It was dead in the water af 10pm apparently

Believable15 Unbelievable4

It was dead as soon as ayre landed in the Ukraine

Agree0 Disagree0

Looks like the transfer committee works really well. Hate to sound pessimistic but our squad needs strengthening and really could have boosted us for the next few months. Let's hope everyone stays fit!

Agree1 Disagree1

01 Feb 2014 00:09:11
Sorry if I'm wrong but the rumour is although a release clause was met the president refused to sign the relevant paperwork (ssn) if that's true surely this is a case for FIFA to investigate?

Agree0 Disagree0

It was dead in the water 3 days ago when ayre landed!

Agree2 Disagree0

31 Jan 2014 23:17:57
Quote from the a web site pages:

Because Yevhen Konoplyanka is an international deal Liverpool have an extra hour to file the paperwork. But there's still no word from Liverpool.

Not over yet then? Is that true eds?

Believable13 Unbelievable12

{Ed001's Note - that is correct but it does seem it is completely dead.}

31 Jan 2014 23:29:05
Ian Ayre is an absolute joke. With him in charge of all transfer dealings we won't get any deals done. He has to go!

Agree7 Disagree4

So I wait for another half an hour, maybe, just maybe something changes.

Agree1 Disagree0

Joke deals off :(

Agree1 Disagree1

Deal is most definately off

Agree1 Disagree1

Get to bed mate - no point wasting another hour - it's clear the club can't afford to buy at the upper end of the market

Agree1 Disagree1

31 Jan 2014 23:45:45
last week it was salah, if the truth be known nobody had heard of him prior to this, we didn't get him and he went to London, so what? Then kolo came on the scene and again few had heard of him either, its not as if he was a craig Johnston was it, there's a lot of 'why didn't we sign him about players most of us have not heard of, a little perspective please before giving flack to people who saved the club from administration, these people are trying to make the club healthy not put it back to the days of gillett and hicks,

Agree2 Disagree0

01 Feb 2014 00:00:08
Of course it's off. If the club values 21 y. old Salah 8M, do you believe it values 24 years old, who has never played on a big level, twice? Sadly we missed great talent for a cheap price and we failed to cover the positions we mainly need to - left back and central/def midfielder. Really disappointed.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not a fan of Ayer but Apparently Ayer did do his job and the medical was good and there club president refused to sign the paper work!

Agree2 Disagree0

Redeamo, I mostly agree with you, we should trust in management and let them go on doing their business as best they can. The club has only seen progress since Rodgers came in and the future looks a lot brighter than 2 years ago. However, we identified a transfer target, went after him, convinced him that Liverpool is right for him, agreed on the money with his club and yet he is not signed. If this is down to Dnipro's owner not wanting to sign the deal, there's nothing we could do about it. If it's down to us not being able to agree on an acceptable payment plan it's terrible time management on our side. We've had enough time to go in for both Salah and Kono or a 3rd player in time, but we've left it too late.

Agree1 Disagree0

31 Jan 2014 23:12:32
Deal off! I don't believe it. Is this true Ed?
Cheers,

Believable14 Unbelievable7

{Ed001's Note -it seems so.}

Classic
The Committee do know the window is a month long?

Agree2 Disagree0

What can you say about are club?
same old story but bet we sign few more poor players in the summer

Agree2 Disagree0

Welcome victor moses!

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jan 2014 23:13:22
ssn say the deal looks to be off

Believable14 Unbelievable5

Is this true ed

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - I can't find anyone who even disputes it, so it must be true. I was hoping it was just being kept quiet.}

Actually everyone is saying that. Damn I really wanted that boy :/

Agree1 Disagree0

Useless salah now konoplyanka rest of the league laughing at us no signings sorry but can't see us finishing top 4 with such a small squad

Agree2 Disagree2

Great job Ian Ayre.half a week in the Ukraine and still couldn't agree a fee! Clubs getting deals done in a matter of hours and we can't do one out of two deals in a month.

Agree2 Disagree0

31 Jan 2014 23:29:48
Getting beyond a joke with Liverpool fc now, means now that in summer we probably spend 5, 6, 7m on crap players because that's who will sign instead of 1 good player for 15-20m

Agree1 Disagree0

Redgary - Stop being so negative, just because we didn't sign one player doesn't completely banish our hopes of top 4. Depth isn't really something needed desperately at this moment in time (will obviously be needed if we do finish in the top 4)considering the fact we're only in the FA cup. Just don't so how you can disregard all the good football we've been playing to get to where we are because of failure to capture 1 signing. Onwards and upwards I say.

