Hey ed what's up wit the reina talk mate have I missed something? He won't leave would he?
, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,
im still convinced it has something to do with supposed set to with nando and sg then pepe jumped in and cara supposed to have had a go at pepe, its not just sg and cara had a go at nando about his attitude, there has to be something deeper, nando has saids today he will give his real reasons in a few weeks, im sure something gonna come out, hope im wrong, if it proves to be the case then the wrong pps will have left, if what jh said no ones bigger than the club, but im sure we will have to wait till they have all wrote books,

04 Feb 2011 23:13:37
Ed that's no true no every player leaves a team gary neville was with man u for all his career and paul scholes and jamie carragher will probably be at man u and liverpool for the rest of theirs {ed's note - not as players and even then they have to leave some time.}

TO ALL FANS GOING TO STAMFORD BRIDGE DO NOT BURN THE SHIRTS PLEASE, because it has thelfc crest and that way we willprove to him that we are not able to move on , and that we are weak.It will make torres victorious over us because it shows we are pissed off but we have to show that we are bigger than him as KK said and he is justg like any body else that left and we have moved on.Plus we should be supporting poor Suarez not caring about stupid Torres. WE ARE LIVERPOOL WE HAVE CLASS!
ED is there a way of spreading this message to all fans attending the game at the bridge?thanks

What is it with everyone here spreading all the doom mongering? jesus! ok torres wanted to leave so we sold him. now its all 'oooh pepe looks sad, that must mean he wants to leave too' honestly can we change the record?. i know this is a rumours site but lets at least stick with the positive for now. we had two major signings arrive on monday only to be completely overshadowed by torres leaving. were finally on the up, we've got everything going for us ie, the old yanks gone, kenny in charge money in the bank again, redevelopment on the horizon.and yet still people go on about 'ooh such and such doesn't look happy, and mr major player just had a wet fart. must mean he wants to leave' honestly it makes me cringe. we have literally had to fight tooth and nail to get rid of the yanks and woy, got who we wanted in charge and we're still all about the downers. whats it going to take for us to be happy? i bet if we won the league or a major trophy everyone would still be 'we didn't win it with more points than manure or we won on pens again because we can't win in ordinary time'. and as for the a**holes who started the ed's bashing tuesday morning cos we didn't sign who the editors said. take your laptop and your toys, get back into your pram and go home. being an editor must be hard enough without arses like you people not getting what they wanted for christmas or birthdays. right that's me done. mr editor, to the rumours page if you please, quicksmart. ;) the red cape {ed's note - yes boss!}

Hey ed what's up wit the reina talk mate have I missed something? He won't leave would he?

Fowler is god {ed's note - he will eventually, but it is just papers stirring up things, trying to claim that he is upset at Torres leaving and not getting on with other players.}

Eds can you help? What is situation with Aquilani?
If they do not offer the agreed fee, can we A) bring him back now or B) bring him back in the summer.

I think in Kennys new team he would be a big asset

Scout {ed's note - we can't recall him, but if they fail to pay what we want he will be back in the summer.}

juventus are massively in debt and are sitting in 7th, but look like they're gonna implode. i'm not sure about aqualani being back in the liverpool squad, but i'm sure he won't be in juve's

Hi ed we are in all the papers being connected to the following players, Hazard, M'villa, Sanchez, Baines, coentrao, and scott dan who out of these do you think we will get?(just an educated guess I mean, of what you hear coming out of lfc). I really thought Suarez looked very good and his movement and skill were alike I have a feeling he is going to be better than torres because he goes at defence and moves around the pitch better and you can't take the ball of him as easily as you could with torres, what do you think ed? thankyou

hibsylfc {ed's note - we have looked at pretty much all of those, no idea who will be coming in the summer though. Impossible to tell, one could easily have a bad injury or anything. As for Suarez, he looked fantastic in his first game, he looks like he really can carry his performance over to the EPL.}

Oh please stop already! I appreciate this is a rumours site, but lets have a littlle break; or at least come up with something constructive.

Ok then, we are looking at Sergio Aguero and Arda Turan!

