suspended.

Dirks Engine Room

Ramirez was banned today

Yeah they were both so excited to be linked with us that they decided to quite their respective clubs just in case.

tick tock, I can hear Andy's bombs about to go off.

06 May 2012 21:27:46
Hello Eds do you think it is a possibilty that rafa will be back in the summer and who do you think will be D.O.F ? {Ed022's Note - Doubtful mate, and Txiki is favourite.}

I wish everyone would stop going on about Rafa. Kenny is the and will hopefully deservedly continue.

06 May 2012 21:26:51
Ed...do you Wigan's Martinez as a possible manager for LFC? Do you think he has what it takes to manage LFC at this difficult period of transition? {Ed022's Note - I've just answered this question but I'll answer again. I'd say he's done a truly outstanding job at Wigan, but I'm unsure if moving to Liverpool would be a little too early in his career.}

06 May 2012 21:17:37
i think instead of gambling 20-30mill EACH on young talent, try what we've already got: Henderson Downing Coates Adam We already had Shelvey, Coady,Sterling, Suso Wisdom.
Keep the money for a hungry goalscorer

Ok and we'll finish 9th next season too.

06 May 2012 21:00:48
Such a shame the Andys second yesterday wasn't allowed! In my opinion probabily over but hey ho the guy really changed the game and IMO man the match performance once on!... One thing has really frustrated me this season, and that is we look to slow on the counter attack! We constantly slow the play down and start passing it around allowing the opposition to get every man back behind the ball and make getting decent balls into the area a lot harder!... Everytime Chelsea got the ball yesterday they had a 3 pronged attack run at us and constantly looked a threat! We just don't have the same urgency!.. I hope that's sorted for next season!

Danski

Very true that we take are to slow to counter attck. Also our midfield plays too deep.

Have any of youse eds heard anything about the sale of jay spearing. Honestly I think he is nothing more than a championship player and wouldnt get in any other prem team {Ed022's Note - Yes I have. I expect him to leave this summer mate.}

I think your being very harsh on the lad

Yeah, he's no Championship player. Mid Prem atleast. Every time he has pulled on a red shirt he has given his best

Totally agree with the OP, will have a future in football but not at Livverpool

I remember when he was on loan at Leicester asking some Leicester fans if they would like to keep him. They said 'no thanks' and told me they didn't think he was good enough for the Championship. I know everyone wants the Academy lads to do well, but there is no point being sentimental. He's just one a large number of players that we simply have to get rid of. -SH-

Hope so spearing is absolute s**t and wish him gone asap

Playing him cost us the game yesterday and KD knows it. The way he gave the ball away for their first goal did not need to happen. All he does is give the ball back to where it came from. nice lad though

Nothing like Supporting your own! 1 mistake, reina. Made a bigger blunder u tools. KK

Spearing is s**t, he is too small, gets bullied off the ball all the time, he would be good at someone like blackpool or leeds, i personally think jonjo should have got the place yesterday rather than jay

lfc2012

I always support our player thru thick n thin but you gotta admit at the end of the day, Spearing gave the ball away many times because his passing arent clever at all, he is slow and cant catch up and his positionning isnt good enough. There are other bad points but he makes it up for being passionate. But still he has to go...

I hope he does go, but who to. I don't thin he wants to go to the championship, but who in the premier league would buy him. he is just average.

I wonder how many of you responders were thrilled when he did his best to fill in for Lucas and was helping us to win games... I love the kid, I do. I want him to be successful anywhere he goes, but it's probably not here. :(

McSnuggles

As far as who should have played over Spearing yesterday, it should have been (if anyone) Carroll.

Spearing is a reasonably good footballer in the Mascherano mould - good at short passing, relatively talented in a long passing situation and at taking pot shots from 30 yards. A good person to have scampering around the centre of the park, clearing up and recycling play. He differs from Lucas in that Lucas does what he does from postitional adeptness, in a way similar to Hyypia.

Spearing is much more of a terrier type, as, like I say above, is Mascherano. Unfortunately for Spearing, he lacks the bite in the tackle and quite frankly the pace of Mascherano to be anywhere near as effective (Mascherano also has a good positional sense as you can gather from his spells as a RB and CB but that's beside the point). So whilst Spearing has a promising future at a mid-level Prem team (I think he would do well at somewhere like Norwich for example - coincidentally the same team who bought him off me on FIFA, where he progressed to a very impressive 82. Why this was the same level Lucas peaked at for me is unfathomable but ah well, tis only a computer game) or even as a squad player for us, he really isn't cut out for a full-time 1st team berth or as the 2nd option given a long term injury, as has happened this season.

TSP

A bit harsh to call him absolute s**t. He's clearly a better player than any of us! Although I think he's gives his all every game, he's not up to Liverpool standards.

He's gash and he looks like "the Brain" from binky and the brain, cant pass, cant shoot, cant tackle, how he gets a game ahead of maxi, Sterling, Soso, Shelvey is beyond me. I know they play in different positions but they are still better than "the next Stevie G". Totally agree with the OP.

Spearing wasnt the main problem in the final, but he was a big one. i lost track of the amount of times when, with the balls at one of our defenders feet, spearing would have a blue shirt between him and the ball, and gerrard had to come back down the pitch into space to provide an option.

i dont buy into the knocking of enrique. he was having to get far too advanced due to downings inadequecies. downing has no confidence in his own ability, and he just wont run at defenders, or try and get past them. meaning enrique then had to work his ass off to get up the pitch and provide the overlap. i would put money, stats wise, that enrique covered more ground than anyone, certainly in the first half. and that is not a stat you would want for your wing back.

i still think henderson shows a ton of potential. and carrol is actually starting to come good

Spearing has passion in spades but is no way good enough for centre mid, look at the top of the prem and who apart from Man utd have a midget in that posistion. I wish the lad well but if we want to move forward we shouldnt even be discussing whether to keep him or not. {Ed002's Note -

Think you'll find it's pinky and the brain

Agree with Edds but I hate him playing so much I fink it wood be better if he just paked his boots away and become a roofer or a gardner

Bit harsh, just because he's not good enough for Liverpool doesn't mean he's not a good footballer. He'd do well at a lower club like Wigan for example.

06 May 2012 20:50:15
Hi eds! Do you think Guardiola could be next LFC coach?
I think he would be the most suitable man to lead us to the first 4 places. {Ed022's Note - I don't think so mate. He genuinely wants a year out.}

Could honestly see him take over at LFC if we dont perform better next year

What was his past before he became Barca manager? {Ed022's Note - Barcelona youth team manager.}

He will go back to barca after his break. {Ed022's Note - Doubtful.}

06 May 2012 20:33:24
During my trip to the final yesterday, I was on the jubilee line which was relatively empty at the time I was sat opposite two liverpool fans who was minding their own business , when a man asked them how the match would go, anyway they got into a good descussion about liverpool in general then out of the blue he mentioned that he was actually swedish but lived over here most of his life and that he was a journalist for a swedish organisation that main objective is to report the Enlish premier league and he came out with and he stated that it was only a rumour but it is believed that Kenny Dalglish will move inti the dof position and that Rafa will return but he did he did say he didn't know how true that rumour was.
Just saying what I heard basically..........Evers

Not a chance

It is a no brainer that if Kenny steps aside or upstairs that they have to at least speak with Rafa considering his record and his knowledge of the club, city and desire to return - how many managers with his CV will want the Liverpool job after this season? Mourinho? Capello? Hiddink? Scolari?

I have heard that the owners want Rafa to take charge of the club and it could happen as Kenny and Rafa have a very good working relationship.

