I've noticed 6 names (there might be more but that's of the top of my head) have been linked with a £8m (or 10m euros) bid or move to Liverpool for january.

Theo Walcott
Mauro Zarate
Alessandro Matri
Oscar Cardozo
Bafetimbi Gomis
Kevin Grosskreutz

does it mean that someone found out that we are going to make a £8m bid for a player and is now trying to pin the tail on the donkey?

Theo Walcott - Will sign new deal
Mauro Zarate - quite possible
Alessandro Matri - doubt it
Oscar Cardozo - more than £8m
Bafetimbi Gomis - quite possible
Kevin Grosskreutz - quite possible

The money. What does it mean?!
Stop trying to decode and simply look at the most logical and realistic options. As much as we'd all like Cavani etc, be more realistic and wait for January with optimism in mind.

According to Mark Lawrenson on the radio this evening, FSG would sell out if they got a decent offer in the morning...not good news. Seems they are becoming increasingly disillusioned not necessarily with the playing side but some of the commercial aspects and finances of the club are not what they had hoped or envisaged. {Ed002's Note - Have you considered it may be something else that has pissed them off?}

Perhaps the fans moaning and groaning or the fact that they've had death threats ed? It seems like some people don't appreciate what they've done for our club in the first place. {Ed001's Note - exactly.}

And I'm sure such happy owners are going to be more than happy to dip into their personal piggy banks for transfer funds. In other words, don't expect them to spend much. Good job, owner-abusing-twitterers.

Are FSG seriously considering selling just because of fickle fans?! Every club has them!

Actually, they have not done that much for the club financially. They got it for a steal, one day away from administration like good businesses-men, and if they sell, they stand to make a 200% profit.

They waited till the last possible moment to lower the asking price and basically, it was the bank collateralizing the club and selling it to get their loan back... FSG jumped on the opportunity to buy it because of the rock-bottom asking price. The net spend on the squad is just about the same as the tv and ad revenue rights + merch sales + warrior sports and st chartered deals.. they have earned since then.

Meanwhile, FSG have now run sports franchises for decades and with the redsox, they have had to deal with all sorts of fickle or angry fans. this is nothing new to them.. they know what fans can be like and they are still supported by the vast majority despite their glaringly stupid mistakes.

I think it has more to do with them losing money all over the world in their different business interests. They have no money to back a Football club and they do not know the sport. Furthermore, moneyball has failed. The reason they got into the sport was making money like they did with redsox by playing the numbers.. football proved different for them {Ed002's Note - Rubbish - 200% profit? If they sell know they will just about make back their investment - the money spent buying the club and keeping it running for two and a half years.}

They have made money in the 2 1/2 years and do you think they will sell liverpool for the 200 odd million they got it for? be real ed.. if they sell they will ask for 500, like Hicks and Gillette were. Then we had torres, now we have a younger squad + suarez, sterling and suso etc.. we're surely worth a lot more than 200. Plus like i said, they have not invested in facilities or the stadium yet either. they are paying running costs and making money from tv rights, merch, ads and tickets.. they will make a huge profit {Ed002's Note - They paid more than £300M for the club and have put in more than £130M since. The valuation provided in teh summer valued the club in line with the Deloittes value and after charges there would be little or no profit. This is another example of football fans not understanding finances at all. Hopeless.}

Okj. Delloittes values assets in a different way, i agree.. but the never purchased a club, therefore, they did not pay a brand premium to laural and hardy at all. They may have paid off side-debts, refinancing agreement fees and other charges and penalites to to various banks, but the owner, at the moment of purchase was the bank. The principal loan amount + accumulated interest was the collateral value of the asset at that time, one day from administration. they did not pay 300m, closer to 200 m. they may have financed some things and paid further fees later in addition to make it 350M +, this is not in my knowledge so can't argue there.. the previous stadium project also lost money remember.. and also.. they made money as qwell, throughout this time. in my knowledge, the tickets, shirts, tv rights, sponsor stuff we did NOT hand out for free for the last 2 years did we? ... just saying. But thanks for the info {Ed002's Note - THe club cost a little over £300M to the owners. The accounts for their first year of ownership show a loss of £50 (taking account of all earnings and spending). The second year of ownership will show a similar loss. This, the third year has already seen transfer spending (net) of £30M plus fees. The valuation of the club given in the summer was close to the Deloittes figure - circa $600M - which is circa what the club stands them in at financially.}

