Liverpool will not be signing Downing, but will tie up a deal for Adam no matter how long it takes. My sources tell me we will see which foreign wingers are available, and will only take Downing if there is no one younger or cheaper abroad, which to me seems very unlikely.

in regards to lb we still have insua he is still young and clarke could bring the best out in him, if we miss out on mata we will get johnson which will be a quality signing striker will come from abroad most likely another target man i cant get a name out of my source ( not HP ) yet but expect some surprises.

30 Jun 2011 22:38:57
Ed I know a lot of people will tell me to trust kk and keep the faith, but the reality is we seem to still move too slow in the transfer Market and have missed out on our top targets so far. And the top four seem to be getting stronger I really hope fsg have something huge up their sleeves don't you? If we pay 20m for downing I won't step foot inside anfield again on principle. Ed your thoughts pls?
Dave {Ed002's Note - I am not sure what answer is acceptable to you today. I guess there is a Kenny Out, Damien Out, Comolli Out group simmering here. They will turn to FaceBook and we will give you details to sign up.}

30 Jun 2011 22:29:43
i hope the board arent starting to talk about the stadium situation because they dont want to spend big in the transfer market the last yanks left a bad taste in my mouth nothing has made me think these r any different they have only bought 1 player in henderson as the money from torres bought sauez and carroll .

30 Jun 2011 22:28:43
Ed's do you know anything about a possible return of Dudek? Apparently he'd be happy to back up Reina on the bench? And also an email is supposedly going around from 'Mata' saying he'd opt for Liverpool over Arsenal, due to them having no desire to win anything whereas we are... Blah blah blah, but I don't suppose you know anything do you?
YNWA. {Ed002's Note - I guess you have already answered your own questions.}

30 Jun 2011 22:24:38
Liverpool look like they are going to put a bid in for sakho PSG are looking for 22.5 million

30 Jun 2011 22:13:24
eds with nasri and clichy close to signing for manchester city, would this facilitate in the adam johnson move to liverpool? {Ed002's Note - I guess we don't know.}

30 Jun 2011 21:47:13
Apparently we've put in a £22m bid for Mata... It's just what I've heard, could be possibly I'm not sure so please don't judge if I'm wrong. Ed's do you have and info that could be shared about this?
Great site, YNWA. {Ed001's Note - I don't have any new info on it sorry.}

Liverpool are interested in Inter Milan left-back Cristian Chivu, but reports in Italy say that they will face competition from Valencia and Napoli for his signature.

With domestic target Gael Clichy set to join Manchester City instead , Kenny Dalglish may now turn his attentions back to the Romanian defender.

I really hope not this has gotta be one of the worst transfer rumours ever by "the daily mirror", this fella has got a bigger waist line than Jan Molby & to top that he is f**kin sh**e, I cant believe they actually posted this on LFCtv, gotta be a joke, cos I am still laffin............on a serious note got a couple of blu s**te mates who reckon the baines transfer may have some legs......

Sergio Aguero could be joining Liverpool

www.kopsource.com/atletico-president-drops-aguero-to-liverpool-hint/

ed what do you make of this? {Ed009's Note - I doubt it means he is likely to be joining - as he says he has no idea. In all likelihood he has probably just read everyone on here saying he might join, and figured there is a chance...}

30 Jun 2011 20:54:12
Hi Ed's and fellow Reds, just wondering regarding Aquaman (or Aquilani if you prefer), why is everyone so sure he doesn't want to play for us?
From what I've seen him/his agent say, he wants to be in Italy, that might just be for family reasons, or even the weather?
Is there not still every chance if we keep him that he will put 100% in to it week in week out?
LfcWes605 {Ed009's Note - he didn't put 100% in before the loan move - he's incredibly talented but Benitez was astounded by his performances even in training, pulling out of tackles and pretending to be injured. If he was to come back I'm sure he'd do a job but a mutually agreeable deal where neither party has to deal with each other next season, will be sought out.}

30 Jun 2011 20:41:11
I have it on good authority that we have agreed a fee with Hull City for Tom Cairney. Hence the quickly arranged pre-season friendly with Hull City. This was confirmed today by Grimsby Town FC "Hull City have pulled out of the pre-season friendly game against the Mariners which was scheduled for July 23rd. The Tigers will now play Liverpool on the same day which has been arranged because of an impending player transfer between the two clubs."

30 Jun 2011 20:15:24
Eds, anyone, it seems to have all gone quiet on the jeffren front Is there still interest in the player? I know our main targets at present are Adam and Downing, but there seemed to be a possibility a few weeks back? {Ed009's Note - the player would no doubt be interest in the move, but it would seem we are not so keen. Not such a bad thing if you ask me as he is a continental Lennon, but not even with so much pace.}

30 Jun 2011 19:23:18
Hi eds love the site, i was just wondering if you could shed some light on jan vertonghen, pastore, mata and who you think will be our new no.3 cheers

YNWA... {Ed009's Note - Vertonghen has been the subject of intense, protracted interest from City and Arsenal. Forced to guess a destination I would say he could well move to City. Pastore is a fantastic player and Palermo know this. He won't be moving for much short of 40 million and I believe he could be part of a drawn out transfer saga this summer, which will likely result in him remaining at his current club. Mata is in the same situation as ever; he is interested in our club, its guarantees of first team football, and is unique in his lack of an obsession with immediate Champions League football. There is, however, potential opposition from City and Barcelona. If this one goes down to a fierce bidding war, I think we both could estimate who would win.}

30 Jun 2011 19:20:05
Been hearing a rumour over the past couple of weeks that isn't going away. Apparently, despite signing a contract extension in November last year that we could be in for Chiellini from Juve. Has anyone else heard that?

