People who are claiming that Huang will be the best bidder for the club are either a fly on the wall in the Barcap offices or naive newspaper junkies that believe all this media hype and guess work. We have not had any credible or accurate reports re the takeover other than from Martin Broughton, the club secretary etc. Even John Aldridge is talking rubbish clutching at straws, like he did in the Echo when he reported his fears that we would sell Nando. That is how little even the closet people to the club know, so please just wait for an official statement from the club. All this copying and pasting with the occasional comment from our resident clairvoyant Blair Mayne is just well written football astrology...

To the person who wrote this:
You obviously don't realise that there is Newspaper talk and there is Web site talk -
Newspaper talk tends to be a load of lies copied by lazy journalists from the Times to the Scum to the Telegraph or whoever – most of it total invention.
Web site talk tends to be from the REAL PEOPLE IN THE KNOW - there is one person in particular who is posting on a certain web site who has been unbelievably accurate over the past few years who is well connected (his record to the people who follow him is unquestioned, he is almost GOD like, some people say it is Dalglish or Robbie Fowler but no one knows who it is). This person is DEFINITELY well placed and knows all the right people at Liverpool and in the City and everything he has said recently with regard to the take over has been reported in the press usually 48 hours later! So if I tell you that this fella said something on Saturday then you can bet your bottom dollar that by Monday it will be in all the major newspapers or not at all (because they still don't know) but will ultimately be proved to be true!
I say that Huang is the man and his plan will make Liverpool great again and the envy of EVERY other sports team in the world. Plus he has a rocket or two up the ar*e of G&H that will totally f*ck up their attempts to stop him taking over.
Remember Huang had the choice of making his plans either known or kept private. He chose to make them public (widely reported in all newspapers) – why?? Because he wants to put pressure on the board to make the right decision. So if Broughton decides on another investor – that investor has to: Offer more than: 300 million for the club, 100 million towards the new stadium, and 50 million for RH in the transfer market, plus he has to promise to "crack" the Asian market (potentially worth billions). Is there an investor out there of the so called 5 other bids who can promise that – NO CHANCE!!

Just heard that Turan is on his way. Kenny Dalglish was out in Turkey a few weeks ago to speak with him. Deal will be announced in the next week. Number 7 shirt has been left vacant for a reason...it makes sense that joe cole and jovanovic had to change shirt numbers...a number 7 will def be signed and it looks like Turan...this is why we haven't heard any rumours about him lately...a sure sign that he is coming and we want to keep it under wraps.

roy hodgson has said that we will sign at lest 2 more players before the end of the transfer window rite?

personal i think they will be poulsen and remy.

some people may think no it wont be remy but the fact is he is the most likely the other player we will get due to the fact tht he is traveling around england to check out all the interested clubs and we badly need abother striker.

im also concerned about aquilani getting his place on the starting 11 because he really looks like a class player, mi conern is due to the fact joe cole is playing in attacking midfield with gerrard also going forward, this means there most be a player in holding midfield which looks like poulsen will get tht postion.

LFC Starting XI 2010-11

This isnt a rumor or a banter i was just wondering do liverpool fans think kenny haung reakky dosent care about fans even tho he said they would be a main prioroty but so far no one knows anything about the future of the club

06 Aug 2010 23:20:49
Roy

obviously it wont be ngog being the preffered choice, if torres played last night we would have won by atleast 4, and like i said before we need to buy a top class finisher to back up fernando because he is injured for more than half the season.

but who should it be?

Liverpool's search for a left-back could be resolved in the next week as Maynor Figueroa is set to demand a move away from Wigan, opening the door for Roy Hodgson to complete a deal for the Honduran. Wigan chairman Dave Whelan has stated that key players will only be sold to bigger clubs, meaning a move to Stoke is unlikely. Liverpool need not get complacent in their bid to sign Figueroa, as Fiorentina have shown an interest following their failure to wrap up the signing of Emiliano Insua. Interest from Liverpool cooled after Wigan boss Roberto Martinez was set to demand £9m for the full-back to fend off interested parties, but it is thought that he would settle for a fee of around £6m. Figueroa's agent claims his client is willing to move to Merseyside, so a deal could be completed as early as next week, making him available for Liverpool's opening game with Arsenal.

Meanwhile, Christian Poulsen will almost certainly sign for Liverpool next week, with a deal expected to be completed before Wednesday. He will cost Liverpool around £5m which will prompt talks with Inter Milan over the sale of Javier Mascherano to continue. Roy Hodgson is said to be looking at a player plus cash deal for Mascherano with Samuel Eto'o being touted as a potential target. As of yet, nothing major has developed in regards to any deal. Meanwhile, Lucas Leiva could still leave Anfield as Palermo look set to up their offer for the Brazilian. Liverpool are said to be looking for around £8m for the Brazilian but Palermo chiefs are only willing to go to £6m, an offer they believe could tempt Liverpool to sell. Should Liverpool sell Lucas, they will almost certainly make a move for Standard Leige midfielder Steven Defour, with Standard said to be looking for £10m.

Roy Hodgson is on the search for a striker which is proving relativly difficult. Man City have recently said that Emmanuel Adebayor is not for sale, damping any potential move from AC Milan which would mean any deal for Huntelaar would be unlikely. Giampaolo Pazzani today vowed to stay at Sampdoria and see out the Champions League campaign before evaluating his options. It emerged this afternoon that Barcelona are looking to loan out talented young striker Bojan, and Valencia looks like his likely destination however Roy Hodgson may make a shock loan offer for the striker. It is believed that Bojan would prefer to stay in Spain and with Valencia losing David Villa, he would be guaranteed a place in the first team. The last resort for Hodgson would be Juventus striker David Trezeguet. Hodgson is an admirer of experience and the striker's age doesn't put him off. Hodgson believes his natural goalscoring ability would take the weight off Fernando Torres and would be confident that he would get the right service from the likes of Joe Cole, Steven Gerrard and Dirk Kuyt. Juventus are said to be looking for £6m for the Frenchman, which could be a bargain buy.

Hodgson will also make a cheeky loan offer to Barcelona for midfield playmaker Alexander Hleb. He has recently registered his interest in the Belarus international and is looking to add more creativity and depth to his squad. Barcelona are struggling to find a buyer who will match their £12m asking price, and rumour has it that they will demand half that fee or infact allow him to leave on a loan deal. Tottenham, Liverpool, Stuggart, Wolfsburg and Sevilla are all said to be interested.

well first of all, i have recently been impressed a lot with martin kelly and jonjo shelvey, however as much as i love pacheco i will admit he did struggle a bit the other night and this is why i believe we shouldnt expect too much of him, atleast for this season. we all know hell be a future world beater.
as for signings i believe that we have enough in midfield as lucas, gerrard, aquilani, spearing are enough i believe thats why i think we should spend the masch money on a big striker capable of holding the ball up( and a figure upfront rather than the unlucky ngog, who will be big soon) and scoring the goals needed when nando is not playing. i believe we should go for a big name not sure if we can sign him but it would be great if we can attempt to get eto in any deal with mascherano (im not assuring am just hoping). if not why not try for adebayor and as rumoured he will be available for abt 20 mill i mean him and torres upfront would be the most feared strike partnership. i believe we need 1 big player to take the pressure of nando and we can sustain a real title bid. left back is fine at the moment for me with aurelio, kelly and agger to cover.

if the chinese do buy liverpool, who's to say in 20 years time when the premiership is even more global and the odd premier game is played abroad that they won't decide to relocate liverpool fc to beijing or shanghai..
. . ..after all they went into tibet and said "that's ours"
china does what china wants. . . they play by their own rules. . . always have. . . always will

I know this is for rumours, but this nonsense of slating China is doing my head in, Do those in Britian remember a small thing called the British Empire, the biggest scale asset stripping exercise ever... people in glasshouses?!?!

No more transfer aquisitions in this window

the reason aurellio has re-signed ? because if the club is bought before the transfer deadline there is a deal in place for kaka! roy knows that having a couple of players from his homeland will help him settle in quicker! he likes the honesty of the prem and is desperate to come! thats a fact!! but we need the new owners in place first!!

Because kaka isn't out for 2 months... Doubt an injured player can pass a mediucal.

Just to clarify seems a lot of people seem to be asking, Danny Wilson WILL become classed as a Home Grown player assuming he stays in England/Wales for the next 3 years. I'd previously stated that you'd have to sign a player the day before his 18th birthday, but after checking the official rules I was wrong. The rules are needlessly complicated, but I'll try to explain! Rather than having to spend 3 years in the country a player has to have spent 3 seasons - seasons are dictated as running from 1st September to 31st August, so, as daft as it sounds, by the time we hit September Wilson will be entering his 2nd "season" in England. A players DOB is largely irrelevant too, they just look at which season he turns 21, so as Danny's currently 18, the 2010-2011 season is the year he'll turn 19, so NEXT season, i.e. 2011-12 will be when he turns 20 and in essence is his 3rd in England/Wales as he's already here now, (still in the EPL's calendar eyes, 2009-10!). Hope I've managed to explain that properly! This should hopefully become easier to follow as the years go by, working backwards is trickier though. Damien Plessis signed on 31st August 2007, but as he's now 22 I'm pretty sure he's NOT Home Grown... I think! Oh and somebody asked the other day when the 25 man squad has to be named - it's 5pm on 1st September.

For the record, Liverpool can piss the 8 HG rule without even having to delve into the kids who we might not have otherwise considered:

Gerrard, Carragher, Johnson, Cole, Kelly, Spearing, Darby, Shelvey are the obvious ones, but then there's also Pacheco & Gulacsi and then fringe reserves/kids Amoo, Ecclestone, Hansen, Ince, Robinson, Irwin etc. all of whom were under 21 on 1st January this year so can still play even if omitted from the 25 man squad.

So, with that in mind, whilst I'm sure Woy will take into consideration a players HG status regards buying/selling it's not a situation that's totally dictating his leanings one way or another regarding the 25.

Which reminds me, does anybody else think that some of the more important players should have squad numbers within the 1-25 range, i.e. Skrtel, Spearing, Kelly, Shelvey, Pacheco, Gulacsi?

Finally, just for the hell of it, my THOUGHTS, not rumours, just opinion, on who we might buy are:

Poulsen, a left-back, probably Figueroa and a striker - who I've no idea, but my gut says NOT Remy. IF big-bucks come in from a new owner I'd still anticipate Woy would be prudent, in fact he's said as much today and I can't see any marquee signings happening, but if I HAD to name one I'd say/hope for Dzeko.

In Woy we twust!

Jovanovic - Free
Wilson - 2m
Shelvey - 1.7m
Total: £34.7m

San Jose - 2.7m

I dont understand fellow fans thinking we need a whole lot of signings this summer!

Yes I know we finished 7th, but other than Alonso and Arbeloa, this is the same team that finished 2nd to Man U the season before last!

Last season was a blip! Rafa lost his way, didnt replace Alonso and injuries and lack of squad depth cost us.

Yes we dont have the finances of Man City or cannot go and spend a fortune on top players, but top players don't mean you're a good team!

The majority of the 1st team played in the 2008/09 season and when we needed to, we thumped Real Madrid, Man U and Villa when having a go!

Its clear Roy has different ideas. For a start, you'll see from last nights game his preferred formation is 4-3-3.

Stevie G played the Alonso role, and lets be honest Stevie is a better player than Alonso. Joe Cole played in Stevie's more forward position and played excellently. Jovanavic looked a more capable wide player than Riera or Benayoun.

Yes we will lose Mascherano who is one of the best holding players in the world, but with the money we will get for him, we can strengthen the team with a left back, holding player and foward/wide player!

These signings along with squad additions and the breakthrough of young reserve players means we are better equipped this year than last!!

There are better holding players out there than Poulsen, but I trust Roy in his decisions!

I do think we need a Remy or Turan or both along with the holding player!

If we get this without the takeover going through, we will be in a better position than we all dreamed we would be a month ago after the world cup!

Keep the faith 'pool fans!!

06 Aug 2010 22:41:32
This is 100%. Believe me or not it is up to you. I have been told this from a VERY reliable source who is always more or less spot on.

