Sterling loan to West Ham talks taking place. Will happen if Astu signs. Should see this come out in press by end of week.

Also hearing Papa bid is loan to buy. Skrtel same situation to Napoli. Skrtel only if CB in place. So far Schalke no go unless high fee plus top transfer fee at end of loan.

Lastly. No more incoming unless funds from Suarez sale. Which looks unlikely as RM official bid of £85m to be accepted from above Levy. Arsenal unlikely to bid LFC target amount.
FSG shut wallet was no budget this summer only cash from sales and money to improve contracts. Cash now towards stadium. Bad news? Depends on loans and Suarez I guess.

Believable7 Unbelievable109

What a load of rubbish, don't believe some people actually swallow everything they read. was one of our best players last season.

Agree1 Disagree0

Load of rubbish pal

Agree1 Disagree0

Seems pointless to buy benfica PROSPECT whos been loaned out.

to then loan out sterling whos had impressive year 1 and impressive pre-season. does this mean were persisting with borini whos been so productive so far

Agree3 Disagree0

What about the money we bid on mykhitaryan were did it go?

Agree1 Disagree2

What's with all the loans
we got ties to Wonga or something?
lets hope we are charging the same rates :P

Agree2 Disagree0

Rogers sings the praises of Sterling and Ibe and now we'll loan Sterling out to West Ham? No way Jose as they say. And you not only know what plans the Reds have you know that Levy will be forced to sell Bale so you've an "In" with 2 clubs. Indeed it's a load of rubbish.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sterling won't be going anywhere and the money element well I reckon you just made that all up.

Agree0 Disagree0

Educated guess on all accounts.

Agree0 Disagree1

I agree that the Sterling to West Ham on loan is a little bizzare as they play a different style of football to Liverpool, so I don't really see the benefit from him being sent there.

Also, to the guy who wrote the 1st reply. If you thought Sterling was one of our best players last year then you need to get your eyes tested. He was good in parts and massively tailed off towards the 2nd half of the season. where he hardly featured at all towards the end (even when fit).

He looks a great prospect, but that's all at the moment. People frustrate me when they talk about the kid like he is Christiano Ronaldo. He isn't and probably never will be. let's just wait ans see what happens. but I for one definitely would say that he was no where near one of our best players.

Agree0 Disagree1

Sterling to West Ham! What rubbish.

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe is that Ibe has done better? If Sterling will not get the game time, as different WH style is, they cross into AC all day long. Maybe that improves his game? WH have produced a lot of players through their youth system so let's not knock completely.

Also with rumours of the youth and first team being moved maybe that's where the FSG cash is going? Its common knowledge they want self sufficiency.

Also Spurs are not owned by Levy, do you think any owner would turn down £85m for one player? Few have said Bale has had two good seasons. So if he doesn't have a third one? what's his value? £40m? £50m? Injuries pick up again? FFP comes into play? Value then?

And good question raised, where is the Mkytrian cash? Cause was there an official bid made?

Agree1 Disagree0

Nonsense.

Why would Lpool loan out Sterling instead of keeping him for the squad?

In saying that i'm really unhappy at how the club is run atm, Napoli are minted and already had a big transfer chest even before they sold Cavani.

Why have we let Reina go on loan there with no buy clause next year.it makes no sense to not put him up for sale if VR doesn't want him. Now if they let Skyrtel go on loan when they have the money to buy him now then something is really wrong at our club.

Rodgers is just a yes man, he tells lies like Lpool fans are muppets.

Firstly last year he in a press conference told us we were going to be really excited with the superstar we were bringing in. nothing but Sahin on loan a while later.

Then he says Reina needed competition which was a blatant lie as Pepe wanted to sign a new contract if Barca never came in, we now know he was told last minute he was going on loan, BR then backtracked again.

Just recently he stated we needed to add at least 4 players just to add squad depth, so we get rid of Reina, Shelvey, Sterling, Pachecho with a couple of kids, we are about to get rid of Assaidi and maybe a few others.

Now that means at this point we have 4 new faces but have lost more so the squad is even smaller. If we bring in another couple of players like Papa and say an att mid we will be defo losing Skyrtel and Suarez. So please tell me just how the squad is better and has more depth please Mr Rodgers? Write down who has come in and out, who is going on loan/sold and sorry but we are falling fast.

