Hi Eds

On the left back situation has our interest totally died in Jordan Amavi of Aston Villa? Would be a far better shout than Andrew Robertson.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - There is no remaining Liverpool interest in Amavi. Klipperty still has the Klopps for Robertson.}

06 Jun 2017 00:07:07
Cheers ed
Thanks for your reply just can't see what he see's in him unfortunately.

Scottish players often do well at lfc; )

Agree7 Disagree1

06 Jun 2017 00:36:43
I really think Robertson will shine at Liverpool. He's going to be joining a pretty special defence project. And at the reported 8 mil he's a snip compared to 35+ for mendy. If it were your money what would you do? I love the club but is mend 4× the player Rob is? I don't think he is. I want a great squad but felt pride at lfc being "in the black" this season. While giving city and Chelsea an attacking lesson. I'd take lacazette though :)

Agree12 Disagree4

06 Jun 2017 02:31:09
ed001 - did you have an opinion of robertson mate? I think you said somewhere that you've seen him plenty of times, but not sure if you gave an assessment on him?
thanks in advance.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - I have given an opinion on him countless times. He is not a player that impresses me.}

06 Jun 2017 03:21:41
You really do think differently to me. I think fullbacks are really important for us especially for those games that needs 'unlocking'. I would spend all I need to get who I wanted. I would take Alaba and Alves, but because Alaba won't leave Bayern for us, Mendy would be my second choice. If not then perhaps Jordi Alba. But really i hunk we need to get excellent fullbacks to compete. Robertson won't do.

Agree0 Disagree2

{Ed001's Note - why Alba? Jordi Alba is hopeless.}

06 Jun 2017 06:53:10
I'd take Jessica Alba.

Agree16 Disagree0

06 Jun 2017 07:18:35
For me Milner deserves the left back role, he earned it last season, sound defensively and going forward. Plus he can take free kicks and pens. His experience will be vital and has to stay in the team. I can't see him playing anywhere else. Save the cash and get the Ox.

Agree3 Disagree8

06 Jun 2017 07:28:59
Ricardo Rodriguez? Quality player playing for a team that has just had to play in a playoff to avoid being relegated. Not blessed with incredible pace but a great defender and he has as good a final ball from free kicks and crosses as anyone.

Agree1 Disagree2

06 Jun 2017 07:34:12
Milner has now become predictable in attack for opposition teams. Defensively he is decent and has done well for the new role.

Agree5 Disagree0

06 Jun 2017 07:38:08
Plus Milner's crossing and Corners are excellent. 1 goal in evey 3 croses 😎.

Agree1 Disagree4

06 Jun 2017 07:58:19
Id still rather get a left footed player for the left. Too predictable down that side with everyone pulling back onto right foot. Milner I'd be happy to see used a RB as TAA is brought through if that was the only alternative to Clyne day dreaming through games.

Agree1 Disagree0

06 Jun 2017 09:46:18
I'll be happy if we sign Robertson, thought he looked a decent player in a rubbish Hull side, good defensively and quick to get forward with a decent left foot. Don't see him starting ahead of Milner though. I'd also be happy with Milner starting the season as first choice LB, thought he was excellent last season. Hope we push through with Van Dijk deal now, unbelievable signing, crazy money Southampton making on him.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jun 2017 10:25:47
Concerning Milner, while i imagine he isn't a complainer at all, i don't think he wants to stay at left back.
He also strikes me as a player who doenst mind battling for a place in his preferred position. or left or right of that position :)

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Jun 2017 21:44:13
Hi Eds, I believe Lucas's contract is up later this month. Are there any rumours as to whether he will sign (or be given? ) a new one, or head off on a free? Thanks Z.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

{Ed025's Note - nothing on him at the moment mate..

05 Jun 2017 22:13:12
No probs, fingers crossed something can be worked out as I think he still has a lot to offer as an experienced squad player and one of the few players to have played for Liverpool regularly in the CL!

Agree2 Disagree0

05 Jun 2017 21:35:17
"Reported Liverpool target Andy Robertson won't make decision 'until well into summer'"

S*d him then.

Believable9 Unbelievable0

05 Jun 2017 22:05:31
It's June.

Is he Australian or something? This is summer!