Agree2 Disagree0

01 Feb 2014 00:08:08
Negative, so you would rather us buy another aspas, Alberto, etc with so called "potential" than buy a top quality player for quality money because that what's been happening, we have a decent squad but need more top quality players,

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jan 2014 23:12:50
Damian comolli confirms the deal for kono is off!

Believable12 Unbelievable7

31 Jan 2014 23:08:09
Deal not gone through guys. Initial payment plan rejected.

Ian Ayre will be moved sideways I reckon in the summer.

Believable23 Unbelievable4

31 Jan 2014 23:14:36
ssn. Konoplyanka staying put.

I hope this isn't a case of a Liverpool penny pinching again!

Agree4 Disagree0

3 days to sort a deal and nothing comes of it once more. Ayre is a disgrace

Agree6 Disagree1

Absolute joke if this hasn't happened. I personally still think we'll have enough for 4th but it's not about that for me it's about doing business quickly and Ian Ayre and his team just aren't up to it I'm afraid.

Agree4 Disagree0

Why should he be?

He will have been given instructions on how to structure a deal that he would have to stick to .

If that's not acceptable to the other club it's not his fault

Agree0 Disagree2

31 Jan 2014 23:17:33
Never mind the summer do it now

Agree1 Disagree0

F*ck so annoying! iam not getting into transfers in the future especially with pool!

Agree1 Disagree0

Oh well at least Chelsea, utd or totenham can sign him in the summer.

Agree2 Disagree0

International transfer. we have another hour yet.

Agree1 Disagree1

Great team, great position, good owners and exciting young manager. Ayre appears to be totally inept and might just cost us 4th place

Agree2 Disagree1

Not too bothered either way now to be honest, thought a DM & LB should have been priority - scoring goals isn't the problem! I'd also rather we weren't held to ransom over a possible deal. If the player wanted a move, chances are it could still happen in summer, and we'll have time to review our squad and make more reasonable signings. Trust the squad we've got, and push for CL at fortress Anfield.

Agree3 Disagree0

Completely agree, I appreciate that not all targets are easily completed but the last few weeks just seem to show how inflexible we are at securing the players we want. Really thought we would get this one but disappointed again! Cheers MR Ayer and co

Agree1 Disagree0

Apparently it has something to do with more than one agent wanting to take a cut of the transfer fee. This is just embarrassing

Agree0 Disagree1

The fact is we seem to not be able to close deals for our top targets & that's a worrying trend.

Agree1 Disagree0

Recurring problem, really hope Ayre is sacked. Should have stayed as commercial director, seems to have no clue how to organise a transfer.

Agree1 Disagree1

Surely it will be down to £'s so Ayre can only go as far as FSG will let him so it's not really his fault is it, you never know Ayre could be FSG's fall guy taking the flack instead of them, by the way it's not that I rate Ayre very highly but I think he is just restricted by FSG's policies.

Agree1 Disagree1

What is it with Liverpool and signing players we seem to take forever and let good players slip away, Ian Ayer needs to go he clearly isn't reliable enough to sign players

Agree0 Disagree0

Your right. Ian Ayre should be nowhere near transfer dealings. He's the man for promoting Liverppool in asia and that should be his main/only role. He's got great contacts there even if he's got about as much charisma as my left chuk palahniuk.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jan 2014 23:06:09
Payment holding up the deal, there is time for it to go through due to fifa struggling to cope with transfers, but I don't think this deal will go through.

Believable14 Unbelievable9

31 Jan 2014 22:52:01
Are your sources saying Konoplyanka will be done eds?

Believable4 Unbelievable10

{Ed001's Note - they haven't a clue being perfectly honest.}

Hi Eds and Reds

On a more serious note. can we still sign Kono up to the FIFA default thing. or is it now a dead deal due to it being after 11 here. what's your understanding as it stands now

atlfc70

Believable6 Unbelievable4

{Ed001's Note - it all depends on if we have submitted the paperwork in time. We will not know until someone confirms it from FIFA or the clubs confirm that no agreement was reached.}

31 Jan 2014 22:32:00
Is the dead done yet for konoplyanka

Believable13 Unbelievable17

Nothing confirmed yet

Agree1 Disagree0

31 Jan 2014 22:49:07
Ian Ayre will be out on the tiles AGAIN tmoro night if he pulls this off, with Jim White off tv joining him because he will save his day on an awful transfer deadline, but if we get this little gem good deadline for the mighty reds!