Agree0 Disagree0

Unnamed clueless posts are the bane of my life.

Sterling WH makes perfect sense. A lot more game time, bulk up to fit the style required and working with a system that would benefit him ie direct wing play.

Napoli have absolutely no intention whatsoever of signing Reina after the loan, Reina would not want to stay as he wants Barca. He said he wants to leave is for Barca. Rodgers does the perfect thing of signing a younger better keeper to replace Pepe and forces him out. Pepe wasn't committed to us anymore and so had to leave.

Hi Eds,

Any truth in the rumours of Sterling going to Wedt Ham on loan. Personally I think it would be a good move for both clubs

WillyB {Ed001's Note - they asked about taking him on loan, not sure if we are willing to let him go though. I hope not, it would be a huge mistake to let Fat Scam order the ball hoofed over his head every week.}

Believable2 Unbelievable41

Ed001 show a little respect please, west ham play a lovely flowing style of football. Just as Joe Cole! {Ed001's Note - the sad thing is, they used to before Scam took charge.}

Agree1 Disagree2

, yeah, didn't think of it that way! Cheers Ed001
WillyB

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree with you ed, he wouldn't pick up any technical attributes there and would be better suited and Liverpool or even southampton. Plus selling him would decrease the chances of them bidding for Downing.

Agree0 Disagree0

Son of the owner tweeted it is all agreed. {Ed001's Note - he never said anything about it being Sterling, that was just people guessing.}

Agree0 Disagree1

I'm sure it would be good for West Ham to get an outstanding player on loan but how it would be good for us totally escapes me mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

We should definitely be holding on to him and all he would learn there is how to chase balls and likely he'd bang into a keeper at some stage and get injured.

Also strange for West Ham as they have Jarvis for the right who is there to cross the ball to Carroll and I thought they'd want someone to cross from the left. Sterling is better at cutting inside and playing passes & through balls mainly to feet not crossing for headers he's not that type of player.

Agree0 Disagree0

He will benefit from going on loan and playing week in week out - although maybe not West Ham.

I believe Sterling will only see limited game time at Liverpool. He has potential but has a lot to learn. You don't do that sitting on the bench.

Hi ed's, just a question I hope isn't true, its raheem sterling to west ham on loan but to buy at end of season for £12m? Really hope its b*******, but bit worried, with pepe and now skrtel to be going on loan to napoli, are the ownersa having a clear out sale, to cash in b4 they sell? Just tell me its a load of tosh, and give me and others some re-assuring! Getting stressed lately! {Ed001's Note - it is nonsense.}

Believable3 Unbelievable44

Skrtel is being loaned out . there for FSG are scheming, selling the club, taking what they can get bla bla bla!

2 + 2 = 10

You've just shown you're absolutely clueless and like others to do your thinking for you on anti FSG forums.

You are what's wrong with LFC fans at the moment

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would we loan him? Not for experience since he'll be playing in the first team in the upcoming season. Sell him after him signing his new contract only last season? He's not on the huge wages that Reina's on so you wouldn't even save much money by loaning him out so the whole rumour's tripe.

Agree0 Disagree0

Plank - if you're talking about Skrtel, he's on 80k a week wages. Far too high if you consider BR prefers Kolo and possibly Papa if we get him in, ahead of him in the pecking order. Fourth choice CB on that money isn't good business. When Kelly and Wisdom can play fourth & fifth choice CB, both on a fraction of that wage combined.

And it's not because FSG are cost cutting like the persons want to jump all over. It's so BR can free up cash to bring in better players. If BR wanted to keep Skrtel he could. It's not some scheme by FSG
There's nothing wrong with looking for value for money and making sure we don't ever again get stuck with average players on our books on huge wages, and not able to shift because they won't move.

Agree0 Disagree0

Cash in = sell players. Loaning a player would do the opposite if the sale of the club was even going to happen lol

Agree0 Disagree0

FSG conspiracists are still in good force I see. Some fans haven't got a clue. Far too much Football Manager and yes, you're right /// far to many fans allowing forums and persons do their thinking for them.

