I think its far to early to start thinkin or should i say trying to guess who we are gonna buy in the summer. Its only february and the transfer window is 5 months, , yes that's 5 MONTHS away. Why can't you all just get behind and give ur full support to the team we are fielding now instead of bitch slappin em down like a bunch of girls. Oh and i realy cannot see us shipping out 11 players and bringing 8 in. I kno its a rumour page but try and stay in touch with reality.

Liverpool r looking for an 8 m deal with Newcastle for tiote, kenny wants him as the new enforcer, also kenny looking and James mcarthy of Wigan as a diff option to Adam in summer, 9 m will get him. Also expect aquiline + 5 m for klasnic to be accepted. And finally Liverpool will look at lkjaer for 20 m to set up a partnership with countryman agger. Way do you think of these targets eds? {ed's note - is that what you want to happen or what you have really heard?}

Liverpool have pricked the ears up , on the news about Pavlyuchenko wanting out!

05 Feb 2011 22:47:27
Hey Eds,
just wondered what are the prospects of us signing mertesacker? I know its early to be thinking about that but we were linked heavily with him early on in the jan transfer window. Please respond. {ed's note - he is slower than Kyrgiakos, I really hope we will be looking at better.}

05 Feb 2011 22:46:58
Hey ed's, when are the bel and unbel buttons coming back? {ed's note - as soon as possible.}

05 Feb 2011 20:23:32
Quick question for Ed. .
Would it be possible to agree a deal in principal for (say for instance) Eden Hazard right now, agree fee and wages. (Obviously the deal can't be completed until the window reopens.) would it affect the fair play regulations because we have agreed the deal before the rules has become active? {ed's note - deals can be agreed and paid for but registrations can only be transferred when the window is open.}

I'll post the instructions for Google Chrome (so you can watch the match) around lunchtime tomorrow.

Or search the archives using my name.

(dear ed's, if possible shove it in rumour and banter so no one misses it. I was even thinking perhaps a button on the side bar with the instructions on)

I have a close friend who works as a fitness coach at the Cantera for Real Madrid who told me that we'd offered a decent amount of money for Alfaro Morata (or Morato, don't really know) earlier in the window. Obviously either Comolli or Kenny highly rate this boy, at least enough to offer a good bit of money for him, it'll be interesting to see what happens in the summer.

Just wanted to let everyone know what I've been told and if anyone else has heard anything similar.

{Editor's Note: I believe that you have been misled about any bid for Alvaro Morata from Liverpool. Manchester United made an enquiry I am told and Marseille asked to take the player on loan - but that was it.}

. . .to whoever said we are looking at Jose Enrique of Newsastle, have you seen him play this afternoon? He's like a tanned and hairier Konchesky and if he's worth £12m, I'll be a UTD fan next season! Stop these daft rumours, they're laughable. . .

Real rumour time. . .I've read in the Spanish press that we've been scouting Benega this season, which I believe would be a much better purchase than Adam in the summer. Just watch what he can do on youtube.

Fingers crossed for tomorrow

{editor: Not a clue sorry.}"

It is not correct. Sharkey.

Arda Turan's Agent said there is a possibility of him leaving Gala in the summer.

On another matter - Turan deal completed for the summer, and we are in advanced talks with Hazard - Forward line will then be complete with only a quality left back and centre back to follow. {ed's note - he would have to take a near 90% pay cut to sign for Blackpool! That is never going to happen.}

Ed - My original post - Agree with what you say, however, the new owners have made it a priority to 'dispose' of the overpaid 'ageing' players (Cole, Poulson, Konchesky, Kyrgiakos, Maxi etc) but they know that no-one will pay the sort of stupid wages they are on - They are therefore willing to offer a 'golden handshake' to the player to encourage them to leave i.e. a lump sum (which will still save the club money long term), with the only other option being rotting in the reserves and, nearing the end of their careers, they will be looking to play, so chances are they will take it.

Does anybody else think next season pacheco shud be given a loan spell somewhere to gain sum first team experience ?

ed u think mate ? {ed's note - I would have preferred to see him get experience with us, but it would be best that he gets experience somewhere.}

I have heard from a good source that Joe Cole was minutes away from signing for West Ham on loan for the rest of the season - Only a 'Blackpool' style admin error stopped it going through.

Apparently, he is very unhappy about his lack of first team playing time, and feels the club have gone back on a few promises made to him when he signed, when he was apparently assured of a staring role.

He confronted Dalglish about this and demanded to be included in the first team and was told, in no uncertain terms, that his inconsistent performances have put him way down the pecking order.