Agree1 Disagree2

According to son it's dead

Ed001 is it safe to say if the Konoplyanka deal goes through it will be the only deal?, there has been a few late rumours surely it's far too late now or could we be working on stuff the media or anyone hasn't got hold of?
Cheers Eds

Believable7 Unbelievable3

{Ed001's Note - that is it, I believe.}

Dont you jinx it eds001. he he

Agree0 Disagree0

ssn website saying KONO is having a medical right now.Just fee needs to be agreed. Don't they normally have to agree the fee before they have a medical? Something needs to happen as my partners moaning that I'm glued to my phone, plus taking the day off work to make sure I don't miss anything isn't going down well.
Ticktockticktock

Believable12 Unbelievable7

{Ed001's Note - you might want to find yourself a new partner. Have you met Benny Baller yet? I think he will be looking for a new one after tonight too.....}

I know how u feel she wants to watch a film now iv my phone glued to my hand hope something good comes of it or it will be a waste of a day off

Both parties now want the deal to go through after the player has said he really wants the move.

Believable8 Unbelievable9

31 Jan 2014 22:03:24
Only thing holding up the confirmation of the deal is the system in which international transfers are approved from.

Believable6 Unbelievable12

31 Jan 2014 21:54:38
Agreement reached €18m. Most of it up front. rest in 12 months.

Reports are saying Konoplyanka deal is done for 20 million euros. 60k a week wages, looks promising, can't say I've seen him much bit heard good things. Will be a nice lift for the squad at a critical time.

Can't see him playing Sunday so probably a place on bench for arsenal game. Don't think Sterling should be dropped played well in Everton game.

Was surprised with the reports on Chico Flores not sure on validity, Richards made sense but not going to happen. Just read reports on Susaeta too. That ones come from nowhere, am I right in thinking Susaeta plays right wing and Konoplyanka left? If so could we be going for both? Would be a real coup to sign both on deadline night.

Does anyone know if the Susaeta one has any legs? If we do got to say we'd have a great squad with real quality.

Believable5 Unbelievable15

He's a footballer. Of course he has legs.

Agree3 Disagree0

Yep, I am preety sure he has two legs :)

Agree1 Disagree0

31 Jan 2014 21:36:46
do you know if its true we were looking at chico?

Believable0 Unbelievable11

{Ed001's Note - it is not true, Swansea have confirmed that no one has made an enquiry or bid for Chico Flores. Not us or anyone else! Same with Micah Richards, it is simply not true.}

31 Jan 2014 21:35:22
With the bbc confirming a medical is being/has been done do you believe this means the deal is close? Surely Dnipro wouldn't allow a medical to take place if not.

Believable10 Unbelievable3

Ya they just mentioned that in BBC radio 5, medical has been done and they are working on the deal to be finalised

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jan 2014 21:32:49
hi Ed! is there a possibility that the deal could still happen? would be really disappointed if not.

Believable5 Unbelievable5

{Ed001's Note - it is still very much possible. It won't be dead until the window shuts.}

31 Jan 2014 21:29:20
Seeing reports of Susaeta of Bilboa. Any one know if there's anything in this?

Konoplyanka is looking almost done, could we be seeing both?

Believable6 Unbelievable6

Rodgers has gone home couple hours ago so no

Where are we with kono is it a done deal like is
Being reported? Thanks again!

Believable5 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - terms etc are agreed with the player, but we have not fully finalised details with the club. As far as I can find out anyway.}

31 Jan 2014 21:27:37
according to fnn ukraince it was Ayre dropping the offer once Spurs dropped out of the race that caused the owner to change his mind. Ayre eventually budged and looks like it will go through.

31 Jan 2014 21:13:48
Looks good all

My relative is very confident, as per last night, on Konoplyanka. Announcement any time now, (fingers crossed)

It would appear the player wanting to join LFC was the key to sway the club owner.

I am sure the player will fit in nicely, top signing IMO, pace, skill, assists, goals

Believable11 Unbelievable7

Great player me thinks too. but not sure at all this is happening! Sadly

Agree1 Disagree0

31 Jan 2014 21:09:25
Ben smith on bbc 5live just said kono has completed his medical but no confirmation on anything else
In Buck we trust!

