Any chance of Matri/Vucinic in the suarez deal?

Believable8 Unbelievable71

{Ed002's Note - Matri is one of the players that Juventus has available but he looks to be heading elsewhere.]

Agree0 Disagree0

Vucinic is a lazy player and doesn't work hard enough

Agree0 Disagree0

Suarez off to Real Madrid not Juventus

EDs001, if I may ask you a simple yet very important question?
Do you think luis Suarez will leave Liverpool this summer?
Many thanks fella keep up good wrk. {Ed001's Note - I have to say I no longer think there will be no teams meeting his asking price, so yes I think he will most likely go.}

Believable57 Unbelievable17

Eds, what is his asking price?

Cheers

knightza AU {Ed002's Note - I would suspect he is not considering a precise value but the concept of a club offering a figure that is acceptable to Liverpool.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi Eds,

He is worth more than 50mil pounds as he is fitter and in better form than Torres. Anything less than 50mil should be considered a loss. {Ed002's Note - What Torres was sold for is irrelevant to the sale of Suarez.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed002 it is clearly not though, as Liverpool have said they want 50m+ as they value suarez higher than torress? {Ed002's Note - You might not want to believe everything that is said. I am pretty sure the club said he was "not for sale".}

Agree0 Disagree0

Lets face it we all now know that he wants out, we will defiantly get bids for him and to me £40M is a good price considering his on filed antics, yes fair enough he is worth a lot more but i'd accept £40M so we can hurry up and get in our targets as early as possible.

Agree0 Disagree0

Comparing player for player values is just a casual way of estimating the worth of players. Of course the Torres deal is relevant, it gives and indication of what a player of similar quality will be worth in a similar market.

RedDen {Ed002's Note - So given that Liverpool paid £35M for Carroll how much more will they be willing to pay for Benteke? It is all nonsense.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree in part BigD, ideally I would like him to stay (with a committed attitude), however it would appear that he has his mind set on a move (the grass is always greener for some), and if this is definitely the case then I hope we don't end up being driven into a corner and leaving ourselves insufficient time to find a replacement or another player with which fills Rodgers' plans.

Agree0 Disagree0

Given that Carroll is worth 12 to 15 million, a more up to date figure to base an estimate on, I would suggest Benteke is worth around this too. I didn't say it was 100 percent accurate, but youve got to formulate and opinion somehow!

Personally I don't want to see him come in though.

Ed is completely correct comparing the prices players were sold for is ridiculous as no-one will ever take into account the willingness of the seller and the depth of the buyers pocket, when comparing players it should be done on accurate market value as that isn't affected by any other variables its just affected by the players skill, form and projected worth. And so it's right to compare the Torres sale to how much we should get for Suarez but only because when Torres was sold his market value was around 20mil (a figure that combined with Liverpool playing hard ball and abromvich being and person ended up in a 50 mil transfer. which as he has proved was not his market value, ) a figure that Suarez's sale should double. Right eds? SamRed

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi Ed001

Do you believe Real will meet his asking price? Or Atletico? Or another team?

And is it the £50m figure banded about?

Thanks

Mac {Ed001's Note - no idea about the cost, nor interest in discussing it, as it makes absolutely no difference to me how much a player is sold for. I expect Madrid to be amongst a couple of clubs willing to meet his asking price, no idea where he will choose to go though.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Do you think they would pay all cash though Ed? I wouldn't prefer the castoffs from those teams like Gomez, Callejon, Benzema, Giovinco, ect. The only players I would prefer would be would Di Maria and Higuain and I can't see either one coming here because of their wages and our lack of CL. {Ed001's Note - that depends on what the club decide, it is highly unlikely it will involve a swap deal, purely because we would then have to meet the incoming player's wage demands.}

Agree0 Disagree0

A players contract length and complexity will be another variable when negotiating a 'value' of a player. For me, £45m+ would be reasonable for Suarez. Then there's the agreement on how the payment is issued- Parachute payments? Cash up front? performance payments if the buying team win certain comps?
Drezperado

Agree0 Disagree0

The question you should really be asking is if any team is willing to pay 50m for Suarez. And I think there are many teams out there willing to pay that much. So you set the price at 50m and if they don't meet the price (just for playing hardball) it shows that they don't want him that bad and then you can make the player think twice about his future. Then you say again Suarez is going nowhere and the team that wants him bad comes back with the 50m.

Agree0 Disagree0

I can tell you that Madrid feel 44m euros is a fair price for Suarez and though I won't be privy to the transfer negotiations I know for definite his disciplinary record will be cited by Madrid to lower his value.