Turan deal is all agreed, personal terms and a fee have been done. We are just waiting to see out the Masherano saga and RH want to get rid of a couple of foreign players to help our british quota before bringing in any other foreigners i.e insua, cavalieri etc.

A 2nd choice keeper will be bought in and another DM when Mash leaves. Poulsen is a smokescreen for somebody else, yes we have registered interest but a deal will not materialise! Trust me POULSEN IS NOT COMING.

Striker definately will be signed but my source is not given much away on that.

This is my first post...hope u enjoy.

I am stunned that LFC supporters behave the way they do. I support Liverpool, but lets realize it, the truth is that LFC wont even get CL next year. Roy Hodgson is a man who know his job. He is going to help LFC to reach a new level and get out the deep s**t we were in when Benitez lost it. With signings like Joe Cole and Milan Jovanovic Roy has already done one hell of a job, but there wont be any big signings accept from the replacement of Javier Mascherano and maybe a new forward player. Sergio Aguero is so far out of our league I cant even get myself to understand it. Of course this is a web page for LFC rumours, and there is no doubt that we want the best for our club, but please stop this stupidity and get a grip. When people who support other clubs visit this page, they will have even more reasons to dislike the club and its supporters. So please don't make disgrace of my club

To the Person who said the above. Are you saying that Aguero is better than Torres I dont think so, so why is Aguero so out of our league. When it comes to Liverpool no player in this world is so out of our league, as you should know with it being "YOUR CLUB"

To this person who said this. I have never said aguero is better than torres. But it is interesting that you think that since we have torres we can get anyone. Well we cant. We're not even in CL, remember. And also, I still mean that the ones who threat this club the way it is suppost to be threated, is "allowed" to call it "my club" or whatever they like.

To the person who said the first and last bit of this. How is Aguero so far out of our league? If you are basing this on the fact that we are not in the champions league you have to take into account that athletico arent either. If aguero is a shrewd person he will see that liverpool have the potential to be huge in the next few seasons and if he leaves to go to liverpool he will still be playing in the europa league this season but has the chance next year to be part of a team which could be pushing for the champions league, same goes for a lot of players!just a thought!

I can't understand why everyone is getting so hung on the acquisition of a new left back. Figueroa will not swell the home grown contingent, and Bridge and Koncheskey are simply not good enough. Roy believes that he has found the answer to his problem in Martin Kelly, who has continually impressed every time that he has played.

The money that will be subsequently saved will be re-directed towards finding another midfielder (VDV), a winger/ wide midfielder (SWP) and a quality striker (Etoo as part of the Mascherano deal). Connor Wickham is another target but will be loaned back to Ipswich if acquired in this transfer window.

Agree with the comments about the left-back, disagree that we need more midfielders, especially not SWP who doesn't provide anything that our existing contingent don't. Another real goal-scorer, especially one who could sub for Torres when required but play wider role when Torres is fit, would be the perfect answer in my humble opinion. Eto'o?, quality but not the right attitude for 'Pool.

When mascherano is sold we would use the money to bring in loic remy and a decent striker

Delighted to see RH moving for Poulsen. He may be 30 but that has 2 advantages: an experienced campaigner at top level who can do the job for LFC for the next year until RH can afford to get someone better; leave enough money around for RH to buy someone decent upfront.

Trying to buy an inferior but more expensive option like Cattermole because he is English is a joke. Lucas is not a defensive midfielder so we do need a replacement for Masch. If it means Lucas is sold, so be it. RH knows that for Liverpool to jump right back into the top 4 this season he must have an experienced bunch of senior players. Besides, Poulsen is a spring chicken compared with the likes of the Lampard's, Scholes', Giggs' etc.

Cooments on the sale in tonight's Liverpool Echo;

"The proposed takeover of Liverpool by a Chinese consortium would not involve direct ownership by the country's government, although they may have a passive role in the organisation, it has been claimed."

Yes please, new owners who do not interfere with onfield matters.

"More details of the bid fronted by Hong Kong-based businessman Kenny Huang have come to light after it was revealed the Chinese investors are being assisted by Chicago-based company Sportscorp. The consortium have yet to table a bid, although Liverpool have now requested all parties prove by next week they have the money to back up their interest, but appear to be in pole position to replace American duo Tom Hicks and George Gillett."

Excuse me, Broughton states that we have 6 bids on the table and yet not one of them have so far provided 'proof of funds'. How much due diligence is being done if the club hope to declare a 'winner' by the end of next week?

"If successful Huang and Guang Yang, executive vice-president of Franklin Templeton Investments and chief investment officer of the China Life/Franklin Templeton Fund, would be in charge of a limited liability corporation in control of Liverpool.
Other investors, including China Investment Corp - the country's sovereign wealth fund - would be passive with no more than a 20% share."

The 20% initial stake is potential to grow, having CIC as a stakeholder is good for the future and the unknown.

"The Chinese bid has four major aims: to leave Liverpool debt-free; make significant investment and construct the long-awaited new stadium in Stanley Park; provide a considerable sum for transfers and expand more actively into the Asian market."

Yes please, this is what every supporter wants.

"However, those behind the plan - the broad details of which have already been submitted to Liverpool chairman Martin Broughton and Barclays Capital, who are running the sale of the club - insist their offer would not be financially beneficial to Hicks and Gillett. What is not one of our goals is the enrichment of the existing owners," said head of Sportscorp Marc Ganis, who suggested should the takeover be successful there would not be widespread change behind the scenes at Anfield.

As above; Yes please, this is what every supporter wants.

On the crap player list - what would the worst team look like...? Leeds. lol

No point talking about Defour - agent said he is not leaving Standard Liege this season

06 Aug 2010 21:08:01
SWP is not needed at anfield, he is too small and we can not afford the luxury of his wasteful ways and lack of defensive ability. If him and Johnson played in the same team we would get torn to shreds down our right wing... We need pace, power and someone with decent aerial ability to collect Reinas passes!

Ive just been told by a very reliable source that the player that Liverpool will be buying to fill the No 7 shirt is Turan.

Roy will be playing 4-3-3 this season and is happy to have Kuyt and Ngog as backup to Torres as the central striker.

He sees creative wider forwards as a priority as does not think he can rely on Jovanevic, Maxi, Babel and Pacheco as the only players to fill these roles throughout the season to provide attacking support to Torres.

It also seems that other than Turan and a replacment for Mascherano (who looks highly likely to be Poulson....who I dont rate!), a home grown left-back and keeper will be his only other signings - takeover or no takeover.

Roy seems to have his head screwed on! Why waste a non-home grown player squad place on Cavalieri and Insua as players like Brad Jones, Federici or Konchesky would not significantly weaken the side or squad!

In Roy we trust......................

china does what china wants............ they play by their own rules......... always have......... always will

to the fool who said this rubbish ^^^^

haha man you've got to be the dumbest thing i've ever heard, the possibility of playing a premier league game in china is slim, although it could happen. but to relocate the club to shanghai! haha what a fool.

Could Barcelona re-new thier intrest in Mascherano ..now that the Fabregas deal is a no-go. That could change a whole lot of things ?

06 Aug 2010 19:38:19
the reason aurellio has re-signed ? because if the club is bought before the transfer deadline there is a deal in place for kaka! roy knows that having a couple of players from his homeland will help him settle in quicker! he likes the honesty of the prem and is desperate to come! thats a fact!! but we need the new owners in place first!!

I'd rather we bid for Steven Defour or Eden Hazard than
Poulsen.6 million for a 30 yrs old is rather expensive.Might as well get younger british players like Huddlestone,
Michael Johnson or Lee Cattermole.
lee catermole was valued at £17 which is rediculous

there has been alot of talk about poulsen joining liverpool within the next week. i have read alot of articles but in none of them does it state a price or if it will be a free transfer.can anyone shed any light on this. finally there has been rumours that roy is plotting a bid to bring wanye bridge and swp to anfield, which i would love to happen but can not see happening as man city may be reluctent to do business with liverpool due to them not being allowed to talk to torres.

06 Aug 2010 19:19:02
Regarding comments made by certain individuals about Poulsen. While I agree he is not ideal there is also no way of knowing what kind of performances he will produce. So he's 30, big deal. The man is experienced and hungry to play. He's not like mascherano, but then who is? Mascherano is a great holding midfielder and one of the best tacklers in the world. He is however unimaginative and rash. While its sad to see him go, i say good luck to him. I'd rather have a hungry professional looking to prove himself than one who obviously wants to leave. Commitment, passion and team spirit is what's needed now so let's have it.

Come on you reds!!

Once the Masch+Kuyt deal goes through, Milner will be signed. Hopefully Arda Turan will be, too. But Roy wants English stars first.

First team will be:
Reina
Johnson Skrtel Agger Kelly
Gerrard Lucas
Milner Cole Jovanovic
Torres

Bench: Cavalieri, Carragher, Wilson, Poulsen, Aquilani, Pacheco, Maxi/Babel

liveerpool have made a 12 mil offer for Congo DR forward Serge Lofo Bongelli.Who you might ask but he scored a record 75 goals last season in all Competitions For AS Vita club. And scored 2 against Holland in 2001 when the lost 3-2.And the goals were both 25-30 yarders.

Really not sure about the huang bid it all sounds very dodgy!! could be the chinese version of gillet and hicks if mukesh ambami is really interested then please can we go for him sound quality investor with a lot of money behind him.

Roy making a major mistake on poulsen (he is rubbish) please roy sign flamini poulsen is a fulam type quality player not for top boys like lfc what about cattermole? i rate him highly

Ryan Shawcross 12 Million

Hi to all liverpool fans, from the news and media and rumours is likely nobody will take over liverpool.as u can see when ken huang comes to the picture out of no where came the syrian.and when the syrian say abt taking over liverpool than huang come out saying they have not bid. From my guess the yanks are making fool of us (the fans). From my opinion i will rather prefer the indian billionaire cos he the 4th in the ranking as billionaire in the world.

In

poulsen and 1 leftback and 1 striker

out
masch,kuyt(maybe),lucas (prefer)

Liverpool are about to become the richest team in the world. The Abu Dabi group are just people making money, China holds the worlds money. They will splurge and buy players in the winter window if the buyout doesn't happen in the summer for Liverpool to reach the Champions league the that's when the real spending will happen. Liverpool will be taking applications for players. Its the situation we are in. If Kaka, Ibrahimovic, Dzeko all had to chose between man city and pool , liverpool would always win.no debt new players new owners it will be the the best place for players.

"in my opinion, i hope we dont get this takeover until january, because the way we played last night, the team was fantastic."

We played ok, not fantastic, some of the build up was good but we need a better finisher and if Ngog is the preferred choice then we are in trouble.
The team we played against yesterday is if in England they'll be a championship side at best, they were awful both games, and our team last night (more or less first team) should 've beaten them 6 or 7.
Its Arsenal next week, and we wont get the amount of chances we had yesterday, we need a striker who can convert chances to goals in the absence of Torres and Ngog is definitely not that striker.

Its worrying that we did not manage to score any goals in our pre-season friendlies.

Roy

Long time reader - first time poster...

Any potential Chinese takeover will undoubetdly provide significant transfer funds however the last thing we want
(and I'm sure the last thing RH would do) is panic buy over-valued players in the last week of August purely because the funds are there. This means that the current squad (plus maybe Poulsen, a LB and a reserve striker and minus Masch) will be the ones to try get us back into the Champions League. January transfer window is over-valued and generally not worth it.

RH, Cole's signing and the prospect of getting rid of the Yanks has brought a lot of positivity which is great. Lets just keep grounded and not turn into those arrogant Mancs...

