Dempsy and Sinclair to be tied up ASAP but as we all know these things can drag on till deadline day. Spearing is all but gone and hopefully cole will go. Adam will stay now as cm cover with Lucas out. Last bit of business will be a LB but I have no idea who. If Sinclair goes to man city we will look to loan affaley!

Hey there, regarding a possibilty of new lb..i have just heard from an Irish source that BR rates Robinson but doesn't see him ready yet but he will be given chances to impress so i presume he means the other cup competitions and he doesn't see Enrique as his 1st team option..So word is BR has looked at LB from Ligue 1 and wants this lb as his 1st option...i see rumours about Taylor from swansea but i didn't hear anything so it will be interesting to see who comes and goes in the next couple of days..I was given no name but i am thinking is it Benoit Tremoulinas from toulouse?
Anyway whatever happens hope we sign a clinical goalscorer by friday night!

People moaning about Swansea players, let's just take stock, hasn't Joe Allen been good? Weren't Swansea great last season and look at them this season. When a team like Newcastle buy a player like Ba or Cisse for less than 10m everybody moans that we should be buying talent like that. When we pay �20 million for players like Downing, Henderson people moan because we get ripped off. Can't have it both ways, I'd rather see a 6m player become a 20m player when we sell him and a 15 million player become a 30 million player. Can't have it both ways!

I thought Brendan said he'd be a fool to loan Carroll to Newcastle, as they don't need time to give him a 'try out' as they know exactly what their getting!

I have it on good authority that klaas jan huntelaar WILL sign on Thursday if not on deadline day.
My source also tells me that we have discussed sturridge with Chelsea but we have been put off by the price as we are going for huntelaar.
Spearing and Adam Will definitely leave.

The club are determined to add a striker before the deadline and are negotiating with several targets. Walcott, Sturridge, Defoe and Huntelaar are all possible, even if Caroll stays. Fee likely to be £15-20m

My thoughts are purely from what I have picked up from various sources during the day. I dont know Gerrard's cousin, I dont go to the same gym as Pepe Reina's wife nor have I overheard Joe Cole's agent on the phone in Tesco..... etc etc you get the drift!
However, I will stand by the folowing predictions:

Carroll will PROBABLY go to Newcastle for an undisclosed fee (I think around £17m)
I am one of those who beleive this is a shame. Losing a 23year old with big potential, who will come good for one of our close rivals in the league. Bsed on what he has done up to now, I guess, he needs to make way and nobody can really predict the future.

Spearing to Bolton for £3m - 60% chance

Adam to ??? - VERY good chance he will go

Walcott in for £12m-£15m - 50/50 chance

Sturridge in for £8m-£12m - 80% chance

Huntelaar in - 10% chance (but I wouldnt say never)

Cole to Westham - 60% chance

Clint Dempsey to Sunderland - increasingly likely

The simple truth is we need to create some space in the midfield ranks, I dont agree that Downing will go, Rodgers rates him. However Shelvey may go along with Adam and Cole. Henderson should be given another season.
We need the firepower upfront Even if the goals aren't world class, we will take any kind of goal, classy or not! But it is goals we lacked last season.

If Dempsey, at 29, sees this as his last chance to move to a bigger club, then does a move from Fulham to Sunderland make sense? I'm not sure I'm buying that one.

I don't see the point of Dempsey going to Sunderland (if the rumours are true of course) because the only reason he'd be moving would to feature in a team who are currently, or have a decent chance, of getting CL.

Nobody on this site is qualified to make percentage guesses on anything, the inner circle when it comes to transfers is tighter than you can imagine. Everything else is pure speculation. But, I actually agree with most you have said.

I agree with almost everything you said, besides the Shelvey comment. If you watched him play against CITY on Sunday you'd know how potential this boy has.

Why get rid of Shelvey and keep Henderson. Shelvey is far better than Henderson. When the ball is passed to Henderson it goes right back, he never gets the ball and look to create space with a fake or dribble and get it forward, it always goes back. Shelvey has better positional play and vision than Henderson, 2 good feet, more creative than Henderson. Shelvey's only downside is his tacking but barring that he is a way better play than Henderson whose needs to be sold

Am still not sure on Shelvey .every time i watch him play he just gives the ball away and trys these world class balls ,they come come off tho,id rather he go than spearing

Shelvey just signed a new contract! Plus he getting the nod ahead of Henderson so far this season! Rodgers must rate him so I can't see him leaving especially if we want strength in depth...League cup, FA cup and Europa league...Alot of games so you need a strong squad...You never know who could get injured and for how long!

