My mate Ewan from Wales has told me Joe Allen
is signing this week. He's a good lad an he's mates with loads of the Wales under 21s.

This is from a viable source Aggers 1st choice of replacement is Ashley Williams at 27 nearly 28 I was quite shocked! Don't think Swansea would go for this at all but he was adamant that this was true. Allen is to be announced on fri while we are pushing hard still for Dempsey. There is interest in several players yet but he seemed to think the interest in Walcott was very strong but suggested arsenal still expected him to sign a new deal.
NGibo!

I've been a lfc fan all my life I beleave since Roy Evans left it's all gone wrong since then managers have come and gone some got close in my option they,ve all missed a trick none off them can complain about money they all had enuff just signed dodge players the last 15 years we've all ways had a few players who were,nt good enuff I could go on and on. Our owners have shot themselves in the foot yeah our season last years wan,nt good enuff but let's be fair we were very unlucky I beleave if the king was given another season with a bit of back he would have got it right it's all ifs and maybe but your can't say the king wouldn't have had our support. As Liverpool fans were stick together as we all ways do backing our players , manager and club as a whole BR should be given time ever great manager starts somewhere his Way of playing our history of the way we used to play fits with a modern twist (433).but I got to add some of the players linked to us is worrying Allen do we need him don't we have enuff in the middle with all our up and coming players added to that mix I don't think so dempsey good player just not good enuff again I'd rather see our young guns given ago agger is another one if he wants to go let him we don't want players who aren't 100 percent committed to us know that finally brings me to why I'm texting usually I trust our club in regards to comings and goings were all ways slow but if we do sell agger I hope to god we dont buy ashley Williams from Swansea as a replacement that dude is not Liverpool quality at all he'll struggle to get in our reserves again we've got a few good youngsters ie sammer and kelly that's kellys preferred position I can't even sleep I keep picturing mr Williams last season playing a pl game can't remember who against goal line clearance he completely miss the ball both him and the ball end up in the back of the net if it's true than we should be afraid very very afraid

I for one would not like to see Daniel Agger in a city shirt next season, but with he niggling injuries and the money that city have ?? Would be very interested in a £15m + fee with Adebayor included in the deal loan for a season maybe?
Joe Allen will be an excellent signing if indeed he does sign, at 22 he could become gerrards long term replacement.
Anybody know about the so called big news due tomorrow ?

YNWA

Not sure on the benefits of Adebayor, when we`re trying to offload another striker of similar style/ability in Carroll.

Adebayor joined Tottenham on permanent deal...................................

If u want Adebayor in our team then sorry i dont buy it, mercenary and no interest in any club only himself. Good player though but never (or previously never would be ) a Liverpool Fc player !

£15m plus adebayor on loan. £15m are you mad

Could be about Standard Charter. They're all over the news now

My guess is that Luis is going to sign a longer contract. Pure guesswork but can't be any worse than some of the utter rubbish some people post.

The return of sammy lee

Yeah sammy coming back would be good a link to are good oul days and a bit of bobs knowledge passed on to the players, didnt like the way sammy ended his time with the club he didnt deserve that its up there with the tratment of 1 of the clubs gratest servants Roy Evans.Tommy Irish Red.

07 Aug 2012 14:29:30
I have heard it is the contract extention of a couple players....

Skrtel being one, like Macca has said. And the other being Suarez. We'll see tomorrow i guess.

strong rumours that rodgers will complete the signings of joe allen and sahin - loan.

rodgers will then let agger go to city and is making up his mind on either trying to get adam johnson as part of the deal, or going for theo walcott.

also i have news on the major star loan signing and all i can say is WOW. its not an up and coming talent, its a major player who is not the threat he once was but still has 3-4 years left.

YNWA D-DOG

Let's face it, you just made this up as you typed it.

So who is it then..... Oh hang on you not a clue have you
Tommy

Why do people write stuff like I have news then not share it

So you're implying Villa or Torres then :p

- Something Red -

Lets be serious if u knew who it was you wouls say then when he does sign say told u so

Oh God another "I know a secret but I can't tell it to you" guy.If you think you do know the name then say so!

If you have news who it is, tell us! :-)

Joe

WOW are we getting him on loan for 3-4 years ? :-)

Who is it then ? the major loanee? :)

David Villa? Could want to come to hang out with his best friend forever Pepe Reina. Maybe short loan to get his fitness back up. This is the only person I can think of. Kaka? But that doesn't seem nearly as exciting as Villa.

Why do people refuse to name this loan major signing {Ed007's Note - Maybe because they don't know...........

Who is the player then if you "have news"?!

Honestly. Some BS that people come up with.

SuperDuperSuarez

"WOW" and "not the threat he once was" don't seem to go together......!

if you know this much, could you not just tell us who it is?

Time will tell......

Mrpjd

Would rather have both johnson and walcott

£13m plus Adam Johnson
then £13m for Walcott

Not a 100 percent on this but my source tells me it's David Beckham.

YNWA D-DOG

Uh... Beckham? Really? Guy can barely hack it for the Galaxy (and I live in LA and am a Galaxy fan!) anymore, no way on Earth he comes to LFC unless the Premier League create a 'designated free kick taker' position. Not to mention the whole Man U thing... Geez.

D-Dog, change your source. What the point of having Beckham? To sell more shirts in US and Asia? Or sign him on loan to provide crosses for Carroll? Beckham is a man u and he will always be a man u.

Old run down has being player sounds like fsg player alright
Eam

Haha mate your having a laugh David Beckham !! you have just made my miserable morning lad. nice one

There has to be a time in every football teams life when they at themselves and stop buying central midfielders.

How on earth does DB have 3 or 4 years left - you're nuts chap.

I thought he was going to say some one like Eto which would have been new and maybe a bit believable but seriously David Beckham? please go sit in the corner and think about how silly you have been believing this guy!

RAH, YNWA

If agger goes who will play at cb with skrtel imo carra makes skrtel a nervous wreck with his shouting, therefore he dives in and makes them silly mistakes hopefully big seb isnt far off being the player he was meant to be r maybe buck sees a good talent within r youth wisdom r samba.Tommy Irish Red.

Got a feeling this could be kaka

Bobby charlton?

@PaulRogersLFC: Judging by some of the hysterical comments on here, you'd think transfer window had already shut. 1 possible signing sounds very exciting

Paul Rogers works for Liverpool, wonder what player he is refering to?

He's simply been told to say this to help appease the fans because of the potential sale of Agger.

I hope he is not referring to joe allen. definitely a good signing, but not an 'exciting' one!

I think its the major loan we possibly have coming, im excited to what transfers happen, personally would love ramirez and allen, plus a typical winger and if carroll leaves then another striker but id like to see carroll this season still playing for us

Ki and Wanyama from Celtic £18 million

The hysterical comments are due to the fact that it appears to be one way traffic at the moment with players leaving and only Borini in and yet we hear that Agger & Bellamy are imminent departures. Allen & Dempsey incoming soon ? It was soon in mid July, of course there will be hysterical comments, because nobody seems to know what's going on.

I think the loan signing and player in question is Nuri Sahin judging from the rumours tonight, what a signing he would be!

Welcome to LFC Mr Ozil YNWA.

Give the club and the manager a chance! The transfer window shutting is still a long way off. Buying and selling players is not as easy as it used to be. Agreed that it is frustrating that we dont know what is going on, but is this not the 'Liverpool' way? We dont talk about players that we may or may not be bringing to the club. Lets judge BR at the end of May 2013 and beyond. Patience is a virtue!!

06 Aug 2012 21:20:27
Just to clarify 2 points... Joe Allen- lfc offered 12mil plus Shelvey on loan which was rejected. Swans waiting to speak to Allen before deciding on wat to do next. Fee may still be 12mil but with add ons totalling transfer at a possible 16mil...
Bellers- his family did move part time to Cheshire but have gone full time back to Cardiff hence bellers hand being forced into move back to Cardiff a year earlier than he wants...fact
Source a current welsh international at cardiff

No, wherever bells has played his family have always been in cardiff

So your source is either earnshaw or darcy Blake, and I personally hope Bellamy stays, unless we get in a real high quality winger but with kuyt and maxi gone I think we will need 2.