With regard to Red Paddy's comments about the Huang deal. It is Red Paddy who needs to wake up and smell the coffee. What Huang is offering is the near perfect deal. I will explain why: We don't want to be a rich man's play thing like Abramovic or some club who buys their success. We want the perfect "business model", a club who invests in their success - like it or not that is what football is these days.
Now look at his deal.
Firstly, he has offered to pay off the club debt (obviously this will be paid back in the decades to come or sooner - the more successful LFC are).
Secondly, he has promised to fund a new stadium (the increased revenue will help them to do this as well as invest in players)
Thirdly, he has promised big money in this transfer window, rumoured 50 mill (if the deal goes through) and the next transfer window (another 50 mill).
Finally, he has promised to get Liverpool marketed properly in the massive Asian market. (Imagine if only 1% of Asia buy a Liverpool shirt thats at least 10 million shirts sold. What revenue will that bring in?!!
In fact, if Liverpool become the massive brand in the Asian market that Huang hopes then companies such as Apple, Microsoft, Coca-Cola, Nike etc etc will be "BEGGING" to sponsor Liverpool - just imagine the revenue from that!!
Liverpool in ten years time, could easily have paid back all of Huang's investors initial money and be making millions besides funding the best of everything as well as competing for the best players when they become available.
The impact of "cracking" the Asian market and China's in particular (the world's next Superpower) will make Liverpool FC a world-wide brand with revenue's that even Man Utd can could only dream of.
But the most important bit is that it will be self-funding - built on success on the football pitch. No rich "sugar-daddy" tossing a few million here and there and having rival fans bitching about "buying success". Our success would be as a result of a very intelligent and resourceful Chinese man who realises are at the moment a "sleeping giant" who with the investment of 500 million can make ten times that back in the next decade.

PS – In all this Gillette and Hicks will walk away with sod all! Now that is what I call a result!

PPS – I have heard the rumour that Huang's bid (and I am told he has now actually made a bid) is: 300 million for the club. 100 million as a down payment to get the stadium started. 50 million as soon as the sale is completed for Hodgson to spend in the transfer market before August 31st.

Liverpool will sign 2-4 more players this transfer window.
Christian Poulsen will sign within the next few days for 5m, a fifth of the amount mascherano will be leaving for (25m).
With the remaining 20m, liverpool will try and buy a back up for Reina who is homegrown, rather federici or jones, but more likely federici, who will cost 3m. With the rest of the money, Hodgsen will wait and see what happens with Insua, as Genoa are now being linked with him. If insua does leave, Roy will try and snap up rather paul konchesky, maynor figueroa or wayne bridge. With the remaining 15m or so we will try and sign another striker, most likely loic remy or diego forlan.

Hi everyone. A highly respected media firm back here in india Times of India(TOI) has shed some insight on the apparent indian bids. These were the exact words

"Meanwhile England's s*n(k) reported on thursday that India's top corporate honchos mukesh ambani and subrata roy were in the fray to buy liverpool. The report said that the indian business tycoons had tabled their bid for lfc nine months after failing to buy a 51 percent share in the anfield outfit. TOI contacted both the indian companies who emphatically denied any interest in buying liverpool."

there were no quotes provided though to prove this denial so i still wouldn't rule it out. Will get back when i find more.

Poulsen looks set to sign for us early next week (source, sky sports transfer news) with his agent stating that he will play centre defensive midfield, which suggests mascherano is on his way out.

Torres may not be fit to start against arsenal, which is gutting but hopefully roy can snap up a new striker before then.

All of a sudden since aurelio re-signed, all the left back rumours have died down, any news?

Hopefully a takeover can be sorted out sooner than later so Roy can work his magic.

Can't wait for new season, YNWA

Quick question;

Do people on here know how the 'believable' and 'unbelievable' buttons work? The reason I ask is I said Huntelaar plays for AC Milan not Inter and 6 people clicked unbelievable... Am I missing something here? lol

06 Aug 2010 17:39:20
It's almost certain the takeover won't happen this month, so it looks like we'll have to settle for the mediocrity of Poulsen (oh, how we have fallen) as a replacement if Mascherano goes.
Conor Wickham might also be on RH's list. He's skillful, a lifelong Liverpool fan and only 17.

I was told by an old school friend who's brother works part-time at the official Liverpool shop that Loic Remy IS coming for talks next Tuesday. You can take it with a grain of salt since 'store clerk' isn't exactly high up in the club pecking order.

To me the Aguero rumours seem out of hand, unless the takeover happens miraculously quick (3-4 weeks) and Purslow has time to rush over to Madrid and throw €30 million at Athletico then I can't see it happening

06 Aug 2010 17:35:35

Christian Poulsen...so is this transfer market/wheeling and dealing nous that you fellas prays Roy for, huh?A thirty something pile of trash player who can't even get into a s**t Juventus team?
Is picking Poulsen over,i.e,Banega,Martinez,Defour,Cambiasso demonstrative of shrewdness?HARDLY!(And before any of you refer Cole,Wilson and Jova, those deals were initiated by Rafa and wrapped up by Purslow. So,with all due respect to Roy,he knew f*ck all about those deals, let alone played any (key) role in them).

Rather I play Lucas there, than fritter away £6m of our thin budget on an anus, old fart of a player.
And I wonder who'll be next...Guillermo Franco,Lugano,Heskey;or better still,Benjani.

To TrueKop

Thanks for the good post, one question:

In the article it says: 'Ganis said any deal would not close until well after the summer transfer window ends Aug. 31.'

But I cant see him saying that in the "speech marks"? Surely if he said that they would quote it?

06 Aug 2010 16:37:40
What is this all about:

If a player feels he has the love, support and understanding of the supporters it fills them with pride, passion and joy. This gives them the motivation to give more and more with each cheer. To run harder when it hurts, to tackle when you are covered in bruises and they know its going to hurt. When a player feels loved they spread that love in the dressing room and everybody gives more and more and more. The more love they recieve they more love they will give. The more that they give the more that others in the club will recieve and it becomes and self sustaining cycle of improvement, hard work, passion and love. When you list your least favourite players past or present you break that cycle and in the process break the very fabric of what our club is built on.

Has some body been slipping some really strong E's into this fellas tea or something cause it sounds a lot like some rasher burning the ear off you when your in a que at the bar in Space Ibiza either that or he's trying to sell some sort of home made man love skin flick featuring footballers in the changing room.

Man up a bit there mate this is football were talkin about, players running around kicking lumps out of each other in mud and rain, it is the beautifull game but you make it sound like some stupid romcom with Hugh Grant and Jenifer Aniston. I'd call it "Love On The Terrace" a wild romantic tale of candle lit dinners and away days. What a load of horlocks.

Looking at all the information coming out concerning the QLS / Huang deal is that it is another version of Hicks / Gillett. Look at the details:
- not personal wealth being used
- CIC who have state wealth will be at most a 20% share holder in the holding entity that owns LFC Ltd.
- Shareholders want return on investment they do not plough funds in to please us fans
- who are the others putting funds up?

If we are all dreaming of returning to the glory days of the 70's and 80's then we need a Mid-Eastern sugar daddy with personal wealth or Bill Gates! If not everyone will be either a cuddlier or more presentable form of the hapless, bankrupt Yanks.

We all believe in YNWA but we need a lone investor with personal wealth not Huang - wake up and smell the coffee - this deal stinks!

Red Paddy

In response to above

To be honest i'll be very supprised if Kenny Huang would own LFC if his bid is accepeted. They say it's a consourtium with CIC owning only 20% this could be true but for me they are just front men for CIC if it's true they are interested. IF the Chinese bid is accepted then there will be no doubt in my mind that CIC would be behind the full takeover.

The reason CIC have denied any involvement with the bid for LFC is excatly what we are seeing in the Media, Websites and Newspapers is the Human rights issue which they are probably trying to avoid. So enter Huang, Gaung and Ganis perfect frontmen. It was just yesterday that CIC were saying they hadn't even heard of Kenny Huang which i said could be lies.

It's simple IF the Kenny Huang bid is accepted then the CIC will own the club IMO!

hope we dont make the same error as before by taking the first good bid that comes along please dont make the same mistake as last time.good to know that h and g cant block the best deal for personal gain.the signs for the future are really good teamspirit commitment of star players could be a season to remember for the right reasons.it would be nice to see us back at the top where we belong.

This is typical, getting ahead of ourselves after the worst season in memory....so far it looks promising but let's hope we sign one or two more quality players (would take cambiasso and a striker).
Please stop these silly luittle side tracks about worst players/ signings...it's a rumour site!

So why do you keep posting your OPINIONS, if it's a RUMOUR site?

I believe people are not posting too many rumours because lets face it they are always pretty much the same, SWP, Aguero, Turan, Poulsen, the price of Macherano etc, etc.

So until new rumours come up what's so wrong with people talking about other things to do with our great club? YNWA

Although I think you make some valid points, I dont really see the difference between this bid and the "supposed" other bids that have been tabled. The Syrian bid is investors from Middle East and Canada so its the same scenario. It also worries me that the Syrian bid "has reached an agreement with Hicks & Gillett"... because they will in no way look for the best possible deal for LFC it will be for their pockets and what happened to "Broughton and the Board being the only decision makers"...

Thoughts?

This is a rumour site not a forum, and most of the people commenting have never seen the player they are listing in action. Eg Dundee, Kvarme.

Reading between the lines and trawling the web it appears there is a more sinister financial game being played out under the sheets.
The bankruptcy issues surrounding the Texas Rangers may come back to bite us.
If there is a leveraged buyout of the club and the American courts cast envious eyes at Hicks' business dealing, could we see a vast amount of money being grabbed by Amercian creditors?
I'm not a financial expert (like the UK banks!) but I suspect that some of the money used to purchase the club might be creamed off to pay debts outside of 'our own' club debts.
This may be sacre mongering and not something I can talk about with expertise.
On the other hand, it maybe that Hicks/ Gillett will find themselves staring at a meagre return on their disastrous tenure as owners.
They should NOT make a profit that exceeds the pennies they personally put in to buy and then damage our club.

On the Ada Turan rumour: Dalglish is apparently a real fan and admirer of the player and RH is savvy enough to have tapped into this. I don't expect him (I'm not one of the usual 'make it up it sounds great' rumour posters on here!) but it would be an axciting purchase.

If I had to guess at a player coming, I would say Huntelaar might be the one in a swap with Mascherano and a large chunk of £££££.

A China-based group of investors said Friday that Liverpool has welcomed its initial plans to take over the English Premier League club, stressing the proposal does not include any direct ownership by China's sovereign wealth fund.

Marc Ganis, whose Chicago-based company Sportscorp Ltd. has helped form the investment group co-headed by Hong Kong businessman Kenneth Huang, said the group first contacted Liverpool chairman Martin Broughton on Monday.

"We haven't submitted a formal proposal but we submitted the broad parameters of what a proposal would look like to see if it would be welcomed, and it was," Ganis said in a telephone interview with The Associated Press, hours after he returned to the United States from China.

Ganis said any deal would not close until well after the summer transfer window ends Aug. 31.

Broughton is selling the club on behalf of American co-owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett Jr., who are trying to offload the 18-time English champions due to personal financial constraints.

A company called QSL Sports Limited would be controlling owner of the limited liability corporation that would own Liverpool FC. QSL is co-headed by Huang and Guang Yang, executive vice president of Franklin Templeton Investments and chief investment officer of the China Life/Franklin Templeton Fund.

In an interview arranged through Hill & Knowlton Hong Kong, Ganis said those two would be the only owners involved in the management of the club. Other investors would be passive, and each would own no more than 20 percent.

China Investment Corp. - the country's sovereign wealth fund - would not have a direct ownership stake in the club. However, Ganis said it may be part of an investment vehicle organized by Yang and his financial team that would have a passive ownership interest.

British media had claimed on Thursday that CIC was funding the takeover, suggesting the club would come under the control of the Chinese government.

Ganis and the China-based group began forming last spring as a potential investor with another group that evaluated a potential investment in Liverpool. Ganis contacted the Royal Bank of Scotland, which holds Liverpool's debt, and was put in contact last week with Broughton and Barclays Capital, which is attempting to sell the club for the co-owners.

QSL, in conjunction with the Chinese government, owns and operated two professional sports leagues and one minor league. QSL also owns sports publications and in September will roll out an all-sports website.

Hicks, whose MLB team the Texas Rangers were auctioned this week in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Fort Worth, bought Liverpool with Gillett three years ago in a deal valued at 218.9 million pounds (then $431 million). Hicks said he wants between 600 and 800 million pounds ($950 million to $1.25 billion) for the club, whose known debt last stood at 237 million pounds.

