Firstly, thank you to Ed002 for all the effort you've put into the sharkopods, it's greatly appreciated!

I don't know about everyone else but I am getting a little tired of Salah pining for a move to Real. I know he's still doing his thing on the pitch but after the whole Suarez and Coutinho sagas I can't help but be somewhat concerned.

I'd like us to go for Suso. I know we aren't interested but he's available, he can play the CAM role as well as right wing and he's already said he'd like to play for Liverpool again.

Suso is a completely different type of player. His lack of speed isn't a drawback in his current league. I reckon that ship has sailed.

It could be him, it could be his agent looking for a massive payday, or maybe he’s perfectly happy at Liverpool after all? . as long as he focusses 100% on Liverpool this season and is a positive influence in the dressing room and for the club (which he is) there is no point in worrying about anything else but the league.

Who cares honestly. let's enjoy the now. If he leaves, he leaves.

Exactly TjRed if he is banging in the goals the worst that can happen is that is price goes up - now if he suddenly gets a bad back I would be suspicious. I love Salah and hope he gives us everything and we can give him everything.

Do you really think that Salah wants to be Sergio Ramos's teammate?

Agree7 Disagree4

03 Jan 2019 12:39:46
According to Ed002, Ramos will be off in the summer so I doubt that will be an issue for Salah. The question is whether Real will want Salah. They seem fixated on one of Mbappe or Neymar, and with PSG's FFP issues, i think they will get one of the two. Salah will still be at LFC next season.

Madrid will always be in a beautiful warm weather location, competing for trophies, and paying lots of money. Almost every single player fancies a crack at real if they get the chance.

03 Jan 2019 14:19:08
I think Madrid will go for Mbappe and Hazard, Salah will still be here next year thankfully.

Madrid’s pretty chilly in the winter.

Fully agree cotsi sort a replacement out now though and let him go in the summer once new signing beds in.

I don’t think he is completely happy. I’m not sure he will leave this season, but he seems to have something on his mind!

04 Jan 2019 10:52:22
This will not be a popular opinion but it is mine. I love Salah and want him to stay at our club for the foreseeable. Real will be looking to replace Ronaldo who is a big game player like Messi. Cometh the hour cometh the man. For me Salah has yet to prove that he can turn up for all the big games and Win it when it counts. The same can be said about Hazard and Neymar. For me I can only see Real putting all their eggs in 1 basket and going for Mbappe who turned up for a World Cup final looking like it was any other game. Like I said I know it’s not going to be a popular opinion but the 4 players named would cost 150 mill plus each and for that money real would want a match winner for all occasions and Coutinho has proven you don’t always get what you pay for.

Reading that Newcastle are close to signing Diego Laxalt from Milan to raise funds. Not sure how true this is, but weren't we interested in him?

If this is true can any of the Ed's confirm if we have made any enquiries?

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - I have explained that Liverpool have kept looking at him - I would say that a move to Newcastle seems more than unlikely and perhaps searching or listening to the Sharkopod.}

02 Jan 2019 21:19:26
Do you expect they sell him this January Ed?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - I have explained all of this.}

03 Jan 2019 01:53:41
If Salah leaves we should get Mbappe if not don't let him leave.

Hi eds
Is Solankes move to CP not going ahead now?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - for now yes.}

02 Jan 2019 20:23:48
Apparently, there are concerns over his fitness.
My opinion is that it may be difficult for him to go on loan because teams would need him to start playing immediately.
A permanent deal however may be different, because he may be afforded more time.
But that's just my opinion.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - That is not the issue - someone making unreasonable demands is.}

02 Jan 2019 20:54:07
Player looking for Guarantees no doubt then.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - No, that is not the issue.}

02 Jan 2019 22:09:32
Probably us demanding an excessive loan fee or insisting Palace cover all his wages.

03 Jan 2019 05:55:10
Havent seen it asked yet, so here goes. ed2 who is making the unreasonable demands and what are they?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - It is unimportant. He will go elsewhere.}

03 Jan 2019 15:19:52
Doesn't Solanke have a very demanding father that was also part of the problem @ Chelsea?

04 Jan 2019 00:33:05

02 Jan 2019 15:52:16
I assume it is only a loan as a) I doubt sporting can afford £13-15m for a youth player and b) we wouldn’t let him leave.

He is the player who is pushing for a first team appearance the most.

Do you think he is good enough to play in their first team?

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Jan 2019 17:20:40
In their team? Definitely, I think he’s good enough to be on our bench, I’m not sure if it’s a loan until the end of the season, or with an option to buy, haven’t a clue sorry, hopefully it’s just a loan.

