Hi Eds,

Do you know what the current situation is with Marco Reus? I know that we have previously shown interest in him, but assume we would be priced out of a deal now, and also lack of champions league will likely put him off. Any other potential suitors?

Cheers,

Jake

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool has not shown any interest in Reus. However, to move on from the tedium of the Rodgers posts, the Reus situation is that Borussia Dortmund offered a significant cash sum to the player to sign a one year extension to remove the release clause that German clubs could use to force a deal for the summer. Manchester United's interest has moved on. Chelsea stepped back from any deal after discussions when an issue became clear - if that goes away then it is possible something could still be done, but I very much doubt it. Bayern is no longer pushing for him. Real Madrid would like a deal but need to move others on first - which it looks like they will try. Barcelona may look to striking a deal for January 2016 as a replacement for Pedro - but Reus has made it clear that he feels let down by them last summer. Arsenal will be interested if he is available.}

A question if I may ed?
To your knowledge has there been many serious offers /enquiries for sterling? I only ask this due to the timing of his & Mr Wards comments a few days before season finished.i get the impression they where expecting hundreds of clubs coming in for sterling & where trying to sort the transfer quickly so they can both jump in there piles of money like scrooge mcduck does in duck tales. I believe city will make an attempt (if they haven't already) to sign him, but by the looks of things a few teams seem to be distancing themselves frm any deal. I.e real m & bayern. I still believe he will move on but do you think sterling & Mr ward are regretting going so public with it all.
Many thanks

{Ed002's Note - There has been an enquiry from Manchester City.}

Are Real Madrid serious about Sterling ed2?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of current interest, but they were looking at him a while back.}

02 Jun 2015 22:25:43
Also a lot of rumours he's keen on London, do you think there's any truth to Arsenal being prepared to take a look at him and/or potential swap for Walcott? Thanks a lot for your efforts Ed.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - What he is keen n makes no difference. I have explained where I know of past and current interest.}

Hi Eds,

Would you mind giving me an update on Jackson Martinez? A few days ago he was reported as being made available by Porto to talk to both Arsenal and Liverpool. Most research I have done seems to imply that Arsenal was the more likely destination, but I would appreciate it if you could let me know is we are still in the running at all, or if we should forget this potential transfer?

Thanks

Z

{Ed002's Note - Porto are prepared to cash in on Jackson Martinez with varying degrees of recent interest from Spurs, Valencia, Inter, Arsenal, Roma, Napoli, Atletico Madrid and Juventus. However, whilst Porto will seek his full release clause of 40M euro but would likely need to settle for less (€36M for want of a number). Two bids from Juventus were turned down and Milan baulked at the asking price. This has left Valencia who are looking to make improvements again this summer, Napoli who have spoken with Porto and the player and have "broadly" struck a deal twice - but have struggled to get the detail finalised - and Arsenal who would need to match the Napoli deal. Spurs and Roma are still a possibility but the price will not be attractive. Atletico and Juventus have certainly moved on. His agent has sounded out Arsenal and Manchester United to see if they are interested - and as Arsenal are not able to get the striker they want he is one player they may look to.}

Thanks Ed002. A shame we don't appear to be in for him as, for the sorts of figures being quoted, he would be cheaper or on a par with Benteke and I believe he would fit better with our style of play than Benteke would.

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any interest right now.}

Borini off to Lazio in the next few weeks. Allegedly the fee is in the region of £9m to £11m.

Better for him and us I think. I hope the lad does well back in Serie A if this turns out true.

I doubt Lazio will play that kind of money for Borini.

You're probably right AG which is why I put 'allegedly' in there. Most independent sources seem to value him between £6m-£7m

Were Sunderland not guna pay 14m

02 Jun 2015 14:22:13
Yep, but he turned down the move. Allegedly he was going to get a pay rise too but wanted to try his chances at Liverpool instead.

02 Jun 2015 14:22:50
Sunderland agreed something like that but I think Reynards price of £6-7 million is about right

9-11m Euro's maybe?

Has to be up there as one of our worst ever strikers.

Huffed and puffed but never carried any sort of goal threat.

Unbelievable the money we paid for him

I'll never have a go at a player who wants to stay at Liverpool and gives 110% everytime he plays, I'm not going to say he's a world class striker but had he been given the time Balotelli and Sterling got up frontI'm sure he could have bagged a few goals

Thats not having a go at Sterling either, he's much better playing behind a striker or out wide

Hi eds I know you said that no bid as been made for Clyne yet but can you confirm Liverpool have interest in him?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - not at the price Southampton are asking.}

02 Jun 2015 07:56:05
Are they in a position to ask for that much with one tear left on his deal?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - they can ask what they want, they are hoping, or rather expecting, him to sign a new deal in the next few days. If they didn't think he was staying, I am sure they would ask less.}

02 Jun 2015 08:38:18
Too bad. Best RB in the prem this season. Best of luck to him.

01 Jun 2015 21:24:39
Is there anything new on the Milner situation? I'm hearing there has been a 'verbal agreement' not sure what to believe. Thanks eds!

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - he has been able to listen to offers from English clubs since yesterday, he just needs to make a decision now. Anyone saying there is an agreement as such is wrong. He just has the options to choose between now.}

The rodgers out brigade just cannot bring themselves to admit that Rodgers is about to pull out the transfer window of the summer.

apparently its Ings Milner and Clyne for a reported combied £20m and we haven't touched a midfielder, keeper or striker yet .

02 Jun 2015 17:20:00
Are you suggesting this makes Rodgers some kind of genius? Ings and Milner on free´s are obvious targets and Sóton say we have not made an offer for Clyne.
I think FSG will keep Rodgers but I hope they don´t.
