And how will we fit all these players in? Surely someone is going or a few are going out on loan? We'd have Lallana, Markovic, Ibe, Firmino, Teixera, Coutinho and Traore as wide men with Benteke, Ings, Origi, Sturridge up front. Does anyone know what the plan really is??

Reports are rife all over the internet that Asier Illarramendi transfer is almost complete.
I find this not only baffling after convincing Lucas to stay last season but also some what unnecessary as we seem to be over run in midfield and would have thought we would be offloading players in this position rather than purchasing more.
Maybe if Allen's injury yesterday is long term i could understand it but to me its a pointless purchase.
Is there ANY truth to this Ed's?
And if so, how do you rate him?

Allen injured his hamstring. He might be out for a while. We have no deep lying playmaker in the team. Makes more sense than reports that we've bid for Cheryshev, but then again.

If he was protected by hendo and Milner he could do alright but and its big but .
1/ playing them three leaves us no defensive protection
2/ we saw last year if hendo has to baby sit he os half the player
3/ we also saw that no matter how much you trt to protect people (Gerrard) they still nwes to hols there own and frankly illara looks to slow for la liga let alone the prem.
I would prefer Dennis as we need a left footer in the team and it gives us and option to start with Ibe and him on the right and left and then switch them like Franck and arjen (not same quality but same idea)
That's my two pence on the situation but we know what Brendan wants Brendan does. In the nicest possible terms.

Would be a welcome addition if it meant allen was to be let go. Not his biggest fan and certainly don't think any top 4 team would be interested in joe.

Can, Allen and Lucas all could play there
Lallana, Henderson, Milner, Coutinho, Firmino, Markovic, Ibe as attacking midfield options
Sturridge, Benteke, Ings as forwards
Am thinking there must be a big "out" before end of window.

BR doesn't seem to fully value Lucas, Allen isn't a DM, Can is perhaps the future but not proven at DM yet. I can understand the Illara rumours if we were to sell Allen but the squad is too big to buy without selling

Hi Guys new on the blog although been following for years now. I was the first to mention Jordan Ibe coming to us as a friend of mine played wv him at Wycombe under a different user name (forgot). The Cheryshev interest makes every sense. The game we played against Helsinki was so one dimensional especially second half. We played one way and that was to feed jordan Ibe every time. Against better opposition this is too predictable. I can't remember seeing and out and out left footed old fashioned wide man since Reira. We don't have balance in the side especially wv Lallana coming in to crowd the centre and relying on Moreno to bomb forward which is risky leaving us exposed at the back. With the acquisition of Benteke we need to feed him where it matters most and can't rely on Jordan Ibe to do that each game it just won't happen. We need to vary our style of play and not rely on tikka talk a football as teams will park the bus and Leave us thoughtless. Thanx Eds. Love the site by the way.

Never see him play but listening to you guys on him. he seems a decent player. Maybe it's time for markovic to go back to benfica for a season loan. I like marko but he doesn't seem to be up to prem standard yet. Whether that's the position he's playing in I'm not sure. So I'd be quite happy if this lad came in and could actually cross a ball for benteke to attack.

{Ed001's Note - we are still trying to move them out, there is nothing brewing as such right now though for anyone else. We are really only actively looking to offload those two, others it is a case of we will sell if we get a good offer, such as Markovic.}
