hey Eds, Is it true that Lucas has told Brendon that he wants us to sign De Jong? Also is it true that a fee has been agreed between both parties for Konoplyanka? Good luck tomorrow. thanks.

What are your thoughts on putting Agger at CDM, how do think he'd be compared to Lucas?

Not only is he lacking in mobility, but it would also put more pressure on his body, he would end up suffering more injury issues if he was there. I just don't think it would suit him. It is a totally different way of playing and requires much higher concentration levels, which is Agger's main weakness. He can fall asleep when marking at set pieces. If he let his concentration wander while playing in defensive midfield, it would leave the opposition acres of space.}

{Ed001's Note - no, I really don't think he will go because he really doesn't want to leave. The lad absolutely loves Liverpool. If he goes it will be because he is forced out and I don't think that will happen. Or maybe I hope it won't happen because I think he is still good enough for a few years yet. It has come close a few times to him going in the past, the club have had him up for sale due to his injuries, it has been him who rejected moves away. I don't see anything to suggest he would accept a move away now.}

Why would we let him go? Unless BR is truly clueless. Our defensive record and win ratio are both better with him.

Jimmy, because the past season and a half his form hasn't been anywhere near what he is capable of. He has a history of injuries. He would still fetch a decent fee and he would be a high earner, a high earner who is now mainly on the bench.

Financially speaking it makes sense to sell.

Does anyone one have an update on the kono deal?

Spurs have not put a bid I and a fee has been agreed between Liverpool and the opposing team and a medical is supposed to be done tomorrow.

I put a post up regarding this and the eds were kind enough to post it. I stated the deal had been done. and once again I will state what I did 2 hours ago. both party's have agreed a price and a medical and contract signing will go ahead friday afternoon. I have a good source. that will give the same info as ssn but quite a few hours ahead.

Yeah ian ayre has gone for the madmen approach to business and taken the dnipro directors out to a kiev strip club to get them drunk and more amenable to our bid, should b sorted by tomorrow

konoplyanka deal has been agreed from both partys. personal terms and medical to be completed friday afternoon. I can confirm the bid has been accepted.

so going by eds reply spurs were never really in for him they maybe have interest but other positions r more important right now, prob just media hype from old rumours of there interest.

My personal belief is that Baldini is close to the chop, reading between the lines regarding some of the players he brought in, and some other bits of info I have been given. Sherwood is almost certainly a stop gap, so spending will be very limited in January.}

I'm with Gareth on this. Did your source tell you it was a defensive midfielder because the player just had that look about him, you know the defensive midfielder kind of look?

Obviously we're looking at Konoplyanka for the wide attacking position & linked with M'Vila for DM, but do you know if we have any interest in Diame from West Ham?, I heard we looked at him a while back & he allegedly had a small release clause (£3million or so) if that's the case I'd love to see him here, I think he's a fighter in the middle of the park & chips in with the odd goal from a position that doesn't usually get many. I know he's had injury concerns but I'd imagine with M'Vila's price being higher & apparent "baggage" he brings then Diame would be less of a risk? Also do you think there could be another loan coming in, I head we may look at a full back or forward on loan if the right one becomes available. Thanks in advance Eds in what is surely a hectic time for you guys.

{Ed001's Note - we have looked at him, he was under consideration before the window opened, but we have not moved for him as of yet. I would say that means we have decided against him as an option, for now anyway.}

Cheap he may be but there's no point in buying a player who is never going to be good enough for us. We have to aim for better than him. He's over-rated and I'd put him in the same category as the likes of Charlie Adam, in that Adam was never going to cut it for us and I don't think Diame would either. Also his goals were scored from playing CAM where we have Coutinho or Henderson who are both much better options.

He would defo add that beast mode to the midfield which we lack. worth buying as a squad player. I also rate nzonzi at Stoke but he is always getting carded :-(

Diamé is a quality player. He's in no way over-rated. I would love to see him at Liverpool. The only put off in buying him for me is that he's quite inconsistent, which is why he has the £3 million price tag. He's a player I think we should move for in the July window since at the moment what we really need is consistency in that position.

I can't afford to print Konyoplanka on my shirt -- I don't think it will go down too well just to get Plank.

Would be surprised as that's assadis number, know he is on lone but assumed that was the reason sturridge was given the number 9 (carolls number who was on loan when he signed). Be surprised if spurs were serious about kono, well least before they got a striker in. Plus they have plenty if wingers, so many they have a £25m one on the bench for back up

Hearing that Spurs have pulled out of the running for Konoplyanka but a German side are now in the race. i'm not in the know or anything I just remember reading it earlier but can't for the life of me remember where.
Hopefully, as some people have suggested, we are too far advanced in negotiations and we tie this one up, this guy looks an improvement on Salah.

Hmmm disheartening then with regards to source, however our very own John Bradley, who is apparently up to speed on Ukrainian football has suggested he is the best player for that country since Shevchenko.
Only (playing) time will tell I guess! Still would like us to capture this guy as most seem to think he can fit the bill.

Do spurs have to sell first before they can buy? If so can't see them signing this one.

The only german team I can think of is Schalke if arsenal get Draxler.

I've seen Kono play exactly once for Ukraine against England and he gave Kyle Walker fits. He looked very fast and direct but it's hard to judge on the basis of 1 game.

Hi eds stories starting to surface of a bid from Spurs for Konoplyanka is there any truth to this or will this be another version of the Salah saga where Liverpool are believed to have intrest and no bid is forthcoming

We have made a bid this time at least, apparently 19.4 million, so not counting pennies perhaps (for those who think we do)

Why would another winger want to go to spuds and if they do its nothing to do with playing football.