Nevada

Agree0 Disagree0

Madrid doesn't make the rules though. If Madrid feels 44m Euros is a fair price we feel 60m Euros is a fair price. If they want the player bad they cough the money. If they don't they can still be saying 44m Euros is fair forever. Suarez is bound by a contract and Liverpool is making the rules. The disciplinary record is no excuse for his worth. It is about time we start playing hardball and I think in this case the owners will not be satisfied with 40m pounds.

Any interest in Erik Lamela heard whispers about potential interest. Would be a quality addition for RW. {Ed002's Note - I would not hold your breath for Lamela moving to Anfield this summer.}

Believable18 Unbelievable40

I follow Mole too. Seems to think contact has been made with Roma.

Agree0 Disagree0

Contact has been via pigeon

Agree0 Disagree0

What clubs have interest in him Ed? I remember Ed001 saying Southampton have serious interest, but I would expect other top clubs to be in for him as well. That may be a tall order for Southampton. {Ed002's Note - Manchester United were interested before he left River Plate. Manchester City have been looking at him this season and are looking for talks after putting two offers on the table. Roma has no interest in talking to them at this time and are also resisting interest from PSG and Southampton. He also has horribly complex ownership issues and would need a work permit. One other English club were interested but stepped away because of these complexities.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Only contact with Roma is regarding Osvaldo - scored 17 in 29 last season and has fallen out of favour wants to move.

Agree0 Disagree0

I could've sworn Roma bought him outright a year ago Ed. He's still with the 3rd party ownership issues? {Ed002's Note - No, as I said - horribly complex.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Lamela doesn't look built for the Prem, and it would be strengthening in an area we are already strong. Coutinho, Sturridge, Suso, Sterling, Downing and even Henderson can all play out wide.

RedDen

Agree0 Disagree0

Lamela doesn't look built for the premiership!
Outrageous statement in that case we better get rid of couthino sterling and allen asap.

Agree0 Disagree0

I wouldn't hold your breath either. any deal is likely to take waaaay longer than the minute or so that you'll be able to hold your breath. Even if you were world record holder Tom Sietas (35), you'd only be able to hold it for 22mins and 22 secs.

If he does sign, it won't be until after July 1st, by which time, you will be dead.

Agree0 Disagree0

Too many of that type of player is not a good thing. And Coutinho and Allen are surprisingly strong, they can hold off players and put their foot in. I was referring to Lamela being lightweight, not small

Hi eds hope you are all well. Have Liverpool enquired about Micah Richards? I understand City want to tie him down on a new contract, but I heard a slight rumour that he will only sign if he is guaranteed first team football. YNWA {Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware.}

Believable7 Unbelievable39

He is average and overpriced they value him at 20 million headcases

Agree0 Disagree0

Slight rumour?!

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes contact has been made, he spoke to a Liverpool player in the tunnel at half time during the last Liverpool city game so I understand

Eds do we have any interest in diego capel? {Ed002's Note - Marseille, Swansea and Braga have shown an interest Diego Capel who will be available after what has been a pretty torid time this season. His agent has been instructed by Sporting to find him a new club with an asking price in the region of €6M. His agent has spoken with a number of clubs in England, including Spurs, Liverpool, West Ham and Sunderland but it is Swansea who I think will win out.}

Believable19 Unbelievable18

Atsu or Alberto preferred. Likely Alberto, who will join Coutinho, Sturridge, Aspas, Borini and Sterling as the 6 competing for the front 3 positions.

Is there any truth in the £40m + Alonso bid for Suarez? {Ed030's Note - No

Believable27 Unbelievable47

Anyone who thinks Alonso playing alongside Gerrard, (5 seasons after both their best years) is the way LFC should go, is bloody deluded and clueless. if it's true, Rodgers should be f**ked out! (It's not true) :-P

Eds can you please clarify the Aspas situation?
He looks good from the videos I've seen. Happy to welcome the lad etc.
But have we signed him. I understand the window is not open yet I see press quote him as a Liverpool signing etc. I'm not sure we even agreed a fee yet?
Is there still time for Spurs to join the race and sign him as they do with most LFC targets? Or is he a red 1st July {Ed030's Note - Liverpool have had a bid accepted that is all so far. }

Believable27 Unbelievable6

This guy is bog standard.

Agree0 Disagree0

What about the second wave of rumours suggesting that we had in fact agreed a deal with the players agent and not yet agreed a fee with Celta?