Other than this there are good players around for 8 millian pounds because they are good players liverpool will buy them and be glory once again. These plauyers are Messi and Ronnaldo and they will win Prenier Leage

- Ibnan

QUOTE: {Ed002's Note - Have you considered it may be something else that has pissed them off?}

its probably all these stupid ass rumours xD

Has the £50 mil in losses you have mentioned come out of the owners pockets eds?

As I understand it those costs will be accounted for as running costs and will be part of the clubs debts. Further to this, a club will be valued not just on its goodwill, assets and turn over but also on debt liabilities. This would in turn mean that if the owners sold the club for its current value (probably will go for more than is written down) the debt would pass to the new owners, meaning the current owners will still make a profit from selling. As the price they got the club for was £250 mil (cost of debts to the bank and other) and they will probably sell around £400 mil if they do sell which is quite a hefty profit.

Tell me if I have anything wrong here as I don't know if there are different rules governing football clubs as a company.

Thanks for any info.

RAH, YNWA {Ed002's Note - This is all nonsense - sorry.}

I was the original poster and I feel that you may have miss understood my post.

It is nothing to do with FSG holding out on us or only spending £8m for players but rather that sooo many jurnos are randomly taking names that are all thought to be what LFC are willing to pay for them...etc....

To the guy arguing about club value, you've got no idea what your talking about.

firstly you're saying some saleable value is goodwill... this is a trading practice in an open market such as bars restaurants etc, used in the contract to say "i'll pay this amount but you cant open a rival business in this time period". A football club does not operate on this kind of terms so Goodwill is out of the window.

You assume that someone wants to buy the club for 500 mil, absolutely no chance. thats why fsg got the club for the price they paid in the first place, its the real value and not a ridiculous inflated price that no one will ever pay.

you include tv rights and sponsorship as a hefty profit for fsg if they sell, this can not be done without plunging the club into financial crisis, the money must stay in the business as operating funds, and any new owner would ensure it stays there, they dont agree a price and let the outgoing owner plunder all available equity.

Eds do you think everyone is just overreacting to this Sterling not signing a contract saying hes going to be sold or swapped with Walcott. Do you no where it stands atm e.g. is he close to signing a new deal
and whats the hold up?
thanks
Pops {Ed001's Note - he is not 18 yet, until then any contract is limited to 3 years maximum.}

Walcott will be staying at Arsenal for a few reasons.

1. Liverpool are not a CL team at the moment and wont be for 1 maybe 2 years.

2. His girlfriend has just enrolled at a London university.

3. He is using us to get the deal he wants.

BigD

Lets see what happens after he turns 18.

Hey Eds, Ed002 in particular with your knowledge of French football, is there any interest in the young centre back Kurt Zouma?

Amz {Ed002's Note - Arsenal looked at him about a year or so ago. Manchester United in the summer and Manchester City now.}

Downing and Henderson to be shipped out in January. Players in will be Sturridge and Walcott

About time!

Hooray!!!! Rather have kewell and kuyt than these 2 clowns

I think it's becoming more and more obvious BR doesn't want to keep Sahin after his loan. So he will need Henderson, unless he plans to bring another midfielder in the summer. Also, in the last few games Henderson has been a lot more involved and also impressed in general, so it is more likely he'll stay.

STB

Is this henderson himself!

Sturbridge is not going to improve us.

Where's the queue to buy either of these two?

