According to Italian website calciomercatonews.com Liverpool have made a 12.5 million bid for Gaston Ramirez

RED BIRD

He sucks, he should of scored against GB, but missed, why get him?

Cardiff instead of wembley because of him.

Wow, we should not by a player because he missed an easy chance? If that was the case then we would not buy anyone and should just give up as a football team! One games does not make him a bad player, and 12.5 mill that could be a steal although im sure we will pay a bit more if we do sign him.

Andy Carroll to west ham £100,000 a week on an 8 year contract.
Carl85

As if any young player would sign an 8 year contract with any club, and as if any club, especially a yoyo team like West Ham, would risk an 8 year contract on that sort of money.

He'd get less for murder

Just to let you know has closed betting for joe Allen transfer to Liverpool, indicates signing imminent

No it doesnt it just means that lots of people have put money on it, what's new?

Most likely to avoid losing money

No it doesent

Allen will be a Liverpool player soon, get over it.

Means nothing, do u not remember they closed betting on frank ribery signing for us a few seasons ago, people make money off rumours, make sure everyone is convinced it is going to happen then bet against it and make a fortune. Col

Clint Dempsey and Charlie Adam betting closed too

When Carroll leaves, Daniel Sturridge will be his replacement. I Heard this from a mate who said he heard it from one of Daniels relations in Birmingham.I have no reason to disbelieve the rumour and thought I would pass it on.

Micheal Mouse

Another Micky Mouse rumour !!

Borini is Carrolls replacement.

How would Sturridge's relative know? How would Sturridge know? Presumably we've been tapping him up then?

Red Ollie

But can he spell Michael?

And I heard it from a sloth who heard it from a sloth who heard it from another sloth!

To whoever wrote the second comment, Borini is Kuyt's replacement. No Carroll's.

Bull, Dempsey will be the 'false' no 9. Trust me. Dempseys mate.

Tell your minnie i think shes fit mate

{Ed022's Note - Hi all, there has been a brand new Player Profile posted on Victor Wanyama of Celtic. Liverpool currently hold an interest in the midfielder, and could be a great, cheap buy for any club. As it stands, Arsenal have just bid for the player, so Liverpool would need to act quickly thats for sure. - www.player-profiles.co.uk - cheers all.}

Thanks! Really enjoying these profiles and appreciate the effort you put into them!

Red-David-26

As much as I would like to say Ed that this profile would at least be worth checking out (and I will check it out, even though I live in Scotland but I always like your assessment of a player), there are those that are going to say that he plays in SPL so he's not worth it even though most of them probably said that we shouldn't have been looking at the likes of Jelavic when he was available from the SPL.

There is no talent in Scottish Football full-stop
Ive watched it die for the last 25+ years ,there isnt one player worthy of a Liverpool jersey in the entire Scottish leagues put together the nearest thing to talent I suppose could be Forrest at Celtic ,nobody else,a league and set up void of integrity and footballing talent , you would be better watching subbuteo or painting your front door both activities far more exciting.

gaston ramirez is set to be liverpools next signing with a fee of around £13 million to be paid . Also heard from a good source in the club that allen NOT dempsey will be signing for us.
Remember where u heard it first : KOP Man

cheers
Y.N.W.A

Hope so mate . Do you know date when Ramirez signs ?

Cheers

Jamesy

Yep he signs never

I also heard that I think that also would add to bringing him to the club even more and ramirez backing suarez about the booing at olympics

This rumour has been going around for ages.
The hat.

After 31 august

This would be a great signing if it's true!

Ramirez will NOT be signing, don't be an person, this is nothing more than a guess based on flimsy media speculation a long time ago.

Remember where you heard it first?!! Yeah right, first Ive heard of those names!

sturridge to replace carrol also expect sum movement regarding alonso in the next 7-10 days

justin

Justin......sane!

The Alonso rumour has been done to death and I can't see any possibility of him re-joining us.

We'd need to teach Sturridge how to pass the ball, I'm not sure that is possible.

I sincerly hope Sturridge doesn't get anywhere near this club, he's completely s***.

MarkB.

Very True but Caroll is coming to Man U. Look back at Rooney's career. Will Rooney and Caroll work together? I think Caroll should Re-join.

R u better than sturridge? no so keep ya trap shut

Sturridge is a good player.

The Alonso stuff is nonsense. Real do NOT want to sell him/loan him or anything like it. He's staying where he is.

Alonso will return to Liverpool next season on the cheap or following season on a bosman to finish his career here not this season

Vargas deal to be done by next week

No deal being done, don't be daft.

As we basically recieved no fee for aquilani Ed, why
didn't we just accept the €3.5m AC were offering earlier
in the summer?
Knowsley Red {Ed002's Note - A good question KR.}

Maybe cos AC wernt that nice

Because Comolli and kd where clueless

I reckon political reasons, AC were fairly sneaky over it.

Because we are turning into to a bit of a joke in the world of football

I was thinking it was more of a salary problem with AC, but then again what did Fiorantina offer that AC could not?..makes no sense, and who suffers....we do the DAM fans...YNWA

I wonder how much in total Aqua man has cost LFC in terms of transfer fee and wages? £20 million to buy him and £125,000 a week by all accounts.

Another expensive mistake by the club, and they seem to keep on making them.

He has now signed for fiorentina

LFC fans must now be amongst the most miserable in the world. Never happy with anything.

Because AC messed us about. So why would we do business with them

Maybe because Liverpool thought they could get more, and the fact that Ac Milan took the piss.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't £125,000 a week like The Daily Dribble or what ever scum sucking rag it was said. I'm pretty sure it was closer to £80,000 a week, right?

Wasn't Gerrard on £120,000 a week when we signed Aquilani? I'm pretty sure he's our highest earner and has been for some time.

Was it not because we got messed about by them on aquilani's last loan spell.

They were gonna buy after year loan, then tried to drive fee down

Jimbob

Right! It's like finally we have gotten rid of some dead weight from Rafa's time (three Managers ago)... and we still want to complain. We are moving forward.. Stay positive fellow reds.