30 Jun 2011 19:19:49
Ed...

Do you have any idea of wich players are possibly leaving before the window closes? Are we going to struggle to get rid of the likes of Cole and Jova and are they really earning the ridiculous wages that have been mentioned in evey paper on earth? {Ed009's Note - I seem to remember both Cole and Jova earning in the region of 70,000 a week. The inflated fee the newspapers report is due to the signing on fee which is paid in chunks throughout the contract. Unfortunately making poor free signings can be incredibly costly, as we see here. Even if we do sell the two players, which I see as relatively likely due to previous interest in them, we are unlikely to make a profit at all due to having to pay the remainder of their fee.}

Comrades

Liverpool are showing heavy interest in Alex Baptiste, 25 year old Central Defender at Blackpool. Can also play anywhere along the back foour.

I heard yesterday that we'r getting a 17yr old striker from wolves, my mate's cousin is with liverpool academy and he heard it from his agent.

30 Jun 2011 20:19:16
Defoe may sign, regardless of transfer policy, Kenny Kenny wants an experienced BPL striker to come in along with an experienced keeper - all others will be 21-25 ish
If fee is reasonable at around 5 - 7million Defoe will sign

Ed009.Re the Downing situation, what is happening? It seems to have died down. We haven't pulled out of the deal have we.Like you said he'll provide ammo for Carroll and whoever else is making runs into the box. His crossing is as good as any plus he can play on both flanks. Why doesn't he put in a transfer request like he did at Boro? I know he splits opinion but i think were we stand re C.League football, he's the type of player that could get us their and then people can start dreaming of Hazzard and co coming, might get their wish, just a season late. Jonson6 {Ed009's Note - we're doing everything in our power to sign the player, I believe it is just a question of sorting out a fee with Villa, which, if Kenny really wants the player, will happen. There could of course be a case of new targets that have recently become available taking preference.}

30 Jun 2011 19:55:02
Ed, why on earth don't we make a move for DJ Campbell of Blackpool. You might say oh he's not good enough, but for 1.25 million and 13 LEAGUE GOALS last year, I think he would be a very good back-up striker and he would jump at the chance of signing for Liverpool Please reply Ed, Thank you so much {Ed009's Note - the player is almost 30 and would not represent value for money in my opinion. There is a marked difference between scoring goals for a team who play all out attacking football with no pressure and raising that to a team of Liverpool's stature.}

30 Jun 2011 19:52:46
Ed what is happening with adam johnson as we certainly were interested? Rumours today that we have agreed a fee for him, could that be linked in with city bidding for nasri {Ed009's Note - I haven't heard any rumours that we have agreed a fee, but we certainly were interested and, provided City buy a few more wingers, there is a chance if we make a significant bid for a player Mancini does not want at the club.}

30 Jun 2011 19:45:44
I have just met Matt Gilks at my daughters school presentation evening in Oldham (Fir Bank). I asked the obvious question about Adam joining us and he said that he is surprised it has not happened yet, but it will happen he said. I had faith before as my main connection said that he was pretty much certain it would happen (my contact is very close to KK).

Obviously there is something holding things up but it is obvious that we want Adam and he wants us. If it does not happen it will because of other parties and not us or him.

HI eds: just heard on talksprt radio that liverpool have to get 30 million off of the wage bill before we can buy anymore players so is that is true I can not see adam, or downing, mata or any other player coming to liverpool this summer also on skysports clichy is now on his way to man city for 7 million another player we were meant to be after gone. what do you think of this eds: {Ed009's Note - Talksport are a pile of lies, and this is certainly not true.}

Liverpool edges closer to signing of sevilla youngster Antonio Cotan if reports to be believed which are coming from Spain as well as England.
According to the mirror, the reds have 'sent representatives' to Spain in order to finalize a deal for teenager.

ED...i know every1 is talking bout left back being a priority, but cud we not jus keep Glen Johnson as our left back? martin kelly was playing well as right back and altho he is seen as a future centre back, i think we shud keep him at RB
i think we need to sign another striker...one young enough but also proven...any chance of us signing sturridge?

thanks... YNWA {Ed009's Note - I think we will try to sign a left back (likely from abroad), but Kenny will not resort to making a desperate signing, as he likely has faith in the combination of Johnson, Robinson and Aurelio. Wickham has always been the most likely striker, but if he doesn't sign for us, I imagine it will be another young, relatively cheap player. Sturridge was offered to us as part of the Torres deal and unless Villas Boas decides he is needed there is a chance I suppose - but he would not come cheap.}

30 Jun 2011 18:21:25
ED ..........I am hearing that we are due to meet eto, s agents over the weekend..can you shed any light on this {Ed009's Note - I have heard nothing of the sort and don't see an ageing superstar as a viable signing.}

