There has been some sort of change in rules so it is seemingly easier. Chelsea and Man Utd have been actively seeking to buy plenty of these "wonderkids".

Augustinson is decent, but however mutch, as I'm Swedish, I would like to see a Swedish player in our lovely red shirt, I don't think he will ever be LFC material.

Hi Eds,

Any update on players leaving the club? Even if its just interest.

Cheers

Hi Eds, long time fan of the site and first post (go easy!)

Just read City are going to make a third and final bid for Sterling, any truth in it? If it does not match our £50m valuation would he still be likely to go? Would be glad to see him leave now!

Thanks

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - they are still trying to complete a deal for him, no idea if it would be a final bid, but it is likely something will be done this summer to move him on.}

03 Jul 2015 11:48:44
Ed001, could you see any scenario in which you see him staying? Would you even want him to?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - not while he has the same tit of an agent representing him.}

03 Jul 2015 12:08:34
Eds, has anything changed with regards other clubs' interest in the player and if so, which clubs?

Any comment on actually realising the £50m?

Ta as always,

Rob

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - nobody else is interested at the price we are asking. I really don't have any interest in getting into the money.}

03 Jul 2015 15:16:45
Sure, not really interested in financial issues per se, just the likelihood of something actually happening at the asking price.

At a guess, purely on the face of things I have seen so far I wouldn't be surprised if something happens at less than £50m as, given how long this has been discussed already, I would have thought it would have happened now the window has opened.

I have a small concern that if this drags out over the duration of the summer and City decide on a "cheaper" alternative the club will have then priced the player out the market. and then what?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Then a valuable lesson will have been learned.}

03 Jul 2015 16:12:40
You should have added, Ed002, "for all concerned".

I wonder if the club can't win on this one.

I think they were respected for getting Suarez to yield for another season, and even considered astute in getting a great deal more than the Arsenal offer.

This time though, will they be seen to be soft and have mishandled the situation if he goes for less than £50m?

Will they be seen to be greedy if they do hang in for the asking price? And foolish if they don't get it and the player stays?

I mean Inter are not being cast in a negative light for holding out for Kovacic? I know it's slightly different because of the situation with the agent, but still RS is a Liverpool player and the club have every right to refuse to sell.

Seems like high stakes but I think the club would do well to agree a deal for anything over £40m - but then he's not my player and it's not my money. Considering Torres went for £50m, even though Sterling is English I would have said £40m-ish is reasonably good business all things considered.

Would be good to hear the views of others - should the club just get rid at the last offer tabled or hold out for more?

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jul 2015 21:45:55
I think on ability alone any thing over £30m is value for money, no real skill, passing ability, shooting or end product to speak off. The £50m in my eyes won't happen. There surely can't be anyway back for him barring getting rid of the agent but even then, most of not all seemed to have turned there back on the lad. Badly advised to end up going to sit on a bench. I'm fearing we could end up with egg on our face with this one if we hold out for a bidding war.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jul 2015 22:33:06
The way I see it is he has to go. I think we will get the £50m from city, maybe £40m plus add on. Anything over £40m is a great deal for (anything really as he has to go). But, whatever is finally accepted its a lot more then the £25m they first offered, well done us. Also it's not Chelsea. I think at City it's the next Scott Sinclair, at Chelsea it could be a lot different.

Hi Eds, Has there been any hint as to which former player the third coach joining the staff will be? I've heard Sami Hyypia and Bolo Zenden mentioned before but wondered if anything more substantial than offerings of the twitterscope had emerged.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - nothing mate, there were lots of people putting themselves forward for roles but no word on who will be getting it yet.}

03 Jul 2015 07:20:07
With our defensive frailties I would hope it was going to Hyypia.
His service to the club certainly offers more in terms of respect for his authority than that of Bolo Zenden. To use an adapted Carragher quote, kids grew up wanting to be Sami Hyypia, no one grew up wanting to be Bolo Zenden!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - except Hyypia has shown no signs of being a good coach, who cares what he was like as a player? He is no longer a player, move on. Zenden on the other hand has shown himself to be an intelligent coach who is very well respected as a coach. Hyypia is a failed manager. You would be making a huge mistake to choose based on their playing career, quite sad you even brought that into it.}

03 Jul 2015 08:14:43
Third in Bundesliga with Leverkusen 2012-2013 isn't that bad. Do he had help from Lewandowski.
Fourth in Bundeskiga 2013-2014 alone.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jul 2015 09:19:25
Yeah I think it's a bit harsh to dismiss Hyypia as a 'failed manager' just because he had a rough tie at Brighton. They were in a period of transition anyway. However, I agree that their prowess as players hasn't much to do with their ability as coaches.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Brighton was not his first managerial failure.}

03 Jul 2015 10:11:04
Guys you can't not agree with the Ed on this he's talking a vast amount of sense. Zenden is a great coach, I was rather hoping for a top class goalkeeping coach however

03 Jul 2015 10:36:56
And here's what's wrong with the endglish game, not only are you nor good enough as a coach if you haven't been a top footballers. You also won't get 'respected'

Wenger, mourinho, klopp, Evans hjst a few examples or fantastic coaches lauded by there current/ex players. Not great footballing careers though.

There could be a kid on a coaching course now who is going to be the best coach in world football. But will he get a chance ? Nope because he will stuggle to get himself into the game over here.

Have a read up on newcastles new assistant manager. Not a chance of getting in over here, goes away gets his stripes in other countries (26 and assistant manager at Valencia) and now gets a shot.

You will find the very very best coaches in football our failed/not great footballers. And it is there buring desire to be in the game that actually makes them great coaches. Also a lot realise quickly through never getting picked up or getting an injury/releases etc that they might go another away and get into coaching and therefore start there football education very early compared to someone like Gerrard for example. By this time nourinho abd been in the game on the coaching aide for about 16 years and getrard hasn't even took his first course yet.

Very sad state of affairs.

I also meant to post aswel that if you look at the football and the nfl now. Two of the most popular sports in the planets.

The two current vest coaches are

Bill Belichick & Jose Mourinho

Neither played there respected sports as professionals.

History will back in up go get yourselves to a library or on titnernet.

The best coaches / managers didn't have fantastic players careers.

I'm not saying a lot wouldn't of played the games and I'm also not saying that top ex pros dint make good coaches (one pep guad)

But the majority were never these amazing players

Pepijn Lijnders will be promoted from the academy to fill this position, he is an excellent technical coach who will work to develop all players ability on the ball but the particularly the younger players.

Watched a video of him an he looks very much in the mold of a Stirling type player, but this lad can finish as well. Can see him pushing for the bench straight away.

Eds any ideas if he's being lined up for an immediate loan move or if he will get a place in the squad? Cheers.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he will go into the youth teams, he is only 16.}

03 Jul 2015 12:38:27
I think he might well see a few first team outings this coming season. but of course you can never tell and Ed001 tends to understand the youth set-up much better than most of us.

03 Jul 2015 12:40:07
Should you have the time and inclination ed I would love to hear your views on the lad if you've seen much of him. No worries if you don't. Thanks

{Ed001's Note - never seen him play sorry.}

Any idea how much the lad cost? Is there usually huge sell on clauses or buy back clauses?
