hey Eds, Is it true that Lucas has told Brendon that he wants us to sign De Jong? Also is it true that a fee has been agreed between both parties for Konoplyanka? Good luck tomorrow. thanks.

Believable19 Unbelievable7

{Ed001's Note - he was asked about the player and said he would welcome him. No idea on the current state of negotiations, but we were not too far away to begin with.}

Ed001, a personal opinion,

What are your thoughts on putting Agger at CDM, how do think he'd be compared to Lucas?

Cheers,

Agree8 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - I don't think it would be good for him. Not only is he lacking in mobility, but it would also put more pressure on his body, he would end up suffering more injury issues if he was there. I just don't think it would suit him. It is a totally different way of playing and requires much higher concentration levels, which is Agger's main weakness. He can fall asleep when marking at set pieces. If he let his concentration wander while playing in defensive midfield, it would leave the opposition acres of space.}

30 Jan 2014 23:27:41
Hi Eds,
Busy day tomorrow by the looks of things. I really believe from everything iv heard+ read+ been told that we will sign konoplyanka. no doubt with minutes left in the window though! I think he will be a great signing, adding much needed attacking options, seems a player who would thrive off creativity of suarez.
However, I think there will be a central midfield signing- I have been told (could well be totally inaccurate as the source is a friend who has grown up as a friend to the family of the player ) that we have been in serious negotiations with club and had talks with player: will hughes. I pray my friend is wrong as hughes would be the WORST possible signing. frequently dominated by poor championship midfields

Believable5 Unbelievable24

Hughes won't be arriving

He is slower than an obese benefits scrounger on a disability scooter. FACT

Agree1 Disagree6

I've seen Will Hughes play a few times and he's shone every time. He's young and there's a lot of experienced players in that league, quite a few have played against the best of the best. He's bound to have a few poor games.

Agree2 Disagree0

Ed001 has ozone changed his username?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he still posts as Ozone.}

MrSpiggot,

There are a couple of flaws I've noticed Your hypothesis on why Hughes will not join Liverpool.

A) You seem to assume that all that matters in a football player is his pace, I imagine you get a lot of your information from FIFA? Coutinho isn't particularly fast, quick change of pace yes, but not very fast and he is one of the best 10s in the league.

B) "slower than an obese benefits scrounger on a scooter" I don't really understand why you chose this analogy. I can only imagine that you've been annoyed by one recently, or are just as close minded as the previous point suggests.

C) "FACT" seeing as the average speed of a scooter is about 4mph, and that even I, a non-professional footballer with an allergy to running, can run faster than this speed I would suggest that the premise means that it does not fit the criteria for it being "fact".

Hughes remains in high demand, with good reason, as the facts are That he is only 18, yet has 3 goals & 5 assists already this season. Not bad for a CM. Furthermore the indicators of a good CM are even more encouraging with a passing accuracy of 87% & Tackle success rate of 82% (65/79) I would contradict your Implication of him Being an Inadequate player.

Eds do you think there is a chance that Dagger may be gone Tomorrow And used as a make way for another geezer?

Believable2 Unbelievable16

{Ed001's Note - no, I really don't think he will go because he really doesn't want to leave. The lad absolutely loves Liverpool. If he goes it will be because he is forced out and I don't think that will happen. Or maybe I hope it won't happen because I think he is still good enough for a few years yet. It has come close a few times to him going in the past, the club have had him up for sale due to his injuries, it has been him who rejected moves away. I don't see anything to suggest he would accept a move away now.}

Why would we let him go? Unless BR is truly clueless. Our defensive record and win ratio are both better with him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jimmy, because the past season and a half his form hasn't been anywhere near what he is capable of. He has a history of injuries. He would still fetch a decent fee and he would be a high earner, a high earner who is now mainly on the bench.

Financially speaking it makes sense to sell.

I know someone who is linked to the chartered accountants who look after the club funds. FSG authorised at the weekend availability of the sum of £40 million for this transfer window.

I can't say how or who it will be spent on but I am confident in my source and this money is available for transfer fee AND WAGES.

Believable9 Unbelievable66

So we pay their full contract wages as they sign is it? AND WAGES. sorry but you just made this up

Does anyone one have an update on the kono deal?

Believable4 Unbelievable4

Spurs have not put a bid I and a fee has been agreed between Liverpool and the opposing team and a medical is supposed to be done tomorrow.

Agree0 Disagree1

I put a post up regarding this and the eds were kind enough to post it. I stated the deal had been done. and once again I will state what I did 2 hours ago. both party's have agreed a price and a medical and contract signing will go ahead friday afternoon. I have a good source. that will give the same info as ssn but quite a few hours ahead.

