Liverpool have confirmed Aspas will be the 2nd player to join following K. Toure. Papadopolous and Eriksen remain the top targets but Skrtel and Carroll may need to be offloaded 1st.

I have watched video footage of Iago aspas and I am not really impressed. He is similar to negredo, which means he is good, but he cannot take Liverpool to the next level. He would certainly add good striking depth to the sqaud as I don't see him in Liverpool's starting eleven next season.

Numerous posts on twitter from users and from several newspapers, albeit the unreliable tabloids like the mirror and even an editor from the telegraph (a person), claiming that LFC have signed Iago Aspas for somewhere within the region of 7 million euros.
Hopefully these reports a true, looks like a player likely to progress who will definitely be wanting a route out of relegation bound Celte de Vigo.

You do know by the start of next season he will be 26. Not much progress
Agree0

To the guy who said another average striker really he has not even signed and your writing him off I bet you said the same about sturridge and be fair to borrini the lad has never been fit for longer than 5 games he made the italian sdquad can't be that average I say to you your a average fan who writes off all signings that are not household names or don't cost 25 million
Agree0
Disagree0
Some lfc fans have no idea. the fact is some are saying this guy is a suarez replacement. do you think lfc will sell suarez and not replace with a top player. this guy we may have signed today is stuart downings replacement. he can play out wide and he likes to drift infield with a strikers instinct, the guy is very quick and he is very clever. spurs were also chasing him as well as chelsea so the guy has something to give. when suarez goes as I feel he has too. we will sign a marque player but as far as I am concerned kolo toure as well as this guy I think there two positive signings
Agree0
Disagree0
Hardly Suarez's replacement. They'd only replace if he goes, with the money gained from his sale you'd imagine.
Agree0
Disagree0
Also how can you judge borini? the guy has been injured. I rate him think he will come good
Agree0
Disagree0
Wo wo wo wo, hold your mouth just now when you look at BR has don with coutinho (legeng of future I think for lfc) plus sturrige plus aspas gives us more attacking options ie more goal show the intent of BR I for 1 am happy with how quick we are concluding business as a club. As a LFC fan i'm glad we are now run in an appropitae business manner. Money doesn't grow on trees unless you own oil
Agree0
Disagree0
I think Borini will become a cracking striker, he's still young and has time to develop. We may not sign a massive £25million "marquee" signing, but anyone BR brings in will fit how he wants to play, and hopefully improve the team.
Agree0
Disagree0
He is no differance to michu, michu's club was relegated before he joined season he was there stand out players left to go to swansea and look at him. I think aspas is going to be very similar to michu in a sense he will be a real good player but just at a club that makes him look average. this guy has contributed to 50% of celta vigos goals this season either scoring or setting them up.
Agree0
Disagree0
Fgs have to stress all the time on this site, never write a player of until he's got some games under his belt. do you think all the Swansea fans were parading around when they signed an unknown 2.7 mill striker from Spain.
Agree0

"thetacman" you've also posted something similar on the LFC forums. How do you know we the replacement?
It'd be bad if we lost Suarez, but I can't help but feel people said we'd be doomed without Torres and we managed to get a world class player in his place. My point is IF Suarez was to leave we'll find a replacement. Aspas is not a replacement.

I don't get the hype around Mccarthy, i'm Irish and have been paying close attention to him this season. Comfortable in possession and keeps the ball moving but doesn't seem like a match winner. If Liverpool do sell Suarez to real madrid is it a possibility of getting di Maria, benzema, alonso or higuain as part of trade {Ed002's Note - If RM wish to bid they either offer players in the deal or need to sell them first. Isuspect three of those players would wish to stay playing in the CL.}
Believable11
Unbelievable19
Ed2 why is that do Madrid have other priorities first before Suarez? Which they would need to raise money for. {Ed002's Note - Their primary cash assets are teh players - they wish to change them they need to sell or exchange. Maybe some sort of swap meet would work?}
Agree0
Disagree0
Under the ownership of John Henry, Liverpool have shown that they know how to get the most money for the sale of a valuable asset. Torres went for 50 million in 2011. Now
is 2013, and suarez is better than torres. The market value of suarez must be 70 million if you compare him with falcao's 52 million valuation and Cavani's 60 million valuation. If Suarez hands in a transfer request and Real madrid want to do a player plus cash deal, I would do the following deal. Contrao, Alonso, plus 40 million pounds for suarez.

