So what's going to happen with Sturridge and Origi?

Wouldn't mind keeping one if they were happy to be a backup player. can't imagine either would be worth much money!

Believable1 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - Origi will know is future is away from Liverpool but his season has tailed off rather. Liverpool will look to sell Sturridge but need to be more realistic about the fee.}

Your last sentence has it spot on George. Time for both to move on IMO.

I think the only way we get Sturridge out the door is loan next season then his contract is up or we give him a free transfer. as I don't see anyone taking a chance on him with wages and transfer fee.

Origi might have a couple of suitors because he's young-ish and fit atleast.

Sturridge is incredibly injury prone and will have pretty high wages, I wouldn't be surprised if he was still around next season just because we can't find a new home for him!

We can keep one if they don't mind being nothing more than a squad player.

I see studge heading to China.

I agree with Ed. We need to set a lower price for Sturridge because of his injury problems.

He’s been a good player to the club, who is a terrific talent, doesn’t moan, by all accounts has helped a few players and youngsters settle, a model pro. We should let the lad choose where he wants to go from the offers same as Lucas did and wish him well. Such a shame he had the injury issues or he could of remained at the very top level.

Would anyone really be that surprised if West Ham bid for Sturridge though.
Origi I do think know what has went wrong, he definitely has the ability to be a very good forward. Back to France maybe and he'll probably bag a hatfull of goals in that league.

The second half of the season where we got to the final of the Europa, he was looking like the real deal, scored some good and important goals, I hope he gets a chance, but it's going to be one of him ings or solanke for me, and solanke hasn't really had a shot at all.

Agree7 Disagree0

28 Mar 2018 07:27:54
I worry that Solanke hasn’t looked at all too impressive, even with his cameos. I hope I’m wrong and I hope the lad gets a good loan next season and stays on. Maybe it’s more a case of him needing to work that little bit harder off the pitch like Harry Kane as opposed to relying on his natural ability.

Origi would be marketable for teams outside the top 3 leagues, francce or portugal?

Sad about sturridge and all that potential. he's on 120 too apparently and no one will be willing to pay that.

He could also end up pulling a van persie and be injury free next two years and bang the goals in.

Sturridge is a decent bloke who deserves to be given the opportunity to play elsewhere, but for his injuries he is a fantastic footballer and probably one of the best finishers around at the moment, but our style of play doesn't really suit him and he needs to be at a club that can play to his strengths.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Mar 2018 17:02:07
Sturridge has been long finished we saw the best of him with Suarez and not since. Shame but he has to go too much on the wage bill for a bit part player. Origi I still think has talent but hasn’t progressed enough I would like to see a full season in the prem on loan.

28 Mar 2018 20:32:01
It amazes me how many fans are so worried bout our wage bill, the club gave him his contract so forget about the wages, they can well afford it,

29 Mar 2018 00:58:38
Sorry port but glad your not in Finance if that’s your outlook sure let’s pay 100k a week to a bench player so what if we can afford it doesn’t make it good business sense get a grip.

Hi eds,

I was wondering is there a future for Wilson at LFC? Seems to be doing well on loan and internationally?

Cheers in advance!

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - A tough one. In the short term probably not but another year on loan then maybe. I rather doubt it.{

27 Mar 2018 00:43:53
He's doing great but still too early for him to come into our team. I don't think he'd get game time with us next season, he needs another loan at maybe one of the promoted teams then should he still be interested he comes back to us.

He has a lightweight frame. Unless he bulks up, the best way he will survive in the PL is to play a role similar to Coutinho, out wide cutting in. he's not as good on the ball as him but probably as good at shooting. He has good acceleration and his passing is pretty good. But he is severely one footed and so its easy to defend against him. I don't think i've ever seen him try to go on the outside of his man. He will either need to look overseas or maybe a lower PL team but suspect there is no long term future at LFC for him.

