Hi Eds, sorry if this is old news, but I was wondering if any club came in for Flanagan? I know you were all pretty sure his time was done, but is there any firm interest?

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Nope.}

05 Jul 2017 23:25:03
Thanks for the response.

{Ed002's Note - A decision will need to be made whilst the transfer window is open.}

We should try him out in place of Clyne during pre-season to see if he can replace him. If not, then he should be sold. Be nice to see an academy product in the team.

Agree6 Disagree0

06 Jul 2017 12:14:53
johnny i think we will have TAA as the rotationplayer for clyne/ milner.

Flanagan looked promising a few years back but injurys set him back a few times and i don't think he will be even second choice anymore.

On todays market we could get around 5-7 mio for him and if we get an offer we should take it.

Agree1 Disagree1

06 Jul 2017 13:40:52
Flano is not a crosser of the ball and this is what Klopp needs in the modern wingback. I'm afraid his time is up. Unless he wants to keep him as backup which is doubtful, since we already have a much more capable and promising youngster in place.

In march or May we have been linked with James Rodriguez. Is there still interest?

I have read that PSG still wants Coutinho and they have met with his representatives (i guess that means agent) and James could be a good alternative if Coutinho really leaves.

Believable0 Unbelievable18

{Ed001's Note - there never was interest in James.}

Thank God there wasn't.

{Ed001's Note - I have no idea what you are talking about.}

05 Jul 2017 16:48:10
"Are we interested in any from Inter Milan? ". Any what exactly? Players? Managers? Cheerleaders? . Some of the questions the Ed's have to go through are mind-boggling at times.

It was Ed002 who had a female contact, who apparently went off to do some deeds in Milan this morning. The original question was about the rumour around Mammana. Quote to his last reply.

{Ed002's Note - She is in Milan - she will call when she has concluded what she is doing there or when she gets where she is going next (France or London) . I will ask when she calls. }.

Coutinho won't be leaving in either this window or the next.

As for James, he would be interested in us but far as I am aware LFC have made no enquiries.

Henrique Dalbert has also been considered as a left back option

Leech.

Believable3 Unbelievable2

05 Jul 2017 12:39:42
Would be a quality addition as he's pacey, likes to get forward and is left footed. Milner constantly cutting in on his right last season slowed so many of our attacks down I think its vital get a decent left back who can attack but also defend (Moreno's major weakness) .

Unfortunately I think we're looking to spend a large portion of our money elsewhere. I think if VVD falls through and we go for a cheaper option (Mammana) then a more expensive alternative to Robertson as left back is definitely viable.

Agree14 Disagree1

05 Jul 2017 12:51:19
Dalbert Enrique is off to Inter but Nice still have to agree a fee with the Italians.

Agree2 Disagree1

05 Jul 2017 12:36:22
I asked about him on the European pages about a week ago. I said I couldn't believe we hadn't been linked with him yet. Don't get your hopes up, Inter have bid and another. I don't know which club Ed002 was alluding to yesterday when he said about two clubs have bid though, maybe Juve as a replacement for Sandro but they had a preferred option at the time. He's rapid, athletic and I certainly wouldn't mind him joining our Brazilian contingent but we haven't looked.

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Jul 2017 13:22:21
You say we haven't looked Barnesy but this is the problem, why aren't we looking at players like Dalbert who is so much more of a natural fit for our side than Robertson? If better players are available we shouldn't be penny pinching, I can't imagine there'll be a particularly big price difference between the two either.

Agree2 Disagree1

05 Jul 2017 14:00:12
We could have gotten both Ricardo Pereira and Dalbert form Niece and our FB positions would have been sorted for way less than 70m BUT alas, we are going to sign Robertson and keep Clyne. Go figure.

05 Jul 2017 14:01:28

Have to keep an eye on the homegrown quota aswell. Think we'll have to get either homegrown LB or CD.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jul 2017 19:52:02
He looks like a bullet train. Pacy and a decent left foot. As I mentioned previously how can the club have only a couple options for LB is beyond me!

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Jul 2017 19:56:34
Spot on Brussels. Two realistic options under a combined £40 mill!

Agree2 Disagree0

05 Jul 2017 20:34:18
Clyne can improve. If his final ball were better he would be one of best fbs in the country. Good point made that if we don't sign van dyke then we will have more to spend on fbs. I've always suspected we will sign Robertson and on deadline day swoop for gael clichy.