Happy KK blowing money & finishing on 52 points
Unhappy BR working with pitens to fix KK's mess, while getting 61 points and an attacking style we've been crying out for, for years

Hi eds how do you see the Papadopoulos situation? Are Liverpool looking to sign him? {Ed002's Note - There is interest from Liverpol but I suspect they are some way from offering an acceptable fee at this time. Other clubs (Manchester City, Dortmund and Chelsea)have walked away as they considered the asking price far to high - whilst concerns remained over his recent injury.}

Believable18 Unbelievable11

On a dutch football site (which is known for its reliability) I have read that Jackson Matinez and Napoli have reached an agreement about a possible move. There are talks about a salary of 2 million a year. Now it is up to the clubs to reach an agreement. Napoli have offered 32 million so far. Porto want around 40 million.

Well if Liverpool decide to sell Suarez and get a quality replacement they will have to act quickly. I realy don't know which quality player would be available to repacle Suarez. {Ed002's Note - I am not sure of the relevance of Napoli buying Martinez is here - he was never going to be moving to Liverpool.}

Believable2 Unbelievable24

30 Jul 2013 19:51:02
Fact that they can buy world class players, while Kenny wasted 100m on crap players. Rafa could have put that money to far better use. All we seem to do is pay stupid money for crap players. Then sell for half price or loan them out till end of contract.

Agree2 Disagree2

30 Jul 2013 19:57:11
You can't replace him because anyone near his class would not want to join us at the moment

Agree2 Disagree0

I fear we could become the next Sporting Lisbon developing great talent only for someone else to take them of our hands. We need to show statement of intent and act like the truly global club we are and not a second tier selling club. Hope we get atleast two 15m pound players maybe Papa, Eriksen ect. And Suarez has a change of heart which looks doubtfull.

Agree2 Disagree0

Hey eds. Sorry but do you think we will buy anyone? In an interview br said we have added depth now he wanted to add a couple of first teamers but it looks like we are running out of targets. Agree0 Disagree0

Absolute joke tbh, Rafa will have half our squad soon.

Sick of how Lpool are easily blagged, World class keeper on loan to them without a buy next year deal ffs, they have cash to burn and now maybe Skyrtel as well?

Madrid are offering 85m and may go further for Bale but with Lpool they will offer peanuts for Luis and we will cave in, If Bale is 100m then Suarez is the same all day long so 55-60m or keep him end off.

Club are a joke we pay over the odds for everyone apart from Coutinho and how we got him so cheap i'll never know.

Sad to see this giant of a club with fans all over the world having to put up with mediocrity on every level.

Inquiry made about availability of Alessandro Matri as potential Suarez replacement. Juventus are striker heavy and a loan or cheap transfer is thought possible.

Would be in addition to attacking midfielder.

Believable1 Unbelievable23

Yes I've just seen that tweeted by Kopsource. Apparently Borini will be offered to Juventus as part of the deal. Not sure how reliable Kopsource are though.

Recoill1975

Agree1 Disagree4

Borini swap is a nonsense. We wouldn't just give away a young striker and he'd have more competition for places at Juventus than Liverpool so can't see him being interested anyway.

With Soldado out of the picture Matri is just one option for a goal poacher similar to what Danny Graham was at Swansea.

Agree2 Disagree1

The whole idea of Juventus selling Matri is because they are top heavy with strikers, so why would they want another striker?

Agree1 Disagree2

Rubbish more like, Borini is very highly rated in Italy and will fetch £10M Matri is worth around £6M at best.

"Reports in Portugal are claiming that Benfica left-back Lorenzo Melgarejo will be in Liverpool tomorrow for a medical ahead of a loan move to the Reds with an option to sign a 9million deal"

Believable37 Unbelievable13

Is he a left back or a left winger?
Played as left winger for Independiente, played as left winger for Pacos (10 goals in 29 games), and then was stuck at left back for Benfica and was rubbish.

If he's a left back we are in trouble, left winger, makes a bit more sense, and if he's being played "out of position" at Benfica he may be glad to get out. Another who would fit into the "something to prove" category.

Agree2 Disagree0

Isn't he a winger?
i thought he was just shunted to left back to fill a spot?EDS?

Agree0 Disagree0

Melgarejo will NOT be a replacement for, or competition for, Jose Enrique.
He will be more of an Assaidi replacement.
Melgarejo isn't really a defender but, like Downing, can cover there if required. He's a left-winger.

