Ed1, seems like the management team is taking shape - great news. Any further news on the first team coach, as that post is still apparently vacant?

We've discussed the need for players' fitness in a high press system, so would have thought Pako would have been a great addition to the setup. Any approach been made to him?

Have looked in archives, not seen anything beyond speculation so far?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - nothing news wise on that mate, Pako was interested in the assistant managers role, I doubt he would have any interest in being the coach. He is trying to prove himself as a manager now.}

Ed. Thanks for all of your hard work this site has seriously been the place to get the best info. Do you think that now rodgers has sorted out the management team this shows a serious backing from the club? Some reports saying he will have until Christmas etc but can't see the club letting him shape the management team if they are thinking about short term results and replacing him in a matter of months. Cheers.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed030's Note - I believe it shows they are giving him all the resources to prove himself, here we will found out if he is good enough for the job. }

07 Jul 2015 08:19:30
Ed030?. It goes all the way up to 30. Somebody catch me *feints*

I think that is a fair proposition though. Only problem is trying to reorganise everything mid season if he does fail. Time will tell.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - there is an Ed039 as well, we used to have an Ed052 at one time.}

07 Jul 2015 10:20:54
Do you guys meet up for 5 asides?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - no mate, most of the other editors are far too old for that. When Ed003 talks about his time during the war, he is referring to the Crimean War.}

Afternoon eds.
Are we switching our interest in a striker from Benteke to Jovetic?

Believable1 Unbelievable5

{Ed002's Note - No.}

06 Jul 2015 16:50:31
Not sure if he would be interested but Lacazette would be a better fit for our team and when you look at the rumoured transfer fees for him and Benteke it seems a clear one to me.

That said whoever we sign I'll be right behind.

06 Jul 2015 17:15:52
I totally agree dcal, but i can't see him coming to us. If he doesn't move this summer and has another good season I think he'll be able to pick his own club this time next year.

Agree1 Disagree0

06 Jul 2015 20:08:53
I dearly hope we do not sign either of them. If Liverpool are in a position to spend 32m plus wages, then surely there are better achievable options in the current market

06 Jul 2015 22:23:45
Psynwa - go on then suggest some, that's the whole point genius. If you can't add content and just want to be negative then go play with your toys.

06 Jul 2015 23:52:03
The people who think Lacazette and Higuain are likely to come to Liverpool are deluded.I do however agree that Benteke is not what we need and we would be better off sticking with what we've got

Agree0 Disagree1

07 Jul 2015 02:45:28
I look like to think that Aubamyang, forgive spelling, might be prised away from Dortmund for the amount of money that's being mentioned for Benteke, but nothing's been said about him being a target so wishful thinking I guess. I agree with Dcal, who else is there we could get? Maybe promote Jerome Sinclair? Better hope studge stays fit I guess.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Jul 2015 03:19:47
Higuain and Lacazette won't come to us, we CAN'T stick with what we've got because we need a new quality center forward and there are no real options other than Benteke

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Jul 2015 07:35:47
Although I don't think he's worth 32m, I don't see any other option than Benteke. Goal every other game for a team like Villa? With players like Firmino and Coutinho around him I expect him to bing in a few more.

07 Jul 2015 09:19:19
Benteke is only 24. He's a proven goalscorer in the epl and a real nightmare for defenders. With new coaching staff in place we are obviously going to adopt new ways of playing ball. In part because we have been found out.

So please people, keep the whining to yourselves and support the beast. He might just be exactly what we need.

I don't mind either. In fact if we could get Jovetic that'd be great because he's half the price. Altho Benteke's performance and form can much clearly be seen than Jove's. Poor thing warming benches at City. Great talent!

07 Jul 2015 18:31:18
My cousin is a Citeh fan and he hates Jovetic. Says he's lazy. And injury prone. I trust his judgement as he's very knowledgable.

The only positive is that a player exchange would drop the cash price for Stirling and therefore, we have to play QPR less.

{Ed001's Note - not true, the value would be the same.}

Hi Ed001. Noticed your comment on a previous post re: not having brought in a top keeper, which we desperately need. Are they sticking with Migs/Bogdan or is there anything doing at all? Also, I thought Handanovic was available on a free this summer - do you know if he's signed a new contract with Inter? Thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - nothing happening regards a keeper.}

06 Jul 2015 19:04:10
Handanovic wasn't on a free, his contract is until 2016

Correct but borini looks like he doesn't want to go there!

Borini wants to wait and see what offers he has from England before deciding on a move back to Italy

Borini = winston Bogarde

06 Jul 2015 14:48:30
I feel for Borini, good enough or not for our team, his future should be sorted quickly in my opinion. Is it simply lack of offers or is there more to it?

Agree1 Disagree0

06 Jul 2015 19:22:01
From an outsider looking in the problem with Borini's future being sorted out is down to him as if reports are true we've accepted offers from clubs (Sunderland) and he has refused to go out on loan. Don't get me wrong I respect the fact he wants to try and knuckle down and earn a spot in the team, but he has failed to do that. So why not realise it's not going to happen at Liverpool and leave?
The one reason I see is that he is on good money at liverpool and is probably finding it hard to have his wage demands met.
Just my opinion of course

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he turned down double wages to join QPR last summer and an increase to join Sundrrland. It is not about money.}

06 Jul 2015 22:41:30
I appreciate the info Ed as I was unaware he was offered higher wages as I thought him not agreeing personal terms with Sunderland was down to money.
Why does he seem reluctant to leave is it purely because he wants to prove he is good enough because he can't be happy with the amount of game time he currently gets?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed030's Note - I guess he thought he could have proved himself, or he and his family enjoy the City. }

06 Jul 2015 12:42:27
Chalke's Jefferson Farfan has been identified as a replacement for the impending departure of RS.

I would have thought, even though he can play as a striker we would have bought enough players to cover for him, but i suppose with the Kovacic deal looking like a no goer this rumour could have some substance to it.

The article is by By Jake Evans and was written on Monday 6 July 2015 and posted at 11:08 UK.

It also highlights 2 other players from the recent Copa America tournament that are interesting RM, Utd, (Nicolas Otamendi) and City (Charles Aranguiz).

I assume, with your response its a load of tosh so thank you.

I doubt we are looking at replacing Sterling as We already have:

Markovic
Ibe
Lallana
Milner
Firmino