30 Jun 2011 18:10:24
evening Edward's and macca if that's is your real name how are you all 2night right just a quick one with most of our targets now gone and the few left who we want looking like their signing for other clubs who else is their left for us to buy that could make us a top 4 club again
or is it just a case of where going to get whats left or do you think KK has a plan

plus one more question any truth in kenny bring in Ray Wilkins to work under kenny and clark ?

i know i said one question but hey im a cheeky scouser

ramy the red {Ed002's Note - I am sure that we will see some more movement in the transfer market. I don't know of anything other than rumours about Ray Wilkins but I am sure he would leao at the chance if it were to arise.}

30 Jun 2011 17:41:12
hi edds whats your thoughts on the chance of us getting jovetic, he rip us apart and is amazing talent. any idea of cost i see people say he is available.
thanks mattyf {Ed009's Note - Benitez was previously interested in the player, and I believe he stated he wasn't interested in the move. Since then interest seems to have died - he is a very good player though.}

30 Jun 2011 17:42:09
Man city close in on clichy another target lost. Fabregas also going to barca for 35m n we spent that much on carroll we could have got fab for that much but would he join us? {Ed009's Note - no, he wouldn't. The only team he will leave Arsenal for is Barca.}

30 Jun 2011 17:32:10
I don't mean to moan, or be rude but I'm bored of writing on the this and none of my posts seem to be shown or answered... So could you possibly tell me the latest if any on Gareth Bale as I've always been a major fan of his.
Thanks. {Ed009's Note - Gareth Bale is almost certainly not going to be signing. He would cost a farcical amount, which he is nowhere near worth - although I too am a fan of his - and he previously disrespected Liverpool.}

30 Jun 2011 17:08:01
Ed, carrie baird(she is a licensed FIFA agent) has said that we have met with lavezzi's reps in the last 2 months. Do you know if we are interested in signing him? {Ed009's Note - We were certainly interested in the player, but that interest pre-dated the January transfer window. Napoli are a club who want to push for success in Europe and domestically and will want to keep hold of arguably their best player. Its also important to remember that many people believe clubs have interest in Lavezzi down simply to his agents ability - he convinces people clubs are interested by doing quite the opposite, he claims they aren't.}

30 Jun 2011 16:20:56
Hi Ed's,

Question but it may turn out the answer is linked to a rumour.

We now have a pre-season friendly with Hull City; now if I remember correctly (although this was when Hodgson was in charge) there was a big fallout last season over Ayala; he was injured and we wanted him to return for treatment and Hull stuck to keeping him till 1st Jan. This lead Hodgson to say we would never loan them another player again and any links with them seemed to go.

Now I appreciate we have a new Manager but even so it would appear strange to have a friendly with them (I mean they are struggling to pay Bullards wages) so we can't have a huge financial gain in playing them.

Any thing going on behind the scenes in terms of a player of there's we want (I presume youngster - I'm also presuming 2 + 2 may equal 5)

Thanks

Hoola {Ed002's Note - I don't know, but you need to check if it is one of these obscure "Liverpool XI" friendlies with few if any of the first team squad. A chance for El Zhar and others to get a run out.}

Just been speaking to my sources who are close to the club and managed to find out the following

C*****e A**m - This is due to finalised by mid next week. Medical has been pencilled in for weds. Comolli just negoitating additional add ons.

Downing - Interest has been dropped in Downing as the board refuse to sanction the 19m. The maximum we will go to is £15m

Nasri - Liverpool made initial enquiries but this will be hard to pull off due to Man city and Man Utd's interest

Baines - We have enquired about him and Everton are willing to sell him. They were hoping to start a bidding war with Arsenal and Man City. Dalglish is very keen to push through this deal

Aguero - We have spoken to his club and agreed a fee in principle but wage demands are a concern. If he is willing to lower his wage demands this could be a strong possibility

Mata - We are interested but Man City, Arsenal and Chelsea have showed interest so this could be hard to pull off

Not a rumour but important news for LFC fans:

Apparently Kelvin McKenzie, who published The Sun's lies about LFC fans after Hillsborough, and who has never openly apologised for his actions, has moved to the Daily Mail today.

Those terrible headlines were his doing, and it is him that all Liverpool supporters should remember as the real source of those lies that added to the devastation of the bereaved families.

There is good reason to publicise his move as widely as possible among Liverpool supporters, and to boycott the Daily Mail, if this evil poisonous lout is in charge of any significant part of it.

I would urge people to spread the word of McKenzie's move on all LFC websites, and consider what action to take. {Ed007's Note - It is not just LFC fans that hate that pond life, JFT96}

hi eds it seems rossi isn't going to barca . but juve are highly interested in him.can we made a bid ? what do you think of him ? i think it will cost about 25 mill.

SUAREZ&GERRARD. {Ed002's Note - It seems most unlikely to me when other areas of the team need strengthening first.}

30 Jun 2011 16:26:31
Have a huge feeling we'll sign Cissokho, any chance Ed? {Ed002's Note - Cissokho will probably not be leaving Lyon this summer unless a high fee is paid. Manchester City may be willing to oblige but if they buy elsewhere as seems possible, then Liverpool could step in with a bid, but I fear he will not come cheap.}

30 Jun 2011 16:23:32
Ed, what do you make of the latest speculation on Merieles leaving to Inter Milan for 12 million, i believe if we sell him it will be an other Alonso mistake and the only way for KK to justify that decision is to bring in a top quality cm who is better than what we have got. Please reply ;D YNWA {Ed002's Note - He does appear to be on the way out.}

Skysports confirms Patore's valuation met:

Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini confirmed on Wednesday that there was only a 10 per cent chance he would remain with the Sicilian side as an unnamed club had made a 50m bid (£45.1m).