This story starts off as your standard trasnfer rumour then begins to sound like you've been reading The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and wanting to shoehorn in a random Swedish journalist to make the story more exciting (unlike the book, where said journalist is a main character. But I digress).

Must try harder.

TSP

There's a lot of validity to it. Rafa with KK might be a real bit of sense. has a great eye for talent and if given the proper backing he would be my choice if KK goes upstairs. I hope KK is treated with the dignity and respect he deserves and The Rafa haters don't start off again. The final piece for me would be Paco in with kean moved on to the academy and have him with rafa and Steve Clarke.

Chi-Paul

Would love to see rafa back.....the man has so much knowledge and love for the club,city...he doesnt mind having a go at SAF...

I live in sweden, and to my knowledge there is no such thing as a footballmagazine exclusively about the Prem...

I really, really hope we do our utmost to get hoillett in. He will be free, looking for a move after blackburn's relegation. His wages will be far from astronomical. The only reason I can see of us missing out on this huge talent is not trying hard enough to get him. Eds, what do you think of hoillett and our chances to get him in?
Also, great job to you and macca. {Ed022's Note - I've profiled Hoilett mate over on www.player-profiles.co.uk - I also say where he's most likely to go etc. Have a look mate.}

Technically, he won't be free - as he's under 23, if Blackburn offer him a contract, they will be entitled to compensation, even though his contract has expired

06 May 2012 19:28:09
Ed I know you said that we are looking for a winger. But don't we need two wingers since downing is doing poor this season and also since we don't really have a true right sided winger? {Ed022's Note - We are looking at both sides.}

Looking but no chance liverpool will be buying 2 this summer there aimt going to be major investment and striker rught winger cm and left back so we would be talking 5 players again doubt it unless downing was sold which aint going ti happen although i wish but whos going ti qant ti buy him

06 May 2012 19:27:53
Hi eds love the site , just wondering , ive looked on wikipedia and it says that yesterday lfc signed gaston ramirez for a fee of 16.3 million , is this true ? Thanks a lot
George Thompson
YNWA {Ed022's Note - No it isn't. Right now I could go on Wikipedia and change every page on there to something utterly ridiculous. Just ignore it mate.}

Thnx ed what about the podolski to arsenal one
George Thompson {Ed022's Note - That's been confirmed already mate, after we Eds have been saying it around 4 months.}

Why don't people ever listen, Wikipedia is not a good/reliable source

Just checked Wikipedia. Apparently Liverpool have just signed Messi and have an agreement in place for Ronaldo. Combined fee of just £35 million. {Ed007's Note - I have said on many occasions that if it was on Wikipedia my house was on fire, I would wait until the hairs on my ar5e were getting singed before phoning the fire brigade.}

Never believe Wikipedia mate

Can anyone else smell burning?

06 May 2012 19:15:11
edds do you think the mitchel brothers (jonjo shelvey,jay spearing) will be here next season?
adamlfc {Ed022's Note - Jonjo will be, Spearing probably wont. Jonjo could be loaned out though, but will remain a Liverpool player.}

Why are you calling them mitchell brothers? {Ed022's Note - They're both bald...}

You think spearing may leave ED? {Ed022's Note - Yes.}

Jonjo dose have class to build on but spearing is small fat slow cant attack cant defend cant dribble cant pass an his ball control an tactical awareness is poop and he gives other teams the confidence to go around him an they do an our defence lose faith in the team. he defo needs to go

Really ED? why would he leave? {Ed022's Note - Spearing would leave because he isn't good enough for a top 4 side if Liverpool really want to challenge.}

Whilst I admire Spearo's determination I have to agree he is not really up to the task. Having said that I am still unconvinced that Lucas is and as he has had a major injury I think there is a serious doubt about him returning to his best.This leaves us needing 2 DM,s

Stop having a go at young Spearing he will become a better player in time I think he's done a good job this season

To the last post u say Spearing will become a better player in time, you make it sound like he is a youngster. Hes 24 this year. Only a year younger than Lucas and two years older than Kelly. Gerrard was about the same age when he dragged us back from 3-0 down in Istanbul, can you see Spearing doing anything like that any time soon. What should we do keep paying his wages until hes 30 incase he has a good season.

Gaz

Haha well said gaz

06 May 2012 19:06:24
Surprised his name hasn't been mentioned but what are the chances of Götze as he's seemed to have dropped off everyone's wishlists? Cheers Ed {Ed022's Note - No chance mate. Goetze wouldn't even consider Liverpool.}

Gotze signed a new contract mate til 2016.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

He recently signed a new contract until 2016. That's why he dropped off everyone's wish list.

Kieran.

06 May 2012 19:04:30
I have heard we have shown interest Aaron Lennon. Can any of the Eds confirm this. {Ed022's Note - Nope. No interest.}

06 May 2012 18:27:19
laurent blanc must be a contenter for the liverpool job as he is stepping down as French coach after the euros and look at his stats in management 60% win ratio with france and bordeux plus he is a good man manager and is decent in the transfer markets.

A former man united player i dont know about that

And he has Inter Milan after him, he is one of the most sought after managers in the world!
He's not a contender, it's just plain unrealistic
Dan

What Liverpool job?
There isn't a job to be a contender for at the moment. And to be honest i dont there will be.
SA

Bielsa is going to Inter

Why don't you have a little bit of respect for the present manager.

I agree Kenny deserves some respect but there is a strong possibility he will be stepping aside so people are entitled to "guess" who might replace him.
CR

There have been a number of rumours that Blanc is Ferguson's choice for the United job when he finally retires (although I can see Ferguson dying in the job, he still has the same fire as always). Not sure how strong they are, but still.

Ed's do u think that we will,sign players that they're team has been relegated. And if so who? {Ed002's Note - I can't think of any.}

Hoilett from blackburn maybe?

JanBorman {Ed022's Note - Profiled him!}

I'd take Holden from Bolton is we are after a replacement for Spearing. And if Bolton are, as my dad used to tell me when I was little, regulated. Add Lee to that as well.

TSP

TSP {Ed022's Note - Holden is a fantastic player.}

Exactly mate, it's a massive shame for him that he has both legs broken in such a short space of time. He is a player that could push the American team onto another level, provided they dig up a new keeper to replace Howard from somewhere.

TSP

06 May 2012 18:15:42
Hey Macca are we interested in younes Behlanda and had there been anything contact with his club from Liverpool?

Ed wats your views on it? {Ed002's Note - You asked for Macca's view - so I have obviously left it for him to answer.}

06 May 2012 18:00:09
Rafa Benitez will be named the new Liverpool manager just before the Euro's and Sami Hyypia will be his number two.

I have never hoped something was truer in my life.

God help us

I'd love this to happen as i thought rafa did a good job and it only when pear shaped when them 2 cowboys came, but i just can't see him returning

Heard something similar from a fella at the match yesterday who said that when FSG were over recently to bin Commoli they had a meeting with Rafa at the hotel where they were staying. Fella said that his mate had been at the hotel and saw Rafa with them. Just passing on what I was told

Sorry I can't see it happening. Not with a DOF he'll want complete control of transfers. Plus i believe he took us as far as he could, I reckon Kenny will stay another season, next season will be better, then a younger manager will take over possibly Rogers, Lambert or a young foreign manager.

"I'd love this to happen as i thought rafa did a good job and it only when pear shaped when them 2 cowboys came, but i just can't see him returning"
How can you see that? We had our best season (finishing 2nd 4 pts off Manu) while those 2 "cowboys" were there.