Ganis said his group will not bid close to Hicks' valuation.

"If anybody wants to, good luck," he said, without disclosing what his group is willing to bid. "We know what we would be prepared to do. If somebody else wants to look at it in a different way, it's their money. That would be their business, not ours." Ganis said the group had four primary goals if it makes a bid: -Leave Liverpool debt free.

-Make a significant equity investment and construct the long-delayed new stadium to replace Anfield.

-Invest a large amount that would be available for player transfers.

-Have an Asian initiative to expand Liverpool's fan base and commercial activities with the goal of creating new economic value for the club using QSL's platform in China.

"What is not one of our goals in the enrichment of the existing owners," Ganis said, "If we submit a proposal and it is accepted, it would be focused on the future and not the past." Barclays has told potential bidders they will have to show they have the financing to go through with the proposals. After QSL's interest emerged, former Syrian club player Yahya Kirdi claimed Wednesday that he was fronting a consortium of investors from the Middle East and Canada that was close to completing a takeover.

Liverpool has won 18 English league titles - but none since 1990 - and its record has been matched by Manchester United. Beset by infighting between Hicks and Gillett plus player injuries, it failed to qualify for this season's Champions League, losing tens of millions of pounds in revenue.

But captain Steven Gerrard and star forward Fernando Torres decided to remain with the club under new manager Roy Hodgson, who replaced Rafa Benitez after last season.

Ganis said the Financial Fair Play rules that begin for European football this season will help curb extreme spending on transfers.

"But even at that, Liverpool is and always should be one of the highest-spending clubs in all of football," Ganis said. And our financial models presume Liverpool will be at or near the top in spending on players every year." Ganis said that the investment group has been impressed in many ways with the manner in which Liverpool is being operated.

"From what we have seen from afar, many of the people currently running Liverpool are doing a good job," he said. "There shouldn't be an expectation there would be a mass upheaval if we submit and are approved."

For the guy who said Huntelaar would be part of a player exchange with Mascherano, Liverpool are negotiating with Inter Milan for Mascherano and Huntelaar plays for AC Milan.

If you dont know your facts, at least google the information!

For the record, would prefer Kevin Doyle to Huntelaar and if we have money Suarez

Can we have some rumours instead of opinions and wish lists, it is a rumour site after all ! It makes trawling through the dross a tedious chore and then not even finding one rumour. Supporters of other teams must think we are just clueless armchair footy fans !

06 Aug 2010 15:25:39
this site is the funniest thing, nobody has any of their own idaes. If one person comes up with a name half the readers on here just repeat the same rumour, brilliant.

Anyway onto real rumours, Pjanic is looking like he might be the real deal, Roy watched a couple of seasons ago but he was still only 17, he is 20 now and ruling the french league. Roy needs to get in there now. he can play anywhere across the the park behind the forward and is a real gem of a player.

Rumour on net 2 days ago.
I did post it yesterday, but for some reason never got put up.
It's highly unlikely to happen now any way, but here it is.

2 phases.
1st Gerrard was to go to Madrid plus £20- 25 Million and Liverpool get Kaka.
Unfortunately Sky were due to break story today, but instead they broke yesterday with Kaka out injured for 2 months.

Convenient or does anyone know if he is genuinely injured for sure.

What I do know is this, Kaka has failed to settle in Spain and would love to play in the Premiership. Only Chelsea, United or Arsenal could land him.
It is believed he has bee. told of the goings on at Anfield, and would put up with no Champions League football for a Season with an exit clause.

( like i said unlikely to happen now anyway)

2nd Torres to Chelsea, Drogba to Anfield plus £40 million.

Drogba is a quality striker, despite his theatricals, 32 years old and will demo land 25 goals / season.

With Mascherano going and the money left over from Torres and Gerrard swapping clubs, Milner would be my bet with the remaining cash, young and English.

To the person who said this:

The squad i think will face aresnal is:
Reina
Johnson Carra Skrtel Agger
Cole Gerrard Kuyt Jovanaic (spelling)
Pacheco
Torres

i don't think that is likely. apart from the back four the rest are attacking players. My guess would be: (if everyone is fit)

Pepe
Johnson carra agger aurelio

lucas gerrard
kuyt jovanovic
cole

torres

cole will definitely play behind torres with gerrard in the middle. not sure about the wide players (kuyt and jova) and not sure about left back.

So please don't make disgrace of my club.

This summer has been great for LFC, and the only way it can get better is if we sell players like:

El Zhar
Itandje
Kyrgiakos
Mascherano

And get in replacements like:

Poulsen
Remy

That way we will have this team:

GK: Reina, Cavalieri
RB: Johnson, Darby
CB: Carragher, Agger, Skrtel, Wilson, Kelly, Ayala
LB: Aurelio, Insua
CDM: Poulsen, Lucas
CM: Gerrard, Aquilani, Shelvey
CAM: Cole, Jovanovic, Babel, Pacheco, Kuyt, Maxi
FW: Torres, Remy, Ngog

06 Aug 2010 15:18:32
Degen to Stuttgart. Looks definate.
I think remy is holding out for an offer from Liverpool as he keeps stalling on other offers

Seriously kids go and gett your homework done! Your football opinions are poor and simply based on FIFA or Football Manager!.......

Every player has contributed some good in some way....

Heck I remember Biscan scoring a screamer after being subbed on moments before!...

I remember Traore saving the ball on the line in the Champions League final against Milan,... Without that we would have lost!...

Dossena scoring two wonderful goals against Real Madrid and Manchester United as a Left-Back....

These are just players moments I have fresh in the memory but I'm certain there arre more!

So please listen to the guy who posted earlier and have some respect! COME ON THE REDS!

Just a little note:-

Ins:

Poulsen.
Attacking player (Arda/Remy/? etc etc)

Outs:
Masherano

Y.N.W.A

JayAlmighty

P.s. I genuinly think Doyle was a good shout! ...Willing to play second fiddle to Torres and a decent young lad who can step in!

Re: If Masch money comes in don't be surprised to see a move for Kevin Doyle.

___________
Excellent shout - Kevin Doyle looks the business, solid player. For a bit more flair, has got to be Suarez or dare I say Aguero (Torres would be happy!)

06 Aug 2010 14:48:55
I have been told Poulsen for 6M by next wed. Then masch will go to inter for 27M. Money used for Ruiz/Remy for 13M. SWP will be the final signing for 9M UNLESS takeover done 2 weeks before end of transfer season if it is then RH will start looking what we need but doesnt know yet My guess a world class ST.
.
This year is for getting back into top 4 (we'll get 3rd) and try and win a cup probably a big signing in jan or 2. Next year we'll have lots to spend and then we'll win the league!!

On to rumours
1. Poulsen - who is making way for him - suspect Mascherano will depart before 31-Aug
2. With money left from above we need 2 players - RM / RW and ST / CF
3. Story goes - must be home grown - why not take a punt on McGeady from Celtic and Conor Wickham from Ipswich

Re-build - if big money comes - we will not be too far off the pace in Jan to bring some big names in

On the other hand, it maybe that Hicks/Gillett will find themselves staring at a meagre return on their disastrous tenure as owners.

Just saying, but give Morientes a break, another player destroyed by Rafa. Prolific in Spain & Europe as the dream target-man & foil for Raul (not 'decent record') and then fantastic for Monaco (not Marseille) on their run to the final, knocking out Madrid. Rafa seemingly saw a Denis Bergkamp in the boy however. I recall him (Rafa) talking about his (Mor) outstanding techical ability as he tried to remould him as a link-player - the end result was abysmal, destroyed a great striker. I was sad. btw, a lot of whingeing here by lfc fans who seem to believe that blind, illogical, unconditional support for staff and players at LFC is the only way to go. Thats dangerous talk. If we had it your way Rafa would have stayed, or maybe Souness would still be in charge and the 'pool would be in a lower division. Would that be okay? or is your logic suspect. Respect works both ways - Carra talked about how Diouf came dancing into training after getting knocked out of a cup years ago, he didn't give a crap about it or the club or fans who paid to see the game! Unconditional support for ANYTHING is illogical, we all have our limits. The idea that 'real' LFC fans all subscribe to this idea of unconditional support is a nonsense, if you want a little niche, self-percieving group of dogma-led self described 'real' fans then gl to you. But i'll support the 'Pool in the non-league if it came to it! To the bitter end. I LOVE THAT 'POOL! It doesn't however mean i'd still be defendin those that got us into that situation. Anyway, the new season should be fun! Its looking good so far. I'm an optimist! Walk on. Love this site - Wish everyone posted their names to get a wee chat goin', gl all and respect to the ed!

Am I correct in thinking that any players that have played in the qualifying round for the Europa League are now cup tied for all european games including the Champions League?

06 Aug 2010 14:17:47
I am optimistic this season, I think Roy has made the right noises since his appointment. I also think LFC (the academy especially) will benefit from the appointment of a British manager and an experienced one at that.

I have heard a lot of people being negative towards the link with Christian Poulsen. Personally I would not be too critical. You only have to look back over recent years to see how effective some of the senior signings have been; Gary Mc, Jari Litmanen, Didi Hamman. Watch this space, could be a shrewd peice of business.

Fingers crossed for an eventful reign under Roy!

06 Aug 2010 14:11:34
cant make my mind up who would be the best bid yet need to make the correct choice for the future of the club and the team. we seem to have some excellent young players coming through at the moment.with a good boardroom set up and roy being very good with the media and press things are on the up we can wait a little bit longer to get it right.then the mighty reds will be back at the top again

to the guy who said:

You Will Never Walk Alone

I bet all these ex players that have been listed on this site as the "worst ever signings" would be feeling pretty LONELY if they were ever to read some of the things I have been reading over the last few days. Shame on you so called fans (i suspect this is actually manure fans stirring up s**te tbh) for making ex and even current players feel less than loved. When you do this you SPIT on everything this club stands for. Shame on you!

You Will Never Walk Alone - means something does it not?? Or does it mean that you will not walk alone unless your not good enough in which case we are going to deficate on your efforts and achievements.

Are we a club that supports each other come hell or high water? Or are we a club full of fair weather supporters that turn our backs on people/ players in thier hour of need? Its a tough enough world without your own so called supporters mocking you and belittleing your efforts.

I can honestly say that I am absolutely disgusted at some of what I have been reading here and I say again shame on you. WITH SUPPORT LIKE THAT WHO NEEDS ENEMIES.

Spread LOVE not Contempt. The more love you give the more you will recieve.........this philsosophy will stand you in good stead in all the areas of your life.

YOU WILL NEVER WALK ALONE (none of you)

Yeah but Torben Piechnik really was sh!t

In an interview with the Associated Press agency Marc Ganis, whose Chicago-based company Sportscorp Ltd. has helped compile the Huang bid, offered more detail on the structure and companies behind the bid.

He said that a number of investors, possibly including the China Investment Corporation, would take a stake in the club with none owning more than 20 per cent

He also said the group intended not to enrich owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett, a statement sure to win favour among supporters.

"We haven't submitted a formal proposal but we submitted the broad parameters of what a proposal would look like to see if it would be welcomed, and it was," Ganis said in a telephone interview with AP arranged through Huang's PR advisors Hill & Knowlton Hong Kong.

"What is not one of our goals in the enrichment of the existing owners," Ganis said. "If we submit a proposal and it is accepted, it would be focused on the future and not the past."

Ganis would not reveal what price Huang's group was willing to pay but said it would not get anywhere near Hicks' £800m valuation. "If anybody wants to [pay that], good luck. We know what we would be prepared to do. If somebody else wants to look at it in a different way, it's their money. That would be their business, not ours."

Ganis said that if a deal proceeds the club would be owned by a new company ultimately owned by QSL Sports Limited, the company headed by Huang and Guang Yang, executive vice president of Franklin Templeton Investments and chief investment officer of the China Life/Franklin Templeton Fund.

Ganis said that Huang and Yang would be involved in the day-to-day management of the club, but that there would be other "passive investors", none of whom would own more than 20 per cent.

Ganis said that China Investment Corporation, the country's sovereign wealth fund, might be part of an investment vehicle that would have a passive ownership interest in the club. The precise nature of CIC's involvement has been a matter of speculation since it was revealed on Thursday.