Agree8 Disagree0

05 Jun 2017 22:15:20
He's missed his chance. Its tipping down here, I reckon we're into Autumn already.

06 Jun 2017 07:19:59
First month of winter here in Australia.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jun 2017 08:31:14
Pfft, he should be so lucky.
I can't imagine a player of his calibre saying
" oh look, Liverpool are on the blower, best keep them waiting another 8 weeks ".

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Jun 2017 21:25:45
is it likely that Liverpool will push for mendy again or has that ship sailed? if not was wondering if their any alternatives other than robertson or tymon

cheers.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i dont think mendy is viable at the moment tadders, and im not sure on the others mate..

05 Jun 2017 20:33:08
Hi Eds, do you think we will get in any trouble with tapping up regarding Salah and VVD, seems like we have agreed everything with the players and not the clubs.

Believable1 Unbelievable4

{Ed025's Note - no jay, as far as i know things have been done in the correct manner mate..

05 Jun 2017 20:37:25
Thanks Ed025's.

Agree6 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - no worries mate..

05 Jun 2017 20:47:33
What happens if we can't agree a fee? leaves both hung out to dry really.
I'm guessing we only get permission to speak with the player once both clubs are in the same region with regards to a fee? then once personal terms are agreed just iron out the finer details with regards to the fee?
Seems to have changed since the more hands on role of agents, it used to be agree terms with the club before agreeing terms with the player.

Agree0 Disagree6

{Ed025's Note - i think you are worrying about nothing craig..

05 Jun 2017 20:58:07
I'm not worrying ed, too much going on in the world to worry about a football transfer, just think that this way of dealing with things is little back to front.

Agree1 Disagree3

{Ed025's Note - its just the way it is mate..

05 Jun 2017 21:10:02
Once terms have been agreed with the player then that is the agents job done. Usually the player comes first as usually the player will decide where he wants to move to.

City probably have offered more in wages, does not mean VVD will move to them even if they had to offer a bigger fee to Soton.

VVD can reject City meaning Soton will still be rolling in the cash irrespective if he moves to LFC.

Agree2 Disagree1

06 Jun 2017 08:00:27
Correct me if wrong but the reports i've seen make it clear that the contact has been with agents, which is allowed and the only player involvement seems to be VVD stating his preferences?

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jun 2017 20:30:05
I can see us lining up somewhat similar to chelsea next year with a back 3 of vvd, lovren and matip. Does anybody else see a future for moreno as a wingback? No? Thought not.

Believable4 Unbelievable9

05 Jun 2017 20:41:53
Assuming Lovren stays. He seemed pretty miffed when a reporter tried to ask him what he thought about VVD.

Agree8 Disagree1

05 Jun 2017 20:42:52
Final delivery isn't good enough.

Agree2 Disagree1

05 Jun 2017 20:42:56
Nor Milner or Clyne if I'm honest.

Agree5 Disagree0

05 Jun 2017 20:44:18
Klopp will probably trial using a back three in pre season but keep Milner and Clyne for now in case it doesn't work. If it works well then we won't need to sign any new full back in Klopp's view. Wing backs of Wini and Milner maybe? Hendo in midfield with Couts then a front three of Firmino, Salah and Mane. The wing backs one I'm struggling on though.

Agree3 Disagree7

05 Jun 2017 21:45:41
TAA for rwb and Mendy lwb would be pretty good.

In fact any line up with Mendy at LB is a win.

Agree5 Disagree0

06 Jun 2017 08:02:47
As an attacking player Moreno is decent. The problems are he isn't defensively aware and although he has bags of pace he insists on making the kind of rash diving in challenges that a slow player would make. We've been lucky so far that he hasn't picked up a few red cards but honestly I think that is luck not because he hasn't deserved them.

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Jun 2017 17:42:40
Hey Eds, as it appears the transfer window is in full swing without it being officially open. With all the great business being done by the club, is there another striker incoming besides Solanke. Is Malcolm, Morega, and Lacazette still an option or have we moved on to other targets. Also is a Midfielder still a priority at this point?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - If Salah arrives the club has no need for Malcom. Moussa Marega is no longer an option. I don't see Lacazette as an option for Liverpool - he wanted Atletico and now two clubs are talking with Lyon about a deal.}

05 Jun 2017 19:54:53
Love you Ed002. I knew the Lacazette link was bogus. ;)
Can you tell me if the Demarai Gray stuff is legit?
Thanks a million a always.