Liverpool are hoping to complete the transfer of Clint Dempsey before the last pre-season game against Leverkusen and I've been informed that we are pushing to complete a loan signing for a young winger. I have no name but am told it's a player who's currently in La Liga. This is not concrete but information I've received from a close personal friend who has relations with a few players and staff who have been at the club a while.

Thanks, Tom.

It's di Maria

I hope your right mate, can't see it personally.

Tom.

My 'close personal friend' is Bill Shankly's ghost.. and he told me that...... "BLAH BLAH BLAH"... Are these posts getting old to anyone else.

Aint gonna happen ,Spearo or Adam were the bait.
Fulham wanting to much cash + the player

03 Aug 2012 16:38:05
hi eds
l'equipe said that aquilani signed a 3 years contract with fiorentina and liverpool will pay half of his 4 millions wages for the first two years.
can you confirm this?
{Ed002's Note - Please see the other posts.}

03 Aug 2012 15:34:02
Hi Eds, do any of you know the transfer fee we received from the Aquilani deal to Fiorentina and whether there is any agreement in place for us to buy one of their players. I'm thinking Vargas or Jovetic?

On Allen I think he is a better player than Henderson and Adam although I think we should be concentrating our efforts on signing quick and skillful wide players. {Ed002's Note - The figures I have at the moment are Liverpool will be paid 4M euros of which 200k euros will be paid to Roma and 3.4M euros to Aquilani to boost his wages. Jovetic will not be moving to Liverpool but Vargas is available.}

So you're suggesting we're getting 400k EURO's for a full Italian International? {Ed002's Note - You don't need the apostrophe in Euros - it is a simple plural. But a common mistake.}

Looks like he stuffed us right to the very end Ed. Unbelievable...

JESUS what a waste of 20million Euros ,ha ,u watch aswell now he will be their best player now hes back in Italy

So what did we get for him then? he cost us 4m to sell i dont believe that a lower prem team would of paid us money for him we would of got 4m atleast from west ham {Ed002's Note - He would not of wanted to go to West Ham. West Ham did not bid for him. Do you understand how the process works at all?}

Ed2 made me chuckle then

Ed002 .. Thanks mate..

Wow what a waste of money!.Our transfer policy is a joke.As for joe allen,i think he'll prove to be a great player!,much better than henderson,adam and spearing.We need 2-3 quality players to come in,or i can see another dissapointing season ahead.

It does not matter if the player wants to go to another team or not infect it does not matter if the other team want the player or not he should just go

I get you logic mate - can you see whats wrong?

What made things even worse was that in the early days when he was given a chance he just did not seem to want to be at LFC

Do you understand the proses its not selling a player if we pay him to leave the reports sujest we sold him not released him you just wurried because you edds told everone we would release him an now we have sold him you trying to make it look like you was half right. edds you were wrong take it on the chin dont embarrass yourselfs an make up lies to cover your backs. ill wait for the official press release and if your right i promise i will say sorry but like i said i doubt it

adamlfc

Wow. Thanks Rafa.

{Ed002's Note - The figures I have at the moment are Liverpool will be paid 4M euros of which 200k euros will be paid to Roma and 3.4M euros to Aquilani to boost his wages. Jovetic will not be moving to Liverpool but Vargas is available.}

So reading between the lines Liverpool owe Roma a sell on fee (wow that was ambitious) and we are supplementing his wages. My question is, beyond the few hundred thousand euros which are left, what's the motivation from our point of view - why not just leave him in the reserves?

{Ed002's Note - I see the rest of the money going on agent fees and admin. It seems that I am the devil (yet again) for sharing.}

1. it means that he is no longer in our books to pay wages for.

2. it means fiorentina paid the extra wages, we get less profit. (3.4m Euros was from the 4m Euros paid by Fiorentina to us).

3. opens the way for Allen, even though we got less profit or actually no profit at all, still a win win situation to finally get him off our team.

Kaizer

03 Aug 2012 15:09:50
apparently we have submitted a bid in the region of 12 m for Ramirez

Is CalcioMercato reliable? {Ed002's Note - They are carrying the Suarez to Juventus story as well today. You decide.}

It's on talksport, how reliable are they?

If we have them say goodbye to him because that will not get him... i say go for sarhin

This is all over twitter,which means it's probably not true.

03 Aug 2012 14:50:09
Clint Dempsey news:
Fulham currently have only one offer from Liverpool (10mil) and waiting for another club to make an offer. Liverpool are expected to make an improved offer if another offer comes in for Dempsey and also if they're able to sell a couple of players(Adam and Carroll looking most likely to leave). Dempsey personally prefers to go to a champions league qualified club but none of those clubs have made an offer yet. So as of now its a wait and watch game with Liverpool having an upper hand in the deal. There are rumours though that Spurs might make a last moment bid...

There is no chance we have bid 10 mill for him never mind make an improved bid hes 29 and 12 months left on contract

Really ,spurs spurs ..this is really getting to me nw.

Totally agree, if SPURS want him that much let them have him ...we should not be drawn into bidding wars with the spuds

Doesn't AVB know how to Scout for his own player? Every player we seem to have (already) or looking to sign, Spuds are straight in there. Frustrating!

I am pretty sure these are not your players by divine right. Anyone can bid for them... How do you know that Spurs were/aren't as much interested as you are??

We need to sign him NOW

Beggars belief that people submit such rubbish that they probably heard someone on the next table in Starbucks say to a mate. Just a hint of a credible source and of course a name at the end may make such drivel be a touch more believable.

John B

We do not need to sign him NOW or any other time if they have rejected a £10million bid and are asking for more.If Spurs want to spend 12 or 15 million for a guy almost 30 then they can have him.

Agreed. Everyone we are linked with, true or not seems to be attracting interest from Spurs. If he wants to go there then fine, not a problem at all.

Assuming we are interested in Dempsey and it's not a smoke screen.

No way will we pay £10 million for a 29 year old with 1 year left on his contract.

Read a Spurs forum the other day. They were laughing at how they troll our transfer targets. That being so maybe we are not being paranoid.

If our current transfer policy is anything to go buy i dony see why we offer fulham 20 million for dempsy and sell him back next year for 5 million, we are a laughing stock in the transfer market why dont we keep our pants pulled down and let every club screw us over.

