Ed, if Luis does leave in the summer. Will it be because the owners want rid of him? Or he wants to go? In your opinion mate.

Thanks

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96 {Ed002's Note - I suspect time will have come to move on for his career. Things will be difficult here for him in England and he must be aware of the difficulties he has caused the club and the owners. A decent price at the end of the season and a move to Palermo or whereever might suit everyone.}

Palermo Ed? Could they afford him. After reading PSG's comments today, me thinks he's might be off there. What do you think?

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96 {Ed002's Note - Palermo are in good shape and have investment that will see perhaps 150M euros on the team this summer.}

I find it hard to believe liverpool fans think it would 'suit everyone' to sell one of only 2 world class players in our squad. I understand Suarez has brought unwanted press and embarassment on the club, but think it would be very premature and a huge mistake to ship him on because of it. From my understanding the club and kennys stance has always been that they feel Suarez is not a racist and they have said this publicly so they wouldnt get rid of him for that reason. The handshake situation was stupid on the players behalf but a line has been drawn under the matter. Players have been booed and given abuse before (Rooney, Beckham, Cole) and not looked for to another league because of it, and I dont think Suarez is the type of player to let him affect him, especially when the Liverpool fans support him so much.

Just my opinion ed002, but I disagree with you on this, think it would be a major mistake by the club to let him go!

He could want to go mate. He dosn't need all this hassle. He could move on to a different league and play, in the CL. I hope he stays but i've got feeling, he might want to leave.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Ps. Just my opinion mate.

Ive gotta agree with the guy who doesnt agree with ed. We need to keep hold of our better players. But if Suarez wants to leave then so be it. I just hope if he does leave we spend the money wisely on somebody of the same ilk or someone who bangs in goals for fun. I cant stand to see anymore mediocre players join our beloved club.

Arsenal fan hear
Suarez is by no means world class he is good but not world class liverpool can do much better he lets your team down on and off the picth he has no class as a man and I dot think many football fans would say he was a world class player
It would be good for LFC if he left and you got a fox in the box somone like bent who puts away his chances and you would then see the best of Carol with his hold/link up play

RG

Do eds or others think the (unfortunately shortlived) feel-good-factor after the Carling Cup Final might make any difference to whether he'll move on in a little way? Thought it was nice that the owners and Luis enjoyed it together and I'd hate to lose him personally. Great talent but shockingly immature. And that doesn't make him a bad person.

YNWA
TAYPOT {Ed001's Note - I don't think that is of any relevance, more relevant is his behaviour from now until the end of the season. If you spend more time on the sidelines than you do on the pitch, whether it is injury or suspensions, you stop being an asset and become a liability.}

RG I'm afraid you're clueless.

And I seriously doubt Suarez will leave. And certainly not to such a small club as Palermo.

Martin {Ed002's Note - You know nothing of Palermo then.}

I think Palermo are being given a bit too much respect by the Ed! They might have a good set up at the moment but they've never won Serie A and are hardly a club that compares with Liverpool - despite Liverpool's recent years of under performance.
I don't understand the concept that Suarez might feel fed up and want to leave. He owes the club massively. They stood by him massively and the onus is on him to repay that faith to the manager, his fellow players and the fans. The club need to bring in some better players to supplement Suarez rather than entertain the idea of selling him!

Just like how Man City have never won the premier league?

Sam Adzii JFT96

To the arsenal fan, you should worry about the outcome of RVP before you concern yourself about suarez.
a question for you. what makes RVP different from all the other foreigners who have jumped ship just as they've found unbelievable form coming up to the last year of their contract or have been allowed to leave at the right lucrative price at arsenal fc? adebayor, clichy, nasri, hleb, toure, fabregas, henry and an english ashley cole. i'm sure i've missed a few but you get my gist.

and then to my 2nd point, how many of these players once signing their new 'bumper' wages have continued their untouchable form? who's to say that he won't stay, get an extra 50k a week and go back to an injury jinxed striker in the financial comfort zone of his life.
just saying.....

s.p

I think we need to keep suarez but again if he wants to go then let him but we must command a fee in the region which torres was sold for, as i understand it Real Madrid have been linked to him well i would offer them the sap with higuain, and 15m, this way we would have a quality replacement and some cash to boot.

but in all honesty i would hate to see him leave he has been a breath of fresh air to liverpool and i would rather see Kenny leave than suarez.

i Know many people will disagree but i feel tactically we need a better coach.

