Just a bit of news on the left back situation, i was told today that kenny and comolli are focused on signing either jose enrique or leighton baines, and that there was no longer an interest in oscar wendt.

just wondering have you heard anything regarding left backs ed?

Hey Ed. What are the chances out of 10 of us signing the following:

Simon Kjaer
Sylvain Marveaux
Moussa Sissoko
Leighton Baines
Ashley Young
Gervinho
Matt Jarvis

I would love for the 7 above to come to Liverpool. I reckon we'd win the league if we got these 7 players! ! Please post with your chances out of 10 please Ed. {Ed002's Note - 4, 9, 5, 4, 6, 6, 4}

Ed . Any ed , which CM is most likely to join us :

Moussa Sissoko
Steven Defour
Charlie Adam
Javier Pastore
M'Villa

Which one is most likely ED? And the one you pick , Please can you say the chance out of 10? :-) {Ed007's Note - Charlie Adam 10/ 10 £17m from a reliable sorce}

Can you answer seriously please. {Ed002's Note - Sissoko is possible; Defour has signed a new contract; can't say about Adam; Pastore is way too expensive; M'Vila is a defensive midfielder.}

Last but not least lukaku will never move to Liverpool.

Why do you say this? Do you have some sort of inside track that you would care to share? Unless you personally know the player it would be impossible for you to guage his state of mind or his future intentions from afar.

If you could get a link up or paste the info that'd be great. I can't seem to find any info about such a chant other than one Utd fan pasting a somewhat dubious explanation word-for-word on just about every site on the net. I'm struggling to find any factual information to back up any of the claims and i must admit it's a new one on me. {Ed001's Note - to be honest the very fact that United fans believe that is what it refers to should be enough for you in my opinion, same as if something is believed to refer to Hillsborough I would expect other fans not to use it. But I will ask the United ed that explained it to me to post up some links when he gets a chance.}

Ed001's Note - can people please leave out the saying Manure in future, it stems from references to the dead at Munich and I am sure we would all be complaining if they were referring to us by names related to those that dies at Hillsborough.}
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Hello Ed

Just wondering how is it a reference to Munich. I have used it before but believed it was just as in "shiity man utd" - banter type thing and never honestly knew about any connection to munich. though it was just more a pun on their name. I really would appreicated being enlightened as I'm sure other fans would too.

Cheers

Just a bit of news on the prospect of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, my source has informed me that his likely destination is likely to be Manutd. Due to issues with the Walcott transfer they are unlikely to sell to arsenal! Just a heads up to those thinking he's coming to LFC. In my opinion it would be a huge risk to part with the money Southampton will demand! {Ed001's Note - can people please leave out the saying Manure in future, it stems from references to the dead at Munich and I am sure we would all be complaining if they were referring to us by names related to those that dies at Hillsborough.}

Kenny spotted at Ewood park again today, hopefully we're considering Jones over Cahill because I don't really see the hype around Cahill plus Jones is younger.

Care to divulge as to who that may be Ed? Dreading your answer being Barton. Cheers,
Isaac {Ed002's Note - Regardless of all of the speculation about other players from Toulouse, I stand by my original position that with the transfer window approaching and interest in Toulouse's Moussa Sissoko from both Juventus and Milan on the rise, Liverpool will be looking to tie up a deal for the player - whi I think would be a really great addition to the squad. Damien Comolli has already let Sissoko's agent know that Liverpool see his man as the ideal long-term replacement for Steven Gerrard. But what do I know?}

_ _ _ _ _

Is he the same agent who handles Ngog / hazard ? Gliche. . .
I seem to remember he made a statement in the italian press that Sissoko's preference was to play for a big club in the premiership instead of the Italian league. (hmmmmmmmmmmm)

So Ed002, if Sissoko's being looked at as Gerrard's long-term replacement, then that means he and M'Vila are two very different players. Thing is folks have often said "either Sissoko or M'Vila", like they're the same type of player.
Ed, could both Sissoko and M'Vila arrive this summer? How much would they cost combined?

{Ed002's Note - Yann M'Vila is very much a defensive midfield player and nothing like Sissoko. Both could arrive but I think it would be perhaps £25M for the two - although I wonder if N'Gog could be part of a deal for Sissoko as they share an agent and Toulouse may get more out of him than Liverpool have been able to do. Staying in France, perhaps growing interest in Sakho could cover for centre back and left back as well? Who knows. We will have to wait and see.}

Regarding Augusto, is our interest in him more apparent than real? How much would he cost?