Believable10 Unbelievable5

He didn't say that, did he? I am listening to the radio and must have missed that. He agreed terms but that's all I thought

Agree1 Disagree0

31 Jan 2014 21:07:56
Hi eds, forgive me for not mentioning Kono in this post but BBC reporting that Barca are signing Stegen to replace Valdes, just wondering where that leaves Pepe?

Believable7 Unbelievable3

{Ed001's Note - if Rafa is still at Napoli, it is likely he will join them on a perm.}

Ed001 a perm would not suit reina at all!

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - oh I don't know, I think he would look cute.}

31 Jan 2014 21:05:48
FNN Ukraine (whoever they are) posted on twitter at 20:56 that the deal is 100% confirmed and that Ayre pulled off a late miracle. We'll soon see.

Believable11 Unbelievable8

Anyone got any idea who ffn Ukraine are?

Agree0 Disagree1

What did Ayre do then? Did he turn water into wine infront of the Owner or something?

Agree1 Disagree0

Or did he get out his 1977 Paul Daniels magic set and do a few tricks lol

Agree1 Disagree0

They're bull. had 200 followers 2 days ago.

31 Jan 2014 20:49:03
I've looked on that Russia 24 sport website, it didn't mention anything about Kono, even searched it in his Ukrainian name and all that came up was a Euro 2012 article. Great work Eds, almost across the line, hope you take a well deserved rest. especially if we don't sign Kono. ;)

Believable6 Unbelievable12

It is on there and says deal is complete, I even sent it to a Russian friend to translate and it confirms done deal. So many conflicting reports though, so who knows

Agree0 Disagree1

Check again. It is mentioned. If you rely on Google translate it is not easy to find. If you speak Ukrainian/Russian it is easy to find.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jan 2014 20:47:44
The Daily Star (I know) are also reporting that the deal is done. 19m euros and £58k per week.

Believable17 Unbelievable13

It's in the rumours section, it even says Starsports can't confirm its true

Agree1 Disagree0

They put up a website like saying the following

Konoplyanka, 24, has been the Reds' one and only target on deadline day.

Anfield chiefs have been busy trying to thrash out a deal before 11pm and TV station Russia-24 claim the move has been completed.

The reports suggest he will earn £58,000 a week at Liverpool. However, Starsport sources are still to confirm the news.

The deal hinges on Dnipro's billionaire owner agreeing the switch.

That has been the main sticking point of a possible transfer.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jan 2014 20:40:13
Kono will sign, player himself unofficially asked for the move and believe it or not ian ayre has worked wonders today!word from inside the club is it is a done deal

Believable18 Unbelievable16

Also heard everything is official. Announced very soon. Not sure if Assaidi has been sold to fund the extra money.

Agree1 Disagree2

Was no mention of assaidi will have to ask the eds. my understanding was assaidi couldn't be recalled in jan to be sold but not sure

Agree1 Disagree0

31 Jan 2014 20:38:16
a very respected source has informed me that Liverpool have added 3 million pounds to the add ons and the owner has accepted he will now become a Liverpool player earning 3.3 million per hour

Believable15 Unbelievable18

I hope that's 3.3 million a year not an hour

Agree1 Disagree0

3.3 million what? Yen?

Agree1 Disagree0

3.3 million per hour! That even beats Cristiano Ronaldo's wages.

Agree1 Disagree0

3.3m per hour? Smashed our wage budget there.

Agree1 Disagree0

At least people won't slate FSG for not overpaying for players ;)

Agree1 Disagree0

31 Jan 2014 21:10:31

Hope you're right Tel, but it's not looking likely at this time.

31 Jan 2014 19:51:49
Lot of rumours saying deal is done and will be announced 8.30 - 9.00 any truth eds

Believable11 Unbelievable15

{Ed001's Note - I don't know mate, it doesn't sound right though sorry.}

Ok mate thanks for work as always

Agree0 Disagree0

Fnn_Ukraine reporting that Ian Ayre and Liverpool delegation have left the deal is off Ayre offered 16million yesterday and today offered 12 million plus add ons based on appearances considering the owner of Dnipro is worth 5 billion I can imagine he told Ayre where to stick it

Agree0 Disagree2

Its taken 2-3 days to get to this point. Still no fee agreed or any clarity in how it would be paid. It would have to take a sudden change in the heart which is unlikely as we have already found out. So having got to this point in 2 days, how are we getting this done in 2 hours?

Agree0 Disagree1

lfc target konoplyanka. Everything agreed and done- just the stumbling block is how the fee is going to be paid, and if it in full or with add ons?

