Just got back from hols, word around the pool is that Ryan Bertrand is an absolute certainty.

I would prefer Moreno from Sevilla myself but I am assured he is nailed on to sign shortly.

Some reports from Spain saying we have sealed €20 million deal for Alberto Moreno.

Hopefully true and we can move onto next target.

Believable81 Unbelievable15

Ed, any actual updates on that front? Or is it unreliable sources (spanish media being kind of a broad term)

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I can't help, sorry.}

If True what a quality signing that would be and it would solve our left back issue for years to come. Fingers Crossed its true!

Agree3 Disagree0

Our interest in left backs has been Rojo, Bertrand. Moreno was mentioned but was the Centre back from Valencia and not the left back Moreno.

How can we have all most signed a player who we have had no interest in, backed up by the Eds over and over again.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool perhaps know that Chelsea were not prepared to push through a deal and have made an offer.}

28 May 2014 21:51:04
Ed's 002 was this revelation concerning Moreno?

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - As I said, it is not for discussion.}

James Pearce of the Echo reported that Moreno was our number one choice LB a couple pf weeks ago - so the only surprise is that we may actually sign him.

Agree3 Disagree0

Do you know if that offer is likely to be accepted?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any offer.}

Or he knows that Liverpool are a better club than chelsea and would like to play for a proper club:)

Agree4 Disagree1

Hope this is true, Alberto Moreno looks like a star in the making.

Agree3 Disagree0

Guys it is not going to happen and not true and Ed does not no of any offer so that's good enough for me.

Lets move on.

Agree2 Disagree2

{Ed002's Note - It doesn't mean there isn't one, I explained that Chelsea have stepped back and perhaps Liverpool have dashed in.}

I read marca reported suso could be involved in the deal

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It is interesting that Sudo was apparently offered to Porto in a deal a few weeks ago - I put it down to a rogue "representative".}

News spreading fast, but so was news of us signing lallana.

Agree0 Disagree0

After reading all the replies
Chelsea stepped back from the Moreno deal due yo some unknown factor
ed does not know of any offer from us but there is a chance there might have been one after chelsea moved out
correct ed?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Yes.}

Ed, a rouge representative? Sorry how do you mean in this instance?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I have no intent on giving English language lessons, nor indeed French.}

Aha, nice 1 :) un représentant rouge, I imagine it's the Scarlet Pimpernel, he certainly was a lovable rogue. ;)

I have to laugh.

I respect all the Ed's on this site and from time to time have had my disagreements with them.

But some of the posters on here EXPECT you to know everything. LOLZ.

Just because Ed002 says he does not know of this MUST mean its not going to happen. JEEEEZ.

I bet some of the top brass at LFC doesn't know everything that is happening at the club.

While this site is THE MOST RELIABLE place to come to when you want to know anything about a rumour, The Ed's on here are not god's (well may Ed002 is) and they cannot be expected to know every infinite detail about every transfer that is happening.

FFS. READ the replies the Ed's give you and stop trying to read your own spin into things.

When an Ed says "He is not aware of an offer" it means just that. Not "There is no offer". If there was no offer the Ed's would have written "Liverpool have no interest in this player at this time"

Surely to goodness you know know what the Ed's mean when they write there responses?

Rant over.

Hi Ed002,
please tell me Rodgers isn`t interested in Balotelli. thanks.

Believable6 Unbelievable49

{Ed002's Note - It has been suggested that Balotelli might be a suitable replacement if Suarez were to leave. It makes no sense to me.}

Personally think its a loud of rubbish as his attitude at City was disgraceful and I don't see us buying someone that clearly has a bad boy image and he is not even that good of a player.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Barton? Suarez?}

28 May 2014 19:29:26
Spanish media are reporting that we are close to signing Alberto Moreno.

Believable50 Unbelievable14

Is there any truth eds

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea have dropped their interest, at least for now, after discussions and a revelation last week. I am not going to go into detail.}

29 May 2014 17:36:09
Without going into detail Ed002.

Would this "revelation" just put a stop to Chelsea's interest or would it be enough to put off other suitors chasing the player?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - In the words of Mother Teresa, "Maybe Chelsea are fussier than other clubs".

28 May 2014 18:46:52
Very good read ed!

Just wanted to ask, do you know why Hector Moreno no longer is a target?

Believable1 Unbelievable5

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool made an enquiry regarding the availability of Espanyol's Héctor Moreno who has also been of interest to to a number of Italian clubs, Everton and Southampton in recent months. It seems not to have been followed up. However, Lazio are pushing to try and reach an agreement before the world cup as they think his value might rise and they are aware Inter and Fiorentina, and perhaps Juve, are interested.}

28 May 2014 17:31:57
Brendan Rodgers in for a golden oldie?
Spanish newspaper Superdeporte is reporting that Liverpool are closing in on a deal for Valencia's 34-year-old midfielder Seydou Keita.