I mean christ, are the spurs paying our scouts wages on top of what they already get paid. Always after players we're interested in. Its getting beyond a joke now. Lazy b******s. {Ed049's Note -

He is not worth 10 million so clint wont be joining liverpool put the money towards something we actually need a pacy winger ,kyle

We should put in a £20m bid for Carroll - perhaps the spuds will take him off our hands for a decent fee then.

Mate the reason is they know they can't compete with other big teams so they are trying to screw our plans in order to weaken us don't forget they are our direct rivals for top4. And only one place is for grabs
Manchester city
Chelsea
Manchester united
? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? It will be between liverpool,Arsenal totenham and newcastle. Maybe arsenal will nick it

Allen could happen over the weekend..

Cheers

Macca
{Ed033's Note - confirmed as the real Macca

Nice one mate, thanks for the updates.

Great news. Very good young player

Red Machine

Happy days thanks for the update.
Red sheep.

Exactly very good young player...gerrard gettin older now, allen will be the perfect replacement. some persons on here and u call urselfs lfc fans.

Gerrard didnt become the world player over night. It took faith to give him his chance and look how he repaid us? istanbul springs to mind Give allen a chance people

"our midfield is way too weak to compete with the top 5 clubs"

Competing with the other 'top clubs' has never been our problem, we usually do pretty well against the teams above us in the league.

It's the teams below us we need to start competing against more. Dropping points to the Norwich's, WBA's, Wigan's and Swansea's of this league hurts us every year. These are the games where our midfield needs to dictate the game and we always struggle.

Watching the game last night surely you could see the need for Allen in that midfield? constantly looking for the ball and keeping possession?

JRG

So many pessimists on this site. get a grip

Agree with the above poster it took gerrard time to develop people forget this,Allen Lucas Henderson (James McCarthy perhaps?) could be as good as we have had for a while let them grow together eg? Paisley's genius

Couldn't be any worse than Adam..

Finally someone on here talking some sense. We need more people like you mate.

Way too many people here have no idea what it is out midfield requires. Many on here are prejudiced against smaller team players (admitedly we've been shafted in the past) but Allen and Dempsey are a lot better than Poulson and co. Catch a grip people. This won't be Henderson v2. And this season watch some football as well before you comment with such tripe.

Not exactly happy looking at arsenal close to sahin and cazorla and were close to Allen it's the same as last year paying over the odds just because he's British just like hendo downing and Carroll.

Why do people knock Allen and in the same breath complain about not signing Sigurdsson - Allen is a far better player than him.

Is the new name for this site - Pessimists R Us?

John B

Hope he is as good as some people say as I dont really know him. I thought we didnt play any different in the game yesterday as under Dalglish. hope this will change though. I believe we need someone in the midfield who can play passes and feed the likes of borini and suarez. no one in our current midfield can provide that... still not impressed by henderson.

joet

All you pessimists go support man city!

Thanks for the info mate, your always the first post that I check on this amazing site!

Nuri Sahin, why are we not in for the kid? I'm a little bemused as the kid is quality and on the cheap, he could be one of the best signings we mak

03 Aug 2012 15:56:08
and what is wrong with Joe Allen? A very good player and will go on to really improve. Thanks for the info Macca i take it you're happy with the news as well. Thanks again Rennie

03 Aug 2012 15:56:40
cheers Macca. As for the haters, wanna give the kid a chance before you write him off?

03 Aug 2012 15:57:26
we're not in Champs League, we came 8th last season and we don't have the financial capabilities of the likes of Chelsea and City. HOWEVER, what we do have is a smart and determined young manager, owners who I believe sincerely want the best for our club, we have already witnessed the overhaul in both staff and players and more changes are to come in the future. This is a fresh start. Our purchases have to be tactical and shrewd, it isn't just about splashing 35m on someone just because they're a 'big name' - a lot of these players want CL football, something we can't offer YET. We have to strive towards CL football with a team of driven and passionate players who come to Liverpool not because of the money they are offered but because of the plans set out for the future! Keep the faith or just go home!

Don't usually post but I can't believe how negative most of you 'fans' are, get a grip and give the guy a chance he is what we lack in midfield calm on the ball and an eye for a pass. You all need to come back down to earth expecting us to compete with the man cities and Chelsea's it's not going to happen so post something positive you melt bags.

TrueRed

Not bothered if I get slated but some of you lot are completely PATHETIC!

I said it yesterday and will repeat it again, we are SUPPORTERS, so we need to start SUPPORTING, our manager and players. Give the guy a break he has had the job less time than I have spent on the toilet in my lifetime and I am only 25!

Allen proved he was a quality player last season, and I am bored of people using Big Fish, Small Pond. Plenty players have stepped in from small teams to big ones and some just take extra time to settle. Hendo, Downing & Carroll included in that, they didnt have the best season but you cant expect instant success without an owner who is willing to spend Billions. We can push the big boys for Premier League (not this season) if we stick with Brendan and show some faith in letting him lead this team for the next 3 years without expectation like Fergie did.

We can beat the big teams, its the others that we have stumbled against recently and I think BR is the perfect solution as he proved last season how to do it.

KEEP THE FAITH

JonBoy6
YNWA JFT96

PS Good luck Aquilani, I know it didnt work out and you didnt want to be here but I am not bitter and wish you all the best

03 Aug 2012 16:08:12
Brilliant news after last night just what we need look at the confidence of the team when Lucas came on Allen will produce the same calm with simple passing! Cheers Macca for the inside knowledge as always!
Taster123

03 Aug 2012 16:08:45
at least we got rid of aquilani. allen is class and can handle 30+ games a season. thanks Macca

Some people clearly haven't seen him play. To me it seems he has the simplicity of alonso combined with the tenacity and urgency of gerrard. Not bad attributes to have for someone his age. His attitude and temperament also look to be there which would suggest he can only improve. Needless to say..he excites me.

Geo

We need to finally buy someone who can put the ball in the back of the net...not another midfield player...i am getting sick and tired of us signing players who if you really think about it are not much better that what we already have.Why don't we just play Shelvey? and stop wasting money!

Thatracoonstolemybacon

03 Aug 2012 16:10:23
If u think Allan is a bad player you no nothing of football!
Joe Allan for 12-15 mill is a steal!
He's very skifull with great passing abillity!
He will be our best midfielder this season.
It will also relive some pressure of Gerard to get forward.

