Happy new year Eds,
What are the chances of Eriksen?
With Gerrard taking the "deeper" role its clear we need a top class CAM to generate the opportunities and i don't think Suso will be there for at least another 2 years. Holtby would be great too but Eriksen is clearly the superstar in the making.
Cheers,
Benito {Ed002's Note - Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Spurs, Inter and AC Milan have shown some level of interest in Eriksen in the past year or so. He has already rejected both Manchester City and Chelsea but AC Milan and Spurs remain the most interested clubs and Manchester City may well return for him again. Back in July the Milan Press Office were convinced of interest from Manchester United and they have let it be known that they expected a bid to be made by for Eriksen. Expect both Milan clubs and Roma to press if a bid is made by Manchester United. The player remains adament that he will stay in Amsterdam for18 more months before moving to Spain but would likely jump at the chance of a move to Real Madrid or Barcelona if the opportunity arises. Ajax will not let him run down his contract so a move beckons. With only limited options for January, I suspect the player would wish to see out the rest of the season at Ajax and see if he can attract attention from Spain.}

He could sign for liverpool because of Rodgers' system and a bit of persuading from his old ajax partner Suarez

Eriksen I believe will sign for spurs in the summer?

I have been led to believe that there is a hold-up regarding Ince. Apparently it emanates from a certain family member. RED LENIN

The certain family member being Dad? Dad almost wrecked his son's career by meddling and if his son has a brain he'll make his own decisions on which club he moves to!

The Plank

That will probably not happen he has great potential and i dont think black will give him up and liverpool is looking foward to buy players like sturridge it could happen but liverpool will not put a high fee like 11 million euros because they lost a bit of money with joe allen and that was a little to much money now they are trying to focus a backup striker for suarez because of borinis injury

Just f&&k him off, don't need him unles he really wants to play for us and is less than 5 mill, if we had good scouts we wud BR uncovering talent not buying it!

Daniellambretta

Ton Ince will make his own mind up. He is not a child.

If he decides to join one of the biggest clubs in world football, then great. If he decides not to at the advice of someone else, then he is making the biggest mistake of his life and may never come back from this error of judgement.

LFC is the club that could springboard him into world football. He wouldnt get a game with teams like Chelsea, Arsenal, Man U or City....and thats a FACT.

Be brave Tom, follow your instincts

Hi eds. great site here. I was just wondering if you could tell me if Daniel sturridge is definitely going to sign ? Thanks !
Nickupton97 {Ed001's Note - yes.}

It is possible but it is most likely he will join liverpool right now are bidding around 4 million euros for him which is a smart transfer but if you ask me they should buy someone else like maurcio isla from chile

To the guy above, 4 million euros yh??

Hi eds wrote in the other nite tight from south africa, just wanna say to u have a great nite, thanks for all your great work.john barnes spends a lot of time here in sa for soccerex, supersport , and dines with my mate antony ( die hard manc supporter)and i at restaurant in illovo, he had the following to say.daniel sturridge quality young addition with premier league experience and will score lots of goals believes ince deal will eventually go thru(dad paul actually grown very positive over pool potential).rodgers has become very positive about henderson no way will he be sold says the kid is an intelligent player and will be given more time, says that rodgers big admirer of xabi alonso, and so are fsg, apparently xabi genuinly wants to close career out in pool and will be welcomed back with open arms.said pool are genuinely in the market for an experienced marquee signing and will work the entire window to land one as a show of intent says there are 4 targets and quote "cannot say more but all 3 of 4 are excellent potential additions but expect movement for 1 last week jan"liverpools summer planning with rodgers approval well advanced and finances in place and pretty large and guess who is gonna work with brendan in this area none other than stevie nicol and john has tremondous respect for him.before we even bought saurez, (who by the way will not accept a move in summer irrespective of release clause being triggerred)said we were looking at a great fwd from holland that can play goalkeeper as well, i never for the life of me realised it was saurez, a month later the first reports surfaced we were looking at saurez so i respect his assurances above the crap rumours i read he knows whats going on in the club and keeps it pretty tight.this yr we walked thru the rain and storms, but our dreams aint tossed and turned and our heads are held high for we are liverpool football club .have a great one eds and to all u reds markieg

31 Dec 2012 21:23:15
ive heard that while sturridge is a done deal, ince has stalled and on the brink of collapse due to him feeling he will get more game time at blackpool. as a result the search begins for another forward/winger. have the eds any idea who the frontrunner may be?
lfc77 {Ed001's Note - I would expect us to wait until the summer in that case.}

If you're correct and a 20 year old doesn't have the ambition to play in the EPL then it would be better not to sign him.

The Plank

Really - a player would get more time at Blackpool than Liverpool!!

If Ince is available for 6 mil - that kind of money is for a squad player, not a 30+ game starter.

The Plank (above) makes a good point

31 Dec 2012 19:50:14
walcott will not sighn another deal to assnal he wants to join his beloved reds u heard it here. sam red.

Theo cant play on a thursday night. Think you'll find he wants CL football, and he isn't old enough to remember you lot winning league
Happy New Year Guys ( to you and your families. Have a safe one)
Paul Belfast

Yup he loves us so much he isn't interested in CL footie!

The Plank

He might want cl football but he's not winning it with arsenal :P

Wish it was true but total hogwash

Lol all walcots been doing is making him self a better deal at arsenal, there never was any interest in joining pool

Wenger has said that Henry will not join on loan which I take to mean that Walcott will sign a new deal and play up front like Henry

Confused regarding Ince, Ed001 says he is not convinced and Ed002 and others says very good chance of happening.

So i want some confirmation of Ince transfer about where it stands.

Happy new year to you and all your families.

