Hi Eds, DC planning for January window & following summer - Adam Johnson has fallen out with Mancini and if limited game time will be main option for Liverpool in Jan but Man City wont be keen. KK huge fan and liverpool will go for £16-17m bid. Depending on fitness of Gerrard a new CM will be bought in summer. NESV prepared to break the bank to bring in a superstar in summer if champs league is secured. Apparently only Snijeder,Schweinsteiger or Alonso will do. Stadium news will be coming shortly too.

Great news - thanks

Dont talk rubbish,we have enuf cm

ste liverpool

Too much moonshine sunshine! ... still i hope you are right.. :)

Apparently ? more like apparently you have no idea what you are talking about ! {Ed003's Note - Alex Baptiste,Ian Evatt and Matt Gilks have all agreed deals for Jan 1st}

The soap opera of Gerrard will run and Run until he is back in a Red Shirt, so sad but true!

The amigos for want of a better word here on this website can't fully understand that Gerrard will be back and a replacement is not necessary at least for another 4 years.

And if and that's a big "IF" a Gerrard replacement is required ASAP where are you going to get one?

B&Q
Tesco
No Football team in England has a like for like Gerrard Replacement
Come to think of it no Football team in the world can offer us a Gerrard replacement

Where do we get one?

SAF found out Legends can not be replaced, how much did SAF spend trying to find a Roy Keane replacement?

And did SAF succeed? NO

Snijeder, Schweinsteiger or Alonso
Are not Gerrard replacements

Not even close

Do you know Gerrards Attributes (I doubt it?)

The above don't have what he has?

You know its like trying to get a good looking blonde hooker to replace Marilyn Monroe, it just not the same, a pale fake is not a replacement?

Oh take a break folks, seriously

Chancer

This is bulls**t. like honest to god bull.

"NESV prepared to break the bank to bring in a superstar in summer if champs league is secured."

don't you mean FSG??

"Apparently only Snijeder,Schweinsteiger or Alonso will do."

Sneijder will be 28 next summer...Not sure he fits in with FSG plans...

Schweinsteiger, again, will be 28.

will be a few months short of 31....

FSG want youngster...

We want young players someone like Mario Gotze is more likely well if he hasn't just said he wants to sstay for 3 more years but i guess money talks.

Leave it man.....the transfer window has only just closed. Forget about the next one...get a life...just enjoy the game. We may not need any players. The truth about Stevie will be all to see in a few weeks, just be patient and stop making up stories

Speedy

Read his interview in The Echo. Should be back in full training this week. Stop spouting rubbish. AK47

Forget about them. Live in the states and I can tell you if they are gonna run Liverpool like they run their baseball operation, you will find things different. I would say the Barcelona model would be the closest. Most players will be homegrown, especially squad guys in the future, and they only buy to fill obvious needs, with red sox it's power bat or frontline starter, in football that would be a prolific striker or winger with speed as those can be hard to come from within. They have to buy now, but in the future I expect a lot of sebastian Coates purchases. Young, potential, needs 1-2-3 years of loan seasoning.

I doubt we will be "breaking the bank" for any players who will be in their late 20's and early 30's. If we get any of these three players it will be for free, like Bellamy.
Also, top German players generally don't leave Bayern - almost every other club is a step down.

Hi ed, just wondering if there is anything in the Adam Johnson Late Bid on Deadline day. ? thx :) {Ed002's Note - I am not sure that a bid was made, but my understanding is that there had been an enquiry that was rebuffed.}

City ruled out a loan bid but might have sold him. I think maxi will leave in jan/summer and johnson will be top of the list.

Hey Ed's what do use think was the reason behind meireles transfer request? i think he was forced to hand in the request , it just dont make sense seriously!
{Ed002's Note - He was not forced. The reasons are to do with money. Please refrain from putting lots of blank lines after your posts - I will simply not post them in future.}

Seriously get over it hes gone he plays for chelsea now.