Why would liverpool pay add ons totalling 16m when he has a buy out clause of 15m?

Because the buy out clause has other attached fees

06 Aug 2012 20:33:28
Tello not included in Barca 25 man squad, a move to Premiership is very likely.
Also Agger won't be leaving, he wants to sign a new contract, so unless city make a huge offer(30mil.+) and LFC force Agger to accept the move(similar to the Torres situation)

So, are you saying Liverpool forced Torres to move to Chelsea?

Paul

Eh? Sorry? We FORCED Torres out? That's news to me!!

JP.

I thought that torres wanted to go, also tello is young just like raheem does not have to be on our 25 man roster.

Like the club forced the crying baby out....

That isn't like the Torres transfer. Torres turned in a transfer request and forced the move through. Hope we keep Agger but for 25m+ I would sell.

Torres wanted to leave!

Just imagine Torres up front with Maxi and Suarez at either side.

He's under 21 so he doesn't have to be registered

a8

Similar to Torres?! Torres couldn't get out of Liverpool fast enough and had probably moved to Chelski 6 months earlier in his head than when he actually did. Hope Agger does stay but don't start making stuff up. If he goes somewhere else it will be because he wants too.

Merf

Merf

King Kenny was licking his lips thinking of a Suarez Torres partnership but it wasn't meant to be.Torres wan't forced out. He wanted the move himself

Torres wanted out, it more like what happened to Carroll at Newcastle, he loved it there, and never wanted to move but Ashley like the idea of finding 35m in his bank account.
Hutch

If I understand correctly, Chelsea made the offer to Liverpool, who contractually had to make Torres aware of it. He pushed through the move & Liverpool set the price [FR]

Nothing lime the torres situation. He wanted to leave the season before he did his head was turned by money long before he actually left. It was no secret about his desire to quit anfield. Ager is happy at Liverpool by all accounts but things can change.
Carlos79

Yeah cos that's what happened with Torres...

Torres wasn't forced out. He put in a transfer request.

Lfc has told city 22m is the price

If we get 30m for Agger I'll give him a piggy-back to the Etihad!

In spain its u18s that dont have to be registered..in england its u21s....so tello is not included in barca's squad!

From what I have heard (and I do believe it is bunkum, but still) Torres submitted the transfer request and then changed his mind, but Dalglish made him stick to it for showing disloyalty to the club.

TSP

Have to admit I've often wondered what the story was with the Torres transfer. He looked like death warmed over in his first Chelsea interview and I recall an interview a while after where he made claims that all was not as it seemed.

As to 'he put in a transfer request'- so did Andy Carroll and it's pretty universally agreed he didn't really want to leave Newcastle...

Tello is 21...

Lmao, Torres handed the transfer request in. Generally it begs, the question, when players like Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard retire, will we see the end of the "One Club" men in Premier League??. Christ. Torres and Owen have one thing in common, they have DEEPLY inflicted hatred upon us fans. I would be delighted if Torres went to Barcelona or a worse a team in Serie A but the mere fact that he went to Chels*** is just saddening. I can put my heart on it, that there is not one Chelsea, Arsenal or Man Utd "star" player who if not wanted by their respective clubs will dream of making the move to us even if we offered them a payrise.... {Ed049's Note - Frank Lampard is not a 'one club' man.}

Torres' behaviour was disgusting at LFC during those final months, he burnt his bridges with several senior players and forced through his transfer to the Chavs.

Fat Frank spent 5 years as a pro at west ham.

06 Aug 2012 19:43:03
From Simon who used to work with Agger and remains good friends since he sold the bar. Agger is happy at Liverpool, but with his injuries and age Liverpool see it fit to sell him to fund other transfers. He has however said he will not join city, he will stick by his word. Barca is his preferred destination but they haven't made an approach. Will only be sold if money is right. Don't know of any possible swaps/loans. Sorry all I've got ! Davey..

Simon who? Where did he work with him? I am pretty sure Agger did most of his work on the training ground for years!
So Liverpool have told him he will be sold because of his injuries and he then told his trusted friend who then went blabbing to someone else

Read it again pal, he clearly said Aggers Bar. All makes sense

I see the logic in selling him for the reasons above, but I doubt Barcá would buy him, for the same reasons. I don't think we'll make a sale in this case, good news for us.

SuperDuperSuarez

06 Aug 2012 19:38:02
Been told Man city to make 23 million pound bid for agger.

Who told you? Name names?

Don't care who told him, take the money and run, thats if your not injured at the moment , like Agger !

Who is this "Been" character? Did he have have a sheikh's hat?

06 Aug 2012 18:42:09
ed whats the situation with Robinson? is he still likely to move to Villa on loan {Ed049's Note - I guess he will be our 2nd choice Left Back}

He's still only 17 or 18

06 Aug 2012 19:28:49
tello left out of barcelona 1st team squad list this season liverpool bound maybe ?

mystic red

He's young enough to not be included in the squad list, so I'm afraid it neither confirms nor denies anything.

SuperDuperSuarez

A few of the other younger players have been included so I think the rumour does have some substance, fingers crossed it is Liverpool, makes sense for BR to be targetting Barca players if he wants to play like them

06 Aug 2012 18:49:34
Hi eds thanks for all your hard work.
Rumours are suggesting our loan signing may be tello or callejon or affellay but personally I don't consider any of these to be "stars" as such.
Your thoughts?

Thanks

Puzzled Red {Ed049's Note - Me neither}

None of these are star players in my opinion, can't wait I c if this comes off and to c who it really is. Can't wait for the end of August so the team
Can settle properly and start to really grow

Am reading el mundo deportivo and it does not look like Affelay is very keen on loan or being sold to another team. He wants to stay in Bcna

Well affelay maybe because he is well known but if it were to be a star id say higuain or ozil

I do,Tello would rip some teams apart in prem ,most probably bang in a load of goals aswell

On an earlier reply I said it was Ozil, I think I'll stick with that. Nearly 19

Tello is about as much as star as my kettle

But borrini isnt an exciting player that fans will love either but you have to take it with a pinch of salt and exspect it to be anybody. wish it was di-maria tough

adamlfc

Personally, I think the load will be Xabi Alonso...

The reason u think that Is because u lot think wer gna gt David villa. Higuain.ozil type of player on loan bt some ppl wudnt b happy unless they gt ronaldo on loan simple fact of the matter is if u have any common sense at all ud realise we can only gt 2 sort of players on loan 1. Young players that need mre experience or 2. Players that have cum bck frm injury/or can't make the 1st team of the clubs so wake up

Agree with no name on people needing to wake up plus why would players like ozil higuain david villa or even xabi want to leave barca/rm for lfc

06 Aug 2012 18:44:23
Following from Macca's post last night I guess the other 4 players other than Allen are Amoribieta, Dempsey, Mirralas and Tello with Affellay being the loan player probably part of the Agger deal to Barca.

Your thoughts Eds? {Ed049's Note - Possible}

One of the 4 will probably be a new backup goalkeeper

We should aim higher than that.

I really want to believe we can sign 4 players an d aloan deal, but how can we in 3 weeks? all we do is haggle over prices for weeks, it's what LFC do in every window, take dempsey for example, why shouldn't they want 10 million for the best player, he scored so many goals last season, a team like fulham need players like that to maintain them as a premier league club so why should we get him for less than their asking price because were LFC, we COULD have agreed a fee for joe allen weeks ago, olympics or not, we still could of offered them the moeny they want and agreed a fee and been ready and waiting for his medical and signiture, now the laudrup can get to him and have a chat and see why he really does want to join a club that has sold 4 players, probably going to sell daniel agger and theres a real possibility suarez could leave, oh and they have signed 1 player to replace that lot so far, so tell me joe why is it you want to go there again??