Agree1 Disagree2

Yeah ian ayre has gone for the madmen approach to business and taken the dnipro directors out to a kiev strip club to get them drunk and more amenable to our bid, should b sorted by tomorrow

Eds, your doing a great job, going to be a busy one for you tomorrow, good luck! Anyway ssn are claiming we are ahead of spurs for konopylanko! What does this mean exactly? Have we offered more than spurs? Does he prefer a move to Liverpool? Please enlighten me! Thanks

Believable13 Unbelievable4

{Ed001's Note - as far as I can find out, though Ed002 would know better if he was around as he could check from the Dnipro end, but I am told Spurs are not intending to make a bid. They have players to offload and are looking for a left back and striker.}

30 Jan 2014 22:30:24
so going by eds reply spurs were never really in for him they maybe have interest but other positions r more important right now, prob just media hype from old rumours of there interest.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - that is what I am told, yes. Baldini likes him, but the purse strings are tightened for now. My personal belief is that Baldini is close to the chop, reading between the lines regarding some of the players he brought in, and some other bits of info I have been given. Sherwood is almost certainly a stop gap, so spending will be very limited in January.}

30 Jan 2014 21:00:19

Believable10 Unbelievable3

{Ed001's Note - he went back for 'treatment on a knock' but there has been some enquiries regarding his availibility, so it is very possible he has been recalled for a sale.}

30 Jan 2014 18:50:00
Eds, can you see us getting Ricardo Rodriguez before the deadline?

Believable2 Unbelievable10

{Ed001's Note - no, I can't see us paying the asking price for him.}

30 Jan 2014 20:45:09
Source said its de Jong on loan poss then we, l look at mvila again in summer

Believable5 Unbelievable33

It's just my opinion, but I reckon we will sign M'Villa at some point, it just makes sense to me, he's good friends with Sakho (who is here to stay), been to Anfield to watch us (which doesn't happen for no reason) & is just what we need in the middle of the park, I also think that wouldn't be worried about his "suspect temperament" as him being friends with Sakho (who is, as it seems a pretty grounded professional) would obv help & our manager is strong, as he proved with the summer Suarez saga.
Hope the Kono deal comes off, a little worried about cover at the back though! YNWA!

News starting to circlulate around Liverpool that building work will start on the stadium in April (after leaked documents confirmed demolition of surrounding houses starts in March). Major investment has been acquired and the stadium will be named 'Stadium '96'. Expect announcement very soon.

Believable13 Unbelievable69

I'm glad that FSG have made the right choice and stay at Anfield, it's mo being the right way, I'm disappointed that we haven't brought in CM do far, but the news so far today about the stadium just beats everything. JWH and Tom Werner, you are doing us proud.

Agree3 Disagree3

This seems too conveniant. i'm guessing we have missed out on the players we are looking at. they release this news the eve off the deadline day? I may be wrong but a very good way too soften the blow

Agree1 Disagree3

Great news! just read the articles on the stadium progression, a few players tomrrow! progress on the stadium! and top four place soon! I love Liverpool fc! I just hope the name stadium 96 is real. we will always remember! YNWA

Agree1 Disagree1

I've heard there could be meaningful progress on the plans this year too mate.
It would be a real step forward, and a coup for FSG if it were the case.

maybe i'm old and pessimistic but don't buy all this inside info, I think its all 3rd party/4th party stuff

A relative works for the press following LFC and Everton He has just advised that our bid for Konoplyanka has been accepted, personal terms still to be discussed.

Sounds positive, good player.

The same relative thinks that M'Villa is also likely but I am not so sure.

Believable28 Unbelievable37

Hope so, it obvious we are trying to get the players in, if not then we will get our injured players back for final push and let's see. Hopefully top 4 and anything else is a bonus. ynwa

Hi Eds and reds,

I've seen a report linking Tottenham with a move for Nani on loan, hopefully its true and it it essentially ends any interest in Kono, can you confirm any interest from Tottenham in Nani?

Cheers men, keep up the good work!

Believable8 Unbelievable15

{Ed001's Note - they had interest in him prior to Baldini's arrival. I am not sure of any since then, last I heard Nani was off to Italy to have a medical, apparently.}

30 Jan 2014 16:23:51
Hi Eds
Obviously we're looking at Konoplyanka for the wide attacking position & linked with M'Vila for DM, but do you know if we have any interest in Diame from West Ham?, I heard we looked at him a while back & he allegedly had a small release clause (£3million or so) if that's the case I'd love to see him here, I think he's a fighter in the middle of the park & chips in with the odd goal from a position that doesn't usually get many. I know he's had injury concerns but I'd imagine with M'Vila's price being higher & apparent "baggage" he brings then Diame would be less of a risk? Also do you think there could be another loan coming in, I head we may look at a full back or forward on loan if the right one becomes available. Thanks in advance Eds in what is surely a hectic time for you guys.

Believable5 Unbelievable10

{Ed001's Note - we have looked at him, he was under consideration before the window opened, but we have not moved for him as of yet. I would say that means we have decided against him as an option, for now anyway.}

Cheap he may be but there's no point in buying a player who is never going to be good enough for us. We have to aim for better than him. He's over-rated and I'd put him in the same category as the likes of Charlie Adam, in that Adam was never going to cut it for us and I don't think Diame would either. Also his goals were scored from playing CAM where we have Coutinho or Henderson who are both much better options.

