Evening Edds, just wondering what's the latest on Liverpool selling players I no it's difficult right now with the team in the states just wondering if there's any further developments in borini, assiadi, reina, toure, Coates.etz

Thanks Edds

Believable15 Unbelievable44

{Ed002's Note - Borini may go to the wire and then it is touch and go. Assaidi will go if he sorts out his demands - Liverpool have halved theirs already. Suso could still be offloaded. Liverpool want Reina out as a sale not a loan. Toure will stay and see out his contract. Coates has not attracted interest from any club who would risk too much cash on him. Nacional would take him on a free.}

Eds, I've read reports suggesting that Reina is in negotiations with Liverpool to terminate his contract by mutual consent. This would make Reina a free agent, and allow him to be able to agree personal terms with any club he chooses, such as Napoli. Any truth to this?

Agree4 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware and it makes no financial sense for the club. Napoli have been interested but the "package" is expensive. Liverpool want rid, and unless he has threatened to see out his contract unless his demands are met, then the club could easily pick up a few million euros for him. If he is threatening the club then just cut him off for three weeks and if then there is a problem, cancel his contract and he can do what he wants. If they are simply negotiating a release now it seems rather late in the summer to be screwing around.}

03 Aug 2014 20:14:22
How about Coates? Do you think Liverpool will release him? He's never going to play enough games for his value to increase so do you think they will let him go to Nacional? It seems a shame to keep a promising young player if he's never going to be give the chance to develop

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool want a return on him. Nacional might put up a million or two euro at best. His wages are well beyond what they can afford. I don't know how open the club is of drawing a line across such players and letting them go. Particularly given he was a poor buy, has been injured or loaned, and now is a fringe player at best.}

Eds if indeed the Borini situation does go to the wire like you've said, do you see that having a direct affect on if or not we add another striker? IMO if he stays then we probably will stick with what we have?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I would always advise against trying to relate transfers. If nothing else because of the sequence - you can't all buy before you sell.}

But Ed Coetes has been playing in most games recently. Why play him instead of giving someone else much needed pre#season gametime. I know shop window and all that but focusing on players who have a future is surely more important.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I really don't know why he has been playing.}

Ed, when you speak about Coates, is ti meaning to buy him, o to loan him too? I think Liverpool should be open to another loan (not to Nacional) if they can't find a buyer, in order to sell him (or promote him?) next season. What is your thought?

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool are overloaded with CB. Sell him.}

04 Aug 2014 15:54:37
What about Johnson? Seems we will end up with 4 right backs before the season starts.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - First choice I would think.}

Hi eds what's the latest regarding Lacazette and Huntelaar?

Believable11 Unbelievable32

{Ed002's Note - Newcastle are still pushing, OL are still resisting but as ever, if the right money is offered a deal can be done for Lacazette. Huntelaar remains available for one last hooray. The price is great and he would work off the bench but bring very significant Champions League experience. He sees Arsenal and Liverpool as viable cup winning options over Turkey and Spurs. Brendan Rodgers obviously ignored my first bit of advice which was to buy Pedro as he is versatile and can bring a real change to the attack. Maybe he will also ignore my advice to make a shrewd move for Huntelaar and open up some pretty nifty options.}

I know how you feel ed he always ignores my advice.

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - Bit of a pig isn't it?}

03 Aug 2014 22:28:19
Huntelaar could turn out to be a great cost-effective option to have off the bench considering there doesn't seem to be a lot of striking options available. Having played 4-3-3 at Ajax, Madrid, Schalke and for Holland I'm sure he could fit in our system somehow. Ed002 makes a good point in that there is not a lot of champions league experience in our squad.

Agree2 Disagree0

We already have Lambert. Adding Huntelaar makes little sense given the system we play.

Agree0 Disagree1

Huntelaar has no pace.