Eds- what's the latest re Sturbridge? He's been relatively sharp especially early in the season when he's played albeit not a lot of minutes of recent. I know he gets bashed up for being injured but has stayed fit this season. Appreciate money will be an issue but do you think LFC have genuine interest in keeping him?

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - no, not unless he is willing to take a pay cut for a new contract. At the moment the plan is to let him go in the summer.}

02 Jan 2019 06:37:55
Hey Ed, so if the plan is to move Sturridge on in the summer, does that mean we may potentially be in the market for a new striker? With Origi likely to leave, Solankes future up in the air and Brewster still recovering from his ACL, it would seem we would be a little short (especially if Firminos new long term future is in the attacking mids, or is it still too early to tell?

Agree3 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - only if more than one goes. We don't need to replace Solanke, for example, as Brewster on his return is his replacement.}

02 Jan 2019 06:51:39
Sturridge's on 110k a week or so. Too much money for an impact substitute. If he takes a big pay cut like Ed001 said, then keep him till Brewster is ready to challenge Firmino. Otherwise let go and sign a versatile forward that can cover for Mane and Salah as well.

02 Jan 2019 09:52:37
Luka Jovic of Benfica looks a good player, currently on loan at Frankfurt. 20 year old versataille frontman full of beans.

Would fit well into our system.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - Jovic will not be moving to Liverpool.}

02 Jan 2019 10:04:04
If we are to keep this run going we need to be aiming to bring in a top class forward. Look at what we are having to content with at City. There wealth of attacking talent is scary. We have been lucky so far not to have any of ours out for any length of time. Fingers crossed may it continue. But I just feel with another top draw attacker on the books would also push the fab 3 even further. I don't know who Klopp may look at but he needs to be a top draw player then allow Sturridge Origi to leave and then loan out Solanke (I fear he may not make it for us) . Wilson will offer cover out wide when he returns next season but its the man at the top. Timo Werner would be my shout but he won't come cheap. He's going to be about 60m I suspect but he offers top quality cover. Which also allows Klopp to rotate more so in turn keeping them fresher and hungrier to stay in the team.

Firmino - Aguero
Salah - Sterling
Mané - Sane
Wilson - Mahrez
Werner - Jesus

I'd be made up with that personally but it's a big ask of the club to go for such a coveted player. Also it's a big ask for him to play as a rotated player when so many other teams would offer him a started place.

I feel we are in a great place and it's only a matter of replacing the out goings next window. But it's replacing them with a better quality that's the difficult part. Our youth players should be expected to support the first team squad. But without first team football many may become disillusioned and want to seek pastures new. So although we are in a strong position. The summer window is going to be a tricky one for Klopp. Does he stick with the youth or twist and build an all star squad which could be potentially the downfall our the club.

Agree1 Disagree9

02 Jan 2019 10:33:54
I think its madness to let him go, Who could we possibly get of Dannys calibre who is reasonably happy to play back up. I don't understand why we would stick by him through all of the injuries to release him when he's playing his best footy in years. Besides, 110k isn't that much compared to what most top prem strikers earn, I bet Girouds on similar money and i know who id rather have on the bench.

Agree3 Disagree7

02 Jan 2019 12:57:36
Does Sturridge really have a "calibre" these days? Especially the way our team is set up? Clearly he was a very good player and he might well be, in the right team in the future but i don't think that's us anymore. If we are to sign someone then surely it has to be someone who can smoothly replace one of our front 3 without changing our style of play too much. My opinion only.

Agree3 Disagree0

02 Jan 2019 13:40:47
Okazaki from Leicester would be a good signing on a "free" he's perpetual motion and knows where the goal is, Leicester play better and win more matches with him in the side statistically. Definitely a good impact sub for us and a very good replacement for Bobby's workrate when he's rested.

Agree1 Disagree3

02 Jan 2019 13:51:23
Sturridge will be gone in the summer, sadly he doesn't fit in with what we are doing here and his wages would be better use elsewhere.

He is a good player but does not play enough through injury or being protected from injury etc, that just means he is not value for money.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2019 14:22:22
He would do well in Europe, where football isn't as frenetic as it is in England.

02 Jan 2019 17:55:48
It’s no coincidence that the games we’ve lost in the cups this season has been when he’s played.
His work rate has got better but he’s still making the wrong runs and not pressing with enough aggression.
Added to that he’s missing sitters and if he’s missing chances from 3 yards out there’s really no point him playing because he does very little else for the team.
At least Origi will put himself about and try to run in behind occasionally.

Sturridge got us 1 point vs Chelsea and Origi 3 points vs Everton. We have Origi as Sturridge replacement.