Agree2 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool are among the clubs to show an interest in Demarai Gray.}

05 Jun 2017 20:02:18
It's a shock to see Lacazette go somewhere else considering Atletico were the "club of his heart".

Agree1 Disagree3

05 Jun 2017 20:30:50
Hi Ed002,

Guess you must be really busy now, hope things get easier soon.

Thus many apologies for taking up your time by asking if you might reveal who the two clubs are that are talking to Lyon about a deal for Lacaette.

Any info much appreciated as always.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Arsenal and Dortmund.}

05 Jun 2017 20:44:13
Tristan, not really a surprise considering Atletico are banned from making transfers.

06 Jun 2017 08:04:36
Eds is Solanke ready for a regular role next season or viewed as one to develop?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - develop definitely.}

05 Jun 2017 19:19:07
Hi ED's let me start of by saying I love all the hard work you ED's do for us love it love it love it.

Just one question can you see us singing both VVD and Salah?

Thanks again for all hard you all ae doing.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

{Ed025's Note - it looks very likely mate..

05 Jun 2017 20:11:07
What happened to 30%?

Agree1 Disagree3

{Ed025's Note - at the time city looked favourite davey but as we all know things can change very quickly mate..

05 Jun 2017 15:28:03
Hi Eds, does anyone know of any alternatives to Keita we're looking at?

And do you expect the club to still look at someone like Luan even with Salah joining?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - (a) Not since Kessie. (b) And Solanke.}

05 Jun 2017 19:18:57
I expect Klopp to go back in for Paredes!

Agree3 Disagree0

05 Jun 2017 19:40:35
Solanke took his goal well today. Looks a shrewd bit of business.

Agree3 Disagree1

{Ed025's Note - i dont know if you seen the game FMS but he was not all that mate, not that calvert lewin was any better when he came on, their goalie was awful for his goal and he missed a couple of sitters, hes only young though and has time to improve..

05 Jun 2017 15:04:12
Ed002 the independent reported this morning that Liverpool want to sign timo werner from rbl. Is there any truth in this? Thanks.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - RBL's Timo Werner was of interest to Spurs before he left Stuttgart but that interest seems to have gone. Scouts from Chelsea and Liverpool attended a game in December where Werner scored against Hertha Berlin and in January Liverpool and Dortmund scouts watched him score against Eintracht Frankfurt. Given he only joined RBL last summer and his season is going well with Leipzig more than likely being in the Champions League next season, RBL will not be looking to sell and I doubt he will be looking for a move.}

05 Jun 2017 20:07:33
Hasn't he publicly said he will stay at least another season at RB. Let's hope it ain't the case with keita.

Agree3 Disagree0

05 Jun 2017 13:34:49
Any idea if reports of Liverpool's interest in Santiago Arias are true please, Eds? Possible alternative to Pereira?
Thanks a million.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - Santiago Arias has attracted interest from Swansea and West Ham after the previous interest of Chelsea and Manchester United waned. I am n ot aware of any approach by Liverpool.}

05 Jun 2017 09:26:09
love the work guys!
Could ed001 or ed002 please highlight what are the latest if any developments have come out about with Benjamin mendy?
Also in addition to the above, Mbappe aside, who would u say has the biggest wraps coming out of that Monaco side, seems as though Monaco have done really well putting a great young side together.
Cheers lads.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - No one has made an acceptable bid for Mendy who has a very high price attached to him. So nothing has changed. I have no idea what "wraps" are.}

05 Jun 2017 19:32:15
So much then for reports about him going to City being a "done deal".
That said, I don't see that we gon pull this one off.

And Ed002, what's the present situation between Van Dijk and LFC from your own knowledge?

Thanks.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - The asking price for van Dijk is beyond what other clubs value him at - Manchester City may just be stupid enough to pay it and perhaps Liverpool are desperate enough to pay it.}

05 Jun 2017 19:48:33
Let me educate you Ed002.

You may think wraps could be something to do with the seedy narcotics trade. Think again.

"Wraps" is in fact a way to measure the distance you want to fish when angling for Carp. A very short and basic explanation Ed002

😎😎.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Thanks Nicky.}

05 Jun 2017 21:16:17
So to translate "who would you say has the biggest way to measure the distance you want to fish when angling for carp coming out of that Monaco side".

Thanks for clarifying, Nicky :)

Agree2 Disagree0

05 Jun 2017 21:49:03
Ed002, haven't you ever had wraps before usually with lettuce, chicken and sauce tightly surrounded by a tortilla? The person could also mean quick wraps on the knuckles as a school child.