And as for suarez not shaking Evras hand well he has that right not to so all the fuss about it is stupis as where is the fuss about rio refusing to shake suarez hand,

Man City aren't a big club yet. You have to win major trophies over a large period of time before you can call yourself a big club. They're a rich club. Anyhow - Palermo's wealth isn't in the same bracket as Man City's.

Lmao, Ed 02, would you please stop elevating Palermo or Man City(if you ever have) as big clubs. Like most people say, Big clubs are clubs which have a HISTORY. Man City's history is what??. Some League Cups ie Carling and FA??. What about Champs League which features what any person who has common sense will know, BIG CLUBS!!. Man City are a rich club, but to call them a big club would be the same as calling Malaga a Big Club, Anzi Machakakala(sorry for wrong spelling) a Big Club. Have Anzi ever even made it to the Champs League before??.
Suarez is 0% sure to leave for Palermo if he does make up his mind to leave whether Palermo is full of Uruguayans or God himself!!. We all know that Suarez is not money greedy and IF he even was, wouldnt he rather join a club like PSG who fair enough are big spenders of late but are actually more close to winning some silverware(Ligue 1 title) compared to Palermo who arent even close to winning a god damn title since the God was invented!!. Yes you are correct to say that Palermo may be interested in him but to say that they his likely destination should he choose to leave is as clueless as watching paint dry...
Nuff said, btw Ed 02, knowing that your a Chelsea fan, i just dont get it that you were actually chosen as an Ed, but anyways, thats not important. Its just my observation... {Ed002's Note - One of the major problems with this site is the embarrassment that is the ignorant fan like you who anonymously come and misquote others to their own ends. What have I said about Manchester City? Nothing. Where have I said anything about Palermo being a "big club"? Nowhere. Where have I mentioned anything about any "big clubs"? Nowhere. Where did I say Palermo was his "likely destination"? Nowhere. So what we have is your demonstrating an embarrassing ignorance of the game and the written word. And of course I realise that to save yourself embarrassment you can't put a name on your posts and flicking between IP addresses mean we can't ban you as you troll this site and abuse people like me who give up their time for nothing to keep it going. It would be perhaps possible to block all users from your country as we cannot block you. I will look in to it. Until then I guess I just have to put up with your constant abuse of me.}

eds, according 2 aquilanis agent, he needs to make 5 more appearances 4 milan after toda to become a milan player for 5mill. Surely he is worth more than that; around 8-10mill. {Ed002's Note - No. That is the price after deducting Liverpool's contribution to his wages in euro. About £4M net.}

He's not even worth talking about.
Kev7

Aqua's the kind of player we needed this season And to think hes going for 4 mill is shocking! Ill never know why we got rid of aqua the boy was class but was recovering from injury i dont think we gave him time when he first came, such a loss squad wise and money wise

Hi Eds

If Suarez was to go do you any idea (or opinion) as to what fee we would demand?

Cheers GJ {Ed002's Note - Try the search function - this has been dealt with exhaustively.}

£28m+

Can you just not give an answer instead of being sarcastic? {Ed002's Note - Would you like us to remove the search function from the Liverpool page? Cretin.}

No just give a answer that's free from sarcasm that's all and there's no need to be nasty as I was only asking {Ed002's Note - Where is the sarcasm? Why should we waste our time answering the same questions over and over again - it is why the search function exists. Why do the editors have to suffer time wasting morons like you?}

Ok thanks for that only asking. With 2 1st class honours degrees I must be a moron. {Ed002's Note - I guess. I can think of plenty like you with degrees who are morons.}

Ok fair enough

06 Mar 2012 21:38:50
Hi ed/s. Quick question on Aquilani. Why has he left the club? Club forced him out or was it his decision?

Reckon he's a quality player, but can't see him in a red shirt again.

Cheers {Ed002's Note - Try the search function - this has been dealt with exhaustively.}

Been reading the latest rumour on Christian Tello. Barca B striker who's twenty and has 12 months left on deal.

Does anyone know anything about him?

Jonesred

I've seen a lot of him recently mate as I try and watch all Barca matches and he's been playing because of their injuries. Tello is a fantastic young player. He plays on the left of Barca's front 3. He has bags of skill, pacey and seems to have bags of confidence. I'd be amazed if Barca let this kid go. He just seems like a perfect Barcelona player. Don't be surprised to see this kid sign a new deal with Barca, before the end of the season.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

He will not becoming as he will sign a new contract very soon as he has now played 5 times for his club

06 Mar 2012 20:59:47
Ed did we ever show in interest in Oxlade Chamberlain in the summer before he went Arsenal?

If we never why? Was he nailed on for gunners ?

