Hi eds,

TV reporting we have agreed a deal for Origi. Did we have interest in him before the World Cup? I know he's young but not sure if he's the quality of player we should be signing.

He performed reasonably well for Lille last term which attracted the interest of a few clubs; Liverpool included.

Agree2 Disagree0

I would think that they would have had him well scouted this past season. Rodgers isn't the kind of man to sign someone for having a couple of good games.

Agree1 Disagree0

Diouf.

Agree1 Disagree6

I love answers like Crunch's. We once signed one player who had played well in a world cup. Therefore any player who plays well in a world cup is rubbish and shouldn't be signed.

He appeared 35 times for Lille last season (mostly as a sub) and showed himself as a young, able forward who can play across the front line with a rocket of a shot in him. He's not just some dude Belgium dug up for the world cup and chose to start over Mirillas and Lukaku because they had one dodgy game

Agree2 Disagree0

It sounds like he has been on our radar for a while, the fact that we are loaning him back to Lille suggests long term planning rather than the hasty signing of world cup players by Houllier after the world cup.

Agree3 Disagree0

He's far from good enough to play for Liverpool. He did NOT performed well in the World Cup - missed a couple of chances. Last seasons we've had more than enough players who knew how to miss chances.
You may say he's only 19, but I've scored many goals from these he missed, when I was 15. Why noone offered me a contract then?
A few goals in the low-quality French League is miles away from what we need to win the Premier League.

Agree0 Disagree4

Personally think he will prove an excellent buy?
Not sure who you were watching. He needs to learn to pass a little more, but he is strong, fairly quick, has good feet and skills, an attacking mind and youth on his side. For the money we have apparently paid for him (or will) he value can only go up as far as I can see

Agree1 Disagree0

Diouf was agreed before the World Cup, diao on the other hand.

Eds do you know of any interest in Jackson Martinez from Liverpool. I remember the club being interested a few seasons back just wondering if he is a player the club could look at as a Suarez replacement

Believable5 Unbelievable20

{Ed002's Note - Not at this time.}

06 Jul 2014 20:25:16
Ed002, I understand that you do not like discussing these points but can I just ask this one question on Markovic please? Do Chelsea have a first option on him or is it that an affiliated company of theirs owns part of his ownership?

Thank you in advance

Believable9 Unbelievable8

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea could take they player this summer if Liverpool make an acceptable bid and should they decide to do so.}

Ok, I think I got that. So Chelsea can gazump Liverpool even if LFC offer more money.

Agree3 Disagree0

06 Jul 2014 22:24:02
Hi Ed, what is the situation? Is it that CFC get first refusal so to speak, but Markovic still has to want to go? If the player wanted to come to us and we make an acceptable bid, can CFC block it? Thanks

Agree2 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea would not block it. They will take the player if they want him - but their intention was to take him next year.}

Not strictly true Chelsea have option to talk to Markovic, however Markovic is well within his right to turn down Chelsea and move to us. All the clause provides Chelsea is a chance to talk to Markovic and pay a set fee. The ball is in Markovic's court regarding which club he signs for.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Nobody can force the p[layer to move - and nobody is suggesting that. The clause says nothing about talking to the player and don't lose sight of the fact that Benfica only owns half of his rights.}

07 Jul 2014 01:01:46
Would u personally like chelsea to take him?
Abbas lfc

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I really don't care at all. I understand that nothing has changed with Chelsea's view that he is not yet ready for the EPL - certainly at the price Liverpool would need to pay.}

To be fair, if he was to sign for Chelsea you'd hardly ever see him. Bad move for a player of that age and I'm sure that works to our advantage no matter if Chelsea are interested or not. I'm sure young players across the continent now have a positive opinion of Brendan Rodgers that will enable us to persuade them to make the move to Merseyside ahead of other destinations.

Hey eds, just wondering who is winning the race for Sanchez as so many websites suggesting arsenal have agreed a fee with barca for him, do you expect us to push for Sanchez and would he be interested in coming?

Thanks, first time poster, great site!

