Hi Ed002

Hope you are well, did you attend any games this week or not?

Also you gave a breif transfer summary a few days ago and wondered if you think or no if we are again looking at bringing in a N.10 a sort of replacement for Coutinho simular to Fekir?

Or do we seem to be looking at other positions as priority?

Thanks in advance.

{Ed002's Note - I am far, far from games this week as I am at home in the Southest. Liverpool after their tinkering with Fekir turned to Shaqiri who, to be fair, has so far done very well and must be a surprise to many of the fans and observers like me. We also have to remember that the club still have forwards ho are not getting, or not getting much of, a run out. Largely the squad is in decent shape. The club has clearly been considering central midfield. I am not sure right now there is a priority. I would not be surprised if a goalkeeper was also being considered.}

Would Chamberlain be the number 10 when available? Any date for his return?
Would this let Lallana leave?

glad to hear that shaqiri has surprised many, including yourself ed2!
says to me that the concerns were real, but also that he has, so far, put his head down and put in some good work. hope he can keep it up.

Ramsey is not a central midfielder precisely but scored goals from midfield which we are lacking atm!
I guess that’s the reason to buy him. He is poor in passing and very poor in tackling (Not his strong points) . But gets into the opposition box.

Buy a player whose faults outweigh his merits?

Where can I find the transfer update by ed2? What may get the best result on the search engine?

Ed002 what caliber of goalkeeper would you say they'd be looking at to replace Mignolet? I can't imagine too many good ones being happy to sign as backup. Any names going around?
Thanks a mil.

{Ed002's Note - Previously the club set the sights too high with the likes of Andriy Lunin and Thomas Strakosha and they are off the table. Other clubs are looking at persuading first pick players from what might be considered second tier leagues to make the move - Jeroen Zoet is one such example for another side at the moment. Many of the smarter clubs will look to Home Grown players (like Atletico did with Antonio Adán, like Manchester United did with Lee Grant, Chelsea with Asmir Begović, Roma did with Antonio Mirante) when the count of HG players is an issue.}

Ed 001, if it is believed that Hummels position at Bayern may he coming to an end.
Do Liverpool have or shown any interest? Do you see him as a viable option and would you want him?

Many thanks

{Ed001's Note - no interest that I am aware of, though he does speak glowingly about Klopp so on a free if Matip or Lovren were to leave it may be possible. Personally I would think he was not worth looking at as he is poor at defending.}

Ed001, isn’t that a trait of the modern day defender these days?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - not many as awful as him to be fair. Great on the ball but god awful as a defender and about as quick as an hour with Michael McIntyre. Well, maybe not as slow as that, as there is little worse than an hour with McIntyre. McIntyre is the comedy equivalent of a cheesegrater to the private parts.}

My favorite comedian McIntyre.

{Ed001's Note - is that a bad joke? Maybe one of his?}

One of the few players I disagree with you on Ed001, I've always found Hummels to be a good defender who reads the game well. He's slow but his positional sense is excellent. Great player to have when breaking down defensive teams or launching a counter attack. That said he's been particularly poor in the air in his last couple seasons which is strange as it used to be one of his biggest strengths. I find it hard to imagine him moving to Liverpool but I think he'd be an upgrade on Lovren or Matip. Would prefer to develop Gomez though.

McIntyre is awful. He's about as funny as my Granddad Hugh, who while hilarious, has been dead for several years.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - his positional sense is ok, but the speed of the game means he often can't get into position as he is too slow. His tackling is weak and he has no spring in his legs any more due to injuries. He is finished at the top level by the looks of it, sadly.}

His joke about the spices is absolutely hilarious.

{Ed001's Note - enough about Hummels, what about McIntyre?}

05 Oct 2018 11:57:18
Hope that isn’t the case and that if it is he enjoys something of a renaissance. It wasn’t too long ago that it seemed as though Rakitic’s legs were gone and now look at him. Either way a move to Liverpool isn’t happening.

Ed001, I share your views on Mcintyre entirely. I just don't get him. Had funnier visits to the dentist. Lee Mack, Milton Jones more my cup of tea.

{Ed001's Note - I just don't get why people like the squeaky voiced tit.}

I get angry watching him. How he sells out large arenas, God only knows. He just comes across as an upper class twat.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - Hummels won't be moving to Liverpool.}

Funniest thing involving McIntyre was his appearance on BBC Test Match special. He’d been waiting to get on as a guest and was talking glowingly about how it was s lifetime ambition.
It was absolute car crash listening as all his “humour” went down like a lead balloon and it culminated in Agnew saying “is this supposed to be funny”? 😂😂

I guess nodding your head very quickly doesn’t really work on radio 😄.