Would fit clubs policy.

Jonesred {Ed002's Note - Many clubs looked at the kid but Arsenal was always going to be his preferred destination. Most other clubs were reluctant to pay the money being asked as well.}

Arsenal were also the club his Dad, ex-Pompey winger Mark Chamberlain, was pushing hard for him to go to.

He like Arsenal as he Know he have chance to play for their first team not Like Liverpool buy and keep until don't know what to do. we have good young talent in reserve too but kenny not even give them 10 minute.

He had no intention of moving far away from his family, on all accounts. With Arsenals youth policy and style of play it was the perfect move for him, both personally and professionally.

Psg billionere owner just said he wants suarez in the summer. Do you think we'll sell him ed's? {Ed002's Note - I suspect he will leave but Palermo might be a more likely destination.}

Suarez wont join palermo, why would he want to go to a club in a crap league. He has a great relationship with the owners and manager, that was shown at the end of the carling cup final, the owners gave a warming embrace to Luis, thats not the sign of a club who doesnt want the player.

Why would he go to Palermo stop scaremongering ed002 it's pathetic. {Ed002's Note - They have a lot of money, a good relationship with South American players and they are very ambitious. If the truth scares you then just skip over anything I write.}

Ed did you not see tabarez (uruguay coach) comment on suarez? He said that he has a great relationship with lfc and the owners and is definately not leaving {Ed002's Note - So the Liverpool transfer policy is now being directed by the Uruguay coach?}

I for one will not be happy with FSG if Suarez leaves. In fact I would be bloody furious as this would be a big step back for the club as we would seriously struggle to replace such a talent. Be warned FSG you will pee off a lot of supporters very quickly with such a move.

Exactly.
If Luis goes it would be OVERWHELMING evidence that shysters were at the helm.
I wouldn't set foot in Anfield til they were gone.

Lets face it, we're not even attracting international class players at the moment. To even consider selling an exquisitely gifted player like LUis would be utterly obscene. There again, he's just a commodity to smooth talking Henry and Co.

Its funny that people who dont support liverpool are the ones saying he will leave it would be a very big whole to fill if he was to go but i cant see it myself

Lmao, ED 02, to say that they are ambitious does not change the fact that he will NOT go to them. Truth be told he has MORE chances to go to Man Utd than to Palermo!!. Palermo have no history in the Serie A leave alone the Champs League. If they are ambitious, they would have already signaled intent like how PSG did when they bought Pastore off them, signed Gameiro and others. Im sorry Ed 02, but you are wrong there that his preffered destination is Palermo. More over you say that they have a good relationship with south american players. Well then in that case Liverpool have a good relationship with spanish players but why then did we not attract the likes of Mata to sign for us??. Yes they are rich, fact, they will sign Suarez, fiction!!. Unless you mean Matias Suarez that is, but then again, one thing about South American players is that they respect culture and history more than money... {Ed002's Note - Sorry I did not realise we had an expert on Palermo among us. Just ignore anything I write.}

{Ed022's note - brand new player profile on Seydou Doumbia of CSKA Moscow, linked with Liverpool in recent times. Profiles now have an added comment section to you can comment directly on players with your thoughts/banter with other fans. Thanks all. www.player-profiles.co.uk}

Doumbia is on such a high wage in Russia, I highly doubt he would come to us.

Hello Ed002,
is it possible that Liverpool will look to bring anyone from Chelsea in the summer. I know that Sturridge was mentioned but I think it won't happen, but perhaps the likes of Lampard or Terry as they look to be out of favour at Stamford. Thanks. All the best. {Ed002's Note -I don't think they will.}

Terry at our club?? Please.

Jonesred

Apart from mata and sturridge, there's no one we really need or would want due to age, form and prima donna attitudes. despite all his obvious errors AVB didn't stand a chance with the squad and the antics of the owner combined.

What a stupid question. Could you really see Lampard or Terry playing for LFC, absoultely no chance. Sturridge yes as he fits the tranfer policy, but I can't see it happening...

06 Mar 2012 18:47:02

Ed have you seen anything of him? If so is he any good?