Lastly, Marveaux is effectively a done deal; we know that we have a very real interest in Payet, M'Vila, Sakho and Sissoko.
So, ed, is it safe to say that all of these five Frenchmen could be Liverpool players come September 1st?
I think it could happen. What you think, ed?
Could Comolli pull it off?

. . . As for having Arda Turan to attract Sahin makes little sense to me. They will obviously know each other from their International games together but that will be pretty much it. Sahin was born and raised in Germany not Turkey. It would be like buying David Beckham to attract Owen Hargreaves. Nothing appears to be happening with Ninis at the moment.}
- - - - - - - - - -
If you were in a country with a different language and culture then buying Beckham to attract Hargreaves would seem to me to make perfect sense. I know Turan and Sahin grew up in different countries but Turan is a national icon and I'm sure Sahin respects him massively and in my opinion would assist in possibly persuading Sahin to join. Obviously I wouldn't buy Turan simply to facilitate signing someone else, I think that Turan should be signed anyway.
On Ninis would we be interested or would we be put off by
his desire to join united

Chris in Tamworth

{Ed002's Note - I am surprised that Liverpool have not followed up with Arda but that is where we are. As for Ninis, as I say it is quiet. There has been the occasional thought that a German side might be interested but I have no record of Liverpool being interested at all. I suspect that Liverpool have a very different player in mind for central midfield.}

I'm sure you are right Ed I just don't want it to be Adam or Barton! ! Can you say who you think it may be?
Maybe Defour or Gago or Pjanic or even Modric but please don't say Adam!

Ed What's the situation with pastore, what a real young talent have looked through the archives and can't find it

KopEndDannyLFC {Ed002's Note - Pastore may well be moving this summer - it seems to be on/off week-by-week. Palermo is a difficult club to deal with (to say the least) and money is not something they are short of. They crave success and I would not be surprised to see him stay another season. Juventus have been knocked back with their standard offer of €20m in cash plus Raffaelle Palladino, Amauri and Sebastian Giovinco in exchange, on loan or in part-ownership as part of the deal. Chelsea are looking for a long-term replacement for Lampard and Manchester United are looking for a long-term replacement for Scholes. He is certainly not top of Chelsea's transfer list but they will keep a watching brief. The rejected bid that was publicised was certainly from Manchester City. Liverpool had shown an interest before Christmas but will struggle with the price - which if he is sold is likely to be the highest of the summer. The fee will be in the region of £50M or a part ownership deal may well be negotiated.}

Ed002 you say we've had an "interest" in this Renato Augusto fell. Is he a winger? Would he be good enough?
Lastly, is watching a player and having an interest in him one and the same thing? I'm not so sure anymore.

JHBRed {Ed002's Note - Liverpool have been flirting with the player since the January 2009 window. He is certainly very good and can play as a winger or attacking midfield player.}

Even you have to agree, Gerrard is going to be very difficult to replace.
- - - - - - - - - -
Hopefully we have his replacement already coming through but maybe Defour would be a more immediate replacement (not that I think he needs replacing yet!). In an ideal world I would sign Turan on the opening day of the transfer window then go after Sahin. Having Turan at the club may give us an edge in negotiating for him. Your thoughts Ed?
Also Ed is Ninis still likely to join united this summer or has their interest cooled?

Chris in Tamworth {Ed002's Note - Arda Turan looks Atletico Madrid bound. Talks have been going on for a while and he will move this summer. Valencia, apparently, remain interested but Villarreal have dropped any interest that they had. I am surprised that Liverpool have not followed up the interest they previously had in the player. As for Sahin, Liverpool have shown general interest as have Chelsea, Barcelona and Real Madrid, who have made a formal approach. Interest from Inter Milan and AC Milan is waning. Surprisingly there is reported interest from Aston Villa as well. He will be moving on this summer and Ilkay Gundogan of Nuremberg has been lined up as his replacement. The price quoted for the player is 20M euro. So there is an outside chance if Liverpool wish to follow up their interest. As for having Arda Turan to attract Sahin makes little sense to me. They will obviously know each other from their International games together but that will be pretty much it. Sahin was born and raised in Germany not Turkey. Ed Do you know of any interest in Arturo Vidal?
Only seen him play a couple of times but looks like a decent holding midfielder, reckon he'd be expensive? {Ed002's Note - Vidal will probably take the well trodden path from Leverkusen to Munic for perhaps £12M-£15M. Real Madrid have been interested in the past as well.}

Yes you did have a bad start this season, and with all the changes you will make in the summer, you will have a difficult start to next season, it will take your new players a while to settle in, especialy the players new to the EPL.

