west ham have rejected a 5m + lucas bid from liverpool! liverpool have ended there intrest in cole as a result of this.
m diara is on his way to liverpool having had his contract terminated by madrid this deal was paving the way for lucas to go as part of the c.cole deal.
liverpool have lodged a second bid for ola tiovonen – around 11.5m. madrid have also made a 10m bid for tiovonen.
if real beat liverpool to the tiovonen signing then liverpool will make a move for another striker but definatly not zamora.
could be llorente.
liverpool have also enquired about suarez – ajax would be willing to do buisness in a 13.5 + ryan babel deal.
lucas will be stuck on merseyside.

In my view Roy will have something up his sleeve for a big summer stricker signing this will be a big target man who will fit in with the way Torres plays and will be a prelific goal machine this player will cost 10-20 million pounds it depend on how much the americans will give Roy to spend from the Mashcherano money plus other sellings.
One of these players in my mind will be that man

3. Zamora (10million)
4. Heskey (3million if Roy doesn't get no money)

Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson has set his sights on snapping up out of favour Eidur Gudjohnsen.
A move for Gudjohnsen would cost around £4.5m and the Monaco man would surely jump at the chance of a return to the English top tier where he has netted 106 goals in 349 appearances and is of course a double Premier League winner during his time at Chelsea.
although it does say he's a midfielder, always thought he was a striker myself.

Ed, who are the strikers being targeted? We all know he is after one, but he seems to change his stance every minute, and no-one seems to be able to read his pokerface. He is very adept at saying one thing and meaning another, Cole as an example.

Roy said he was interested in Toivonen about 1/ 2 weeks ago, now he is not the style we are looking for. More in the Torres mould. Yet later on, Sky Sports sources say that we have made an enquiry over Carlton Cole - similar to Toivonen; target man, plays off the striker(well should do, but doesn't happen at West Ham). So everything is very confusing with Roy at the helm, no-one seems to know what is going on. No-one had a clue we were signing Meireles, and it was completed in like 2 days. But then, he seems to be very open about his transfer dealings, whereas Rafa kept everything really tight to the press. {editor's note - I really don't know which striker Roy will sign, he doesn't discuss signings, he makes his own decisions. Purslow has been making enquiries about prices, Cole is one of the ones enquired after, I don't know any more than that.}

Yes LFC have @ 'enquired' about Carlton Cole of West Ham United, but he is one of 7 strikers we have 'enquired' about, the others are as follows:
Hugo Rodallega (Wigan)
Karim Benzema (Real Madrid)
Bojan Krkic (Barcelona)
Andy Carroll (Newcastle)
Darren Bent (Sunderland)
Radamel Falcao (Porto)
They may even be more but Cole was the only one the media picked up. Benzema was straight away turned away but the rest are all being considered with a 10am tomorrow morning deadline to make their minds up - LFC will only proceed in negotiations with 2 and will only sign 1, the prefrence list is as follows:
1. Carroll (6m + el zhar and itandje)
2. Bojan (10m)
3. Falcao (10m)
4. Bent (14m)
5. C.Cole (8m)
6. Rodallega (7m)
They will have confirmed the Koncheskey signing by 10am tomorrow morning and will lastly target 1 winger/ creative midfielder like J.Cole - we did show intrest in eden hazard but have now had an offer accepted for Matias Fernandez of Sporting Lisbon who can play on either wing or as an attacking midfielder.
Lastly Juan Mata will come in on deadline day for 15m + Maxi, negotiations are ongoing.

You are on the right tracks. I expect Roy is forcing a few hands around Euro Zone. We have offers outstanding and we are waiting on PSV to make a decision on OT (this we know about) I have been told we have another 2 on the table. Everyone also knows CCole is a prospect and given the right service with a bit of fitness could do a job for most sides. I and a few others who predicted we would more than likely sign one marquee player and a few others, are now getting excited as one could say Meireles is quality and we have yet to firm up the services of a quality front man.
Roy is a clever well informed networker with numerous contacts acorss Europe and I am so glad we don't know the half of it. For a change we are making the right sort of footballing / commercial decisions.

Also, sky sports changed their wording about Carlton Cole. Liverpool have made anENQUIRY about him, they are not in talks with west ham-big difference.

Real Madrid could be set to beat Liverpool to PSV Eindhoven hot-shot Ola Toivonen
Toivonen is regarded as one of the best young prospects in Europe after impressing for club and country over the last year.
Liverpool have been tracking the Swedish international all summer and are believed to have had one bid rejected by PSV earlier this month.
Reds boss Roy Hodgson has confirmed his interest in Toivonen as he searches to bring in a new forward before the close of the transfer window.
However, Spanish giants Real are believed to have joined the chase for Toivonen with Jose Mourinho's side making an enquiry for the Swede.
Liverpool were tipped to make a new move for Toivonen before Tuesday's transfer deadline, but it appears Real may have stolen a march on the Merseysiders by declaring their interest in the player.
Toivonen missed Sunday's draw with ADO Den Haag to fuel rumours of a possible move away from PSV.

However, i do not believe it will happen - Hodgson believes Torres does not need a 'big' man along side him (and, lets be honest, with the exception of Johnson, we have no-one else who knocks crosses into the box for a big man to attack) - He is therefore looking for a more Tevez style expect Hulk!

