Glad to read some of Rodgers comments before the Burnley game about how he should have changed the system and tactics much earlier in the season and identifying that his early season tactics just don't work.

Heres hoping we get top 4 and then he learns to start the season the way we (hopefully) finish it.

Haven't seen the conference but if he actually said that then it's the first time this season I have some hope he'll be a good long term option as a manager/coach

I can't believe this is a rumour lol, I thought it was a fact he said it, Or is it a smoke screen ? lol

Just in case anyone has yet to read it the direct quote was

"I needed to make decisions that would allow us to get back to somewhere near what we had been and the transformation of the team, with everyone talking about the system and how dynamic it is, has been good to see. I should have done it earlier.

After that Palace game I felt that it doesn't matter how much support you have, the team is not functioning and it could not go on really,

But I certainly wasn't going to roll over and die. I will always fight for my life. I love it here and I want to be successful here."

Granted he gives himself the typical Brendan Rodgers self love at the end but glad to hear the rest of it.

What self love does he give himself imred. It seems to me that he can't win with some of us. He simply said that he "loves being here" and that he "wants to be a success". How does that come across as "self love" to anyone. Yeah his system and other things weren't good pre the utd game but he changed things & results, so maybe a bit of credit is deserved & not more of the same slagging off. He was the best thing since the wheel last year & now he's a joke. I know we had Suarez buthes gone now, end of story. He also had to get a lot of new players used to the team, epl, speed etc. I know he says stupid foot in mouth things and wouldn't accept help (especially defensively) but maybe when the goings good don't slag him off even when he doesn't say things to warrant it. I know we are all entitled to have different opinions and this is mine. Cheers

well said . It's about time some credit was given to BR any team would struggle when you take out 60 goals. But he's turned it around admitted he got it wrong so hopefully he can learn from it YNWA

Also sorry eds posted something 2 minutes back but I asked last year if anyone had an interest in Leon Goretzka but you said Schalke would not be selling him- any change?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Nope.}

03 Mar 2015 17:47:07
hey eds if we are looking for a decent goalskeeeper think we have to ook at bernd leno or is he going to cost too much you think

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Leno is of no interest to Liverpool at this time but there has been an enquiry from Arsenal.}

03 Mar 2015 20:08:16
Craig Gordon a feasible option?

Agree2 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - not if you want a decent keeper he isn't.}

03 Mar 2015 20:46:46
Harsh ha ha

Has came back from long term injury very well and naturally doing well in SPL but more importantly has had outstanding season overall in Europe similar to Fraser Forster last year.

General opinion up here in Scotland us he's better than Forster and before injury was outstanding for Sunderland.

Would be great competition for Mignolet for me and proven in EPL

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Forster is not very good either, but Gordon is an awful keeper who consistently pushes the ball back into dangerous areas. It is ok playing in a crap league, but he would concede goal after goal down here.}

Ed

some reports are now saying that Milner signing is all but agreed? Not the nost reliable source so i'm guessing there jumping the gun? i'm probably pushing my luck today questions so i'm sorry in advance but crave your feedback and this site. X

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Manchester City are looking for James Milner to agree a new contract be he won't. There is interest from Valencia, Inter and from Liverpool - his wage demands might be an issue.}

03 Mar 2015 19:56:08
Cheers mate. Take it he ain't happy at Citeh with not being a regular starter.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he is looking for a regular start.}

03 Mar 2015 22:06:26
Ok mate ta. Not sure we can offer him a more regular starting berth than them Tbh. Not sure who we would leave out?

A question for Ed001 if you don't mind:
Do you think Milner would be likely to get a regular start at Liverpool? Would it depend on other players leaving in the summer, e.g. Lucas? Do you think Milner might make a good DM, for example?

There is no doubt he's a very good player but he seems to have become a bit of a utility man.

LFC already have pretty decent developing WB's and wingers, and Hendo and so he's not likely to get a start there regularly, surely?
What position do you think BR has in mind for him?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I don't think Milner is good enough to deserve a regular start for us, but I am sure he would only sign if guaranteed one. He doesn't have the defensive discipline to play a holding role. I believe he is seen as a utility player, someone who can be shifted around on the pitch when needed.}

04 Mar 2015 11:35:16
Cheers Ed, and a quick follow up question:
I imagine there won't be a lot to spend in the summer, so what do you think of the wisdom of adding a utility player on fairly high wages, when it could be argued we have clearer priorities such as striker and gk?
I'm wondering if the transfer committee are making a poor decision with this potential signing?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - our wage bill will be cut massively with our highest earner leaving, plus Johnson and most likely a few others, so it does give a bit of wiggle room. Personally I am not convinced Milner is needed, but the club see a need for him.}

05 Mar 2015 06:36:42
I see him filling in the right side berth in away games and against the big teams. More defensively minded than Markovic and Ibe.