Agree0 Disagree0

He would defo add that beast mode to the midfield which we lack. worth buying as a squad player. I also rate nzonzi at Stoke but he is always getting carded :-(

Agree0 Disagree0

Diamé is a quality player. He's in no way over-rated. I would love to see him at Liverpool. The only put off in buying him for me is that he's quite inconsistent, which is why he has the £3 million price tag. He's a player I think we should move for in the July window since at the moment what we really need is consistency in that position.

Agree0 Disagree1

30 Jan 2014 16:20:34
Spoke to me mate who works within LFC - Fernando deal doesn't look likely to happen, he reckons another team other than ourselves are in for him and can offer him a more financially rewarding deal. He didn't say what team but I suspect City or United.

As for information surrounding Konoplyanka - he said he has none (or he didn't want to tell me).

Believable6 Unbelievable42

City are in for him and the porto defender.

Agree1 Disagree0

What he said would make sense then.

30 Jan 2014 15:49:09

30 Jan 2014 14:35:36
Hey eds just wondering what's the latest on young keeper, trying to get Darlow or who? Now or summer?

Thanks a bunch!

Believable8 Unbelievable5

{Ed001's Note - I don't know what is happening, with regards Darlow. I would be very surprised if we would pay the money he would cost for a back up keeper to sit on the bench. I don't know of any interest in signing him. So putting those two together I doubt anything is happening.}

Nice one

Believable38 Unbelievable19

Maybe the result vs the blues and the two above us dropping points have the owners feeling more positive about strengthening.

Agree0 Disagree2

Deal is being worked on

Agree0 Disagree1

If a deal is being worked on they better get move on. We haven't got Kono sorted out yet and the window closes tomorrow. There's a lot of wishful thinking going on about new signings and I reckon 1 signing and just maybe 1 loan deal will be the best we can hope for. 2 big signings are probably financially beyond us.

hi all

im hearing konoplyanka is going to wear the number 11 shirt and wages 60k week also mvila will be done soon 2 players coming in
good buys what do you think?
ynwa

Believable61 Unbelievable52

Hi all
I can't afford to print Konyoplanka on my shirt -- I don't think it will go down too well just to get Plank.

Agree0 Disagree0

Would be surprised as that's assadis number, know he is on lone but assumed that was the reason sturridge was given the number 9 (carolls number who was on loan when he signed). Be surprised if spurs were serious about kono, well least before they got a striker in. Plus they have plenty if wingers, so many they have a £25m one on the bench for back up

Agree0 Disagree2

Bye bye Assaidi?

Agree0 Disagree0

Strurridge choose 15.

Agree0 Disagree1

Sturridge was 15 at Bolton his best career in terms of games and goals before us I think he went back to it on purpose

Agree1 Disagree0

Let's get Kono signed before we talk about his number. There's plenty of time for things to go pear shaped and it to turn into another Mo Salah situation. I'll worry about his number once he's put pen to paper. Oh and Philistine my user name is "The Plank and there's nothing wrong with having that on a shirt.

have it from a good source that Liverpool are not chucking all there eggs in one basket .
they are pushing hard to bring in the Russian winger and a fee is all but agreed, the sticking point might come with personnel terms as he will not come cheaply.
but I have been told that at least 3 other players will be arriving tomorrow and deals have already been done behind the scenes.
im really looking forward to tomorrow as normally sit in front of tv only to get to 11 and find we got nobody.
something tells me this one is going to be very different.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jan 2014 16:13:35
Unless it's long term prospects valued at a million apiece bringing in 3-5 players would
- be the biggest transfer surprise for ages.
- all but guarantee that we won't be able to comply with FFP regulations.
- disrupt team chemistry
- make it almost impossible for them to gel with teammates and tactics in time to be useful additions for this season.
- be utter foolish.

I have my hopes on Konoplyanka, if it's financially sound, otherwise let's just be happy that noone (as of now) has lured any of our key players away.

Again, another hotbed of truth and fact if ever there was one!

Agree1 Disagree0

Hmmm disheartening then with regards to source, however our very own John Bradley, who is apparently up to speed on Ukrainian football has suggested he is the best player for that country since Shevchenko.

Reports coming out of Portugal claim Manchester City are set to win the race for Porto midfielder Fernando. Manchester United and Liverpool have both been strongly linked with a move for the 26-year-old, but now it has emerged that City are favourites to capture the Brazilian. Portuguese daily Record claims Porto chairman Pinto the Costa has decided to cash in on Fernando after he turned down a new deal with his current contract due to expire in the summer. Porto. Porto are thought to have asked for young City starlet Marcos Lopes on loan as part of the deal for Fernando. (Just passing what I saw on ssn)