Pastore's agent Marcelo Simonian backed up Zamparini's claim, so the player is set to leave Palermo this summer with their asking price having been met.

But Simonian has left the door open for a bidding war, saying that one of his other suitors are welcome to step in with a bigger bid.

Surely we wouldn't pay that much for him? Or would we? Eds? {Ed002's Note - Liverpool are not the cash bidder. The other bidders have not offered a cash only deal and options include part ownership - which Liverpool are unable to offer.}

ScouseRed {Ed002's Note - Aguero is in South America right now and as far as I know, nothing has changed at all.}

These are the deals being worked on in the back round...
lb michael kadlec bayer leverkusan..£6m
cd jan vertonghen ajax..£14m
aml juan mata valencia..£14m plus meireles
amc c*****e a**m balckpool..£8m plus loans
amr javier pastore palermo..£21m plus aquilani
sc papiss demba cisse freiburg..£14m....

A lot of fringe squad players to be sold to balance the books...javier pastore is the most diffocult of the transfer above as man citty are involved so we might have to look else where...the rest are solid

Many of us seem to live in a dream world, there will be no Augero, Mata or Lavezzi. Henry said himself that buying English/British is better. We will be getting the likes of A**m, Downing (hope not). our wage bill is to high, the likes of Cole, Poulsen and Jano must go. I believe we will sign Adams, Johnston from City, I do hope more than anyone that we do go for Mata though, just dont see it. Baines wont happen, Moyes wont let it. Clichy may come but I think he is just looking for money, I still see a surprise signing at left back. The winger we will get will be Jeffern from Barcalona.

Liverpool appear to be edging closer to the signing of Sevilla youngster Antonio Cotan, if reports in today's media are to be believed.

According to The Mirror, the Reds have 'sent representatives' to Spain in order to finalise a deal for teenager, who has also attracted interest from Chelsea and Inter Milan.

Liverpool, however, look set to beat their rivals to the signature of the right-sided midfielder after employing the services of agent Alvaro Torres to conclude negotiations.

The acquisition of Cotan would serve as further evidence of Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group (FSG) fulfilling their pledge to bring the cream of European talent to Anfield.

Ajax looking to sell reds target Jan vertonghen
according to Dutch newspaper "Algemeen Dagblad".
The reports states that Liverpool and Arsenal are interested in the Belgian international, although none of the club have made a formal bid yet.
Ajax are willing to let him go for the right price.

Bit of info for you all:

Was told this morning that napoli may be interested in aquaman as a replacement for milan bound hamsik, its sketchy but palermo may also be interested if pastore goes.

The person which said jovetic will go is correct, fiorentina are desperately trying to offload him whilst at the same time keeping his recurring tendonitis a secret (same prob hargreaves has)

Aqua for 6 is what napoli will offer

Im taking it that we wont be signing anyone until maybe monday ed? Its the 1st so everybody knows the international window opens tomorrow, im led to believe we are working on a couple of players from other leagues and have been in talks with the players and clubs (left back and striker). And ofcourse agents of our players are working on finding them clubs. Im taking an educated guess to say it could be a busy few weeks ins and outs

30 Jun 2011 13:53:14
Ed, with Clichy on the verge of signing for Man City and Enrique seems to be Arsenall bound, who are our current targets for left back?

{Ed006's Note - I am not sure but if those transfers do happen what about Kolarov. He would be a good signing. I'd look at Baines myself.}

30 Jun 2011 14:57:30
Have heard that Liverpool are lining up a sizable bid for Leighton Baines in the coming week which is why interest has cooled on the Enrique/Clichy rumours. Would think that at least 20M would be needed to tempt Moyes to seel but apparently baines would be keen on the move.

30 Jun 2011 14:27:26
Hi Eds pease post this on rumours page.Honda avliable for 10million euro, wud e not be worth a bid. I no it middle of russian season but def a worthwhile bid?Also adam deal near finalised jus waiting for darby and shelvey to agree to loan terms with saturday the official deal will be struck.really think we should offer the 22mil to valencia and finish this mata saga.Turan is worth a bid for 14mil.way better option then 19mil for downing and has alot more potential. Cheers eds keep up the gud work. YNWA

there's a lot of buzz around anfield at the moment of a possible move for gareth bale. apparently the rumour is that liverpool are looking to spend up to 35 million as well as including either one of joe cole or jovanovic for the welsh international. Harry Redknapp has expressed a lot of interest in Joe Cole during the past year, especially after missing out on him last summer. apparently tottenham are prepared to pay 5 mill for Cole, which could tempt them to part company with Bale.

The Grimsby Town official website is reporting that their friendly with Hull City has been cancelled as Hull are now playing Liverpool on the as part of an impending transfer deal between the clubs. My first thought was that Ayala might be going to Hull. However, usually the small club gets the friendly as a sweetener when the big club buys one of their players. Looks like we may be about to sign a Hull City player - no idea who though.