Hey Ed's, hopefully this post will make it through.
Few reports doing the rounds about Dani Alves and Balotelli now. Do you see these as an actual possibility or just media trash?
Also, has the pursuit of Bony now ended and any news of Moreno?
Thanks in advance

Believable7 Unbelievable32

{Ed002's Note - (a) PSG and Barcelona were working on a deal that would see Dani Alves move to Paris as part of a deal for Marquinhos. I am not aware of any offer for Alves from Liverpool but if there were and considering the addition of Manquillo, then I suspect a number of younger players will have to question their future at the club. Alves was to move to PSG but a delay elsewhere removed that option. Barcelona are keen to move him on as soon as they can and Milan took a look. It strikes me as an odd and expensive move if true. (b)Balotelli has been playing up again and will be leaving Milan this summer. Monaco and Arsenal have shown some interest and PSG might be interested. If Liverpool are considering him, and I don't have any indication that they are, it would be difficult to see how he would fit in as a regular starter with the other players - and the style of game Brendan Rodgers is looking to play. Mino Raiola was in Brazil during the World Cup and spoke with representatives of other clubs and to Mr Wenger - who understands the full financial implications of buying the player - which are not inconsiderable. (c) I am not aware of Liverpool approaching Swansea for the player although am aware that Macca has suggested interest, so I would take his word for it. (d) The word from Copenhagen last night was that Liverpool were yet again trying to include Suso in the deal. I suspect something can be done in the coming days if Liverpool make an acceptable cash offer with most of the money up front.}

Why would we try and include Suso? We would be much better off keeping him and giving him a chance to impress this season. Letting him go would be a big mistake.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - Done to death.}

I know suso has potential but at the moment, sterling, ibe and coutinho are better players and at a similar age.

Agree2 Disagree0

Why is the word from Copenhagen? Is that where talks are taking place?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It is unimportant.}

03 Aug 2014 21:00:29
That's a great in depth reply Ed. appreciate your feedback, it's good to read. If we were after Bony as Macca said it seems strange that we have not spoke to Swansea yet with just 2weeks before the season starts. I guess we will see what develops over the next few weeks.

Agree2 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - I don't want to be played off again against Macca, but we have information from different directions and Liverpool may well be pushing for Bony without my knowledge. To me the answer was always Pedro who would have slotted into what Brendan Rodgers was looking to do, probably seamlessly. I am not aware of a chase for Bony but to me I cannot see how he would be a regular starter. If Liverpool were to get another striker in (and Bony might have been a really good choice), the it is Huntelaar who can provide an option from the bench and Champions League experience that the club need. But I am just a simple rodeo cowboy who knows nothing.}

Thanks again Ed. bang on mate.

Agree1 Disagree0

Was Pedro available earlier in the window eds? I agree he would have been a great addition

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Pedro has been achievable.}

Such a shame to hear we are trying to offload Suso. He looks good, has done his loan stint to improve but then not given the chance. What message does it send to other young hopefuls? He clearly has talent.

Maybe BR who sees him everyday in training knows something we don't? Does Suso have some major attitude issues, or stamina problems that mean he will not make it?

Agree0 Disagree1

04 Aug 2014 01:53:00
Ed is Pedro still available to us or has that opportunity passed?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool have been looking elsewhere.}

Sometimes a player doesn't fit. It doesn't make them a bad players. I think suso isn't strong enough to play in the EPL and his game would be more suited to the Spanish league

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Aug 2014 13:13:37
I totally get the reasons why we would not get players like Balotelli and Alves but considering the latter, I feel that although younger players might feel that they don't have a future but players like him bring experience and experience about getting over the line for titles and cups. Correct me if I am wrong but I don't believe that any player in last years team have won a league title in any country? We do need a player or two who can calm nerves and help in the dressing room. I don't see either player coming anyway, but I do feel we need the odd player who has won a league somewhere. They always say the 1st title is the hardest. I'd quite like the idea of DA at Anfield. even if he's there to help in the CL.

Agree0 Disagree0

What do you mean 'what message does this give other young hopefuls?' . Do you mean like John Flannigan and Raheem Sterling.
I don't get this view that Suso is the next Pele. He looked ok when he had that run in the team, but certainly didn't pull up any trees.
Rodgers obviously doesn't fancy him, and that's good enough for me.

Agree0 Disagree0

Kolo Toure won with Arsenal and City.
Sturridge may not have got a medal but was around City and Chelsea's winning teams.
Coutinho was given chance by Benitez at Inter(who won CL and League with Mourinho that summer).
Pretty sure Suarez won medals at Ajax. Glen Johnson too was at Chelsea when they won title. Gerrard, Agger, Lucas, Skrtel may not have won League but came mighty close as well as winning other major honors.
It's about ability, desire, guile,craft as much as experience . That's why this year we've bought a few with good mentality, in Lovren, Markovic, Lallana, Lambert, Can.
Anyway this time next year every LFC player will have title winning experience!