Agree1 Disagree5

05 Jul 2017 22:40:43
Clyne would also want to learn to defend and stop drifting off in games, sad state of affairs is that those 2 issues still don't stop him being one of the better fbs in premier league. Defending would appear to be an optional extra these days, one that most don't bother with.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jul 2017 00:15:29
Milner performed better on his wrong foot in a position he wasn't comfortable in. If we get a decent left back, then Milner should go to right back, TAA promoted and Clyne allowed to move on.

Agree2 Disagree1

06 Jul 2017 11:47:00
Dalbert looks a very good wee player. I totally agree that he would be a great signing. If he fancies us I think we should make him out top target in that position. Easily on sessegnon level and better than other lbs who have been linked with with the exception of mendy. I reckon Dalbert will improve with time too.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jul 2017 11:47:15
@Hansen Who should be backup at LB then?

Good morning eds/ all.

Just wondering what the deal is with Ojo, does Klopp see him as a talent? can we expect him to go out on loan for the season or can you see him been given more of a chance with us?

I think the lad is a real talent and can be the real deal, I'd love to see more of him but I feel the best for him this season might be a loan with another premier league team if possible?

Thank you.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - He didn't get a chance last season and if he is not going to this season a loan would be best. Newcastle are interested but I would think nothing will happen until the pre-season is over.}

05 Jul 2017 10:23:23
I doubt there will be any loan out goings until pretty season has ended. That includes gomez ojo Wilson etc.

Agree3 Disagree1

05 Jul 2017 10:25:41
Thanks ed2.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jul 2017 11:38:13
Ojo picked up an injury to his back and was only back in training towards the tail end of the season when the team was pushing hard for 4th place and he wasn't match fit. I'd agree that a loan would be best if he wasn't to get any game time next season and it would be perhaps smart if a Premier League club are interested to help with his recovery.

Agree10 Disagree0

05 Jul 2017 13:33:27
Slight misconception of the truth there, StraightTalk (how ironic) . Ojo was fit from November 2016. He didn't play in the first team due to a combination of 2 things; firstly he isn't as good as Woodburn or Wilson who did get opportunities through the hectic parts of our schedule, and secondly he was left in the u23's to regain form after his injury.

He wasn't injured even close to the whole season though, and he certainly wasn't left out due to a lack of trust from Klopp in youth players when stakes are high. Otherwise Woodburn and Arnold wouldn't have played so many minutes last year.

Agree2 Disagree9

06 Jul 2017 08:21:37
I would not say he is not as good but he has struggled to regain form, he needs to eat less as he looked heavy most of the season. He is certainly talented and i can't believe we did not let rafa take him on loan as it would have done him the world of good. don't see the point in having talented players stagnate in the u23 when they could be getting valuable competitive games in the prem. Same goes for gomez for me, no point keeping them just because you want to rest a few first teamers for cup games while their careers and talent stall. We did the same to suso and look how he has flurished from getting minutes on the pitch.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jul 2017 13:49:41
Allegedly, past disciplinary issues may become an obstacle for him. I'm not sure what the deal is between him and the manager right now, but I was told that he was seriously reprimanded last season for a number of outbursts towards the manager, displayed a lack of tactical discipline and allegedly has said and done few other things that should remain private. All I know is the club values his potential.

Just wondered if her plane had landed as of yet please? 🤔 no worries if you don't no yet mate? Im trying hard these days not to ask to many questions lol.

But as you can appreciate I am an impatient Liverpool fan and with the window now open a few days im shocked we have only signed 2 players 😂😂.

Anything else you can advise us please in terms of developments in any area in or out of the club?

Thanks in advance.

Mammana 16 mil VVD 70 mil. Now that is a no brainer. There seems to be a lack of leadership though and I'm not sure the youngster is going to solve that problem. Then again would VVD solve it? Lovren just needs to grab it by the scruff of the neck and lead the line. Last season it really seemed matip was the one in charge. What a fantastic signing he was.

Thanks for your great work.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - I never said I believed he would sign, just that he is the most likely right now. There are a number of other clubs interested in him who might jump in and get him.}

05 Jul 2017 06:04:30
With Robertson is LFC upgrading defence or downgrading its defence?
He is not going to improve.

Agree13 Disagree11

05 Jul 2017 10:27:49
Hope some other Club signs him. He is a downgrade on Moreno.

Agree2 Disagree3

{Ed025's Note - is there such a thing as a downgrade on moreno?..