That would be a disaster he ruined the club

Thats a decent shout carra will be hanging up his boots soon to and with carra and hippi both coaching our defence they could be soild i posted on the banter page RTR07YNWA bout rafa would love to see him again still lives in the area has a lot of love and respect for the club and is loved by the fans we can only hope

I think you'll find Hicks & Gillett ruined the club not Rafa mate

Hoefully rafa will come back cos keny is out of touch with todays football as this season has proved , we are rubbish at the minute

Ok, so winning champions league,playing in semis and quarters regularly ,fa cup,record runs in league,bringing the dream youth team of today,reserve coaches,world class proven players,with no support from the owners and little money,bringing kenny back etc seems ruining the club to some fans..
God help these so-called fans ..
P.s. I have enormous respect for kenny but he did his best with extreme support from the owners & fans & the results are for all to see.

We can only dream...

Why is Rodgers even being mentioned? your turning your nose up at a 2 x la liga winning, champions league winning, UEFA cup winning manager (Rafa) for Brendon Rodgers.....whats Rodgers done in football?....got Swansea to midtable. Capello in or Rafa back, we need a proper manager that knows how to compete at the highest level. Rodgers...get out of here

And after '08 when the money dried up and the cowboys started the asset stripping. It was the cowboys that ruined the club not Rafa. I have no doubt that if Rafa had been left to run the club as he wanted we would of gone on to great things. Under Rafa we Won Champions League, Fa Cup, Runner up in Champions League, Runner up in League Ranked number 1 in europe around 08/09. He brought in Reina, Alonso, Agger, Skrtel, Johnson, Arbeola, Lucas, Mashcerano, Torres, Garcia and don't forget he also brought Kenny back to the club.

God I hope so.

Rafa took over a side that was already an established Champions League team, which had a squad of very good players, with an excellent backbone consisting of a prime Stevie G, Carra & Sami.

Kenny on the other hand took over a team from Roy Hodgson that was in serious danger of getting relegated. The squad needed major rebuilding (and still does) Gerrard & Carra have had injuries and are past their prime, our top striker Torres also jumped ship. What we have now is a team in transition, but we have still managed to get to two cup finals, which is slow progress in my eyes. Give Kenny another season and let's see what happens. I suspect our league form will improve considerably next season with some decent additions to the squad in the summer.

I have massive respect for kenny don't get me not only on the pitch but off it to the man is a legend (knighthood) but he is so far from modern day football its killing him slowly rafa is a great shout and i reckon giving the chance he'd jump at the chance to have another crack at fergie he's still lives local providing he's giving full rain of the club he could take us back to the top where we belong yeah at times his football was slow and boring but did we not get 3 points at the end of the day chelsea's first title was won by the odd goal jose didn't care if it was ugly still won them the title ed's is the torres rumour true about coming into the dressing room after the game or we having our legs pulled ?

RTR07YNWA {Ed022's Note - I personally think it's a lie.}

We were never in any danger of getting relegated under Roy, he was bad not that bad jesus! when Kenny took over we were 12th maybe 4points above relegation spots but don't make things up!

Rafa won the Champions League win Djimi Traore in the side, enough said! Also Rafa has the know how of taking LFC to the biggest clubs in European football and getting results, KD has no experience of doing this in his managerial career, football has changed, since he took Blackburn to the prem in 1995, KD is out of his depth and is not tactically astute.

And will Rafa pay back all the compensation he got when he left .?

No hope of Alonso coming back if that happens!

Kenny took over a team that was well and truly on it's arse, when no other manager in their right mind wanted to. End of.

Kenny Dalglish is staying so get used to it. He is defo the right man to take Liverpool forward. So don't talk nonsense

Haha is it April 1st again so soon?

If Benitez takes over then you can forget about signing ANY of the exciting young talent we have been linked with. Added to that Raheem Sterling and our other up-and-coming young stars will never make it out of the reserves. Consider that when you next try to champion the cause of Rafa and his over-inflated ego.

Rodgers is a cracking young manager who ever can't see that doesn't know much about football.
Every manager has to start somewhere and he has taken a Swansea side not long promoted on little money to midtable.
From what I have heard the owners would be looking for a young manager to build a dynasty and stay for longer than a few seasons, getting a big, established manager is only likely to stay for a couple of seasons then move on to the next job.

Sorry mate sterlings been at lfc for three /four years bought in by rafa and kenny when rafa bought kenny back if I'm not mistaken .

Rafa gave robinson his debut.Youngest ever player to play in the seniors.Might be wrong but don't paint it black that the youths (that he re-organised) wuouldnt get a chance. Didnt he also play coutinho a lot at inter?
galls

Sometimes I just don't understand why so many fans seem to blame Rafa for the club's downfall. He did buy some of the best players that have played for the club the past 20 years. Ok he messed things up with Alonso but besides that he took us back to the top of Europe and he would have won us the PL title if only C. Ronaldo had been sold to Madrid a year earlier. Remember how they won 11 games in a row in the spring 2009 and Ronaldo was the matchwinner in a lot of them.

There are 19 eejits who actally believe this

While Sami is the topic will he have a testimonial match ever?

100% truth. Also heard Kewell is coming back as a physio and Luis Garcia as a translator.

06 May 2012 17:44:46
Eds, I have heard that their could be three bids, two from the prem and one from abroad for daniel agger? it seems that hes disappointed with the lack of ambition? ed I'm sure its an easy rumour to dismiss? but please do if your 100% sure! it came from someone I would never of expected! {Ed002's Note - I know nothing of it. Sorry.}

Agger isn't going anywhere

Hope not, he is a class player. Another RAFA signing!

Daniel is very happy in Liverpool. If you dont believe me, go to his bar/restaurant on Lark Lane and ask him. He likes to spend any spare time he has in there.

Liverpool getting 20 million budget is complete and utter nonsense. Koptalk who the atricle originated is far from being reliable i am led to believe that the budget is not a soecific figure it depends how negotiations for certain players go i think it has been made clear its not going to be on scale of last year though it will be stil a considerable amount of course also depends on wages being lowered. I think the figure for players will be aroumd £40 mark. Loverpool are looking for 4 players this summer and more going out. I am in regular contact with members of the liverpool supporters trust i am only on here to give my information.

Not going to get alot for £40......

The article is not originated from Koptalk. It is from various media sources and Koptalk simply copy and pasted it as it is a news item about Liverpool {Ed022's Note - As they do with everything else.}

Why do people still read Koptalk, its run by a fat lying Geordie ( in no way a libellous statement ) who makes stories up and expects us to pay to read them.

"Not going to get alot for £40......"

Damn you beat me to it! :-)

06 May 2012 17:28:13
Kenny must stay, things will be much better next year with a few new signings and some more depth to the squad,tough year for us no doubt but have some faith,Rome wasn't built in a day, or the 18 months Kenny has had. We're a couple signings away from a fantastic team in my opinion.Heads up everyone,walk on.

Kenny has lost it, Rome wasn't build in a day but our Rome has collapsed badly we need to start build again. Close to bottom rather than top. Below Fulham & Everton,
Poor techtics, poor team selection... time to leave.. he can't even manage the big money flops....thanks Adios!

The most intelligent thing i've read on here for months. Well said sir.

I totally agree with u that Kenny must stay. We're not far from top 4 we could only win 3 cups this year we've win 1 and should have won 2 if it wasn't for a terrible decision. With a few signings and a goalscorer - Clint Dempsy and Adam Johnson would be s massive boost

Wishful thinking!