Ed you think we missed a trick with bently? Seems like he's back to his Blackburn days, think he might have been a good shout myself. Tom {ed's note - nope, not good enough for us, never has been, never will be.}

04 Feb 2011 21:35:47
Ed do you know when andre wisdom is going to return from injury? I think he's a real prospect for the future and I was hoping that he would get some first team action in this season. . {ed's note - early in the New Year was the last I heard, so he should be back in training by now.}

04 Feb 2011 21:35:10
All TRUE reds. Do not throw your shirt on the pitch/ burn it etc etc. No matter what it says; it's a liverpool shirt. Keep it, mount it facing forwards on a wall. Whatever, but do not disrespect the club by throwing it/ burning it. We are better than that. The boy has made a mistake, he will realise in time - if you want to make a statement; sing torres' song, sing it better than it will ever be echoed around Stamford bridge ever again. Let him know what he has left behind, he will know his error, maybe as soon as Sunday. Then, sweet Carroll nine straight after. ;)

If you don't want you're shirt, there are various charities that ask for football shirts for kids who can't afford them. This way you get rid of the shirt you don't want and they go to a good cause.

We are the greatest fans in the world, let's act like it. The future for LFC is very bright, let's get behind them and continue forward. I cannot wait to see the match, wish Carroll could play but im ridiculously excited to see more of Suarezs skill, pace and teamwork. :D. Fans, respect the shirt, support the club and look to our very bright future!

Eds please post (preferably on both pages) I desperately want people to do the right thing at the weekend and represent our club as it always has been, with dignity.

04 Feb 2011 20:40:06
Ed's, have seen a few posts about the new financial restrictions! Will this affect the money the club has received for Torres or is this thought of as part of the clubs profit. Assuming that is that the owners are allowing the money from the sale to be used on transfers! {ed's note - that would be part of the profit and loss equation.}

Alrite Macca, Eds
Can you answer this or what do you think?, do you know macca, eds if pepe reina will be leaving in the summer and/ or was he the other player looking to leave.
just think myself if pepe leaves i will be gutted as keepers like pepe are a rare breed.
Pete-H {ed's note - impossible to say until nearer the time, he is looking to win trophies, but he won't be leaving for any monetary reasons or because he has fallen out with other players.}

Liverpool have first option to buy Nicolas Lodeiro from Ajax in the summer, they had it thrown in as part of the Suarez deal. If liverpool offer around £14mil in the summer, then they should get him.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
I know that Lodeiro was on Liverpool's radar before he left Nacional for Ajax. However there have been times that he has struggled to break into the 1st team in Amsterdam. I would have thought that Christian Eriksen could prove to be the more feasible target.

River Plate's Erik Lamela was also looked at prior to the transfer window closing. His ball skills would be idolised at Anfield, and what he presently lacks in composure in front of goal, he makes up for with his dribbling ability and close control. AC Milan bid euros 12 million for the attacking midfielder and at that price he is an absolute bargain. At 18 this kid has a massive future and we should get him now before his price rockets.

To the Chartered Surveyor who replied to my post earlier, I also am no expert in this field (secondary schools is my game!) but could give it a shot!. .
In terms of raising the top tier of the main stand, it could be done in theory however it depends what is there already - structurally. The tech part; the foundation and structural frame need to accomodate the additional dead and live loadings from the additional capacity. If they can't take the additional weight, then this is a non starter. In addition, by raising the height, it would also mean the stand would move outover increasing the stands footprint. It is this that has hampered past attempts to expand Anfield. Space around the stadium is the most problamatic issue in renovating and expanding Anfield.
Therefore, as you suggested, the easiest solution would to be to infill the corners as suggested, the added benefit to this would that the contstruction could commence without disturbing match day attendances (I would have thought) which keeps revenues up until complete.

Just a few thoughts.

Im a Chartered Surveyor and during the games this season I've been doing a bit of a feasability study in my mind to determine where the merit exists for cost effectively improving the capacity at Anfield. Stadium refurbishment/ reconstruction isn't my area of practice but analysing on a purely cost effective construction basis I can only see raising the top tier of the Main Stand to emulate the Centenary and fill in the corner between the Kop and the main stand as the way forward. This may create an extra 10-15% capacity and minimise disturbance. Any thoughts?

As an Architect I am assuming the post below regarding the development of Anfield (and the finer details) seems to be from someone in the know? ?
Anyway, if it is to be true, AFL are very much specialists in the stadia field (albeit Manchester based!) Their portfolio boasts both Chelsea's and Everton's new training grounds as well as the gigantic East and West stand of Manure.
Think the info posted may be more wishful thinking at this early stage, after all, the first words that mention redevelopment have only surfaced in an interview with Henry, and it is my understanding a decision wasnt going to be made untill a new CEO was appointed.
On the other hand it could well be a pricing exercise for the club. The best option instead of a new stadium in my opinion. Watch this space!