Agree0 Disagree0

I would presume that it will be done soon as the spanish season is now over.

Eds what's going on with diame january all teams where after him for 3 mill release clause tell me if i'm wrong that's what I though do we or any other team hold interest now {Ed002's Note - The only other interest in Diame I am aware of was from Newcastle, QPR and Espanyol when he decided to join West Ham. £3M release clauses, interest from Liverpool etc. all needs filing under Fiction.}

Big Andy has agreed a move to West Ham for 15m.
John in Adelaide

Believable63 Unbelievable17

Lets hope so.

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope so

Agree0 Disagree0

No, he hasn't. But he will.

Agree0 Disagree0

If this is true then this sale along with the transfers of Suarez and Downing should give us a decent kitty to bring in some real quality.

I would like to see Benteke, Ericksen, Begovic, Diame and Papadopoulos/Hummels brought in with the funds.

There may be better quality players available atm but three on that list have premiership experience and might gel a little quicker.

Agree0 Disagree0

Will be sorry to see the lad go, don't feel he was given a fair crack since KK left, Still think he is a much better option than Borini, too light weight for the premier. All the best.
Canadian Red.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not yet, but hopefully soon. Was never good enough for Liverpool and will never be worth 35mil. Borini isn't the greatest, but still a better option for the philosophy of play than Carroll ever was or will be. Just an unfortunate victim of circumstance. Wish him the best, and let's get the money in so we can spend it wisely now!

Agree0 Disagree0

Re: John in Adelaide.

I too am in Adelaide, please tell me who in the city has such knowledge of Andy since we're so far away from the UK.

Agree0 Disagree0

That guy above thinks we have a chance of getting Hummels, don't be silly.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think even if we were to sell AC, SD and LS generating an approx figure of say £65m between them as I do not think we will get £50m for Suarez (Spain are nearly bankrupt remember); I think that FSG will pinch a few penny's back to appease the investors after KD's trasfer diasaster when we spent was it in the region of £100mil but bought absolute s****!

Bar Hendo. Kid is going to be a headless kitchen chasing legend in the future!

Sinister red

Agree0 Disagree0

Not true, Carroll has bought a house in Liverpool as he wants to prove himself at the club

Agree0 Disagree0

To the guy who thinks that I said that we have a chance of Hummels. that's not what I posted if you could be bothered to actually read the comment. I merely stated that I would LIKE LFC to sign him. Have you tried Specsavers?

Hearing Rodgers wants Luke Shaw or Jetro Willems as our left back next season fee will be around 10 million Cheers PDLFC

Believable18 Unbelievable35

I'm from holland and jetro willems is the worst left back ever. even his manager dick advocaat said he didn't get any better then last season, maybe even worse. everybody in holland knows that but outside of holland he is still considerd as a real gem, wich he ISN'T

Agree0 Disagree0

You certainly are unaware of the situation re Luke Shaw so why post such a comment?
He is not for sale, if he was, you couldn't afford him and your team would be a long way down the "pecking order" in terms of the club he would be interested in.

Agree0 Disagree0

If we sign an LB it will be Christian Atsu

Agree0 Disagree0

You will not get Luke Shaw sorry to say this but he is bale mk2 when he goes it will be to a top team.

Hey ed002! Is it true that we're about to launch a bid for Simon Mignolet? I know you've said before that we're interested in him! Cheers, Scouserseb {Ed002's Note - I have explained that there is interest - and that might lead to a bid.}

Hi Ed's, so with Toure added to our defence and the possible signing of Ilori or another CB, does this spell the end for Skrtel?

Logan {Ed030's Note - I thinks so if we sign Kyriakos Papadopoulos.

Believable16 Unbelievable6

Papadopoulos has stated he wants to stay at schalke

Agree0 Disagree0

So did Coutinho a couple of weeks before we signed him mate! It doesn't have to mean anything! Scouserseb

Agree0 Disagree0

Do you then remember what coutinho stated 2nd poster?