Yes or No ED .

Thanks

Believable11 Unbelievable10

{Ed001's Note - you heard correctly, that is why Sky said.}

Ed01, what is it with people on here just regurgitating stuff they've just heard or read on tv or whatever when we can all hear or read it! do they think they are providing a service, makes me ****** mad and I reckon it must make you scream, I don't know how you answer so much sh**e mate.

Agree1 Disagree7

Awh imagine

Agree0 Disagree0

But according to the eds that is incorrect?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it is not quite that simple, no.}

ED would you say this is reliable or just someone trying to add more fuel to the fire?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I would say they are simplifying it to make it sound more exciting.}

He did say did I hear right, obviously stating he had just heard it and wanted some sort of confirmation

Agree0 Disagree0

Alan, it is a rumour site and that is essentially what the idea is. u hear some facts or a rumour and you let people know. I think its possibly lost on you, so perhaps you should stop logging in to the site? Sometimes it is just repeating items but Eds can choose to reply or not. its people like you he is probably sick off, so hush.:.

Agree2 Disagree1

Explain please

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I am told that the deal is not as close as Sky are making it appear. They are just trying to make it seem more exciting so Liverpool fans don't switch off Jim White.}

So Ed001, we have basically agreed how much we will pay, the player is keen on the move, but we can't agree on how the fee is paid? Is that about right, or is it more complicated then that?

Really hope we can push this one over the line.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - there are more complications than that, such as agent's fees and who pays them.}

Ahh ok Ed001. Thanks mate.

Hi Ed I've got to take my hat of to you mate and your doing a great job. I know you must have your hands full so I make my question very simple sir yes or no answer will do .

I heard that the club wants 20mill for Konoplyanka do you think Liverpool will pay that much for him?

Thanks again for all your hard work

Believable2 Unbelievable3

{Ed001's Note - it is not the overall price that is the issue.}

By all accounts the fee is agreed it's just the payment terms causing the issue. The owner of the club who kono plays for is a v wealthy individual and he is demanding full payment rather than installments which is Liverpools preferred way to pay for the deal.

Agree1 Disagree0

Ed would it not be better to overpay at this stage after signing no one? and do you think the club will walk away if the price is above our valuation or pay up and get our man ala Sakho? Cheers

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I don't think overpaying is ever a good idea, unless you are willing to overpay every time. I have no idea if we can pay it all in one go, I am not convinced the club has that much ready cash to hand. Before the recession, clubs would make use of very short term loans to allow them to complete deals such as this. Nowadays those loans are simply not available as an option.}

31 Jan 2014 18:51:02
Bbc saying deal not dead yet. All efforts are going into the kono deal but no others.

Believable8 Unbelievable4

{Ed001's Note - they genuinely want to keep him.}

So I'm guessing that's it for this window Ed?
Cheers,

{Ed001's Note - looks that way.}

Ah well, disappointed a little because we're the only ones who haven't added anyone. To lighten the mood a little Ed is there anyone you would tip to be promoted to the first team from the academy in the next few weeks?
Cheers.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - no mate, I don't expect anyone new to be moved up for anything other than training.}

Such a load of bs. if the owner didn't want to sell this would have been made clear from the start.typical Liverpool dragging there heals over the price and as a result the owner has probably lost patience with the negotiations.were a joke in the transfer market of course clubs will up the price on deadline day and surely Liverpool would have known this!

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - oh don't talk soft, pure ignorance and bitterness.}

Also Ed, forgot to ask in my last post, is it a deal you could see going through in the summer?

Agree1 Disagree0

Devastating news. Before everyone starts bashing Ayre & co it seems they did everything in their power to sign him. Dealing with ukrainians seems rather difficult and unpredictable. I'm only sorry that we didn't have him as I primary target and went for him earlier as we might have been able to act to dealings rather than reacting. Then again, nothing is a certainty regarding transfers. Hope we still manage to bring someone significant in, I don't care much for Chadli though. And please let it not be a permanent transfer for Moses!

Agree1 Disagree2

Supposedly he has three agents! So one could be lying ha

Agree1 Disagree0

Sick now I really am like or ambitions are to get back into Europe u can't fight for forth on an ok team u need top player to push on Ian ayre will have some explaining to do. I'd say there all in melwood wood thinking of a good letter to write to us fans look forward to dat

Agree0 Disagree0

Which one of his four agents?