Dreamers all.Take off the rose coloured glasses guys.People talk about players needing time to settle in, what about Cisse and Jelavich and many more at other clubs.Our tactics,pattern of play, whatever you want to call it have been poor.The players do not seem to have confidence in them.There has to be changes off the pitch to restore hope on the pitch.

At last someone not talking out of their arse....well done, although a lonely voice in the crowd on here mate

One thing yesterdays game showed us is that the Liverpool team for the next 10 years can and should be built around Andy Carroll.
Back that up with Suarez, Lucas, Skrtel and Agger.
Add in Martin Kelly, the last couple of remaining years of Gerrard.
Then also look to get Sterling and Suso promoted along with a few other bright young stars.
We do need 2-3 world class players to move us to the next level. Just hope we can attract them.
I think KK will be given one more season.
I know the league form has been bad, but if you look at the number of times we have dominated teams and the amount of chances wasted, hitting the woodwork etc we are not too far away from being able to challenge for a top 4 place.
I have seen nearly every game this season and I think there are only about 3-4 that we haven't competed for and didn't deserve anything from.

In my opinion the spine of the team i a few years should be Agger, Skrtel, Lucas, Shelvey, Henderson, Carroll and Suarez (if he is still here).

And we should also move away from the traditional 442, 451 or 433. With Agger, Skrtel and Coates Liverpool can easily play with 3 defenders with Lucas covering. And there's only one man that would dare play with 3 defenders in this league. Martinez.

Finally an optimistic fan. i think your spot on. i cant see us hitting the woodwork another 30+ time, if half those go in next year i see us easily up in the top 5-6 near the end of next season+ also making a decent run in Europa league

The team should not and will not be built around Andy Carroll. Liverpool are building a system of play that will be played throughout the club, from first team right down to the kids just out of their nappies. It will be known as the Liverpool way of playing and started with Rafa and is continuing with Rudolpho and Jose. All teams will play a 4.2.3.1 formation and all players will have to fit into this system.

Not Suso surely and Lucas come on

Why would Martinez leave Chelsea?( surely he will be offered that job)
What magic wand are you going to wave to make the ball enter the net? If you stroll around passing the ball backward and side wards in your own half you are bound to have difficulty scoring, the opposition has had time to organise their defence and get players goal side.Chances then become half chances and defensive blocks and hitting posts etc become more common place.

Suso is probably the best player in the reserves. If anyone deserves the promotion it's him. And as far as I and many Liverpool fans (and other clubs from around the league. There's a Spurs forum thread from around the time he got injured expressing both delight that our midfield was losing such a valuable player and sorrow and not seeing him in action as he was such a good player) who consider him one of the best if not the best defensive midfielder in the league and one of the leading lights oof the discipline on the planet.

As for the trogladyte above me. Martinez is Wigan's manager, di Matteo is the ionterim caretaker at Chelsea. As for the chance creation, if the defence closes ranks then yes, half chances and blocks become more commonplace, but it generally helps your woodwook stats go up if you have a clear sight at the goal and can shoot. Just saying.

TSP

"Why would Martinez leave Chelsea?"

He wouldnt, because hes wigans manager!

Totally agree with TSP, Suso is a top player and would be superb for us. If KK is worth his salt he'd be playing more of the reserves in Carling Cup next season (if he is still the manager). He should then concentrate on the Prem and Europa Leagues.

To clarify, I was talking about Lucas in that first paragraph, as no doubt the brighter amongst you should have been able to tell. I apparently a word.

My thoughts excactly

Why is it that Liverpool always seem to be on the back foot in the transfer Market. Surely with the euro's fastly approaching we should be looking to get at least a couple of early signings in. If LFC want to progress next season, then they need at least 5 or 6 quality players. It has shown that spending big on Sunday league players, simply is not good enough. If they carry on with the culture of buying young English players, then top 4 will be a long way off are aim. However Europe will some interestbto some players, but not players with higher standards. I do believe thou that if we can get some early signings in, other players will follow. Come on KD and Co and get us some decent players which will give us a chance next year.

06 May 2012 16:23:36
Ed, what's the chances of Brendan Rogers being on LFC shortlist?
Good young manager who plays football the right way & likes pace & width in his team, something we are badly lacking.
Hope he comes, & if he does i hope he bring Joe Allen, Scott Sinclair with him.

Gav the Red {Ed002's Note - I have no idea.}

I don't understand the hype around Brendan Rodgers.

He broke promises at Watford to go to Reading; which he failed there. Then he walked in to the Swansea job, which already had everything in place for a bright future - thanks to Roberto Martinez.

Paul Lambert is miles ahead.

Stone YNWA.

He was rubbish at Reading.Not good enough for Liverpool me thinks.

Oh yes a championship manager and a chelsea reject...Thats exactly what we need...

He is second for my personal manager of the year award after Pardew. I didn't know about his track record and as such am able to see without bias that he got a fantastic young team playing excellent football through the playoffs and into a very respectable 10th place in the league, largely keeping the same core of players (although the discovery of Vorm was a masterstroke), whilst the team that finished first tried to strengthen for the Prem and are scrapping for survival. Too soon for him as a manager but definitely one to keep an eye on.

Hey Ed's, I thought id ask you seeing as you have a good insight on the club. What Rumours if any are there for players such as Labyad and Iturbe? I think they're both quality youngsters however I understand we're probably not interested in them... Also, how do you rate these players?

Cheers mate,
JS {Ed002's Note - Labyad will almost certainly move to Sporting. Iturbe will stay where he is.}

Hi eds when do you think the new D.O.F will be announced? Big Al N Wales {Ed002's Note - No idea, but there is no rush right now.}

I think we need to appoint a DoF as soon as possible as I assume the owners will want someone in place before bringing in our transfer targets. Although maybe the targets have already been identified but doesn't the DoF handle the negotiations? Anyway, think things need to be sorted out quickly so we have stability. Just my opinion though. Bex :)

Ed002, why would you say there is no rush right now? I would have thought the sooner we establish our structure and start to identify targets, negotiate and buy the players we need the better. I know the transfer window is not open yet but I would have hoped we wont til then to start the ball rolling. We could miss out if we do.

Kev the Red {Ed002's Note - The club continues to work whilst there is no one employed in that role. A lot of clubs (Manchester United, Arsenal) don't even bother witha Director of Football.}

I agree that work will be continuing behind the scenes despite the fact that we have no DoF at the moment & that other clubs don't employ one, but our owners have stated they feel it's important we have one. so surely they would want to fill the role quickly

I understand that work will continue behind the scenes despite the role of DoF being vacant & that other clubs don't employ one but our ownerx have clearly stated their commitment to having a DoF & that they feel it is an important aspect of their management structure. So, in light of this, surely they'd want to appoint someone as soon as possible? Especially with the transfer window coming up, when you'd expect the DoF to be heavily involved in negotiating for targets. But who knows! I suppose we'll have to wait & see what happens! Bex :)

Rush right now....Rush..is that a hint?