Agree0 Disagree0

Thats just like suarez a couple weeks ago saying he won't leave but look how quickly that changed as the transfer window draws closer : (

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed30 is Papa still an option? He said he doesn't want to move and is a high fee compared to other links ie Pearce Ilori Alderwield De Vies (spelling). We could get two of those four for one Papa

Agree0 Disagree0

let skrtel go he ain't that good IMO. I love suarez as much as the rest but if he wants to go let him leave as he won't play how we need him too and it will potentially be time and wages spent which could go on someone who will want to try and not get suspended all the time

Hey eds! Soccernews.com is reporting that we have submitted an official bid for Tiago Ilori, any truth in it? Cheers, Scouserseb {Ed002's Note - It seems reasonable.}

Believable29 Unbelievable7

I posted this earlier although not put up on site? It's £4m bid plus £1m add on bonuses. Sporting holding on for £7m.
Hope we get him and promote Sama think CB would be covered for all 3 comps next season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Okey, cheers ed002! With Valencia missing out on the last Champions League spot do you reckon Soldado might be an option to replace Luis? Scouserseb {Ed002's Note - Liverpool did previously show some interest in Soldado as did Napoli, Milan and PSG. However, Valencia wanted him to stay and he signed a new deal in last summer. Spurs are interested now.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I wouldn't mind seeing alonso back and villa and tello and get Torres back or higian then suarez can go

Agree0 Disagree0

The last player I want back at our club is Torres.

Agree0 Disagree0

Rather Torres then Carroll

Agree0 Disagree0

Neither of them, better to move on and leave those two in the past.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ironic that the player we are trying to offload wants to stay and fight for his place while the one we are persuading to stay wants to leave. Why Carroll has never been given a fair crack at LF' of atleast 1 season is ludicrous! {Ed001's Note - he wants to stay near the Nolan family pub maybe.}

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jun 2013 13:39:44
Ed's, first thing I'd like to say is great work, keep it up. Now then, is it true LFC are holding off any deals with Suarez, unless RM offer Higuain + cash. ? {Ed002's Note - Of course not.}

Believable20 Unbelievable16

If not Higuain it better be Raphael Varane. Although I'd prefer both. Then it would be a fair deal.

Agree0 Disagree0

If real madrid want suarez they either pay more than 50mil or give us Higuain and cash

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jun 2013 16:26:35
Higuain would not join Liverpool. Anyway, he is almost certainly off to Juve.

Hi Ed002, regarding the Benteke enquiry. What does this actually mean. Will Lfc simply have requested a price and availability? In your experience how likely is a transfer after an enquiry? Sorry for the twenty questions - slightly excited to see Us sign a proven player in the premier league. {Ed002's Note - Clubs will typically informally ask an agent (a) if the player is going to be available, and (b) would the player consider a move to the club. There may be some broad discussion on the sort of deal that would be offered. If the answer is yes, it is then necessary for the club to approach the player's club to ask if they would be willing to sell and if they would grant permission to speak to a player's agent and possibly even the player about actually making a move. This will typically involve either broadly (through an offer) or actually agreeing a fee and responsibility for any significant costs (agents fees etc.). Once this has happened the club will be able to speak to the player's agent and perhaps the player himself to look at the package that will be involved. Many players are looked at and discussed at a high-level with agents and clubs; a subset of those have an offer placed; a subset of those involve discussions with the player's club; a subset of those involve discussions over terms, and; a subset of those go ahead.}

Believable17 Unbelievable1

Thanks Ed, so its early days then. I presume a few other clubs will have enquired about Benteke and we will be enquiring around several players. Let's see how this one developes. Be great if we got him early. Gives us more power in the Suarez tug of war.

Agree0 Disagree0

Doubt Benteke will leave Villa in all honesty, and if he does Villa will drive a hard bargain (sadly as usual) and he would probably cost £30-35m {Ed002's Note - He is not going to cost anything like that.}

Agree0 Disagree0

ED, Would that not be known as tapping up or is it common place nowadays and it is just normal practise to speak to the players reps before the club. Not doubting you and is a genuine question.

Cheers

Col {Ed002's Note - It is the correct way of doing business - not tapping up.}

With the inquiry for Benteke and possible interest in Muriel do you think it's one of them or do you think we could possibly get both of them? I would've to see them both come in if possible {Ed030's Note - Not both remember we are interested in Aspas and Alberto and we have already have Sturrige and Borini 6 first team strikers would be too many.

Believable1 Unbelievable16

Surely Aspas won't be coming for 7 million now? Luis Alberto will not be for the first team

Agree0 Disagree0

Completely agree with you Ed. It should be one from Muriel and Benteke and from the remaining 20 mil we should go for someone like Henrikh Mkhrtiyan who can play RW as well as CAM and would add guarenteed goals to the squad.

Agree0 Disagree0

Borini may be sold back to Italy.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well we can get rid of Borini for a start

Agree0 Disagree0

Borini is going nowhere. Brendan wouldn't pay that fee for him, and let him go when he's barely had a chance to prove himself.

Try to be a good supporter and keep faith in Fabio instead of slagging him off.