Downing will defiantly be sold but unless we can get in a replacement in Jan then he will be sold in the summer.

Henderson will be staying, as a previous poster mentioned Sahin will probably be going back to Madrid as i think he is far too lightweight for the epl, Henderson has been playing well and now that he is being given the chance to play in his natural position he will be lot better.

Sturridge as we all know, an inquiry has been made over the available sale, i like you most see this one happening early in Jan.

Walcott i think will be staying at Arsenal. i think he is using us as a bargaining chip so he gets the deal he wants at Arsenal, However i think he would be a very very good buy if we could tempt him, id much rather him than Sturridge.

BigD

Let's hope so, both are terrible

Yup, I agree that Downing should go. Hendo, I would prefer him to stay.

Gee hope so!

They would fetch 18-20m + 20m = 38-40m spending money

i'd buy

Daniel Sturridge - £12m
Nicolas Gaitan - £17m
Mauro Zarate - £8m
& Didac Vila on loan from AC Milan

Suarez
Gaitan, Gerrard, Sturridge
Allen, Lucas
Enrique, Agger, Skrtel, Johnson
Reina

Jones, Coates, Wisdom, Sahin, Shelvey, Sterling, Zarate

Hi eds, do you think Luis Muriel of udinese is a possibility as a number 2 for Suarez? {Ed002's Note - There was plenty of interest in Luis Muriel over the summer but none I am aware of from Liverpool. Added to that he has signed a new long term contract at Udinese.}

03 Dec 2012 17:04:22
eds any news on the reported intrest in Artem Milevskiy and Mohamed Diame? {Ed002's Note - Milevskiy is close to agreeing a move to Italy although interest from Turkey and Germany may tempt him. I know nothing of any link with Diame.}

Hi guys, I got inside info for u lot, bent will be coming to liverpool and downing going other way, talk going on at the moment. joe cole will be going on loan to west ham, just to sweet them up to buy Andy Carroll, unless QPR buys him upright, Liverpool are looking at Hooper, Sturridge and ince, FSG wants to do bigger signing in summer. So hear you go, believe me or not you will see.

The insider

I'll look forward 'til they "do bigger signing in the summer"

Cole can't go on loan to them because Carroll is already there on loan, they can't have both at one time.

If West Ham stay in the premier league then they HAVE to sign Carroll permanently for 18million n I doubt QPR would spend more than that on Carroll!

I think they meant qpr buy cole not Carroll

Has anyone seen Hooper, Ince or Sturridge play ? None of them will improve our side.
G

What a p*** take the insider, yer right mate whatever.

1. Bent isn't coming to Lpool.
2. Westham can't take J.Cole on loan as they already have big Andy.

Do a little research before claiming to be ITK.

Waste of space.

Bent is a fall-back option should we not get our main targets. Cole could leave on loan so long as a sizeable proportion of his wages are met. If someone wants him permanently we would have to pay up at least 12 months of the remaining 18 months on his contract and let him leave on a free. Walcott and Sturridge could both happen but realistically I'd expect only one. Walcott in January would depend on Arsenal taking Downing if it's to happen. We can't afford both as we haven't got the money and you can't spend the Carroll money before its in the bank. Reina could be the key to getting Walcott and personally I'd have Friedel in on an 18 mth contract to allow us time to buy a younger guy. I'm hearing Begovic is the keeper BR really wants as hes less of a risk than Butland and others who have been mentioned. Ince and Danny Rose are definite targets as they fit BRs plans and FSG buying policy.

January best guess

IN - Sturridge , Ince, Tello (loan)
Poss Walcott with Downing or Reina to Arsenal
OUT - Cole (free), Doni (free), Downing (swap or loan), Spearing (loan extension)

Summer

Walcott?
Holtby?
Rose
Begovic
Fischer?

BR has been going for players he knows, diamonds he can polish and very talented youngsters and I doubt this will change.