But your guess is as good as mine. Happy Monday.

Agree2 Disagree0

05 Jun 2017 18:17:46
Anyone claiming they don't want Salah because of Afcon are using that as an excuse because they're not really excited about him signing.

I guarantee you nobody would be putting this argument forward if we signed aubameyang.

Believable18 Unbelievable1

05 Jun 2017 18:37:02
The AFCON is years away and we have time to work on that eventuality. Fact is we will have two VERY rapid skilful goal scoring wingers!

Agree13 Disagree0

05 Jun 2017 18:44:21
Nah, the same boo boys would use that argument against any African player. Most of us know it's a weak argument though.

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Jun 2017 19:07:22
Going into january with potential semi finals (carling cup), fa cup and premierleague. Without argubably two of your better players is a worry.

But its a ling way off.

Agree4 Disagree4

05 Jun 2017 19:41:56
Plenty more of time to prepare for it.

Agree2 Disagree0

05 Jun 2017 19:44:44
Afcon won't be for another year and a half a lot of the youngsters (Ojo, Wilson, woodburn, ) will be hopefully first team ready by then, plus another two transfer windows on top of that. No need to panic just yet.

Agree3 Disagree0

05 Jun 2017 18:13:36
Providing VVD and Salah go through as now expected ( Thanks Sir Macca-lot ) then I'm already pretty happy with the transfer business.

Got loads of mates saying Lacazette next. I'm not one to be greedy though. That would be too much to ask wouldn't it?

Believable8 Unbelievable1

05 Jun 2017 18:23:56
Yes, I think it would pooper.

Agree7 Disagree0

05 Jun 2017 18:37:46
VVD, Salah and Lacazette is some pretty serious dealings.

Agree9 Disagree1

05 Jun 2017 18:40:26
If Lacazette came thru the door aswell. Dreamland to say the least lol.

Agree9 Disagree0

05 Jun 2017 18:47:37
I don't. we will be needing another striker especially if Studge moves on. Their have been a few noises of offers for Origi. Will Ings be injury free next season (i really really hope so he has some doubters to shut up) . If we have money to spend we also have players to sell to generate funds. If we do need to sign a striker it has to be one better than what's there already. I would like Lacazette but I suppose I'll be happy with whoever Klopp thinks is best.

Wouldn't be too suprised to see one of our current CBs to leave now. With Salah most likely get Keita in and a LB in and I'm happy depending on departures of course.

Eds can you see any surprise departures?

Agree4 Disagree2

05 Jun 2017 18:29:36
I think with Salah we won't need a striker, wingers can be Salah mane and coutinho if needed, strikers we still have firmino sturridge and origi. Focus all our attention on full backs, at least 2, one for each side. Then if we have money and time left go for someone like keita in cm.
For me hendo lallana can wijnaldum and coutinho for the middle is enough, with Lucas and gruijic maybe to come in if needed.
Big games can be hendo lallana couts, mane firmino Salah, then bring in a striker for the lesser games. Of course wijnaldum and emre can rotate. Still got Ings that may come back, and solanke to get minutes, so unless Danny goes, I don't see a move being made.

Agree4 Disagree0

05 Jun 2017 19:15:33
Fency

Some of the names you mention will be off this window mate. Lucas is certain to move and if we are in for Paredes, Hendo will move out next summer.

Agree1 Disagree1

05 Jun 2017 18:09:57
This could be the season where Liverpool smash the budget into pieces to once and for all get back to the top.

Scary stuff but if that is what the club is planning on doing then us fans will just go with the flow.

I just wonder who the club tends on seeing going as the figures we are about to spend will have to see more than one current players on their way. Let's hope it ain't Coutinho.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

05 Jun 2017 18:40:22
I'm not concerned with the earlier fees at all as the game has somewhat changed, not just for us but the Premier League. The influx of TV money in the premier league, on top of the additional revenue we will provided by the Champions League (if we qualify) has me fairly chill about this issue. Don't think the club would also sign a CB and LW to cope with the departure of PC and we've been surprisingly quiet this summer with regards to 'Number 10' rumours.