With that squad we should get top 4!

That would be a perfect transfer window for us, some absolutely quality technical players with a lot of potential to expand further. The technicality to fit into the BR footballing ways

Really? if we didn't have to lose agger and brought in those 5 i'd be made up.
x

Affelay a "star"?I don't think so

Afellay has not established himself as a star player. I'm still hoping the star loan signing will be Higuain/Di Maria/Kaka..

Al Fayed, is that you?

Clint Dempsey, 1 year left, TEN million? TEN? Thank god you're not manager

06 Aug 2012 18:48:55
Joe Allen to meet laudrup tomorrow to sort his future....source Wales online
Bellers to Cardiff is 100% his family already back in cardiff

Im not saying he isnt going but his family have always been there

WTF .. it has been reported all over the place that Swans have agreed a fee and Allen has accepted terms. Serious egg on the face of BR and LFC if this goes tits up and I am one of the more positive thinkers around here.

Im pretty sure that Bellamy's family has always lived in cardiff and that Bellamy has been commuting

Bellamy to Celtic Wanyama to Liverpool , Celtic getting £6 million too

I'm from Wales and as far as I am aware Bellamy's family never left Wales.
So his family should be there because they never left.

06 Aug 2012 18:18:26
Swansea manager Michael Laudrup has said to Wales Online that Joe Allen came by the training ground today but they didn't speak of the possible transfer to Liverpool. However he will be back for training on Wednesday and they will decide his future then.

In a perverse sort of way what are the odds he will stay? I bet he does!

{Ed022's Note - There is a very long overdue Player Profile now uploaded on Joe Allen of Swansea. As we all know, he looks very Liverpool bound at the moment, and I (as do all of the other Eds) expect the deal to be wrapped up very soon indeed. I personally believe it'll be sorted by the end of the week, but it is very difficult to judge these things. Anyway, this profile was done by Ed052 and he gives a very, very good analysis of Allen, including his positives and negatives, and it's a good read for any fan to be perfectly honest. I'd like to say that I also summarise the latest with regards to this transfer saga including the gentlemans agreement with Rodgers and Swansea, as well as the likely fee and add ons expected. I hope you all get chance to come on over and check out the profile, as its everything you'd need to know about Allen, there's even a section of a very short summary of Allen if you're lazy haha! Anyway - www.player-profiles.co.uk - cheers all.}

Cheers Editors for the unbelievable amount of work ye do. Its greatly appreciated as always.

Cheers
Blanco7 {Ed049's Note - Thank You Blanco}

Keep up the good work

Thanks for the short summary ;)

Hi Ed,

Assuming City bid for Agger,

Do you expect Adam Johnson to be used as a bargaining tool?

Thanks, LFC_7 {Ed002's Note - I really don't know. Would you want him?}

I don't get the obsession with Adam Johnson from Liverpool fans..he's a decent player but has attitude problems. Wages would be high as well

If we could get Adam Johnson as part of the Agger deal that would be fantastic. He's the perfect player for our right hand side.

Don't want him anywhere near Liverpool.

AP

Dont want johnson too much baggage with him,we need to bring in quality or it is going to be a long dark season,there are still players who we need to get rid of not are quality players who are not many.

High wages

Adam Johnson is no better than Downing

A straight swap with agger, one of the greatest centre backs in the world, no I wouldn't

But Liverpool should bid for him anyway

Quality player, better than downing, Bellamy looks likely to leave (unfortunatly, don't wanna see him leave), and spearing just not ready yet, I think Johnson would be a brilliant buy

Would rather keep agger

He's loads better than downing he always has been that's why boro were not bothered when they sold downing. Do you think city would have bought him if he'd was not as good? Do you think they couldn't have bought downing? Everyone in the north east knows how good he is. A good fast player who can play either wing and still only 25 I say get him now If the price is right and I've heard his wages are not as big as people think £50k.
Red sheep.

Could adabayor be part of a deal? Proven goal scorer! High wage demands, I know but...

I've given my thoughts on Johnson many times Ed, I think the lad can be as good as he wants to be. England's most naturally talented youngster in my opinion

Chris in Tamworth

Get adam johnson regardless of the agger deal or not

I would pick A.Johnson over ANY British winger a.t.m. Including Ashley Young, Theo Walcott, Aaron Lennon and Gareth Bale. He is Pacey and has great technique. But the one this that makes him better I.M.O is that despite his lack of games he still scores and assists reguarly. I know I'll get slated to even mention his name with Bale and Young, but I always watch him play and he is just such an impact player almost every time he comes of the bench.

Fifa King

Ed002, to be fair, you have said for a while that you believe Agger will most likely be sold. You mentioned Amorebieta as a likely replacement, any other names in the reckoning?

Cheers,

Stone YNWA. {Ed002's Note - Kjaer is beginning to attract interest but an outsider should (rather than might) be Zapata. He is available but it would mean moving quickly to get ahead of clear favourites Lazio and even perhaps Napoli.}

Kjaer as a replacement for agger dont make me laugh,selling best players to bring average players in (de ja vu)

I remember Zapata being linked last year but he went to Villareal. Are Villereal selling him through necessity or choice?!

I think Agger made Kjaer look good in the Euro's.If he was any where near as good as Agger City or some other top club would have made an offer for him

Kjær is by no means good enough, the only reason he looks decent, is because of Agger. If Agger is to leave, Kjær is definately not the one we should be looking at.

YNWA Rune from Denmark

Im danish, and would love another dane in the squad if Agger is sold, but Kjaer just have too many flaws in his game. Agger is a completely different class.

Why are we even considering selling agger?,the guy is quality!.Spearing,cole,adam,carroll should all go instead of one of our only quality players.It show's our owners true ambitions.

06 Aug 2012 16:51:37
ed which club is most likely to land agger........
{Ed002's Note - Manchester City or Barcelona.}

06 Aug 2012 16:49:43
How much would Diego Godin cost Ed is he worth a shout if Agger is going?
TT {Ed002's Note - He would certainly be a viable option but if he becomes available there will be much interest.}

Why would we want a defender who sits behind Seb Coates on the Uruguay National Team, when we already have Seb Coates. Give the kid some games and he'll soon own the EPL.

06 Aug 2012 16:35:37
Matias suarez's 11M Euros move to CSKA moscow failed after he din pass a medical.. any chance of liverpool being interested in him ed ? {Ed002's Note - There was interest before, so maybe.}

So let me get you right here, you want a player who as failed s medical in the crappy russian league yet you want us to sign him in the hardest league in the world, do you understand football lad or are you just a t-t. ASHY

Why buy another unfit player.Surely we have been down that road a few times. Carroll, Aquilani, Cole etc.

Did i not read on here that this lad would not get a work permit in this country.

Pls sign him.....pls for god sake.......

I understand your concern about signing another unfit player, but trust me M.Suarez is a quality player.

06 Aug 2012 16:30:35
Would hate to see agger go but if he does mats hummells would be a perfect replacement. We need pace we are defensively strong if we sell agger we need an equally strong replacement like hummels,amborieta. We need an alonso ,lucas is better than mascherano in cdm. Stevie G is getting older and playing less and less matches. I can see why rodgers is looking at joe allen to fill that creative midfielder place and i think he is a great footballer but i dont understand why rodgers doesnt give suso a chance even though hes young if hes good enough he should be in the team hes scoring goals and desperatly trying to get his chance in the team, he has the creative flair like david silva and can pass like alonso. Sterling aswell rodgers should atleast try and filter them both into the team their both great talents and by not spending 10-15 million on allen spend it on an out an out winger who can score goals and create chances. To be honast im confident about the new season and what rodgers can do.

5stars {Ed002's Note - To be honest, and as much as I don't like saying it, I really cannot see Hummels as a viable option at all.}

Gutted if Agger goes but good call with Mats Hummells - new 'Kaiser' - class act. Big Dog Surbiton.