Ganis said the group aimed to leave Liverpool debt free, invest in the club and construct a new stadium to replace Anfield, provide funds for new playersand seek to expand Liverpool's fan base and commercial activities in Asia using QSL's contacts.

Despite Ganis's comments the Huang bid is yet to provide proof of funds to Liverpool chairman Martin Broughton and investment bank Barclays Capital.

Broughton has told all interested parties that he needs to see proof of funds by next week in the hope that he can conclude a deal by the end of the the month.

Syrian businessman Yahya Kirdi is fronting a group of investors interested in the in the club and claims to be in advanced negotiations with Hicks and Gillett. The Americans believe Kirdi's bid is substantial.

The New York-based Rhone Group and Kuwaiti family investors the Al-Kharafi family have also expressed an interest but have offered no public statements about their intentions.

His group isn't concerned about high-spending owners in the Premier League, who include Manchester City's Sheik Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Chelsea's Roman Abramovich. Ganis said the Financial Fair Play rules that begin for European soccer this season will help curb extreme spending on transfers.

"That creates certain constraints that many observers feel are quite responsible and will reduce the risk of irrational money being spent," he said. "But even at that, Liverpool is and always should be one of the highest-spending clubs in all of football. And our financial models presume Liverpool will be at or near the top in spending on players every year."

Ganis said that they have been impressed in many ways with the manner in which Liverpool is being operated.

"From what we have seen from afar, many of the people currently running Liverpool are doing a good job," he said. "There shouldn't be an expectation there would be a mass upheaval if we submit and are approved."

What's everyones thoughts on someone like Huddlestone? - I could certainly see him at Anfield. He'd help with the quota too. I'd imagine that Spurs would want quite a bit for him, though.

Interesting comment someone made earlier about Aguero too. It wouldn't surprise me if we had already made contact with the players agent on the chance that a takeover would happen and the funds were there - I mean, what happened with all the links to Chelsea that were buzzing around?, he looked a dead cert to be at Stamford Bridge at one point.

Maybe it's all just wishful thinking - my head is telling me we'll go with Torres\Kuyt\Jovanovic\N'Gog\Pacheco up front this season, but I would love to see Aguero at Anfield.

Care to explain how Robbie Keane cost Liverpool the league?

News just updated from The Guardian:

The gist of the article goes on to dictate that China Investment Capital (CIC) is a passive participant in the takeover which is being headed by Kenny Huang, Marc Ganis and Guang Yang. The Liverpool chairman Martin Broughton, apparently revealed that a broad-scaped take-over plan was given by QSL Sports (Representative being Marc Ganis) and divulged that the plans for take-over involved the building of a new stadium, the erasing of debt and the influx of funds for current and future transfer spending.

It goes on to say that QSL Sports will not pay over what the current incurred debt and value of shares is as it is felt that no profit should be earned by Gillette and Hicks (fair enough).

This would be a good deal for both Liverpool FC and QSL Sports, Liverpool gaining a lucrative Chinese market for the sale of goods and the exposing of talent and QSL Sports gaining world-wide recognition and profit from expansion of the city of Liverpool.

An issue with this article however is that it did come from the Guardian but seems to be backed up by Goal.com and the Telegraph.

If Mashc money comes in don't be surprised to see a move for Kevin Doyle.

Experienced in the Premiership, 26 years old, good with both feet and in the air, a very intelligent player who also leaves a few bruises on defenders if needs be. Played up front for Wolves last season and was their best player by far match after match, spent most of his time running into the channels, winning or holding up the ball to bring team mates into the game so limited opportunity in the box. Plays as a partnership with Keane for Ireland and sets up chance after chance for Keane. Has averaged about 1 goal in every 3 throughout his career to date and has taken each step up in his stride.

If Cole or Torres/Gerard got injuryed he would give the boss options to play 4-4-2 or let him play the Torres role, Ngog not ready yet. Doyle would flourish with better quality players around him. He's like the new Sheringham.

Spread LOVE not Contempt. The more love you give the more you will recieve.........this philsosophy will stand you in good stead in all the areas of your life.

YOU WILL NEVER WALK ALONE (none of you)"

Id like to say I agree with the sentiments of this poster. Thanks for the wake-up call.
Um...can we just not include Nunez though cuz he was pants. Thanks

Did anyone notice at the game last night that the Standard Charter advertisement also had it in Chinese??? Just Maybe!

Or because they predominantly do business in the Far East ?

Nothing in that mate.

There was quite a few games last season that had Chinese advertising. I think the LFC shirts in the Chelsea game had a Chinese sponsor so I'm not sure its related. What it does show is how strong LFC is becoming in Asia and why a Chinese owner would be an advantage because within 5 years, China will be the strongest economy in the World with the highest population. Being the best supported club in China would make a massive impact on the clubs income. LFC must continue to spend within its means because when UEFA bring in their restrictions on spending, the likes of City and Chelsea are going to have some big problems!

Good God, liverpool fans, this is a rumour site!

Are we so desperate that we talk rubbish about who is the worst player ever, Ken Agurio ect!

For God sake get a GRIP.

Talk about the season to come , the possible takeover, and players in or out, the manager, our apponants, even the F**KWIT Yanks, but lets cut out the S**T, it boring and pointless.

Thank god the schools go back soon!!

p.s. Ed, need your input, to control some of this rubbish........

I think some of our players will drastically improve this season. I've read a lot of comments slagging off some of the current team, but how much of this opinion is down to how Rafa told them to play, i.e. out of position, or overly defensive?

I also think it's a out of order to make personal comments about players - there's a difference between saying someone isn't good enough and saying they're ugly etc. All I ask from the players is that they give everything when they put the shirt on - it's down to the manager for playing the wrong people if they're not good enough.

To out do Sean Dundee, Eric Meijer, Salif Diao etc.... The specialist corner taker signed by Souness....none other than ITZVAN KOZMA! Truly forgettable!

The site is better when the discussions are based primarily around football, otherwise it would just contain the same lists of supposed rumoured transfers and peoples attempts of how they would set the team up. Does anyone else think that the bookies are completely mad offering 14/1 on Liverpool for the title. I really can't understand it. I'm going to do a Rafa on it and guarantee you that we'll finish above Man utd this season. My Liverpool conrads obviously are not taking the punt - why not?? we have never had a better chance over the last few years, New Manager, New Sponsor, New potiential owners, New attitude, no CL fixtures clogging up our week and a desire to win that premiership title. Come on! lets be having ya lads, I have a tonne on them.

Hope the news of Ken aguero coming to Liverpool fc are true. He is a quality striker for Atletico Madrid, but he will be expensive. Do Liverpool fc have the funds? maby the sale of Macherano will allow this transfer to happen. Fingers crossed.

LFC dream team.

i just hope that whoever takes over the ownership of our beloved liverpool f.c deliver their promises....... remember it's only been a couple of years since the yanks rode into town giving us false hopes.........
we need to get it right this time otherwise our great club will become a laughing stock and forever tainted
the signs are good however as i think woy is a brilliant choice of manager, who seems cool calm and collected and focused completely on coaching the team
get the ownership right and liverpool will once again become a bastian of invincibility and the others will have to submit........ that i have no doubt

Worst player, maby Jan Kromcamp. Although Benitez under used him and Finnan was a quality right back.

06 Aug 2010 12:32:58
Just heard a couple of rumours.....

Arda Turan- Heard he played last night for Galatasary in the europa league so he is cup-tied. Its a real pity because i thought that he would be world class for the reds.

Christian Poulsen- Heard the deal is close for 3 years for 55 grand a week. In my view he will be okay but id rather get a striker than get a 30 year old. And this money could go into other areas also as we have Spearing, Aquilani, Lucas, and Gerrard.

Loic Remy- Senn in Stoke yesterday. Personally he has great finishing and lethat pace. Would be a great addition because we all seen N'Gog last night and although he played really well he has to improve his finishing. Dont Think Roy Hodgson will take a gamble and buy Remy though.

Fabio Coentrao- If the Huang bid or any other goes through in the next week expect Liverpool to get their man from under the noses of Chelsea. Would be a great attacking addition to the squad.

Sergio Kun Aguero- This one was going around for a while. Personally would love to see him. But may have to wait untill next Summer or even Janurary.

This Ken Aguero ''thing'' is getting really irritating. Every one wants to read rumours and our views on transfer and expectations not these stupid jokes.......Thanks....Great site Ed and great to see a Liverpool Page. Shows how well supported LFC are!!!!

06 Aug 2010 12:31:05
liverpool are now looking to sign arda turan after he impressed in the europa league. They may also make move for poulsen. These deals will cost no more than 20 million.

Team next season

-------gerrard-aquilani--------

i hope LFC don't sign SWP, he is one of the most over-rated players i have ever seen, in other words he is crap. i would rather take a gamble on someone like arda turan or arjen robben( if the cash is there after the takeover and robben not really a gamble), if they are out of the question i would rather buy a right back rather than SWP and push glenn johnson on as he is much better at attacking than that S(mall) W(ee) P(eanut). Roy please don't buy man city's cast off's, unless they are tevez, silva or ireland.

Ken Aguero seen at the Trafford Centre last night, he was in JJB looking at Man U Shirts, hope this doesn't mean we will loose out on this one!!

Yes it looks bad doesn't it.................. But i can put your mind at ease on this one. I was following Ken round the TC as part of my "a day in the life of Ken" project, which i am doing as part of my parole conditions. Ken had previously been to the toilet next to JJB's and after the previous nights chicken vindaloo he'd made quite a mess in there, and worst of all ???? yes you guessed it NO toilet paper. Ken was in JJB's looking for something to wipe his arse on.

"I personally would ask for cambiasso and money for mascherano, or better still cambiaso and santon and some more money , But that might be pushing our luck, I suppose it depends on how badly Inter and Rafa want Him.

Feel free to comment (or slag me off).

Bob Loblaw"

An interesting point in this is how much Inter or Rafa really do want Maschie. When you think about it, Inter really aren't lacking in the CM department - I know I'm not the only one that would say that Cambiasso is as good, if not better, a player.

I'm sure that Rafa will want to bring in players that he knows and trusts, but Moratti is the one that deals with the transfers and has the final say.

If the rumours are to be believed, it looks like Inter are waiting on the sale of Balotelli to go through before they make an offer and it certainly looks as if we're expecting it to happen (seeing as we're in talks with Poulsen). I certainly think we could discuss some player exchanges - I doubt Cambiasso is on offer, to be honest, but I think Santon is a good shout. Rene Khrin is a very highly rated young player and he'd be a player that I'm sure Kenny would like to see brought in.

I did also hear a rumour about a swap involving Eto'O, but I don't really believe that - as good as Eto'O is, I don't really see him making an ideal partner for Torres. I also doubt that Inter would even consider letting him go after only one season.

Parma Violet.

This page is a turning into an chat room. Their should be better post filtering (some of that munich stuff the other day was embarrassing for true Liverpool fans). It seems that you can say whatever you like and it will get posted. Ed the odd reply would be nice. Before you start with all the "go back to the manc pages" Im from Liverpool and a Liverpool fan. I loved the original page when it was just transfer rumours. Now it seems people are more interested in worst liverpool players and the boring ken aguero joke (please.. it was fuuny at first though!). Sorry for the rant but can we gat back to rumours and transfer news!

I think Steven Ireland would be a great addition in centre mid as steven defour's agent has said he will remain at standard Liege for another season. Also samual eto in exchange for masch and cash!
Add that to what i saw last night and we'll have a great base to build on!
By the way thought young Steven Kelly was outstanding last night. Would'nt do any harm to hold off signing a left back and give him a run of games, can't be any worse the insua!!!

Afraid to say it, but this site has gone down hill since the 'liverpool rumours' breakaway - nice idea, but we've started to disapear up our own backsides.

Close it down, Ed.

I don't think it should be closed down but I have to agree...rumours and banter should be on different page like the football rumours page.