Salah isn’t the biggest but he’s as strong as an ox. I’ve been impressed with Wilson’s performances at Hull. Don’t forget that The Championship is a very physical division and he’s more than holding his own.

Very good player would like to see him go out on loan to a premiership team next season. After impressive start to his loan in championship. Same with Ojo then make a decision end of next season.

You don’t have to be big to be strong on the ball just look at Sterling!

In his latest interview he said he stated he wants to play for the first team next season or maybe another, I like his down to earth attitude/ no toys out the pram

He knows next year may not be the year but he’s willing to bide his time.

Keita as well, not the biggest but he mixes it up with the best of them because he is physically very strong, Kante as well. Wilson appears to be stronger than he looks and playing in a more physical and competitive league than reserve football is going to benefit us, hopefully he will be competing for a first team start if he keeps up his progress.

Another year in the championship would be perfect for him. If he does well next season in a very competitive and physical league, he’ll be far better for it than sitting on a bench most of the season. Same for Woodburn IMO.

I have to say, I wasn’t sure Wilson could reproduce his form in a more challenging league, but he’s doing well so far to force Klopp to take notice. Fair play lad.

And as for Torres comparison?

small and one footed depends how good you can get that one foot ask messi and salah would not say they use there right foot a lot.
messi
Left foot – 406 goals
Right foot – 71 goals
Header – 21 goals
Other body part – 2 goals
salah this season in the prem
Goals 30
Goals With Header -1
Goals With Right Foot -4
Goals With Left Foot -25.

Agree5 Disagree0

27 Mar 2018 20:42:41
Wilson is even more one footed than either of those 2. Plus he is not as good on the ball. So yes whilst its possible to excel in the league if you can't play with one foot, I suspect Wilson is not going to be one of them. Id like to be proved wrong but there are a number of others such as Woodburn who are ahead of him.

One thing in Wilsons favour is he is scoring goals at each level he's playing at. If he he can carry on scoring he'll get game time even if other areas of his game need work.
I think a loan next season would be best for him.

Agree3 Disagree0

28 Mar 2018 03:58:26
Never forget - unless he has been massively improving whilst out on this loan, I would agree that another loan is best for him.

Been championing this young man for a long time now, he needs games in a senior team at Championship club level or higher - he has scored at every level now except Premier League level (hasn't played in the Prem. yet), which shows he definitely has something about him, not sure what exactly your problem is with him phil_LFC but I have watched this kid play since he came into the under 16's and I can tell you right now he has a lot of potential.

Of course Messi and Salah are better one footed players, but they are better one footed players than 99.99999% of the world's population that has ever walked the Earth.

Wilson has just turned 21, bags of potential, scored at each level he has been tried at, offered a new contract by Klopp (to both preserve his selling fee if he fails, which he hasn't as yet and keep him tied to us if he did well, which he has so far) - I mean, what more can you ask of a young, small (physically) player, who has Salah playing off the chart in his preferred position in the first team right now?

Wilson scored goals for fun in the under 23's while more established players like Danny Ings (Ings playing in more of a central attacking position) hasn't hit the net nearly as regularly.

Make no mistake, this Wilson kid has something very naturally special about him, not forced or coached, mark my words on that - he needs exposure to top football and get his game consistently for 12 to 18 months, then we'll see his potential being fulfilled, or lost if he doesn't continue to knuckle down and keep working his socks off.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - its all about timing kev, if hes put in and things dont go well then his confidence could be shot never to return, when the time is right (only klopp can decide that) he should be given a spell on the bench and brought on if the game is won or else be given a shot in the league cup side or play if the opposition is weak, its a tough call mate but if hes never given his chance then we will never know..

30 Mar 2018 00:59:01
Exactly Ed.
I feel he needs 30 or so games before we see where he's going in his career.
I certainly wouldn't rush him.
He could be a very useful backup for our wingers in the second half of next season and then assess him from there again.
With any luck, he'll make it.
Certainly I'm jealous of the Welsh that he's one of them :)