Why would someone of the quality of Hummels go to a club which has just about qualified for Europa League?! Dortmund are in the Champs League and are still one of the best in the German league. No chance of going to Liverpool!

Wouldnt mind seeing agger and hummells together thats what we should be looking at not trying to replace a class act but adding to it

06 Aug 2012 16:30:30
Aggers a goner. He has rejected his latest contract offer and Man City will offer 14 million plus Johnson. Lets hope this sparks a bidding war for him to up the price.

12ft Pink Monkey

Dzeko+cash sounds better

We should hold out for cash £20m+ no plus players deals. NON

So you were there with him and his agent along with BR when this happened? Your source is? Oh no you don't have one do you?

I think if dzeko or johnson were part of the deal we would have to give THEM Agger plus £14m as they are both much better players than agger.

Sounds like a fair enough deal if it's true

Straight swap for Dzeko ,then sell AC and buy top defender for that money.
That way we're getting much better attacker and we can still have few millions left after we buy defender.

I'd take there hand an all with that deal

06 Aug 2012 16:26:55
Hi Edd do you know the reason why Matias Suarez failed his medical with CSKA?
Or is this more talk sh*t BS?

Cheers
Phooey... {Ed002's Note - There was a statement from CSKA first thing this morning saying he had not passed his medical and would return to his Anderlecht. There was no detail, and to be fair you would not expect any.}

He has a knee issue, similar to Jack Wilshere.

Het Laatste Nieuws broke the story a few days ago. Apparantly, he has been struggling with knee problems since the end of last season and he faces a possible 3 month layoff. He is not going anywhere this window.

Canadian Fan

Knee problems. He might need surgery and 4 months of rehab.
Andrew

Thanks guys...

Eds: do you know if we have had any intrest in christian itsu from fc porto? Please reply! {Ed002's Note - I am aware of there being rumours from Africa but unaware of anything to support them. He is a young raw talent who has spent a year playing in the second level in Portugal. I would doubt he would hit the ground running and be in the first team at Liverpool that easily.}

06 Aug 2012 16:12:26
Hi Ed, I've heard that Agger has submitted a transfer request, have you heard this at all? Thanks {Ed002's Note - No I have not.}

06 Aug 2012 16:06:41
ssn states we would sell agger then ed.man city bound for sure i think the deal is already done,an that's why we have not seen him?.i hope we get very good money plus a player in the deal maybe.jay essex red for life red till dead.......

If true this is an absolute disgrace and is like selling Torres or a Mascherano to City. Thought the days of letting your better players go was gone. The owners are showing their true colours, what a disgrace.

First LFC tried to push Carroll out to raise funds and now they are pushing out Daniel Agger. If there is no money for players FSG should seriously consider selling the club. This has now gone into madness who next? Suarez, pepe & Skrytel?

Agger will sign for Barca , but would prefer to stay.club worried over fitness concerns

06 Aug 2012 16:04:26
sly sports report city will place a 3rd bid for Agger and Liverpool may take it.

tuttomercato report. Atletico Madrid would like to earn almost 10 millions from the transfer of Diego Godin (26).

if Liverpool sale Agger then go for Godin .

r-r {Ed002's Note - In a post on these pages from two days ago it was reported "As for Godin, he is happy in Madrid but Betancourt says that as the best centre back in the world there will always be a pack chasing his signature."}

Why are people forgetting about coates?

I hope betancourt is a rich man...

:( ed002 everytime you talk about Suarez it saddens me, but i understand and believe totally what you say im just hoping this once your wrong. Not many lfc fans will see it this way and will turn their backs against the owners and even Rodgers more so than they allready do.
Here's hoping for once! ed002 is wrong?! haha thanks for the info ed.Appreciate it.
Ruben {Ed002's Note - If someone asks me about him I will give an honest opinion which many respect. I appreciate that a some of the readers are unable to agree or even, cope, with it because of the purple with gray sleeve tinted spectacles. He may well stay, but don't be surprised to perhaps see his name in the press once or twice over the next four weeks.}

Exactly ed i wasnt having a go at you or anything i respect your comments than anything else on this site. I'm prepared (i think) just think the fans are going to give FSG a LOT of stick in the next couple of weeks which is unwarranted.
Ruben

If I was Luis Suarez I would want to leave LFC because he will be getting lots of abuse from many fans off other teams and many LFC fans want him to go including some eds when they should give him there support,Luis loves LFC and the fans its a shame many LFC fans and some eds didn't
support him and want him out,I have no doubt if we don't start to well at the start of the season they will be wanting Brendan and others out {Ed049's Note -Are you freaking kidding me? Who said we don't support Luis?}

Suarez loves Liverpool? What possible proof have we seen of that? We thought the same of Torres, a man who went as far as saying it, and look where that left us. If a huge offer came in for him we'd be stupid not to take it, he's too much trouble and someone out there will be stupid enough to offer it. As for the possibility of a backlash against Rodgers, I haven't seen any? Maybe I've missed it, though I have seen some against the owners (bit of paranoia based on where they're from I think). And btw, if Suarez did love the club he wouldn't have (almost) single-handedly destroyed the reputation it's built over 20 years, or at the very least he'd stop going on about things when he thinks no one is listening.

ed002 aka the comedian...is it likely that kaka will be the "legendary" loan signing??

wks {Ed002's Note - Firstly he is available and he has the remit to talk with other clubs. Additionally he has been offered (albeit rejected) as part of a deal for another player. His wages would be an issue if it were a loan unless Real Madrid paid more than half (which seems unlikely) and I would think the fee and wages would be an issue if a permanent transfer were sought. He is also another central midfield player and it is not a position I see as a priority. To me it does not seem likely.}

Almost sad to see Kaka compete as I believe he is a shadow of his former self. That being said, I'd love to see him in red. Aging and perhaps increasingly more injury prone, I dont see any clubs taking on his wages, except, say, Milan. What are his options? Will he have to take a pay cut to play, or could he stay in Madrid? Thanks.

06 Aug 2012 15:31:23
Conflicting reports on SSN. One minute it's stating that a loan deal for Afelley may be in the offing, with Arsenal and Liverpool waiting to pounce. Next thing his agent says its 'very unlikely' that he will leave Barcelona this summer...

I hope we get him, ideal replacement for Kuyt on the right wing. Bit more skillful and much quicker than Kuyt, and a loan with an option to buy would be in our interests.

He's no good , he's equal in ability to stewart downing, he just wouldnt cost as much, but that dosent make him a good player. he dosent score goals either, dunno why people are so obsessed with him

He had a career before he went to Barca. Dunno how you can say he is comparable to Downing, totally different players playing in different leagues. Granted they both have heads but, aside from that...

06 Aug 2012 14:53:09
So Ed002, you don't think it impossible that D Agger, Carroll, Adam and Suarez (if the offer you've mentioned is successful) will all depart this summer?
You've also previously been of the view that Johnson may be sold too.

How really practical is it that we could lose (and replace) that many players, what with only some 23 days left of the window... all the while making additions?

We are traditionally slow-movers who lumber and wander in the market like deer calf separated from its mother.
Honestly I doubt it.

But, ed, if we do lose all of those players, you think they'll be duly and timeously replaced?
And who in your opinion would be realistic "like-for-like" replacements?

Isla has since went to Juve. Amorebieta's been tipped to come in for Agger. Allen (don't much about this oke) probably for Adam, I think.
So who'd realistically and adequately replace Suarez and Carroll? Your take, ed?

Baie dankie
Ray Burmeister {Ed002's Note - I don't know about Adam, but I would not be surprised to see Agger and Carroll go.