05 Mar 2015 16:33:06
Im with Ed on this one, just not really what we need, seems an odd signing as he isn't a better winger than what we have and not a very good centre midfielder either.

05 Mar 2015 18:27:22
He's been City's best player this season begind Aguero and Silva, his work rate is amazing and his versatility is a great asset.For me he is much better than Allen in the middle and better than Markovic outwide, cracking free transfer.

ed

Ive seen what you have put about Vietto down the page. His agent has said Today that he could join Liverpool as they are interested??

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - agents are paid to get their players the best deal, talking up interest is a big part of that as it lets other clubs know he is ready to move.}

eds quick question, I'm really not keen on banding about random names but I personally think one player who would be a perfect player for us would be Kramer of Leverkusen, reminds a very much of didi hamann, do you believe there is any chance we would be signing him??

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I don't know sorry.}

03 Mar 2015 10:02:11
Eds what's happening with luciano vietto the villareal player he's linked with us and barca

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - he is being watched by a number of clubs, Arsenal are another. Nothing happening yet though they are open to selling for the right price. I expect they are hanging on as long as possible to increase the price received.}

03 Mar 2015 12:54:03
What's your assessment of him do you think he is ready for oue first team ?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - from what I have seen he looks very good, but not an improvement on what we have. Another one with lots of potential, we have enough of that for me.}

03 Mar 2015 09:58:16
A very good morning Eds

In your own opinion would you say Milner or Khedira is more realistic for us this Summer please? Also do you think Migs has done enough to establish number 1 jersey or we still after the likes of Neto to pressure him ?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - I don't think there is any way of picking a more realistic option out of those two. We are still looking for a keeper.}

03 Mar 2015 13:52:55
What sort of keeper are we looking for now Ed, young one to work under Simon or an experienced one to help him? Suppose, one in between too! ;)

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - we have the young one in Ward, we are looking for one to push him or take his spot.}

02 Mar 2015 23:10:16
Liverpool are negotiating the free transfer of Noberto Neto and Danny Ings. Johnson, Toure, Gerrard and Jones all look set to leave on free transfers. Lucas Leiva, Sebastian Coates and Jose Enrique are looking to leave Anfield this summer while Liverpool also want to ship a lot of unwanted forwards. Borini, Aspas, Lambert, Alberto and Balotelli are all likely to be sold. Liverpool have some great youngsters coming through and with the likes of Origi, Ilori, Ojo and Wisdom coming back from loan Liverpool do not need major surgery. Miralem Pjanic and Alexandre Lacazette would both be fantastic signings but both club presidents have said they will not sell and if Liverpool were to convince them they would really have to break the bank. Rumoured targets who are likely with their clubs looking to sell this summer would be Morgan Schneiderlin, Paulo Dybala and Danilo. Liverpool could supplement them 3 with the free transfers and then just continue along the same lines they have been over the past few years, buying young talent with potential. Will Hughes has been a long term target of Rodgers along with Sead Kolasinac. All in all regardless of who we end up signing this summer the future looks very bright and Anfield and Liverpool should be challenging for the league title again next year.

Hopefully those in power the transfer committee etc won't make the same mistakes again this summer.

As others have said on here - our transfer window needs to be based on quality, not quantity, and current youth team players given the chance to play by supplementing the squad.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Mar 2015 08:53:45
How many players are you expecting to sign this summer? Nuts if you ask me anyway. 2 free transfers plus 3 quite expensive players plus we could continue to purchase young talent with potential.

You have mentioned the loan players (4 of them) plus we do have other youngsters. We will not be signing another half dozen players on top of the loan players coming in.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Mar 2015 10:04:33
Yeah we don't need to fork out big money for any player.

Outs: Jones, Johnson, Toure, Enrique, Lovren, Coates, Paez, Gerrard, Alberto, Aspas, Balotelli, Borini, Lambert

Ins: M Ryan, S Khedira, D Ings, J Milner, W Reid, M Jansen
Loan Returns: Wisdom, Ilori, Teixeira, Ojo, Origi

Thus with a very small spend we could have a squad with both quality, depth and personnel that suit our current system, which I'm hoping we stick with for a long time.