Jonesred {Ed002's Note - Please don't keep cutting and pasting large articles you find on the internet. Read the other posts or use the search function.}

06 Mar 2012 17:02:48
eds is there any chance of liverpool luring lennon. Hes fast, creative, skillful and he can solve our rw problems. {Ed002's Note - Try the search function.}

You can cut out creative and skillfull part of that sentence, so basically he's just fast! and he has zero game intelligence and people really should know what he said about our club on youtube. I never want him near our club

Unfortunately Lennon's final ball is poor and he is inconsistent. That's why he's not a regular in the Spurs starting line-up.

06 Mar 2012 15:58:03
Are Liverpool looking at buying Mirroslav Stoch ed?
DeRed {Ed002's Note - No, he is quite happy at Fenerbahce.}

06 Mar 2012 14:29:18
I have a question for Ed002 regarding your comments about Eden Hazard. You stated that in your opinion LFC would not want a player that sees LFC as a stepping stone to another club, but I would like to point out that (and Im just playing devils advocate here), his position is actually in line with the club policy of buying young talent with a good resale value. It sems ironic that the owners are allowed to state this publicly to trade in players as a stepping stone to financial sucess, but that the players cant adopt the same attitude.

It might actually work in our favour that we agree beforehand to allow hazard to move on as a condition to him joining if a big enough fee was offered or release clause put in place. If he plays badly, no one will want him, if he plays well, he would undoubtedly help bring sucess to LFC. Sucess would attract other top players.

Im not saying he will join - Im just arguing the case for trying to get him despite his stated intention to move on.

{Ed002's Note - My understanding is that Liverpool always wanted players with a desire to play for the club, the badge or whatever. If that has changed then fine. My understanding of the policy is not for teh club to buy to sell per se, but to invest in younger players who will grow to be the successful players in the future. I think you are kidding yourself if you think the policy the club has is to find 35M euros from somewhere to spend on a player who wants to use the club as a stepping stone. You argument makes no sense to me at all. Sorry.}

Real clubs dont sell players at their peak.
It goes against everything LFC was ever about. Keegan was sold and replaced with a player nearly as expensive. Rush was sold ( seen as a mistake then rebought) during the European ban.
Until Michael Owen, it never happened again. Under the Yanks it happened all the time.

I keep watching LFC TV and I keep seeing all these players sold for a profit at their peak. How can fans have any attachment to "commercial assets" that keep getting sold on?

I can see the sense in his argument, if Ed002 or the person commenting above think players who 'play for the badge' really exist then you really are naive. Footballers are businessmen first and foremost these days. You could argue Torres played for the badge, he said and did the right thing whilst he was there, but left for money and the lure of trophies!

If Liverpool sign ANY footballer, they may SAY they are playing for the badge, but if Liverpool give them no reason to stay (in the form of trophies or a hefty pay cheque), then they will go. Every club is a selling club!

WRONG Real madrid, Barcelona and the top British teams are in no way a "selling club". Til the G&H era, most of our players loved the idea of LFC for life. Provided the club was at the level it should be.
The vast majority of our idols have been from outside Merseyside and never considered moving.
If we cant retain our stars, then we are no longer Liverpool. We are a feeder, an also ran, a nobody team.
20m fans say we are not.

What about when United sold Ronaldo for a £65M profit? If you don't think that's good for the club, you're mental. When it makes sense, any club will sell. If Man City offered £200M for Messi, Barca would accept... Messi wouldn't, but Barca would.

Rugby Parker

I would be perfectly happy for us to sign Hazard for 35m, for him to treat us as a stepping stone, and to be sold for 65m a year or two later.

Can you guarantee that will happen? Thought not.

Hence buying him for a vast sum is probably a stupid idea.

Real Madrid spend huge on players and they bring in huge money as a result.

Once the Mancs became a selling club they alienated even more of their fans.
Imagine if Lawro, Hansen, Dalglish, Rush and Souness were all sold at 25 yrs of age?

The top table clubs dont sell their stars and so they have 10, 15 or even 20m fans( like LFC have had).

Sell the stars and you sell the soul of a club. We're a football club, not John Henry's cash cow with mugs as customers.