Believable3 Unbelievable16

{Ed002's Note - There is interest but right now a deal seems unlikely.}

Ed do you mean unlikely for any club or just unlikely for Liverpool?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Arsenal will be talking to the player very soon.}

I really hope the situations changes here and that BR can persuade him to move to LFC

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool cannot talk to the player.}

Because?
Tony Barrett (Scouse journo) says different.
Who to believe? Think we'll offer a better salary t be honest. Let's see how this plays out.

O jogo now saying markovic will undergo a medical this week. this story really picking up life. hope he does well if we do sign him. as I've said I'm not to sure on him!

Believable20 Unbelievable7

Jesus you better tell Brendon quick mate

Agree2 Disagree0

Not to sure what you're implying there mate? I'm entitled to an opinion on a player I haven't slated him like most do here with players and I've said I'll gladly support him and hope for the best but just think he's a bit of a risk.

Eds, there is no truth in interest from us in Sissoko from Newcastle correct?

Believable3 Unbelievable11

{Ed001's Note - it is an old story mate, when Lallana looked to be falling through.}

06 Jul 2014 18:29:08
Eds

If we sign Lovren, out of the centre backs we already have, who is most likely to leave?

And has the club had any communication which interested clubs

Also, have the club had any approaches or any interest registered for Glen Jonno?

Thanks in advance

Believable13 Unbelievable4

{Ed001's Note - Skrtel/Agger. Both have had interest from Napoli. Nothing on Johnson other than an enquiry from QPR, which could still happen.}

06 Jul 2014 16:55:19
Hey eds!

Is it true that Markovic to Liverpool is a done deal?

Cheers, Scouserseb

Believable10 Unbelievable14

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of Benfica, Liverpool and the player signing any contracts.}

Okey!

Cheers for the quick reply mate!

is there any agreements at all?

Agree0 Disagree2

{Ed002's Note - Not as far as I am aware.}

Ed has there been any developments with markovic at all?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware that anything has changed, there has been interest but I am not aware of a transfer being agreed..}

06 Jul 2014 18:58:40
Tony Barrett from The Times just tweeted that the club hopes to conclude Markovics transfer this week! You reckon that might be true even though you haven't heard about it Ed?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I cannot comment on the timing of transfers.}

06 Jul 2014 18:38:57
It would take at-least a month to sort his ownership issues.

Agree0 Disagree2

I think its come from Tony Barrett of the times. He says Liverpool ''hope'' to wrap it up next week

Tony Barrett from The Times just tweeted that the club hopes to conclude Markovics transfer this week! You reckon that might be true even though you haven't heard about it Ed?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - I cannot answer questions about timescales.}

Tony barret is saying that Liverpool hope to tie up the deal this week.

Agree1 Disagree0

Eds forgetting the timescale, a lot of new reports coming out now about us agreeing a deal all reports are from different journos, the likes of barret, fabrizio romano, ben smith a few mins ago tweeted about us being in advanced talks with benfica, someone from dimarzio aswell, if this is true its very exciting times but do you see him as the alternative to shaqiri and sanchez because we did have interest before the suarez transfer

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I have no interest in commenting on what is said on Twitter.}

06 Jul 2014 16:38:37
If we get origi do you see us loaning him back/out?

Believable19 Unbelievable4

{Ed002's Note - That is what Lille would like.}

Why do we (meaning LFC fans on here) ask questions that you know the answer to. Every single press story as regards to Origi has stated that for him to be bought now would mean that he must be loaned back to Lille for the season. The people who run this site who I believe are excellent for putting up with the large traffic of questions that people already know the answer to or they could just type into google "Origi to Liverpool". Can we please ask "Liverpool Rumours" sensible questions that may actually be new news or at the very least interesting.

Hi eds

Is Higuain still looking to move on from Napoli? If so and now LFC have both the funds and vacancy post the sale of LS, do you know if the club have registered any interest with the players / Napoli's agents and representatives? Or has there been any form of communication over a possible transfer?

Thank you in advance

Believable5 Unbelievable13

{Ed002's Note - The club has shown no interest.}

06 Jul 2014 15:28:07
Question for Eds001 if your about?

You recently mentioned that you heard from somebody at Spurs, that he was under the impression that a deal for Origi was all wrapped up, and that Spurs had missed out. you suggested the info to be "spot on"

Do you have any further info or heard anything since you posted the original post?