I would take modric an benzema

In an interview last night, Eriksen admitted that he'd 'talked to Daniel' about moving to Liverpool, and made it clear that Dortmund is not the only club in with a chance of completing his signing. He told Sporten. dk:
"Dortmund is one of the options but it is not the only option. Liverpool is definitely an option. It is also one of the clubs that is a step-up from Ajax, and it's a different league and a different caliber.
"It sounds very exciting, but we'll have to see. I don't know if there is anything specific, and I've even talked to Daniel [Agger] about it".
That all sounds very promising, and if Eriksen has discussed a possible move with Agger, then that has to bode well for Liverpool's chances. Additionally, Ajax Sporting Director Marc Overmars confirmed earlier today that Dortmund 'have not made a formal offer for Eriksen'.
When will LFC move for this player? He fits all LFC/FSG/BR keep going on about. If Monaco and Barca are signing up players why aren't LFC moving in on Eriksen? {Ed002's Note - This is no difference to his previously talking up PSG and Manchester City, Manchester United and Spurs, Real Madrid and Barcelona. Don't read too much into it, but there has been interest shown by the club. Frankly it remains a transfer I doubt will happen.}

Agree0

I have noticed with a few transfer windows that Liverpool adopt a policy of chasing a particular player then in the background they are actually after another player entirely. Perhaps Eriksen is another example of this and I agree with the Eds. Usually when there is a lot of speculation like this and nothing has been done about the transfer then you doubt it the more it goes on. Either that or Rodgers is using his budget available on his priorities, i. e. defence before he even looks at the attacking options {Ed002's Note - Some sort of smokescreen?}

Eriksen wants to end up in Spain playing for Real or Barca. it's his dream and made it known. many clubs know this which is why there are no bids for him. it's no surprise that Monaco who have money to spend are not bidding for Eriksen even though he's available at a lower price than his valuation a year ago

Why does it look like suarez is on his way?
Agree0

Suarez will. Not go, br and the team and the fans have all ways stood by him and he enjoys it at Liverpool
Agree0
Disagree0
'Cause Suarez has a clause allowing him to talk to any team who formally offers £40M (might even be euros not sterling?) So many 'in the know' ex players, journo's and others suggest Luis wants out.
I have seen and read Luis state he is happy etc so do not believe it myself or rather do not want to.
But if his agent want £££s and teams like Monaco, Madrid, Bayern etc who all have cash to spend on a forward and with Falcao and Cavani possibly off the market who is left? Top class player 20+ goals a season 26yr old for as little as £40M? MMmmm
Agree0
Disagree0
You can't replace a player like suarez because there is no other player that creates and score as much as he does that we can afford what you can do is sign 3 players that collectively can replace the assists and goals for me we need 2 right and left winger/forwards and a quality striker
Agree0
Disagree0
Real Madrid won't pay the 70 million asking price for suarez. Suarez won't hand in a transfer request because of the support he has been given by the fans. He fears he would be branded a coward and a failure by the fans for running away from his problems, first at ajax, now Liverpool.

Hi Ed's and fellow Reds
Luis Suarez have now stated that he will find it difficult to turn down an offer from "a Club like Real Madrid". He (and his Family) loves the support from the city, the people, the supporters and the club. But he admit that the English press have made the situation very difficult for him and his family.

The moment Suarez leaves is the moment he proves what a coward he is. You don't face problems by running away for them (if indeed only the English press are his problem and he is happy with his wage packet at LFC). Unless Suarez openly admits that the reason he "wants" the move to RM is more money or chance to play in CL, he will be a coward in my eyes. It would make us look like persons for sticking g with him during testing times and for him not to return the favour. I'll be honest here, the only replacement for Suarez, we can't afford, he is AC Milan and goes by the name El Sharaawy.
Agree0
Disagree0
Real won't get him. They're after Bale and won't get both. Suarez just frustrated with the English media vilifying him and admitting what may be his ultimate footballing dream, playing for Real. Expect to see him in red come August but wouldn't be surprised to see him off to Real, Barca or Bayern next summer.