Kenny will send Mike McGlynn to Argentina to take a look at Viruales Cardoza in August / September. He currently plays for Argentine lower division team 'Nueva Chicago' and has been attracting interest from a couple of Spanish teams and AC Milan.

A former Boca Juniors trainee, he is tipped to be the next Batistuta by many and at 19 years old, he could well be.

As far as Aguero goes, this is a dead duck, it completely goes against FSG's business approach and with Ath Madrid demanding bids start at £38 million, its not going to happen

Just been told outside Anfield about an hour ago in the queue for the ticket office by a guy with a club tie on, don't know who he was and he wasn't specifically talking to me I was eavesdropping if you like That LFC need to get the wage bill down and are looking to offload 7 / 9 players before we import anyone, but this job is being made hard by the large wages that they are on .. I immediately thought of Joe Cole So what this man said could easily be right.

Any views yourself Ed? {Ed001's Note - oh yes it regularly happens that club officials discuss the club's business in front of a queue of fans.}

Liverpool are lining up an audacious £27million bid for Manchester City duo Wayne Bridge and James Milner. It is rumoured Blues boss Roberto Mancini will accept a small loss on Milner at £20million as it will allow him to move for other targets such as Udinese's Alexis Sanchez, Napoli's Ezequiel Lavezzi or Neymar from Santos.

Just a quick note RE twitter. 95% of the accounts that people have suggested to follow are just people with no actual sources who recycle from newspapers and this site and are not genuinely 'in the know'.

30 Jun 2011 12:30:15
{Ed002's Note - You are right of course John. I also reckon the Kleenex will run out if a "big name" signing, such as Aguero, does arrive at Liverpool.}.

Just saying Ed, that was pure class. I can't reply to posts on my mobile (some javascript bull, whatever) but that was the best zinger I've seen on this site.

In other news, 12 million bid being lined up for Jovetic of Fiorentina, striking and wing cover and the lad's got some great feet on him.

Hi Eds plse post this on rumours page. Just heard a very interesting rumour from a good source. As someone has already posted I too have heard that Downing deal may be off due to an inequality of value (ie were not matching villas asking price and they dont have to sell after losing young) also until this morning i was convinced adam deal would eventually go through. However, exciting news for us reds fans (if my contact is to be believed) is that if (and its a big if) aquilani stays we wont follow through with the adam deal. Now I believe that it will probably result in aquilani finding a club abroad and adam will still come but my contact is convinced that another midfielder is about to sign from abroad (sissoko? mata? Diego?) and we wont sign another so my reading is at least one out but two in (excluding the expected mid field exits jovanovic, poulsen et al)
Question ed do we know if our owners are in the uk or are expected soon. Just that I know kk wants our dealings sorted before we head off for our pre season tour

keep up the good work
hol {Ed001's Note - the owners do not need to be at hand to sign off on deals. They have already sat down and given the ok for certain moves to be made and the budget for those moves. They do not need to be in place, it is just a conscious choice by them to get involved when they do.}

30 Jun 2011 12:14:26
Nzogbia is still wanting the Newcastle move which I've always maintained on here, but more interesting Enrique off to Arsenal.

"I returne to liverpool with great enthusiasm".

"This is not a problem. It's not true that I didn't want to return to England."

Alberto Aquilani told Sky Italia.
What's your opinion ed. {Ed002's Note - The club will continue to try and sell him.}

30 Jun 2011 11:42:34
DC and Kenny should go all out and sign Mata & Turan. We already have players who are capable of filling in the other 9 positions. Money needs to be spent, even if over 50M, Only then are we going to to be serious title candidates. Finally I don't believe there is any British players who come close to matching the ability and quality these 2 players have.

30 Jun 2011 11:04:05
Downing deal is off over priced at £19m and villa are unwilling to sell after losing young and liverpool have already got 2-3 deals ready just waiting for the little details to be sorted. ED i was just talking to my source and he said that william nearly signed for arsnal but aswell as other players arsenal want they want to play with players such as nasri and fabergas but as they look set for the door they just dont have the pulling power. william also has intrest from real madrid, juva, and ac millan but as i said in a before shaktar would have had there head turned by liverpools potential offer ED do you think that he would be a good buy and what do you know about it.

PS. what about douglas costa he seems like a good player i think we should go for him.

JG {Ed001's Note - sorry I haven't seen either player much, no idea how good they are.}

30 Jun 2011 10:53:15
Ok, now why do you people always downplay Alberto Aquilani. Lets say he does decide to stay at Liverpool FC, in my opinion, a steady and fit Aquilani can make Meireles look like a schoolboy. I agree that he is too injury prone, but if he was, then how do you jutify the fact that he had played 33 games for Juventus FC. That shows that he not VERY injury prone as we think. I think if he wants to stay and means it, then KK should give him a chance, play him where Meireles is played (Centre Attacking Midfield) and have Lucas and Gerrard be the spine of the midfield and i can assure you that Suarez and Alberto will link up better than Meireles and Suarez.

Oh and may i add that i heard that LFC will try to bid for Muniain within the next week. They see him as even better than other targets like Hazard and Shaquiri.