Thanks in advance

Believable8 Unbelievable2

{Ed001's Note - from what I am told the deal is agreed with his club. It is just down to Origi himself to say yes or no now.}

If he decides to say yes, Do you know if he will be loaned back the first season?

Thanks in advance!

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - Lille are looking for that.}

06 Jul 2014 13:37:08
hi Ed's,

do you know if Sami Hyppia has enquired about any players for loan to Brighton?

cheers

Believable7 Unbelievable2

{Ed001's Note - not as far as I am aware, not yet anyway. He would probably want to take a close look at his squad in preseason, make sure he knows exactly what players he needs, before he looks to get in loanees.}

06 Jul 2014 14:37:17
Hi Ed's just out interest do you know if any one has inquired or interested in Matt Hummels?

Believable1 Unbelievable3

{Ed002's Note - Barcelona and Manchester United maintain an interest in Hummels but Dortmund do not want to sell.

06 Jul 2014 13:21:05
Hi eds, first time poster but long time reader. I was interested in your opinion on Alexandre Lacazette as a via alternative to Sanchez? I remember a few rumours a while back, but nothing recent. Seems the type of player who can make things happen and plays the forward / wide positions.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - I understand that Napoli, Spurs and Arsenal had Lacazette watched on a number of occasions before the end of the season and that previous interest from Roma remains. Newcastle have also shown an interest. He had a good season and this summer I would expect that there will be interest in him from a number of clubs, possibly including Liverpool who have had him watched perhaps with a view to Suarez leaving. Lyon would like to keep him and will demand a very significant fee for the player (which has already put off Juventus) and an even higher fee still from English sides.}

06 Jul 2014 12:59:16
hey eds. is it true that galatasaray are interested in Skrtel? any other interested parties? thanks

Believable4 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - Yes and not that I am aware at this time.}

Could manage to get upto 15 million if its Gala. Good busineess if w e can.
Still eaves us with Agger, Ilori, Sahko Toure and possibly Lovren.

Hi Eds,

Have we agreed a fee with Chelsea for Ryan Bertrand? If not, do you think a deal could happen?

Regards

Believable5 Unbelievable7

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any fee being agreed but there has been interest.}

06 Jul 2014 12:29:12
Eds. any news, knowledge of Arda Turan? Seems available? You guys know of any interest from LFC and any idea of selling price, to compare to Shaqiri or Sanchez

Believable2 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - he is available, but I don't know of any interest from us, there was some limited interest from Inter.}

Thanks ed001

Eds have we bid for Bertrand tonight at around 6m?

Believable4 Unbelievable30

{Ed001's Note - I don't know, I was hoping Ed002 would be around to answer this, but she is busy at the mo, sorry.}

06 Jul 2014 11:09:20
Caught offside are saying Madrid will offer 95m to beat Barca to suarez because Monaco aren't willing to sell. Have you heard anything about this and who do you think we are likely to sign this summer

Believable43 Unbelievable44

A 12th hour bidding war between Real and Barcelona? Ed's any update today?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I don't know of any problem between Monaco and Real Madrid regarding the transfer of Falcao.}

Would Falcao get past the medical though ed? Valdes and Falcao they both injured their ACL right? i'm just thinking if Valdes failed his medical, what chance would Falcao have? unless they are happy to take the risk and take over his rehabilitation?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Falcao is not joining Monaco though, who use a different criteria. It is possible to pass a medical while out injured. They would just look at how the injury is healing to see if there are any likely future issues.}

Madrid do not have an interest in suarez. Even before the biting there was only perez who wanted him. Many senior players and both carlo and zizou had expressed their concern regarding suarez.Though up until the biting they were all largely ignored by perez. I was told that it was unlikely a bid would be made.