I think the main reason this site was created was the volume of posts about Liverpool meant that the editor couldn't keep up with them - he does have to earn a living. Notice that he hasn't commented on any of the posts on this site but still does on the main one. It is up to us the readers and posters to ensure this site is worthwhile. Please let's keep it to rumours (i.e. real information that is not yet in the public domain). I would include genuine insight eg on how takeovers work which can help us interpret other rumours. But - PLEASE can people stop posting wish lists of players, comments on the worst player, discussions about whether non-scousers should suport the club. These are all valid discussions but there ar plenty of forum sites for these. This is a RUMOURS site - let's keep it like that and have a small number of high quality posts.

just gonna throw this out there for worst player, david james? any1 agree? it was when he was at liverpool that he was given his nickname, calamity james, if im not mistaken?
any reason why no interest has been shown in aguero since chelsea rumours a few weeks ago? could a potential deal be already in place for the argentine wonderkid to come to anfield once the takeover happens? i know he has been linked to the club for ages and it has never really looked possible, but with funds for transfers looking rather abundant maybe this could be the time? its just with atletico in a bit of financial trouble you would think aguero would be talked about a little more. any1 with me on this?

Liverpool will sign brad jones if they put their bid up to £3million put I still can see why we need him

--
Liverpool want brad jones or even fredrici( spelling) because they want a decent goalkeeper that has had more playing time than diego cavalieri to put pressure on reina.
also i was watching countdown to kick-off on lfctv last night and roy hodgson said that agger and reina were both injured, so i asume they want one of the two keepers above just incase reina is not fit in time for the arsenal game.

LfcKaley

The reason LFC want Brad Jones is because he will count as home grown and be on our bench.

That's why Middlesborough are holding out for 3 mill being home grown adds to your market value from the clubs you are trying to buy them from.

All this rubbish about human rights etc is really grating me. We live in a society with a false democracy which has used advanced propaganda on us all for years now through the news and media. Are we really that well off ourselves, when our bent politicians rob us without charge and get away scot free. Your impression of the chinese comes from the same papers that told us that gerrard and Torres were both leaving and that lfc is doomed. I have no doubts that people are suffering all over the world, in American they will let you die in the hospital lobby if you don't have health care (until recently). On every block there are homeless people that have been left to rot by corporations that paint a rosie picture of how great the USA is. Maybe we should have thought of this before we welcomed the two ball bags into our club....

06 Aug 2010 11:46:07
Worst player ever to wear a Liverpool shirt had to be JIMMY CARTER!

06 Aug 2010 11:45:18
Poulsen....done deal (almost), and the usual mentioned on this site (LB, another DM maybe, and a striker)..
..not based on any supposed inside info, but just on Roy's preferences, and my instinct, but I will take a punt and say that a bid for J Carew would not suprise me....Roy was linked when he was mng of Fulham, and he is a battering ram of a forward ( a more skillful Heskey if you like).....Crouch would also not suprise me,..I think a striker / target-man combination is favoured by Roy, with a rocket speed goal-scorer partnered with a large, skillful, hold-up type target man......Torres/Babel ( I think Roy will give him a good run ) partnered with Crouch/Carew, with Ngog and a few of the other young prospects in reserve, (with Kuyt or Jovanovic also capable of filling in if required - I dont think they will play up front - Jovanovic would have been tested in the front role in at least one of the pre-season / europa matches if he was seen by Roy as a possible long term striker)......
......also in line with the Shelvey / Wilson etc policy, do not be suprised to see C Wickham arrive, especially if extra money is available after any take over.
Finally, I think the only remaining big transfer activity will be one 'big' signature after the take over, near the end of the transfer window......it is only logical that anyone in Roy's position will be doing the ground work and research on key targets BEFORE money is available so that he can move asap after funds are released.......again based on instinct / style of play and other rumours, the names I think that could happen are one of Milner / Barry / Van der Vaart / A Young / or the one that could be a real suprise P Lahm!....talk of Figer. from Wigan has slowed, as has Bridge etc.....Lahm is young (for a defender) and can cover either F/back role....he also is v. strong going forward which is in-line with Roy's preference for wide attacking full-backs for crosses, and midfielders who tuck inside from the flanks.......

.....................Reina
Johnson.....Carra.....Agger.....Lahm
....................Poulsen..................
....Gerrard........................Milner...
......................Cole.....................
.............Torres...........Crouch.......

(as said, Milner and Lahm ONLY if big funds are made available)

.......lastly, in reply to what seems to be the subject of the moment on the site, ....worst buy ever?....lots of possible names but I think free transfers should be viewed in light of what they cost, so all in all, considering the amount of money paid and the impact the player had, Salif Diao takes some beating!!!

06 Aug 2010 11:45:03
With all the speculation of a new left back, is Martin Kelly good enough to make the step up? From what Ive seen of him playing there he looks more impressive than Insua and Aurelio, he can play centre back and is built like one, but he is also quick enough and has the ability going foward to play left back effectively. I thought he was magnificant last night, granted against weaker opposition, and maybe its time to start bringing through the next generation of academy bred players into the big time instead of relying the majority of our hopes on forign investment.

Posted earlier ....

"I take it you're not a paid up member of Amnesty International? You naive deluded person. The Chinese regime is near totalitarian, oppressive and with a diabolical human rights record that Robert Mugabe could only dream of. A history of political censorship, almost random imprisonment and total paranoia personifies your chosen investor. If you're going to post at least have the first idea of the subject to which you refer."

Maybe you should consider the following before firing off such vitriolic broadsides.
Football is a 'dirty business' as has been highlighted by the financial issues of the past 12 months. Yesterday's High Court ruling states in a loud yell that football is above the law. Footballers, agents and other in the games DO NOT have to abide by the normal financial rules that govern the rest of us. WE (football as such) gets paid in full and then you (Inland Revenue, other creditors and 'us' in general') get what's left over.

So ... if you want to berate and attack anyone with loose morals, poor financial management and a poor record of dealing with the rest of scoiety, then consider those in the game!

I have supported the club since I was a boy on the Kop in 1961. I have a pride and a passion in the game, but it is rotten in many ways. I absolutely LOVE the game, the club and I am addicted to football .... but it stinks as a business. So, when you want squeaky clean owners, people with wads of cash and men with bulging wallets to join in - don't moan when they don't match up your standards.

After all .... the Premier League couldn't give a toss who owns clubs. They shift their lose rules and embarrassing regulations to suit themselves. Like sharks with a sniff of blood, they turn on each other to divide the money up as it suits them. Look at the recent shady owners and consortiums that have been involved in the game in the past three years and ask - "are they right and proper?" Well if the PL are bothered, YES they are if they have ££££££!

Name me a regime, country or state that doesn't have a dodgy past or present? When it comes to football, most fans are interested in the £££££ to build their dreams, not in the blood on the hands of the chairman and investors.

possibly one of the worst players for me to pull on the shirt of all shirts was Fernando Morientes.

before he arrived, decent record in Spain, TOP scorer in champions league whilst on loan at Marsielle.

loads of ability just couldn't handle the prem.

Onto rumours, dont know if you remember i posted a while back stating my spanish teacher at colledge also home tutors Daniel Agger and Steven Gerrard, whilst Stevie has not stopped taking them saying he 'half decent' danny agger is still taking them and has been asking my teacher whats living in spain like?.

Before you say 'another lie' it could just mean nothing i hope so, agger has a resturant not far from me in aigburth, and thats raking it in, and he's playing football.

any thoughts ed?

Regarding the Huang bid. Don't believe ANYTHING you read in the papers. The real person in the know is someone who calls himself Bamba and posts fairly regularly redandwhitekop.com - this person is very well connected within LFC and in the City (at least 6 contacts). His track record with rumours for LFC is second to none - he seems to know everything at least 48 hours before anyone else when it comes to Liverpool FC rumours. The CIC deal is up to now still on - although even highly placed people within CIC do not know this because it is separate deal to the normal done through different channels than their normal ones. CIC denials mean nothing because the people denying the deal are the people not even involved in it. Make of this what you will. But it comes from someone who is a legend with regard to rumours for Liverpool FC.

The above is completely true as Bamba and his rumours have been spot on. He is the talk of a few LFC forums as they are wondering who this guy is?

Worst ever player for Liverpool? - I wouldn't like to say, I'm sure they've all tried their best. There are a lot of very good players in the World, but most are not good enough to cut it at Anfield. I will say that Diouf should have never had the chance to put the shirt on - underwhelming, yet ridiculously arrogant and a truly disgraceful individual. He was a terrible signing.

Anyways - great result last night and Cole looked superb. It was interesting to hear Roys comments on the takeover stuff and I think that should end all the crazy talk of superstars filling out the first team over the next couple of weeks, even if he is handed millions.

Pity about Turan now being cup-tied - would've loved to have seen him in the squad by the end of August.

Anyone else get the feeling that Kuyt and Babel will be used primarily as strikers this season?

Parma Violet.

babel should be given a chance as a striker. rafa destroyed him by playin him at da wings. kuyt is a donkey

As stated on the BBC Transfer Gossip this morning, it would seem that we need to sign some more home grown players in order to comply with the new squad rules, otherwise we'll be forced to include very inexperienced youngsters in the squad. If we are able to sign one or two English players with Premier League experience it would be a major boost as the youngsters would not have to be named as part of the squad, but could still be used if necessary due to the "under 21" part of the new rules. Therefore, assuming that the takeover doesn't go through in the next week which would give Hodgson time to do the research he spoke about, I expect Masch to leave for Inter and the money to be spent on Poulsen and two more English players before the transfer window closes, and I think that SWP or Bridge will be one (City are unlikely to want to let both go for exactly the same reason we are looking to sign them) and the other will be a keeper.

To the guy who said this:

The worst ever player without doubt is still playing.....Dirk Kuyt!! He can't pass, gives the ball away ALL the time which puts the team under pressure. Johnson can't overlap because once he does Kuyt gets tackled and he's out of position. He so slow it's untrue, but that doesn't matter because he works hard! haha Roy will play him against Arsenal and see him give the ball away 10 times out of the first 11. The only pass he ever makes is back to Johnson. The man can't go forward, most of his few goals are tap ins at the end of games. Utter gash, I just hope Roy doesn't get sucked in by his talk and brown nosing. Gerrard and Torres know he's gash also, and always preferred Yossi on the right.
Basically any team who plays against us doesn't need a midfield destroyer because Dirk Kuyt does it for them……….A Cole, P Konchesky, W Bridge, L Baines and S Warnock were asked who's the easiest player to play against and they all said the same…you've guest it……….The work horse…..Dirk 'I can't pass it forward without giving it away, Mr first touch is a miss control, 2nd is a tackle' Kuyt!

Dutchy i share your thoughts exactly he slows down the tempo so much its untrue last night little dani pacheco looked far better and he isnt the finished article! he kept the ball moving and after a few nerves looked to always get the ball forward!

People have put N'Gog in the bracket of Liverpool's worst signing? He made 26 appearances due to Torres' injuries, this is a big ask of anyone to fill his boots! Now going onto this season, Roy is bringing the best out of some players and N'gog is one been to both European games upto now and I know it is only Rabotnicki Skopje but the lads still need to perform and N'gog was quality in both legs, his movement and control was quality and 3 goals to add, but the lad needs to be more clinical in front of goal but that will come with time and experience!

Going onto the worst player:
Sean Dundee
Erik Meijer
Frode Kippe
Alou Diarra (The lad is quality now)

06 Aug 2010 10:56:05
Not a rumour but I just want say that we need another striker desperatley, I personally don't think Ngog is good enough for liverpool at present, I'm not saying he wont improve but I would rather see someone else signed to partner or back up torres and send Ngog out on loan to somewhere where he's going to regular football and develop as player. I weas also wondering is it just me or does anyone else not want to see lucas as our defensive midfielder. I don't mind using Lucas as a midfield pair and not have a set defensive player, just a straight forward midfield 2, But I think we will come unstuck if he is diployed in a defensive role. He loses the ball to much to do the mascherano role. If he loses it further up the feild it's not ideal but at least you have a better chance of recovery, loose it as defensive midfielder you going to concede goals.

I personally would ask for cambiasso and money for mascherano, or better still cambiaso and santon and some more money , But that might be pushing our luck, I suppose it depends on how badly Inter and Rafa want Him.