Great site eds, keep up the good work

30 Jun 2011 10:52:02
Alberto Aquilani is coming back to Anfield Question for the Eds, which midfielder is most likely to leave now that this is the situation? (Besides Poulsen and perhaps shelvey on loan) Because currently that's Gerrard, Meireles, Aquilani, Henderson, Spearing, Lucas and very possibly Adam. A scary midfield imo but 7 players for 2 spots is excessive {Ed002's Note - I expect Aquilani and Miereles to leave.}

30 Jun 2011 10:50:32
Inter have put Davide Santon for sale. Asking price is approx. 10M Euros. I think he can be a good option for us. Young and talented. Even though Roma are already in discussions.

30 Jun 2011 10:45:50
looks like city have nipped in and got clichy :( {Ed002's Note - I guess that would any interest they have in Baines then.}

30 Jun 2011 10:42:55
Hi everybody.

I stated Aquilani will return a month or so ago, just wanted to confirm and inform you all he will arrive back at melwood in the next two weeks to begin our warm up to pre-season.

Adzii {Ed002's Note - Whilst the club continues to deparately unload him and get his wages off the books. The final installment of 5M euros is to be paid today.}

--------------------------------------------------

Right i see, even though the player remains keen to stay in Italy, i can still see him at Liverpool next season. Not to my liking, but nobody will meet our £15m valuation (corrrect me if im wrong) because he simply hasnt warrented a £15m valuation. Its up to Liverpool to lower this price tag or be more open to negotiate. Now we have settled off our argreement with Roma, you'd feel more inclined to cut your losses?

Adzii

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool offered the player to Juventus for 10M euros (£8M and change) in the end, but they would offer no more than 7M euros.}

30 Jun 2011 10:38:21
just to let you all know something that has been told to me by my bro who has been in spain working, rumours are still very strong that aguero could still arrive in liverpool for next season, he is a chelsea fan so would not need to lie. i never believe any thing till its a done deal, but ppl in madrid are making large noises, .......just what i'cve heard

30 Jun 2011 10:31:22
Great post by Sami earlier The names you mentioned are very realistic and would definitely improve our squad immensely

Personally I would like to see the following players (realistically speaking of those who we could sign this summer)

Defence: Gary Cahill (He's young and English) and one of Zapata/ Vertonghen (he may end up at Arsenal because of his friendship with Vermaelen) also for LB Vargas/Cissokho would be great

Mid: Turan and Mata best options for flanks.. and in the middle Adam and one of Gago or Vidal (can play RB as well)

Forwards: I think if we go in for a Lavezzi and Cavani double swoop at Napoli. That would just be the nail in the coffin and we're set for a serious title challenge next year. Heres hoping YNWA {Ed002's Note - And where is the £130M or so needed to pay for these players going to come from?}

30 Jun 2011 10:30:24
Right guys i dont see what all the panic is the window is a long way from closing yet. The downing deal doesnt look like its going through. But who knows. Mata will not be signing, lennon was complete bull, adan deal has been done and will be announced on weekend. Hazard talks have started again but dont hold your breath on that one. Clichy deal has gone through to so peeps do not worry

Scaggieboi

30 Jun 2011 10:26:10
HI Ed's great site. Just wondering what happened to Zapata joining us? it seemed a done deal but now its gone cold. Any news? {Ed002's Note - Villareal, Liverpool, Inter, Bayern Munich, Valencia and Roma are interested in the Udinese centre back and I understand that Villareal have permission to talk to the player's representatives.}

30 Jun 2011 10:05:43
Downing won't sign. John W Henry has intervened, Downing is simply too old and too much money, no re-sale value. Unless we pull off a deal under 12 million it simply won't happen.

30 Jun 2011 10:04:09
ED do you know what is happening with the left back situation as it seems to have gone all quiet ? {Ed002's Note - Not really. Regardless of what they say, Newcastle are actively seeking a replacement for Enrique, but he may being interesting PSG or Roma rather than Clichy. Clichy is Roma's first choice but the feeling was a deal was possible with Liverpool and money was the issue. Vargas is in South America and I don't think there has been any further contact for him. Izaguirre seems to be out of the picture right now.}

30 Jun 2011 10:01:31
Macca, with us backing out of signing Wickham, do you think that means they already have another 'third' striker in mind now, who they think will suit us even better?

Let's face it Wickham wasn't too expensive considering his potential, and his wages wouldn't have been that high surely?

I know its guesswork, but why do you think we backed out at the last minute? Or did Sunderland just tempt him with higher wages, do you think?

30 Jun 2011 09:59:41
Forget Hazard - he wants to go to PSG. His coach at Lille has said he'll be speaking with him on Sunday because he doesn't think going to PSG makes sense. Lille move into a new 50,000 seater stadium, are champions and will play CL - so kind of see his point. The quatari's own PSG but they are not going crazy with the transfers just yet - unlike Citeh - but anyhows don't think he'll be wearing the red of Liverpool

30 Jun 2011 09:41:09
Liverpool will pay 20 million for mata because of interest from Arsenal and Spurs

30 Jun 2011 09:22:01
ed whats the chane say outa 100 that we will sign nzogbia? id love to see him at lfc, best winger in league IMHO.
lfc all the way,

30 Jun 2011 09:20:35
Ed002, don't know if it's just me, but you seem to have, well, "calm down" or been more tolerant of some of the repetitive questions.
Remember some weeks back you'd frequently either not respond at all or refer the poster to an "earlier discussion on the matter".
Anything to do with yer "round-the-world tour" perhaps?