In addition to what I have been saying all year, it is clear Suarez to me that has spent the summer the summer keeping his profile up and the initial meeting in Spain with his Italian representative, his agent and (entirely co-incidently) Pavel Nedved; his visit to Turin to attend a Juventus game and the statements of Martin Caceres; Suerez's statement about the FA not giving him a fair chance; Suarez's dig at Manchester United. Ferguson sticking his oar in forcinh Henry in to making the rather naive statement to try and calm matters. If it was anyone but Suarez would you not think time had come Ray? How much of a real shock would it be to hear a well worded statement saying what a wonderful club Liverpool is, great support during the difficult times, Dalglish great friend and manager, loves the city and the people, world's greatest fans, but cannot get a fair deal with the FA, Manchester Uniter are big brother, sadly moving to Turin or Milan or wherever. REgardless at least one offer will be made for Suarez in the next 10 days.

As for replacing the players it is well in hand and youngsters are perhaps stepping up. If people want to give Sterling a chance as they say all season, then give him a role playing the same number of games as say Maxi. Morgan - worth a shot or not? Robinson - any future? Borini has arrived. Allen seems close. Dempsey perhaps. Amorebieta perhaps. Mirallas perhaps. The now near legendary "star" loan or even two will arrive. There are options and there are efforts clearly being amde as Macca says.}

ED suarez has said today that he wants to win things with lfc next season and that he is really looking foward to working with rodgers, clubs can bid all they like but he is staying {Ed002's Note - Jolly good.}

Fantastic response Ed002 so thank you. While it all makes so much perfect sense, I just want to stick my fingers in my ears and scream "I'm not listening, la la la la la la!" like a two year old kid. I honestly think we'd be a considerably weaker team without either Suarez or Agger, so next season without maybe both of them is a major concern. Never mind, it's all part and parcel of being a supporter these days. As you say, let's just hope there's a method to this seeming madness.

Cheers,

Sean

We probably could let all those players go and probably go down, to replace all those players in one go, for f**k-sake try to have some form of sense in you posts

Be interesting if a bid of say 30m+ was tabled for suarez t test our resolve. If we were t get say 35 for him and 20 for agger and also reduce our wage bill with other squad players leaving we could possibly have 60m + t replace and reinvigorate the squad with 3 or 4 top class or future top class stars. Dont get me wrong id rather we keep both but the inevitability in my opinion of both being moved on will slowly gather momentum.Unfortunately!

To the first person that replied to this regarding Suarez's statement - Your an person.

To the third person saying that it would be completely implausible to sell 2 top players in the same transfer window - Your an person.

When will people grow up and realise that sometimes a club does things that some fans don't like. Sometimes these things work in the clubs favour, sometimes they don't.
Personally i don't want either players to go, but being a fan and a REALIST, it could well happen that both do go.

Tom

I dont question your view Ed002 and he continues to do himself no favours however I find it somewhat ironic that Standard Chartered are worried about what Suarez will do/has done to their good name when there are far heavier accusations that Standard should be addressing. It would be a real pity to loose Suarez however I am somewhat resigned to it.

i have to reply to this post on 2 counts ed u and Macca have allways said these owners are here to get liverpool back to the top Q no1 how do they do that if the above mentioned go Qno2 if we are buying players solely for a sell on value does that tell our fans we are a selling club, or just ther here to make money and sell on. At the end of the day supporters need to know because some of what im hearing is ridiculous u cant build a championship winning team selling ur best players year in year out. I for one as a liverpool supporter all my life cant see the blue lining in that , as its fsg and them only that will benefit from a club founded on traditions of bringing the best young talent thru, not to be sold to feature in our first team and hold a part of LFC within them. people gone mad with tiki taka football but wait a minute have barca sold any of ther greats, i think u'll find the answer to be no most players that are ther wer ther from a very young age and dont want to leave maybe im wrong but usent that be our great club. All im saying is putting things into respective we are slowly watching the decline of our club from the shankly way , which was to play for liverpool u have to have liverpool blood in ur veins. Now to play for LFC u got to be young and after a good season ur on the move our new stadium shud be named the emirate model 2 . rant over but im one of the fans that saw great football last season results didnt go but we finished in a false position.

now on to Rodgers, when roy was manager he never had the bad performances that weve seen in the past few weeeks even when he picked a young team they wer competitive. I want players that want to play for liverpool want to succeed at liverpool and more than anything if ther good enough be liverpool legends. It just seems we r settling for mediocracy which was never an ounce weight or figure of the man we call SHANKLY. i dont want higuain i dont want cazorla just players that will make liverpool proud . YNWA LFC fan for 50 yrs {Ed002's Note - Players are transient employees of the club, they come and go. Players are not being bought solely for their sell on value. Liverpool spend more in transfers than they take in in sales - so Liverpool is not a "selling" club.}

06 Aug 2012 14:18:18
Hi eds and fellow reds. Just wondering if there was any development with Kevin Mirallas? Is there any confirmed interest from anyone (in particular us) or was it all just media speculation?

Cheers in advance! {Ed002's Note - Lille, Toulouse and, in particular, Arsenal and Werder Bremen have been showing an interest in Mirallas after a move to Bayern Munich failed to materialise. Unconfirmed reports identify interest from Liverpool.}

06 Aug 2012 14:17:46
hi eds is the dempsey deal off do u think its hard to see it go through now with such a delay i would have loved to have seen him at liverpool he really would suit rodgers style of play i think let me know what u think thanks great site. {Ed002's Note - Unless Fulham relax their demands it will be off.}

Fulham are really hard to deal :/
What are there demands here? {Ed002's Note - There is a difference between the asking and offer price.}

06 Aug 2012 14:12:52
if we get a id of around 20-23mill for aggerr we should take it, yes he is class and a top player but these days defenders arnt usually that expensive so to get money like that would be great, then we could buy a top CB fo 10-15mill and spend the rest on boosting the attacking option, that way we have a great replacement for agger and an overrall better team.
cheers
huxleypig

I honestly think you're underestimating the impact Agger has on our team. £15mil isn't going to buy half the player Agger is.

You don't have a clue mate, name 1 great cb that we can get for 15m, you can't. Getting rid of Agger will be like the Alonso transfer, we play worse then people like Reina, Suarez, Skrtle all leave and we are basically screwed.

Ummm thiago silva 40M yh he is a good player but if he goes for 40 then agger should go for at least 30 maybe 35 he is solid skillful adaptable quick and strong as well as consistent and determined

Amorebieta...

If by getting rid of Agger, we have Tello + cash, then what would you think?

As a united fan u guys have coates he looks strong and solid similar to pique theres ur replacement....and u could just through that money off the carroll bill....btw that goal he scored last season was a peach...

I actually agree with you mate. People are fuming but the fella missed half the season again through injury. 20million for a player like that is definitely worth it. An saying 15million wont buy half the player he is is also a joke. How much did we pay for agger and skrtel in the first place? of course you can buy a player of that quality. Ridiculous statement.

There is always value to be found out there mate look at how much agger cost us t sign, 6m was it? Pique only cost a few more i believe and I could be wrong but thiago silva only cost a similar amount when milan bought him

Erm, Agger, Skrtel and Coates all cost less than £15m?
Vidic?
Collocinni?
Jagielka?
Cahill?
Kompany?
Hangerlaand?

Shall we do Serie A and the Primera etc...

Of course you can pick up bargains in all positions? If we are as skint as is suggested, and somebody will pay £20m plus for a perma crocked player, we will have to consider selling...

Simple as that.

Hope he stays though.

Eddie

That's just in the premier league, off the top of my head?

We don't want to sell one of the top CB's in the world. I can't think of any decent replacement that would prefer to play europa league than champions league.

So because he missed half the season he should be sold? Right then we should just sell Gerrard then, some people don't understand how good Agger really is.

Ok the fact is he play's well for us when fit.but agger is a sick note. if we get top money and a player from manc city i would take it,coat's in you come son.walk on walk on,jay essex red for life red till dead

There are plenty of good defenders out there, most whom can play more than half of the games in a season. Yes Agger is a great defender and stood out in the Denmark team in the Euro 2012 finals but we're always waiting for the next string of injuries to come along.

It's hard to hear one of the quality players at our club is leaving but honestly for £20 that's good money, especially for an injury prone player. I'll leave the replacing of him up to our club. What do you think ed's?