He was approx valued at around £16 million last season with City lurking about on the back of his best season for the club. Now he's valued £12 million by Arsenal after playing 4 Premier League matches this season.
If we aren't planning on playing him, then £12 million has got to be seen as the most viable option for the club moving forward. Rodgers doesn't seem to rate him, at all. So I think he's going to the highest bidder or only bidder, pending the events that unfold.
Agree0

Well we're all aware LFC are fairly rubbish at getting a decent price for their players. Torres aside, can anyone name a player sold by LFC which was a decent price?
If we take a different approach and hold out for £15mil I'd take that, use it to sign the Greek Papadopolus (spelling?) and Pearce on a free. Agger, Toure, Pearce and Papa with Kelly/Wisdom also able to play CB i'd say CB is fine. Move onto LB area to challenge Enrique

Agree0

Mascherano was awesome for us, worth more than £17mil. Also Alonso, £30m was a fair price but not great. he was prime age when he went and top of his game. has he ever been replaced?
Babel £10m again fair but not great same for Raul, at the time he again was prime age and scoring some important goals in big games.
Teams like Spurs, Manchester United and Arsenal get top money for their sales. Will Levy let Bale go for £40mil? Or Arsenal let v. Persie go for small change? Ronaldo for less than smashing world record? We'll let Suarez depart for £40m. Skrtel for less than £15m and Carroll for less than the agreed (loan deal agreement) less than £17mil. Yes I'm corrected you're right LFC great negotiators

How is skrtl up there with traore or a defensive disaster?
If he's out of rodgers plans, wants to play first team elsewhere and we get a good price for him then fine, but don't be disrespectful to a guy who had a fantastic season last season and had us all worried city were going to snatch him away from us until he committed his future to us with a new long term contract.

Hi Ed's,
any interest shown in Bas Dost?
still young and under the right manager could flourish.

cheers.

Ive learnt that we have made a bid of 15m for Clement Grenier of Lyon, very good AM can play all across the front line. {Ed002's Note - There has been no bid from Liverpool.}

Personally think it would be a stupid move by LFC as he is bound to chose AFC due to the French connection and CL footy. Also heard Chelsea are interested too.
And secondly if we can bid 15 million Euros for him why not add 5 million Euros more and bid for Mikhritiyan. More accomplished, more improved, more ready to play for LFC. (and just 2 years older than the OL lad)

Incredibly stupid question to ask probably, but is there any chance Liverpool could get tevez this summer with all the speculation around him. If not, please inform me why.
Cheers,
Anonymous woolback {Ed002's Note - Liverpool has not shown the slightest interest in Tevez.}

Tevez is a possibility but it would need to be a fast deal as he is apparently linked with everton

First of all I really done think that we can afford him but the prospect of Tevez-Sturridge-Suarez is really mouth-watering

Tevez will not be moving to Liverpool, certainly not Everton.
He is on an astronomical amount of wages which neither side coule even pay half of.

Would be top signing. We tried a swap deal for Tevez with Carroll

He ain't linked with Everton. You ain't even got a manager yet

I don't think wages should be any excuse, especially when we are ready to pay big wages to players like toure + signing on fees bonuses etc to help his bank get fatter then why not tevez who is 100 times better a player compare to toure who has past his best and couple of yards of pace!

Hey ed's hope you're doing well
This may not be directly in regards to Liverpool, but I was wondering if you know of any interest in Nene? I hear that he is available on a free this summer and I think could be a real bargain for any team looking for a short-term deal (at the age of 29).
Cheers guys {Ed002's Note - He is not available for free.}

is it right Liverpool have put in a formal offer for Zambrano from Frankfurt/Germany; have you Eds heared sth of that too? {Ed002's Note - Zambrano is a player who has been looked at by Liverpool but I am not aware at this time whether they have made any approach to Frankfurt. A move would certainly not be out of the question.}

Thanks in advance :) {Ed001's Note - little chance of him going.}