AJ {Ed001's Note - we are in negotiations, it is just Ed002 and the others have more faith in the two clubs being able to sort out a deal and Ince himself agreeing one than I do. It is purely opinion differences. I know how Oyston works, it will not be an easy deal to make. Then there is the difficulty in convincing Tom (and Paul) Ince that a return is in his best interests. A few people who consider Paul Ince a friend have told me that he is not convinced it is the right move for Tom at this stage in his career. So that is why I am am not expecting a deal to be done.}

Heard from a source close to the club that we're putting in a bid from Gary Hooper from Celtic a bid believed to be around £9m will be accepted. Watch this space.
jonnie

Doubt it
Though he is a good striker. I thought he would cost a little less maybe 7M
We should move for Wanayma, a beast gerrard replacement
And if Reina does go how about Forster guy looks quality only 24

Would be very unlikely though especially with them still in CL

But Hooper, Wanayma and Forster would be great additions

F5

In response to F%, I agree, think that would be a fantastic bit of business, we could probably get all 3 for under 20m because they play in scotland, if they played down here they'd cost us at least double that!

Hi Eds,
Any truth in Liverpool signing Jesus Navas? {Ed001's Note - no.}

Navas suffers from a similar condition that i do, anxiety. Like many non-physically obvious disabilities it can be very hard for people to take it as a genuine condition.

He bravely admitted that his anxiety problems forced him to quit international football. In August 2009, he announced his desire to overcome his condition in order to stake his claim in the squad for the 2010 FIFA World Cup and made himself available for selection, stating: "To play for your country is the greatest thing and I hope to be able to, too. I have to be calm and make my decision. I have to continue taking the right steps."

He apparently turned down a move to Chelsea a few season back because of his issue. I admire him hugely for admitted to having a mental disorder, prior to being caught in any controversy which is convenient for the media, which unfortunately seems to be a trend.

So he does gets medal for bravery from me as i know admitting to having a problem is bad enough when you are not a ''super star'' especially when that is the very last thing you'd want when you suffer from anxiety issues.

BoriniCanDoIt

Any chance of signing someone that isn't british and can play football ?

31 Dec 2012 18:30:14
Hi eds, any chance of us buying lescott. Would be a great purchase for us. I am not a skrtel fan as he gets bullied far to often in big games. Would love to see huntaler or ba sign . What do you think. Any chances of these 3. Thanks. Great site {Ed001's Note - no, no, no.}

Skertl bullied? No chance

Square tomato

Skrtel is way above Lescott in terms of quality!

Red Lee

Skrtel is a beast.....rather have him 10 times before lescott....blah

Skrtel bullied? This guys clearerly dizzy you mad mate!!!

Wake up man... lescott

Never seen skirtel bullied !

Do u not follow liverpool mate?or football in general, huntaler has signed a new deal

Skrtel gets bullied? skrtel is the bully bud

Knew that we were interested in Lewis Holtby of Schalke, but what is the current state of affairs? Great website and happy new year to everyone
THE BIG RED

He is not signing a new contract at Shalke and is free to talk to clubs In Jan. LFC will, like a lot of clubs be interested to get him on a free in summer.

31 Dec 2012 17:59:15
hi eds.
perhaps you could shed some light on the never ending debate about a top-class striker, hunterlaar. i've heard he could be on his way to liverpool however i acknowledged the fact that this doesnt seem like a player rodgers would bring in? thanks
JMRED {Ed001's Note - he signed a new contract at Schalke after deciding it was his best option to stay there.}

Alright, cheers ed - i thought he would leave seen as their manager got sacked

JMRED95

When will sturridge be revealed by the club?

Transfer Update & rumours.

Jamie Carragher to retire at the end of 12/13 season

Downing, Hendo, Cole & Pacheco are all available for the right price

Georgi Shchennikov a 21year old LB from CSKA is on Liverpools radar

Stefan Kießling is still an option.

Reina will NOT be sold in the Jan. transfer window. #LFC still looking at German GK's. not heard anything about Butland

trini_red

Rubbish. Rodgers won't sell Downing of his form continues. Henderson defiently won't sell

Who ate you Ian Ayre

Henderson will be a Liverpool FC player for many years, when played in his preferred position of Center Midfield he is a very good player and will only get better, people keep forgetting he is still only 22 and also England u21 captain.

Same applies to young Dani Pacheco i think he should be played more often as you look at his style of play and ball technique he is very good and clever just need to be playing in the 1st team with better players around him

As for Goalkeepers there is only one in my eyes that we should be looking at to replace Reina and that is Ter Stegan, but if we are not looking at replacing Reina the n it should be Butland as he will learn a lot and improve his game under Reina.

BigD

31 Dec 2012 19:09:04
I can't see Jamie retiring, taking his badges and moving further towards the switch to coaching yes but not hanging them up.

Jamie won't retire. Why would he? He is getting some games and still part of the squad.

Can see Jamie wanting to stay on in a player/coach role. He will get cup and Europa starts and some premiership minutes on the field this season, he can still provide a role IMO.

31 Dec 2012 17:11:38
sturridge has been at melwood traing for 4 days fact
finno61

I think he is going to be a very good buy, good feet, ball control, skillful and technically very good, and by playing with Suarez and Gerrard he should be hitting double figures each year with the chances we create.

BigD

31 Dec 2012 19:09:54
That lad will be knackered....

31 Dec 2012 19:10:24
whats that...good player do well given a proper chance

Is that you Rafa?

Mike B

Ah! The magical word FACT proves you speak the truth!

the Plank

No he hasn't FACT! He was in London over the weekend to say bye to close friends etc

31 Dec 2012 17:09:44
hi eds...
I have heard the issue for the sale of Tom Ince to Liverpool is that we have a sell on clause, from when we sold him to Blackpool. Apparently we are due half of any profit... is this true? Please confirm.

Mikey B {Ed001's Note - that would not be an issue if so.}

Ince will arrive in the 1st week of the transfer window for around £5m.

BigD

01 Jan 2013 03:28:26
Ha so we owe ourselves money...

The huge flaw in that theory being that we didnt sell him to Blackpool.