Cheers eds.
TommyB

Eddie, do you play eve online? Only the term 'perma' is used in that game alot! :P

And you're right, many defenders out that that can play more than half the season.
Cheers,
TommyB

This is where you have to appreciate Benitz and all the work he did retaining the better players particularly after the Americans ran out of funds during the first takeover. Unfortunately FSG have now ran out of funds but we do not have a strong character like Benitez to stand up to them. Nasty feeling all the better players will be sold and replaced with inferior ones!!

Don't the ed's say around 10m will secure Kjaer?

06 Aug 2012 13:12:06
Any updates on the Gaston Ramirez situation? {Ed002's Note - Nothing beyond Inter asking about him again - as an option to Moura.}

06 Aug 2012 13:07:22
ed any chance we could do a straight swap with barca agger for villa {Ed002's Note - I don't know. Villa has never wanted to play outside of Spain and has serious recent injury issues. Would be a risk in my view.}

There was a douchey quote attributed to him about not wanting to go to Liverpool... "I don't even like the Beatles".

That was years ago now but I still don't like him, a straight swap seems very unfair to us.

Villa, Aguero, Alves - That Benitez guy sure knew how to spot a player didn't he? :(

Are you crazy?

Villa turned 30,huge wages,serious injury from which we don't even know whether he's recovered and you're suggesting we swop him for Agger? The other guy asked if you're crazy and I KNOW you're crazy!

06 Aug 2012 12:22:23
Hi Ed's,

Apologies for posting in Rumours however it is with regards to Agger...

With Barcelona never wanting to pay the full amount for players (as in what the selling team believe the player is worth) and how they "alledgedly" talk about the players they want prior to purchasing....

Do you think Agger is definately a target and if he is do you think they will try to sweeten the deal with player swaps and loans?

I.e. 12M + Tello (perm) + Allefy on loan?

Thanks for your time.

Hoola {Ed002's Note - Barcelona are interested - any deal such as those mentioned would be speculation right now but perhaps not out of the question.}

Lol its affely {Ed002's Note - Actually it is Afellay.}

Good point, Barca always haggle because they're awesome and every player should want to be there, relying on the player to push for a move or the club relenting because they don't want to be stuck with an unsettled player.

I hate their attitude!

I love Agger, he will be awesome there and I'd prefer that to him going to city.

Can we have enough money for Hummels + Cuenca or Tello - that'd put me in a happy place.

I would take that, with option to buy affeley for 5 mil.

10 million plus tello and affellay and villa on a season long loan.

I'd take that deal all day long i'm afraid, as much as I like Agger as a player and a person. 12M to buy a replacement defender, plus an exciting young talent like Tello AND a potential bargain purchase of a Dutch International? Definitely. Don't see it being on the cards though.

Rugby Parker

Doubt we could get Hummels, but I think the likes of Amorebieta, Howedes, Godin, Mussacchio could well be within our grasp.

RedSG

RedSG - Yea Hummels was a bit of a fantasy idea, no harm in dreaming though. My other preference would be cloning and recreating a 26 year old Sami Hyypia :)

If we keep Skrtel I have a feeling that we might already have enough to get by on, if we're lucky with injuries.

It'd be sad to lose Agger, but if the transaction went that way I'd be pretty happy with it. Turn Agger into a good young player and the money to buy a replacement? Can't really beat that deal.

Thanks Ed (apologies for the spelling (I knew I should've said the dutch winger whose been injured all last season ;o) )..

Thanks for replying to the posts, it's interesting seeing what others may think - personnally I'd rather Skrtel went however as someone pointed out - Agger has missed a lot of football during his time here; however I could see the benefit in that deal to us (young players and money for a replacement).. however that would depend on the players wanting to come to us as well.

Hoola

Hi eds

Is there anything in the fact that Tello of Barcelona has not been given a squad number for the upcoming season, whereas his young rival cuenca has been given the number 23? Are we interested in Tello?

Ste {Ed002's Note - Barcelona have no plans for the player under the new manager. I understand that there remains a slim chance of a loan deal to Ajax as part of a deal for another player but I suspect he will be sold rather than head to the B team. My understanding is that general enquiries about the player's availability have been made by Porto, Seville, Malaga and Liverpool. Discussions about loans of one type or another have been discussed by Valencia, Ajax and Atletico Madrid. I also understand that Benfica have now made a proposal to Barcelona - but I don't know what it is. So there is clear interest from Liverpool.}

Why is everyone so keen on Tello? He is completely one dimensional and overrated.

Tello is a player who doesn't fit in the Barca system, he has no delivery, hogs the ball and seems to lack vision. On the upside he is only 20 and has bags of speed... uhm he is very fast. Rodgers would have to turn him into a player, but if Barca couldn't mold him...

Ibrahim Afellay's agent has confirmed that the Barcelona midfielder would consider a loan move away from the Nou Camp. (Skysports)

06 Aug 2012 12:04:21
ed is the reported interest in quaresma true, have they bid 6.3m

thanks

wafa {Ed002's Note - I am aware of the rumours but have no confirmation.}

06 Aug 2012 11:55:08
Ed how much do you reckon we could get Amorebieta for ? around 10 million pounds
Also any truth taht Mancity have bid 20 million for Agger ?
I would rather try and sell him to Barcelona But knowing the persons they will not offer 20 million pounds. {Ed002's Note - At a guess about 9.4M euros with add ons rising to 11M euros.}

Ed. are you taking the mickey here or is this info u have on prices, seems quite specific?

Welsh Steve {Ed002's Note - The statement stands on what it says.}

Ed002 - 9.4m euros is pretty specific to be a pure guess. I take it there is genuinely some serious interest from the club for you to have a figure detailed to .x million (by this I mean an enquiry which has had a response of an exact number we would have to pay)? PK

Oooh you tease, Ed!

Welsh Steve

9.3m with add ons

06 Aug 2012 11:08:54
Hi eds

What teams have looked at agger? And who's the most realistic team he will go to if sold? Also do you know of any centre backs we have looked at? I really hope we don't sell him although 20+ million would be quite nice to have

Thanks {Ed002's Note - Manchester City have made offers and Barcelona have shown interest recently.}

Ed's - If Agger is to leave, will it be a case of the player wanting to go or the club actually selling him?

If it is the latter, then why would the club and indeed Rodgers look to sell one of the few defenders we have that is comfortable on the ball which "fits" Rodgers possession, pass and move style?

Is it a case of raising funds, "funds" which we have constantly been informed were/are supposedly there already? {Ed002's Note - There have been offers for the player and perhaps he has said he would like to consider them.}

Agger has stood by us through thick and thin and signed contracts at times when we utterly blew as a team. I personally would not begrudge the lad a dream move to Barca at age 28, provided we got £20m for him. Gutted to see him go if he does; but as with Kuyt - sometimes you have to reward a player for their loyalty and service and get on with replacing them. Spurs could learn a thing or two from Liverpool in this regard with their ridiculous stance on Modric. Shaggy, Owen and Torres all wanted out and off they went. Cannot see someone as classy as Agger going to an English rival. Not his style.

Any idea what region the offer was in ed or was there any players involved coming the other way ?
Johnaldinioh {Ed002's Note - Around £20M.}

Any idea how much mancity have offered ed and would we consider it?
Ruben {Ed002's Note - See above.}

He is still under contract make him stay for the next seaon like other clubs do

06 Aug 2012 11:07:51
Hi eds I've read in a couple of news sites Carroll is set to stay....is there any truth to it?
Kabir {Ed002's Note - I really don't know - it seems way more likely to me that he will go.}

Hope he stays. Best striker we have by far.

06 Aug 2012 10:55:58
Hey Ed(s) who is the most likely centre back in your opinion to come in if Agger were to leave?

I know BR has looked at Howedes of Shalke and amorebieta of A. Bilbao but is there anyone else we could be interested in?