Not so much a rumour but an observation, if pepe goes & its a big if, maybe we should look to rangers allan mcgregor? he's an excellent keeper, wouldn't cost much as rangers are struggling, he does have some problems off the park, but once he's out the glasgow goldfish bowl & kenny had a word he'd soon settle down. what do u think ed? (great site btw) {ed's note - not one I would look at personally, decent enough keeper but not outstanding or anywhere near Pepe's class.}

mcgregors is so overrated, no where near the standard we should be looking at, should be looking at de gea if reina was to leave.

Ed do you think there is any truth in this rumour? The statement 'They had it thrown in as part of the Suarez deal' seems a bit flippant! {ed's note - there are rumours that it was the hold up in the Suarez deal, but they are just that and I have yet to find out if there is any truth in them.}

Has anyone else been amused by the sound of furious back-pedalling from Judas? The last person to leave LFC talking like Torres did won nothing and missed out on a Champions League medal as well. However, God bless SSN for now reporting a strong affirmation that he would not celebrate if he scores and strenuous claims of only deciding to move AFTER LFC entered into talks with chavski. It's typical of his recent behaviour that someone else is to blame.

The rumours that I have heard say that he was talking to the russian's chequebook as far back as last April. Is anyone able to confirm or deny the truth of these?

I also see that Rumplestiltskin Mascherano, the Barcelona bench warmer, has decided to stick his oar in - although he has yet to prove that the grass is greener on the other side.

Irrespective of this, it's good to see that the rentboys have recognised that our rebuilding is taking shape under the King. They obviously don't want their no.9 winding up our players and fans and making Sunday's game even more difficult.

Maybe Ancelotti has scripted this response or maybe Judas just received a text from Carra about meeting up on Sunday.

Unsigned and the Ed at 04 Feb 2011 16:14:49:

"Ed got a question- with the financial fair play rules that says the owner can only invest 15 million euros into a transfer window. Say we have profits of 20 million, can we add that to the transfer fund? {ed's note - yes.}"

Just to be clear on this, it is a total of 45M euro over any rolling three year period that the owners can throw in to the pot. So a club could spend 7.5M euro per window (which is 15M euro per season not per window), or you could splash it all (45M euro) out in the first window and then wait three years, or you could use it as and when you need it. But you are right about profits, they are added to the total. And these are not end of year profits, but the remainder after also ignoring any funds spent on infrastructure (stadia etc), youth development and a number of other criteria. Therefore, it is not as bad as people maybe think.

I also appreciate that I promised the Editor that I would do some worked examples. If time allows I will do them next week.

I wonder if the Editor could make a general folder for FAQ type of information?

Sharkey.

Ed, do you think we would be interested in John Obi Mikel if Chelsea do actually want to sell him? {ed's note - I hope not, he is awful.}

{Editor's Note: If you really meant what you wrote, I find it quite appalling.}

Come on mate, of course I didn't mean it, it was tongue in cheek!

{Editor's Note: You need to appreciate that there are others who are saying things perhaps not so tongue in cheek. Such commentary belongs in the depths of KopTalk with those who wanted direct action on H&G and those who demanded and got direct action against RBS, who may well have been saviours of Liverpool. You would perhaps understand better if you knew some of the detail of the RBS issues. I also posted earlier that threats of violence against any particular player, whether direct or through encouragement of Liverpool players would not be tolerated - at least by me. I accept that you perhaps said it "tongue in cheek" but you will, I am sure, now undewrstand that it does sound like something that a bone-headed cretin may well have said. Anyway, moving on...}

But I meant every word about Malouda. I'd love us to sign him!

Redfish

{Editor's Note: I think Malouda would be a tremendous buy, but my understanding at the moment is that he will not be leaving this year unless he says that he wants to move on. The club are still looking for two forward minded players, one for the right plus one other. Four names are in the hat but none would be a replacement for Malouda. At present cover is in the form of Zhirkov and I expect he will leave. A series of injuries have fouled things up for Chelsea and I expect time has come. But you are right, he could give some excellent options to Liverpool. Given he is around 30, I am not sure that the club would want to spend too much on him.}

Having been on in ages(2days) .ed who is most likely to be signed in the summer
Cheers ed
G {ed's note - it's only February! There is no way of knowing yet. Give us a chance mate.}

I'd expect to see bids for our January targets again, Ashley Young and Charlie Adam and maybe even another sneaky bid for Micah Richards if he isn't getting game time.
Personally I'd like to see a move for Adam Johnson as he isn't getting first team football and is better than Young, but so is Albrighton and I do rate him highly. Also ed(s) have Marseille tied down Taye Taiwo yet? I know his cotract was up this summer but haven't heared anything about a new one. We should definitely be in for him if he's available! Keep up the good work guys!