Liverpool have bid €6.2million for Alves, according to Mundo Deportivo, as they look to bolster their full-back options.

Mario balotelli' agent is to fly to England to discuss a possible transfer to Liverpool in the coming days.

Believable56 Unbelievable151

Mario is a guilty pleasure for me. Every bit of common sense says no, no, no! But I do love the guy. Bags of talent but a total loose cannon. If we did sign him, I would probably buy a Mario shirt, so why not? I mean, we've had it bad with Luis. .if he'll give us 15 goals a season but be a pain in the arse! What the hell, go for it!

Agree4 Disagree2

Dreadful risk. At least LS had that winning desire. Mario don't care. Sometimes he turns up, sometimes he does not. That is not the attitude that BR is looking for.

Agree11 Disagree0

IMO if the reports of the 18m euro is true then it's a no brainer. That's 14m pounds for a top player, Rodgers will get the best out of him, I think it's just a matter of time before Mario realizes he needs to clean up his act because he has the ability to be one of the best.

I think Rodgers is the man to get him to that level.

Agree6 Disagree0

Yeah it's just matter of time . as Suarez

Agree2 Disagree0

If we sell borini for 14 mil and get balotelli for roughly the same price that's a risk worth taking. He's always played in defense minded teams and has done well, I think if BR could get consistency and higher work rate he could flourish in our attacking style. He has the potential to be ones of the worlds best and I'd be happy to have him at Liverpool.

Agree3 Disagree0

03 Aug 2014 16:19:31
He would be an utter waste of money that is no improvement upon young Borini. He has shown himself to have potential but no actuality on most occasions and he is far too often a player that is anonymous when it matters. At least Borini leads his life by appropriate professional morals and last year showed that he can rise to the occasion for Sunderland. A move for Mario would leave me in total despair.

Agree0 Disagree4

He'd be pumped up for the City game. He has Ibrahimovic potential and 10 years younger.

Agree2 Disagree0

I sincerely hope it's true. Balotelli + Moreno and Manquillo would be frightening for our rivals. That said I think it's a long shot. Can anyone confirm the Balotelli interest? Eds? Guys?

Agree1 Disagree1

He's a player who could go one of two ways, either become like Ibrahimovic and be outspoken mad genius, or a Robin Friday. At 14m he is worth the risk and I think BR could get the best out if him. But we would be replacing one batsh*t crazy player with another.

Agree2 Disagree0

World class striker on his day, heads full of sweetie shops on others, if he's going to knuckle down it may as well be with us, I'm sure BR can see a bargain, is he worth the effort that's the question, could also be a load of ballcocks

Agree0 Disagree0

Hasn't he pretty much become the fall guy for Italy and Ac Milans dire form?

However he was once one of the hottest prospects in Europe with shot statistics putting him in the same league as Messi, Ronaldo & Rooney.

If he came and Rodgers could get the best out of him he would be an absolute monster forward. Guaranteed 20 goals per season.

I hope he joins ;)

Agree1 Disagree1

I think Balo would be a fantastic addition and agree a bit like Ibrahimavic but with BR controlling and helping him mature he would score multiple goals and great goals at that. A definate risk worth taking.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Rodgers has no experience of controlling nor maturing adults - where do you get the stuff from?}

Rodgers has dismissed speculation linking Liverpool with Mario Balotelli. Thank God!

Hi Ed,
Just a quick one. Have we ever considered Julian Draxler? There seems to be zero talk of him going to anyone at the moment.
Thanks

Liverpool are leading the race to sign Martin Odegaard from Stromsgodset and could pay up to £10 million for him, reports Metro.

Hi Eds I know we have been linked with stephan el shaarawy are we still interested at all? :)

Believable13 Unbelievable62

{Ed002's Note - No link, no interest.}

Ah ok I thought we were linked with him a year ago.

Agree0 Disagree1

I know it's only a friendly, but I didn't see what the fuss about him is. Both Sterling and Ibe looked far better IMHO.

Not related though, but Can looks a shrewd but. He could be a monster in midfield for us, built like a tank, good on the ball, strong in the tackle and a good passer. Can see why Bayern wanted a buy back! Good scouting I say.