I thought Vertonghen would of been a perfect replacement as his game is very similar to Agger?
Skurks {Ed002's Note - Amorebieta is available and Liverpool has shown interest. Kjaer is available but I don't know if Liverpool want to go that way.}

I heard Amorebieta has a release clause of 25 million euros but we could get him for closer to 12 million euros?
He seems bait hot headed to me and could get a few red cards playing in the Premier league...
Skurks

My understanding is that Kjaer is on the list of potential replacements should Skrtl move on and that Amorebiatta is on the list of potential replacements should Agger move on. RED LENIN

Also serdar tasci {Ed002's Note - I doubt it - a major coup if they could land him given interest from Barcelona and Manchester City (As an alternatiev to Agger) and AC Milan.}

06 Aug 2012 10:36:53
Wel ed

Just wondering the big loan signing could it be benzema as I can recall there was some intrest last season and the relationship between Brendan and Jose would help

Regards

Paul {Ed002's Note - It won't be Benzema Paul.}

Are you for h*****g real?! What a joke

Benzema, what a ridiculous post

06 Aug 2012 14:02:36
In your opinion who is available for loan that would fall Into the type of player that Macca has described it might.

Thanks
Paul {Ed002's Note - I am not goin to try ans speculate further than I have done - perhaps "star" would exclude the liek of Afellay.}

06 Aug 2012 10:23:21
Eds, what's the situation with pacheco? Cheers {Ed002's Note - I don't know that there is one at this time. I think we will know more when it becomes clear who else is leaving and who is going on loan.}

06 Aug 2012 10:39:18
Ed002 is joe allen close to signing for liverpool or is it miles away yet or is it a matter of time please post and a reply would be appreciated {Ed002's Note - I think there is every chance of it going through pretty soon.}

06 Aug 2012 10:12:03
Hi Eds, what's the situation with Joe Cole? Will he be sold or kept? {Ed002's Note - I would imagine that is a matter of discussion right now. At present it looks like he is staying however I would not be surprised if that were to change.}

Sell him. I'd take 3 million for him. Hes looking dogged and old and well off the pace. Sorry Joe but in your early days what a player. But now, nope. Off ya pop. Jamie

Won't get 3mill for him.

I know, 3 million is optimistic....But who knows. Jamie

Pay him off and get rid, too old and is not match fit.

He's not that good, not good tactially. can do a few tricks and back heels

06 Aug 2012 10:09:38
Just saw Ricardo quaresma is a 6.3 mil target for Liverpool, unsure to as why they didn't look at krasic or Elia both formally of juve.

Elia is very decent, but physically i don't think he would suit the Prem. I may be wrong but that's my opinion. Quaresma, when at Chelsea on loan, was decent and coped well. Jamie

When was Quaresma at Chelsea on loan?! {Ed002's Note - About three years ago and I don't recall him playing more than a handful of games.}

Quaresma would have been something to get excited about in 2007. But has not done anything for years

Get him, for that money well worth it, can turn a game with a piece of magic in a flash, exactly the kinda player we need.

Quaresma would make perfect sense, perfect right winger. Can beat his man, dribble his way out of tight situations, great acceleration and pace, definate show-boater. We were first interested in him in 2005 when Rafa apparently wanted him and asked him to fit into his style of play, meaning doing the same defensive duties as Kuyt. Quaresma took it then that Liverpool wanted him to fill a position which he was not as a player. So he said no. It was documented in an interview back then that he said: "If Liverpool had asked me to be myself, I would have loved to play there". But since he thought he was being asked to be something he isn't, he said no to a move. Shortly thereafter, Scolari took over at Chelsea and due to the Portugese question, he moved. Chelsea quickly fired Scolari and guss Hiddink took over; and this was at a time when Chelsea were losing games. Hiddink adapted a hard-to-beat formation of 4-3-2-1 (Christmas tree), using Essien and the other Africa player, plus Lampard as holding mids. (Logical when you are not tight at the back, you make yourself hard to beat). So Quaresma suddenly was playing for their reserves. Hiddink moved on after the job was done, and Quaresma was available for a knock down price, and in came (of all teams) Besiktas for him. no disrespect intended. He couldn't go back to Porto, and no one fancied him on the form he had shown in the Chelsea reserves. Off he went and has stayed there.

If he comes, Liverpool will be gettin a player who lives for stylish football and creating goals. Seeing as we have seriously struggled with penetration and being able to get around the back of defences and cause problems, Ricky Q would be a great shout for the next 5 seasons or more he has in him. Seeing as he is playing for Besiktas right now, his asking price won't be that high, and I think under Brendan, he would seriously fancy a move to LFC. (Hence his agent already having been sounded out for a move, and a rumoured bid having been placed.)

One last thing about Ricardo. He went through the same schooling as CR7, and most of their coaches though Ricardo was better.

Sometimes life sucks when it comes to chances matched with ability. I think a move to Liverpool would suit him 1, and 2, for us, would give us something special in the final 3rd. Couple that will Allen signing, I don't think we would too many more signings. Can you imagine, Suarez coming at you from the hole position, Borini in front of him, Quaresma linking up from the right flank, and Sterling from the left? Stevie G in behind Luis making it all tick ?

Liverpool haven't had a player like Quaresma since McManaman.

Gets my vote !

YNWA!!

That last reply from Andy W was one of the best little posts I've read on this site since I discovered it a few months ago. Well written and informative. Thank you, Andy.

Morning Eds I think it will be Agger to Barc with Affelay as the loan player coming the other wa,would be a good deal if we get 20 mill for him

Thanks
Mkdlfc

This seems the most likely scenario - I doubt we would get Villa, and Tello is not "star" class as of yet. However, I do believe that we must insist on having the option to buy Affelay.

Drigan

Still a bit worried about Afellay's fitness after seeing how horrible he was in the euros but then again everyone was bad for the netherlads except Van Der Faart.

Hope you're right, shame all these rumours regarding Agger leaving or not. Barca would be ace for him, wouldn't want him to sign for M.City as we would be playing against him at least twice a season, love Agger's spirt and drive, a true LFC player with fire in his belly! Will be hugely missed if he leaves.

20mill or 50mill we will waste it on poor players unless we learn

Hi eds, just wanted to ask, IF Agger leaves for 20m (more or less). Is there any chance we might go for javi martinez? As I feel this would be a more than adequate replacement for Agger, one of the few. Or is that not possible due to no interest, player not wanting to leave, club not wanting to sell etc..

Would like to hear your thoughts!

JanBorman {Ed002's Note - I really don't see Martinez as an option at all. There has been interest in Amorebieta - he will certainly be one option.}

20 million for agger? you're having a laugh mate {Ed023's Note - He's better than Lescott and look at the fee he went for}

Ed,Is Amorebieta in the last yr of his contract, if so we might be able to get him for a reasonable price.I think he would be an excellent replacement.At the end of the day if Agger wants to go, he goes.I would be made up if we could get someone like Amorebieta in. {Ed002's Note - It has a year to run as you say - he won't be expensive price wise. Perhaps 9.4M euros with addons rising to 11M euros.}

Javi Martinez? He's a midfielder not a centre half. Mad some folk.

He played the second half of last season as a centre back, did well there too. But I wouldn't see him as a long term option there.

Lmao, Martinez will be a short term CB option because we can easily get develop Coates there. I really dont see the difference between Coates and Agger except that Agger has more experience and is established. IMO we should go all out for Martinez as he can replace Gerrard in my opinion....

Martinez has a quoted price of near 40M. Bayern, Man United and Barca are all interested to certain degress. Can't see him as an option for Liverpool

@ed002 i think lescott and agger are at about the same level, though i believe lescott was younger at the time than agger is now. (could be wrong). the key difference is that lescott is english, and manchester city are willing to pay a premium for english players. particularly at the time when they bought lescott as the new regulations on international players were coming in.

i can't see agger fetching more than 15 mil. i'd say he'd go for about 14 to barca if anyone

Eds, any interest in adebayor from us??

