Matip out for the season according to ssn. I know he's not everyone cup of tea but it's a blow none the less. Gomes out as Well leaves only klavan to cover lovren and vvd.

yes, that's two defenders out for some very important games, both a bit fragile for my liking,
maybe this will push Klopp to buy a class defender in the summer .

Klavan is out as well and can is usually the worst case scenario to fill in at CB (also injured) can't afford an injury to VVD or Lovren now.

cover wise not good but matip is a liability and leaves TAA under pressure when he should use his experience to cover the young fullback watch the highlights of goals against coming down our right and matip is always pushed up out of the line and TAA is left without any CB to cover the inside. Lovren is actually better at this and I personally think gives TAA more confidence. Gomez will be back soon anyways.

Exactly JC23! Matip is a big liability and is slow and seems to have lost a lot of confidence since being dropped/ sharing game time.
We definitely need another top CB. I don't think Gomez will get a lot og game time at CB.
