BASKETBALL MEGASTAR LeBron James has struck a deal with the owners of Liverpool FC to become a part owner of the club, it s been reported tonight.
The Wall Street Journal said James, currently with Miami Heat, had reached a deal with Liverpool s owner Fenway Sports Group which would see James take on a small stake in the club, in returning for giving an FSG subsidiary the right to become his exclusive worldwide agent.
The deal, the WSJ said, was the first time that a professional athlete had taken an ownership in a team of Liverpool s stature.
We re not interested in talent or athlete representation but we think he is one of the most remarkable athletes of his time, FSG co-owner Tom Werner said in an interview.
We believe we can open doors for LeBron, and LeBron can open doors for us.
James, who earns $15, 800,000 per season with the Heat, joined the side after a protracted, high-profile move from the Cleveland Cavaliers last summer. He also takes in an estimated $30m a year through sponsorship deals with the likes of Nike and Coca-Cola.
His basic sporting wage equating to around £185,000 a week is higher than that of Liverpool s own highest earner, club captain Steven Gerrard, who is thought to earn about £135,000 a week.
FSG previously known as New England Sports Ventures won control of the Anfield club following a protracted battle of their own against the club s former owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett during the summer.
That takeover saw legal action at courts on either side of the Atlantic, with courts in Dallas imposing injunctions on the sale of the club by chairman Martin Broughton only for Britain s High Court to then rule the earlier injunctions void.
Hicks and Gillett are still pursuing Broughton and the other former members of the Liverpool board for damages.

Ed do you know if we have made any offer (pre contract) for Phillipe Mexes?

Isn't he on a free by then? I think with our lack of depth in that area we should be looking to bolster and for free it's a good deal.

Also with Clichy nearing his last 12 months I would test Arsenal's resolve for him.

I would also enquire about Yuri Zhirkov as he would hopefully sold for roughly 8-10 million.

{Ed002's Note - There is a good chance of some of the players being signed, Marveaux in particular. We also know of interesxt in Adam and Young. We are told that Benzema signed in January but he didn't. Sanchez will not, in my opinion, be seen in the red of Liverpool next season.}

If Bayern are getting Fabio Coentrao then maybe either Phillipp Lahm or Frank Ribery could become available. . I know there was interest in Ribery according to Sky Sports a few years ago, either player would be good for us. . Turan doesn't look like he'll be playing for us anytime soon, if he goes to Valencia maybe Mata could become available, just my brain workin overtime but you never know. .

Ed i know these signings are highly unlikely but do you think we'll get maybe 1 marquee signing in the summer???
I never personally thought we'd get Suarez but we did. .

{Ed002's Note - It depends what you consider a marquee signing. I expect Liverpool to certainly make some changes in the summer. I would not hold your breath over Neymar. I also don't expect Lahm or Ribery to be making the move - although Bayern would jump at any decent offer for Ribery.}

Hey ed i was just wondering if you know anything about Insua?

I think his contract is out in the summer? Do you think he could do a job for us as backup LB/ Winger? I mean he is still young and his wages wouldn't be too high and is still young. . i mean look at Lucas over the last two years he has come on so well.

Just wondering if you think he will be offered a new contract or not and your opinion on him. Personally i probably would have him as cover but i doubt it will happen.

LFCJAKE {Ed002's Note - His deal with Galatasaray runs out in the summer and I did expect him to return in January. I am guessing he will move on this summer to pastures new.}

i don't want the cheating t**t, not remember what he did to pepe ? {Ed002's Note - There are no Robben rumours. Just bad journalism. A statement about the Europa Cup was taken out of context to mean that if Bayern did not qualify for the Champions League he would win. What he meant was that the team had to play better to make sure they qualified for the Champions League.}

Former Liverpool target Arda Turan is apparently in advanced talks with Valencia.

Ed, you do think this is down to the draw on CL football or that we never actually rated that much? {Ed002's Note - Atletico Madrid or Valencia are certainly looking like the probable destinations. I don't expect Liverpool have shown an interest.}

Oh no! Just heard Daniel Agger and Glen Johnson are out for rest/ most of the season! Bad News! But on the Good Side I heard that we are progressing in talks with the clubs of Willian , Dzsudzsak , Gaitan , Young , Jarvis , Marveaux (Almost a done deal) and possibly Perotti . That's who I have been told we are monitoring for now but as you all know things change in football! So maybe a surprise bid for a bigger player like Adam Johnson if we go by our January Transfers but we are NOT monitoring him yet anyway! Good luck to all and hope for a spending spree like no other in the Summer! Cheers Ed what do you think? great site !

Hey everyone i have no sources tht i trust at all but however a mates of mine at work has a cousin in man city youth ranks and apparatnly there is talk going around tht liverpool have enquired about adam johnson, and tht man city are willing to sell however they will not sell to us unless it meets thee terms as they can see tht liverpool are on the up and dnt want to sell a player they know will aid liverpool drastically as they are starting to see us a rivals more and more, i personally dnt think its true, i dnt think man city would ever sell to one of the top clubs but thought id pass on the message

I have heard something similar but have been told it is Michael Johnson we have asked about as an alternative to James McCarthy of Wigan. City are willing to sell Michael but not Adam.

I hope kenny brings Arda to us. we all would love to see him, here. He is quality and absolutely fantastic player with a quite low price tag than that of the others, who are of his calibre. ed, do u think, he is on the list. I hope so, because he is absolutely fantastic. Just see his stats, only. When he is on the field, Turkey plays brilliant. he has all, what we need. Arda over all the wingers for me. what do you think, ed? Thanks alot {Ed002's Note - He will be moving in the summer - most likely to Atletico Madrid. OK i know this sounds ridiculous but i heard a whisper that Torres might be seeking a move away from Chelsea in the summer (reportedly he's not happy with the move and didn't want to move in the first place), maybe even to LFC. Any truth in this eds?
And also could u clarify what happened with the Torres Saga. Who prompted him to move? was it entirely his decision?
S.G.L.F.C. {Ed001's Note - I can not see any circumstances under which he returns to Liverpool in the summer. He failed to make any attempt to become a part of the team off the field and I would expect he is doing the same at Chelsea. He could get away with it for us because we were so short of forward options, Chelsea have plenty of them. He wanted to leave, he had wanted to leave in the past but promises had been made about big money being spent which were broken time and again. Then there was the fall out with the medical staff, which led to the entire team being changed. His head was turned to go to a team which could challenge for the title, he thought, this season. A team who promised to offer the best medical staff to look after his injuries and not ask him to play when he wasn't 100%.}

Re the Kaka rumour.

Was told about a week ago buy a Radio Five live News reader, that there were rumours flying about regarding Kaka, and a possible move the Anfield, dismissed it at the time as more rubbish, but in the light of the previous post make of it what you will.

Poulson off to everton, but with no baines coming this way (he is not a red , he's
a lifelong blue ). I totally agree with a earlier post regarding Adam and Young ,
over-rated and in Youngs case probably over-priced . I also think Ever Banega will become one of worlds best midfielders and we should do our utmost to get
him before a rival does.Turan i would like but we need a ?proper? left-footed
winger.Ed are there any whispers on the wingers situation i.e. PSV lad or some
other continental player ?