06 Mar 2012 14:26:26
Hi eds, this jackson martinez rumour, does it have any legs? Worth a punt at 4-5mil isn't it? I know the final price will be more with wages n agent fees, but look at hernandez at united. What are your thoughts? Cheers {Ed002's Note - Sounds like recycled news. If Liverpool have a strong interest in Jackson Martinez January should have been the time to make a move. But I can confirm is that Villareal, Benfica, Porto and Sporting Lisbon have been interested in him.}

06 Mar 2012 13:31:12
Hi eds, what's the situation of shelvey? he had a good run during loan at blackpool and we recall him after lucas injury, but he lacks of chances when he is back, why? {Ed002's Note - Remember that Gerrard's injury was the reason behind his recall. He will see the season out as a squad player.}

Lucas' injury i think...
redkenyan

06 Mar 2012 13:36:49
Hi ed's would liverpool be intrested in Gregg Wylde as hes just been released by Rangers as they could do with another winger.
Cydsco {Ed002's Note - I doubt it.}

Having watched a lot of Scottish football, he's at best relegation championship level, not worth it at all... Wouldn't mind if he signed for Killie though.

Rugby Parker

06 Mar 2012 12:40:35
Hey ed's ,How is danny wilson doing on loan at blackpool? {Ed001's Note - apparently fairly well, I will have to get Ed003 on here to give us a report, he sees a lot of him after all!}

{Ed003's Note- He is doing ok,his first couple of games he had several lapses in concentration which was a worry but I would put this down to lack of game time,new surroundings and new partnerships,he has bought into Ollie's ethos of interchanging positionally and seems to be growing in confidence,I'd say 7 out of 10 so far.I hope that helps.}

Thnx ed's coz we live in south asia we get access to only top tiers league of the world so that helped {Ed001's Note - I will make sure 003 gives us regular reports for you on his progress, makes him feel useful, and at his age people like to feel useful!}

06 Mar 2012 12:47:29
There are rumours circulating about us going for Walcott - please NO, NO, NO, NO!!!

As a winger i agree with you, but play him as a striker and i think arsenal fans would regret forcing him out a few months down the line.

simon

06 Mar 2012 11:45:55
Ed,

I have something to clear from you, the other day you said you didn't expect us to bring in 4-5 players in the summer and it is time for evolving not rebuilding. But our squad is not complete yet, we lacks a natural right sided winger and a goal scoring striker. keeping this in mind we are also expecting some players from the current squad to leave, the likes of, Maxi, Kuyt, Johnson, Aurelio, Jones and Doni.

Don't you think if they leave we 'll replace them and bring in couple of players (not another 6/8 but probably 3/4)? or will Kenny promote the likes of Shelvy, Flanagan, Robinson, Ngoo to first team instead of buying?

I don't think spending around 35 million is not out of the question, the likes of Mathew Phillips, Luke De Jong & Ramirez won't cost more than 35M and they are players certainly we can get if we push for it even without Champions league football. {Ed002's Note - I think that the club will bring players in but the time has come that some of the youngsters if not promoted to being at least first team squad players will have to leave. Certainly if a replacement for the likes of Aurelio is brought in then it would not be unreasonable for the likes of Robinson to think he has no future at the club. The same is true for other, what may be considered, "senior" reserves such as Shelvey, Kelly, Flanagan. I appreciate that folks want to see many "big name" or "big price" players come in but there are dependencies that will drive much of the transfer policy for the summer - e.g. who actually leaves, CL qualification, Suarez going or not, retirements, injuries etc..}

Your spot on Ed, people need to get away from these big name forigners. Although it hurts to say it look at UTD, they are mainly made up of their own kids, and players bought from within the prmiership, usually when there young. And they are showing that you can compete for the title with this system. Yes Evra, Vidic, Hernandez were brought in but thats not what the policy appears to be based on, there in the minority really. Were 2 maybe 3 players short and thats it, next year all this years new signings will have settled in from the start and hopefully we will have a very testing competitive pre-season, for me marketing seemed to be the driving factor behind this one.
RNred

I agree with Ed002. The owners hinted some time ago that the future will come from within the club and that the days of big spending are coming to an end. Perhaps one or two young,promising players will be signed, and some of the old guard will disappear but the present squad will be strengthened by the so-called senior reserves. Some fans keep asking for Adam Morgan to be promoted but he is still very young and inexperienced even at Reserve level. This season 5 apps (2 goals),NextGen 7 apps (2 goals) and U-18s 15 apps (7 goals). His time will come but not yet.
Dutchmal

Ed,

Would this summer targets be realistic
Giroud ( He has a 16m euro buyout clause on Him)
Hoillet ( Hes a free agent in the summer)
Godin ( About 12m)
Hazard ( He is the player we need to create chances.)
Maru Isla ( 8 M)
.....................Pepe Reina.................
Isla...........Skrlte.......Agger......Enrique

.....................Lucas......................