05 Jul 2017 10:40:12
Just having a natural LB in place will be an upgrade on Milner, I'm not slagging Milner off, he's done an amicable job, but not being left footed has hindered us in terms of playing out from the back and in slowing down or killing our attacks due to having to cut back onto his right foot.
He was targeted by the opposition as a weak link in our defence so that should scream out that we need someone better.
Robertson is an ok defender, definitely better than Milner, and is a good attacking threat, definitely better than Milner (in the LB position) .
Are there better players than Robertson out there, yes probably, who they are and if they are available are two different subjects.
Just remember two years ago most were saying they wanted Moreno over Bertrand, now I think it's safe to say we would all take Bertrand now in a heartbeat!
Not all signings need to be £30-40m, Robertson could step up big-style and prove to be a cracking LB for us, or he could prove to be a disaster, who knows how it will go, but one thing I can guarantee you though is he will not reach the former without your support! So stop bitching and moaning and support the managers decisions and stop writing off players before they've even signed for us let alone kicked a ball for us!

Agree21 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - good post that scarface..

05 Jul 2017 11:04:57
Not being funny boys but take a look at JK's history with signing players Aubemeyang Lweendowski Hummel Subotic, Reus, And these are just a few to say the least and it is worth pointing out that Auba And lewendowski were not his first choice at the time but when he compiles a list of possible players he clearly thinks it out and if he thinks Robertson has something so let's just pile out trust in a man that let's be honest has a proven track record of signing players people were not sure on and making them world beaters if we sign Robertson then I'm sure he will be good enough to pull on a Liverpool shirt and help us win the league.

Agree9 Disagree0

05 Jul 2017 11:31:43
Personally I think Robertson could be konchesky with hair.

Agree3 Disagree7

05 Jul 2017 12:40:24
Robertson seems the type who will fight and will learn, most footballers who are bombed out from Celtic at a young age don't make it to the premier league do they? So he must have done something right.

Agree5 Disagree1

05 Jul 2017 13:23:20
Bigsqueeze did you ever see konchesky play no one can be as bad as him.

Agree2 Disagree0

05 Jul 2017 14:23:22
Reusch, unfortunately I did see him play in a Liverpool shirt and he was shocking. im sorry but we should be aiming much higher calibre players then Robertson. i would love pereira he is quality and can play both flanks but there are many left backs better than Robertson. surely Tymon from the same club would even be a better option although he is close to joining stoke. would love tierny (bad spelling possibly) but heard he doesn't want to leave, Mendy who apparently needs to lower wage demands, but at the moment regarding availability and price why not Bertrand. surely would cost £20 mill or below an proven premier quality and can defend and attack.

Agree0 Disagree1

05 Jul 2017 19:13:31
Of course he will improve. He's coming from a fairly small club who punch above their weight. At melwood with klopp and the guys and our pure class set up. He is young and will be playing for a champions league team. Reckon he is worried we will sign another left back as well as Robertson and he could end up playing second fiddle. Important time in his career. But do the lean already!

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jul 2017 14:00:19
Just look at the number of completed crosses on target last season from the wings and it tells the whole story, doesn't it? THe model Klopp implements demands more service from those areas. We have the right players up front but they don't get enough accurate crosses.
I miss Gerrard, Alonso, Riise, Bjornebye and even Finnan!

Rumours that MAMADOU SAKHO has agreed personal terms with Crystal Palace and only negotiations regard price are all that is stopping the deal from concluding.

Hope that this one gets over the line.

Believable11 Unbelievable5

05 Jul 2017 03:41:25
It seemed the incoming De Boer was not keen on paying anywhere near the asking price for Sakho. In this case even though he has permission to agree personal terms, it is a bit meaningless since Palace would never agree to our fee.

Agree5 Disagree1

05 Jul 2017 06:53:04
If we don't bring the 30m fee (how we think we can get that much for a fringe player boggles the mind) then he is going nowhere.

Agree1 Disagree9

05 Jul 2017 06:54:03
They were not ready to pay the asking price for Benteke initially. The player will express his desire to join them and I expect a deal to happen somewhere with possible Add ons!

Agree1 Disagree4

05 Jul 2017 07:00:14
Didn't this exact same thing happen with palace and be released last season. Palace said they wouldn't pay the price then eventually paid it.

Agree4 Disagree0

05 Jul 2017 08:43:12
Brussels red, fringe player? He's arguably our best defender and baffles me that we're willing or at least the fans are happy to spend 70m on VVD when all that is needed is an apology and klopp to swallow some pride. I for one would love to know the real reason why he's been frozen out of the side, it can't just be for a bad attitude and some joking antics can it?

