I didn't know the owners played the euromillions!

Unlikely, there's no money to spend.

Even if there was much money available, you could rest assured that we would contrive to somehow mess the transfer up and the aforementioned players would end up somewhere else.

Yeah Mr Dennis. We'll find Shaquri goes on loan, minimal cost and move for Westwood or Kirkland over Neto, splash out on Origi just as Sturridge returns

We would end up paying £10m for Westwood even if Cech was available for less! That's how we roll.

Hello Ed's,
Writing a post after a long time, wish you and everyone else a very happy and bright new year.

Ed's my question to you is in your recent posts you have mentioned Inter Milan showing interest in Lucas.
Is there a possibility of Lucas- Mateo Kovacic swap here?

thanks

Hi eds, if we lose Lucas and Gerard over the summer, what's the long term plan in centre midfield? Can and Henderson would make sense and perhaps llalana or Coutinho in if we play three? Any idea what BR's plans are for Allen?

Thks

Believable11 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what the plans are for Allen but Liverpool have a lot of midfield players already. Much will depend on what happens management wise.}

A fairly well balanced midfield three would be Henderson, Lallana and Can, with a front three of Coutinho, Sterling and Sturridge.

Agree 100%, would like ideally to see a strong DM option (or keep Lucas) to sub in as required. Lucas, Can and Hendo would be a great defensive three while Can, Hendo and Llalana a great balanced/attacking midfield.

{Ed002's Note - Folks need to stop listing players/teams here otherwise the thread will be deleted.}

To the original post I can only hope Allen moves on. Watching many games this season, he lacks pace tracking back, lacks strength. For a passing possession player he seems to lose the ball often and I can't recall him making a forward pass over 6yrds? I also can't recall a single assist?

Seems like a nice bloke but purely football he is nowhere good enough. Wouldn't expect a fee of over £5m either, a complete waste of funds. Depending on how Balotelli turns out, Allen is for me our worst ever purchase

agreed! allen is a shocking player.

I still think the best midfield displays I've seen in Rodgers time were two games we lost last season- Man City and Chelsea over the festive period. Our midfield was Lucas, Allen & Henderson. Those three completely shut down City & Chelsea's midfield with the combined pressing of Henderson & Allen and Lucas sitting behind and reading the game.

Hi guys, I work for a football stats company and can tell you that Allen has both a deceptively high pass completion rate for a midfielder over the last two seasons (87.09%), and also has won more duels than Gerrard. He gets bashed more than he should

Eds

With the fact we are trying to get Origi early in January, can we say that the reports of Behrinio(spelling) and Shaqiri are nothing more than just rumours?

{Ed001's Note - yes.}

Lille owner Jean-Michel Vandamme has said that Divock Origi will not be joining Liverpool this month and will stay with them until the summer.

Why woukd he of said this Ed please as it looks like he is coming in January after all?

Believable6 Unbelievable5

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool has not yet made an acceptable offer.}

He should be allowed to stay at Lille until the end of the season, bringing him in now will hamper his development by putting unfair and unrealistic expectations upon him.

05 Jan 2015 15:23:32
Agreed. He hasn't done well, maybe his heart is no longer at Lille? But the expectation is high like we've signed another Sturridge. Good player, based on WC and £10m looks great still. But to pay another £4m with the season he's currently having is stupid.
Happy to wait and let him arrive preseason under less of a microscope

Better origi arrives mow, that's gives him a good few months to settle in new home, meet his team mates and get use to what the manager wants from him, most our new signings have struggled up until last few weeks, so origi will need that time, so he'll be ready come august! Makes sense like imo

Lille director Jean-Michel Vandamme has told Sky Sports Italia reporter Guglielmo Cannavale that Liverpool would need to pay in the region of €6m to get Origi this month but Liverpool are offering half that, and he believes that a deal is unlikely to be struck.

Save the money, not worth it .i think we've payed over the odd already .not a proven player yet £10 million a lot add the £6 million on you could get a proven striker for that