Good experienced player in champs league take the pressure off stevie

Believable3 Unbelievable61

{Ed002's Note - Steven Gerrard's replacement finally found then.}

Do we have £ 50 million to spend on 1 player as his replacement.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Keita won't cost anything like that amount.}

28 May 2014 18:32:34
He's on a free good option to give stevie a rest allow money on other areas

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - There are no "free" transfers at this level.}

What would the signing on fee at this or cole level 3/4 million I have no idea

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - Exactly, and that is why we don't discuss money.}

Keita would be a waste of wages.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 May 2014 17:01:33
Hear Arsenal lining up a 3 million bid for Ashley Williams from Swansea I know he's nearing 30 but must be worth a shot and give the younger defenders another season on loan.

Believable5 Unbelievable52

I would rather buy serena Williams, she is more mobile!

Agree3 Disagree1

28 May 2014 17:00:13
Eds can you see Tottenham financially realistically being able to buy Lallana? I've heard Pochettino won't spend more than £35m net. And if they were to have a bid accepted do you think he would want to hold out and give us time to match it?

Believable22 Unbelievable3

{Ed002's Note - Spurs are financially in very good shape and have players to sell and exchange. If Liverpool want Lallana they know what they have to do and, right now, they don't seems to be keen to do anything about the player. Waiting for another club to put in an acceptable bid and then hoping for the opportunity to match it seems a real dumb and high risk approach.}

Tbh Ed if we are looking at 25-30m for him then surely were best spending that on 2 players as it will be hslf of our transfer kitty.

Agree2 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - Or three or four even. Perhaps 30 £1M players would fit the bill. Try and get away from all of this nonsense about the money.}

Ok, will do. All though I'm not hung on money question like lots of other posters. Was just stating a fact that we could possibly look at options and not be held to ransom by clubs.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - Nobody is holding Liverpool to ransom.}

I'm not sure why Spurs would try to buy Lallana - it's not like they have a shortage of AM. Surely they have other positions (striker, CD) that are more urgent. However, perhaps Eds there might be a Spurs AM that could be of interest to LFC (Eriksen, Lamela)?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - You are clutching at straws.}

28 May 2014 14:45:00
Any interest in yannick bolasie from palace?

Believable1 Unbelievable25

{Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware.}

The agent of Arda Turan has claimed that his client has been the subject of an offer from an English club.

Any idea's which one Ed and are we interested?

Y.N.W.A.

Believable10 Unbelievable8

{Ed002's Note - I am aware of what he said yesterday but don't know any more.}

Probably ManUtd. Cheers.

Agree0 Disagree1

It's not Liverpool then.

If it was, his agent would not hint at such a thing considering Arda apparently is a Liverpool fan.

Agree2 Disagree0

28 May 2014 12:51:08
Ed couldn't find this one answered but have any other team actually bid for lallana and Lovren I know Liverpool made unacceptable offers for both the later being verbal but have any other club's actually gone in and done similar as of yet?

Believable7 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - Not at this time.}

28 May 2014 13:35:04
question for Ed002, I remember you said we made a formal bid for lallana, and a verbal bid for lovren, both far below southamptons valuation.

now if you have the time, can I know what's the difference between verbal and formal bid in this case? i'd assume a formal bid is considered a normal way, but i'm not too sure about verbal bid?

thanks ed.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Actually, the verbal bid for Lovren followed the bid for Lallana. A formal bid will be a written offer. a verbal bid would be part of a discussion and if dismissed easily would not be followed up without significantly increasing it.}

28 May 2014 11:36:44
I heard a rumour that we are interested in Alan Dzagoev, who can play in the center or on the right.
Have the Eds heard anything on this or is bull.

Believable4 Unbelievable15

{Ed002's Note - No.}

28 May 2014 09:35:06
Who all are interested in Xherdan Shaqiri apart from LFC?

Believable10 Unbelievable6

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool, Sevilla and Fiorentina have a declared interest with Napoli and Juventus having made tentative enquiries but any real interest from Juventus has gone.}

To me this and the can transfers seem the most likely mainly because there aren't any other club's that are financially very strong in for them and both club's seem to be open to moves. just my thoughts as always but I think we should get these deals done if we push for them.

Agree0 Disagree1

Would Juve be back in for him if they can't sort out Sanchez? Or are they unrelated.

Cheers all

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Actually, I am certain they won't be.}

Didn't Bayern come out and say he wasn't for sale nor will he be leaving on loan? Or is that just to get higher offers?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Bayern are still pissed at Shaqiri and want him out. Once the world cup is over they will assess suitable bids from interested sides and a decision will be taken.}

28 May 2014 08:05:12
HI EDs

How is situation about Assaidi? Do Stoke still want to buy him?
If yes, is it possible if we can agree with them at cash plus a player (like as J. Butland)?

Thank you.

Believable5 Unbelievable3

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool have set a price of €9M on Assaidi - I cannot see any Dutch side paying that which will see off interest from Twente. Genoa and Stoke are also interested but again, they would probably not be keen.}

28 May 2014 09:25:39
We seem to be working in the extremes.

Set a very high price for a player we own and we want to sell and offer a very low amount for a player we want.