Hi eds are we still interested in Tiago Illori in my opinion he is just as good as papa but is a lot cheaper also what's the situation with cristian atsu is he still one of our top targets. One quick question before I leave do we have any interest in Kurt Zouma from saint ettiene cracking young talent that I think we need in our squad. Love the site and keep up the good job {Ed002's Note - Ilori is a player Liverpool are not close to price wise and interest from PSV, Zenit and Spurs is stronger. A few weeks ago Liverpool were pressing ahead to seek a deal for Atsu with Porto. I explained the views of an ex-EPL player (Spanish and hip to what is happening in Iberia) at the time. Everton, Spurs and Toulouse had previously enquired as to his availability and Porto were wanting a new deal that they now know they are not going to get. Whether any of these clubs remain interested or not is yet to be seen. Arsenal looked at Zouma about a year or so ago and could look to him again. Manchester United looked in the summer and Manchester City recently. The Milan clubs and Juventus all see Zouma as a cheaper option to Benatia and both Manchester clubs remain very interested although Anzhi have put a very financially attractive offer to the club and player. Chelsea has an interest in Zouma but it is dependent on what becomes of other players. Wolfsburg dropped their interest. It is not clear if he will even leave St Et this summer as, like others, he will be concerned about either being shipped out on loan or sat on the bench.

Believable4 Unbelievable5

To be honest what I have seen of ilori, I am not that impressed. he looks too weak for the premier league and seems to get bullied by the centre forwards.

He also looks to ball watch a lot as witnessed by the number of times he is out of position when balls are crossed or played through. he is caught out a lot under the ball with his headers going up into the air rather than away from the danger zone.

To be honest, I think there are better young defenders out there.

I am not sure how correct this is, but I was told that Downing might be used in a deal with Newcastle to bring Ben Arfa to the club.Downing is up for it apparently, if Newcastle match his wage, which they prob will not.

Believable19 Unbelievable44

I would really be a great deal if it does happen.
There is still some time in the transfer window and if in that time we replace Downing with Ben Arfa, Skrtel with Papadopoulos and additionally add a LB and a top attacking mid. Also somehow keep Suarez for atleast 1 more season,
I seriously say we will 100% finish top 4.

Agree0 Disagree1

Not sure how I feel about that.
i feel that Downing is growing in the red shirt, and he puts in allott of un nitced work on the pitch. Downing is class, and I really do feel that he should get another season to show if he grows even more in the shirt.
Ben arfa has had a down period, not that keen on him, his good, but his not someone that I would jump in the air if we sign him.

Agree2 Disagree0

I hope not, Ben Arfa is too much of a risk due to be constantly being injured, I think if someone comes in for downing then we would offload him but think Rogers will keep until a suitable replacement is available next summer or 1 of the youngsters steps up.

Agree2 Disagree0

Would downing play for Newcastle having previously played for Middlesborough?

Eds, any truth in Melgarejo rumours? A lot of posters and tabloids are claiming it.

Cheers {Ed002's Note - According to his agent West Brom, Arsenal and most recently Liverpool have enquired about Lorenzo Melgarejo. The question would be, I would think, whether it makes any sense for a player to go on loan just to sit on the bench.}

Believable12 Unbelievable5

It's a question of strengthening the squad I think. I believe a loan to buy option has been mentioned, which makes sense. If he proves to be good enough, he can replace Enrique.

The real AG

Agree2 Disagree0

I work for a European bank in London with a satellite office in Lisbon. The guys there are mad Benfica fans and are suprised by our interest. This guy is a converted winger and his defending needs a lot of improving. Our back line cannot deal with crosses into the box as it is so adding a small young winger does not fill me with confidence. On the flip side, they said he was very good going forward but has only been exposed to defenders in the Portuguese and Europa league.
A loan to buy would at least see if he can cope with the physicality of the EPL but we must nail down an agreed price before he signs in case he is a success

Defensivley he's not even that good. he's a decent attacking option but I don't think he would be sound defensivley. don't see this transfer happening. Cissokho is an ok option as cover but I still don't see him being an improvement on Enrique.

WOW! So much for the statement about the rest of our signing are to improve the team and not the squad. now an overpriced greek is comming too. all we need is the suarez saga to continue til the last day and overpay on a panic buy forward and we can ask WOY to come back .