The official Dynpro website has said that terms agreed with them, they will conduct partial medical as there is not time for a full one right now, MRI etc, but the problem is his multiple agents all demanding a cut of the deal.

THis is also backed up by Russian Media.

Everyone is banging on Ayre but its fairly lear without stereotyping russians that its another case of a player having multiple dodgy agents.

Wether he signs or not, doesn't make much difference, unless BR plans on playing him at DM or CB/LB. We still come out of the window in 4th place with the same players. No europe to worry about, still well placed to finish top four.

We havnt seen much activity from Arsenal or City either, no need to panic. And they will have CL distractions.

Agree0 Disagree0

As of 5:30 this evening the club still believe he will sign.for the love of god though please not chadli!

carlitoc, would you reckon that it is impossible to fail your objective if you've tried everything within your power? If the case is, as reported, that the club owner has had a change of heart and decided today that Konoplyanka stays regardless of money offered, I think it's fair to say that Ayre did everything he could, yet we were struck by an evil dosis of force majeure. The reversed situation would be that a club bids for one of our players, Ayre & co accept the bid, the player agrees personal terms and is excited about the move - but of all of a sudden FSG refuse to sell. What could Ayre do, really? Up the bid to £20-25m? I would hope not.

Agree0 Disagree0

Surely we are going to be the laughing stock of the prem league with regards transfers again. Direct quote from konos agent, deal very very unlikely. looks like we fail. again. great news. but hardly unexpected. Fingers crossed I'm wrong

Believable26 Unbelievable24

Just on sky now the price has be set it down to how the payments are done that's what's holding the deal up

Agree0 Disagree0

Just seen this 'report' on twitter so choosing to ignore it!

Agree0 Disagree0

Wonderful news. in the negative sense.

Agree0 Disagree0

I just don't understand, 3 days of negotiations and the owner just decides now to say he doesn't want to sell? Was he not one of the first people consulted about such a deal? Something extremely strange going on here. Whether it's our transfer committee or what I don't know, but surely this isn't how a typical business transaction is carried out.

Agree0 Disagree0

Because, successfully completing a signing is too mainstream.

Agree2 Disagree0

It's not from Twitter, perhaps repeated on twitter but this is a direct quote from agent. It's not dead quite yet but is very very unlikely. I hope its not true but it does not look good. Don't forget, the owner is seriously rich and doesn't need to sell. he holds the aces and the player and father respect his wishes

Agree0 Disagree0

Let's hope those kind of comments mean that they are preparing the fans for his departure? From the selling clubs point of view, they want to make it out like they did all they could to keep him. that's what I'm hoping anyway

Agree0 Disagree0

DMT "Don't Mention Twitter" its a dirty word on here. It ****s with your brain lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Realistically no one really knows what's happening at the moment. Likelihood is we won't find out until the deadline passes and the dust settles. This euphoric/manic depressive posting is all a bit pointless and I suspect supposed to either elate/deflate whoever reads it. let's sit tight, not go crazy with worry and see what happens - not like we can do anything about it is it!?

Agree2 Disagree0

Working with Ukrainian and Russian clubs is not easy.
The owners of many clubs are dubious characters.
EVERYTHING is complicated over there, especially if you do not know how to operate.
Just look how BP got shafted when dealing with 'companies' in that part of the world
The oligarch owner has power, both fiscally and physically
Just ask Mr Abromovich

Agree0 Disagree0

It's real simple as Chelsea have proved, pay the asking price of the player job done simple agree personal terms.they must have known his worth and what Dnipro want for him so just pay up and get on with it. something seriously wrong with the way we do business

Agree1 Disagree0

Yeah it doesn't add up. Why would kono's club even be entertaining us for several days if they didn't want to sell? I smell an agent angling for more dosh

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It is the owner who does not want to sell, not the club.}

We delayed with the Salah fee, lost the player! Going to happen all over again and we will look like a laughing stock.

Agree0 Disagree0

Eds, so if the owner doesn't want to sell what the FSG is an LFC delegation doing wasting their time even travelling to the Ukraine?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - To attempt to strike a deal.}

Ed, that effectively makes our transfer policy a gamble. Instead of focussing on someone who is available we chance our hand with an owner who is adamant that he won't sell. Hopefully, the owner is just playing hardball holding out for a bigger fee, in which case if we really want the player we should pay up because at this late stage we really aren't in any position to be haggling.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jan 2014 15:38:20
Eds, if the deal is complicated and we knew it would be a race against the clock to get Kono signed up, why have we left it until so late in the transfer window to start negotiations? I despair at our transfer policy. I'm beginning to think it's set up to fail and it's just a game of charades played by the owners to make fans believe they are serious aabout competing for top players. I'm not having a rant, it's how I genuinely feel. The Arsenals, Uniteds, and even Newcastles of this world don't find it as hard as us to wrap up business.