{Ed006's Note - No.}

Surely he's in contention for the "Star player" loan rumour. Obliviously his wages would be a major hurdle I guess

Red-RayRay

Hope not. If there was, we'd potentially have the most unpopular/hated forward line in Britain, Bellamy, Suarez, Adebayor. Lovely!

Just wondering if the chances of buying/loaning Periera have changed (checked previous posts and not much has been mentioned recently)?
Thanks

hi eds, do you think the reason that we havent seen in comings apart from Borini is due to the euros and olympics taking place and therefore slowing down the whole process?or was it that BR decided to wait until now to make the moves for players?

{Ed006's Note - Good question. I think you could be right about the whole Olympics thing. I am sure a lot of work is going on though.}

This week will be the 1st time Rodgers has all the squad available to work with him, where he can analyse the squad properly and decide who stays/goes/gets loaned and importantly the areas he needs to strengthen.

I think the Olympics and Euros did slow the market

I reckon it's a combination of the 2 and the budget we have that has meant player arrivals have not been as numerous as many of us would want.

Importantly though, we have freed up a lot of space on the wage bill which can give us flexibility in the market.

FSG will sell all our best players if offer is right and replace them with cheap. Now this is called business for them

What this basically means is that it appears they have no more money to invest in the team. When results go pear shaped next season the fans will turn on them. Eventually the club will be sold again!!

That's probably why they have s***loads of money and you don't. You obviously know more about business.
To even suggest the americans have bought our club to ruin it is nothing but pure insane b*******. They are businessmen, business means MAKING money. How do you all think they're gonna MAKE money if they RUIN the club? The owners want us to win, of course. That is the aim, and the only way they ever gonna MAKE money out of the club is by making a winning team.
What else?

Well it has certainly won the most ridiculous post of the transfer window so far - mmm I know let's buy an English Football Club - ruin it and sell it off cheap - great business sense. The only thing you may have right is they will eventually sell again, but hopefully not for at least another 10 years.

John B

To be honest it is very difficult to reject a bid of 20m for a defender

Maxi, dirk, Aurelio and Aquilani our 'best' players? What planet do you live on?

Time will tell: If they do not make top 4 next season they may very well sell. It does not make good business sense to run a business without profit. Selling your best players i.e Agger certainly won't help. A lot of fans I have spoken to also are having doubts about how much money they have. Like I said time will tell!!

The problem is Fsg can't afford club like liverpol. If we start loseing our best players eg agger then we can't replace them with same quality coz they can't afford to pay wages. Any decent players will demand decent wages

After Dalglish`s mad and wayward spending last season,FSG,now with a season of football knowledge behind them atr just being a lot more circumspect with their money.Lets just wait until end of transfer window before passing judgement.

Mr Ed.

Nice rumour bro.

Agreed with earlier point as you do have to pay good wages to keep the better players like Agger. We will see what happens towards the end of August but signs are not encouraging.

You can't reject a bid of 20 million for a player who plays nothing more than 20 games a season, suarez could be sold for 30 million

Its great that now people are turning on the owners just cause big names aren't coming in,they put a lot of money up for king kenny spent a lot of money on average player so now they want BR to get things right without costing a fortune,that will mean getting rid of players as they don't want to pay wages for players that aren't really needed or wanted..there will be some good players coming in soon to get us back to the top four..after that the owners would be willing to invest more in transfers and perhaps big names will come.and don't forget they are trying to sort the stadium out.....I think BR is the right choice for the job and the next couple seasons he will show that...the owners are 100% in for the long haul

We need to keep our best players. Selling Agger or Skrtel is a mistake. Should we not offer them longer contracts on a better salary?

So what about all the money kenny was allowed 2 spend??
Jack sheperd

Crrection on earlier comment owners did not put a lot of money in: They re-couped £50 million from Torres, £6Million from Babel, £1.5 from Ngog another £1million from the sale of two reserve players. Recently they got back £1million from Kuyt and wages saved from Aquillani & Rodriguez. They serviced the debt & left a working capital to purchase players. Overall, I bet they didn't put all that money in for players? {Ed002's Note - After buying the club they have invested to the tune of about £120M so far. This is what it has cost in losses and transfers.}

Agree, we should try and keep our best players but it's a real fine balance when we're not in the Champions League. Unfortunately,since the birth of the Premier League, football is all about money. Moneybags Man United sold their soul and turned the club into a buisness back in the early 90's which has ultimately turned their success on and off the field. We need to come out of our "tradtion" bubble and start running the club as a business, it's the only way we'll see our glory days back. King Kenny spent big on average players but remember.....We sold Torres for 50m so the owners net outlay was not totally from their own pocket. It's not gonna be a quick fix so we just need to get behind the team and the manager and carry on being the 12th man at Anfield !

Totally agree mate. It does look bleak when it looks like the only addition is Borini but we just need to get behing them hopefully Suarez & Borini can score a lot of goals. My only concern is that if we do not achieve top 4 next season Suarez will be off too.

I agree i think all big names will go and champions league wages with them they will be replaced with swansea type wages

I can't believe the utter rubbish some of you lot are writing.
I've been coming on this site for the last couple years and thankfully the majority of posts are genuinely interested in what's happening with our club and are realistic with regards to the future.
Unfortunately there are a certain few that have unbelieveably, unrealistic expectations, that will accuse the first decent owners we've had in years of having no idea of what they're doing, when in fact I'm surprised you lot know how to turn your PC on (I wish you couldn't).
I for one am pleased to have owners like this, trying to do things sensibly and for the long term.
If it happens this year, brilliant. If it doesn't, I'll still be here supporting the club as a whole next year.

Now stop moaning and try doing the same.

Cheers

Paul

In the last few years the wage bill has ballooned, but players haven't performed in line with their salaries and the club hasn't achieved what we need it to (ie CL) in order to keep financing such a high wage bill.
Of the players that have left so far, how many are regarded as crucial to getting back in the CL?

We need new players but we also need the wage bill trimmed so we can afford to add new players to it.

I stand by what I said last night, Ozil will be signing on loan. Had a mad day at Chester races, I was in the County stand with my friend/source and we wasted our money. Abandoned after the 3:05 (probably good for me, I was £45 down :) at least I never got wet though eek a mouse

This is just an odd post. Thanks for the info about Ozil but what was the need to tell us of your daily activities!?!?

Do you have a source? If mourinho let ozil go out on loan and I was a Madrid fan I would be disgusted.

Yeah rained off wasn't it, and you can't back horses to swim. Johndog

Unless you spotted Ozil at the races, why mention it ?

An 02.30 post implies oneself being smashed. I would ssooner do that than text a random bird off my phone. As for the 45, I wouldn't lose too much sleep.

DaveyBootle

I am a huge fan of Madrid, i have watched them play all last season and i can guarantee that this is made up. Ozil was an outstanding player last season overshadowing a still very good kaka.
Completely made up and it would be quite silly to believe such a rumour.

Agree with DaveyBootle on this one, i have a lot of respect for the poster who has the willpower (when completely wasted) to post a football related rumour over texting an ex-girlfriend or random bird seeking late night drunken comfort. Id way rather wake up to a ridiculous statement like this than a message sentbox containing every female name saved to contacts bar 'mum'.

Ed's, is there any interest in Gio Dos Santos? Everytime I watch him for Mexico he looks good but I still wouldnt be sure if he can cut it in England.

Also following Macca's latest post, I know you dont want to speculate who the players are but do you have any idea are we more interested in players currently in England or playing abroad? {Ed002's Note - There is no interest I know of in Dos Santos. As for interest in players, I did not know of interest in Walcott. Nothing else there should be a shock.}

Rodgers was in the States scouting Dos Santos for Swansea when the Liverpool job came up. Don't think he will be viewed as someone who will improve the Liverpool squad tho!

Mourinho has just said that sahin can go out on loan because real have alonso, sami, lassana ...and OZIL. No chance whatsoever!

I don't think we'll be looking at Sahin, him and Allen are too similar.