Hey Eds love the work you do.Just have a few queries
1. are most of you of the opinion that kenny will not be the manager next season ?
2. if we do get elm or another CM do you think spearing will be allowed to leave ?
3. is Luuk de jong our 1st choice ST target and gaston ramirez & matt philips targets for RW ? {Ed002's Note - I don't know what teh other think. I don't know of plans for Spearing to leave. There has been varying degrees of interest in the players.}

There better be plans 4 Spearing to leave. I don't care if anyone is interested...if we can't sell him, then send him out on loan. As much as I understand he's a Red & gives his all when he plays, without being mean, he's not good enough for LFC & certainly shouldn't be anchoring our midfield. We defo need to improve the quality of our squad for next season. Bex :)

ed 2 you have ruled out avb, if you had to guess 1 manager to take over who would it be? tanx

majestic69 {Ed002's Note - Sorry, I have given an opinion before on who I think would be a really good choice but as for guessing who it will actually be, I don't want to do that.}

Who in your opinion is a really good choice then Ed? Some may have missed it. {Ed002's Note - I think Girard would be an excellent choice but the FFF want him.}

Just wondering ED who did you give your opinion on ? I'm just interested is all

JP {Ed002's Note - See above.}

06 May 2012 15:48:24
Ed 002 I was just wondering, when you said that AVB has been offered a couple of other jobs and will take one, what were those jobs? Thanks,
MIKEYRED {Ed002's Note - There is an offer from Roma that I think he will accept if a couple of issues can b resolves and if another vacancy he would prefer is not available this year. He also has an offer from Spain that he does not care for.}

06 May 2012 15:48:24
Ed 002 I was just wondering, when you said that AVB has been offered a couple of other jobs and will take one, what were those jobs? Thanks,
MIKEYRED {Ed002's Note - He looks likely to accept an offer from Roma but I understand their are some matters to be addressed first which means it is not certain just yet. Another offer from Spain is not of interest to him but there is a potential vacancy that he would be interested in if it becomes available.}

What potential vacancy are you on about then? {Ed002's Note - It is unimportant.}

Valencia {Ed022's Note - Good player.}

06 May 2012 15:32:19
Hi Eds,is there a chance of us getting any players from Aston Villa if they get relegated? Cheers {Ed002's Note - I don't know of any interest in their players right now.}

Villa can only be relegated if they lose by 17 goals!

Yeah i heard Heskey is being lined up, supposedly we're going to offer Suarez, Lucas and Agger for him but it may not be enough so we may also have to give them Reina too

JP

There you see Ed...it's quality that wins the EPL. Changing manager may not be the only solution to our problems. We need a combination of quality and tactical nous. But Ed...do you really think the owners are ambitious enough? Are they really ready to wring the changes and invest further in this ailing institution called Liverpool FC. {Ed002's Note - Changes will be made if that is what they see is the best thing to do. I have no doubts about that.}

So... you want Liverpool FC to be one of the clubs that make football look not like a sport but like a business where the one with the most money wins?
I for one would prefer if we manage to prove that football is not all about money, as Newcastle were so close to proving.

Drigan

Someone who can communicate with players, and motivate them, makes all the difference.

To see what I mean, look at Chelsea.

If you don't have that in the dugout, it doesn't matter how much money you spend.

06 May 2012 15:31:09
Hi ed's gret job with the site, just one question, is it true that Fenway will only give £20 million for the summer transfers ? {Ed002's Note - I would not want to suggest an exact amount that they will spend.}

No koptalk talks complete s**te

06 May 2012 15:06:44
hey eds,
is gus hiddink in a job at the moment? if not then could he be an option?
cheers {Ed002's Note - He is older than Dalglish, in a well paid job, and not an option for Liverpool.}

06 May 2012 15:12:54
Ed002 - you seem very certain avb won't be lfc manager next season. Seems fair to think kd will probably be moved upstairs so why so certain - does he have another job lined up or do you know who lfc might go for if kd is moved upstairs? {Ed002's Note - You just need to accept AVB will not be moving to any club in England to take over this sumer. He has offers from a couple of teams and will be taking one of those.}

Yes Roma.

Yes Roma.

I dont know if I'm the only one that doesn't get something here, but one Ed says AVB would be a possibility because he/she thinks we'll be looking at a younger manager and another Ed says he will definitely not be LFC manager. What's right then?

06 May 2012 14:55:52
Martin jol is being lined up as r new manager: he will sign , dempsey, hunterlaar and luuk de jong! ??

2 strikers and one 2nd striker, good one!

Kuyt, bellamy and eccleston going duh!

He was suarezes boss at ajax

Why would he take the step down (from 8th to 9th in the PL) to manage Liverpool?

Gav

06 May 2012 14:55:39
Ed there has been lots of talk about AVB in the past couple of days and I was thinking you must of heard something. So what are the chances of AVB taking over from Kenny and is the deal already done ? {Ed002's Note - Andre Villas Boas will not be taking over from Dalglish - you will need to look elsewhere.}

06 May 2012 14:35:51
Ed...I agree with you that AVB could be the right manager for Liverpool. We need someone who has the tactical nous who can read a game and prepare his players for opposing teams. Do you think Steve Clark would stay on if AVB were selected? Thanks Ed. {Ed002's Note - It is irrelvant as Andre Villas Boas will not be taking charge of Liverpool this summer.}

06 May 2012 14:02:06
Hello Eds,
according to Kehl Lewandowski stays at Dortmund. If it's true, good for him and for LFC. {Ed022's Note - Fair enough.}

Winning team in Bundesliga and champs lge place this year would be stupid to leave

Who cares

So what

06 May 2012 13:55:10
We dont need wholesale changes but we do need certain positions fulfilled.

Worth Keeping

Reina, Agger , Johnson, Skrtel, Enrique, Coates, Henderson, Lucas, Downing, Belamy, Gerrard, Suarez, Carroll, Aqualini, Doni

Release/Sell

Maxi, Kuyt, Aurelio, Spearing, Adam, J Cole,

The youngersters except spearing can stil be brought into the squad

Now we are need of another winger, a central midfielder, attacker and another verstaile defender with 4 new additions just to have a better team let alone squad.

Worth looking at :- Gylfi Sigurdsson (Swansea) , Sinclair Or Dyer (Swansea), Junior Hoilett (Blackburn), Wilfred Zaha (Crystal Palace), and thats just to add a bit of youth and pace !

Agreed - very sensible email. But need to play better football all round

The thing is all the players u mentioned that are worth keeping play for smaller mid table clubs. Most of these players don't transition this to big clubs i.e downing,adam. We need to look abroad imo, British players are heavily overpriced for little return.

PD6

Agree with all the 'worth keeping' except for Aquilani. And the Swansea player Id like most is Ashley Williams.

Agree with all the 'worth keeping' except for Aquilani. And the Swansea player Id like most is Ashley Williams.

This will move us nowhere

All of the summer signings apart from bellamy enrique, carroll, suarez need to be sold none of them apart from the mentioned have done anythin and i watch them week in week out give the ball away cant shoot cant tackle etc. we need goalscorers and a couple of midfield maestros like we had in alonso and mascherano

Downing should be first out if the door...by far Kennys worst signing!

Really don't want us taking on players from clubs lower in the league than we are, or worse, from the Championship! We need drastic improvement not more average players.

Couldnt agree less on Adam. He has not been great but has raw talent just needs to get up to speed and mix with team, as for Henderson i don't care if he 12 years old he is the worst player we spent money on. Downing again has great attricbutes but need confidence to run at people

Not Spearing or Adam

06 May 2012 13:55:26
We are chasing Atalanta winger Mathias Ezequiel Schelotto.

No were not!

He's awful

06 May 2012 13:29:47
could we use kuyt in a deal to get luuk de jong or would he prefer to go back to ferynord? {Ed002's Note - Kuyt will not be used in any sort of deal for De Jong.}

06 May 2012 12:58:21
Hi Eds.

Do yous think, or have yous any info, to confirm if the recent rumours about interest in Clint Dempsey are genuine or just idle paper talk?

Thanks

MTC {Ed019's Note - Should Dempsey come up for sale there will certainly be interest from Everton, Spurs and a couple of German sides, plus possibly Arsenal}

06 May 2012 12:42:54
Hey eds, do you have any idea which left-backs we are targetting with Aurelio leaving (possibly), and Robinson headed on loan?