Dalglish likes him as a player, but feels he is not involved enough in games and that we cannot afford any player to not be showing 100%, all of the time - hence he allowed Torres to leave.

Expect to see him go in the summer - Either West Ham or part of the Adam deal to Blackpool.

On another matter - Turan deal completed for the summer, and we are in advanced talks with Hazard - Forward line will then be complete with only a quality left back and centre back to follow. {ed's note - he would have to take a near 90% pay cut to sign for Blackpool! That is never going to happen.}

Would people stop going on about peep leaving, we have had no evidence that this is going to happen! And if he did leave , there is no way we could replace him with shay given, Pepe is in a class of his own, his presence, organisational and distribution skills are far superior, his best asset are his hands, everything sticks for pepe! I don't think we could replace him with anyone in the EPL atm, just not good enough! Best bets would be.

to add to the above if we carry on panicking that Pepe is leaving then that my put the idea in his head, lets get behind him support him and sing his name all day long as he is the best we have ever had and long for him to stay. if the unthinkable should happen D Camolli has looked at Hugo Lloris.

Not trying to scare monger but. .

Article on SSN website with John Henry regarding the Carroll transfer fee stating we wanted a clear £15m difference between what we sold Torres for and bought Carroll for.

It states "Despite the huge investment in the squad in January, Henry has intimated that he and the other investors will not be pouring money into the club."

Also on Football365 website it has this on a similar Article:

"We've always spent money we've generated rather than deficit-spending and that will be the case in Liverpool, " he said, talking about the way in which his Fenway Sports Group operate the Boston Red Sox baseball team.

"It's up to us to generate enough revenue to be successful over the long term. We have not and will not deviate from that."

So don't expect a net spend of £50m in the summer; we may get approx £20m net spend however it will depend on league finish, clarification of Europe and whether we win Europa league.

Saying that if we get the Money from Aquilani and move a few of the players on (Konchesky, Poulsen, Darby, Insua (not sure if he would be a free to anyone)) and I wouldn't be surprised if we are paying a percentage to players that we've let go on loan (as the loan club can't afford the wages (i.e. Degen) so hopefully this will free some money up as well.

So don't expect 6 or 7 players in unless we sell someone for a big fee or KK decides to sell a number of players.

Eds,
What do you think of this for a liverpool side at the start of next season:

- - - - - - - - - - Reina- - - - - - - - - - -
- - - -Mertesacker- - Agger- - Skrtel- - - -
- - - - - - - Adam- - - -Gerrard- - - - - - -
A.Young- - - - - - Meireles- - - - -A.Johnson
- - - - - - -Suarez- - - - - - - - - - - - - -
- - - - - - - - - - - - Carroll- - - - - - - -

I think with that line up we could win the league.
Eds, do you think there is any chance of us getting any of those players for next season? Please respond. {ed's note - I doubt if there is any chance of A Johnson coming.}

Ed do you honestly see a future for Pacheco at the club? {ed's note - yes mate, I do.}

05 Feb 2011 02:52:27
I believe the Kenny Dalglish will be given the job full time in the summer, and that he will be given major transfer funds to spend. I don't think there will be a set transfer warchest, but the owners will be given a transfer list and set prices. I do know that Jose Enrique of Newcastle is being watched as our new left back, with a bid of 12m being mooted for the Spaniard. I also have information that the owners are willing to spend big in two wingers and a centre back. A centre midfielder is on the agenda but will only be moved for if absolute necessary

Sorry about the aditional post post but lets put thing in perspective:

RIP Eddie Spearitt.

Eddie and his son Adam (14) went to support LFC on the 15/ 04/ 1989 in the FA cup semi-final against Nottingham Forest.

Adam never came home and Eddie fought to survive after losing consciousness on the Leppings lane that dreadful day.

Eddie never stopped fighting for justice for the 96 and nor should we. 96 friend we all shall miss.

"On April 15th, 1989.
What should have been a glorious time.
96 Friends we all shall miss
And all the Kopites want justice.
Justice"

RIP Eddie

Respectfully
JJ

Hey ed's

Just a quick question, Do you think Turan will be targeted this summer. Everyone knows Kenny's a fan and He's a fan of LFC but all the talk from the last transfer window suggests we're not looking at him now.

Also I hope Pepe doesn't leave this summer, I really believe that he has been more influencial this year ( and last) than any outfield player. However Pepe is a completely diferent personality type to Torres, I really think that if we can show our amibition ( which I believe these owners already have and will continue to do so) we have no worries. I also believe that Pepe (if he wanted to go, still very skeptical on it) would do it so much more respectfully. I can forgive a player coming out and saying I need a move, I need to chanllenge myself more etc rather than pleading loyality and then throwing that up in our faces.