Thank you Macca for the update!

03 Aug 2012 16:18:29
cheers Macca thats brilliant news he,s a great player and will get better just what we need in our midfield i hope we go on to get dempsey as well, thanks for the info Macca .... steve

I did here that the deal was being finalised today

adamlfc

Adamlfc

Anyone that heres as opposed to hears is a useless source

Great news he is going to be a top, top player and watching last night he is desperately needed in our midfield, he is ruthlessly simple. Allen, Lucas and Gerrard will be a great combination in the midfield.
Ikin the Vicking

03 Aug 2012 17:22:40
Thanks for the info as always Macca. Allen will be a great signing. Lucas,Allen and Henderson will give us a great base and a very energetic midfield Gerrard is getting older and must be used in the right way so he dosent get injured. things are looking up lets all get behind the team and remember it wont happen over night so be patient.

murton red

Allen is a decent player. I still think Shelvey is the one that has the attacking credentials most like Gerrard. I hope Allen's arrival does not force Shelvey out or disillusion him. He's also got to think about how he brings Henderson on too as he's got a bright future. It's good to have competition for places as long as there's no dead weight. Adam and Spearing in particular are looking surplus to requirements

03 Aug 2012 17:23:40
Macca are we expecting fair few players out of the door?

Keyword here is "COULD". For some impatient fans here think could = will.

I really hope it happens bc I believe he is a great player.

SLURed

People calling other people pessimists shall we call you fantasists? Allen is a good player but im a realist and say he isn't the answer right now, but am happy we will get him none the less. But the so called pessimists want the best for the club regardless

Sigurdson was rogers first choice, personally after watching them both closely sigurdson is the better player. can play anywhere in mid and up front, loads of goals in him too. you will all see

Don't like to use this anolgy but taggart down the road built his long term success on players like keane (notts forest) giggs (youth system) scholes (youth system) won't mention a certain couple of brothers but you get the idea they were the mainstay of the team with the marquee signings when appropriate you cannot buy that sort of consistency & loyalty (that's why he is still having to play them cannot afford or get replacements) aguero & co will off to Madrid or barca at first chance same as ronaldo how many big names stick around for more than 3/5 years? The ed who described most players as transient employees is correct unless they have or develop an affinity with the club it is usually about the best deal for them personally some might regret taking the money over being valued (Torres?) but that is the choice,I like to think brendon Rodgers is developing a spirit of solidarity similar to what they have at barca with Catalan ethos.....paisley's genius

03 Aug 2012 19:19:32
If Joe Allen was Spanish or from South America we would be raving about him. As usual anyone from the UK gets rubbished.

If we sign him give the guy a chance

Anybody saying that we don't need Allen are dillusional. Anybody watch the game against Gomel? We couldn't keep the ball for more than 3-4 passes, Allen is exactly what we need, a calming influence who knows how to keep possession and has an eye for passes

Andy

Well if take into account what happened with Sigurdsson you better be cautious

Allen WILL NOT be signed before Wednesday. This weekend is out of the question.

Redder Than Red

03 Aug 2012 22:41:11
Let's just wait till the window shuts it does not take a genius to work out that we have to get rid of some players, which I believe we have been doing. It annoys the stuff out of me that some people watch a 5 min YouTube clip and think that that player is the business and if they are foreign then even better. Perhaps if it was el Allen people would be happier. I've watched him quite a bit he reminds me of a quicker version of Lucas and mascherano which is what we missed when Lucas got injured. Happy days and thanks Macca.
The hat.

Could be our Giggs...

Dr S.Atire.

15 million for a young proven Premier League player = very good business by BR. Allen could make a massive impact over the next few years!

Why are people comparing sigurdsson and Allen? They played completely different roles...

04 Aug 2012 12:07:28
Don't know why people are knocking Allen. He's what the team needs. He's always looking to pass the ball and does a really good job at it to. He has a great work ethic. He reads the game well, does a good job of pressing off it and he knows how to play in Rodgers system wich helps the midfield rigth away. When I heard that Sigurdsson might join us, my first thought I would much rather have Allen he is Swanseas best player imo.

03 Aug 2012 13:39:18
pacheco told he not needed at liverpool any more. expect him to be reunited with paul lambert at villa very shortly. you heard it here first.

cheggerbalofski

I can see this being the case which seems to be a shame as you would think he has something that would add to the team. However, he has played under 4 managers so you would think, like Aqualani, they can't all be wrong so there must be something missing. Potentially he could be on an artifically high wage package as Rafa had a habit of that ie. El Zhar which could cause a few problems with other players of a similar standard wanting more money.

Shame if true as he did well in the USA and recently tweeted that although he was back with the ressies he would keep working and was sure first team would happen one day.
CR

He hardly played when on loan at Norwich so why would he go t villa where the manager has much better players than norwich....

Fair enough if he goes he has had a few starts in the first team ,he cant seem to score ,,hope he stays tho and proves me wrong

6 appearances 2 goals dont ask me how many of those were as a sub ,I think its a shame as he would fit into the style of play rogers wants and means we don't have to spend more money on another player

That would be a shame as he has looked bright in some of the pre-season games. Dont think he got a fair chance under previous managers.

Sinclair wants to stay at Swansea beyond the olympics, should put some rumours to bed.. {Ed002's Note - He will have to sign a new contract then as Swansea are not prepared to let him run it down.}

How long is left on his contract eds? {Ed002's Note - One year.}

Let's hope he signs a new one then.

He is not goos enough for our club anyway absolutely baffles me that wer linked with a player of his low qualitys!

He does not have to sign a new contract .ant

"He is not goos enough for our club anyway absolutely baffles me that wer linked with a player of his low qualitys!"

Always baffles me that the same people how rabbit on about quality can't spell it.

03 Aug 2012 13:25:07
Eds, what are your views on the level of finances available to liverpool this transfer window. I know you have always stated that there is no "budget" as such, but do you believe that any further transfers are dependent upon the sale of Carroll?
Ie; even if Carroll stays will we be looking to recruit the likes of Dempsey & Allen or will these only go through if we get close to 20million for Andy?
Cheers eds - keep up the good work..! {Ed002's Note - Please read other similar answers.}

Ed is this the smae person that keeps asking this question but in a different way each time? It does do me head in. You are a saint ed.