As i said yesterday, Dalle Valle will join Fulham on a perminant move with a buy out clause of £8m of which Liverpool hav first refusal if activated. I got an astounding 54 unbelievables and only 7 believables for this factual infomation as you guys chose to believe the Ed who said it was a loan deal. Well im sorry to dissapoint you all. I watched the game online today, yet again very poor first half but a little better in the second half.
Raul Meireles was on the pitch hold a No 4 shirt which may mean the sale of Aqu after this loan deal.
What done u make of it ED is RM an Aqu replacement and one more CM in before Tues or is Woy just hoping Poulsen picks up the pace of the Prem.
Personally i think Masch was great for europe and the big games, UTD, Chelsea, Arsenal, Everton and so on, but at home to West Brom, Wolves, Blackpool and alike, Where they park the bus you need quick passing and Masch & Lucas can't do that.
Paul Konchesky was also in the crowd but unlike RM he wasn't wearing a LFC tie. So the deal is not been done yet.
Woy has now said that there still maybe a Striker bought before the dealine, but haven't really found there man YET!
When asked about Ola Tiovonen he's said "unlikely" so there's a chance that he costs to much and is now cup tied or he's not there man. i'd say it's there price issue so lets not start thinking "ken's coming".

After the west brom performace we definetly need a striker who can hold up the ball or flick it on so good aerialy as well so i think cole would be good don't know much of Toivien(spelling)but he can hold up the ball perfect and based on jovanic's performance i hope we don't play him again if this the team could like this:

Don't bother posting rumours on any more midfielders or wingers such as turan for this transfer window, it's not going to happen, we now have one of the best midfields in the world, we don't need to sign any more, maybe a winger but that won't happen til the winter transfer season. We have the likes of Gerrard, Cole, new signing Meireles and Poulsen etc for midfield, Roys main focus is a striker, Konchesky looks to becoming to Anfield within the next 48 hours and expect Roy to pull off another Meireles by signing a striker we haven't been linked with before, either that or Carlton Cole.

I am pleased to confirm the rumour that David Bentley is on his way to Anfield, for a fee of £8m - Bentley knows if Lennon is fit that he will be on the bench at Spurs and has been assured by Hodgson that, providing he performs, he will be a regular starter at Liverpool.

Ed, is it possible there will be a winger AND striker in before the deadline? Rumours are LFC are still talking to PSV about Toivonen, but RH has also publicly recognised the need for better play on the wings (but did he actually say 'a new winger?').
So what are LFC up to? Are we bidding for players in both positions, and just seeing which one gets filled first? It doesn't sound like the way a top club would do things, surely. .?
I also heard that he can spend all the Masch money on transfer fees (dont know about wages limits)- the basic sums seem to add up to RH having almost 30 million still to spend after RM. Maybe RH has just been extra conservative, but has deals lined up. And even if it were only 25m, it might still be just enough to get a top quality striker and a winger.
{Editor's Note: Nobody knows exactly how much there is to spend. The critical thing to do is identify players who would improve the side. Milan Jovanovic has already been bought in as a striker/winger. Wages are a factor - as is the balance of the squad for the new rules. Keep in mid that we also have some players who's agents have been told to find them other clubs - and we are getting very close to the deadline meaning that we could easily end up paying the wages of players who are not going to be eligible to play in league games and are effectively in o mans land.}

Guys, heard from a mate in Liverpool that Hodgson wants to play Lucas further forward in the future, so don't rule out Diarra signing (probably on loan initially) as he may be one for the future.
Reaction to the squad depth guy, no it is not good enough yet but you can't deny that Hodgson has improved it so far, and we are getting closer to two top players in every position next season:

Johnson - Kelly (future)
Carragher (not for long) - Skrtel

I wonder if liverpool did ever show interest in toivonen, wolfswinkle, ashley young, arda turan cos they are all cup tied now.
the only reason they would be cup tied is cos the respective clubs did not want to sell them, so why would they sell them now at a cut price?
Also, are there any quality strikers and wingers left who arent cup tied and available for transfer?
Sergio Aguero, Diego Forlan, Simao?
I can only think of the atletico clang, who had a buy into the group stages as champions.

I think this weekend's activity makes it clear that we're not going to get a striker this window. Roy, I think has decided to play Babel upfront as a backup striker to Torres & Ngog. Of course I'd love it if we could go and pick up another striker, but 14Mil is a big price forus to be paying for Meireles, soany striker hopes are gone.

Liverpool have confirmed the signing of Portuguese midfielder Raul Meireles - but how much do you know about our newest recruit?
Raul Jose Trindade Meireles was born in Porto on March 17, 1983. He shares his birthday with American actor Rob Lowe and women's football superstar Mia Hamm.
Meireles was one of Portugal's star performers in their four matches at the 2010 World Cup finals. He played 329 minutes in total out in South Africa and covered a distance of 41.49km, reaching a top speed of 25.99 km/ h.
As well as playing in all four matches at the tournament, he started each and every one of their 12 games in qualifying and scored a crucial goal in the play-off tie with Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Meireles won his first international cap in November 2006 against Kazakhstan, while his first goal for his nation came in a Euro 2008 clash with Turkey.
He's renowned for his love of tattoos. He had his first one done at the age of 19 and has since regularly added new ones all over his body.
Meireles already has experience of playing at Anfield - he was a 65th-minute substitute for Porto in an emphatic 4-1 win for Liverpool in a Champions League group stage clash in November 2007.
He's also competed against Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea in the tournament - scoring a volley against the latter in 2007.
He's no stranger to silverware having helped Porto to four consecutive league titles between 2005 and 2009, as well as three Portuguese Cups and three Super Cups.
Meireles also starred in Portugal's success in the European U16 Championships at the turn of the century.
After moving to Porto from Boavista in 2004, he was initially deployed at left-back before commanding a more familiar central midfield role.