We have the core of the team there already and with pre-season under our belts(hopefully most signings will have been made)we'll be fine and if new players are taking time to bed in we can rotate the team.We will never start a season as bad as we did under Roy Hodgson.The original poster is running scared and obviously know's who we are signing in the summer!Please tell us?Who are we getting that are new to the EPL?

Ezequiel Lavezzi to become liverpool's 3rd striker. Is this true ED?
Do you think he will be good for us? {Ed002's Note - I think there is a possibility, but keep in mind that Liverpool's interest in Lavezzi pre-dates the January window. He has an agent in Frederic Guerra who does a really good job of talking up his players without being pushy; and a fabulous technique where he denies interest in his players from major clubs thereby attracting attention to them. It is also possible that he will stay at Napoli who will almost certainly have Champions League football next season.}

LFC keeping a close watch on Bayer Leverkusen pair Renato Augusto and Stefan Kiesling. You hear anything similar ed? K3 {Ed002's Note - There has been Liverpool interest in Augusto for some months and the player is likely to be available in the summer - and I am sure a move to Liverpool would interest the player. As for Kiessling, I don't know of any interest and the player seems to be determined to stay and play Champions League football with Leverkusen. It seems less likely to me.}

Classic LFC keeping all stuff behind closed doors from the public, all as usual except for a slight something, it's spread like wild fire around germany (where I live) that Liverpool are in fact very close to agreeing terms for the young Gotze

I am praying that this is true. If it is indeed true can you give us any more info when it comes out please? A £25m bid for Gotze and Sahin would be the best money Liverpool would ever spend.

{Ed002's Note - Fon't hold your breath over Goetze. Manchester United and Barcelona have already been knocked back by his club and the player himself has made it abundantly clear that he wants to stay at Dortmund. He falls in to the same category as the Neymar to Liverpool rumour. As for Sahin, Liverpool have shown general interest as have Chelsea, Barcelona and Real Madrid, who have made a formal approach. Interest from Inter Milan and AC Milan is waning. Surprisingly there is reported interest from Aston Villa as well. He will be moving on this summer and Ilkay Gundogan of Nuremberg has been lined up as his replacement. The price quoted for the player is 20M euro. Ed, is there any interest in Dzsudzsak? Do you think he would be interested in a move to LFC? What are your views on him? Cheers {Ed002's Note - He is having a very good season, there is no doubt. My notes say that Liverpool have been looking at the player for a while and that CSKA Moscow, Juventus, Villareal, Newcastle, Everton, Lyon, Aston Villa and Schalke have also been looking at the player. In a recent interview he said he would like to play in Spain. So, there is interest and there is a chance of the player making the move if the club follow up their interest.}

Can anyone tell me where england currently are in the fair play rankings??? i know top 3 countries get a place in europa league of the back of it, i assume that means we could still get european football of been 6th???, (although still good chance we can get 5th)

{Ed002's Note - The place goes to the highest fair-play ranked teams in each of the countries, not the next placed team in the league. England are second right now and the place will almost certainly go to Fulham. It will certainly not go to Liverpool for being sixth in the league.}

LFC have inquired for the services of James Milner next season.

Milner will cover for Gerrard next season who has missed alot of this season and the previous season through injury.

With the pressence of Milner in midfield, Gerrard could be used in a more advanced roll to provide extra attacking threat.
*************************
We already have our own 'Milner' in Kuyt. Milner is tosh playing centrally. Can only play on the right as a fairly useful wide player. Hope we go all out for A. Johnson (up to 25m if we have to - he is a brilliant player). If City do get Sanchez or another top winger, surely we could have a chance with Johnson? Classic LFC keeping all stuff behind closed doors from the public, all as usual except for a slight something, it's spread like wild fire around germany (where I live) that Liverpool are in fact very close to agreeing terms for the young Gotze, youthful player. . bright future ahead of him - guaranteed, however Dortmund are apparently asking for something around £15 million similar money to Ashley young or M'vila. . What's the thought on that? Also heard a deal for kaka may not be too far off the mark, if LFC finish in 5th and fork out the right cash for madrids acceptance, he may well be on his way to merseyside. . kaka isn't like most modern footballers today, he gives half his weekly wages to the church for charity and you Liverpool supporters should not write Kaka off just yet, 5th spot and the right bid may just interest the brazillian magician for a go in the EPL.