Non of these players will make LFC a champions league competitors.
Sturidge way too greedy and not good enough, Hooper i kind of like but the Scotish league is totally different to the EPL. Remember Kris Boyd from Rangers banging them in left and right then came to EPL and was really poor.
I can see again LFC getting some players who isn't posted on here 100 times a day.
I'm waiting for a suprise.

FowlerGod.

^ Remember Nikica Jelavić from Rangers banging them in left and right an then came to EPL and was really........... mmm, still banging the Toffees in left and right.

I think West Ham should buy AC Laying down rather than "upright". He'd be more in his element therefore we'd get a better price for him.

03 Dec 2012 12:42:38
any news on the Enrique situation? A few months ago he was "definately going", but has arguably been our best player this last month - is he now firmly part of teh managers future plans? {Ed052's Note - It does seem as if he will stay. He seems happy and he is decent at left mid. I wouldn't expect a January move}

03 Dec 2012 12:06:21
hi eds whats the latest on theo walcott an daniel sturridge ? {Ed052's Note - I'm not sure that there is any latest really. Both are of interest with the latter a distinct possibility}

Nobody wants him but BR. He is greedy and has little talent.

Both are not good enough , sturridge cant get a game even tho torres is half the player he was with us . walcott the same not a regular for arsenal cos hes inconsistent , the type of players we cant afford to have in are team. we shouldnt buy any british players has we have spent over 80m and got nothing for it. they are so overprice its a joke

^ We need at least 8 of them (British players) in our squad of 25. I agree it's a joke but it's a joke that was imposed upon everyone by the FA. {Ed002's Note - No, it is 8 homegrown over 21 if a full squad of 25 players over 21 is declared. That is very different.}

I posted on here about two/three weeks ago about Daniel Sturridge being close to signing (which everyone knows by now). There had been a bit of a snag with Daniel's uncle (Dean - ex Derby player), not sure what the complications have been, or whether he is Daniel's agent. This has now been sorted and the transfer is now very close to happening. Expect a transfer confirmed in the next week or two.

Nothing will be confirmed before Jan. 1st or both clubs will be penalized.

I like the way you think you we're 1st to inform us of Daniel Sturbridge being linked with us? Only been going on since last season.... Well done mate

"There had been a bit of a snag with Daniel's uncle (Dean - ex Derby player), not sure what the complications have been, or whether he is Daniel's agent."

What does that even mean?

Any more bad news? You could really send me looking for the Prozac and tell me we have interest in that donkey, Bent. Nightmare.

It would be the most ridiculous thing for me to mentioned Dean Sturridge unless I was getting this from a good source. And by no means am I saying that I was the first to talk about Daniel Sturridge, but I was one of the first to mention it when the rumour resurfaced. I am a Liverpool fan, and I don't really want Sturridge to be honest, but just telling you what I know.

Considering you posted this on December 3rd nothing will be confirmed in the next week or 2

Is there any truth that Suarez has asked Brendon Rodgers to take a look at Fernando Aristeguieta at Caracas FC. This player is being lined up as a replacement for Cavani at Napoli. I have had a look on youtube at his goals and he looks the real deal. Plays more like a attacking midfielder very strong a great eye for goal.

Eds any truth in this rumour ?
not the Suarez recommending part but do we have an interest in the player ?
would really like a classy Eropean gem or 2 in th Jan window. Cannot really stress how much I don;t want the likes of Sturridge,long,bent etc. {Ed001's Note - the issue is a work permit, we have taken a look at him though, I am told.}

I've just watched him on youtube and he dosen't look too bad but come on youtube makes anyone look good. Just to prove this theory look up best of Emile Heskey.

FowlerGod.

Hedley was decent at one time, though, wasn't he?

DaveyBootle

I'd take a crack even if i meant loaning him out for two seasons.

Heskey is good. You can't expect him to be scoring goals in every match but he was always there when you need a pass or someone to hold the ball. He is a team player.