I love all the just seen such an such in John Lennon airport posts and they alwas make me laugh but just had a text from the brother in law who's on a flying to barcelona and Suarez was on the flight on his own. Bit strange going on holiday without the wife and kids unless theyre already there?

The cherry picker

His wife's family live in Barcelona, no? And I don't believe it anyway!

Haha, thats even worse! The new barca manager has said he won't be strengthening his forward only his defense. Silly boy xD

This is another one of them airport stories....brilliant!!

He'd have some representatives fly with him.

I can confirm he was on the flight to barcelona.but he was with his family.my son in law who works in the airport and and my mate mike who was on the flight confirmed it.although i dont usually beleive those messages either.i will try and get the photo from my son in law.anyway i thought this was his pre season as he must have had his hols before the olympics.who knows. {Ed002's Note - All the Olympic players have had their holidays.}

Well wasnt sure about his wife that's why I said she might already be there, silly boy. 100% he was on the same Ryanair flight I'll try and get him to send a pic
The cherry picker

He might have been going on a Stag trip!

Maybe.......it wasnt him.........oh my god

The way he is playing he would be lucky to get on r team never mind barcelona.Tommy Irish Red.

Suarez did board a plane to BCN this morning on his and yes his wife is from barcelona and is most probs over there with the child to see her family

Suarez flying Ryanair? Must be broke. {Ed002's Note - Or visiting a town a couple of hundred mile from the stated destination.}

Aqua man gone according to Fiorentina. What did we get for the sook? {Ed002's Note - After costs, about nothing. It seems to be along the lines of Fiorentina will pay Liverpool 4M euros for the transfer. Liverpool will pay 200k euros to Roma and 3.4M euros to Aquilani to supplement his wages. I imagine the rest will disappear in fees. It is pretty much the "release" deal Aquilani and his agent have been trying for. You will now no doubt see a long line of abusive trolls come out and apologise to me.}

Well said Ed

Well said ED

Not an abusive troll, but if you're right this is a sad state of affairs. The message is quite clear when you loan a player out two years on the bounce to 'protect the value of that player'', you dont want that player and will do anything to shift them off the wage bill. Only hope is that Liverpool have learnt their lesson, and history won't repeat itself with Andy Carroll {Ed002's Note - I think a lot of his problems go back to arriving injured and not being able to integrate with the team.}

Why are we paying his wages then? {Ed002's Note - Because it was the only option available to move him on.}

I am afraid trolls never apologise but you have been correct all along about Aqua loani

Crap deal but at least Aquilani and his Agent can pop right of to Italy now and out of our club.

What a joke,we paid 17m loaned him out
for 2 seasons,then basicly let him go on
a free!.

We are mugs!

Just another example of how damaging Benitez was to this club.

MarkB.

We are not "mugs" we go done by Aquilani, i'm so glad we are finally rid of him, he is a joke of a player anyway.

We ARE mugs!! Aqualani never asked to be bought for a big fee did he? How many times have we bought players for ridiculous fees and never got the best out of them? We get screwed all the time - £20 mil Downing - £20 Henderson - £35 mil Carroll (who will probably move on in next few days for next to nothing!), probably lose Sterling etc But we'll be alright cos we'll buy JOE ALLEN for £15mil!!

You miserable so and so, what were we supposed to do.Pay his full salary for another year.He and his agent stitched us up as I have said many times. Hopefully the Aqualani lovers will now see what a cheat he was.
Incidentally don't forget Rafa bought him long before FSG etc. were involved with the club.
CR

I am delighted he's gone, don't worry about the money, it's a day to rejoice that the cross eyed waste of space has left these shores.

I was so so soooo sick of people talking about how he should be in the team every summer when the guy had no interest in being here. Maybe some things didn't go for him in England, but I think it's clear to see money is his number one consideration.

I wish both him and his agent a lengthy but non life threatening bout of gastroenteritis.

Looking forward to Joe Allen signing and a bit of this passing game being transplanted into our side.

Looking forward to us shelling out 15 million on a player like joe Allen great .. Just what we need after the failures of Carroll Downing & Henderson

Well said Ed002, regarding Carrol's state when he joined the club.

I think he fealt like a fish out of water, was pushed out of a club he didn't want to leave, media crucifying him over transfer fee (like it was all HIS fault). By the time of League Cup, he was a different player, you could see he had gelled witht he team, and was looking more confident. Was he worth £35 mill, no - but I do think he will come good. I hope he doesn't leave 'Pool, but I'm not sure how he will fit in with BR's style - but as BR said himself - the players you have dictate how you play. If the tiki-taka isn't working, maybe having AC as a different attacking option may win a few games. Horses for courses and all that.

BTW Ed002 - I'm always looking out for your comments, brings real balance to so many of these posts.

Aquilani gone to Fiorentina finally it seems (confirmed by Della Valle). I'd be happy for them to reciprocate with Vargas or (FootballManager) Jovetic

The Italian press today say that Suarez has had enough and the latest round of disapproval from football supporters in the country has led him to consider his future. Calciomercato say he wants to leave the country and that Juventus, who have been keeping an eye on him since he was at Ajax, are ready to offer asylum in Serie A.

Wouldn't be surprised, the way he is being treated is disgusting.

MansfieldRED

And that's why he congratulated the team on their win last night and appeared to be very keen to join them soon. he is a professional and should be capable of dealing with the treatment by the media and some quarters of fans.

I've read through a lot of the txt related to Suarez on the Juve part of that site and can only find references to Juve being interested in him along with Jovetic, Van Persie and Dzeko (standard). I only know of this rumour thorugh Annie Eaves and her website Sporting Witness...Annie is by and large a Man Utd fan and has never held back on any Suarez/ LFC related nonesense but if anyone can dig out the story from the website that would be sound. I could've missed it but thought I'd try put it into a bit of context as I haven't seen it reported anywhere else.

Emlyn

How would the italian press know that and nobody else

I am led to believe he wants to stay and show the country they were all wrong about him.

Yes, and the Italian supporters are known to be so kind...