31 Dec 2012 16:24:06
Is there still interest in Feghouli? {Ed002's Note - Valencia's Sofiane Feghouli is still stalling on signing a new contract whilst his agents scurry around looking for interest in the player as leverage or as an alternative to Valencia should he be sold. A number of high-profile clubs have been approached to see if they would be interested in the player but it would be nothing but speculation on my part to suggest interest of not. However, Paris Saint-Germain has made more than one approach for the player and Valencia has set a deadline of his departure for the ACON to resolve the matter. Bayern Munich, Manchester United, Southampton and PSG have all considered Feghouli but have been told that he is not available. I expect that a new contract will be agreed and signed.}

Really disappointed with eds. always try to submit my post but it never pass and being posted. even some stupid question and rumours manage to be posted. weird {Ed023's Note - Your posts has come in now. Are you sure you're looking in the right pages for it?}

31 Dec 2012 16:20:45
Hi Eds,
does Liverpool have the option of recalling back Andy Caroll in this Jan window? if yes, what are chances of him coming back? {Ed002's Note - He is on a year long loan and injured. Don't hold your breath.}

Carroll I'd love to come back but unlikely

Why would you even want this donkey back in the team? This doesn't make any sense! He's worthless & pathetic. I never want to see that donkey playing for Liverpool again.

SUMON VAI

31 Dec 2012 16:19:53
benayoun contract runs out end of season and i cant see Chelsea giving him a new one. Any chance of a freebie end of season?

Yossi "I'd rather sit on the bench at Chelsea than play for Liverpool"bennayoun classless farewell parting shot

Benayoun is approaching 33 years of age and has made just 6 appearances and scored 1 goal for his loan club West Ham.Since West Ham are supposedly struggling with injuries and form and he can't get a regular place why would we want him in 6 months time?

The Plank

Yossi, much as we appreciate you coming on the site....its probably best you get an agent to drum up interest rather than try to do it via a transfer website.
Good luck with the job search

Why go back to rubbish players

Hasn't yossi been transferred to west ham or is it a loan.?

He has gone back to Chelsea

01 Jan 2013 17:53:27
When is the last time Yossi played well?.....no chance it would be the same as extending joe cole's contract

sean ireland

His career highlight was the CL header - and only goal of both matches (from the smallest man on the pitch) - against Madrid at the Bernabeu. Mostly I remember him for picking out opposition defenders with his passes instead of our strikers.

31 Dec 2012 16:17:27
players who will sign for liverpool in january

sturridge
ince
butland

maybe a few more players but definatley these

i think joe cole will leave but no one else maybe downing and henderson in the summer and ed's what are the chances of demba ba this january?

thanks have a good new year fellow reds!

liverpool for life

Birmingham have said today no sale of Butland during this season.

The Plank

Can't see Henderson leaving even Downing in his current form

...and maybe even Theo Walcott as a centre striker if were lucky...

U have just told us what has been said on here day after day

Agree those 3 all defiantly the most likely to arrive and personally id be fairly happy, we are not a top 4 team at the moment so like it or not but we need players that are good enough to get us in the top 4 to reach the champions league. Butland will be sent back to b-ham till end of the season as part of any deal, Henderson & Downing won't be going anywhere.

BigD

Very average signings. Hardly going to move anyone from the edge of their seats. No offence

31 Dec 2012 16:03:55
Hello EDS, just wondering if you could shed any light on what iv herd .is it true that we made a loan move for villa but the loan fee was a stumbling block? also are we linked with diakite , the lazio defender? great site by the way , its the only site i think we can all honestly say we get the truth of all the EDS. {Ed002's Note - Try reading the posts please - these have been answered.}

Thanks i found the serch bar after i typed it in, all makes clear sense now thank you

David villa off to chelsea

31 Dec 2012 15:51:51
Fernando Aristeguieta is the name on everyone lips from South America to be next great talent to picked up by a European club. Last season Chelsea was looking at him but he then got injured. He is back fit now and scoring a bucketful of goals.. Liverpoool need his talent and his goals... {Ed002's Note - I think you may be a little late to bag Aristeguieta.}

Hi edd where is he going too....? {Ed002's Note - If I needed to bet, Torino.}

He looks great ONLY 20
Do Lfc have any interest in him ED? {Ed002's Note - No.}

31 Dec 2012 15:34:07
hi eds and fellow reds firstly happy new year to 1 and all, just wondering with the deal breaking down with Chelsea for ba, do you think eds there is any chance we can stump up the 7.5 mil and pay his 80k a week and go get him, he has proven himself in the pl and with his goals and saurez we would fly up the table, even with sturridge signing we still need another striker.ray {Ed002's Note - He could be very expensive to buy for a non-CL side, has additional agent fees hanging over his transfer anywhere, high wage expectations and high insurance costs.}

We should well go for him 7mil for a striker of his quality is a steal, give him the wages he wants and take the club forward! (really not sure about the sturridge deal, seems like the guy's got issues

"give him the wages he wants....."

Im sure thats exactly what Leeds and Portsmouth said, look what happened to them. Ba is too much of a risk, yes he is a top striker and if we could get him for cheaper and lower wages I would say go for it, but with his injury issue. No thanks!!

Dont need him

Times reports it will cost Chelsea including all the extras up to 30 mill

At ed002, does that mean his price is different for any team out of the champions league (higher than £7m) or just not financially a clever move without that sort of income?

s.p {Ed002's Note - Like Ed007, higher.}

31 dec 2012 15:26:03
xabi alonso will not return to liverpool. id put my morgage on it. id love him back but it wont happen.

scouse ben

Not very wise to put you morgage on it then if its never gunna happen

If you're so sure, Put the bet on

31 Dec 2012 23:17:20
alonso said he wants to finish his career at liverpool so you might not want to do that

He already said that he wants to come back. I think he will return but not in this transfer window.