Anyway, I see that you're giving Hazard a 1/10. Why? Personally, I think it's fair to say there's ZERO chance of the move. A Torres return is more likely, I'd say.

The lad just doesn't want to come. He's been brutally clear about that. (He'd rather go to PSG than us.)

So I see no point in pushing for him.
Folk should just accept that and instead focus on those players who want to play for us.

Owing to many different reasons the following players, in my POV, won't be turning out for LFC, now or ever:-

Neven Subotic, Fabio Coentrao, Eden Hazard, Alexis Sanchez, Erik Lamela, Lucas Moura, Neymar Santos, Javier Pastore, Sergio Aguero, Xabi Alonso, Juan Iturbe,
0/10.

Where we could be and believe are, looking, is here:

DEFENCE:-
Scott Dann, Gary Cahill, Mamadou Sakho, Kyriakos Papadopolous, "Cristian Zapata", Jan Vertonghen, Rolando, Musacchio, Raul Albiol, Jose Enrique, Gael Clichy, Emilio Izaguirre, Jose Angel, Leighton Baines, Aly Cissokho, Juan Vargas, Micah Richards, Milosevic

WINGS:-
Ryad Boudebouz, Stewart Downing, Diego Perroti, Arda Turan, Pablo Hernandez, Juan Mata, Willian, Jeffren Suarez, Marko Marin

MIDFIELD:-
Charlie Adam, Moussa Sissoko, Blaise Matuidi, Diego, Jack Rodwell, Fernando Gago, Arturo Vidal

FORWARD:-
Benjamin Moukandjo, Nolan Roux, Paco Alcacer, Karim Benzema, Ezequiel Lavezzi, "Edinson Cavani", Fernando Llorente, Iker Munian

I'm not saying that these players will, no. Just my opinion that, those eight, or even ten, new signings will likely come from these groups.

So, ed, that summary would be in the right ballpark, wouldn't it?
Lastly, that player/transfer database you folk are putting together, how's it coming along?

Govan Sami {Ed002's Note - Thanks for the well thought out post. I think you are right that I have been going soft recently - I'll try and get back to my old self. Broadly the lists you have produced look about right from what we know at present. The database is a work related product for me and it allows updates from others in terms of information being confirmed, rumoured etc.. It is enlightening to spend time here where many of the "targets" are not included, It tends to be near complete for soem regions (South America for example) but woeful for other (Africa, Japan). So we keep getting it updated.}

30 Jun 2011 09:14:14
Hi eds, I really think KK and DC have a big surprise up there sleeve, everything is just soo quiet, like the calm before the storm if you like. For some reason I keep thinking we could sign Gareth Bale, I know I'm probably going to get shot out of the water here, but 25 million plus meireles could very well tempt the spuds. Great site eds, keep up the good work

30 Jun 2011 08:47:22
Adam and Downing will sign today or tomorrow. Blackpool needed to get a replacement and we were sorting out who was going out on loan. Downing we just needed to agree a fee with Villa, which I am told we have now.

Mata is still a target, and to the guy who said he seen Mata in London, fairplay as DC met with Mata and his dad (agent) yesterday, in London. N'zogbia is a target but is likely to be a late window signing if anything. Hazard is also a target but only one of him and Mata will sign.

Sakho is interested in us, but PSG's new owners are trying to convince him to stay. Cissokho wants the move too, but Lyon making it difficult for us. Same with Clichy. Cahill, Samba, Sakho Lovren are the top CB targets.

30 Jun 2011 08:26:16
To all KOPITES
plz. stop critisizing DC and the KING.
Just think that the KING is so eager to sign ADAM that he is loaning 2 youngsters.
If KING is interested then there must be something special in ADAM.
Remember when alonso came from Real Sociedad.It is becoming same senareo.
Adam will be the new alonso.wait n watch.
n my sources says that
TURAN will sign for LFC
IN KING WE TRUST.
LFC FOREVER.

30 Jun 2011 08:11:41
william will join from shaktar donctest for £11m + insua as part of the deal. also adam and downing will join but they will be one of the oldest signings liverpool make from now on and diago will not join hes disruptive and he could not make it in a juva team so no chance of him getting into the liverpool team oh and hes old.

JG {Ed002's Note - Willian has been very close to joining Arsenal, but he is available and the price you suggest is about right.}

30 Jun 2011 08:10:15
Do you think there is much chance or Riise coming back as KD said there will be a familar face or two returning, or is that likely to be Insua? {Ed002's Note - I don't think there is too high a chance - but he could certainly act as a stop gap for a couple of years if cheap.}

30 Jun 2011 07:59:15
lfc to sign pato, 20 mil plus aquilani

30 Jun 2011 07:45:32
Ed...kindly have your Opininon on the Below mentioned points..

Why are we seriously Intersted in Downing? is he wrth 18 mill and also he is almost 27?? whats ur say?
also y are we not seriously bidding for Mata may 23 mill..but common...he is the Best we could ever get this window...
and we are ready to pay 19 mill for downing who is far behind Mata....

Y did we never was serious about Turan and Payet? we could have landed both together in a 20 mill deal...u think we missed a great chance in landing both excellent wingers?? i mean turan is a life long fan of pool..and he would have given his life on the line while playing like Kuyt?
Also payet was sold for mere 9 mill??...whats ur opinion on this?