{Editor's Note: I would expect him to move to Benfica. Marseille are not expecting a new agreement to be agreed.}

Ed(s) quick question. I read the other day that Paco still lives on the wirral and is not working, I don't know if this is true and Im not even sure if the jounalist was talking about Paco Asterynienenenen (spelling). I though Paco was excellent and and would love to see him back at the club. Do you think that there would be any place at the club for Paco alongside Kenny and Steve Clarke who is also excellent and a very good signing by kK?

Bob Loblaw {ed's note - Paco is basically a fitness coach, so there is no reason why he couldn't work with Kenny and Steve Clarke.}

Just aquick question can anyone else get there heads around Mascherano's comments, I know ive allready commented on this once today but seriously what he is saying now dosent match anything he said when he was leaving about family being unable to settle in England, "the club could of done more to keep us at anfield" WTF, he turned down a new contract. Surely he can't have that short of memory. Macca do you have any info on the mascherano exit is there more to it than the club and Masch have previously let on? Appreciate you might not have the awnser to this but if you do or anyone else does, Thanks.

John Henry interviewed on US Tele,

. no new ground Anfield to be developed
. appointing KK their best decision
. when nando said he wanted out we had to get shut ASAP.
- - - - - - -

Just to be clear, John Henry said he would find it very difficult to leave Anfield He did not say Anfield would definately be redeveloped, nor did he rule out a new stadium. No decision has been made. I've no doubt NESV will do what they feel is for the best for LFC long term. I just don't want to see Henry accused of lying if they go with a new stadium, as he has never made a promise of redevelopment.

Do you think Torres or even Owen will ever be welcomed back at Anfield, even when their playing days are over?

I was talking to my Atletico friend last night and he is not sure Torres will be that welcome back at Atletico. He is convinced that Torres bottled out of both games against Atletico at the Calderon because he feared the reception he would get.

He points to the fact that Torres suddenly decided that he needed surgery on his knee after the 2nd leg of the Benfica game and after the draw pairing Liverpool versus Atletico was made. The excuse made at the time was that he needed surgery to be ready for the world cup. However, as i understand it, the Liverpool Medical team did not believe it was necessary. Do you believe there could be some truth in it.

Not only europa league, I clearly remember he didn't played against atletico in champions league group stages in 08-09 season. He "somehow" got injured before their fixture.

Roma say the club are set to be sold this month to the American businessman Thomas Di Benedetto, a part-owner of the parent company of the Boston Red Sox and Liverpool.

Members of Roma's management have been in the United States for over a week to try to find buyers, and chose Di Benedetto's company Di Benedetto AS Roma LLC ahead of four other offers.

A club announcement said the American company "present themselves as the most competitive offer". The two parties hope to conclude the deal within two weeks.

Di Benedetto is a partner in the Fenway Sports Group, formerly New England Sports Ventures, which owns the Red Sox, Fenway Park, Liverpool, New England Sports Network and Roush-Fenway Racing.

I saw the interview with john Henry & agree with him fully about the redevelopment of Anfield also I got the impression from his words that Torres told them from the start he wanted out! Maybe that's why he's looked so disinterested all season! What do you think?

"04 Feb 2011 09:38:32
Dirk Kuyt is on 60,000 a week he signed a new contract 12 months ago"

Hey, thanks for the clarification, do you know the specfications of the contract? e.g. length/ clauses?

Regarding my claim earlier about appox 30,000 a week, that was a rough estimation, taking into account that he donates 40% to his charity, that takes it to roughly 30,000 (36,000). Personally I hope Dirk Kuyt doesn't leave, he isn't the greatest player but no one can doubt that he puts in 100% for the club.

Regarding the transfer targets of summer, M. Marin is looking like a reasonable looking target but until we get closer to the opening of the summer transfer window, it's unreliable to state definate incomings or outgoings.

Ed, Liverpool owners have come out saying that they're looking into instead of building a new stadium, they'll look to revamp Anfield, do you have any insider knowledge on any of this? {ed's note - no but it was always expected to be the way we would go, personally I am glad, I never wanted us to leave Anfield.}

Does anyone know who our unsuccessful bids were besides Young and Adam?
Adam was said to have been our third choice - (Ian Holloway)? ?