Ed02 if Chelsea miss out on Rooney could they bid for Suarez? I think we would rather sell to chelsea then Arsenal

Robbie {Ed002's Note - Chelsea are one of the clubs that has again (within the past week) been approached to see if they would be interested in Suarez. PSG has also been approached and I would think one or two others.}

Believable6 Unbelievable18

Whi approached these clubs? LFC or the agent? {Ed002's Note - The agent.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Does this perhaps mean that Arsenal's interest in Suarez has cooled now Eds? For the time being at least. {Ed002's Note - I have no idea how you have read that in to it.}

Surely he can't move to Chelsea Ed02 after everything that happened with Ivanovic but if he does ed you can get his name on the backmof your shirt!

Robbie {Ed002's Note - I don't see biting Ivanovic as being a reason to stop a transfer if Chelsea were interested. The rest of the world has moved on - it is only the Liverpool supporters who think that everything still revolves around Suarez. I have never owned a football shirt - and, at my age, never will.}

Rafa was going to sign lucas neil who broke carra's leg with a cowardly challenge which was way worse than what LS did to the chelsea defender so that sort of backs up the edds point, another point rather selling to chelsea than the gunners defeats the object to me, sell him abroad and take a lesser fee as it will not come back to bite us on the bum, gaining a extra 10 to 15 mill from a epl side is just going to widen the gap even more between us and the top four sides.
one last point I want LS to go have gave him the benefit of doubt to many times, a world class player but a low class attitude .

Sorry I thought you meant that his agent is going round to everyone again. {Ed002's Note - He has.}

Yes and they will use Ivanovic as bait ;)

Hi Eds,

4 questions:

1. Emilio Izaguirre, I remember this guy used to be in huge demand. What happened as nowadays I hardly hear anything about him? Would he be a good competition for Enrique?

2. With Illaramendi added to the squad, is Khedira for sale?

3. Same with Angel de Maria as Isco has come in?

4. Has Belhanda moved? If not, why isn't anyone taking a look at this guy? Attitude problems?

Thanks a lot for the answers!

SRK {Ed002's Note - (1) He is still at Celtic. Liverpool has shown no interest. (2) There is interest on Khedira from an EPL side and there has been discussion over his transfer with Madrid. Liverpool has shown no interest. (3) Di Maria is available and has been offered as part of part exchange options for a couple of players this summer. Liverpool has shown no interest. (4) He moved to Dynamo Kyiv.}

Hey ed's, just wondering in regard to the 3rd point, whether you possibly see Di Maria being used in a player/cash swap deal for Suarez as Real are reportedly not interested in paying the £50m we are after? His opportunities will be even more limited if Suarez or Bale was to arrive.

Cheers guys. {Ed002's Note - He has been offered to other clubs already but have yet to make an offer for Suarez. I guess it is not out of the question as the player they were to offer has left.}

Monaco are keeping tabs on Suarez situation but he doesn't seem to be interested in moving there but we all know how fast suarez changes his mind on things so keep an eye out for it!

I was hoping they would be interested. should be able to get the money from them and we can't give him to arsenal if he won't stay. I think he would be good with Falcao

I would love it if we flogged him to some mega rich Russian club for a load of cash. Obviously it is not going to happen but it'd be the ideal scenario of getting a big payday and not having to hear very much about him.

He'll go to whoever pays him the highest salary.

Agree3 Disagree0

Just don't want him to go to Arsenal or any other EPL club.

Agree3 Disagree0

If Bale goes for 100m then we want 65m atleast. Both Monaco and PSG can come in any moment and blow everyone outer the water.

Agree2 Disagree1

He'd happily go to Monaco when they show him potential wages ;)

Lorenzo Melgarejo is a done deal.

Hope not, terrible defensive fullback and we've got two of those already in Johnson and Enrique!

Aly Cissokho In £6.5m
Downing Out £6.5m
Been told these could both be happening in the next 10 days with Downing a target for Cardiff and West Ham?
Any chance of either of these Eds?

JD

Believable15 Unbelievable44

Cissokho if he arrives will be a loan to buy deal worth around £4M, and Downing will certainly not be sold for pittance he is a valuable squad player and if he is sold then i'd expect around £9M - £10M