Champion - get rid of him. He's the only player we could make a hefty profit on but no doubt we'll give him away or agree to some ridiculous payment plan. He's a liability albeit great player

I was at Millenium Stadium game on Wednesday night and the booing was disgraceful, particularly during the Urugay national anthem. It wouldn't be a surprise to me if he decided he'd had enough. The guy has been villified, the FA should be ashamed with themselves. {Ed002's Note - I rather doubt it was the FA booing.}

The booing on wednesday was shocking!! For me he's a grait player thats been vilerfied by the press and i'dd love him to stay at liverpool.

LUIS SUAREZ is not a type of a guy who will shy away or back off...in such a situation. he enjoys such challenges.

Sadly only a matter of time might be best for all concerned

He wont give a toss if he annoys opposition fans , let em boo him , our fans love him and thats all that matters

Sad how many people rise to the BS posts from other clubs supporters. Suarez will sign a new contact very soon or my name isn't "the man who is drafting Luis's new contract."

Italian press says nothing of the sort. A crappy website says so. The Italian equivalent of tribalfootball.

been listening to Graham Beecroft this morning who is normally a reliable source on Merseyside. He says LFC really need to get rid of Andy Carroll to finance other moves. To be honest it really is looking that way as he have no action in the transfer market.

It is not negativity but clubs in and around seem to be buying quality and we appear to be getting left behind.

I agree, we really seem to be being left behind in the transfer market. I really hope I'm wrong but things really looking a little worrying we need to bring in at least three players, maybe more depending on departures. I realise that things are going on behind the scenes but all I see lately is rumours of our best players leaving and not much in the way of new signings. Lets hope things become clearer soon.

Would think that this is spot on. If we can see the improvements in big Andy at the end of last season then so can Rogers. He has pinpointed AC as a highly valuable dispensible asset. If we get 17mill for him, that would be perfect. I love AC but we need that 17mill and I'd rather get it from his leaving (when he can't really fit into our system) than to lose someone like Agger or worse Suarez. Sometimes you have to cut loses and it is evident that we need to sell to buy. We may have money but not enough.

And anyone claiming that Dempsey and Allen are in the same vain as Poulson and Konchesky need their heads checked. Allen will be a great addition. Need someone who can hold the ball and tick things over. All of the latter half of last season I couldn't get over how weak our midfield was and how little cohesion we had. No one looking for the ball, no one trying to make things happen. In Allen we will get someone who will tick things over and hold up posession in the middle of the park. Someone who will pick it up deep and progress the play rather than always passing it back.

Its funny how one seemingly bad purchase, and this is a bad purchase no matter how you paint it, can pull you so far behind in the transfer market.

If we'd had waited till the summer before buying a striker we would have had 50 mill to look for decent young talent. Instead we jumped the gun and now we're paying severely for it

A couple of million for a loan deal is hardly gonna shake things up!

Is that the same beaky who said the two cowboys were going to sell to DIC within a week. I don't believe a word that comes out his mouth

" I realise that things are going on behind the scenes but all I see lately is rumours of our best players leaving and not much in the way of new signings. Lets hope things become clearer soon. "

I agree with you. Although (maybe I'm being optimistic) but I think that Liverpool are keeping things rather tight. And papers have run out of people to link us with as there are two signings seemingly iron clad that are just slowly going through for whatever reason. Hence why they have turned their attention to linking our players with departures. AC will go, just a matter of when and how much. I genuinely do believe though that we will sign Allen, Dempsey and hopefully one other. At the minimum. Anything else would be a bit of a disaster as the current stock is awful unfortunately. Henderson again was so poor last night. He's a good footballer but he doesn't try. It's as if he's scared of the ball. He will get the ball and make the easiest pass. No belief at all. And then he never looks for a pass either. Often he just stands there and when he makes runs, they are never inviting for a pass. If he was more confident and had more belied, he could be quality. There's a reason KD played him so often. The boy has ability but no belief... He was awful last night

We're a club in decline, we were left behind 20 years ago, we should have had a new stadium built years ago, no good cryin about it now,

It's a bit of season suicide to wait as long as we have to close down deals. Sigurdsson should have been in (he's currently better than anything we have in mid except Stevie and Lucas), there's NO reason why Dempsey shouldn't be signed already, Allen hopefully after Olympics but we could still try and do it during if we really wanted to. Bellamy needs to stay, Adam/Spearing/Carroll need to go.

And we need to be after a big time striker like Muller from Munich or Higuian I understand it's ambitious but we are desperate for someone of that caliber. I really hope the "big loan signing" is Muller/Tevez/Adebayor someone that big who can score goals when they want. Happy we have Borini but he's not going to score more than 10 goals next season as he's still only 21 and unproven.

I'll have to see the loan signing to believe it. Seems like wishful thinking to me, personally. Can't see it being Muller or Higuain anyway, definitely not. No chance they would leave for LFC. Major step back for them at this stage. We BADLY need to CL... Took the worst possible time to go into a slump with Spurs proving to be growing in stature on the field and also off it. Newcastle, I doubt they'll hit the highs of last season. Arsenal should never be wrote off, can see them up there for 4th place without a shawdow of a doubt. It's scary to think that we're not even sure if we can challenge for 4th place.

We had Sigurdsson but didn't want to pay his wage demands. Which is good. That's what is hurting us now, crazy wages sanctioned in the past. Aquilani 125k a week like... I hope that it was a case of us not wanting to be rather than being unable to pay. Hard to know what to believe from BR tbh. Love the man but a lot of what he says is not what he means.

Dempsey will be signed late, Liverpool are playing the slow game on that so Fulham lower their price: again fair enough.

Allen I hope is sewn up ASAP. Need him far more.

That the problem with fans these days, you all want instant success. Moaning about missing out on average player from Seria A.

When you say we are getting left behind who are you referring to?

We certainly aren't competing with the Champions league clubs this year that for sure.

If Everton and Fulham start out bidding us for players then that's when i will get concerned.