Drigan {Ed022's Note - Pablo Armero.}

Ed, Is he any good? {Ed019's Note - Sure}

Isn't he more of a wing back? He's played more advanced usually.

We have Enrique and Robinson for back up only one I can think of is Baines

06 May 2012 12:33:50
Torres was in the Liverpool dressing room after the match yesterday and did not celebrate with the rest of the Chelski team. Rumour is he wont to go back to Liverpool. He miss the team and the city and is willing to drop his wages to come back.

- BT

Think he just sulking cos he realised andy carroll is gonna be ten times the player he ever was

I would love to see el niño return but can't see it to be honest

Torres will in no capacity return to liverpool unless its on the team bus with Chelsea. He will not be sold by them and he is happy to stay there. He was left out of the team yesterday cos of the big drog due to his scoring record at wembly.

Why are people so stupid? Torres will never come back to Liverpool. Get over it.

You should have signed out with -BS not -BT.

I doubt Torres will stay at Chelsea to be sub. From what I understand, he was put up for sale in January.

K then im pretty sure i seen torres celebrating when chelsea won yday sooo fix up kid

K then im pretty sure i seen torres celebrating when chelsea won yday sooo fix up kid

All a load of b****cks

Not sure where this comes from that Torres didn't celebrate! I saw him celebrating with most of the team, ie Mata, Meireles, Terry etc, as well as with Di Matteo. He looked very happy about winning a medal & it's only natural that he went to say " hello" to players he played with for years.

Mmmm the smell of BS..thick and creamy! {Ed022's Note - Much like my...}

06 May 2012 12:32:34
Any idea when Liverpool will release photo's of the new Warrior kit for 2012/13 eds? {Ed022's Note - Apparently it's this Friday at 00:01.}

It is ed, confirmed on lfc official twitter

Home Kit - red & gold
Away - black & grey
3rd - purple, but like Reina's keeper kit purple.

Just thought I would throw this out there: Does anyone else agree that we need a replacement for Gerrard now, and not groom a kid for 'later'. If you take away his glamorous history and just judge him on his performances this year, he is an average midfielder. I realize he came off a long term injury, and I also realize he isn't played in the role he excels at, behind the striker. However, aside from hat trick vs. Everton, he has been the best of a very weak midfield. Nothing more. Please don't label me as a Gerrard basher. I have three jerseys with his name on them. I think he is too old to get back to his former brilliance, and while I think he has something to add for the next 3 - 4 years, he should be fazed to the bench. Otherwise, we will be bashing him soon like we do Carra.

I am not convinced Henderson is that player. We need a midfield maestro to dictate play and burst into the box. No point dropping names. There are several available. None like Gerrard, but probably no one ever will be.

Canada Red

Thank you... Finally someone speaka about how poor gerrard has actually been. Personally i think he is a leader but only buy leading through play and dragging the team up. His not the type of captain shouting orders etc... We need to replace him and no henderson and gerrard should never be uttered in the same breath. The will be no other gerrard fact. But we can get someone in the same mould young. Then phase him into the bench slowly as like you said the last thing we need is fans bashing gerrard.

The same Gerrard who was our best player yesterday?

The same Gerrard who has taken on the midfield holding role in the absence of Lucas and Adam?

Why not try watching the games and not just looking at the scoresheet.

Gerrard is not the player he was but can still make a positive contribution, its not fair to say henderson is not good enough. The poor guy has played out of position constantly since he has arrived he is a central midfielder. Liverpool looked alot better yesturday when carroll came on to the pitch but at the same time, when henderson moved to centre mid, we looked more composed and were winning the midfield. Centre mid is henderson position, thats where kenny needs to give him a run!!

Without Lucas and Adam, Gerrard is afraid to play further up the pitch, as was seen yesterday. Lucas' injury has had a detrimental effect on the team, we just cannot cope without him. Our most important player imo.

As for Henderson, you'll end up eating your words.

Truest thing i heard in a while

Agreed. I personally think the whole squad needs a major overhaul and not just "tweeking" as some (Gerrard himself included) has said. With regard to Stevie's replacement, I quite like the look of Kevin Strootman from PSV, he'd be a cheaper alternative to someone like Javi Martinez.

Hendo is that person at the age of 21 or 22 you are already righting him off thats poor

Who do you suggest??

Although he isn't the player he's used to be he is still a very important player on the pitch. He still has 2 or 3 seasons in him, then I suspect jonjo and Henderson will step up.

One of our major problems at the moment is that Gerrard is needing to cover the defensive mids and try to get forward. 12 years of 60 games a season has taken its toll on his legs and he is not the driving force he was but he would do a great job in front of the back 4 with his reading of the game and passing range. Bring in 1 centre mid of good quality and promote suso and texeira with Shelvey and let hendo play his box to box centre mid role which he is clearly best suited to. With Lucas coming back with a bit of luck, we may have a midfield that can get a foothold in a game.
Simon

Henderson = Lucas 4 years ago. That lad will come good; when he got into the middle of the park we dominated the midfield and we were incisive. Pop your words in the fridge cuz you'll eat em later!

Gerrard and Skrtel covered the most ground of all the players on the pitch yesterday...Gerrard had to help cover the back because Spearing and Hendo weren't doing enough...he would then try to start something on thewings because Downing wasn't going forward...and then he would appear in the forward third because he'strying to score for us...based on yesterday's match, if Gerrard is to be replaced then every single player on our team should be replaced...

I honestly don't see Henderson as Gerrard's replacement - Shelvey or Suso are the players that I'd earmark for that role. Henderson is better playing deeper - not as deep as Lucas, but not as far forward as Stevie. He'll prove a lot of people wrong, just as Lucas did.

Not having Lucas has really been detrimental to our season - his injury has forced Stevie to play as the holding player, because he doesn't seem to have faith in the likes of Spearing or Henderson yet.

Gerrard still got it so dont no what most of you are on about the only thing is his shots there not as good as they use 2 b....gerrards a game changer if lucas wasnt injured then gerrard would be up top firing goals but for now he has to sit back as hes the only mature and experianced midfielder on our team

Gerrard best player yesterday? No way mate. Carroll, Henderson, Suarez, from #1 to #3. Gerrard was around #6.

TSP

Gerrard is over his best and this thread is right. However, with a great holding midfielder i think gerrard can shine again.
Yes he was out best player blah blah but not the same player latley that use to boss our games, but think he doesn;t trust his fellow players to track and concequently being hold in defensive role rather than getting forward
gareth

Well, this is a hot potato! But I agree with you. Some fans are far too loyal & emotionally attached to Gerrard because of the player he once was, exactly the same scenario that exists for Dalglish! Those days are gone and they are no longer contributing what they once were. That's life and we have to accept it, as should they.