FSG says we will only consider bringing young talent may be 20-22 years old...In a way its a bright prospect..
BUt see Arsenal..they bought every new kid and when they almost transformed into a good player..leaves them empty handed and moving to Barca, Manu, real..(Eg..fabrigas, nasri, Clichy)

Should we Lok more Relaestically that we should buy players who can turn Liverpool into a force in 2 years...so that we attract big players in coming season?

Are you happy for selling Meireles?? we have complained mascherano, torres, and others who left us wen we needed..
And Now we are selling someone..who has played execptioanally well for us..even without his willingness?...is it good??

Kindly have your opinon on this??

In Pool We alwasy Trust...YNWA {Ed002's Note - It is impossible to say why the Liverpool management team have not bid for every winger in Europe. There is interest in Downing because they believe he can improve the squad. There will likely be another winger joining as well, so perhaps one that you have listed will be at Anfield next year - keeping in mind that the transfer window has yet to open. Payet has moved to a club who are their national champions and in the Champions League - hardly a bad move. I suspect Meireles will leave, but expect that the money raised will be available for transfers.}

30 Jun 2011 07:42:00
First time posting - just been reading that City have beaten us to the signing of Clichy for £7m, apparently we only offered £5m.

Yet another one slips away, obviously I'm never sure how many of the players we're linked with are just paper talk but I'm getting a little nervous that we don't seem to be finalising any of these deals - Young, Wickham, Marveaux (who we'd courted for ages) and now possibly Clichy, be nice to know what's really been going on with some of these.....

and what about the dead weights any hope of selling them {Ed002's Note - Ngog has not left yet. Players will certainly be leaving.}

30 Jun 2011 06:59:02
Wel Macca,

Well done again, ha ha, had a change of heart did he, thats a great excuse again. I thought that we wouldn't pay the same as Sunderland

But as usual i guess you know best
Your not hiding behind excuses again are you?

Andy Ireland...

30 Jun 2011 05:52:53
Hey Ed- any chance of LFC signing Clint Dempsey? I haven't heard anything of the sort, and realize he is not as naturally talented as others we're being linked with, but he will bring experience and is always pushing on in the final third. If we do consider him, could he play as a winger for us effectively? Thanks for the great site, and keep the faith my fellow reds. YNWA -- AZkop {Ed002's Note - It is near impossible to answer questions like this. There is no known interest in the player. But if suddenly the management team decide to get interested in Dempsey, who is 28, then maybe.}

30 Jun 2011 01:20:39
Aquilani: "I'm returning to Liverpool with enthusiasm. Juventus? There were restrictions."

What do you make of this Ed?

Iam 50/50 about it
- i'd like to see him back, and given a fair chance and a run of games (whether that be from the bench or not)
- Part of me is saying he's only said that because he HAS to
- He is TOO injury prone
- His wages are 80,000 a week, and i thought we where meant to be cutting down on the wage bill and finding buyers for the likes of him, jova, poulson etc you know the usual suspects.

Oh and just to offer my input on Sammy Lee leaving, iam glad he has left tbh, i would:
a) promote Steve Clarke to Kenny's assistant
b) look at appointing Paco as first team coach, if we couldn't get Paco, i would go for Franco Baldini he is actually a liverpool fan you know and attends many Liverpool games like Alonso, as well as being a world class coach.
c) anyway my gut is saying Paco, because i remember Kenny saying something about a familiar face returning to the club, i also find it a bit coincidental the season he left Liverpool played poorly

And just one question Ed
Whats the situation with Meireles?
I got told by someone there was a clause in his contract that entitled him to double his wages if he had a effective & productive first season, and now Henry doesn't think he should be earning £60,000 a week

Thanks Ed
Dan {Ed002's Note - If Aquilani has said anything like that then he is being politically correct until the club can off load him - he can hardly go back on what he has said. Clarke is Assistant Manager, so your wish has come true. Meireles will almost certainly be leaving.}

30 Jun 2011 00:54:05
Hi Ed's, gotta keep you busy in the small hours..

Any news on Oxelaide-Chamberlin recently. Was rumoured to be in talks with Arsenal but then we were strongly linked. Everything's gone quiet recently. Also isn't it the deadline for a decision on the stadium tomorrow? I really hope something happens soon transfer wise, just to stop all the infighting on here

FatJanMolby {Ed002's Note - Oxlade-Chamberlain will almost certainly be moving to Arsenal. As for the stadium, I am not sure what dealine you are referring to.}

on a scale from 1 to 10, how do you rate the chance of getting; Honda, Hazard, Adam Johnson, Mata, Cissokho, Jose Angel, Downing, Adam, Aguero, thank you, great job on the site from all the ed's :) {Ed002's Note - 3, 1, 3, 4, 2, 1, 8, 9, 1}

HI again- this is a question for Ed- i just want to know what players he thinks Liverpool will buy this summer(if any)? id like ryad boudebouz, clichy, zappata, hazard, and mata..but what does Ed think? im getting kinda tired of checking the rumours all day. i donw want Downing but would be happy enough with Adam, also i hear Andy Reid is without a club. Cheers {Ed002's Note - I am afraid that I don't want to be guessing at what may happen. Adam and Downing are getting close.}