Agree1 Disagree1

05 Jun 2017 18:50:22
Likely to be: Sakho, Lucas, Stewart, Markovich, Moreno.

Personally also wouldn't be overly surprised by any one (s) of: Sturridge, Ojo, Ward, Ings, Klavan, Gomez, Milner, Coutinho (😩)

Agree5 Disagree1

05 Jun 2017 19:09:23
Say with the likely there puzzled would raise £50 million to pay VVDs fee and the saving of wages. I'd like to see Ward, Gomez and Ings loaned out for fitness and experience. I'd like Sturridge and Couts stay. I do like Milner and he should stay as a good squad player but I think he will want 1st team action so may leave.

Agree3 Disagree0

05 Jun 2017 19:10:46
I do not believe many understand how club finaces work. We earned massively the previous seasons from TV revenue and still Liverpool ended up making a significant loss in the last financials.

The new training facility will have to see Liverpool making up the numbers financially elsewhere. Increasing the wage bill considerably with the arrivals of VVD and Salah will punish the club.

You do understand that the wage bill makes up majority of Liverpool's spend each season? Therefore adding over £300k a week to our current wage bill 3rd highest in the League will have to see some of the current crop leave.

Transfer fees not the main issue as they get paid over a period, not in one go.

Lallana, Firmino, Mane and Gini can all play number ten. Even Salah.

Agree2 Disagree3

05 Jun 2017 18:55:10
lucas
Gomez loan
Sakho
Origi maybe in January
Clyne
Wilson loan
Stewart
Markovic
Moreno

Should be around £100m. So if all goes to plan we might still get a left back and one other. Happy days.

Agree0 Disagree3

05 Jun 2017 19:30:41
Mark, it does not matter what we will be selling players for. The transfer fees we receive will not be paid in one go to us. We are probably some way off before Bournemouth finish paying for Ibe. Just like Suarez was only paid up by Barcelona this past season.

Our wage bill though is something which sees the club accounts with an exit of funds every week. Add VVD and Salah to the current bill, you can be rest assured that there will have to be quite a few exits in the summer, especially if we are planning on adding more players.

Agree1 Disagree2

05 Jun 2017 18:06:05

Keep the hard work guys, thank you.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - im not sure to be honest adrian..

05 Jun 2017 18:21:04
Agreements have been reached between both players and Liverpool. Now it is probably about how the repayments will be made to both their clubs for the transfer fees.

Liverpool may have to bite the bullet on both deals and fork out quite a large sum upfront for both players so negotiations between the clubs will probably continue for quite a bit.

Let's hope all goes well.

Agree0 Disagree1

05 Jun 2017 18:20:16
Nothing to be worried about with Salah is there ed? Formalities?

Agree2 Disagree0

05 Jun 2017 18:13:17
Can you announce transfers before the window opens July 1st?

Agree2 Disagree1

05 Jun 2017 19:13:00
Yes Mane you can. We announced Solanke did we not?

Agree2 Disagree0

05 Jun 2017 17:49:56
According to Graeme Kelly, the man who has been committed in his belief that Van Dijk would join us, all the way back to January, believes he knows the transfer structure of the deal.

Apparently, Van Dijk will cost £44 million and 8 million add ons (The add on being that we win the Premier League)

Not sure how true this is, but for me, the deal sounds like it is good for all parties. I still think 50 million plus for a centre back is over the top, but to buy quality sometimes you have to overspend. Hopefully he can shut me down and humiliate me by putting in some good performances.

Also, I think Joe Gomez's time at Liverpool is done. With Van Dijk starting, and hell, even Klavan ahead of him in the pecking order, Joe will have no choice but to leave to pursue first team football. A shame because I think the boy could be something special, if given time. I really hope he leaves on a loan but, with the money spent, and interest in him, I think the move will be permanent.

Believable6 Unbelievable0

05 Jun 2017 18:06:43
Man I hope to god we end up paying £52 million for Dick Van Dyke!

Agree3 Disagree1

05 Jun 2017 18:07:17
Think we'll loan Joe out from what the Ed's have said. Hopefully he has a good spell somewhere, comes back next summer and we sell Klavan.

Agree3 Disagree0

05 Jun 2017 18:07:41
Both Sakho and Gomez will bring us some serious cash.

Agree1 Disagree4

05 Jun 2017 18:18:08
If those figures are reasonably close then I think it's a brilliant deal. Expensive but so much better than what we already have and with scope for improvement at his age. Considering we should get a decent amount if we sell sakho and considering stones went for 50m last year,50 odd million seems par for the course for a good player in this summers market.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jun 2017 18:23:15
Could klopp be thinking of using Gomes at either full back position? I'm sure he played RB for one of the England squads? Scored a beauty from there as well I seem to remember.