....Hazard........Gerrard.........Hoillet....

.................Giroud.....Suarez........

What do reckon of next seasons starting 11?

{Ed002's Note - It was expected that Giroud would stay within France with a move to PSG but performances this season have seen Lyon, Marseille, Valencia, Newcastle, Villarreal, Arsenal and particularly Malaga show an interest. Nicollin discussed the interest in the player saying Newcastle were too minor a club and Arsenal would have to pay 50M euros, if not 60M euros for the player. The reality is that he will move for perhaps 20M euros in the summer. Interest at the moment is still being shown by Arsenal and Bayern Munich have made an approach to Montpelier. The player declared an interest in a move to Italy but much will depend on the price - I don't see Marseille being able to pay enough, nor perhaps Lyon. It is possible that Liverpool may become interested but at present I understand they are not.
I don't know of any interest from Liverpool in Hoilett at this time. Bolton, Spurs, Newcastle, Stoke, Arsenal and possibly Aston Villa and QPR have been interested - plus a couple of clubs from Germany, including Bayern Munich. I understand that Roma may press to have Hoilett sign a pre-contract agreement with them before Easter - which may spark further interest from Germany. The English sides are very much at a disadvantage in the chase for Hoilett now as he is in to the last six months of his contract and he can talk to interested parties from outside of England. Blackburn will offer him a new deal but I doubt he will be interested.
There is no interest I know of in Godin.
Whilst Real Madrid or Barcelona remain his preferred destination PSG, Chelsea, Spurs, Bayern Munich and Inter Milan are all interested to one degree or another. I said over the summer that I would not be surprised to see Manchester United through their hat in to the ring with Hazard as well. Chelsea have maintained a long-term interest but one particularly influential party at the club sees the player as having an attitude problem (primarily related to previously well-publised issues). However, Chelsea have recently discussed the player with Lille and a firm offer by Chelsea is still a possibility. Arsenal spoke with Lille before the last summer window and, I am told, proposed a "derisory number" and suggested taking the player would be a risk. Bayern Munich apparently remain very keen on Hazard but the player is seemingly not interested in a move to Germany. Inter would find the transfer fee too high and their only hope would be a part-ownership deal with some cash and a player or two moving to LIlle. Spurs are interested but may need the price to drop significantly to make a move viable. PSG would have the money available but again the player does not want such a move. I really don't see Hazard moving to Liverpool, Juventus, AC Milan or Arsenal for that matter, although with other clubs frustrated at his questionable attitude means it is getting harder to tell where he will end up so a move to pretty much anywhere cannot be completely ruled out. His constant speaking to the press and his recent statement that a move to England would be a stepping stone to Spain will make several clubs think twice about making an offer.
Isla may arrive to replace Johnson, but will need to prove his fitness after a serious injury.}

Think silva and sterling will be promoted in summer. and maybe danny wilson depending on how carragher feels about his carreer. and maybe suso.

When was there a period of "big spending"? Please elaborate. For more than 15 years we are underdogs to big spenders. Our transfer record in Benitez's era was Torres 20 mil, hardly a big spending compared to other teams. Also our spending relied too much on our incomes from player sales, for example since the new owners came we have net spend on first team players around 30 mil. Hardly big spending. Our policy is not going to work and we are about to lose years of CL football(the least, not to mention we have 0% chance for the title for the next 10 years)

06 Mar 2012 04:02:51
hi eds what is your opinion on susaeta of bilbao? i've been watching him week in week out over the last couple months and he is an excellent dynamic wing player with a brilliant cross and set piece. at only 23 could you see us going in for him?
cheers mik {Ed002's Note - No.}

06 Mar 2012 02:25:10
Why is everybody so quick to want to show the door to Dirk Kuyt? We're in Europe next season and need a full squad.

Through the Storm.

It's not just a case of show the door to Dirk. He wants more regular first-team football and I don't think that he's going to get that at Liverpool. I believe that there is a good offer on the table that would satisfy both him and Liverpool so I expect that to happen at the end of the season. He also said when he left Feijenoord that he would like to return before he stopped playing. He will need to do that before too long as you could compare the present Feijenoord with Everton.