Dan

I agree to the inactivity is really worrying regarding transfers it really is. Never b4 have I heard so many of our star players being linked with moves away b4 and this time I feel we could lose reina agger skrtel Suarez and aswell as Carroll being forced out. If then players went god knows were we'll end up finishing. I like what Rodgers has to say in interviews and his philosophy and back him 100% but something with the players seems wrong alot seem really unhappy

Havent we apparently accepted a 2 mill loan move? how would 2 mil drastical make a differance to our transfer budget. Dempsy allen and one more maybe if not we will go for other options. all this hype about transfer funds is just fans starting to panic. fsg and Br know what they are doing.

R2tB.

The only thing that concerns me is how much we got fleeced last year in the transfer market. We brought Commoli in to negotiate the deals and he got well and truly rinsed on the fees paid for Henderson, Downing and Carroll. Players from abroad are far better value, the premium paid for British talent just isn't worth it. That's why I want to see us go for players like Afelley, Ramirez, Sissoko, Amorebieta, rather than Allen and the likes

Good thread. I am worried but lets see what happens over the next couple of weeks. I think Allen, if we get him will be an asset and we need more cover in the wide roles.

I think we lack a bit of backbone as a team because we have too many players who go into their shell when things get tough. I'm not necessarily after superstars or a new captain but players that find a way to win and act as inspration to others.

Pompey Red

Oh no we haven't signed 11 galacticos it's the end of the world...

Seriously, people need to stop playing FIFA and join the real world. We aren't in the champions league this season and we aren't owned by oil barons so we can't compete with Chelsea or City.

We will make signings and clear out the dead wood (yet again).

Whoever commented about the stadium not being built 20 years ago was spot on, we missed the boat there, lets hope FSG expand Anfield a lot or give the go ahead for the new stadium.

In the mean time lets count down the days until the start of the new season!

Gaz1975.

My cat knows more of the goings on at LFC than Beeky. Mad as Motson

Give the young lad a chance ffs when he was laying well last season and seemed to score kenny dropped him how is that gonna buil the young lads confidence and most importantly its not his fault that comolli and others splashed 35 mill on him if we got him for ten mill the lad would of been amazing by now trust me keep him when hes on form hes unplayable!

I know its easy to blame Comolli for Liverpools signings last year under Daglish - But Kenny was the one choosing ALL the players....

Would BR have turned Carroll away from Swansea last year? Seriously doubt it. So what's changed and who does he think he can attract to Anfield?

Carroll is mediocre at best and Rodgers is right to get rid of him. Danny Graham scored far more than Carroll last season so yes Rodgers probably would have turned the donkey away.

Anyway, Beecroft is wrong.

It sounds to me from all the various threads and other sources that few will leave. I don't think Skrtl, Or Agger will go, or Suarez, or even Carrol (although of all of those he would admittedly be most likely - but not 'cause he's a bad player, just the wrong type, although I'd like to see him stay). Aqua(already gone?) and perhaps Adam on their bikes, I do think there is a good chance Allen, (but not Dempsey, or Sinclair) will join, and very maybe Ramirez.

A lot of players have turned their nose up at LFC due to money issues or personal ambition - Siggurdson. It is an uneasy time for LFC - new (unproven) manager, and philosphy. Don't think LFC are in decline, just turbulent - but foundations - new owners & hopefully right manager can bring stability. If we are back in CL next year, we will attract bigger names.

I do think the mystery loan signing will be Kaka (Mourhino link) Villa, or (hopefully not) Adebayor - if there is any truth to it at all.

C'mon you Reds.

03 Aug 2012 10:17:07
I have a good source that the player on loan is Dzecko, Mancini doesnt want to sell him coz he thinks he stil has a lot to offer hence why a loan deal is the best option and agger will be going the other way trust me

So we try to get rid of Carroll so we can replace him with a Carroll clone Dzecko,

Your a spoofer lad, grow up!

Jay

Finishing your waffle off with "trust me" doesn't make it any less nonsensical.

Never trust a man who says trust me!

"Trust me," I find that people who say that are generally: used car salesmen, politicians, deviants, and trolls.

Coley

@reply1, Dzeko is a thousand times better player than Donkey Carroll. He's got a better 1st touch, better positional sense, better speed, better passing & more trickery than our £35m donkey. Dzeko provides a lot more than Carroll.

THE SUMON VAI

Agger has already said he aint going, let alone Man s***ty

What I don't understand is why people take the bait and respond to posts that are obviously bs? Just ignore it, then eventually these losers will all jump in a hole

Dzecko is quality just hasn't had the game time so shut it comparing him to carroll best fing Carroll is gud 4 is the grand national

This would be an awful deal for us. Not that Dzeko isn't good, but our defense without Agger is a joke.

Agree with Sumon Vai 100%
Dzeko did a lot with very limited playing time,he's "goal per minute" ratio is one of the best in Europe and overall game contribution is way better then AC .

It will be a winger

The person who think Carroll and Dzeko are anything alike is a moran.

Dzeko is ten times the footballer Carroll is and also a completely different style of player. Much more skillful, much better on the ground, has great movement and runs off defenders brilliantly. Carroll on the other hand is decent in the air and crap at everything else.

Dzeko would be a great signing, ideal for Rodgers system. Basically a much better version of Danny Graham.

Agger's going nowhere though.

Hi eds just wondering what the score is with rondon now that Malaga are selling some of there star names thanks great work .db {Ed002's Note - Spurs are looking at doing a "cheap" deal if they can.}

And liverpool sleeping as always.

03 Aug 2012 09:08:26
Rondon would definitely be worth a punt at £10m! Especially if Andy is moving on.

RedSG

We can't afford a "Punt" we will never have a "punt" on anyone.

Jake

Im in south africa so i cant come have a sit in at melwood, but can u guyz in england make a bee line there and beg rodgers to sign rondon. he can do everything rodgers wants and retain an aerial threat. plz Br get Rondon, sell whoever but get Rondon

03 Aug 2012 08:49:33
Eds is there still interest in Rondon? Do you know of any other forwards (exclude Dempsey, Sinclair etc) we are interested in?