Agree2 Disagree0

28 May 2014 09:41:39
7 million pounds? So double what we paid for him, makes sense his value has increased but that seems a bit steep. 6 million and you got a deal! :)

Agree3 Disagree0

We always let our players go for cheap. Maybe the club have realised this. I just hope we don't annoy everybody we are selling to in the same way we annoy everyone we are buying from.

Agree1 Disagree0

IMO its time we got tough in the transfer window's with our players.
If other teams are asking for over the odds for there guy's were after then we should do the same.
Assaidi has had a good season at Stoke and his value has increased. And while I don't think his value is €9 mill its great to see LFC not allowing him to go for a stupid fee like we have done in the past.
I can see us lowering that figure a little and think he will end up going to Stoke if they are prepared to pay around the €7.5 mill mark. A nice little profit on the player that will help towards buying the players needed in the summer.

This reminds me of a quote from a football history book I have, with managers discussing their respective chairmen.
'The problem I have' said the first manager, ' is you have a player you want to sell because he's not good enough, the chairman slaps a £25,000 price tag on his head'
'Aye', says the second manager, ' and if you find a player that'll improve your side, the chairman tells you you've only got £15,000 to get him'

Quote won't be word perfect but anyb

Agree1 Disagree0

I completely agree about us having let go of players for cheap in the past. Most of it was actually because the players were really not that good as we thought they were when we bought them, were given a huge wage by Rafa for a squad role or simply because we overpaid for them.

Agree1 Disagree0

Exactly boys sell high and buy low. No brainer when you run a football club like a business.

We finally toughen up

Agree1 Disagree0

28 May 2014 07:59:58
Ed002, I have a few questions. a) Have we bid yet for Emre Can, or is the situation still 'he is of interest'? b) Is he highly rated as a player? c) Do you still expect us to bid for Dani Parejo? d) Do you expect us to increase our bid for Lallana? Thanks in advance, your knowledge and insight never ceases to astonish me.

Believable8 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - (a) My understanding still is that no offer has been made by Liverpool for Emre Can just yet - the other matter needs to be addressed first. (b) Yes but Bayern Munich do not see him as ready just yet. (c) I understand Liverpool value him significantly less than Valencia, so it would be unlikely at this time. (d) I suspect the next "offer" will include a player in it.}

Thanks Ed. By the way, does 'the other matter needs to be addressed first' mean Leverkusen must negotiate with Bayern Munich to waive their clause?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Yes.}

28 May 2014 10:11:35
Is the player Enrique by any chance?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - We'll see if Liverpool return to the table.}

28 May 2014 10:33:09
Ed002, in response to
(a), what is the other matter that needs to be addressed and to
(d), which player do you think we will offer to Southampton. Jose Enrique? Oussama Assaidi? A younger player on loan?

Thanks in advance!

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - See previous answers.}

28 May 2014 11:59:00
Ed if LFC don't return for Lallana do you know who would be seen as the alternative option?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool has an interest in Shaqiri.}

28 May 2014 05:05:36
Eds are Soton interested in any of our players who we can use in the lallana deal?

Believable3 Unbelievable21

{Ed001's Note - yes, they have interest in Coutinho. Depends on who else they lose this summer as to whether they might show interest elsewhere too, such as Enrique.}

28 May 2014 08:15:06
Enrique as a replacement for Shaw in part-exchange for one of theirs would be fine. The only 'interest' they can have in Coutinho though, is in watching him play for Liverpool on Tuesday & Wednesday nights.

Agree3 Disagree0

Surely if we are to add depth we wouldn't part with coutinho? Eds?

Agree3 Disagree0

We wouldn't let them have Coutinho, would we Ed?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I don't expect it to happen, no. Nothing is ever 100% certain like, but I would rate that as extremely low in the possibility stakes right now.}

28 May 2014 03:52:59
I have heard previous interest from Liverpool in Viktor Fischer. Is there any truth behind this and if so, any chance we sign him?

Believable4 Unbelievable8

28 May 2014 07:46:56
LFC have an interest in Viktor Fischer. But he has had a very bad season, injuries and from wise and Ajax will sell him for a good fee.

28 May 2014 01:27:30
hi eds and reds

about lallana I read that he did want to join us, its all down to the fee we want to pay and what southampton will accept, this was before MoPo left, so to answer a lot of questions about lallana yes he wants to come to us, its just down to the 2 clubs agreeing a price, maybe spuds will offer more now, I don't know but if we offer the same I think he will come to us, that's just my guess, i'm not in the know

Believable6 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I said earlier that Liverpool know what they have to do price wise and have yet to do it. I suspect if they do go back it will be with a player or a loan thrown in.}

Like who ed maybe suso

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Perhaps Enrique or Alberto.}

I'd say "£20m and either Suso on loan or you can have Alberto" and leave it up to them. Lallana's quality, but not £25m+ quality.