31 Dec 2012 15:24:24
eds, where did this david villa chat come out of, is it twitter again? do you actually think their is any chance? cheers

happy new year

devers.... {Ed002's Note - It comes from a samll village outside of Bedford. I would not hold your breath as I think it unlikely.}

There's no samll village in bedford, but a lot of small ones in Bedfordshire. Happy New Year Ed002. Nearly19

I am from a small village in bedford. {Ed002's Note - The one who knows the truth.}

31 Dec 2012 15:04:44
hi eds,

Any truth what so ever in the sneijder bid being made ? {Ed002's Note - No.}

31 Dec 2012 14:42:19
As someone suggested earlier Honda would be a great ( and achievable I think Ed?) signing. Add to him Turan who would also be achievable I think and a striker like Gameiro and we would be improved massively

Chris in Tamworth {Ed002's Note - Liverpool were very interested at one time but may have blown their chance of Honda in January 2011 when he was available for about £8M. During the mid-season in Russia, Wolfsburg and Juventus were interested in Honda but the player said he wanted to move to Spain and the 25M euro asking price put them off. This summer we saw enquiries for the player have been from Lazio, PSG, Sevilla and Palermo. It seems to be the longest running of the Liverpool (and Arsenal) related "rumours". Honda was close to leaving in the summer with a move to Lazio only failing at the last minute and I understand that Lazio would still be interested at the right price. He has had a bit of a strange season in that he has been scoring goals but his performances have been criticised - which seems to have put off Dortmund who have taken a recent look. If you were to ask if I expect Honda to move to Liverpool in January the answer would be probably not.

Arda was certainly looked at by Liverpool but clearly those that were in control of transfers did not progress any initial interest. Eventually he moved to Spain. We knew very early on that he would be leaving Galatasaray for Atletico Madrid once money had been freed up through the sale of Aguero - although there was strong interest from elsewhere. Arda Turan will most likely move this coming summer subject to a suitable bid being made - something in the order of £18M-£20M. The likely destinations are England and Italy although there remains a chance that previous German interest will still be there and an outside chance of a return to Turkey. Atletico Madrid have already rejected a move from Schalke saying they do not want to sell in January.

There has been long term interest in PSG's Kevin Gameiro from Lille and Dortmund; Everton and Kuban Krasnodar are showing interest in the player but Everton could only likely fund a loan. A move in the summer seems more likely than January.}

Hello and Happy New Year all fellow reds and Ed's!

I still don't understand why LFC haven't shown more interest in Arda Turan. His favourite turkish team is Galatasaray, but he has also been a sworn Liverpool-supporter all his life. He has repeatedly been quoted in media all over Europe that his "dream is to play for Liverpool because of the proud history of the club". Arda Turan is an excellent football player and he has proven his goalscoring abilities for several years.

The "hottest" transfer object these days are probably Radamel Falcao. But who do you think makes a lot of the assists for Falcao's goals...?

I really hope to see Arda Turan in a red shirt some day.

I would love to hear you Ed's
comments on this.

Thank you for your excellent work. You Ed's are like therapists for red-blooded supporters ;-)

Red Hoffa {Ed001's Note - he was not seen as robust enough by Dalglish and Commoli, now I suspect price is more of an issue.}

Would love all three but unfortunately none look likely in the foreseeable future.

31 Dec 2012 14:40:03
Eds and reds,
What are the chances of Liverpool getting Wilfried Zaha in January or the Summer? {Ed002's Note - Crystal Palace will look to hold on to Zaha until the summer and if they get promoted perhaps after that too. He was to be allowed to move this past summer at the right price with Sunderland, West Ham and Reading look possible destinations. Liverpool have certainly looked at Zaha in the past but there is strong interest from Arsenal and Manchester United and perhaps even interest from Spurs. Game time will no doubt be a factor in the short-term.}

You can see great potential in zaha he plays right wing but i think he will develop into a great striker under the right management, mark

I believe Zaha is going to end up in an Arsenal shirt come January. And thank god for that. Definitely feel he's over rated.

I don't want Zaha rather have Austin

Zaha is overrated

31 Dec 2012 14:32:49
Hi eds great new year eve page loads of rumours .. Can I ask why we're bothering even talking about snijder he's 28 cost a fortune in wages upsets The apple cart , if we're gonna bring anyone in like that why not go younger and bring in Adel taarbet from QPR he was excellent yesterday only threat against us he prob cost half in wages and fee , just wondered what your thoughts are and the fellow readers happy new year keep up the good work ..Tim

No Fulham's Ruiz would be a better buy in my opinion!

Taarabt defiently upsets the apple card

Trying to sense sarcasm in saying Taraabt was outstanding.
over complicated passes, flicks and looking for hollywood long shots is not what we should be encouraging.
RobInRed

Cos Adel Tarabet is rubbish maybe. He's got a thing where he rolls his ball over with his foot, but they teach that to 2 years olds

01 Jan 2013 18:00:26
I think Disco Adel would be just about as bad a signing as you could get- he'd win you 6 games a season whilst costing you in the 26 others he'd play in....

Also qpr turned down 15m for him during the summer from psg didn't they?....don't know how you think we'd then get him for 4m or so...

sean ireland

31 Dec 2012 13:57:44
Liverpool have been rebuffed in a bold attempt to take Barcelona striker David Villa on loan. that is the quality of player we should look to get with sturridge and ince to add depth to the attack .
and please dont start the loan to buy rubbish with cole just get him off the books .

There is a possiblilty of D.Villa coming due to he has similar wages to Cole but with no Champs league and us still being on a transistion stage he will not be coming on loan or been bought by LFC.

FowlerGod.

Its very possible. champions league is erelevant as he wants to be considerd in the spanish world cup squad and he wont if his stuck on the bench for barcelona. so as far as im concerned he will move just to get first team football

David villa will not be coming to liverpool!

Not Ince. Love Villa
Happy New Year
Nearly 19

He'll join Rafa. After all he only did buy spanish players

31 Dec 2012 13:47:37
Ed002 the mail(written by simon jones) are reporting that we have tried to get david villa on loan but have been rebuffed. DO u know if this is true? {Ed002's Note - Sounds like speculation to me.}

Best rumour website that I know by an absolute mile. Informed opinion from the eds, whilst trying to keep a lid on the guff out there.
I think we would all love to see Schneider and Villa at LFC, but we need to be realistic, simply not going to happen. Wages and our current position will preclude this from happening.
As the eds have said time and time and time again, it looks like Sturridge, Ince and possibly one more. We all know Jan isn't a good time to buy and we need to remain patient and give BR time to build his own squad.