Feel free to comment (or slag me off).

According to The Sun, Goal.com & a variety of other sources:

It appears that Roy Hodgson has expressed interest in Danish International Christian Poulsen (30yrs) of Juventus. Roy apparently tried to kick-start Poulsen's career when Roy signed him to FC Copenhagen in 2000 and it appears that Roy is interested in getting him back in the red of Liverpool.

Hodgson admits that if a favorable price can be figured out than Poulsen would be the most likely replacement for the more-than-likely to leave Mascherano. Speculated transfee-fee for Poulsen is seen at £6,000,000 but with Hodgsons business sense, Poulsen could possibly be at Anfield this season for a fee in the region of £5-5.5mil.

I can think of a few in recent times, mainly the influx of 2nd rate french and spanish players over the past few years...

Bruno "the new zidane" Cheyrou...only cause he looked a bit like him but infact he was technically useless..

JUST A THOUGHT AFTER WATCHING THE GAME LAST NIGHT.......IF RH CHOOSES TO KEEP A SIMILAR FORMATION TO THE ONE HE PLAYED LAST NIGHT THEN I WOULD HOPE THAT ARE TEAM LOOKS SOMETHING LIKE THIS, THIS SEASON:

REINA

JOHNSON CARRA/SKRTEL AGGER BRIDGE

GERRARD POULSEN

KUYT/SWP COLE BABEL/ TURAN

TORRES

I WAS VERY IMPRESSED WITH COLE LAST NIGHT AND IN MARTIN KELLY WE HAVE A HUGE TALENT- WHY WOULD WE NEED THE LIKES OF GARY CAHILL ETC...

I KNOW I HAVE INCLUDED POULSEN IN MY TEAM, AND LIKE MOST ON HERE I REALLY DONT KNOW WHY ROY WNATS HIM, I DONT RATE HIM AS A LIVERPOOL PLAYER, BUT WE MUST TRUST IN RH.

IF THE TAKE OVER DID HAPPEN I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THE LIKES OF RIBERY OR ROBBEN ON THE LEFT INSTEAD OF TURAN, THOUGH WOULD TAKE TURAN AS WELL AND PLAY HIM ON THE RIGHT.

I JUST FEEL THAT THE FORMATION WE PLAYED LAST NIGHT, ALTHOUGH IT LOOKS SIMILAR TO RAFAS, IF YOU HAVE THE RIGHT CREATIVE PLAYERS IN THAT LAST ATTACKING 3RD WOULD BE HUGELY EFFECTIVE.

AT LEATS LAST NIGHT THE TWO IN THE MIDDLE WERENT BOTH SITTING MIDFIELDERS- LUCAS DONE A BIT OF PROTECTING, STEVIE G HAD THE OPTIONS OF CREATING AND MOVING FORWARD.

RH has said he would like 2-3/couple of players, i would guess that these would be British, and from Tottenham/Villa/City: consistent performers, possibly one foreigner, this is who I think we have a chance of getting: ( not all of them )
1. Stephen Ireland
2. Peter Crouch
3. Gareth Barry/Nigel De Jong
4. James Milner ( very unlikely )
5. Gareth Bale
6. Arda Turan
7. Ever Banega
8. Shaun Wright-Phillips
2/3 players will sign.

OK This is what is happening. Or what i think is going to happen. The takeover will NOT be completed by the end of the transfer window and hence no additional funds will be available for Roys use. However Poulsen will be signed and Mascherano will NOT leave. A striker will be purchased But it will not be a big money name. More likely Remy, Ruiz or Huntelaar. That will be it for the window. Expect big money signings in January by the Time Huang will have taken Over from the c**ts.

Djimi Traore - an absolutely inept defender. God knows how he ended up with a UEFA CL winners medal. There really is no justice in this world.

Kevin McDonald - A player who managed to master the art of appearing to sprint while actually moving at less than walking pace. And somehow a 'Double' winner.

Jimmy Carter - God forbid

David Speedie - A booking-happy referees dream.

A quick comment on our man Roy:
When he was appointed manager I wasn't sure, but boy has he done a Stella job since taking over. What I'm most impressed about is the calmness he has brought back to the club even though this is the most important close season in memory.
Considering last night's game was all but over, I was very impressed with the enthusiasm all our players showed.
I can see him spending shrewdly no matter what the transfer budget. He will make big signings but won't spend just because he has it.
Nice one Roy keep up the good work.

If you're going to post at least have the first idea of the subject to which you refer."

Well that sounds alot like most governments in the world! I guess we'd better refuse to speak to any investor then. Silly boy.

The political backgrounds of any bidder should't really come into the arguement. No other club in the world seems to mind. (Chelsea, Man U, Man City, Real Madrid, Barcelona, the list is endless) As much as it annoys me we have to come to terms with the fact that football has become a business and has been for some time. The inflated wages and transfer costs have blown any chance for a club to be run like they used to be. If you don't have the money, you'd better get used to lower league football. If that's what you really want then fine. I know I don't.
I was stating a fact that money that has brought other clubs is no different to where this cash injection will come from, wherever it might be.

Everyone is entitled to thier own opinion, and I don't think this site was designed as a "let's have a go at anyone who shares thier thoughts" site. I read posts, I either believe or not and that's the end of it.

The mighty reds are part of a City and Villa tug of war triangle. Milner is holding out for a potential post-takeover move to Pool, hence why he's not already just gone to money-bags City. If Pool don't get the money in time we want SWP and maybe Ireland. City may comply as long as we back off Milner! There's the triangle, which means nothing with any of there players will happen until the takeover is clear, cos if City sell, Pool WILL compete for Milner.

CIC denials mean nothing because the people denying the deal are the people not even involved in it. Make of this what you will. But it comes from someone who is a legend with regard to rumours for Liverpool FC.

Whats with all the players linked to 'pool? Roy says that there will not be a overhaul of the squad and all that's needed is depth, however youth will be at the fore front. Do you want to become a Chelsea or Man City? Hell NO...We have history and grooming the likes of Kelly, Amoo, Mavinga, Coady, Ince, Spearing, Sterling, Silva, Darby, Irwin, Wisdom, Dalle Valle, Nemeth, Suso, Bruna, Eccelston and especially that of Dani Pacheco is a must for this club. I hate going out there and buying every Tom, Dick and Harry...Won't you all like to see the young ones shine...Roy is all COMMON SENSE and knows that King Kenny and co. wants the youth to shine!

I hope for billionaire owners but I don't want whats happening at ManCity. They pushed over their youth and just buy big...Does it make sense to have De Jong, Kompany, sit on the bench for Yaya?...

I hope all the rumours are fake and just buy Nigel De Jong... Sell El Zhar, Plessis, Itanje, Degen, and even Nemeth if he's not in the future

By the way, Morientes was one of the worst Reds, even though he's a legend at Madrid

As a 30 year old fan the worst player I have ever seen at Anfield was a Souness player Torbein Peichnik, the best player in my lifetime John Barnes.

Adriy Voronin, easily the worst signing of all time. Closely followed by Anthony Le Tallec. Signing players from World Cups or Junior tounaments seemed to be liverpool's modus operandi for a while, thank god that has finished

Interview with Roy Hodgson, taken from BBC Sport:

"We have made some signings so far and we hope to bring in at least a couple of other players," he said.

"I think the danger would be in a late takeover. That money would be made available but we wouldn't have had a chance to research the players in this transfer window.

"We are doing our research in this window and targeting players that the club is able to buy.

"If one day an enormous amount of money is made available like it was for Manchester City and Chelsea so be it, it would be nice.

"But we would still have to do a lot of research before we started splashing that money around.

"It is not a question of how much a player costs, it is how good he is." - Roy Hodgson

I must say that it is incredibly refreshing to have a manager that puts the club ahead of his own personal conflict with upper management. This interview after the 2-0 win against Rabotnick at Anfield suggests that there is not a large amount of money to be spent on players this transfer window unless a takeover happens immenintely and that any transfers that do occer will only occur after thorough investigation.

This leads me to believe that only players of established experience will be brought in with very little risk of signing any more young/injury prone players. With Hodgson's notion of bringing in English players, I expect Roy to place some tentative bids in for unwanted English players at Man City and/or maybe a cheeky bid for some consistent performers at Tottenham/Aston Villa.

Blair Mayne YNWA opined at 06 Aug 2010 01:23:45:

"Chinese expert Dr Kerry Brown said the Chinese government was keen to diversify its investments abroad.

The thinking behind this may be that they want to do it in partnership with someone like Huang because he knows about this sector."

I don't see what Huang knows about the sector. You will also note the strategic use of "may" - meaning he is speculating.

"He said the CIC was very sensitive about criticism it had made bad investments in the past and was keen not to get its fingers burnt."

This may well be true - but seems irrelevant.

"Mr Huang is not a huge player in China but he is certainly well respected."

Respected by whom? It is a pity he is so vague.

"The key thing is that they [CIC] are tremendously inexperienced at investing abroad"

BS. They have an international presence with investments across the globe including Dragon Oil, Blackstone, VISA, Canary Wharf, Penn West and numerous others. Possibly not the expert he professes to be.

"To- Sharkey and whoever thought that CIC were telling the truth saying they did not even know Kenny Huang read the above and make your own minds up!"

It certainly doesn't change my mind at all.

"This is an arcticle Dr Kerry ( a Chinese expert) did for the Echo."

Chinese food expert perhaps?

Huang still comes across as a snake oil salesman to me.

I no idea why loic remy is linked with us. Why would we be interested in remy when we have ngog. Ngog is younger and a better player than remy. People might point to remy's good strike rate but ngog would have at least that many goals if he played in France. I think last year was a bit unfair to ngog because he was just 20 years old and thrown into the first XI because rafa had no backup for Torres. But he improved drastically throughout the season and it looks like he has continued to develop over the summer. 3 goals in 2 games is not too bad (even if it is against a bad euro team). I think Roy should only buy a world class striker to play alongside Torres. Ngog is sufficient backup. And buy Connor wickham like I posted earlier.

Hey ed, If this 150 Million rumour is true, who do you think Liverpool would buy? Obviously they would not spend all 150 MIllion, but i could see a few "Big Buys"

I could be wrong, but with 150 Million:
40 Mil for Aguero,
35 Mil for A. Young.
14 Mil for Taiwo
30 Mil for Milner
9 Mil for Wickham
10 Mil on 4 more Youth players all English.

Masch out 26 Mil in.

Liverpool need to buy some local lads and new investment mean they can finally afford the good (and therefore expensive) players like Milner (£30m), Young (£25m), Bale (£25m), Parker (£10-15m), Carlton Cole (£10-15m), Cattermole (£10-15m), Shawcross (£10-15m).

None of these lads are local either, most of them are southerners.. Local would be Spearing, Carra, Gerrard etc... Liverpool lads play at a decent level at High School, but very few make the grade...

2. Can we trust CIC's denial?
3. If not CIC, is another Chinese goverment finance organisation involved?

What a load of bulls**t! If you think that Stan Collymore was LFC's worst ever player then maybe you should buy football for dummies.

I agree he wasted his talent to a large degree but he scored 35 goals in 70 games for Liverpool while helping Robbie Fowler to 64 goals in the same period. Sean Dundee is undisputedly the leading contender for biggest donkey with Diomede / Kozma / Tanner / Degen all neck and neck.

Kenny Huang's office today stated that they have yet to make a formal bid for Liverpool but they have said they are interested in making an offer for the club. Huang is rumoured to be funded by a sovereign wealth fund from the Far East, and although I could be wide off the mark with whom Huang is getting his backers from, I thought it would be logical to surmise that considering Huang has extensive connections with many of China's state owned businesses, it would be reasonable to assume that they would be involved in such a deal. Especially because Huang's investment firm Rocket Capital, formed with the billions of NBA owners Les Alexander and Billy Joe McCombs, has invested into these companies, I thought that these four could have some involvement.