Agree0 Disagree0

That's what my impression was, wouldn't mind either really maybe Benteke because of his great season then get an out an out number 10 like Eriksen or Mkhitarayn, then maybe another winger if Downing is to leave

Believable2 Unbelievable21

He was superb last night! I think he could signal the end of Borini.

I just read Liverpool are planning on selling Suarez for £40m, Brendan Rodgers will use the funds to bring in Shakhtar Donetsk's Henrik Mkhitarian and Christian Benteke from Aston Villa, also Liverpool are after Sunderland keeper Mignolet, if unsuccessful BR will go for Diego Lopez of Real Madrid, with the so called special one gone Casillas will be Real Madrids Number 1 keeper again. Red Smoke.

Believable28 Unbelievable64

Sounds like a good window to me though i'd prefer ter stegen or eriksen not a major fan of mignolet. he's good but not on reinas level

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jun 2013 11:04:10
Benteke has already come out and said that if he stays in england and moves club, he will only move to london so that sort of rules Liverpool out

Agree0 Disagree0

Benteke off to Arsenal or Dortmund

Agree0 Disagree0

Mignolet is better than reinas mate and u will not get him for 6m more like 15m.

Why would he go for a 31 year old when there are plenty of young goalkeepers out there

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Jun 2013 19:55:08

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jun 2013 00:40:30
And Suarez roaming? Remember we are making deals with Suarez as a Liverpool Player. maybe Borini going? This would make sense with recent deal

Agree0 Disagree0

Benteke would be a awesome signing, young, hungry, powerful and knows where the net is. Bye Bye Suarez and let's get Benteke for 18million and have 34 million left over from Suarez and Carrol sales.

Barry

Agree0 Disagree0

Lets face it, Benteke is the best striker available at a 20 million asking price. We hold the key in any deal for Benteke as villa want the experienced downing, he would be the perfect villa captain having thorough knowledge of the club. Benteke wants to leave villa for a dream move to a top four premier league club, but will accept a deal at any club where he earns 100 000 pounds a week, an 80 000 pound increase when compered to his villa salary.

Agree0 Disagree0

Benteke is an absolute beast would love him tbh and would have money to buy a quality attacking midfielder aswell c'mon BR work your magic

Agree0 Disagree0

Clearly Luis is off then. Benteke a very good striker and proven in the PL, however cannot see him and Sturridge linking together. Good of LFC to put in an early offer and get him whilst the others procrastinate
G

Agree0 Disagree0

Had this enquiry been made with the mindset that Suarez will leave Ed002 or with him staying? {Ed002's Note - Or whilst standing on one leg?}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed002 are we interested in luis Muriel? better than benteke and cheaper. {Ed002's Note - Read the posts or use the search function.}

Agree0 Disagree0

We should be able to get Benteke for less than £20 million. Perfect replacement for Suarez, with a little bit of spare change left over. Enough for Begovic anyway

I for one would be very excited to see Benteke in a Liverpool shirt next season. He's got pretty much everything, pace, strength, excellent in the air and a good finisher.

Strange player to be looking at and, as he plays in the Premiership will be inevitably over priced. Think there is much better out there, personally think its a bad piece of business and unsure about how he would fit into our system given how direct he is.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Villa will hold out for as much as £25M but will realistically accept closer to £20M, but we could say £10M - £12M and Downing, with Shelvey going on a season long loan to sweeten the deal.

You just have to hope he's not the classic "one season wonder".

. look at the Newcastle duo Cisse and Ba.

If Suarez leaves then Henrik Mkhitarian has to be a top contender and has expressed interest to play for Liverpool. At 24 he is approaching his prime, proven goal scorer and would be a sound choice along with another quality striker. Anyone who thinks he is a flake needs to watch him play.

Heh. Begovic was licking Liverpools ass in the media a week or so ago! If Liverpool want him and pay stoke what they want he would come tomorrow! CL bs again! Get real, CL doesn't matter any more!

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't want Benteke. Prefer Benzema or Higuain

Agree0 Disagree0

Benzema and Higuain will not come to Liverpool. They want CL football

Agree0 Disagree0

Champions league don't matter anymore only a team that can't even qualify for the Europa cup would come out with such nonsense a team the size of Liverpool should be in Europe every year so don't give me it don't matter if your happy with 7th place then fair enough mate but me thinks u just a bit if sour grapes because u know yeese r years away from challenging for top 4 again plus yer now the 2nd best team in the city aswell

Eriksen? Higuain? Benzema? Dream on!