ARSENAL are looking at D.Villa supposedly, I think they have a better chance than us.

Everything sounds like speculation to eds {Ed001's Note - because almost everything is made up, sorry speculated, in the papers.}

31 Dec 2012 13:44:09
Hi Ed002,
any idea if Rodgers will be on the bench on Wednesday? thanks. all the best to LFC, all Eds, esp you. {Ed002's Note - I would doubt it, but I guess it will give time to get his registration through.}

31 Dec 2012 14:10:39
Eh?

31 Dec 2012 14:30:46
Unbeatable Ed002! U're pure class.

You mean Sturridge

Ed002 .. Genius! lol

LONDONRED

Back in August I wrote on here saying that BR would be sacked by Xmas due to his media mouth, lack of personality and knowledge of the game. The Liverpool stage is far too big for him and I said that he would get found out. I was wrong by a couple of weeks, he'll be gone in days. And Ed's, you can call me mystic Mag again if you like.

31 Dec 2012 13:37:25

Hey Ed have a question for you, if Sturridge was to sign tomorrow would he be able to play for us against Sunderland on Wednesday or is it too early? Cheers!

He could play for us if all the paper work is completed and he is registered. However can't see him coming into the squad that quickly, can see him watching from the crowd against Sunderland and then get a squad place for our FA cup game.

Birmingham manager lee clarke has said that butland may leave in january with the reds reportedly interested. I still feel he will go to everton but it would be nice to have our own joe hart in the starting line up, with Reina playing poorly. Heard anything EDS.

Scouse Ben {Ed002's Note - I would consider Butland a high-risk move if Liverpool were to look to him as a first choice goalkeeper at this time. However, if Birmingham cannot find a buyer Butland may be sold and we understand Liverpool has spoken with his agent.}

31 Dec 2012 13:44:04
Yeah I guess your right EDS but maybe the feeling is Jones is up to the task of first team goalkeeping.

Scouse Ben {Ed002's Note - Where do you think Reina is going then?}

I suspect, if Liverpool were to buy him, they will loan him out to a PL team for a few seasons before making him number 1. I do believe in the long term this is a good deal.

I just assumed that reina was up for a possible transfer with all the rumours going about. Do you believe he will stay ED002

Scouse Ben {Ed002's Note - I don't know of any intention to sell him.}

He will not be moving!

If a bid was to come in for reina id take it. his handling is awful its as if he is wearing latecs gloves. we need an agile keeper like we had in dudek and cat type goal keeper reina just dont seem interested anymore

Brendan Rodgers wants a team based in young British talent. Butland is perfect

Hi ed2 - how do you feel about your loyal servant frank lampard not being offered a new contract at Chelsea-as a red I can see him having another year or two left in him-its not FSG policy but I a would have him as a squad player {Ed002's Note - Time come comes to move on and whilst nothing is firm yet, he may well move on sooner rather than later. There are a number of offers for him to consider but he has to balance any decision with business interests in London and his family in Spain. Players come and go all of the time and he has been at the club well over 10 years and has been a "model professional", scored plenty of goals - I think more than any other midfield player in the EPL, and kept himself in good shape so he has much to give elsewhere for a season or two. Maybe he will stay to the summer at Chelsea and a new manager want him to stay on? We will see.}

Lampard would be much more than a 'squad player'.

Adam

Surely frank would go and help out uncle 'arry? Remain in London.

Why is a Chelsea fan an ed on this page? Sod that {Ed002's Note - See the glifnards are out in force today.}

I would have welcomed Lampard at LFC when he left West Ham. He is having a revival atm, putting himself in the shop window? Great player. aklfc

Not Lampard and Gerrard can't play together

Eds is there chance we could get holtby {Ed002's Note - Schalke have confirmed that they have made an offer to Lewis Holtby of a new contract but are aware that there will be interest from clubs wishing to speak to the player in January and getting him to agree a deal might be difficult - as is proving to be the case. Aston Villa has added to the previously known interest from Valencia, Spurs, Everton and Arsenal and unconfirmed rumours suggest that both Manchester United and Liverpool may also look to Holtby. Perhaps the most interesting option that he may have is Inter Milan who most definately has an interest after stepping back from any deal for their first choice midfield player. However, Inter are being advised by Di Frisco that Holtby is perhaps two years from being ready for such a move but in my view it remains a possible destination - although they are looking at Belhanda as well. There might be a chance to tempt him to sign a pre-contract in January.}

Holtby will join spurs in summer. Assuming everything goes to plan.

M

No he won't! Eriksen will be their big summer buy!

Schalke have confirmed that Holtby won't be signing a contract extension.

How do you know

Eds, has Demba Ba definitely got this clause that only teams with champions league can sign him for 7mill?
Sky claim that chelsea talks broke down because they offered less than his release clause.

Red Raw {Ed002's Note - There is certainly a release clause and you can ignore whatever Sky is saying about Ba and Chelsea.}

Seen as Chelsea move has broken down we must take advantage

If the talks have broken down it is likely due to extortionate wage demands by Ba's money grubbing agent.

The Plank

Why have u distorted the sky reports? it didnt say anything at all about breaking down due to not meeting transfer fee. it actually said ba and his representatives werent happy with talks with chelsea and so are now holding talks with other clubs.

ED when can Liverpool buy a player is it the 1st of January or the 2nd of January....
And heard that Xabi alonso could be heading back to the premier league-could be liverpool!

Great website! happy new year mighty Redz !

