James Pearce has a few minutes ago claimed that we are close to signing both Moreno and Manquillo in a double deal that looks set to break the 100 mill mark. Great business by the Reds, am looking so forward to this season!

Believable55 Unbelievable13

I'm seeing quite a few reports on those two signing now so looks like it might be true. I'm my opinion Moreno would be a great signing, haven't heard much of the other fullback though

Agree2 Disagree1

They're both ment to be the future of the Spanish full back positions.

Sounds like good news but can't help but feel sorry for players like Kelly and Flanagan.

Agree5 Disagree1

I hope if this happens it means the end of Johnsons time with us and if possible Enrique as much as I feel he would be a useful squad player. I'd rather Flanagan get a chance at left back and Kelly at right back for the season.

Agree3 Disagree0

These two come in and that should be job done. If we have a fair few players make an exodus, we'd be financially stable, filled with experience and youth, and everyone would be fighting for their place in the squad. The squad should be robust enough that a great player should be waiting in the wings every single game.

Mignolet, Reina, Jones
Flanagan, Johnson (out?), Manquillo, Kelly
Sakho, Lovren, Skrtel, Agger (out?), Coates (out?), Toure (out?), possibly Jones
Enrique, Moreno, Robinson (out?)
Markovic, Lallana
Henderson, Can, Gerrard, Lucas
Sterling, Coutinho, Ibe
Sturridge, Lambert, Borini (out?)

Add Bony and I think we finish top four easily enough. Someone big is going to slip, however -- pray that its United, Everton and Tottenham once again! We have a squad, even without another striker, that can beat the top teams around Europe. Just need to keep our core healthy and ride the tide of confidence that started last year. Can't wait to see our first 11 against Southampton!

I agree, so far we have done really good work in transfer window but I am not convinced with these two, especially with Manquillo. I think Flanagan is better than him anyway and if we manage to offload Johnson, Kelly is more than capable to play there, too. I don't know what to think about Moreno, from what I have seen he is improvment on Enrique, but Ed002 thinks he would be mistake so I am little worried about him, too. But hey, let's give them a chance

Agree0 Disagree1

Sorry cannot agree with all the Kelly support. Has gone backwards since his injury and is no better than Johnson

hi eds what's the latest on viktor fischer is he available and have we held any interest in him

Believable4 Unbelievable6

{Ed002's Note - A move to Spain with Atletico is one possibility for Viktor Fischer.}

31 Jul 2014 21:01:42
If they get Bakkali and Fischer, they will have a hell of a pipeline of wingers. Scary (assuming we're still in a position where we could play them in the next few years)

Agree3 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - They have people leaving.}

Don't know how true this is but apparently Seville are more willing to negotiate for Moreno now as they are having difficulties trying to find a replacement for Rakitic(who went to Barca) with their current funds available

Believable51 Unbelievable14

I really hope that's true. :)

Agree4 Disagree0

We can sell them Joe Allen.

Is a keeper still on the agenda this summer, even as a low priority for now?

Believable10 Unbelievable23

My guess is if only Reina were to go. We don't need four senior GKs. Also PR is on high wages.

I'd like to see him get a preseason game and if he is staying a clean slate. Jones is reliable but nothing more than backup/3rd. We've seen him in preseason now, know what he can do. Let's see now if Pepe still has it, or not.

Agree2 Disagree0

Absolutely no chance of a clean slate for Reina. If you were Rodgers would you give him a second chance after he openly praised a former manager and said he was better than you? Reina has brought this all upon himself by thinking Barca were going to come in for him, he has completely burned any chances of playing for us ever again, unless Mignolet and Jones get injured at the same time and Rodgers is forced into playing him.

Agree3 Disagree1

If we are wanting to keep Pepe then I'd have thought we'd have seen him in one or two of the pre city games.

You'd have thought that if we were trying to show that we're prepared to hang onto Pepe, we'd have played him too.

By not playing him, it just shows BR does not want him and that will be reflected in any bids.

Agree2 Disagree0

I don't disagree Scarface. But if he is not going, then I would clear the air and yeah clean slate.
His comments were poor and I don't doubt what Rodgers is doing in shunning him, but if no buyers then wasting £100k a week when he could be useful is pointless. I think he is a better option then Jones

I am told we are set to reenter negotiations with Sevilla following Bertrand's loan to Southampton.

If we r aspas is doing all he can to tell him to stay away from Liverpool.

Agree5 Disagree1

Hope so . rate moreno highly

Yeah Tommy, can't see a welcome way back for Aspas. if there was ever one.
No class.

Apparently Markovic is out for 6 months?
Is this true?!

MailSport reported it. I hope they're lying.

Agree0 Disagree2

Well it showed him walking past during a Brendan Rodgers interview yesterday before the game in the stadium.

I wouldve thought if he had there would be news everywhere about it.

Agree1 Disagree0

It's a fake account on twitter. absolute rubbish

Brendan said him and skrtel had slight knocks its not Harry kewell were on about here.

Agree1 Disagree0

Rhubarb!
It's a minor knock, BR left him out for safety. He said so himself.

Any updates on outgoings?

Believable9 Unbelievable8

31 Jul 2014 11:45:25
LFC have a tendency to do most of their outgoings after all they have done their incoming business 1st

Agree1 Disagree1

Agger is out the door, he's 1/3 to go to Barca. I suspect Assaidi will finally go when Stoke fork up the 7 mil.

Agree1 Disagree0

You'd have to think.
Assaidi
Borini
Agger

With maybe's being
Toure
Kelly or Johnson
Lucas (although I hope not. Not just good player, but also important figure in the dressing room)
Reina

Agree0 Disagree1

I agree with the above. Borini hopefully the money in would be a great return for a terribly average player whos a mid table team player at best. Toure is a gonner if we find someone. Lucas rumours I heard I agree he's vital to keep good team guy and a defensive midfielder like him could be vital to close out some big games. Kelly will stay I think, although its a make or break season for him. Reina needs to go considering his wages! Johnson i'd sell for anymoney. he's on 90k a week and can't defend! Surely there are more cost effective (moneyball) options

Hey eds,
Thanks for your fine work, like usual.
Any word of Alex Sandro from Porto?
Thought I recalled one of you saying that we have been in contact?
Cheers.

Believable12 Unbelievable2

{Ed001's Note - all I know is we asked about him. Porto usually ask for big fees, so he will probably be overpriced, unfortunately.}

It seems as if you rate him highly ed

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I saw a lot of potential in him, when I watched him play a number of times as a youngster. I haven't seen him recently, but Porto's record on youth development would suggest he will have come close to achieving the potential there. He is 23(?) I think, so a good age to really come good and hit top form, but not too old to be unable to adjust to fit our system.}

He is 23 ed

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - thanks.}

31 Jul 2014 13:51:00
Ed1 do you rate his team-mate Danilo? Albeit from youtube and FM I rate them highly as a full back partnership!

Agree0 Disagree2

{Ed001's Note - not seen a lot of him sorry.}

As ed001 rightly said Porto have one of the best records for developing young players, I rate Sandro and Danilo very highly, perhaps Danilo slightly more as he is quicker than Sandro which is pretty important for modern fullbacks.

I am certain that we would not meet Porto's asking price as they are notoriously high for most of their talent. Perhaps if Suso was still 'for sale' then we maybe could have come to an agreement, but it looks likely that he'll stay and fight for his place.