I can't see Jonjo Shelvey going anywhere, Brendan Rodgers seems to favour him over Jordan Henderson because he is very comfortable on the ball and has great vision, Henderson is on shaky ground not Jonjo.

Just my opinion though.

I don't think BR will let Shelvey go. He has great vision and can read games well. So, why is the poster thinks that Shelvey will be going?

In fact, I'm more worried about Gerrard's condition. I watched last two matches. Gerrard was the one that gave the ball away for WBA's 1st penalty; Again, he was the one giving the ball away for the first City equalizer. All this happened at ~60mins into the match. Is it safe to say that his concentration can only last 60 mins?

Also, I think Hendo should improve on his defence. So that when something happens to Lucas (I think it already is happening), he can step up and assume DMF role.

Huntelaar is most definitely no improvement on Andy Carroll, and Carroll is still only 23, with plenty of time to improve and be completely unplayable to most centre halves.

Huntelaar only at cut price. Him and suarez were strike partners at ajax and they will complement each other well. Next summer we'll decide whether carroll huntelaar gets sold.

Nooo! Theo a no no. I don't rate him at all, he's not prolific, he's got pace and uses it too fumbles chances, he did well with Van Persie but it took long enough. Liverpool should steer well wide of making that type of mistake, it's similar to the Sturridge situation, he's not good enough and doesn't score anywhere near enough goals. Look to the continent with some of the in-need-of-money clubs and there is plenty of players to be had.

He doesn't score many goals because of where he plays. He is a centre forward at heart, not a winger. Put him in the middle and he'd have to ability to blast past defenders. Though his finishing isn't quite up to scratch, that could change as he's still young and we've seen glimpses in the past of what he can do, eg. his hatrick for England...

He's 23 not even in his prime yet, how many players have peaked by 23?! 6 full years of PL experience and still has 8+ at the top level. He's got 1 year left on his contract so relatively cheap, and in a year or two's time, he will still be worth at least what we've paid for him realistically it will be more.

Personally I'd go for him in a heartbeat, with our interchanging play he will still start in a position hes familiar spent 6 years being trained on (wing) but will have chances to wander into the position he wants to play (centre) and he can find the net.

Clint Dempsey we all know will be most likely the next to sign, esp given now we've gotten 3mil for spearing and look set to get 5 mil for Adam, which gives us the 8mil for him. The purchase of anyone else from then on would depend on the sale of Carroll (Macca who knows a lot more than you do and is a trusted source said there is a 90% chance hed be leaving.) The money from the sale will be used to get our final signing, who is believed to be Sturridge at this point in time. So jog on with your claims that no more signings will be made.

Why would they want to loan him out?

There is nothing in this for Schalke? To lose one of, if not, their best player on a loan? If he wanted to leave, they would cash in on him to sign a replacement. Sending him on loan makes no sense at all.

so this is how things stand at the moment:
This week will be busy, but mostly with outgoings. Adam, Spearing, Pacheco, Doni and possibly Cole will all leave. Once one or two of them are shifted we will finally bid for Dempsey. If Carroll joins Newcastle we will sign a replacement in the shape of either Sturridge or indeed Theo Walcott who still hasn't signed a new contract. Finally despite what the Mirror are saying Downing will not leave, and don't expect Enrique to either, although there could be interest in another LB.

Dempsey is not a replacement for Carroll so who is? Hard to believe that we would go backwards and sign Sturridge or Walcott. I would much rather we kept Carroll than either of these two.

Why do we need a left back ed enrique is really good and we have cover in agger and johnson {Ed052's Note - Enrique doesn't seem to be rated - a poor drop off in form}

Agree 001. problem with enrique is that he tries to do too much with the ball in dangerous places so leaves himself exposed. Also does not release the ball early enough on many occasions. BR just needs to have a word, then he'd be the same player as the first half of last season