Hi Eds,
Not really a question regarding a specific rumour. But with Enrique now injured do you believe we will be in the market for any back up? or will Jack Robinson be used? Also what is the situation regarding Robinson, is he injured?
Cheers {Ed002's Note - Please read the posts.}

Every time a Liverpool squad player is not making any 1st team appearances there are vague claims that he's injured.In most of these cases there's nothing wrong with the player and it is down to Rogers not having confidence in him.

The Plank

Well I don't have confidence in Rodgers

31 Dec 2012 11:43:16
Hy Ed.
I have 2 questions for u.
1. When does borini expected to b available for selection.
2. And is there any chance of new left back coming to lfc as enrique does injured so often.
And is there any chance of no. 10 player arrive in this window. Have a good new year ahead to all eds and all fans.
Thanx. {Ed002's Note - Borini will be available in January. The other questions have already been answered today. Please read the posts.}

Borini is sh!t anyway

31 Dec 2012 11:41:36
Any interest in St Etienne centre back Kurt Zouma? {Ed002's Note - Arsenal looked at him about a year or so ago. Manchester United in the summer and Manchester City now.

31 Dec 2012 11:27:01
Hi Eds,
All this talk about sneijder reminded me- How's his younger brother Ronald (?) doing in the Eredivise? Is he likely to get a move to Ajax this summer?

Happy new year all!
ForzaRed {Ed002's Note - Rodney Sneijder moved in the summer - I am not sure how things are going for him.}

Shut up eds

31 Dec 2012 11:01:22
Alright ed do u know of any interest in phillipe coutinho know we wer interested under rafa spent last year on loan at espanyol would b a good young addition quality too ! {Ed002's Note - The situation with Philippe Coutinho remains unchanged as far as I know with Inter having no intention of selling him. Inter had offered to loan Coutinho to Bologna as part of a deal for Gaston Ramirez that eventually fell through in the summer of 2011. He had a few starts early last season and with Inter looking to sell Sneijder at some point to help fund their rebuilding I think his future in Milan is assured. The loan to Espanyol earlier in 2012 gave him important experience. Coutinho would need a work permit to play in England so any move would not be easy.}

Nice player coutinho, would love to see him in a red shirt, skill, inagination & finishing ability shame about the work permit issues, have a word with him lucas!
Paisley's genius

31 Dec 2012 11:01:04
Sign Sneider and we are going to have another Joe Cole situation on our hands. Looking forward to Sturridge arriving a bit of pace up top. All the best to fellow reds for 2013 RED RUSS

31 Dec 2012 10:56:29
With the Sneijder rumour my view is it will never happen main reason is that he is 28 and will be on high wages.We all have to remember Clint Dempsey 28/29 at the time in the summer for 6 million and we would not pay it because there would be no return if we wanted to sell him later and even no he would of sold shirts in America that still wasn't enough.and yes Sneijder is a world class player but the America owners don't no who he is he is just a name that wants lots of money at 28 years old.I don't see it happening!

Deanalfie.

31 Dec 2012 10:43:48
Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso has admitted he could be heading back to the Premier League back to Liverpool maybe. {Ed002's Note - Perhaps at some point in the future.}

I'd love to see Alonso back - creativity ;) YNWA

31 Dec 2012 10:40:20
hey ed as there was always need of a left back and enrique and kelly both injured now do you expect that we try to sign another left backn? maybe on loan ? {Ed002's Note - Or give Robinson a chance. Johnson can always play there with Wisdom on the right.}

31 Dec 2012 10:37:34
What a suprise the wesley s rumour shot down by lfc we dont need a world class player we have the dymanic due not batman & robin ince & sturridge coming one who cant get a game for chelsea the other playing ok in the championship . We need better than these two but the worst part is they are going to cost 18m give that money to weslsy s he is proven world class quailty

Well said, we have no trouble throwing big money at potential and no money on proven players, that's why we're 9th

You're all sarcastic mate but have you considered the high wages & injury record? Well have you>>>>??

Do ya know what your right damn how did i not see that?and i have fifa and all..because he is that good he can play on both wings at the same time we dont need to buy two players when we can buy one and hes only on about 50 grand more weekly than the other two together.you need to take this knowledge to board level and get the respect you deserve

He is world class but Henry won't pay all that on a 28 year old clint Dempsey any one?

To a man that has played 3 games this season?

Thank you! You two above are realists. Finally people who speak sense. So right the posts.

So the owners are trying to reduce the overall wages at the club with the new signings they make, but you want them to sign someone that wants around £200k a week.

Some fans are living with their heads in the clouds. We need to sign players that can improve us to get us into the top 4 again before we can sign world class players again. I thought that'd be obvious. We're going for players like Sturridge because they will improve us now, he's obtainable in our current state, players like Sneijder, Cavaini, etc. aren't.

Man Utd pay 25 million for rvp who is 28/29.no sell on value but he is the missing link that could win them the title.im all for building for the future but sometimes u need a short sharp shock.wesley is one of the top 5 am in the world.if he stays fit would be brilliant signing.getting rid of ol king cole will save us 100 grand a week anyway.

Between injury and on strike i believe thats what stopped him playing no doubt he is great player but do you an injury prone player to world clssly sit on the bench or treatment table making it world class

It's not just about whether or not we'd be willing to pay the fee and (ridiculous) wages - it's whether the player would want to join Liverpool, and why would he?

We'd be wasting our time chasing after established 'world class' players becuase they want CL football, and we aren't even close to being able to offer that.

You can say what you like but liverpool are not an option for sneijder

Firstly, i think rodgers is being realistic and not after sneijder because he would not want to sign for liverpool. chasing him would distract from tying up other deals (holding the funds aside etc).
Every club in the league would want to sign sneijder if they thought they could land him regardless of his age, but most know he will not go to their clubs and simply cannot afford such high wages.
Be realistic and end these rumours now!

Cant get a game for chelsea. who exactly would he shift, because its not torres!

GET A GRIP

all these sturridge haters are going to be left very red faced i feel.

Have u seen Chelsea's bench!? Ramirez, hazard and Oscar rarely get full games and they are among the best players in the world! Use your loaf lad.