Ed001 already explained about Raul transfer request, he was asked to submit one to waive his loyalty bonus, so the club does nt have to pay him anything.Its not uncommon and no secrets or anything sinister in it. we all knew he was leaving since June.
Roy

At he wantedI agree with the first reply forget him he's gone why do people persist with the post mortems, he wanted to go - he got what he wanted and as i've said before he'll be as effective for them as joe cole was for us, between him and torres we've taken £62 million off chelski good business as far as i can see

I know the Summer window has only just ended and January is 3 months away, but I just want to give my opinion on our January signings.

I suspect with Meireles gone and Stevie G not getting any younger, a CM will be bought. I think that because of DC's admiration and interest in the player, Moussa Sissoko is most likely there.

I also think a younger striker/winger than Bellamy, considering his age, will be bought. I suspect Affelay is most likely at the moment.

I know it's early and I have no source for this, but this is my opinion considering our current squad. I don't think a CB will be signed unless either Skrtel or Agger leaves which is unlikely.

Reid the Red

After getting rid of over 20 players from the first team and the reserve team i think 3 or 4 players will come in. i agree with the Moussa Sissoko point but although affelay is a great player he is injured far too much.

I would love to see an out and out right winger come in to as well as a striker and maybe another center back but i could be getting gready!

Henderson was brought in because he is seen as Stevie's successor. In addition, Shelvey and Spearing will be given a considerable amount of playing time this season.

No CB will be signed this season, Sebastian Coates, Skrtel, Carra, Agger and Wilson are more than capable of doing the job.

McAlien

Youv got to be joking, we have spearing, shelvey, gerrard, henderson, adam, lucas, and coady will play some games too. we don't need a cm. Our squad is pretty complete except i think your right about needing another winger.

In january id love if we'd invest in k.honda he would perform well and shirt sales would cover his transfer fee in the first year, now in july i would be worth putting a bid in for edison cavani. Respectively how much would they cost ed..? {Ed002's Note - Shirt sales do not help Liverpool financially.}

Shelvy will ultimately take stevies role!!
the guy oozes class but has ALOT to learn.... anyone see his goal in training for england ? effortless outside of the foot in the top bin!

love to see the youth getting a shout just like old times, if we constantly buy in where will we find the nxt carra or stevie g ect have faith in the WHOLE squad guys

kopitead

Not anwser the question doesn't help me either, how much would cavani and honda cost?
im asking for your opinion not a bang on sum {Ed002's Note - Circa 20M euro each. The point is that you do not understand about shirt sales at all.}

You guys are absolute peaches. The january transfer window is going to be Sissoko, Affelay, Cahill and Hazard. All the Aguero, Mata, Jovetic, Cavani rumors worked out......

Kuyt would make a perfect defensive midfielder if he improved his tackling.
rhi

Kuyt would also be a perfect striker if he improved his scoring. If he learnt to keep the ball out of his own goal using his hands he might be a great keeper, alternatively if he learnt how to re-slate a roof he might be an excellent roofer.

JimK

Its also possible that Carra will move on to the defensive midfield role allowing Coates to replace him at the back.
Roy

January is 4 months away.

this is for macca

Liverpool are looking to move to a new stadium and I hear that a naming rights deal could be announced at the end of this month with work on the ground to start march next year with the stadium opening for 2014-2015 season if everything goes to plan will cost Liverpool owners only 150 million

Twaddle !

What a Stupid Rumour?

Costings for a stadium rebuild would unlikely be available at thei time so how would anyone know it will only cost 150M after naming rights etc.

Henry is on record as saying an extrta 15,000 seats for a new stadium that costs 300 plus Million would be economic folly!

Although the re-development of Anfield is problematic, that is the road most likely to be taken

We have seen other leading clubs in the premier eg Man city and Arsenal sell the stadium naming rights for a hefty sum. A number of posts in the last year have expressed concern at the loss of the Anfield name. I believe there is an acceptable compromise which allows Liverpool to take much needed cash for rebuilding both the team and the ground as well as satisfying the need of a prospective sponsor. This would be to offer the renaming on the basis of "The (sponsor's name ) stadium at Anfield." This preserves the traditional name and supporters can still refer to it as Anfield. Sponsors would still have their name associated with a well known icon of sport, Liverpool/Anfield. GMcB

hi ed fantastic job on dead line day ......just heard a strong rumour from one or two of the official supporters club........apparently bellamy was not the only player that was reconsidered in the window...when poulsen and cole and ngog was shipped out they enquired about rierra ....apparently they was to late and but .....is there a loop hole where they can approach for a player and the sign him after the window closes ??? or its on for january {Ed001's Note - Riera? I think either you or them is on a wind up mate.}