Agree14 Disagree7

05 Jul 2017 09:05:07
he has stepped over the line several times. maybe Klopp does not feel he can control Sakho. if the boss cannot work with you, you are not going to have a job in any professional walk of life.

Agree9 Disagree0

05 Jul 2017 09:44:28
PEGLEG_ I tend to agree with you but all the reports seem to suggest it was just his continual breaking of rules like being late for meals, missing a rehab session, interrupting an interview, being late for the plane etc. None of them seem big things but he did not seem to learn. Very sad as with him we would not need VVD.

Agree1 Disagree1

05 Jul 2017 09:44:38
There is no "real reason". He does not do as he is told/ instructed. Like adding things to his diet that gets him banned. Simple as that. Move on.

Agree2 Disagree2

05 Jul 2017 10:23:18
Sakho is poor. Decent in a team that had to defend deep for the majority of games. Poor on the ball, injury prone and not good enough for Liverpool. I would see past it if he ever had 20 games plus consistent run in the team but he hasn't done that in 4 years. Also makes at least one glaring error a game.

Agree7 Disagree4

05 Jul 2017 10:54:07
Baffles me why people still support Sakho and think that Klopp should apologise to him!
If you continually break rules in your workplace, would your manager apologise to you or would you find yourself disciplined and eventually fired if you were stupid enough to continue to break the rules and do as you like after being warned!
Yes Sakho is a good defender and he seems like a likable fun guy, but don't let that overshadow his complete lack of professionalism and respect for the club, the manager and it's fans!
Why do you think it is only Palace showing any genuine interest in him? Why were PSG so desperate to get rid of him? Because he is a bloody nightmare to manage and a distraction to the rest of the players!

Agree11 Disagree0

05 Jul 2017 11:24:00
If people are expecting Klopp to apologize to Saake him back (after continuously being a jerk and disrespectful to his manager), then it says a lot about the moral compass of certain fans on here.

Peg, the reasons why he is being sent packing from LFC has been discussed at length over the past year so you can search them on here. Listen, I'm a Sahko fan and thought he would be great for us BUT there is no way on earth, he is our best defender or CB. That is just wrong. He has all the tools to be a great CB (he was capt. of France and Deschamps knows a good CB when he sees one) but his heading is poor, lacks concentration and sometimes his head goes when under pressure.

Also, he was in the team for three seasons where we shipped 150 goals in the PL so how he is our best CB/ defender, is a mystery to me. Playing in a CP team where they defend at the edge of their 6 yard box and he just sweeps up everything behind is something I could do.

I will take Matip over him any day even tho, he needs to improve in his physicality and his heading ability as well as grow a spine so as to take charge of situations when under pressure.

Agree2 Disagree1

05 Jul 2017 19:31:41
sahko is the player we are scouring Europe for. I used the word reconciliation. I would guess the players don't get on with him as he let the team down. dunno only guessing. He is far from a fringe player. Our best defender although I like matip and also think klavan can get better with confidence. Got the physicality to play like hypia. See ya brother from another mother.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jul 2017 19:44:35
Very true icon. It's a shame though eh? People do grow up and if he really wanted it I reckon he could prove himself to klopp. Obviously he isn't doing that and he's living on a massive wage for doing nada. The more I think about it, the more it makes me angry. The 30 mil price tag is more than fair and I'm sure someone will snap him up. Everton are loading up, I like sigurdsson who they're looking at apparently. Dreamers. They got done with that wee keeper. 30 mil! Has his name been mentioned at all by us? Sigurdsson I mean. I think I already asked you eds sorry dude. Cheers.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jul 2017 19:44:53
To be honest you are bang on there redroon. I too would liked to have seen him have a good run. CB needs to be disciplined. That what that position is all about and his lack of it is the reason for the glaring error every game. He can pass the ball though. Never understood why we sold Agger.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jul 2017 19:46:42
Another good post scarface. At first I was shouting that we should use sahko but the more I think about him on high wages doing nothing, it grinds on me. When you put like you did pal it is clear he has to go. I think 25/ 30 mil is a fair price these days and someone will snap him up. Think about his team mates (he doesn't) they may not like him as he has let them down time and again. Probably not a good place for him to be. Played well for palace though, very well. 4 yrs! Seems like he signed last yr. time fly eh.

This is a transfer I would love to see. Just had a little look at the lad and he looks the nuts. Cannot understand why Robertson is taking so long, the lad ain't going to get a better offer than liverpool. Get them both.