Red Rout {Ed002's Note - Spurs are right on top of Rondon this week, trying to get a cut price deal as the club failed to sell by July 31. Whether or not they wioll be successful we will see. Beyond what we already know, Liverpool's buying will likely be driven by departures and of course we still have the "major star on loan" to be unmasked - perhaps he is a striker.}

Do we have to sell to buy ed? {Ed002's Note - Not as such, the point being if players depart and there is no cover in the squad then the club will look to the market - as they are doing. But do not be foolked in to thinking their are endless funds available because there isn't.}

The main issue is the wages though isn't it ed? The likes of cole, aquilani and co - their wages don't represent their their ability or place in our squad. {Ed002's Note - Wages are a significant consideration, yes.}

03 Aug 2012 11:16:01
Ed002 - are you so sure Macca is correct about this? Not saying he isn't, but you seem to take this for granted. Saying that, I would love the two of you to be correct...

Erik_Oslo {Ed002's Note - I am not sure what exactly you are questioning. Macca said the club were interested in Allen and he is absolutely correct. DEmpsey and Sinclair were not raised by Macca.}

There wont be a star loan

Morning eds. rahem sterling being unsettled at Liverpool. Is there any truth in the story or just poor journalism? Thanks {Ed002's Note - There have been rumours for some months that both Spurs and QPR would be interested in taking him back to London. If I recall correctly the rumours began when some buddy of his said he was missing London and perhaps there was a "girl trouble" issue kicking around. If he has said anything to the club about wanting a move then perhaps they will make him aware of enquiries. Otherwise I expect that Liverpool will not be looking to sell be looking to offer him a new contract once he turns 18.}

Sterling has ........... That's why he's been pushed straight into the first team squad full time {Ed002's Note - We have to be careful what we say about his situation but he cannot be in the first team squad "full time" before he is 18.}

I have heard that he wants to move from the area because of mult-gerational woman trouble. {Ed002's Note - We have to be careful what we say about his situation.}

He is now cup tied in the EUROPA league. That tells me we have no plan to sell. {Ed002's Note - Not necessarily - players can still play for a second team in the Europa League if their original side is knocked out in the preliminary rounds.}

Ed's, why must we be careful about what we say about his situation? {Ed002's Note - THis is a public forum and we have to abide but rules and regulations and avoid

Because lawyers and such like would not think twice about slapping a gagging order on the site and effectively banning anything at all about him from being published. That's why the Eds have to tread carefully. RED LENIN

In his first interview on liverpoolfc.tv he said "his family has now moved to liverpool" whereas previously the rumpled where that he wanted to go back to London as he was missing his fam. Suso is "looking for a house in Liverpool" presumably he can now afford on due to the contract he will be signing soon!

I dare say that IF he became available then there will be more clubs than Spuds and QPR interested

He wouldn't be a great loss in any event. It's as clear as the days long that the final balls not there. Another Lennon if you ask me. He has pace and that's it. His centre of gravity and balance isn't he same as Messi and his football skills certainly aren't on a par. His size would be an issue at senior level given that he relies purely on speed.

Ed any chance of raul albiol if a cb is sold gets no game time at real and is quality.thanks
Jay {Ed002's Note - It is very unlikely he will move this summer but if Albiol is available both Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain will be interested. Liverpool's interest in a centre back is elsewhere.}

Albiol is muck.

hey eds.. any truth in the christian atsu rumors by any chance. always appreciated. cheers {Ed002's Note - I am aware of there being rumours from Africa but unaware of anything to support them. He is a young raw talent who has spent a year playing in the second level in Portugal. I would doubt he would hit the ground running and be in the first team at Liverpool that easily.}

Us, everton and spurs interested. Mentioned in Portuguese (sp?) newspaper and valued at 10m. {Ed002's Note - 10M seems a lot for him. Has he had his debut for Porto yet?}

I wouldnt post a rumour if I thought it was rubbish but this is genuine.De Jong and Adam Johnson to sign for Liverpool with Agger going the other way. This will happen before the end of the window. Liverpool cant complete the signing Joe Allen until hes back from the Olympics and Spurs have also been in talks with Swansea so Brendans looking on De Jong instead.young sterling will feature next season. hes been heavily involved in pre season and reminds me of John Barnes. Kags YNWA

If Agger leaves for the Citehhhh..... Then, BYE.

Obviously you arent gonna give your source away but by saying "I wouldnt post if it wasnt true" does not mean its real or believable! Player swaps rarely happen, let alone 3 players involved.

BR is patient and will wait it out for Allen, we already Stevie, Lucas, Adam, Henderson, Shelvey & Spearing for centre midfield roles so doubt he would rush out and buy De Jong (plus they are completely different players for starters).

I agree with likeness to Barnes however playing pre-season means nothing, Aquilani featured heavily last season and young Coady was a main attraction last pre-season but didnt make the tour! Lets give our youth a bit of a chance to develop, BR will nuture them and is the best person to have around young players as he knows how to handle and develop them.

I like Adam Johnson but think Downing deserves his chance and think there are better options available for better value.

JonBoy6

Sterling looking good enough to get some involvement this season and I think he must, otherwise he may look for a way out.

HAHA whats the chances of this happening AFTER the window closes.

Sterling like Barnes? I would have thought he was the closest thing to Steve McManaman we've had since the guy left! :)
Cheers,

Looks more like Shaun Wright Philips

Since sounds like utter rubbish. Did a fat bloke in the pub tell you this rumour?

De jong instead of allen. Allen is a creative midfielder and de jong is a defensive midfielder. Why would we looking at de jong instead?
Utter rubbish

Tottenham and Liverpool target Ibrahim Afellay is set to leave Barcelona after his agent revealed he is interested in a loan move.

Chances? Is this the mystery loan signing?! {Ed002's Note - It looks like Barcelona will now make him available. Dortmund and Schalke have a declared interest in the player and Italy looks like another option available to him (although Inter have said they are no longer interested). There may be interest from the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs and Newcastle. A move to Lille has already been rejected.}

I don't like he is good indeed. When I watched he played for Netherland during the Euro, he was like playing alone but not in a team...

03 Aug 2012 08:42:05
Afellay is a "major star"? i don't think so. good player for sure, but "major star"?

02 Aug 2012 23:49:43
Hi eds, do you think we're interested in Atsu from Porto? {Ed002's Note - There has been some speculation from the African press about "interest" in Atsu but there is nothing to suggest any confirmation of it. It strikes me as unlikely with his only experience being in the second tier of Potuguese football.}