I'd like to see him stay if possible, but to be fair at the next world cup he is unlikely to feature so the 1st team games is less of an argument than the mainstay of the reason for a move; to ensure he gets a decent two or three year deal as his career winds down. His contract is up 2013 so we could offer him an extension of a year, but will that be competitive...

If we could ensure good cameo's last 30mins and another couple of hatricks against Man U and that was all it would be worth it!

Dirk has been a fantastic servant to the club, but there is no room for sentiment when building for the future. Kuyt is slowly in decline and isn't getting any younger, perhaps now would be a good time to try to recoup some money for him before he get's too old and has no transfer value.

No way would i sell kuyt. he is a big game player.

THE BIRD

Dirkie is one of my favourites; he has never been a problem in the dressing room, and has always given his best effort for LFC. Few players have stepped up in recent years for big games like he has.

His Carling Cup Final is classic Kuyt; 100% effort, go-ahead goal in extra time, scored the penalty that turned the tide for LFC, and the biggest cheerleader during the penalty shootout.

I just find it ridiculous when some people comeon here and slag off Kuyt. He has been a great servant for us. Just look back and see all the important goals he has scored over the years, particularly in the Champions League.
What's the betting that if Rafa gets a big job he tries to sign Kuyt.

I'm with Red Socks on this one. Kuyt is everything I want to see in a player. He is commited, passionate, never grumbles, not spoilt and always puts in 100% effort. I would be very sad to see him go but I can understand the reasons for both parties.

I think that LFC could go for Hazard, and he is part of the deal for joe cole as well, like we get '1st dibbs' on him, he said he wants to join a club with history, an Comolli, im sure will have a word with Lille and Hazard... I also think LFC could go in for Walcott, he is a Liverpool fan, he hasnt been amazing this season, but i think Kenny would get the best out of him, plus hes young, he can finish, hes fast, and english.. Any thought on this Ed? {Ed002's Note - Aside from it being fantasy - no.}

Not going to happen

No way will any decent players sign for us if we carry on the way we are playing. Our form is poor we need to start scoring and winning or we are looking at 8th or worse. 35 points behind the champions imagine by may. Fulham and WBA look my likely to score goals then us. Stoke have recovered a bit of form so if we don't wake up we could easy get knocked out of the cup, maybe in a replay. Why would hazard join us?

Walcott is far too injury prone and with only an intermittent end project.
He sees himself as a striker, but can anyone see him as the answer to our scoring problems?

Why can't people understand that players like hazard will not sign for Liverpool right now. They are ambitious and they want to play at the highest level with the highest wage structures, we can not offer that right now. You may well be right about the first dibs thing - they might send us the email first saying that they are willing to sell but that will be it. Set your standards a little lower mate and you won't be dissapointed. As for Walcott I can see that as we seem to like overrated and overpriced englishmen. And as for Kenny getting the best of of him has he got the best out of Carroll, Downing, Henderson? I don't want Kenny in charge of the club he has embarrased us enough with his interviews and opinions (although I agree progress has been made) and I would like to see realistic expectations. Wow so much pent up rage I apologise!

jackson martinez contract runs out on 31.12.2012 so there is no doubt he will go on the cheap maybe 4 - 5 million ? personally i think he would be a great signing for us he has alot of attributes

he has played 26 games and scored 15 goals and had 4 assists , with 4 goals in 12 games for his national team

Yeah but in what league? Downing had a good record for assists last season and look at how his season has been.

Basically there is no gaurantee even when we sign players from the same league.

Jonesred

I would hope, its Lukk de Jong rather than Jack Martinez.But fingers crossed, I hope, we would be getting some one who'd score for us, consistently. YNWA

Yeah but the difference is we are only spending a little amount on jackson so there isnt much expectation with downing it was 20 million pound and he had alot of pressure , player not from the premiership perform better , for example javier hernandez , pogrenyak , ba you could even talk about in the past that have done this , henry , adebayor , bergkamp , van persie all cheap signings can you see where im coming from jonesred?

Dont see why we couldnt go for Jackson Martinez and Luuk De Jong, they're very different players. Martinez could be that out and out pacy stiker we desperately need and De Jong could replace Kuyt, capable of playing wide or naturally up to , he's not got blistering pace but his got great technique and vision in fact his amount of assists 15 this season is as impressive as his goals 25 this season, my big worry with him is that he'll do well at the Euros and interest and price could rocket.