Lets be honest, if Torres had said there and then I want to be chanllenging for trophies this year and next we'd have been gruding but accept it. I thank him for his service but his advisors did him wrong (not trying to move the blame here, he could have issued a statement himself).

But Hey I diagress. So Turan. . is he on our radar? A CB cause lets be honest we can't rely on DA all the time we need someone in there, Jamie can't go on forever. Do you guys think we'll promote from within - Wisdom (? not sure that's his name), Wilson or A.N.other? Also what do you think of Suso and Sterling? For me, I haven't seen such potential and talent in the youth set up as I do now. These 2 IMHO look like they will be world class (and that is not an over-statement) and others , Coady, Flannagan (Sp), Amoo etc. I think we're well set up.

Thoughts, comments, opinnons.

Please post to rumours.

Cheers
JJ {ed's note - I really don't know what will be happening in the summer yet, I am sure we will be keeping tabs on the players Kenny and Comolli like the look of. But the rest of the season will be a time of assessing what's there and then making the decisions later.}

Yes ed, but everyone had thought the same about poulsen, everyone was crying for cole to be at world cup, he was what england needed, surely he can't have gone that bad in 6 months, give the guy a chance, he was even said to be brill in reserve game, it may just be me but i really like the guy, it was said he could have got more money staying in london he chose to come to us, lets do all we can for him b4 we throw him on scrapheap, jimmybosun {ed's note - he did choose us rather than money and I admire him for that, but I have never rated him as a player. I have yet to meet a knowledgeable Chelsea fan who thought he was good for them either. Most were glad to see the back of him. I was never crying for him to go to the World Cup either, I remember him as a kid and he was just built up because no other London team had a decent English player at the time. He was over hyped and still is.}

05 Feb 2011 01:30:59
Hi ed, if cole is as shot as you say, surely he is not of as merchandible quality and as we have had him less than 12 months we must be able to return him under the 1974 sale of goods act, just joking, jimmybosun, but i do like cole i wish he would get fit, ive heard players saying he does stuff in training that no one else can do, unless that is suck his, no won't go there, {ed's note - he does have good technique, but he has no intelligence, I don't just mean generally, I mean he doesn't know when and where to run or how to position himself defensively. Though he isn't the brightest off the pitch either bless him.}

FSG announced a new partnership with Fulham of the English Premiership, with shirt sponsorship to start in 2011!

Drezperado {ed's note - I thought they signed to find Fulham shirt sponsors?}

05 Feb 2011 00:11:26
{ed's note - he is not fit enough, good enough or quick enough, it is that simple.}
Pretty harsh words! The guy is has had a rough start but there is no doubting his talent, will be a hero for us yet. Ed save & remember this post, and next May see if you will repeat the same Bull sh**
Aroc {ed's note - sorry but it is not bull, it is a different opinion to you. You may think you are right but quite clearly Kenny believes the same as me. He offers nothing, his knees are shot and he is slow. But he does try his heart out every time he has been on the pitch for us.}

05 Feb 2011 00:08:43
Shay given all the way top GK in prem/ lge
(if pepe wants to leave )he won't but we said that bout torres so sound him out only reason SG is not playing cos he's not english fact

Hey ed any info on who Lenny might try and get in the summer. The face man {ed's note - not yet mate, it is early days, give it a couple of months.}

04 Feb 2011 23:56:23
For all those worried that Pepe Reina will go to Man Utd, relax. Just because Torres left, does not mean he will too. He plays for Liverpool FC not Fernando FC.

On a related note, Bayer Levekusen Sporting Director said that Rene Adler has a release clause for Manchester United, meaning that there is a release fee but it can only be activated if it is Man Utd that match the fee. Not saying that Man Utd will definitely sign Adler, but that is a very specific clause and it was put in his contract for a reason. At the very least he is interested in a move to United.

Hopefully this will help alleviate some of your concerns about Pepe. Besides, there's no point fretting over it now, the summer is a long way away.

Hi eds,
It's been a great week for LFC - thanks for all of your coverage. I can now start to see a direction for the team to move forward with - having spent £1m net this transfer window hopefully we can push on to improve our first VI (PR, DA, SG, RM, AC, LS) and second IX (MK, GJ, JCa, MS, MR, LL, DK, JCo, DN) sides into a first XI and second XI. However this does suggest that we're still short of about 7 players to be proper contenders, and even then it's unlikely we'd want to carry some of the salaries of the second XI.
The priorities for the summer have to be CB. LM, LB, RM in that order and give Kelly more game time to establish himself (which he looks like he could do!). Would you agree?