06 May 2012 12:10:01
Ed, do you know much about M Olsson the left back playing for Blackburn? Think he could provide good competition for Enrique. Now is also a good time for Robinson to go out on loan to get some experience playing week in week out. {Ed022's Note - Robinson will be on loan next season, as Liverpool have held talks with Aston Villa regarding this. I know a little about him, and if Blackburn are relegated then it could be an option I suppose, but very unlikely.}

06 May 2012 11:57:33
hey ed022

do you think these are realistic targets that could happen? thanks

soldado
muniain

keep up the good work {Ed022's Note - Yes these are targets, but to get them both may not be realistic. Possible, but not realistic in my opinion.}

06 May 2012 11:55:17
hey eds, just a quick question, everyone slates andy carroll because of his attitude and work rate on and off the pitch, but after his performance yesterday i believe he can come good, just wondering whether any of you eds know if his attitude in training etc has changed over the last couple of weeks?

thanks if you can answer :) {Ed022's Note - I have heard things that he has been doing extra work, staying behind longer after training etc. However, the issue really are such trivial things. His diet is that of a 40 year old drunk. Kebabs, take-away etc. He always seems to blow his wages in the casino's also, and in all honesty it's been said that he's just bored. In Newcastle he had all of his friends and family etc, now he doesn't really have many people so just does silly things really. Nice bloke overall though.}

Hey eds OP again, do you think these trivial reasons may cause him to be sold, or do you think he is sensible enough to make changes to his current lifestyle?

thanks again :) {Ed022's Note - I think with the recent passion he's put into training etc it'd make people think twice.}

Should his team-mates not then take a bit of responsibility and help him out of the trainin ground ?

Sounds like you have been reading the daily mail a bit too much ed022! Do you really think Andy Carroll eats kebabs every night and heads for the casinos on pay day?! Give me a break, the lad just doesn't have enough natural ability to play a pass and move game thus he gets exposed leading the line for Liverpool. Us Liverpool fans can be so fickle, we were all slating him all season and he puts in a very good half an hour yesterday and ye all expect him to score 30 goals next season. Give me a break.
The Gooch

With so much money invested in Carroll it might be a good idea to keep a closer eye on his diet surely the clubs doctors or nutritionists could tell if he has been abusing his body with kebabs everynight and if he has, keep fining him until he gets the message

IF Carroll lacks the maturity or motivation to look after himself, he cannot perform at the highest level of sport, because the mental aspect is as important as physical. If that case, he will always disappoint, and we need to sell him ASAP.

There have been many such wasted talents, most notably Gascoigne.

Every man and his dog watching Luke de Jong play yesterday. I guess we snooze and we lose again will be the story here. Eds can you tell me what is the point in scouting a player if we wait so long to even begin talks. And by the time every one else comes to the table he has a lot more offers to turn his head than he did 6 months ago. Is this the only area we are consistent in losing out on young talent? Surly 13/14m + mutt would have swung it? Dave {Ed022's Note - I have no answer to that really mate. I can only assume it's because the scouts want to make sure the player they are about to sign are actually up to the job, so spend ages monitoring him before doing anything.}

Well then ed why did they not do the same with henderson and downing {Ed022's Note - They used a slightly different approach of Statistical Analysis with Downing, and as for Henderson, they were scared United were going to get him.}

100% agree with Ed there. We need to make sure that the player is 100% up to the job by watching many of his performances rather than basing the signing on 1/2 good performances.

It's a joke.... Missed out again

Lets just go and buy Heskey back for 42 million an get bent an other crap whilst we are at it.

Rumours are that Chelski and Man Utd are now scouting him. We find them, Chelski buys em!

Who is Mutt?

Was meant to be kuyt not mutt. Lol

ED001 i dont know if you remember i think around December time i asked you how my mate Jerome Sinclair was getting on in the youth team and you said you would keep an eye on him,he say's he is doing well but i am wondering if you have seen him play this year?

PRR8 {Ed022's Note - 001 is unfortunately away for a few days fighting crime in the backstreets of the Devon district. But I will pass this on for when he makes his return.}

He's broke through into the u18s side and looks like what we need I for one am very impressed with him

Jerome sinclair cum on 4 lpool reserves 4 adam morgan when played westbrom he played well still needs to learn his trade better

Ed001 is a superhero!?!?! He must be on the avengers! {Ed022's Note - I can neither confirm or deny this is the case.}

06 May 2012 11:09:45
Not a roumer but question, all the talk about a DOF did we ever have one before comolli? And is there an absolute must that we need one ? Thanks {Ed022's Note - There is no ruling that states we MUST have a DoF. However, the owners want one and that's all that matters really.}

06 May 2012 10:40:16
Ed, if Kenny steps aside. Do you have any idea who could be on the shortlist to become next manager? If we get Tixi Bergiristain as DOF, what would you think if he promoted Rodolfo as manager?

Thanks

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96 {Ed022's Note - I have no idea who would be on the shortlist mate, and Rodolfo isn't actually a bad shout. He's very sound tactically, good man-manager etc. I've never considered it before but a very good shout mate.}

Brilliant! I've been thinkin this a long time, I like Rodolfo, sound to talk to, calculated and passionate! Would be a great first team manager.

He didn't pass up the chance to go back to barca in the hope of one day managing LFC reserves.

ED002 Has Emery agreed to go to Spartak? {Ed022's Note - I believe that there have been preliminary discussions.}

What was he doing playing Spearing yesterday? what was Reina doing with the first goal? why did it take 60 minutes to start playing! Why has Enrique lost so much confidence. That was a game we should have won!

06 May 2012 09:53:34
Morning Ed did the owners go back to usa or they still in uk. Any decision they took about DOF or manager. Any new news abt ramirez and elm. Thanx {Ed022's Note - None at all, and I have no idea where the owners are.}

06 May 2012 10:04:33
My question you ed. Now all of you say we don't have money pay for the players like hoguain kaka ozil etc. So now I go back when the owners bought Lfc. What were the reason we chose Fenway sports. I am pretty sure there other bidders who had plenty of money to spend. Thanks for the reply
Gr8 1 {Ed022's Note - We chose them because they had proven winning experience with the RedSox etc, they had a strategy in place, the money injection to wipe out our debt as well as supporting the manager and were just genuinely good to work with people, as well as other reasons. You have to understand if we got owners who own oil farms bla bla then they'll be lovely in the short-term, but absolutely destructive in the long-term, as City will find out.}

Yes, that's one possibility, but the other side is Chelsea.. look at how oil farms turned them around, and they are now cemented in the top. If we had such owner candidates, I would've gone for the risk. But the truth is, City's a bit too much.
PJ

Did PSG's new owners try and buy Liverpool ???

Well said Ed022

I don't understand what your talking about... I love Mr Henry, he may not be very rich but he owns a massive sporting portfolio, which shows he knows a lot about the business. Personally I wouldn't swap him for anyone.

06 May 2012 10:03:11
Morning Ed. Have you got a player profile on Younès Belhanda yet couldn't seem to find him on the list. I think he could be a good alternative to Eden Hazard and maybe a better prospect from what I've seen of him?
thanks Skurks {Ed022's Note - He will be the next player profile mate. I may get it done tomorrow, but these things unfortunately take some time.}

Yeah I understand mate. Brilliant site by the way keep up the good work.
Skurks

Ed could you do Neymar aswell possibly? I suggested it on the page! cheers.

BLANCO7 {Ed022's Note - Yeah I will do at some point, but Neymar to me seems a little futile.}

Why does everyone keep questioning Belhanda's availability? He's winning the league with Montpellier, arguably as their best player- why would he come to us?!

06 May 2012 09:59:22
ed how much debt are liverpool in {Ed022's Note - Not as much as many other clubs.}

Haha best answer ive seen on here in ages ed22 :)

The next boss will be either Martinez, AVB or Emery.

The Mole

Martinez will be at Chelsea, Emery I believe has just taken a new position (or was it a new contract?) so according to you it will be AVB who failed at Chelsea. Mmmm.

Emery gone to Spartak Moscow
Martinez will surely get the Chelsea job.
CR

None of them cut it for me not proven enough IMO. Benitez i'd prefer back before any of them.
Skurks

I wish everyone would be quiet about new managers coming in. Dalglish is here to stay and he deserves to stay as well. We have moved forward a lot under King Kenny

What are you lot on about? Roberto Martinez will be at Chelsea?? I think you're thinking of Di Matteo lads.