Brilliance Auto – The company is one of the leading automotive manufacturers in China. After its formation in 1992, Brilliance Auto has developed to become a massive player in China, not only manufacturing it's own cars, but also establishing joint ventures with other car companies, including BMW, Toyota and Mitsubishi. In 2003, it agreed a deal to manufacture the BMW 3 series and 5 series in China while also selling there own "minibuses" for sale in the Chinese market. Promoting their brand through Liverpool worldwide could provide an excellent opportunity for the company.

Anta Sports Group – Probably the most likely to involved in the Liverpool deal, Anta Sports is one of the leading sportswear companies in China. It leads the market in sports footwear in China and it states on it's website its' ambitions for promoting its brand:

Uni-President Enterprises – The company is Taiwan's largest food company and through its subsidiaries exports everything from food products to animal feeds. In joint ventures or through affiliates, it also has large investments in both China itself and in the surrounding Asia/Pacific region. Interestingly enough for Liverpool fans, the business also owns the President Lions professional baseball team in Taiwan, indicating its interest in sport.

Sinoma International Engineering – Sinoma formed in 2001 and is listed on the Shanghai stock exchange. It specialises in engineering consultancy, engineering design, construction and supply, and has progressed in the last nine years to become a leader in both the domestic and overseas cement engineering industry. It is keen to develop and raise awareness of its business abroad and is keen to become a leading top 100 project general contractors in the next few years.

All of these companies then have two things in common: 1) they have close connections with Kenny Huang and 2) they are all keen to promote their companies worldwide with two of them already involved in sport in some shape or form. Whether they are part of the sovereign wealth fund backing Huang is up for debate, but it does show that Huang has connections to many extremely wealthy companies.

From todays Times

Liverpool have told potential bidders for the club that they have until the middle of next week to prove they have the cash. The Times has also learnt more details about the leading bid, backed by the Chinese Government.

Martin Broughton, the Liverpool chairman, set the deadline yesterday. The club could change ownership as quickly as next Friday with the consortium fronted by Kenny Huang, the Hong Kong-based entrepreneur, remaining in pole position.

China Investment Capital (CIC), the investment arm of the Chinese Government, holds a significant stake in the bid, as revealed by The Times yesterday. It has now emerged that the man responsible for raising cash for the Chinese consortium is Dr Yang Guang, the executive vice-president of Franklin Templeton Investments, one of the largest global investment fund groups.

The New York-based Guang has acquired finance from a number of sources, including significant investment from banking institutions, but CIC would hold the majority stake in any takeover. However, CIC will not invest directly in the Merseyside club, but into a new company created specifically to push the deal through.
Guang joined QSL Sports Limited, Huang's company, in May and has been a conduit for Chinese investment in the West since the early 1990s. The Harvard-educated financier has strong links with the Chinese Government.

Despite reports to the contrary yesterday, CIC has not denied its involvement in the Liverpool bid. Officials at China's investment fund have assessed the business plans for the club and believe that CIC will make a considerable profit by pumping money into Anfield.

The decision to attempt to invest in Liverpool was taken purely on money-making potential and sources close to the deal were keen to distinguish CIC's intentions from the takeovers at Chelsea and Manchester City, which came down to the decisions of rich individuals — Roman Abramovich and Sheihk Mansour respectively — to buy the clubs.

Unlike the owners of Chelsea and City, CIC would have little input in the day-to-day running of the club. Decision-making at Anfield would be left to executives with extensive experience in the Premier League, with new positions created to exploit Far Eastern markets.

Huang has already told Barclays Capital (BarCap), the investment bank brokering the sale, the Premier League and Broughton that he has the backing of CIC. BarCap needs proof that bidders are good for the £300 million plus required to buy the club before they can pass through to a final round of the auction.

Supporter reaction to the idea of Chinese-led ownership was generally favourable yesterday, with the majority of fans keen to see the back of Tom Hicks and George Gillett Jr, the present co-owners.

The two other bids that remained on the table yesterday are thought to be from the private equity group, Rhône Capital, and the billionaire al-Kharafi family of Kuwait.
Further pressure was heaped on Hicks and Gillett to finalise a swift sale when an American court ruled yesterday that Hicks's creditors can attempt to seize his assets.

The judge handling the bankruptcy of Hicks's baseball team, the Texas Rangers, said lenders — who are still owed $525 million after the Texan defaulted on loans — can pursue his other companies for the money. One of the Rangers' creditors is Alex Rodríguez, the former player and the youngest baseball player to hit 600 home runs.

Broughton declined to comment last night on whether creditors could try to enforce their claims against Hicks's share of Liverpool.

My sources can confirm that the real reasons Ken Agueros transfer to Liverpool fell through.... Two Reasons..

1, Ken thought that Ken Yong (not Heung) was taking over and thought that the owner of his favourite takeaway was going to give him free Pancake Rolls.

2. He has recently signed up with a new agency formed by Del Trotter (of T.I.T) and Boycie, who convinced him his future lays with The Nags Head's revitalised club, Managed by his favourite scouser Denzil, and his old mentor Mickey as assistant Manager. Chairman Mike has signed him for 3 Pina Colada's a week, with varied bonus's of Cushty deals negotiated by Del Trotter and business partner Rodney. Though there is a rumour that Ken has being having an affair with club secratary Cassandra, cheif scout Albert denies any wrong doings....

Thanks to my mate Dave...

Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson will not spend the £150m which may be handed to him should Chinese tycoon Kenny Huang take control of the Merseyside club. Hodgson believes many players in his squad could lose motovation given the fact there would be heavy speculation about players arriving and players leaving.

Despite this, he plans to invest in his squad should a take-over be complete before the end of the transfer window. Hodgson plans on making an £11m move for Porto's Uruguay international left-back Jorge Fucile who impressed at the World Cup. It is believed that new Porto coach Andre Villas-Boas would be willing to let the defender leave for the right price, and let Fucile's highly rated international team-mate Alvaro Pereira inherit the left-back position. Should a move for Fucile fail, Hodgson will turn his attentions to £10m rated Marseille left-back Teemu Taiwo, who's move to Atletico Madrid failed to come to fruition.

Hodgson will also move for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema who he rates extremly highly. He believes regular first team football at Anfield would revive his career and also believes he is the perfect foil for Fernando Torres. The Liverpool boss would be willing to pay up to £24m for the striker, who has failed to impress at the Santiago Bernabeau. Jose Mourinho may keep hold of Benzema, prompting Hodgson to follow up interest in £15m-rated Sampdoria striker Giampaolo Pazzini.

It is believed that Hodgson plans to give his squad the opportunity to prove their worth, before thinking about any major spending in the transfer market and he is fully confident tht the addition of a left-back and a top quality striker would take Liverpool to the next level.

Roy's not looking for any striking options as he likes to play a 4-4-2 with Torres and either (Kuyt, Babel, Ngog and even Jova if need be). Buying Remy is an investment to sell, but I truly believe that Babel and Ngog will mature well under Roy.

Well they played a 4-3-3 today and that was without 2 of their best attacking options in Torres and Kuyt. Personally I hope they play a 4-3-3, I think it is a better use of their talent. In that formation both Gerrard and Cole can play AMC, with a DM in either Lucas or Mascherano's replacement. Then Torres up front with Jovanovic, Kuyt or Maxi as wide forwards with possibly a signing up front also.

Liverpool will continue talks with Middlesbrough over the next 48 hours over a possible move for 28 year old goalkeeper Brad Jones. Despite being an Australian international, Jones qualifies for the 'homegrown' quota as he went throught the Middlesbrough academy. Very good move by Hodgson as Jones is experienced, good back up to Reina, is happy to sit on the bench and wait patiently for his chance and wants the move himself. He has told Boro he is disappointed with their decision to accept an initial bid of £2million as they are holding out for £3million. This will probably happen over the weekend.

Christian Poulsen is in talks with Liverpool although a fee is yet to be agreed. Liverpool are very reluctant to make an offer until the Javier Mascherano situation is rectified. A loan bid will be discussed for Liverpool to cover their backs but this may be rejected my Juventus.

Loic Remy still a possibility, he will speak to West Ham and Liverpool after the weekend.

Liverpool will be taken over by Mukesh Ambani, 4th Richest man in the world, will be confirmed on August 23rd.

06 Aug 2010 00:54:26
Liverpool should try and finally get Luiz Suarez who scored 49 goals last season in Holland, had a good World Cup (except that screamer of a hand ball).

Rafa tried or considered buying him in 2007 and this year. We keep missing out on really good players - about time we got our man!

He will be worth alot more and now Man U and Chelski are interested but worth a shout.

Guys you got it ALL wrong.
Worst player in Liverpool's glorious history is:
Frode Kipp, so bad we loaned him out to Stoke, TWICE.
This Norwegian had high hopes (Literally) @ 6"4 of becoming Liverpool dominant centre half in the late 90's. Sadly though Frode never made the 1st team.

06 Aug 2010 00:46:00
STRIKER

Roy seems to still have about £25 million to play with (kitty + sales) WITHOUT including the money from a Mascherano sale.

THE ONE AREA WE NEED QUALITY REINFORCEMENTS ARE A £20Million QUALITY STRIKER (Augero wont happen unless the takeover goes through). We need a finished product, maybe not THE best like Dzeko or Aguero but one that isnt a risk like Loic Remy might be.

I would get Luis Suarez of Ajax as he looks like he could play off Torres AND a loan deal for Huntelaar (ok he said he wouldnt leave Italy and fight for his place but that can change). The advantage is that Suarez and Huntelaar played together a few years ago at Ajax and would have a good understanding going into the season with a series of tough first few games.

I would like to see maybe a few more signings before the transfer window closes. Possibly a left back, I think bridge, although I know we have aurellio I still think it would be a good buy. Also maybe a midfielder, Steven defour would be great if possible and a striking partner for torres, any Ideas?

Yesterday, Huang distanced himself from suggestions that he is backed directly by the Chinese Government, but it is understood he in fact represents a group of businessmen from that country who have worked closely with the state in securing Chinese investment across the globe

This is a piece of an article i took of the Mirror by respected journalist Dave Maddock (massive LFC fan)

I don't know if it is true but if it is it could shed some light on who Kenny Huang's backers are IF he has any.

Blair Mayne YNWA

Kenny Huang has apparently now informed the Liverpool board that he is being backed by China's largest sovereign fund in a bid to step up his pursuit of the club.

Huang issued a statement earlier today distancing himself from any bids for Liverpool with the investment arm, who have assets worth $332billion (£208bn), keen to tie up a deal in principal before the end of the month away from the media spotlight.

However the Chinese businessman has since confirmed his interest in Liverpool but has yet to provide proof of CIC's funding to the board of Kop Holdings - the club's parent company before they can be considered as serious contenders to succeed George Gillett and Tom Hicks as owners.

'Gareth Bale is welsh :L'

Not my original post, but i have to defend this guy. If you knew anything about football you would know that the homegrown rule applies to welsh players too as Swansea and Cardiff feature in our English leagues. So Bale would qualify for the homegrown rule. He's not local as such, but we all knew what this guy meant.

Worst player...
@ the guy giving a whole list, each of those signings as cost us how much ?
For a signing to be bad it has to disrupt the squad, tarnish the clubs image, or waste loads of cash. That narrows it down to Craig Bellamy(disruptive little bugger), El Hadj Diouf(dirty, cheating, scum) and Robbie keane(cost £20m, sold for £12m, biggest waste of £8million ever).

Can't believe people are nominating Lucas and N'Gog for this - i suppose they must be very young and not much knowledge of Liverpool players from years gone by - i mean nobody was worse than Bernard Diomede and whats worse he had a world cup winners medal!!

For those posting potential new players, IDIOTIC to have NO English players in there (esp given the new Premier League rules). EVEN WITHOUT NEW INVESTMENT, ROY HODGSON HAS ALREADY LOOKED TO BUY BRITISH PLAYERS.

Gareth Bale is welsh :L

so is Wales not in britain any more?
but to the original poster...we won't get parker...west ham won't let him go FACT, ashley young is living on his reputation from 2 seasons ago, and james milner is off to s**tty!! cattermole and shawcross combined would cost at least, if not more, than the mascherano price being touted, bale i would'nt let walk my dog, and as for carlton cole...please stop , your too young to remember what a propper cente forward is......if ya think carlton cole is the answer ya better join the graham souness school of management!