Believable16 Unbelievable6

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool had the heart set on Salah - Konoplyanka was not first choice. I am surprised you don't recall that.}

Yes he was our No.1 target but even that was a mess. Chelsea secured him in a heartbeat while we faffed about for months. Today Arsenal have already signed a midfielder and Chelsea a defender. How come their transfers don't seem to get bogged down? They're obviously doing something we're not.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Zouma has dragged on all month. I explained what happened with Salah.}

Heart set on Salah? Not a criticism of you ed, but it didn't look like they did.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Just a smokescreen no doubt.}

Hi Redmist regarding Ed2's response, I think Liverpool will have made tentative contact with Yevhen Konoplyanka's agent. They would have had an idea as of the cost prior to bidding.
The same was with Salah, although the word is we didn't even get round to bidding. Sometimes the perceived price is a hinderance.

Committing to a target is just that, a commitment, and trying to play smart and bid on more than one player at a time, for same position can come back and bite you on the arse. You either end up not committing 100% and losing your primary target, because you are spread too thin or pissing other agents/targets/clubs off for playing them off, implying that their client isn't first choice and the player then feels insulted. Hence Clubs put their energies into one target at a time.

That's why, when a club tries for a player to fill a position, and chases 3 targets, they will have their 1, 2, AND 3. If they lose out on their 1 or 2 and get number 3 the club will then say that he was their number one target.

Konoplyanka is a number two target. If we don't get him watch for a desperate bid for someone like Tom Ince lol.

Regards

Mark

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - On the plus side Victor Moses will make his deal permanent in the summer.}

What I don't get is why we don't ensure we secure our targets. Salah would have been ours if we hadn't have haggled over a couple of million, and if we're really keen on Kono then haggling at the eleventh hour isn't really an option sincehis agent and current club know that we're up against the clock. FFS it can't be rocket science agreeing a fee for a player. Ask the price, make your offer, negotiate if needs be, and if the player is happy with the move and can agree the personals sign on the dotted line.

Agree0 Disagree0

Salah would not have been ours regardless of Chelsea. We dod not offer enough.

Believable1 Unbelievable14

{Ed001's Note - I believe he is already sorted for someone, I think it was Stoke or similar though.}

Would have thought this would be good business for city. We play the rest of the top teams and a good fullback increases our chances of taking points off the rest helping city stay clear. Obviously contract would state he doesn't play against city.

Liverpool fans, are you wondering what is happening with the Reds' attempts to sign FC Dnipro winger Yehven Konoplyanka? Here is a web site's Juliette Ferrington to tell us more:

"He is still in his press conference ahead of Sunday's game against West Brom but Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers says there is no update on deal, and that it is a little complicated.

hi eds

is hernanes a realistic possibility?
with him handing a transfer request in and all we should be snapping Lazio's hands off for him, a player of his quality isn't available very often in a January window

also, this Konoplyanka deal seems to be stumbling, something is clearly not going well as in this part of the window signings are rapid and paperwork is done without thought

de Jong or m'vila is a must buy again, we cannot expect to go on the rest of the season playing our high risk football without someone to hold and break up the play in midfield

Believable3 Unbelievable7

{Ed001's Note - no, Hernanes is highly unlikely. Paperwork always takes time, I have no idea what on earth gave you the idea that it is ever done without thought.}

Hernanes is off to Inter isn't he? Providing they can get the funds.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - yes. He has agreed a deal with them.}

Hi Eds,

Great work thus far. Is there any news of any outgoings from the First team squad or interest in any first team squad members?

Believable2 Unbelievable2

{Ed001's Note - only Aspas seems to be a possibility to leave, and only on load. Unless you count Robinson as a first team squad member? There is a possibility he will be sold.}

Is aspas looking to leave on loan or will it be permanent

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I meant to say loan, sorry.}

31 Jan 2014 12:21:30
Flanno on loan can't be true ed001?

Believable2 Unbelievable18

{Ed001's Note - I have not heard anything about him going out on loan mate, plenty of interested parties, but no word on anything being accepted.}

This has to be complete rubbish. He's our best fullback even when everyone is healthy.