Just wanted to find out if at any point Klopp considered Douglas costa as an option. In my opinion he has all the attributes to become a top class player. Not sure about his attitude though. Cheers guys.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - welcome aboard mate, he was linked at one time but as far as i know thats all it was..

05 Jun 2017 17:40:27
Costa was linked with us the same summer that the Firmino rumours had started. I guess it was because Rodgers had signed Benteke, and people assumed we needed wingers to support him (and correctly, so) . Rodgers bought Firmino and then sat him on the bench after a couple of games.

05 Jun 2017 17:31:26
I read somewhere that Dolberg was staying at Ajax, but if he comes in then it's goodbye to Origi. If Lacazette comes in then it's goodbye to Sturridge. Why o why are we not trying as hard for the LB/ RB positions? I don't get it. There's such a drop off in quality between what we're going for in CB, Midfielders and Striker (VVD, Keita and Lacazette) and what is being rumoured for the LB/ RB positions. It only points to us playing with a back 3.

Grey would be an awful signing, not ready for us whatsoever. If you have watched him enough times for leicester you would realise he's got lot of work to do to become a top player. No end product and his final ball is awful. Hardly starts for Leicester.

Agree17 Disagree0

05 Jun 2017 15:23:07
Why do people keep asking this?
You mean AFCON 2019? The one that is 18 months away?
By a rough estimation I'd say he could play 100 games for us between now and then and hopefully score 100 goals. So you really think we shouldn't sign him just because he will go play for Egypt for a few weeks in 18 months time? Makes No sense? Weird.

Agree12 Disagree0

05 Jun 2017 15:19:12
So now we shouldn't be buying players from an entire continent because we'll lose them for a month or less every two years?

05 Jun 2017 15:32:57
Ynwa1 if you are basing your signing of players based on the Afcon then you will be missing out on a lot of players. Didn't hear City nor Chelsea complaining whenever they lost Drogba and Yaya to the Afcon so why is it a problem now? You get players in to ensure cover and move on.

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Jun 2017 15:39:11

on the afcon note tell them to move the competition coz YNWA1 won't allow us to sign african players if they dont.

Agree0 Disagree0

Potentially we could just build a ghost academy. A bit of hard work off the pitch and I'm sure we could turn the ghosts into real actual matter (they do still need to be able to kick a ball around, otherwise it's just silly), but still keep them free of injury - I mean, who's ever heard of a ghost suffering from dancer's hip? Make sure they're not african and all future problems are solved.

Besides, all humans, even footballers I'm sure, are afraid of ghosts! Anyone would flee in fear before even entering the pitch. Total world domination is right at our feet - what's stopping us?

Just heard - Liverpool are plotting another Chelsea raid, with Nathan Ake being considered as a long-term solution to the left-back problem.

Believable6 Unbelievable7

05 Jun 2017 14:58:43
I'd doubt they'd let another highly regarded prospect go to a competitor, but from what I've seen of him, he'd be a great addition due to his versatility.

What's his preferred position? Is it DM, CB or FB? Haven't seen enough of him to know.

Agree4 Disagree0

05 Jun 2017 15:01:40
He has the same agent as our Captain.

Although I can't see Chelsea wanting to sell as he looks like he will be a very good player for them.

If we are looking to "raid" Chelsea for a young fullback it's more likely to be Ola Aina as Ed002 has previously said we may be interested.

But he is a RB and would likely want some guarantees on playing time that we would be unlikely (and foolish) to give him.

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Jun 2017 15:03:39
Chelsea will not sell him. No chance.

Brilliant news - a top CB to compete with Lovren and Matip is a big big step forward IMO and we now have a PL/ CL standard CB setup with some depth in case of injury.

Next major priority IMO is left back with Milner hopefully moved to RB where he will be even more effective with his crossing ability. then hopefully Salah and I'm very happy man indeed. Please someone like Pereira or Mendy or Gaya. needs a real top player to finally fix the position rather than a hopeful like Robertson (although admittedly I'm not the best placed to comment on Robertson) .

Hi Eds, I've been browsing around for transfer links and one name keeps popping up which hasn't been covered recently on the boards (not unless its been misspelled as the last post per the search was last summer) .

Mattia de Sciglio.

I've been a big fan of his for a while, and his name does crop up hear ever year. Like Pereira he's a RB who can also play LB, so offers that utility.