Sneijder is a world class player who could be playing for world class team in Liverpool

Sneijder is the exact sort of player we have to stay away from - 28, injured constantly, huge wages and likely big fees being exchanged between clubs an agent - those sorts of players damage our club and are doing so right now (Joe Cole anyone?), we should give Sneijder a wide berth.

However, we should also give Sturridge a wide berth. Overrated English player with a big ego who has not made the grade at Chelsea and who no other team was really in for - selfish player on the pitch as well as having a questionable attitude - why the powers that be deem him a good signing (especially for £12million) is beyond me. Again overrated, overpriced Englishman - will we ever learn our lesson??

SMc {Ed023's Note - Never really got the chance to 'make the grade' did he? When he was available at City all Liverpool fans wanted him, what has changed since?}

31 Dec 2012 10:27:30
Hi Eds, with the January window a day away you've stated that you think Sturridge and Ince will arrive a possible loan signing. Do you still believe it will just be 2 and a loan or do you believe we could go for full back cover and maybe a number 10 in this window?

{Ed002's Note - Do you mean will Coentrau and Sneijder be arriving?}

No just mean Rodgers stated he was looking at those two positions and with Jose Enrique out for 6 weeks he may look for what he's stated we need {Ed002's Note - Well Downing has been playing there, Robinson either gets a chance or will want out at some point, Glen Johnson has covered in the past and with Wisdom getting a chance it would be a low risk solution.}

What ANOTHER rubbish answer from ED002

31 Dec 2012 10:22:38
Hi eds, there's been alot of questions about sneijder, we know where the rumours started. But, do you know of any interest in him from Liverpool? {Ed002's Note - As far as I am concerned there is no interest in Wesley Sneijder from Liverpool. I seem to have spent the last 24 hours saying this whilst being battered by those who say there is interest and Liverpool has made bid and is discussing wages - after all it has been on Twitter and in the Daily Mail. I would put this down like Coentrau and Gaston Ramirez for now and suggest you don't get your hopes up. I cannot see how to explain this any clearer.}

ED002, you have the patience of a saint trying to explain your explanations to non believers... as a young lady did you ever spend time in a Carmelite Monastery by any chance ?

Tel 1949 {Ed002's Note - I always wanted to but I was prevented by a court order.}

No you've spent the last 24 hours telling people were the rumour came from, not once have you stated what you have heard. Ed002 your replies are getting more sarcastic and having digs at people. If its too much hard work for you maybe we shouldn't bother coming on this site. Still waiting for you to get a transfer right! Only been waiting 3 years. Great job

{Ed002's Note - Thanks for the appreciation of my efforts.}

31 Dec 2012 11:28:24
Chill out please...ED002 is doing exactly what we want him to do...he keeps us entertained whilst giving us his own personal views and good solid facts at the same time. If you cant understand this philosophy, then dont bother reading his replies.

I for one will continue to always look for ED002 responses, and long may it continue my dear chap.

Keep up the good work ED !

Tel 1949

Ed i think your right his wages would be too much to be viable, what it could be is a ploy to get united the persons to back of ince

happy new year all {Ed002's Note - There is no "ploy".}

It's not going to happen is that clear enough people.

31 Dec 2012 10:21:03
I know this is a rumours website but I can't wait until all the business actually happens. All the speculation of who is coming in is doing my head in and is giving us all some false hope. Don't get me wrong I'm all up for a good bit of hope but it has to be reasonable. At the moment we are in a transition phase and can't expect miracles, I think we are doing OK but could do better and this is translated in the signings we are going for. I.E. good players but not world beaters, once we have had (hopefully) a good season and can prove we have potential then we can look at world beaters. So, to clarify, Sturridge and Ince are done (apart from the actual signing) and a loanee is on the cards? I think anything above this is a bonus (depending on who it is). I would be quite happy with a couple of pre-contract agreements with some class players in this window.
Irrational moment.........I would also love Alonso to return and for Stevie Gs eventual successor to be purchased.
Whilst this website has driven me mad I do visit it about 30 times a day!!
And finally, to totally contradict myself, can we start summer speculation on 1st feb?
Keep up the great work and a happy new year to all.

31 Dec 2012 09:46:35
How close is sturridge deal to completion? Just waiting for tomorrow?

ABC123 {Ed002's Note - We cannot realistically say when transfers will be completed. It requires both clubs to submit paperwork for processing and international clearance to be obtained.}

31 Dec 2012 09:37:24
Hi Ed,

I read that we are interested in Wilfried Bony. do you know how much he is valued ? even if you don't know the exact figure, do you think he is valued under £10mil ? YouTube makes him look a magnificent player. but do you know how good he is ?

miccmak {Ed002's Note - This sounds like a little older news, and I really don't want to get too far in to the financial side of things for the obvious reasons. However, Wilfried Bony was of interest to Newcastle over the summer and has been a player Chelsea have been considering for a while. Recently there has been varying degrees of interest from Marseille, Aston Villa, QPR, Liverpool, Everton and a couple of German sides (Hamburg and Schalke) but only Marseille is pushing. It would not be a surprise to see interest from other teams, possibly Napoli and Roma. The player has said he would like to join Chelsea but any move in January is by no means certain.}

31 Dec 2012 09:34:23
Ed's could you answer a question - i have read that Walcott could sign a pre-contract agreement with Juventus next month, but could not sign one for Liverpool, City, Utd etc.... and would have to wait until the summer. Is this true and if so why? Is it simply because they play in a different league.....