Agree1 Disagree2

Fair point ed001, never thought of it that way.

today in croatian newspapers "sport news" ther was exclusive dejan lovren interview. he spoke how he is dissapointed with southampton exodus, and how he want to go to Liverpool and nowhere else. he is desperate to get a move, he says southampton haven't even inform him about two Liverpool bids. he also said he really likes Liverpool and is already in his mind with Liverpool, and hopes the club will let him go. he is furious because he had verbal agreement with saints they will let him go if they don't qualify for europe and someone come close to figure of 20m. he really wants Liverpool and want this sorted as soon as possible.

Believable58 Unbelievable5

I wouldn't read into that at al, privately he is desperate to join up with pochettino at spurs although they are unwilling to spend that much, the reason being that they believe chiriches has a better future along side vertonghen! Meaning like most foriegn players any team that islinked with them they do claim how much they want to play for them! But I stress that privately he is desperate to link up with pochettino and is willing to put pressure on his club but spurs apparently will not bulk at their valuation

Agree2 Disagree3

{Ed001's Note - sorry but that is just not true at all. Spurs are perfectly willing to pony up the cash and have already told Southampton so. They do not see Chiriches and Vertonghen as being a better option, Poch is adamant he wants Lovren. So now we will find out how much you are full of even more brown stuff about his desperation to play for Spurs, which he has both publicly and privately never mentioned. He has said he enjoyed playing for Poch and would like to play for him again, but not a single solitary thing about being desperate to join Spurs, though plenty about wanting to play in the Champions League.}

Give it up Walker, it is getting embarrassing now.

Agree2 Disagree0

Not really, the ed has his ideas as to what's happening as I have mine, I have seen the txts from the southampton end! if the ed wants to look big and insult the people on this page and it makes him feel good about himself then yaaay go ed, he probably won't post the reply?

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - how am I insulting you? Grow up. You have been posting this nonsense for ages, you have been proven wrong multiple times in the past with your fantasies about players desperation to sign for Spurs, it is boring now. It is like listening to the Oracle. Lovren himself has said he wants to join Liverpool, why not just leave that bit out if he is so desperate to move to Spurs? He could just complain about lack of ambition and say he wants to leave, without naming a club. If you are right then you will have plenty of chances to say so after wards. If not, then you will no doubt pretend it was down to Spurs not wanting to spend the money, when they are definitely willing to, but Lovren has said no thanks. That is why bids have gone in for Lascelles.}

Ed001, I know that Lallana pushed for the deal to come through, seemingly at this point Lovren might be doing the same, would you say now that his chances of coming here wouldev increased?

at this point though, if we buy Lovren, definitely we have to sell some CB's right? but if we say, bought Lovren before we sell any of our CB, would we be in a good position to sell?

I don't know if I word my question correctly though ed001, apologies if you couldn't understand my question.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - yes and yes, we want to sell CBs.}

Another Saints player ending up at Anfield will definitely spice up the season opener. Must say Lovren shouldn't be so public with his views against his club, we wouldn't like it if a Liverpool player made his views so public.

Agree2 Disagree0

I agree Jassi, We all know how we felt when the player who shall not be named did it last summer to try and push a move. But that said I am pretty excited about the idea of us getting him, fingers crossed if we do get him he doesn't do it again to join someone who he classes as a bigger club.

Agree2 Disagree0

If the rumours are true though Jassi, he has handed in a transfer request. I think he should atleast be told that we have bid for him. some people voice out things without a reason, but put urself in his shoes mate.

that is, assuming he has handed in a transfer request and, it is true that Southampton did not inform him of the bid.

Agree1 Disagree0

I am really shocked (LOL) at the poor standard of Saints players agents/ advisers! All these verbal agreements and nothing concrete within contracts. The players are not even told who the new management is so they can arrange a meeting. There is definitely a need for some heads to roll!

(Or could it just be that certain individuals have no respect for the intelligence of fans?)

I suspect Lovren will leave but the offer from LFC has been rejected and rumour from around Saints is that the rejection is for similar reasons for the initial Lallana offers to be rejected ie the gross amount is shy of the clubs valuation and is also arrived at by including add ons which Saints find of limited value. Equally, Koeman has now started working with the squad and I see no reason for him to want Lovren shifted until he has a good chance to assess the squad, decide where he wants to make additions and start bringing in new players. I suspect Lovren's reported comments are more likely to slow down any deal than to accelerate it.