Moved forward ? what planet are you on ? worst league position in nearly 60 years, a lucky carling cup win and a defeat in an fa cup final ! pardon me for not sharing your view, put sentiment aside and you will see kenny's methods are out dated , someone with modern ideas and philosophy please !

We moving forward relegation instead top so where is this improvement you are talking about? kenny is outdated! if that would be any other manager you will want him out so why keep kenny? We need some young hungry mamanger

I personally am really tired of people having a go at Kenny and also saying AVB is a bad manager because he failed at Chelsea and then in the same breath asking for Rafa back, even though he failed at Inter.

Make up your minds. Firstly a manager doesnt become bad over night because they had a bad experience with one club.
Secondly i believe Kenny deserves another season at least, he's had one and a half seasons brought alot of players who in my opinion are just starting to come good, Henderson is improving, so is Carroll and Downing, Adam hasn't exactly had a full season has he.
Give them time. And before anyone says it I backed Roy while he was here I was one of the ones that said give him time. I am not sentimental i am a realist and if Kenny did go i would be happy with AVB.

Ed, are we looking at these:

A Striker
A Winger(s)
A Centre Midfielder

For strikers are these realistic: De Jong, Soldado
Wingers; Isla, Susaeta?
Centre mid: Elm, Ramirez? {Ed002's Note - Isla is not really a winger but they are all players that the club has shown an interest in.}

Do you expect signings to be made early? {Ed022's Note - Depends.}

Id take de jong because he wouldn't cost as much and wouldn't demand to play as much as soldado which allows Carroll to continue his development. Also de jong can play on the right like kuyt.

Depends on what? {Ed022's Note - On if the players wish to move before the Euro's or not.}

We need de jong in DM this would give lucas the freedom to join attacks.

Morning eds do you think reina will go in the summer if so I think we will gi for one of the following realisic targetss

yann SOMMER - fc basel
MYLAHOV - fc twente
Leno - leverkusen
Begovic - stoke
MIGNOLET. - Sunderland
Vermer - ajax
foster - wba
And there's a decent keeper for modgladbach cnt rememer his name

Just cnt see us getting a world class replacement uf he does leave so young upcomming keeper it will be {Ed002's Note - I don't know what will happen with Reina right now.}

Ter stegen, is the goalkeeper we need if Reina goes.

There is also a good keeper at Villa although he is 35.Still has a 2/3 years as a good prem keeper and should be cheap as AV only paid 5mill for him.

If Reina were to go I would love Musleira in our goal. Have we ever shown an interest in him that you know of ed's?

JanBorman {Ed022's Note - Not that I can recall.}

Ter Stegen is the only keepere we need. Almost as good as good as Hart is right now...

Reina MUST GO! if we are to secure a CL place nxt yr

Must admit that Reina has looked very shaky at times this season. The debacle up at Newcastle didn't do him any favours either. If a big bid from Malaga does come this summer, then perhaps we should consider letting Pepe go, as long as we have a good quality replacement lined up.

I really am embarrassed to be a Liverpool fan sometimes.....

Hugo Lloris

If Reina went id personally try for Vorm from Swansea {Ed022's Note - Same. All day long.}

06 May 2012 09:01:03
Hi Ed, is there a possibility that other premiership clubs are trying to hijack Luke De Jong? {Ed002's Note - There is interest from elsewhere, but hardly a hijack.}

06 May 2012 06:16:10
1. I get the distinct impression that the decision has been made for some time re: Kenny, and all parties are aware of it. I think he will step down at the end of the season, and make it known that it was purely his choice, he had full support of the owners etc etc thus allowing a deservedly dignified exit for a club legend.

2. Soldado should be our first signing.

I agree. For a while I have wondered why the players do not seem motivated; I think it is because they know he is stepping down.

06 May 2012 04:38:57
hey eds,if reina departs is there a chance of us getting wayne hennesy??could be cheaper as wolves are relegated and is tall and has made most number of saves this season(167 saves)..... {Ed002's Note - I really don't know.}

He supports everton so it unlikely

Be serious mate

He is not the answer to our GK question should Reina leave. He makes a brilliant save one minute then two stupid mistakes the next. Would cost us way too many points.

If Reina leaves, i would give Gulácsi a shot, he is a natural talent, gametime will make him one of the top keepers.

Reason he made most saves is because wolves were so bad they probably had the most shots against them this season, doesn't maske him a good keeper. no idea who we would go for IF reina was to leave but should definitely be looking for better than that

06 May 2012 03:43:41
Kenny Dalglish to step down after the week following the Swansea game.

Liverpool are lining up target managers, but nothing will be done until the DoF position is filled.

Stop talking nonsense

06 May 2012 02:31:10
Kenny will announce that he is stepping down as manager at the end of May to take a club position. AVB will be instated as manager shortly afterwards and will spend big in the summer to put together a team to challenge for the champions league next season.

LEE

Challenge for the champions league? He took an established champions league side out of contention to qualify for it

I still have a gut feeling that AVB was just not what they needed at the time and is a very talented young manager given time

Wake up mate. if Kenny did step down (which he said he never would). no manager would be able to come in a challenge for a title next year or for some time. at least 40 points off leaders one year. and there challenge next year. wakey, wakey.

AVB in eh? He didnt cut it at Chelski, has no record to speak of in the premier league, no affinity with the club and will want a similar salary to what he was on at Chelski ........why choose him over managers with more proven PL and CL records, (yes, like Benitez!), an appointment like that would just show how out of touch and inept the new owners really are.......i fully expect they will at least speak with Benitez over the managers job....they may decide not to appoint, but they would be foolish to overlook him!

Avb you must be havin a laugh.
King Kenny Dalglish to stay

It is because he was forced out by Mofo's like Lampard and Terry. People forget that Chelsea are a better side than Inter Milan yet Mourinho won the Close with Inter and not Chelsea, why??. It is because Inter Milan suits his style of management and the players always support hint even in times of defeat!. How can you say that because he was a flop in Chelsea he will be same if he comes here....

I'm not saying AVB is the man but the way all of you adore 'King Kenny' is laughable. GOOD GOD WE ARE 8th in the league will it take us to get relegated before people realise he isn't the man.

Well said, all this blind loyalty to a club legend is grating, he is an ageing manager with old ideas, get rid

Get rid? Got us to 2 cup finals in his first full season and won 1.
Yes our league forms been dire but how can you blame the manager for players not scoring. Look at the amount of chances we've had per game so you can you say it's the managers fault

06 May 2012 01:16:35
Hey Eds,

Just a few questions regarding Yann M'Villa, do u think he will leave this summer and if so, where? Do we have a chance?

Dont get me wrong Lucas has been great but i still think we need someone else. Apart from the likes of hazard, i think M'Villa could be the best signing for any premier league club. Lucas and M'Villa in CM would be amazing.

Cheers,
RedChris {Ed002's Note - M'Vila will move this summer and Arsenal might well be most likely to buy him.}

06 May 2012 00:55:23
Ed despite Andy Carroll scoring and doing well today, will we still be lookin to sign a striker. {Ed002's Note - Yes.}

Even with Carroll's top notch form recently we still only have 2 strikers. That's madness.

Unai Emery has just agreed to join Spartak Moscow

Good one

It does not seem to be confirmed yet, but it is mentions in laprovincias.es

Wikipedia is showing unei emery as a current spartak moscow manager.

Oh wikipedia has it, it must be true then! I could change Wikipedia and put myself as manager!