Cheers {Ed002's Note - The rules are that a pre-contract can be signed with a team playing under a different association 6 months prior to his contract expiring - so he can provide a contractual commitment to Juventus as I have written elsewhere, but not, as you say, to any English side.}

31 Dec 2012 09:30:12
Hi eds hope you had a good xmas i know a lot of names are being bandied about but bar sturridge abd ince who else can we expect to see arrive? Have a great new year eds and reds. p.s hope sturride doesnt arrive as he willnot make a major impact but i hope he proves me wrong :) {Ed002's Note - I suspect that they will prove to be the major buys of the window. Perhaps another squad player will also arrive, or someone on loan.}

I agree mate sturridge could'nt get in the chelsea team even when torres was struggling and he's going to be our big signing like u hope he turns out to be a star but av got me doubts {Ed023's Note - Maybe Roman demanded Torres started?}

31 Dec 2012 09:23:29
Harry Redknapp to bring in Joe Cole but only if he agrees to take a reduction in his 90k/w wages. Eds would it be on the free or a small fee involved? {Ed002's Note - Any fee would likely be lost in the process of resolving what is owed to the player. Efforts have been made to see if a solution can be found which releases the player from his contract at an acceptable cost to Liverpool. Liverpool gave Joe Cole a contract which reflected the fact that no transfer fee was paid so he was given a much more generous signing on fee. This was extrapolated across the entire contract and should it come to Joe Cole leaving, the remaining money owed to the player by the club needs to be paid. In addition to this, if the club wishes to negotiate the release of the player the two parties need to negotiate a fee to be paid. With 18 months remaining on his contract, a responsible person would likely look to being paid perhaps 6 months of that and giving up the other year. This means that with two clubs interested there are a number of options including the player giving up some of what would be owed in respect of a signing on fee elsewhere.}

31 Dec 2012 08:53:45
I heard sneijder deal agree.
just wages is problem.
Is true rumour?? {Ed002's Note - There is no agreed deal.}

Ed002 have u had any confirmation of us contacting sneidjer. He just said it is untrue? {Ed002's Note - As far as I am concerned nothing has changed from what I said yesterday. The Sneijder to Liverpool story comes from an Italian source speculating that Liverpool would be willing to pay Inter 10M euros for Sneijder and the player 240k eruos (a little over £200k) per week to give him 120M euros per week net. This was seemingly added to Twitter by a "journalist" that summarises current rumours on hs Twitter account. No offer has been made to Inter at this time but I have no confirmation if Liverpool has made an approach to Sneijder's agent. Sneijder is travelling today I understand so I would not expect the "spectacular" story of his signing to be breaking today. Inter, I understand, want to talk with him on Wednesday, when he returns to training, regarding his commitment to the club so they can figure out a way forward. I remain of the opinion that there would need to be very significant movement over his wage demands if he were to move to Liverpool.}

Ed002 is there actual interest from us and have we made an offer to you knowledge

thanks

bigW {Ed002's Note - As I said above, there has been no offer made. As for interest, as I said, I don't know if Liverpool has perhaps made an approach to Sneijder's agents or representatives.}

Okie dokie ed thanks for the reply i wont be holding my breath on this im sure there will be some top teams in for him at the money mentioned.

bigW {Ed002's Note - I am yet to be convinced that he will actually be moving in January BigW.}

with respect to sneidjer I know we cant afford his wages but we have paid some of aquas wages as part of the deal to sell him so do you think inter might do the same for sneidjer?.

thanks bud

31 Dec 2012 01:04:39
is there a strong chance the ince deal could include a loan deal maybe Morgan, Ngoo or Coady going the other way would benefit both teams. apologiesif already covered. cocko

Blackpool are asking for Jack Robinson and Kris Peterson on loan on top of the cash on offer.

Robinson could be needed for the 1st team with Enriques injury problems. I find it hard to believe that Downing is preferred at laft back over Robinson.

While I'm not his biggest fan, Downing actually functions decently at the LB position, because in the 2-3-2-3 system the LB is the one who hugs the touchline, NOT the LF/LMF, who should be playing more inside. The latter position also requires that the player contribute in goals, which Downing clearly is not good at. He is better at providing assists from out wide, which again is ideally from the left back rather than the left midfielder. Finally, though he is not as defensively good as Robinson, Rodgers is gambling that our control of possession will limit Downing's exposure to difficult defensive situations.

Having said all that, would rather a different LB than Downing, but at least he is functional.

Don't be stupid. We'll end up losing more good players to Blackpool who will want to buy and then sell back at a ridiculous price.

Hi there ed and fans, right this will sound regurgitated but it is true Sabin alonso is thinking of returning to the prem. It is in the daily mirror what do you make of it ed? If he is to return I think it will be us, what do you think? What about everybody else? Thanks
Hibsylfc {Ed002's Note - I would doubt that he is considering a move in January but later, sure.}

Thanks ed002 for the prompt response do you think it would be us though?
Hibsylfc {Ed002's Note - I cannot even imagine the thought process has gone that far at this time. Perhaps in the summer if Liverpool are interested, he is interested, Real willing to sell and Liverpool willing to pay the fee - but his age is very much against him.}

What is sabin?

Because it is in the Mirror does not make it true, far from it in fact.

Hi Eds, just one transfer question. Is there any chance in liverpool signing the following players:

Susaeta (Athletic Bilbao)
Kaka (Real Madrid)
Llorente (Athletic Bilbao)
Torres (Chelsea)
Sturridge (Chelsea)
Walcott (Arsenal)
Ba (Newcastle)

{Ed002's Note - Yes, Sturridge.}

31 Dec 2012 04:45:24
Ed, u forgot to add (Chelsea) after Sturidge.

Thats 7 questions. *rolls eyes*

Nice list, Ba one (excuse the pun, too good to miss). The weak name on the list looks to be the one we are getting.

Susaeta, Llorente yes price in our range and fantastic player. Kaka' want first team football we can offer him that but don't know his wages, walcott, Ba is good but sturridge £12m? why we want to buy unproven player who can be a flop ? {Ed002's Note - As I said, Sturridge will likely be signing, regardless of the so called fans like you.}

31 Dec 2012 00:00:35
Hi Eds, hasn't Abidal been cleared to play again recently after his operation? If so, is he availible- his experience would be very useful and he is still a quality player. Great back up for a couple of seasons whilst Robinson grows a bit.

RedKopite {Ed002's Note - Abidal is training but will not be moving to Liverpool.}