Robinson

Agree3 Disagree0

Ya I can't see this even being considered either.

Agree1 Disagree0

Total drivel! We're down to the bare bones with fullbacks and Flanagan can play left or right side equally well. Whoever came up with that rumour is either a Bitter or using mind expanding chemical substances.

31 Jan 2014 12:05:15
Sportsmail's Simon Jones now claiming that Kono is excited at the interest he has received, but is unsure over the move.
Also wages could be a sticking point, as he is on around 100,000 a week at Dnipro and we would have to offer him in excess of that you would feel.

Believable5 Unbelievable18

All of these Konoplyanka quotes are from a Ukrainian journalist, who asked him quick couple of questions when he just got back with his team from Marbella.

Many have interpreted the quotes to suite their story. The wage demands part seems like guesswork and besides, it the Daily Fail!

Agree1 Disagree0

No way his salary is that high bs

{Ed001's Note - it is true he is on an extremely high wage.}

An agent close to the deal has described negotiations between LFC and Dnipro as ' unbelievably complicated '

Why are our attempted signings always .' Complicated '?

KONOPLYANKA: David Maddock of the Mirror says.

"Liverpool believe a deal can still be done for the winger, but rate their chances as no better than 50-50 at this moment in time, so perhaps he's not collecting the boarding card just yet.

"And as we suggested earlier, it seems we may still be here at 11pm, waiting to see if they finally get the deal over the line."

Only two owners, of four houses, still holding out.

This from the Mirror on Reds target Konoplyanka:

"Some from the Ukraine - sources there are suggesting that Konoplyanka is about to board a plane to fly to England.

My personal opinion is getting both these players with players to come back we could fire ourselfs right back into the title race. Fingers crossed!

Believable8 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - we spoke to Milan but they wanted a sale. Not aware of any movement from either, yet, but that might well change as they need to lose some players from their wage bill.}

Is there any players to leave either on loan or sold.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - Aspas maybe, Robinson may be sold, McLaughlin has extended his deal. There might be some more loan deals out too, from the youngsters. Hard to be sure on those, as there are so many variables.}

Well that shows how much is thought of Robinson if we're continuously looking for a LB and we recall him to sell him and not to use him. IF, of course.

I hope McLaughlin's loan has been extended to the end of the season has it Ed001? Unfortunate timing for his injury but a run of championship games would be great for him, maybe a full season then next season like Wisdom.

Believable7 Unbelievable25

Ed001 just saw your previous response regarding Kono's willingness to take a pay cut to come to LFC. Excellent to hear, this is the type of players we want. Hopefully he is still well looked after financially.

Kono wants £100k. True or false?

Believable3 Unbelievable10

{Ed001's Note - false, he is on 100k now and has indicated a willingness to take a pay cut.}

Thanks Ed001 I'm sure you will be glad when its 11.01pm today. and hopefully we have at least 2 new players and maybe loan out aspas?

Ynwa

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - 11.01pm will mean nothing as it takes hours for the deals to trickle through. It will be about 4 or 5am before I get some kip, I would expect.}

Willing to take a pay cut to join us, that would be fantastic - shows great desire. On the other hand how the hell did Dnipro afford 100k a week.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - there is a lot of oil money out there, Dnipro are much more cash rich than we are.}

hi Eds! could you update us please regarding Konoplyanka and possibly M'Villa? anything new? thank you

Believable8 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - I would prefer not to say anything about any Ukrainian in case I jinx it! I will leave it at that, as I am sure people will understand what I mean by that. As for M'Vila, I still don't know anything about that. Obviously it is not easy getting anything from out there, so I am relying on 2nd and 3rd hand French sources, but they say we are not after him. They usually then spend the next hour or two listing his off field issues as to why they don't believe there is a snowball's chance in hell of us going for him.}

Haha thanks Ed! wouldn't have thought to recieve such a lenghty answer. what about De Jong? are we after him?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - we are interested in a loan deal, but that seems to be of no interest to them, as things stand. I don't know if either side will budge so a deal can be done, but that is the issue. They want a sale, we only want him until the summer when we will then look to buy someone else.}

'Early reports out of Ukraine say Liverpool's move for Yevhen Konoplyanka could falter as the player is 'unsure' about making such a move now despite 'being excited' by the interest.
'The Dnipro winger has a £15million release clause but has turned down Zenit and Juventus also in recent months.'