03 Dec 2012 10:08:42
Any interest in Bryan Ruiz?

We looked at him when Hodgson was in charge
Hutch

Good player but we need a player who will get 20 goals a season an i dont think hes the right man for that

03 Dec 2012 10:02:07
james milner has been linked with livepool liverpool are hoping to sign his for 8 million

Sign his what???

For £8 million he would be a very good signing, very strong and has good experience in the League.

I see Milner as a decent signing for that kind of money, would be an improvement.

No chance..absolute garbage.

We need a striker not another midfielder t join our ever bulging number of midfielders.

So James Milner of Man City has a namesake called James Milner, who we hope to sign for £8M.

Who does he play for? What position does he play?

Please god no!!!!

The right sided version of Downing...give me a break...he aint a Rodgers player you person

"For £8 million he would be a very good signing, very strong and has good experience in the League.

I see Milner as a decent signing for that kind of money, would be an improvement."

What games have you watched, brother? What a nonsense rumor. Milner does have a good work rate but belongs at at blue collar club like Newcastle, stoke, west ham. Not a Liverpool player at all.

~Fresh

James Milner can sleep with his money in Man City. No! Please...

Hi Eds,

Is that true that Liverpool is interested in buying Oscar Cardozo from Benfica? i love to see him playing alongside with Suarez!!

Reds Jacky {Ed001's Note - not as far as I know, the only people who have linked him with us are those that are hoping. Not sure why there has been so little interest in him, he always looks top class whenever I see him. I have to wonder if there are other, off-pitch, reasons to steer clear?}

Exactly ed..i liked this guy...he is a top quality player..we never went for him..
3 signings we really really missed wen we had decent chance..
turan 12 mil
honda 8 mil
cardoza

all should have been summed up at 30 mill all together..
we could have fighting for the title with this three..

damm KK missed them

I was led to believe that he had an underlying issue with his knees. Not sure what the problem is? I honestly don't see him as a good fit for the BR system either.
Hutch

From what I know he's a player who doesn't move much. He's very static and doesn't always give 100%. He fits into the Portuguese style of play well and is successful there, but as is so often the case it's thought he'd struggle in a more prestigious league. His positioning is top class though and he has a vicious left foot, but he doesn't have any real pace and would struggle in one of the top 5 leagues IMO

Derby Rams' Will Hughes will be added to our academy this window. Solid and confident young star in the make of Alonso. YNWA - Danie -Derby

Hope its true, noy has a bright future... pretty sure we ain't the only ones tracking his progress though

Hi ed brilliant website! Questions: do you think pepe reina could leave to arsenal as a deal for walcott and some cash?

And what would be the chances of landing jack butland and charlie austin in the january tranfer window?

Making a point that this players had been linked with liverpool before and given the fact that there young brittish players. {Ed001's Note - I don't see Reina moving to Arsenal, we don't really have a replacement, not a top class one. Butland? Has anyone actually watched him this season? He has been poor, it would be a huge risk to pay 10m+ right now. Austin has not been a target for us, as of yet, Villa are leading the chase for him and he is simply not good enough anyway.}

Ed, what makes you think Austin isn't good enough?
I'm genuinely interested in his abilty. {Ed001's Note - not quick enough, first touch isn't good enough, movement is ok but not top level, his passing and vision is poor. Also he has the same off field lifestyle as Andy Carroll or Adam Johnson - neither of which Rodgers wanted due to that.}

Heard on here that Fernando Aristeguieta from Caracas FC is being looked at. So contacted a friends wife who brother works at Cracas FC. She tells me he has Ajax and Naploi gunning for him aswell and would only cost around 4 million euros.

You must be CARACAS!.

HAHA this post made me Laugh.... People have "some amazing" overseas links on here... brilliant

Sinister Red

May make you laugh but its true thye are interested in him... i think they are going to but him then loan him out

Hi yes true would have come sooner but got an injury last season now scoring even more goals and fully fit.