The Echo has him listed as a potential for us. Have you heard of any rumours about us having him watched or approaching Milan or his representatives?

Thanks

Z.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - not a thing, be unlikely a newly minted side like Milan would let their better players leave.}

De Sciglio has actually sorta regressed in the past few years. One of my best buds is a die hard Milan fan, and he says that De Sciglio has fallen behind some of their younger talents, and could be headed to Juve to bolster their rotation ranks.

Hi Eds,

Any news on possible outgoings? I've heard of interest in Markovic from Watford. Any possibility of Sakho being used as a makeweight for Van Dijk?

Thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed001's Note - Southampton are unlikely to want Sakho, they have shown no interest in him.}

05 Jun 2017 11:09:44
Eds has any interest been shown in Origi? Personally I think we should send him out on loan if the option became available. Could become a fantastic player but he won't while he's on the bench for us.

Believable0 Unbelievable4

{Ed025's Note - not as far as i am aware mate, i think you are over indulgent with your assessment of him though as for me he is mediocre..

05 Jun 2017 11:20:12
I have to agree with Ed025's assessment there. I found Origi to be really disappointing towards the end of last season. He's got great physical attributes but lacks intelligence, his movement off the ball is poor, I found when he gets the ball he takes too many touches and takes all the momentum out of our attacks.

Agree5 Disagree5

05 Jun 2017 11:20:54
He is mediocre. I agree. Hence why I said "could" become a fantastic player. Which I think he could. He has the physical attributes but his game intelligence is quite poor.

Agree2 Disagree3

{Ed025's Note - fair enough mate..

05 Jun 2017 11:24:41
I don't know, we've seen how loans are going for most of our players. I'd argue training at Liverpool and playing 25/ 30 games a season is better experience for him. If the coach who's loaned him decides he doesn't rate him 10 games in, he'll have a much worse time of it. Another coach has no investment in his development.

I'd argue the only time a loan is worthwhile is when the player is going to start every week, putting them into someone's squad to rotate with isn't any better than rotating with us.

Agree2 Disagree0

05 Jun 2017 11:26:35
He is mediocre I agree. Hence why i said he "could" become a fantastic player. Has all the attributes to do so but lacks game intelligence right now. And that won't improve much from the bench.

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed025's Note - fair enough mate

05 Jun 2017 11:40:56
He is no mediocre. He is decent but not anything spectacular. He has got plenty of chances ahead of Sturridge and should have made his position his own by now. He could also end up like Wellbeck. If the club is after another striker that clearly means Klopp doesn't want to rely on him or any other striker to lead the line!

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed025's Note - yes decent= nothing spectacular= mediocre..

05 Jun 2017 11:59:33
Agree with the ed on this one, and I really don't see how a player labelled as "mediocre" can also have the potential of becoming a "fantastic player".

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jun 2017 12:11:02
I thought his goal against Everton was well taken with good movement, the poor lad has not really had a chance at Liverpool - when he has come in he usually has done well, he has proved to be a better LFC player than the likes of Cisse, Diouf, Morientes, Ngog and Keane - he is still only 22 and is a 1 in 3 goal conversion rate and probably happy to be part of the squad - we cannot have 25 superstars. If we keep Sturridge and get another forward we will players like Origi and Ings to be happy as squad players.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - you cant dine out for ever on scoring against everton though mate..

05 Jun 2017 12:35:28
Adam it's quite simple. As a player progresses he can go from poor, to mediocre, to good, to very good, to excellent. Right now Origi is mediocre. With improvements he will go to good and with a lot of improvements he could potentially be great.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - and then theres the silk purse and sows ear theory mate..

05 Jun 2017 12:47:46
He could be a good bench option but really don't see him being a really good, 20 a season (or thereabouts) level of player. He still needs to develop but equally it is misleading to say not given a chance, he has had a lot of game time but he isn't ready yet to be the main attacking option.

Agree0 Disagree1

05 Jun 2017 12:48:44
Genuinely can't make up my mind if Origi is going to be brilliant or the next Carlton cole!

Hi Ed's?

Have we shown any interest in Toby Alderweireld?
In April there were reports saying that he was stalling on a contract because he wanted similar wages with Kane (reportedly £110k/ week)
He's as good (if not better) as Van Dijk.

Believable2 Unbelievable4

{Ed001's Note - it doesn't matter, he is looking for a new contract, not a move, right now.}