Craigo

3rd choice meaning behind Suarez and Carroll

To people posting REINA leaving in the summer to MAN UTD

1. KK would never sell to them and they do not have any spanish players
2. REINA will stay as he is the captain on the field after GERRARD and CARRA
3. If you all think he will leave because Torres left then he should move to Chelsea but then they have Cech so would not get 1st team football.

So if he decided to go he would go to Barcelona or outside of EPL though I doubt it big time

I don't think Reina would leave us for United but i have to point out to the Gentleman who wrote this that Liverpool only have one spanish player (senior kids don't count) on our books.

John Henry interviewed on US Tele,

. no new ground Anfield to be developed
. appointing KK their best decision
. when nando said he wanted out we had to get shut ASAP.

Hi Ed, It is being reported that Aqua is coming back, as KK admires his style of football.
I for one is a big fan and would love to see it happen.Source : Goal.com

{Editor's Note: He would only come back if Juve do not match the price or no other team want him. He would then put in an immediate transfer request.}

Hey bud, there were a few websites with contradictary estimates, what i do know is that he donates 40% of his wage to his charity foundation, so that figure might be after that 40% is taken off.
*************************************

Thanks mate for that info - I wasn't aware that he donated so much of his wage - he is a top shelf lad in my opinion. LIVERPRES

We are being linked with Musacchio. The Argentinian kid plays for Villareal. Any good?

"Mate, if you are right and Dirk is only on this money, I wouldn't be selling - anyone willing to work as hard as he does for less money than the other "first team" members of the squad you mentioned, should not be let go. I have even more respect for him now. LIVERPRES"

"{ed's note - I am not sure on Maxi, but he is listed as contracted until 2013. You did make one mistake though, Joe Cole is not on 90k a week, that was how much he was offered by Spurs in wages. While he does get paid 90k by us, it is partly made up by his signing fee being spread over the length of his contract. We will still have to pay that off when he goes.}"

Thanks mate, so he did sign a 3 1/ 2yr deal so he'll be up on a free in summer 2013, if it had of been an 18-month contract from 2009 than he'd be up on a free this summer.

RMD {ed's note - I have heard no talk of him being on a free or talks about renegotiating, so he is probably in the middle of his deal.}

Dirk Kuyt (Will be 31 in summer) - Estimated £30,000 per week

The following is research I have undertaken on potential out-goings of Liverpool and in-comings and how they will affect the wage bill of the club. Most of the figures are taken from a variety of sources, more than one source has been taken for the figures. In some instances there were no sources found so estimates based on common sense is used.

Ageing players expected to leave in summer:
Milan Jovanovic (will be 30 in summer) - £50,000 per week
Joe Cole (29) - £90,000 per week
Sotirios Kyrgiakos (will be 32 in summer) - reported £26,000 per week
Maxi Rodriguez (30) - took a pay cut to join Liverpool, was earning £85,000, now rumoured to be around £70,000

(((Ed, could you confirm if Maxi initially signed a 18-month deal or 3 1/ 2-year deal as there are contradictary reports.)))
If it was a 18-month deal, he'll leave on a free in the summer.

Dirk Kuyt (Will be 31 in summer) - Estimated £30,000 per week
Paul Konchesky (Will be 30 in summer) - Couldn't find out wage but would estimate around £25,000 per week
Christian Poulsen (Soon to be 31) - Couldn't find but would estimate £30,000-£40,000.

On the lower estimates of these wages, that would reduce the Liverpool wage bill by £321,000
per week or approximately £16, 700,000 per year.

Seeing as Liverpool sold Ryan Babel (£60,000 per week) and Fernando Torres (£120,000 per week)
and brought in Luis Suarez (estimated £60,000-£70,000 per week) and Andy Carroll (£80,000 per week)

There's a further saving of £30,000-£40,000 per week decreasing the wage bill to £351,000-£361,000 per week.

Now, Liverpool owners said that they wanted to increase the wage structure of the club and Kenny Dalglish has said that he wants to remove/ decrease the amount of players in the squad. With over £350,000 per week/ £16,000,000 per year to spend on wages (minimum) it's becoming a very tantalising prospect to imagine the amount and quality of transfers we can expect in summer! So for those who think that we won't be able to compete with other clubs in terms of wages, think again!

Ed. . a rumour is going round that reina MIGHT leave in the summer with a possible bid from man utd, do you think he will go in the summer and if he does who do you think could fill his place if he does go.

{Editor Note: Hard to say at the moment. But I definatly wouldn't sell to Man Utd. I personally would move for Shay Given - he wouldn't cost that much and would do for a season for two before we signed someone long-term. Would also leave more funds for other areas.}