Riera was bad anyway i wouldnt want him back

I hear the Turkish transfer window is open unttil Monday, any chance of any more outs to there? {Ed009's Note - I don't know who else you would want to get rid of, seeing as everybody complains our squad is direly thin anyway.}

Thin? the wings are the only place we are a little thin. were else are you thinking? {Ed009's Note - I don't think it is, I couldn't be happier with our squad right now, minus another winger, but I couldn't tell you the number of posts complaining we had a terrible squad after Meireles left, it was farcical.}

Liverpool to swoop for Cavani and Cahil in January.

Adam

Edison cavani would be the perfect stirker, he would make carrol look like a schoolboy

Carroll is still, in effect, a schoolboy... at 22 he has years to grow into a top striker, get off the guy's back.

Hope not Adam, Cavani is sh*ep.

Blair Mayne YNWA

Why will we go for cahill when we just signed coates

Just thought I would say that that is a different Adam.

Personally, I can't see either joining.

Adam

Cavani has just signed for napoli this summer, very good player tho

Ibrahim Afellay is very much on DC's radar for January, with a 6m bid being touted as something to seriously consider. As Meireles dogged us on the final day, both DC and KD see this as an opportunity to be able to sign again in January, with width on the right a priority next summer.

Even with the signing of Afellay, more depth would be required if we finish in European players, and Eden Hazard and Jesus Navas top of the list.

GavinoRed

Not sure about navas he struggles with extreme anxiety problems linked to homesickness , so I doubt he would leave spain to come to england , as he suffers from panic attacks and seizures . You never know though. I doubt hazard would come either but I dont have sources or anything just the gut feeling

u said that anfield will be built up to 60,000 happy with that but any ideas of when an announcement will be made from LFC. When is the deadline for a decision. {Ed002's Note - I am sure you will hear news by the end of September.}

Anfield even though that is the preferred option will not be expanded jh has said recently to expand it will take up to 3-4 years to get the green light from the council and that the cost of 300 million for the extra 15k seats is a lot that they can get that back with the naming rights to it and that's what is looking like will happen even though in my opinion we should be looking at a 75 plus stadium as it be cheaper than expanding when the stadium is built but that is what is looking like a new stadium with the naming rights sold I for one am going to miss it as it felt like I was back in the 80s with the atmosphere and the pass and move against Bolton but we are nearly £2.5 mill every home game revenue down on the mancs! So expect the new stadium to be confirmed this month

Liverpool are going to build a new stadium the issue is how big the club can build the stadium the club want close to 80 thousand all seater stadium with 300 executive boxes at the club plus more lounges and that.

I'm not a person 'In The Know', but I have seen from a few sites/sources that Anfield will be re-developed. Even Macca has posted to this effect.
Personally, I would love to keep Anfield and re-develop it gradually over a period of 3-5 years.
Work could be done on one stand per season, so we could still play there without having to move.
Naming rights can help towards the cost.
Don't forget, there are a lot of houses that have already been purchased and are ready for demolition.

The club really need to build a new stadium to secure its future for the next 50-100 years. Doesn't it?

All this sentimental navel gazing about redeveloping Anfield is really short term thinking.

This is symptomatic of the strategic myopia and muddled thinking that has lead to the Mancs, overtaking us on and off the pitch...

The way forward is a new stadium, it's the crowd and the atmosphere they generate that is essential not some clapped out building which was fit for purpose in the 1960's.

Hope FSG do the right thing and look to develop Liverpool for the strategic long term..It's only common sense.

DT

Lets all wait and see. I've been on this site long enough to trust what Macca says and i believe redevoloping Anfield is the correct way to go about it. Yes John Henry recently said this might not happen but like the one who posted above me, we have already purchased houses around Anfield.

Naming rights would only be for a new build not a redevelopment of anfield
